"An elder is a dragon who has lived for centuries. Humans must be thankful they prefer guarding their pack than reliving the good old days from the legends." he explained, "Their breath could wipe out a forest and their appearance makes the sun disappear!"
Errol very obviously admired these dragons, as the way he hopped in excitement as he talked about them proved.
"That doesn't sound very pleasant..." One more argument to why there was no reason to go to the bottom of the ocean. "Well, I think your strangeness is actually going to make you the most friends here."
"It would be like watching an elder stalk a human." He could only imagine that, as the ancient dragons kept away from human settlements nowadays. Going there just to annoy the local population would be a useless waste of energy.
"The ocean doesn't sound particularly interesting to begin with." What with it being mainly made of water. He may enjoy swimming, unlike Rook, but he didn't see a reason to go deeper than the immediate surface when the land and the sky were so full of things to see.
Errol snorted at the idea of vengeful ghost bugs. "You had a vivid imagination. Mine only came up with terrible ways in which Rook would get hurt in my absence."

The fact the dragon was looking for attentions meant he wasn't offended by Strasky's objections to his eating habits. It was a good point, just not one he welcomed easily when he was hungry.
"I think your answer died long ago. A land-dwelling whale would be close to a dinosaur in habits. What they would eat, I don't know.. Grass, maybe."
He decided to lead the way while entertaining whatever weird topic Strasky was going to bring up. They were a dragon and a reanimated man out there to touch grass, it wasn't the time to worry about looking dignified.
"I just don't like hurting small creatures that remind me of Rook. Strange, I know. But I can't bring myself to do it."

"Rook tells me about her books when she's home." What mattered in the end was sharing something with a friend. It didn't matter how strange the topic was.
"I don't like killing birds, we'll find something else on the way. Let's go."

"Don't—" Why did humans bother asking for her advice if they were going to do however they pleased anyway? There was a good reason if she didn't want to aggravate those men until they were outside. One that was quickly confirmed when the idiot in charge opened fire in the middle of a crowded club.
But she wouldn't be an AI worth her code if she couldn't adapt and overcome minor setbacks. The downed gentlemen had the honor of experiencing just how much a person sporting several cybernetic implants could weight despite having a rather lean physique as Willow hopped on the door, her hand already going to her katana as she dashed forward.
Deflecting projectiles was by all means humanly impossible. To Willow, it was nothing more than an exercise in eye-hand coordination. She could even do this one handed, seeing as bullets traveled slower than blaster shots. So she tucked her free hand behind her back and couldn't help taking a quick glance back over shoulder while at it.
For the sake of the civilians, she figured she should stall for time. Seeing as they were going to fight inside, she might as well tap into the sound system and set the mood.
She kept her sword raised, keeping an eye on the other two as well. "My, look what you've done. And you even deem yourself a professional hitman, I'm sure."
Mockery was often the most effective way to get your opponent to make a mistake. Willow shot the man her smuggest grin while readying the first aforementioned ace up her sleeve. At least the local papers would have an interesting story to tell if she started throwing shuriken left and right.
"Let's see what you've got. But do keep in mind, my weapon doesn't need reloading."
"*Mmm... just point me in the direction to dash I guess,*" he sighed, tapping his finger against his chin thoughtfully. He approached the door, studying it and then began to fiddle with the pins on the hinges.
"*How interesting. Quite a hefty door for the bathroom. In fact I think if you remove this pin...and then this pin...and give this door a good smack here...*"
He stepped back lightly as the whole door without warning swung crazily outwards and tilted, followed by the surprised roars of the gentleman on the other side finding themselves smacked by a rather heavy door.
"*Hup!*" He didn't have much weight behind the following jump onto the door but it did still serve to break the rest of the frame off and land it solidly onto the goons. Jonas ran up and over the door, landing lightly on the other side.
"*All yours!*" he called over his shoulder back to Willow. The main gunman, freeing himself from under the door staggered to his feet and snarled, " I'll fuckin' KILL you! " at Jonas, aimed and began shooting. His mates, confused and still struggling free followed suit. Gunshots rang out and the whole venue of tightly packed people began screaming and panicking, pressing for the nearest exits.

