March Productivity Challenge
3rd March: If you could make your own garden (consider that it is self-tending, and has the perfect environment for the plants you'd choose) how would you plan it out? styles, locations, fauna you'd plant, furniture? Just talk about your dream garden.
Honestly, a quiet garden where the only things you hear are birds chirping and water flowing. I would love to have it designed in a Japanese style, complete with a pond and koi fish. There would be plenty of rocks scattered around and a little bridge 🌱🎋

Day 3- Have you done a challenge before? If so, how was it? If not, what are you expecting to get out of this experience?
Yes, I have, and they were motivating because I felt obligated to post, meaning do something every day or almost every day. I am currently looking for more motivation because it has been lacking lately.

Day 2- If you’ve chosen a major, why did you decide on it? If you’re in any other grade , what field/major interests you the most?
02/03/21 || DAY 2 of the ZOOMESTER CHALLENGE I chose computer graphics and animation a long time before going into university :') I remember being in middle school, watching anime and thinking, "Man, I can draw. I can write. I love making movies- what better way to combine all three than through animation?" I also watched so many wonderful animators and animation students on youtube and learned that process through watching and applying... I couldn't be happier doing what I love (even if my major isn't drawing and sunshine all the time :p) What about you? Love,
Tala ❤

1/03/2021 & 2/03/2021
Day 1- Introduce yourself! What’s some basic info you’d like to share about yourself? Also! What are you studying? (If you’re in college, what’s your major? which semester are you in?)
Hello! I'm second year law student from Poland. I'm 20 yo obsessed with black tea, astrology, tattoos and absolutely not fitting in "typical law student canon" lmao. Also language freak.
An INTP gemini.
Always late.
Day 2- If you’ve chosen a major, why did you decide on it? If you’re in any other grade , what field/major interests you the most?
I major in law and honestly I have no idea why. It was a surreal idea to study it and I just went for it. Turned out I'm quite interested in that, especially in criminal and international law.
I'm gonna give this challenge a try since I need some solid motivation.

Day 2- If you’ve chosen a major, why did you decide on it? If you’re in any other grade , what field/major interests you the most?
My major is electrical engineering. I'm interested in robotics and system design and want to work in that field. I started out in mechanical but realized it didn't focus where I was interested. it put me behind a bit to make the switch but so far it's been worth it :)

Zoomester Studyblr Challenge
Day 1: Intro!
Hi, I’m Alyssa. I’m 21, my pronouns are she/her, I’m a libra and I’m currently in my third year of college. I live a generally chaotic lifestyle, drink a lot of coffee, and nearly always have a massive to do list, thanks to school, my two jobs, wedding planning, and attempting to be an adult.
I’m a business major (gasp, I know). I’m studying Accounting and Finance, specifically, and this is after obtaining my Criminal Justice degree. Don’t ask me what I plan to do with it all, it changes day to day. Mostly, I just want to find  create some balance and do something worthwhile. Yea, I don’t know what that means either.
Day 2: What’s your major and why’d you chose it?
I picked my criminal justice associate’s degree because I was honestly passionate for it - to this day Deviant Behavior was one of my favorite classes. I spent a long time planning to go into law enforcement - that’s not out of the question yet, but I’m keeping my options open. I’ve learned that there’s a lot more to life than work. I chose to do this one as my associate’s because mostly it helped me get my gen. eds. out of the way at county college and gave me time to figure out what was next. A criminal justice degree alone really isn’t worth all that much, as fascinating as it is.
Now I’m dual majoring in Accounting and Finance at a local private college. It’s cute and small. Accounting makes sense to me - it’s that balance thing, I think. I took a course in high school and enjoyed it. It’s something that law enforcement likes to see - white collar crime and all that - but it also leaves my options open. Everyone needs a good accountant. With all my degrees combined, I’ll have enough credits to sit for the CPA exam. Truthfully, I don’t know if that’s what I’ll be doing when the time comes for it, but it’s nice to know it’s there if I want it.
Day 3:  Have you done a challenge before? If so, how was it? If not, what are you expecting to get out of this experience?
I’ve started a couple challenges before, but I’ve never seen them all through. I get distracted or forget about them and get super far behind. I’m hoping to see this one through. I like the prompts on it, and I’m excited to have some more interaction with the studyblr commnuity.

z o o m e s t e r ; day 2 ; If you’ve chosen a major, why did you decide on it? If you’re in any other grade, what field/major interests you the most? alright, the story of how i found my field is quite random, so let's continue this weird story-time about my life lol (first part here). first of all, i'm not quite sure what a major is supposed to be, it's not what it's called in germany. but, like i told you yesterday, my first choice was nutritional sciences - cause i was a vegan and very interested in nutrition. it turned out to be a flop for me after the first 4 weeks. after that very fast realisation i was confronted with a crisis that involved a lot of partying, working part-time and enjoying the benefits of being enrolled as a student without actually studying. i tindered a lot but generally i just met loads of people in this period, also due to volunteering with amnesty international. this was my way of trying to figure out what to study. and it helped: i met a boy who i was badly crushing on. i met him two times, and he introduced me to sociology. it sounded very interesting and - despite him being a literal fuckboy - i applied to it and started loving it. :) he also introduced me to drugs, btw, but this is another story.

