Another aspect of the Gaza Genocide that I want to talk about is the complicity of Internet banking and crowdfunding websites like GoFundMe.

I have seen multiple Gazans raise enough money to leave for Egypt, but the banks and the crowdfunding websites freeze their money or cancel their funds for "suspicious activity" or whatever. Every day that passes in Gaza supplies get more scarce, conditions get more deadly, and the price to cross into Egypt gets more expensive. I've seen people, like ghost-90 here on Tumblr, raise the full amount to get their entire family out of Gaza, but their money gets frozen for so long that the original goal is only a fraction of the price now needed to cross the boarder.

These financial institutions should not be allowed to get away with contributing to the death toll in Gaza. They are intentionally keeping people trapped in a kill zone by withholding money that is rightfully theirs.

I'm so pissed and angry that every avenue for relief for Palestinians is being cut of left and right. It is vile that Gazans are being extorted for 10s of thousands of dollars by the Egyptian gov just to save their family's lives, but even when they play by this corrupt game, the world still finds a way to make them suffer.

My heart is with every Palestinian for the rest of time, from river to sea you will all be free. 🇵🇸❤️

Arcane analysis

I loved schnee's video on Jinx' madness arc (not as a necessarily good representation of "madness"/mental illness, but as an analysis of how the trope is written in Arcane), but there was something I felt it didn't address very well enough to me.

Why did Vi need to shoot Caitlyn?

What does Vi shooting Caitlyn accomplish for Powder's return, for Vi and Powder's relationship? Why would that be the ultimate turning point to make Jinx choose to leave Silco?

The standard answers were Jinx' jealousy and Vi needing to have no reason to return to Piltover and leave Jinx, but neither of those felt fulfilling to me. Jealousy just seemed too shallow for such an important turning point, and it was not necessarily set up to be a central point of Jinx' character. Even the fear of being left alone seemed to no longer be the most important thing at this point. There would have been other ways to resolve that conflict, that fear, than having Vi shoot Caitlyn. It didn't explain why that would facilitate Powder coming back (was Powder a bargaining chip like I first assumed, even though that line of thinking felt out of character? Was it a natural result of this sacrifice?)

It's about Vi becoming like Jinx. In Jinx' perspective, she's been ruined by the guilt of killing her loved ones. That's what made her into Jinx. That's why she cannot be Powder again with Vi. That's why Vi no longer loves her like she used to. And she can never undo what she did, she cannot truly bring back her family, not really, not for Vi. But what can she do? Bring Vi to her level. Make her understand what changed. Make her equal to Jinx again.

The only way for them to be sisters like they used to is to have them both go through the same transformative experience, like on the bridge in the opening scene. Vi will no longer have reason to be disgusted by Jinx in a way she isn't with herself. Jinx can only be Powder again to Vi if Vi crosses into Jinx territory. If Vi enters her "mad world", in Schnee's terms.

Silco doesn't understand her, not truly. I think you can see, throughout the season, that Jinx does not believe his parallel with him and Vander to apply. But he accepts Jinx. And that's a lot to give up for someone who she believes only loves who she used to be. Unless, of course, Vi does come to understand her. That's why that was the turning point. That's why that would fuel the decision. Powder or Jinx. Vi or Silco.
