hi! so i do write jack dawson on my multi @starseized but i haven't written him through d.iscord before. however, my discord is open to all my writing partners and any muse i have ( past or present tbh if we wrote together with any of my muses no longer featured on any of my blogs ) is on the table to write with there !! so if any of my mutuals are interested with writing with my jack through d.iscord i'm absolutely open !!

he eyes the cybernetic arm with interest, curiosity and awe being piqued with its movement. while he’s sure it might be a discomfort at time for her, and the story behind it is likely a grim one, he has a feeling it’s a valuable asset to have out there on the field. there’s no doubt in his mind that he’s been a little out of his depth since being thrown into a realm of aliens and space travel and the likes, but steve likes to think he’s adapted well. he rolls with it all, bundles it into his strategies and plans as if it’s been there the whole time. after all, they have new abilities and ways of thinking he’s never considered before, he wants to expand his knowledge. if it helped him get to know newer faces better, that was a fantastic perk.

her smile is encouraging. nor does he take any offense at her cautionary warning.

“well, in that case ground rules are probably the best way to go,” he allows, nodding once. he’ll trust her judgement, she knows her own strength. "what did you have in mind?"

the luphomoid eyes the enhanced - human with unmasked curiosity, raising a questioning brow. so used to the staple of HUMAN ARROGANCE , especially that of man, she finds herself chuffed at his admittance ( if only the slightest ) — he not only wishes to train together, but feels as though he could learn from her? steve's earnestness is refreshing in comparison to quill's confidence that borders on cockiness, and there's a smile creeping up her face that she can't seem to keep at bay.

they don't know each other very well, so perhaps this captain america fellow hasn't yet been informed of her frosty attitude. no better chance than now to make a hopefully MORE SOUND impression. she nods her head brusquely, avoiding eye contact. flark, she's really no good with strangers, at least when she's actively trying not to offend them. "sure, alright rogers. if that's what you'd like," she's aiming for casual, throws in a shrug. "probably best we set some ground rules, though, i'm sure you're strong in your own rite, but," she twists her cybernetic arm until it snaps, then watches as it quickly rights itself, joints clicking back into place. "it can also um. turn into a gun," she adds, suddenly realizing with this admission that this is perhaps not the first impression she wants to make. alas, too little, too late.

“we do, but they don’t make as good or authentic enough sparring partners as the real deal,” he replies easily. he’s used to people holding back, being hesitant to really go all out in their training, he was guilty of doing the same when up against a few of his teammates. but the best way to be prepared and to learn was to go all out, to learn what the real limits were and how they could be pushed and utilized on the field. he likes knowing how to plan for and around these factors.

“don’t worry so much about me, i’ve dealt with my fair share of attempted decapitations. you wouldn’t hold back out there, would you?”

 steve is being such a good sport for how frustrated shiro is getting.  his main weapon is far too dangerous to use in sparring.  if steve slipped or didn’t get his shield up in time, at best he got a third degree burn.  there was a reason shiro didn’t train with other people.  even if the shield was supposedly unbreakable.  he makes a face as he hauls himself up, metal to flesh.  “you guys don't have dummies or anything? i really don't want to take your head off."

eyes roll of their own accord, but amusement twitches at the corner of his lips. he’s well used to this by now, the teasing and jokes— and despite what some might think, he does have a sense of humor. he knows how to have fun, thank you. (it doesn’t help his case that his hobbies include genuinely enjoying browsing through case files and mission reports ).

“i think i can manage to stay up past 9:30,” he plays along, “and i’m pretty sure the games i used to play at parties are still basically the same as what gets played now. or you might find you like some older games, who knows? gotta give it a chance.”

She grasped at anything that was allowed to distract from the horrors that was her home life. “Well, good. Also, I’m sure you can get this anyway but you know we wouldn’t mind getting you a, um, season pass or something if you wanted us to? For whatever team you support. If it’s something you like, and considering everything you’ve done, nothing should stop you.”

he and escapism were old, old friends by now. in fact, he can’t really remember a time where he hadn’t relied on it, between sickness and the war and now… well, everything now entails. not that he’d really had a name for it before, but it’s almost nice to know that he wasn’t the only one who needed it. that others, even those like the brilliant miss potts needed it sometimes too.

“oh”, the offer catches him by surprise in its generosity, but warm smile grows as a result, “that’s so kind. if it wouldn’t be any trouble, i would love that. i’ve been told i need to get out more. this would probably help.”

there’s still some resistance coiled in tense frame, an unwillingness to burden any with his problems, with his wounds. even if they’re minor, even if he’ll heal up soon, even if it’s hypocritical of him because he’s adamant about making sure everyone he works alongside is taken care of. it’s easier to just take care of himself, let everyone keep believing he’ll always bounce back no matter what.

but he glances at bucky, and some of it melts away; because this is bucky, they’ve done this song and dance a hundred times before. he cares. so steve sighs and shifts closer, jaw still clenched tight against both pain and reluctance.

“okay. y’can take a look.”

𝑺𝑻𝑬𝑽𝑬 𝑺𝑨𝒀𝑺 𝑯𝑬'𝑺 𝑨𝑳𝑹𝑰𝑮𝑯𝑻, but bucky can see past the facade, the mask that blond tries to put over expression to attempt to be convincing. it might work with those that either don't know steve or simply don't care about his pain. others are weird around blond with injury because of steve's seeming invincibility. and yeah, bucky gets it : it's 𝚂𝙲𝙰𝚁𝚈 𝙰𝚂 𝙷𝙴𝙻𝙻 to admit that isn't the case. thankfully he's here to help patch steve up so he can heal properly.

❝ 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐃𝐎𝐍'𝐓 𝐆𝐎𝐓𝐓𝐀 𝐋𝐈𝐄 to me, pal. ❞ bucky tells friend quietly as he examines the wound. it's not pretty, but steve is right -- thankfully, it isn't life threatening. ❝ that looks like it smarts. c'mon, let me get you patched up. ❞ despite non lethality, bucky's tone is obvious in its concern, and he lets steve hear it. if he wants to know how best friend is feeling, he has to open up, too.

he stands unwavering, solid and unmovable as a mountain. If there’s one thing he’s incapable of, it’s leaving a friend when they’re in a less than great state. it’s in his nature to worry, to reach out and reassure.

“I can’t help but feel like hearing a small HINT of doubt in your face, Cap? – Is there any doubt that I’m not in my best mood?” A raised eyebrow; the look of someone on his face who didn’t want an answer to his asked question, but would still rather be LEFT ALONE.

he also just genuinely enjoys learning how the people around him work, what their styles are and how they could be used in combination with others. but this is more of an opportunity to get to know a new face better than anything.
