An appreciation blog for Makoto Yuki & Aigis / Aegis [主アイ, aikoto, 주아이, 主艾]; including the game(s), manga, movies, musicals and what have you. Other P3MC names: Leader, キタロー (Japanese fandom), Minato Arisato (manga), Sakuya Shiomi (musicals).
First, we have their matching sprites - they are the only ones holding the same food/drink, and since Aigis' has two, it's safe to assume one is meant to be the drink Makoto is holding.
Next, Aikoto were paired together all over their Tokyo café - they were even the only two to have cardboard cutouts, which were placed facing each other.

To top it all off, the other two collab locations (Osaka & Aichi) also had Aikoto cardboard cutouts!
Spoilers for P3R below! Skip this if you haven't finished the game!

I just realized that these two scenes parallel each other:
During the first, Makoto was about to go meet an uncertain fate, and he turned to look at Aigis one last time. During the second, Makoto is about to meet his fate, and he... closes his eyes while looking at Aigis. She is the last thing he sees.
But that's not all. The first scene is quite obviously inspired by the movies' "Live" scene, except we don't see that happen in P3R. As a matter of fact, if it weren't for Aigis' flashback, we wouldn't know that Makoto turned to look at her, because we don't see this scene at all during the fight against Nyx.
This scene we see in Aigis' flashback is brand new. Which begs the question, why didn't they simply use a shot we actually saw? Like Makoto levitating to go towards Nyx?
If we follow the parallel I mentioned at the beginning of the post, then the reason may very well be that the visuals are meant to echo Aigis' words.
We see this brand new scene of Makoto turning towards Aigis, to look at Aigis, right as she says: "When I thought I may never see you again..."
So the visuals suggest that Aigis' words may not only apply to her. The way this scene is set up, it's like they both feared they may never see the other again.
What's more, this shot of Makoto looking at Aigis was deliberately constructed so it parallels the shot of Aigis turning to look at "the camera" in Yakushima. I say "deliberately" because Atlus themselves keep using this parallel in their own trailers, so it's obviously something they want people to notice:
And what was Aigis doing during that very moment?
"You hoped that your successors would make the same wish to see someone precious to them, and that meeting would take place at the pier. When I was searching for someone, I found myself naturally drawn there for some reason..."
She was hoping to see someone precious to her.
She was hoping to see Makoto.
So the fact that they went out of their way so that Makoto turns to look at Aigis in the exact same fashion is extremely meaningful. Even more so when you realize Aigis' scene took place during their reunion, while Makoto's took place during their possible separation.
After searching for so long, I finally was able to buy this gorgeous Aikoto Clearfile! It was given as a bonus for those who purchased Falling Down from Tsutaya Records.
Here's some Aikoto from the Persona Magazine, courtesy of the previews shared by both Book Walker & Atlus JP!
Spoilers for P3R below the cut!
I bolded the most relevant bits:
[...] Her human heart resides within a mechanical body. Despite feeling troubled and hurt due to her unique origins, her heart continues to grow with the support of her friends, and she remains by the Protagonist's side until the end.
Feeling beholden to the Protagonist due to sealing Death inside him
Aigis harbours an attachment to the Protagonist from the very moment she meets him. Eventually, she recalls that the reason for it is the accident 10 years ago, where she sealed Death within the Protagonist, who just happened to be present at the scene. However, at that point she comes to realize that her attachment to him isn't due to her mission — rather, it has welled up due to a special feeling.
The soul that lives within her mechanical body is unclouded. In the future, it will continue to shine on without fail.
Aigis' human heart blossoms after she learns what it means to live. After spending every day with and parting with her loved one, Aigis' heart grows stronger and even more human.
The Magazine also features the Aikoto Keyvisual for Episode Aigis!

Remember this old post? Now we have the footage to go along with it!
We can finally hear Aigis referring to Makoto as her "precious person", if you want to keep it literal, or as her "special someone" - after all, that's how P3R translated that expression when Junpei referred to Chidori as such.
Or if we're feeling particularly bold, we could also translate it as her "beloved" - which is how it's translated in Arena’s Official Design Works.
I hope you can repost some older official aikoto arts by soejima onto twitter now that reloads trending often :D
I already have a thread with all the official art they have gotten through the years, but you're right that it would be a good idea to make a new one! Thanks for the suggestion, anon! :D
