"You can take the girl out of writing but you can never take writing out of the girl."
I may have read that somewhere or just made it up in my head.😅😂 But yes, I'm the girl.
It's a cliché but writing as a craft is more like a *calling* for me. I've had my bad days, when it went downhill, failures, rejections, writer's block, anxiety, and what have you. But somehow, I made it here which is quite a feat in itself.💥
Honestly, it's a love-hate relationship I have with writing. And how ironic because I don't see myself doing anything sans writing (aside from baking which comes a close second). 😋😁
My journey wasn't always smooth. Boy was it chaotic?!--it was a mess so to speak.
But I guess I kinda owe it to myself to be proud of how I've come so far. Well, we should be especially of "the progress no one else sees or others know little about."
And so I cannot discredit myself for every  accomplishment, win, or success (big or small) I've had along the way. After all,
"We are all works in progress."
It's still a long way to go but maybe a few things I've learned and still learning at 31:
1. It's okay not to have it all figured out.
We learn as we go along. So let go of the things that you can't control and move forward. Keep moving.
2. You don't always have to take charge--and that's okay because God is. He always is.
Guess I've always been so obsessed about taking charge of my life (again)--or so I thought and felt. But life happens--detours, mistakes, and, bad decisions and really, that's how you learn, grow, and get better.
3. "You have to revel in the now."
Stop worrying so much about the future and live for today because, tomorrow is not/never promised.
4. Find what you love and stick to it.
You don't have to be an expert or perfect in your craft, but you have to love what you do and yes, "it has to find you working (too)."
5. Do not give up.
"It's difficult until it's done" and yes there's so much you can do outside fear so take a leap of faith. Take that first step (even with the 'nerves' or with your knees shaking).
6. Write on. Dream on.

How about you? What's your "gung-ho" moment?
Tumblr media
Contrary to how people often describe me: calm, quiet or reserved—I’d like to believe that I am a real-life gung-ho or fighter.
I find comfort in staying behind the scenes and blending into the background where most people aren’t. I guess I am built that way or that different (by default).
But I am a “gung-ho” when it comes to going after my dreams (and admittedly, stubborn at times too).
And writing is my both my solitude and adventure.

Guess some things still figure💪🦄🙏
“I’m restless, sometimes I feel hopeless, Rambling things and Thoughts, inks, and notes, Like I’m bound to do One thing or another, My world in complete Motion, yet time standing Still, and days–never ending, But I’m no superhero, I get tired too, cry and get Mad when I feel the need to, I want my life in order, But clearly, I’m a complex Being, bursting with chaos, Daunted but fighting.”

“Those sweet words, letters and poems and all the things you do for love, they shouldn’t stop, because maybe, just maybe, this time he will keep them, like he will keep you.”

“We grew up believing in fairy tales, listening to stories about happily-ever-after. A prince and a princess ending up together or a knight in shining armor ever ready to rescue the damsel in distress that we think we are. Yet here’s the deal though, none of it is real. We tend to be stuck in the idea of finding that ‘significant other’ that we create a totally different world–a make believe. We hope, expect and dream until we crashed into a road sign that says, REALITY BITES! We realized that no matter how cliché it sounds, life is not perfect and we aren’t either. Our own version of ‘The ONE’ will come along, he may not be exactly how you dreamed about but he is REAL. And if you will only let him, just let him, he will sweep you off your feet way better than any handsome, ‘to die for’ prince charming can. We don’t know who we’ll end up with but we are given a choice–to be happy. Your happiness may be looking at you now but you are too preoccupied on your checklist of how Mr. RIGHT should be that you might miss Mr. REAL instead. Get Real.”

“I was the little girl he would carry and put to sleep without the fear of monsters chasing after me. He would shower me with little kisses and hugs like his arms were the safest place. He would save me from bruises as a child, now from heartaches and uncertainties of life. He’ll be there to pick me up, correct my wrongs, And be the proudest dad no matter how little my achievements were. A rock I can lean on, the only captain of my team. Whose love is boundless, patience–extended and presence–constant just like Mom’s. I may appear to know everything at times but I’ll always be his little girl and, He’ll forever be the ‘best’ Dad.”

“It’s okay to let your guard down so stop building defenses and start feeling–living. We are overpowered by our fears, of getting hurt and being left out that we ironically forget how to live at all. We deprive ourselves of real happiness because we’re afraid, to let go, take a risk or a leap of faith, to laugh, be crazy and get mad, to love and be loved. We coward out without even trying, we don’t take chances and create our own monsters instead. We’re empty, numb and lifeless souls trapped in a being we are but we don’t accept to be.”

“The smell of books, flipping of pages, the sudden urge to get to the ending but wanting to begin again when you’re finally there. You get to be anyone you want, be in many places at once, be the heroine or the villain and live your dreams as if they were real. Your mood lightens up at the sight of books, a sense of euphoria when you own one or two. A repetitive scene of crying, laughing, frowning and smiling like hell, as if the whole world is yours and everything else is a void. Every chapter is filled with curiosity and excitement, an adventure to be explored towards the anticipated end. Nothing that only a reader can understand with a good book to sleep with at night.”