"Choosing to fight was the most noble thing to do." Even if it didn't work out in the end.
Errol was silent for a while as he pondered the same argument he heard every time. He agreed it wasn't right to steal cows from the farmers as a general rule. It was just very hard to resist the urge sometimes. Doing the groceries wasn't exactly a typical dragon activity.
"Fine." he took another wide turn before landing in a field. "We can walk from here."

"You look out for your pack. That's good." It was rare to find a human who cared about such things. They usually looked out for themselves, especially when they felt in danger.
"They're the right people for the job. Our best shot, if you like. They will all do their best and that's all we can ask of them."
It would have been in bad taste to talk about fate there. So he simply focused on the currents to ensure a smooth flight until they made it out of the city. Errol slowed down then, studying the fields below.
"Rook doesn't approve of me taking cattle so I would appreciate if you didn't tell her about what I'm about to do."

"This world is well protected. You will watch valiant heroes taking on the next major crisis, which may very well be an almost monthly occurrence."
It was something they were all used to, considering they all happened to be said heroes charging at danger. But it wasn't time to worry about that as Errol made a wide turn to head off in a different direction.
"I haven't hunted in a while. This will be a nice trip."

The situation was dire. Jonas could barely stand or committing to the same personality. Whatever Willow had just witnessed prompted her to raise her guard and stare intensely at the man, feeling the need to assess again whether it was safe to turn her back to him now that his demeanor had changed so abruptly.
"The consumption of alcohol is rarely a wise decision." she replied, squaring her shoulders, "...Like attempting to deceive me may prove to be."
Feeling a light pressure on her lower lip, Willow turned away. She had asserted dominance enough for now. It was time to worry about their main problem. A smirk crossed her face.
"Why, I intend to humor those fools out there of course. I highly doubt we will otherwise be allowed to leave the premise."
Though being cornered at the moment allowed for the invaluable chance to fully prepare before going off to throw hands with a bunch of thugs. She carefully adjusted her coat and fixed her hair a little. She could never take on those men looking like a mess, of course!
"Once outside I will ensure their attention is focused on me. You should still be in the condition to run for cover in the meantime. Don't worry about me, this isn't my first street skirmish. They believe their weapons will give them the upper hand but I have a few aces up my sleeve as well."
So her evening gloves had to go. Were those mechanical hands she was sporting? Hard to say, as they were stuffed in her pockets right away.
"Shall we get going?"
A small sigh escaped from Jonas as he took Willow's hand and allowed himself to be pulled up to a standing position. He immediately regretted it and just barely caught himself on the sink, clinging to it, his hand fumbling to turn the cold water on. This wasn’t going to work. This wasn’t going to work. He splashed his face, soaked it and looked up in the mirror staring at it. He couldn't even fucking see himself properly, blood throbbing in his ears, the light too bright, his stomach churning, his limbs weak and watery. This wasn’t going to wo...
The lights clicked out in Jonas's brain.
He was aware of standing there in pitch blackness, holding onto the sink for dear life, staring in the mirror and seeing himself staring back with calm yellow eyes.
*I'll handle this I suppose. Go to sleep.*
His reflection reached out through the mirror and with a resigned sigh, gave Jonas's forehead a flick right across his scar. Jonas closed his eyes and fell backwards as the darkness swallowed him up...
Outwardly what Willow witnessed was a brief moment in which Jonas started to collapse at the sink, closed his eyes and then without warning jerked them open again, straightened up and gripped the sides of the sink. His hand pressed against his wrist, taking his pulse for a few minutes, he rubbed his face, examined it closely for a moment and then nodded. His whole demeanor seemed different more than a simple splash of cold water ought to do.
"*If I were to guess, I'd say those drinks had been drugged...Bit of a idiotic thing to do, just down them like that but looks like the worst of it has worn off*" he remarked. "*Although I'm not sure what you expect me to do aside from possibly puking on those men but I think I can keep pace for a bit now. What did you have in mind?*"
Yellow eyes turned their gaze towards Willow.

