C-Drama Updates:

The Golden Eyes fluctuates on pacing quality. I'm not sure the Kiev arc even matters, barring perhaps, a couple scenes to advance the main romance (which I didn't like, the main romance is awful because I like the female lead even less than I did before). You could cut the whole thing out and lose nothing of importance. But the Myanmar arc has been surprisingly interesting so far, and there seems to be developments in Zhuang Rui's eyes so there's overarching plot relevance.

I made it to ep 4 of The Moon Brightens For You, and I'm not even annoyed with the lead character anymore because I don't care. I care about none of these characters and nothing for the plot. I might give it a couple more eps because a lot of reviews are fairly positive, but right now it seems like my time with TMBFY will be better served by looking up screencaps of Zheng Fanxing's costuming and dropping the show itself.

I'm in episode two of The Golden Eyes and I already want to fucking throttle Zhuang Rui's obnoxious, greedy friend. OMG. If this guy doesn't fuck everything up for Zhuang Rui at some point I will be shocked. He's dumb as a box of rocks while thinking he's smart, and seems like the kind of character that would throw his grandmother under a bus for five bucks. WORST.

Also, why is the cop lady so sure Zhuang Rui was in cahoots with the robbers? There's zero evidence. Why does she have such an attitude about everything?

The Golden eyes (also known as The Golden Pupil) is a Chinese adventure and fantasy drama from 2019. It consists of 56 episodes and is based on a novel with the same name by Chinese author Dayan.

Summary:

It is said that only individuals with the "spirit language" can possess a pair of Golden Eyes. Zhuang Rui is a simple pawnshop worker when his life was changed forever by a new set of eyes after an accident. When Zhuang Rui's upgrade leads to special magical powers that let him see through everything, he decides to use them to get rich by joining auctions for gemstones and betting on precious antiques. Meanwhile, undercover police officer Miao Feifei, who is suspicious of his actions, decides to tag along for further investigation. With his newly-founded squad, Zhuang Rui searches for the secrets and mysteries behind the Golden Eyes, where he finds out that being bestowed with the magical gift leads to numerous outcomes.
