Once again hating that Long-Distance Best Friend is long-distance and so far away from me, why is the universe so cruel and unsympathetic to me.

i've said this more than a few times before, but it continues to be true. the more I think about Shigaraki letting Spinner join the League of Villains, the funnier it gets. Everything about it - here's a guy Shigaraki has to vet to let into his supervillain battle group, and he's
A hikkikomori country boy from the middle of nowhere with zero criminal experience just somehow finding his way into a big city Villain hideout
showing up in low-budget cosplay based on a serial killer who recently went viral
(because the serial killer went viral)
having to reveal that in the fight against professional superpowered mercenaries, his power... is to climb walls
then asking for a giant sword made out of dozens of knives duct taped together as his main weapon. (They'd have to pay money for this.)
And Shigaraki said 'sure' to all of it. Is it any surprise he's dedicating his destruction of Mt. Fuji to Spinner? We all talk about Spinner's giant crush on Shigaraki, but i think Shigaraki is actually the one got a crush first, moment he first saw the guy.

I'm still thinking about that Ahsoka clown show. I watched everything in one go to get it over with quickly, mostly so I could see for myself what a piece of shit it is and how badly it trashed Rebels, but now I can't stop thinking about the sheer stupidity of it all...
Tumblr media
I have some thoughts that I just need to get off my chest so I'm not brooding about it forever.
First of all, the characters.
Ahsoka is, in my opinion, totally miscast. I've always said that Ashley Eckstein deserved the vast bulk of the credit for Ahsoka's personality and popularity; this show really underscores that. I don't know this bish. Rebels Ahsoka was really perfect- a little older, a little wiser, a little more subdued, but she still had the sense of humor and lightness of Ahsoka. She was entirely recognizable as herself. Dawson did not remotely nail the characterization. And those contacts are AWFUL. I don't know if y'all watched The Witcher, but I do not understand why Disney couldn't afford the same animation that made Yennifer's and Geralt's eyes look totally normal and real. I guess it wasn't in the budget to make the characters look a little less like nightmare fuel.
Speaking of nightmare fuel contacts, I can't really say whether I think Hera was miscast or if Filoni just didn't give a fuck about directing MEW properly or what. She looked like shit, though, so it was difficult to focus on her performance. I get that it's hard to translate animated characters to live-action, and I don't think anyone expected Hera to look like her animated self, but I also don't think anyone expected LFL to phone it in, either. I mean, I've seen homemade cosplay costumes that looked a million times better. Her appearance, the artificial bounce of her lekku whenever she moved her head, THOSE CONTACTS- I really couldn't tell you whether MEW was miscast or not. She seemed like MEW in cosplay to me, though.
Writing-wise, Hera was...not good. I don't have the energy to really unpack all of it, but basically, I didn't get the impression that Filoni put any thought whatsoever into her characterization. I don't think he put a lot of thought into ANY of it. If he did, that's just sad, because none of the characterizations suggested that he utilized a single shred of logic in writing these people.
I mean, just at the most basic level: Hera is still a general. She was made a captain and then a general in a relatively short period (not that she didn't deserve it), and now here we are, over a decade later, and she's still a general? She's certainly a decorated war hero by this time, and yet, she's still a general. She should have made admiral or whatever by now, and anyone who understands this character would never suggest that she would turn down that position, especially if she's still a working member of the New Republic fleet.
I really thought we'd get a little more information about Jacen, or a little more about their relationship, but I was very naive to think so. Who cares about the relationships between characters when there's a MAP TO THRAWN?
I really don't have the energy to unpack how completely dumb the entire plot is. Why is there a map to Thrawn? Who put it there and for what purpose and why does that golden snitch ball that's clearly been there a while know where the fuck Thrawn is and, quite frankly, who fucking cares?
Thrawn was laughable, of course. A boring shadow of Zahn's version, a mustache-twirling villain who has no purpose other than EMPIRE GOOD REBELS BAD. Zero logic was employed in any of this, which is hilarious considering who the character is. Mikkelsen did the best he could, but my god, what a waste of talent.
Speaking of wastes of talent, Natasha Liu Bordizzo was a surprisingly good Sabine, given what she had to work with. I think she acquitted herself really well, and certainly better than Rosario Dawson. That being said, the entire thrust of her character's arc was really brain-numbingly stupid. Why in the galaxy did Flioni think it was an interesting (his favorite word) idea to make Sabine Ahsoka's apprentice?
The logic of this decision is flawed at a basic level. Huyang correctly informs Sabine that she has no talent whatsoever for using the Force. Meanwhile, there are an untold number of Force-sensitive children being located all over the GFFA- that Ahsoka herself was helping to keep safe from the Empire- that she could have been training if she so desperately needed a padawan. Indeed, there's a potential padawan right under her nose with manic panic-dyed green hair! (I know this is a setup for the inevitable season 2, in which Ezra will become Jacen's mentor, but the point stands).