Missed a few days because I was in a weird low place, but I’ve been feeling weirdly productive today so I thought I’d get all caught up :)
Day 1- Introduce yourself! What’s some basic info you’d like to share about yourself? Also! What are you studying? (If you’re in college, what’s your major? which semester are you in?)
Hi! My name’s Bu. I’m from the UK and I’m in the third year of my undergrad, reading for a BA in Arabic with Islamic Studies. I have two dogs and a cat and I also play rugby.
Day 2- If you’ve chosen a major, why did you decide on it? If you’re in any other grade , what field/major interests you the most?
I chose my degree because I was interested in history in high school - but specifically the modules that we did on the Middle East. I also knew that a language would make me more employable, and I liked the flexibility of my course; I can study history, literature, religion, philosophy, sociology - the range is huge!
Day 3- Have you done a challenge before? If so, how was it? If not, what are you expecting to get out of this experience?
I don’t think I’ve ever done and completed a challenge like this before! I’d really like to make some new friends here, because I think being part of this community will help me stay motivated and productive.

Day 2- If you’ve chosen a major, why did you decide on it? If you’re in any other grade , what field/major interests you the most?
I'm not sure what field interests me the most, I'm going to attend all my general classes of physics, meet the different fields and decide a year from now. I don't want to make plans and then disappoint myself.
Day 3- Have you done a challenge before? If so, how was it? If not, what are you expecting to get out of this experience?
No, I haven't done a challenge before. I'm expecting to know myself better, know some of you better and find interesting Tumblrs to give me motivation and aesthetic vibes.

-march 2, 2021 zoomester challenge
Day 2- If you’ve chosen a major, why did you decide on it? If you’re in any other grade, what field/major interests you the most?
I actually changed my major 3 times before I found something that I really loved and that excited me. I went into undergrad as a Biology major on the pre-vet track because I had loved animals ever since I was little, grew up on a farm and just want to help animals. As much as I love the natural sciences, the vet track was something that was decided for me when I was very young, and because I spent so much of my life with that sort of singular goal, I had never really explored my other interests.
My second semester of freshman year I took an intro sociology course just to fill a credit and I absolutely fell in love. I changed my major the next semester to sociology and really enjoyed what I was studying and actually had a lot of fun doing my research papers. Plus! No labs!!
My junior year I studied abroad in Japan, and I took every single sociology course the university had to offer. While I was there, I found my real interest. I loved sociology but the disciple was always a bit too nebulous for me, all the courses I took in Japan (mostly focusing on gender and sexuality) were in the context of Japanese historical and modern life. I did research papers on so many different topics surrounding the idea of gender and sexuality, and I loved every single one of them.
I FINALLY found what I really wanted to study! I came back to the US, changed my major AGAIN and never looked back. Now I’m hoping to eventually get my PhD, expanding on my senior thesis which focused on the representation of male homosexuality in Japan, and to become a professor!

These are the books I got from yesterday's haul. I'm so excited to start reading them!! Two of them I actually read in my high school English classes, but I loved them so much that I thought of getting back in touch with these titles again~
The Buenos Aires Affair one by Manuel Puig was a recommendation from my shopping cart that I thought I would check out
Day 2 of the Zoomester Studyblr Challenge
So as I mentioned before, I'm doing two majors. One of them is sociology, and I'm grateful to say that I love my major! It was the first major I applied under as a prospective uni student, not wanting to go with 'undeclared/undecided' (Nothing wrong with it tho if you're unsure about what you want to study!) Ironically, I feel like I align with the far end of the introverted spectrum but I've always had this curiosity about why and how society functions in the ways that it does. I was so close to applying as a psychology major because individuals and personality have long been interests of mine. But I also knew that I wanted to help people, groups of people. And studying the various inequalities and privileges that exist in our world. So sociology was the way to go :)
As for anthropology, I had enough room in my course schedule to complete another degree if I wanted to (thanks to high school honors classes 😅) And being the nerd that I am, I wanted to study everything so I def jumped on board the opportunity to complete a second degree. I was split between history, human development, and anthropology. Eventually I landed with anthro because I saw how diverse the discipline was. It incorporates linguistics, culture, biology 🤯 And of course archaeology (basically the four anthro sub-disciplines aha). Anthro isn't your stereotypical-Indiana Jones-career. There's a lot you can do and study :)
Anyway, I could go on writing paragraphs about these two disciplines because there is a lot to admire and critique about for each of them. But I encourage anyone to explore and take at least one class if you're in college! Either in soc, anth, or both '3'
Tumblr media
Feel free to ask me questions if you're interested in these disciplines or the social sciences in general! My inbox is always open to chat :)

