They've got such a fun arc and in the end open up an inn together and are just. The most (affectionately) bickering married couple. Also the first time they met each other Zolf headbutted Wilde and threatened to drown him in a bucket (and would have done it, too. How things can change)

Propaganda for Suitloon:

I think of them as queerplatonic, because theyre incredibly close and are pretty much each other's support systems. Balloon is Aromantic (technically canon? one of the creators said he was so im rlly hoping it is canon) so this is NOT a romantic ship. They dont have any romantic interactions, but you can spin every scene how you want. I just think they're in a QPR and are heavily supportive and understanding to each other. (Since like. half the people in the show fucking hate Balloon, and not many people seem to like to let Suitcase speak for herself)

Finally finished this! It took longer than I expected, but was great practice for the coloring especially. Character choices are literally just all the lovely PC's + my two favorite NPC's (to explain Carter and Einstein) holding everyone's favorite NPC (bold statement but am I wrong??) Wilde. Bertie is there for some reason. Mainly drew this so I could have an RQG header image, because I love this podcast.

#13: “You could’ve- could’ve stayed. You could’ve helped me fix things.”

(set before the first epilogue)

Oscar can’t deny that he put this house together with the thought of Zolf joining him. That he took a place that was merely somewhere for him to return to at the end of the day and turned it into a home.

Now that Zolf’s been here for a few days, though, it’s more than apparent that he’s not ready to make it what Oscar longs for. They’re closer… but gods, they’re not there yet.

“I, uh…” Zolf starts, putting down a meal in front of Oscar that’s better than anything he’s eaten in the months they were apart. “I picked this recipe up in a little village outside of Salisbury. S’nice.”

“It smells delicious, Zolf.”

He watches his beloved smile under the praise, can’t help but wonder how often Zolf hears kind words when he’s out on his journeys. From the look of him, probably not very often.

They eat in pleasantly companionable silence, but he’s plagued by the feeling that they’re on the cusp of something the entire time, like they’re not getting out of this kitchen without at least a little heartbreak. 

“I’m thinking about moving on.”

Gods, he hates being right.

Oscar nods, sipping at his tea to hide the worst of his reaction. It’s barely been a week—.

“Soon?”

“Yeah.” Zolf murmurs, glancing down at the table, at his plate, everywhere but Oscar. Gods, Oscar wishes he would just make eye contact like he used to. “Heard about a job south of the river, then might just… keep going.”

Zolf continues not to look at him, even when he sighs and rests his chin on his upturned palm. “I wish you’d stay.”

Boldly going for honesty doesn’t seem to be entirely the right approach, but it feels best in the moment. It makes Zolf shrink away from him, wincing a bit, and that feels good too - even if it shouldn’t.

“You could’ve… you could’ve stayed.” Oscar says, his voice trembling a little. It’s so damn exposing to be in love. “You could’ve helped me fix things.”

Zolf frowns, extending his hand until his palm covers Oscar’s. It does absolutely nothing to make him feel better. “S’what I’m trying to do, Oscar.”

His heart clenches. “Do you have to do it so far away?”

For a horrible moment, he worries that all he’ll have managed to achieve with his longing is to chase Zolf away even sooner. He closes his eyes and lets his head drop, tears prickling behind his eyelids. 

Then there’s a hand against his cheek, urging his head up. Oscar opens his eyes and looks straight into Zolf’s stormy green gaze, tumbling so deep that he fears he might drown.

“I’m not leaving because of you. You’re what I need, Oscar. But I’m not…” He sighs. “I’m not fucking ready.”

Zolf’s thumb deftly catches up the tear that tracks down his cheek. 

“I am.” 

“I know,” Zolf says. “I know. Wait for me?”

Oscar leans heavily into the support of Zolf’s palm and is the most honest he dares to be.

“Yes, darling. Always.”

i listened to the zoscar supercut today and i haven't actually relistened to that first resurrection conversation before and i am. going a bit insane. i didn't go insane enough at the time actually

like. okay. zolf & wilde are both neck deep in suicidal ideation at this point. they have both been neck deep in suicidal ideation for the better part of two years, at least. they know this about each other. and basically the only thing either of them have as a reason to live is they need to Save The World

and. the arc of their relationship in season four is both of them coming to accept the other as a reason to live. and because they are both isolationist bastards this is like pulling teeth.

so. wilde is dead! and zolf knows this isn't a bad thing for wilde – it is an unfathomably terrible thing for zolf, but so is a lot of shit – so zolf can't put any kind of pressure on wilde to come back, because why should zolf's feelings matter here. wilde is exhausted and now he would get to rest. zolf would like wilde to get to rest.

except wilde. it makes me so very insane that wilde does not ever say "i want to live". he just weighs 'getting to finally rest' against 'leaving zolf to carry it alone' and realises oh, okay, leaving zolf is not possible. and then because he's a bastard he refuses to be the first to admit to that. they're both finally starting to believe things could turn around and that means having to acknowledge how they feel about each other. gnashing my teeth.

Absolutely drowning in Zoscar feelings at the moment and just laughing my goddamn ass off that when you listen to the Q&As literally EVERYONE KNEW they were playing a romance except for Alex and Ben (although maybe Ben knew a little bit IDK). And when they realised they were just. Oh.

Their characters had been mentally smooching for an entire season and their players were just "This is totally normal interaction for two people what are you talking about it" and even THEIR FELLOW PLAYERS were chanting "kiss kiss kiss kiss" and it took one of them fucking DYING for them even to approach it and EVEN THEN.

Epic Road Trip is a Netflix choose your own adventure thing and in every single ending except one incredibly hard to get ending, Malibu permanently moves to New York or London with Brooklyn so they can pursue their careers together once they graduate.