Let's unpack this, though. Yes, George Lucas did say that every living being has the Force and anyone could become a Jedi- from a certain point of view. But when you take into account that actual Jedi underwent decades of training, starting from a young age, no reasonable person could posit that a regular ass person with zero ability to use the Force could just become a Jedi- or be able to actually use the Force- with just a handful of years of training. The Order wasn't training regular ass people with no aptitude FOR A REASON. The reason being, of course, that if it takes a person with "abilities" decades to become a Jedi Knight, of course, it would take even longer for someone without those abilities! This is where the plot point goes off the rails and breaks the lore. It's not lore-breaking that just anyone can become a Jedi. It's lore-breaking that just anyone can become a Jedi in less time than it would take for someone with actual Force abilities to do so.
The other problem is that word: "Jedi". The specificity of it is an issue. Because it's not like badass characters with Force-like abilities don't exist. Chirrut Imwe exists, for example. It's not like Sabine wasn't already highly skilled as a warrior, trained to wield the fucking darksaber. Mandalorians bested Jedi in combat. It's not an untouched concept. But Filoni needed to put some kind of stupid bookend on Ahsoka's arc of coming to terms with the whole Anakin thing, so we ended up with this garbage master/padawan where, apparently, Sabine's now able to use to fucking Force because she...wanted it a lot? Or something?
I don't know. It's all very stupid.
Eman Esfandi was another waste of great casting, I actually really liked him as Ezra. I felt like he really got the character and nailed the snarky Ezra line deliveries. The scenes between him and Sabine worked, too. If the show was just the two of them causing havoc across the galaxy- and, I guess, now intergalactic space jesus fucking christ- that would have been a much better show. I also liked the scene with Huyang and Ezra basically remaking Kanan's lightsaber, although I was a little baffled that Ezra didn't know why Huyang knew Kanan/Caleb. Like, duhhhh bro?? He could have worked that out for himself. I guess it had to be *explained* for the people who didn't watch Rebels or whatever, but surely there was a better way to do it than that?
It all read, to me, like bad fan fiction written by someone who watched Rebels one time and was playing games on their phone through the whole thing. I think Filoni thinks to himself, "Well, George didn't explain everything. His stuff didn't make sense, he retconned shit, he did whatever. So it's fine if I do that too." Okay, but bro, those are the things Lucas constantly got shit on for doing! Those are not aspirational qualities! I see fans constantly utilizing this excuse, too. "Well, that's what George did!" Yeah, and what George did often was actually Not Good for many reasons. Not to mention the fact that a lot of the stuff cited as "George did it!" is actually misinterpreted. Like the commonly held belief that he just made the story up as he went along, which is fully false. He changed the story as he went along, but he always knew what the core story was. FILONI is the one who just makes the story up as he goes along, and not well, either. In the instances where he did have a lot of time to think about the story, like with the Siege of Mandalore or Ahsoka and Vader's confrontation on Malachor, those arcs hold up much more strongly than other arcs (though they still have inconsistencies and flaws).
Now, to be fair, I wouldn't want his job. Specifically, I wouldn't want it because I would drive myself batshit trying to get every single thing exactly right, and Filoni clearly doesn't bother himself about that. Disney most certainly cares less about the quality of the product than the profit, anyway, so he's a perfect fit for that kind of model.
I could keep going about this for about 100 more paragraphs, almost everything in that show was dumb and nonsensical to the degree that it actually blew my mind that it could be that bad. I don't even understand how you take something like Rebels and turn it to shit. But he was already on that trajectory when he took over more of the writing duties on Rebels season 4 (and it showed). In fact, it's worth noting that this house of cards called Ahsoka is built atop the crooked, shaky table that is Rebels season 4. Instead of fixing the table, he just added another deck of cards (all jokers).
I'm going to close this out with some lingering questions.
Where the fuck was Zeb? (I know the real-life answer to this one: the animation cost too much and they didn't have the budget).
Seriously, where was Ahsoka during the war? There should be a GOOD answer to this, considering she's a fucking former Jedi. Especially considering the children of her former master were running around and probably needed some fucking help. My guess is that there will never be a good answer to this- if there's ever even an answer at all.
Why was Ezra wearing stormtrooper armor when he landed? Did he want to get shot? For that matter, why the fuck would the NR fleet let him land at all without identifying himself first??? There were so many other ways that scene could have been done that made sense and let us actually see Hera and Ezra HUG, but fuck that, right? Who needs sense and logic? WHO NEEDS HUGS? (me. the answer is that I needed them to hug because he's her adopted kid and KANAN'S PADAWAN???? HELLO??? Fucking Filoni, my god. The worst.)
Jacen. Like, everything about this kid, really. I guess they just decided green hair was going to be the full extent of the genes he got from his mother. Just in case you didn't fully absorb the fact that his father was Human Jedi Guy Kanan Jarrus.
So Huyang's around but he's not setting up Luke's students with lightsabers, he's just basically Ahsoka's droid butler? Okay.
I have a headache now, so I'm going to stop ranting. if you made it this far, I can only assume you hate Filoni as much as I do, and I appreciate that about you!

