thinkin about how in the untamed, subtextually wangxian get together in ep 43 —

like just before this scene we have lxc dropping lwj’s backstory to wwx, revealing that lwj was punished for siding with wwx at the siege of the buria mounds and pretty explicitly telling him that lwj loves him —

(reminder that in the book it was this reveal that DIRECTLY led wwx to confess to lwj in guanyin temple)

and they get this scene in the jingshi where wwx all but confesses to lwj, followed by lwj playing Their Song

and after this point they act like a couple for the rest of the drama: wwx is wearing lwj’s underrobe, they walk comfortably shoulder to shoulder, wwx seems more open with touching lwj and vice versa.

the opening scene of ep 47 is particularly funny — when wwx starts asking about “whether hanguang jun knows of a kind pretty girl who’s single” lwj doesn’t even get a jealous reaction, he just responds “干什么” (what are you doing) in the FLATTEST voice ever, like yep that’s my established relationship boyfriend what the hell is he asking me about women for

like they clearly don’t get any kind of confession scene in guanyin temple like in the book, bc the show implies that by that point they’re already together and there is no misunderstanding to clear

tldr the show implies that it presents a censored version of the actual events depicted — in the untamed/cql’s timeline of events, wangxian actually are together since after the events at lanling jin