"Perhaps he believed preserving his role would provide him a sense of stability while dealing with the apocalypse." Most creatures acted erratically under great stress. There was no telling what could have possibly been going through the man's mind at the time.
"In other words four eyes are better than two. But I know it can't be helped with this view."
The dragon let out a disappointed noise as he concluded that Rook was probably off in a distant part of the city. She might not have been gone for long but he missed her already.

"It shouldn't be such a mystery when glaring evidence of our existence is scattered throughout the city." And it shouldn't be difficult to accept a bunch of pirates singing their heart out in the face of what humans considered music.
"The rider should look where the dragon is going in order to brace for any sudden maneuvers." the dragon explained, "And I don't want you to get sick while you're on my back."
That was the reason why he was behaving for the first part of the trip. Errol was used to this part of the city and knew how to avoid flying over the major streets. Even when he sneaked out, he always looked down in the hopes of spotting Rook.

"Most definitely, but they're mostly concerned with the ghosts. They have tried having them removed multiple times to no avail." It did help that Rook was a very good employee whose opinion mattered.
Not to mention that the Ghostbusters didn't have the heart to force her to part with her mother again.
"It's difficult to be accepted when most don't even believe in your existence." Despite the glaring evidence, nonetheless.
Though that didn't matter. They were meant to have a little tour around the area. Errol took off and got himself just a little above the roofs as he headed off in a seemingly random direction. "Be careful when you look down."

Errol couldn't really look directly now that Strasky was sitting on his back but was listening for any signs of distress.
"The people in this building don't approve of our presence. They don't believe in judging by one's action, but only their appearance." he explained, "So I have no reason to mind whether they enjoy this."
He bumped his tail a few times before adding more claw marks on the concrete along the ones already there. That should do it.
"I will fly just above the buildings for now, seeing as this is your first time."

Errol waited patiently for Strasky to climb on his back before he carefully stood back up. Normally, he would already be in the air by this point but today he wasn't carrying an inexperienced rider.
The dragon slowly paced around the roof to give Strasky some time to adjust before walking to the edge. "I assume you're ready."
He actually didn't. It wouldn't be the first time he got to carry around someone who failed to mention they were afraid of heights. Errol leaned back before leaping off to glide to the building on the other side of the street as a test…and because he loved annoying the neighbors.

Strasky got a quiet noise of approval as the hat was properly adjusted. Errol clearly cared, despite acting a bit rude like all dragons did.
He stretched his wings as the straps were secured, then shook himself until he felt the saddle was sitting on his back just right. He bumped his tail on the ground a couple of times, then nodded satisfied.
"Well done." He then laid down, making a little easier for Strasky to climb on his back.

"There is also this." Errol went rummaging in one of the bags strapped to the saddle and pulled out a beanie with cat ears. "Scaleless things need to keep warm."
He quickly leaped back on Strasky's shoulder, sitting the beanie on top of his head before gliding back around. Errol looked back a moment before squeezing himself under the saddle.
The saddle shifted as Errol started growing in size. Being often impatient to go out, as most young creatures were, he had learned to keep himself at the right angle during the change to be able to slide in the saddle without help. The dragon shook himself, letting the saddle fall in place and rest properly on top of the spines that ran along his back. That should have explained why passengers required a more comfortable seat.
Errol whipped his tail to untangle it from the straps on the back, then turned his head in Strasky's direction, "Now do as I showed you."

The need for a saddle would be clear in a moment once Errol reverted to a form more suitable for his age. For the time being though, he worked on laying out all the straps properly and fully extend the part that would help secure it without hurting his neck.
"It's simple enough. You will simply have to tighten these according to my instructions, then secure your legs and hold firmly here."
He jumped on top of the saddle, showing everything to the best of his possibilities. The lack of reins made it so one had to trust the dragon to get both safely to destination.
"Now sit. I will show you the correct position to avoid getting knocked off by the wind."
Rook wouldn't be happy if he let Strasky fall into oblivion at the first dive.