Okay, so I have asked this question to Google, I have asked this question to several different firearms forums, and I have gotten WILDLY conflicting answers. So now I'm asking you, hoping that your answer will sound like at least one I've gotten before, and because I think you do generally know what you're talking about re:firearms and aren't just cosplaying with it.
I live in a suburban area that is very quickly turning terrifyingly MAGA culty. We've had two hate crime attacks against visibly queer people in the last three months within four miles of my house. I want to get a gun for self-defense, because I am an intersex woman who often gets mistaken for some kind of trans regardless of how I dress.
I intend to get a carry and conceal permit, and have access to a shooting range where I probably won't get hate crime'd (although the man who runs it was worse than useless for recommendations...) But I have zero experience with guns, and I just don't know where to start. I know I want a handgun. I've been told to start with everything from a Glock 9mm to a Taurus revolver. (I've also been told 9mm guns are too big/kicky for most women to handle comfortably...)
Assuming a budget of "keep it under $1,000" do you have any suggestions? I just want something reliable, with cheap/common ammo so I can practice regularly, that will get me out of a potential tranny-bashing attempt if it comes down to it.
So a part of this comes down to how tall you are and what kind of build you have. I can conceal basically fucking anything because I'm physically massive, but my 5'3" partner is going to have less options in that respect. Generally, the recommendation is a Glock 19. It's a quite small gun and easy to conceal, but it's big enough that it's very easy to shoot. 9mm is by far going to be the most economical cartridge to shoot that isn't .22lr, so you'll be able to train a lot more. Glock 19 has a striker-fired mechanism that's gonna be a lot easier for an inexperienced shooter to pick up and get proficient with, parts availability is a huge fucking deal and almost universal for glocks. If you get one gun, the best choice at this moment is a G19.
That said. There is some room for variance. If you're a smaller person you may need a smaller gun to conceal consistently. This will push you into the micro-nine category, which is going to shoot stiffer in 9mm than a larger compact-size gun. They feel a bit stout to my hand, so I figure they're gonna be a lot more difficult to a smaller person. My partner didn't like a G26, but liked a G19. Sig does make the P365-380, which I'm considering getting my partner to carry. .380ACP, again a tradeoff, is more expensive than 9mm, and it's less powerful. There is very specific premium ammunition you need to buy in order to make it perform the way you want, which is meeting FBI ballistic standards. You can do it, but it's tough. And there are only a couple guns on the market chambered in .380 that would be notably easier to shoot than a 9mm, as most .380s tend to be tiny pocket pistols which suck to shoot.
All things considered, I think the G19 would be the best option. Gen 5. GSSF. Set it up like the post I wrote, you can have an extremely capable gun for under $1000. If you're concerned about concealability, Armed and Styled and Phlster have really good videos explaining a range of concealment concepts, including gun size for your frame. I also feel like Lucky Gunner Lounge gives some very positive advice on guns for defense.
A few thoughts
Revolvers are shit outside of extremely specific applications.
Striker-fired triggers are the best option for newer shooters, alternatives being single-action (easier to shoot, far less safe to carry) and double/single (a lot more training is needed to shoot these accurately, but the tradeoff is additional safety.) Striker triggers, particularly the Glock's, make a sort of middle-ground of safety and performance. The Gen 5s have pretty nice triggers.
Tiny guns are really hard to shoot, many consider them extremely unpleasant.
No matter what you carry, shot placement is king. Your cartridge is only as good as the hits you can make. So practice a ton. Practice dry fire a ton. Practice your drawstroke a ton.
A lot of cheap guns are shitty and dangerous. There are only a few budget guns currently on the new-market which are any good.
Get a can of POM pepper spray with the pocket clip, carry it left side wherever you go. Get a couple inert practice cans to fuck around with.
Learning to defend yourself is adopting a mindset, a series of skills, and the tools to apply them.
Any questions, feel free to ask. I'm sure a G19 will be amicable. See if you can find a rental range to try one out. There are a couple alternatives if you feel like 9mm really is too much, but that's a conversation I feel I need to have personally.