Day 2: If you’ve chosen a major, why did you decide on it? If you’re in any other grade , what field/major interests you the most?
Well, since the program is only for liberal arts that was the option! I opted for a literature concentration because classics wasn't offered and I just found out today that the Latin minor concentration is no longer offered, so my second minor is currently undecided. I'll probably opt for history because that can set me up nicely for the PhD in classical philology and I'll just take Latin courses for electives I guess. 🤷‍♀️
Anyway, since classics weren't offered as a concentration my second love has always been English. I thought literature would be a good choice because I'd learn how to annotate, analyze, review, read literatures from around the world, read authors of varying races and genders, and read from varying time periods. As a bibliophile, it just seemed prudent. As someone who wants the master's in creative writing, it just seemed wise. And as someone who hated the majority of the other concentration options, it seemed the most sane. 😆
However, if they ever bring forth a classics concentration, I will jump ship faster than a jackalope running downhill on wheels.

March Productivity Challenge
1st March: What are your goals for this month? What's something you're looking forward to?
I will write a post about my goals tomorrow and that’s my plan 😉 I am looking forward to my first day of actual work but I know it won’t be that easy.
2nd March: Do you consider yourself a workaholic? What times do you feel most productive?
I absolutely don’t consider myself a workaholic. I feel most productive when it’s late and everything is quiet, so evenings or nights.

Day 1- Introduce yourself! What’s some basic info you’d like to share about yourself? Also! What are you studying? (If you’re in college, what’s your major? which semester are you in?)
I’m M. I love cats, Philosophy, Computer Science and silly little emojis. I’m a high school student from Europe. I am graduating this year. I want to study in The Netherlands. In order to study at a university I need to pass my final exams. I am taking Computer Science, Mathematics and English at an extended level and am required to take Language & Literature, Mathematics and a foreign language (English) at a basic level. I still have compulsory Physics, German (❤️) and History classes but they don’t matter that much.
Day 2- If you’ve chosen a major, why did you decide on it? If you’re in any other grade , what field/major interests you the most?
I want to do things I’m interested in. So interdisciplinary studies ❤️

So I was very busy yesterday and wasn't able to post. The ends and beginning of months are always the busiest for me. Also, it's funny the tag is zoomester I actually use the Teams platform to teach haha
Day 2- If you’ve chosen a major, why did you decide on it? If you’re in any other grade , what field/major interests you the most?
I honestly don't understand the major and minor stuff? Sorry, it doesn't work like that where I live but I finished my Education Bachelor's degree. I didn't know what to choose to be honest. I didn't know what I wanted but thought that was a good one because it was like a bit open to more possibilities and flexible. Plus I liked working with kids. So I thought it would be easy, foolish me.
Day 3- Have you done a challenge before? If so, how was it? If not, what are you expecting to get out of this experience?
I've never done a challenge before. I decided to try this one because it seemed a good one to start with. I just want it for accountability and motivation.

Day 2- If you’ve chosen a major, why did you decide on it? If you’re in any other grade, what field/major interests you the most?
My major is mathematics because of three reasons.
1) I am not naturally very good at math and I have had a string of most unhelpful math teachers throughout public school so I am trying to catch up to where I ought to be compared to many other people my age.
2)I want to be an engineer but I haven't decided what kind yet. Math is consistent throughout engineering and I don't have any of the necessary math skills to take engineering classes yet anyway.
3) Math is a very universal subject. Since idk what I wanna do for a career math is a good base for all sorts of things, and even if I decide to do something that has almost no math at all a good understanding of math will be impressive as it is a difficult subject for so many people.

^^^ Going back in time here for the photo 30 day studyblr challenge. Day 2: Day 2: A photo of your study space: Most of the set up, complete with doggo. Maybe I'll throw up a pic of my walls at some point, they are covered in cool stuff.
Zoomester Studyblr Challenge Retroactively answering the prompts here. Day 2- If you’ve chosen a major, why did you decide on it? If you’re in any other grade , what field/major interests you the most? I'm at the point where academia lines up with selecting a profession. My personal philosophies are intrinsically humanist, and there is a great personal appeal to being a resource to people during pivotal life events. My history working in inpatient pharmacy has really shifted my gaze to internal medicine, but I feel genetic counseling feeds this desire as well and is focused on my favorite subject from undergrad, genetics. Life has had unexpected outcomes for me, however, so I feel I'll be happy wherever I land as long as it has a medical or biological emphasis