LAITO APPRECIATION WEEK 2022 DAY 7
My cat is trying to eat my food while i wreite this, but its day 7! Head canons!
Ok, I dont have a lot of head canons but thats okie. Some NSFW-7&8
Laito doesn't understand art/artists- In the Zero CD he said a little line of how he doesn't get the mind of an artist. So I just think he just isn't a person who never understood art. Sure he likes how pretty some works and appreciates the skill but the deeper meaning? No. He just can't connect just see's how it is, a painted image. (As a Laito stan and artist, I was hurt)
I feel that Laito is questioning his sexutily, but he has soo many things going in that head of his-plus the time era he was born into, he just says his straight.
Laito could be a stripper. I can see it and it is everything-more than likely gets fired a lot bc he gets too close to the girls
His crosswords puzzles are like a stress reliver. He gets to do what he does best by working that smart brain of his, and he gets to only think about getting the word puzzle done
I can see Laito doing a little bit of make-up on himself. Not like a lot, lot but like little touches on like his eyebrows, lips, eyelids. You don't even think it's make-up, you just think thats how pretty he is.
Wait, he pretty :). I promoise I am not saying that bc I love him(I think Shuu is the prettiest Sakamaki) Wait let me gets some pics, I have a whole Pinterest board on how I think he looks/him in a relationship.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kinda just like mix these dudes and you have Laito-for me :)
7. We know his a kinky motherfucker. But I feel his just a gentle lover at times, when he wants to express how much he loves you/when he fucks up, I feel he gives real passionate, slow sex. I don't think I need to say this but, that sex good :)
8. I dont think Laito would like to be the sub. He needs to be in control and to be honest, I think it would just trigger him and remind him of his mother. Maybe when he heals more he'll be into more.
To end the week, here are my budget cosplay of Laito. -might have been for a Halloween party

1. Are you named after anyone? Nope.
2.  When was the last time you cried? This morning.
3. Do you use sarcasm? Yes, probably more than any other form of humor.
4. What’s the first thing you notice about people? Probably their hair? Hair or eyes. But I think a person’s hair style can tell you a lot about them.
5.  What’s your eye color? Med-dark blue.
6. Scary movie or happy ending? I agree with @allsystemsblue: scary with a happy ending. Part of why I love Malignant is because it’s a crazy, gory horror movie with a my little pony message at the end. Wholesome. And yes, I do want a Babadook in my basement. I also want a basement.
7. Any special talents? Costuming on a budget lol. I’m too cheap to commission pieces and I’m not crafty enough to make my own bespoke costume pieces, but I’ve gotten pretty good at flipping items from thrift stores and the like to make a passable costume.
8. Where were you born? Army base in AZ.
9. What are your hobbies? writing, rping, painting, sometimes I make masks/cosplay
10. Do you have any pets? A bald ass bitch tarantula.
11. What sports do you play/have played? Nada. None. Zero.
12. How tall are you? 5′9″
13. What was your favorite subject in school? History, drama (in high school), I majored in English but it was never my favorite subject tbh, my guidance counselor just literally wouldn’t help me schedule classes until I declared a major.
14.  Dream job? I would love a quiet life where I have time to focus and write all day but like...what is focus? Who has the time? Second choice: costume designer.
Tagging: nobody because I don’t know any of you.

M6 as Cosplayers
Asra:
Likes to cosplay but is pretty chill about it.
Will put in the work to make the outfits, but doesn’t fuss about being 100% accurate or detailed. It’s all for fun, so why worry too much.
Prefers to do couples cosplay with MC, or to rope Muriel into a matching one, but will happily solo as well.
Example cosplays: Riku from Kingdom Hearts, Kotaro Tastsumi from Zombie Land Saga, and Disney prince/princess if MC joins him.
Nadia:
Nadia has the best cosplays hands down.
It helps being able to afford commissioning outfits, wigs, etc, but she’s also really good at making mechanical props (like moving bird wings).
Second best make-up game, but it’s a very close second.
Will often create original characters just to show off her prop making skills.
Example non-oc cosplay: Bayonetta, Lady Dimitrescu fromRE8, and Urabosa from BoTW
Julian:
This guy was a drama kid, so cosplay is right up his alley.
He’s not great at making the outfits, but that’s what he’s got his sister for! His talent is more in getting into character (makes him the best at tiktok cosplay)
Prefers cosplays that allow him to hide his eye, and the scars around it, especially if the character is already wearing an eyepatch/facial covering.
Example cosplays: Majima from Yakuza, Dmitri from FE Three Houses, and Corvo from Dishonored.
Muriel:
Absolutely does closest cosplay when he’s forced to dress up.
Would wear a shirt saying “this is my cosplay”. That’s the level of effort you get out of him
Really doesn’t want to be here, but Asra made him join.
He’ll use his woodworking skills to help Asra or MC with making their cosplays, but otherwise doesn’t really understand the appeal.
Example cosplay: Whatever MC asks him to wear, so long as it isn’t super revealing.
Portia:
Adores cosplaying! She loves everything about it, from making dresses, styling wigs, doing makeup. She isn’t expert level, but she’s got some skills.
A resourceful cosplayer. She can work wizardry with almost anything, finding the most random odds and ends to turn into props or accessories. Also knows how to cosplay on a budget, though she will splurge sometimes.
Likes to do off the wall creative cosplays the best, ones where she can have fun.
Example cosplays: Pokemon Gijinka, [any character] but with fishnets, and Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn
Lucio:
All of his cosplays are commissioned specifically for him. He can’t be bothered to make any of the pieces and he has the money, so why not.
He does his own make up though, and it’s always on point.
Prefers to either do sexy bad guys, or hero characters, and insists that MC couple cosplay (with him commissioning them an outfit, please MC they have to be the same level of quality or it won’t work, no, I’m not saying your bad at making cosplays –sweats-)
Favorite cosplays: Both Cloud and Sephiroth from FF7 (he just can’t decide), and Dio from Jojo’s

Might I please ask what you like best about Carmen Sandiego? (Reading your mention of her in connection to the Fantomas of Mexico has roused my interest!).
Tumblr media
I think it's really wild and cool that one day a bunch of people sat down and thought "hey, let's try and make geography fun for kids by dressing it up in a fun heist story" for a game, and then they made a franchise out of it and somehow they ended up creating the most iconic gentleman thief in fiction alongside Arsene Lupin, Robin Hood and Catwoman, characters with much, much, much more history and budget behind them that's ever been afforded any Carmen Sandiego project, who's never even had a film to her outside of animated specials.
Carmen is one of those characters who hooked people worldwide from design alone and has achieved the kind of global fame that vastly surpasses the amount of people who've ever played the games or watched the cartoons. In a sense you could even argue she is one of the most iconic videogame characters, but her popularity vastly transcends the games themselves. I don't personally know anyone who's ever played the games or watched the cartoons but I can damn well guarantee you they could picture Carmen Sandiego from memory if I asked them to. She has a slick design and a cool attitude and a catchy theme song and those three go a loooong way in making characters popular and timeless regardless of how humble their beginnings.
I see people lament a lot that we don't have many modern superheroes or pulp heroes or even heroes in general being created and that we're mostly just repackaging the old ones, and there's some truth to that, but the existence of characters like Carmen is stone-cold object proof that the most popular and greatest of characters can come from anywhere. It's like that Ratatouille saying, great art can come from anywhere.
Tumblr media
I do admit I'm not as schooled on Carmen because so far I've only really watched the Netflix cartoon, which I dearly loved and will probably rewatch soon. I understand it took several liberties to make Carmen a good guy which is usually not the case, which is something I'd normally abhor. I didn't mind it because I didn't have any history with Carmen, and because I thought it was the smart move for a reboot of the franchise. Not that I'm criticizing the previous works, not at all I actually intend to check them out someday, but if there's ever, in the history of fiction, existed a villain who was obviously 100% guaranteed to work in an anti-hero reimagining, it was Carmen Sandiego.
Of course they are gonna make Carmen an anti-hero, her name on's the title and she's the one everyone's tuning in to watch. Carmen is grade-A protagonist material, and given how deprived we usually are of good and badass and popular latino characters I have zero complaints whatsoever with the change, even if it makes her less interesting in some aspects. Of course they took a look at the smart, cool, superhumanly capable and dashing latina thief and didn't go "actually, she's the villain so we gotta focus on the government agents out to catch her", fucking look at her. Even I want to cosplay Carmen, her look alone is way too good.
Frankly I was very happy to see Gina Rodriguez in the role (and if any of you guys ever consider watching Jane the Virgin, please watch it if only for Yael Groblgas and Jamie Camil's performances, I did not regret a second of screentime they were on) and I eagerly look forward to the future of Carmen Sandiego as a property now that they've achieved the ever-so-rare successful reboot. I'm glad the show had a good run and got to end on a high note but I eagerly hope to see it's characters again.
Also Shadow-san is best dad

time: anywhere from a few days to two weeks
2. L deathnote:
pros: childhood dream come true i’ve wanted to cosplay L since i was 15
cons: i’d have to grow out my hair, i dont wanna walk around barefoot, i wouldnt get to do any costume-making because this is literally the most zero-effort character costume of all time
budget: 0
time: also 0
3. black-haired howl:
pros: i have The Vibe (tee em) and all the necessary costume pieces
cons: see above complaints abt zero-effort costumes, also if im gonna cosplay howl i might as well go the whole nine yards and do the iconic jacket + blonde hair look.

time: 0
4. levi

cons: CRINGE ASS WEEB (also i am not nearly pretty enough)

Horizon Zero Dawn Has Conquered the 20 Million Copies Sold Mountain
Horizon Zero Dawn Has Conquered the 20 Million Copies Sold Mountain
Seeing as how Horizon Zero Dawn had a modest budget of $45 million, you know Sony is loving the fact that the game has sold over 20 million copies on the PS4 and PC as of November 2021! Releasing a new IP is always a risky bet in the world of gaming. Thankfully Aloy and her robo-pals overcame the odds to be a success franchise which has hold multiple crossovers, a dedicated cosplay community,…

F*ck Batman
After i finished the first season of His Dark Materials, i figured i might as well check out the other shows I've heard are good but were behind some ridiculous paywall i had no interest overcoming. There were a few candidates, Euphoria and Chernobyl were definitely at the top of that list but i wanted something a little lighter, a little more fantastical so i opted to check out Titans. I’m not a DC dude but my people who are, say this thing is pretty okay. I wanted to see for myself so i ran threw both seasons. I ain’t like. I was entertained but i can’t say I'm fan. There is merit to this show and it might get it’s sh*t together enough going into that third season, also getting that HBO money, but i was left wanting. However, upon my viewing, i noticed some things. This isn’t a review, but more sh*t that made an impression.
I really, really, liked this version of Raven. The youngster they got to portray her, Teagan Croft, is perfect in the role. I absolutely loved every second onscreen, even if that whole “I’m terrified of my powers” arc lasted WAY too long.
How the f*ck was Trigon the very first big bad? How you blow your load that fast? That’s like the DCEU going from zero to Doomsday in two movies. The f*ck?
Speaking of Trigon, those effects were awful. This show really needed that infusion of HBO/ATT money because whoa.
And as if to drive my point home even further, f*cking Dr. Light’s costume is mad terrible. Like, the worst. None of the costumes are really any good, except for Donna Troy’s and kind of Nightwing’s? The rest are high end cosplay at best.
Trigon to Deathstroke? For real? Whatever, bro.
Didn’t expect Ravager so soon. Absolutely love that Ravager is here. Chelsea Zhang is mad dope and embodies the character perfectly. She’s snarky, cunning, violent, and every bit the Rose Wilson i expect.
Surprised to see the Atomic Family in anything, ever. That sh*t was a super-deep cut. I had to look that sh*t up to make sure i was seeing what i was seeing.
Papa Dick is the best Dick.
The guy who plays Jason Todd has a weird f*cking face and it wigs me out every time he’s onscreen.
The music in this show is pretty bloody excellent. I kind of feel like that's where all of the budget went because, goddamn, there are some bops in this thing, for sure. That opening theme is f*cking ridiculous!
What the f*ck is going on with Hawk and Dove? They’re metahumans, literally the personification of war and peace. Who the f*ck greenlit these versions? They’re both just assholes in hockey pads with debilitating anger issues. Sh*t whack son.
Also, Hawk dick don’t work.
And Dove wants the Dick dick.
Lots of filler episodes, man. It feels like I'm watching an old anime from the Nineties.
Starfire took an entire season to grow on me. Anna Diop, the chick who plays her, was awful in at the start of the show but she got much better toward the end. She really came into her own, though, the second they teamed her up with Donna. They have great chemistry together.
Lots of wholesale murder, man. Like, so much murder. Constant stream of bodies, on both sides of the conflict. Sh*t is wild. I don't understand how Supes exist in this world, catching bodies like it's a baseball game out there. Bunch of f*cking costumed psychopaths just out in the streets, brutalizing people to death.
Show suffers from that “too many villains” thing. Just in the second season, you start with Trigon, move on to Doctor Light, then Deathstroke shows up, but the ultimate bad is CADMUS shenanigans. Also, Rachel is still doing her weird demon sh*t on the side, too.
I like Donna as much as i like Raven. Conor Leslie was chef kiss level casting. Also, i mean, she’s gorgeous.
I like the level of diversity in this cast. Lots of representation onscreen. Kind of wish there were more black folks, though.
Lots of melodrama. So much forced melodrama. I get that this is a teeny drama like experience but too much is too much, you know? I can only take so much teenage angst before i completely disconnect.
Titans is a decent watch, not really a decent show. it’s kind of all over the place but i understand the intent. I’m not super into all of the edgy, grimdark, reimaginings and this show has a REAL bad case of that but there are a lot of good ideas in it. I’m not a DC guy so this was a hard sell for me and the pitch was good, but not good enough. I imagine fans of the comics or the old cartoon show might like this take but, for me? Meh.

"talk to me about makeup" - it's more of a question, but: do you have any tips for someone who has absolutely zero knowledge here but would like to learn some basics? (officially for cosplay, inofficially for .. other reasons), plus confession: while the cosplay was a genuine reason in the beginning I think that shifted to mostly a fassade for the "other reasons" - btw 😊 and 😇
Oh gosh, I may not be the best person to ask - I don't wear makeup terribly often - but I'll give it my best try!
Only wear as much or as little makeup as you feel comfortable doing
Anyone who says you "have to" do X Y or Z is caught in their own mental trap. There aren't really rules when or comes to makeup, and you can do whatever you want however you want in whatever order
Same goes for using certain brands and brushes/tools. Makeup is an art form with guidelines and recommendations at best, not a game with strict rules. You can get just as striking a look being a pro model with a styling team as you can being a middleschool girl in 2004 smudging eyeshadow with your fingertips and using drugstore mascara.
Take care of your products and tools or be willing to replace them.
As a health and safety precaution, take steps to avoid sharing eye makeup with others and any product used on the face if you or the other person are sick.
You will absolutely have to practice with it if you want to use liquid eyeliner. No one is good on their first attempt. A tip I got from my husband is when you start with it, practice X times in a row where X is your age in years. I didn't do this because I'm double the age of many teenagers who start exploring makeup (get off my lawn) but it seems like solid practice advice.
Glitter counts
Your most important tool is makeup remover. I like Neutrogena's removal wipes, but for fine fixes or delicate areas around the eyes it can be convenient to have a liquid that you can pump or dab onto cotton swabs
My personal opinion is that "natural makeup" is a marketing scam. People who use it are faultless (I have no cause to judge someone for preferring a "natural look" to their natural face. There are any number of reasons why someone might.), but the companies that heavily promote it are largely scammers and grifters in my eyes. I want to feel like an artist or a kindergartener when I'm wearing makeup.
Budget your time. Until you're well practiced, it will take longer than you think.
Just cos it's cheap doesn't mean it's bad. Ask friends and trusted colleagues about recommendations, esp if you're on a budget. There are a ton of small and independent manufacturers out there too - don't feel like you're locked in by rimmel, maybelline, and sephora
In the words of Ms Frizzle, "take chances, make mistakes, get messy!" Makeup is an exploration and a journey to discover what makes you feel best about your costume and/or yourself, not a task to be performed perfectly (unless that's an approach that excites you about it, in which case please by all means look at it that way!)
Speaking of glitter, using it is like abuela's cooking - you'll feel it in your heart if you've used too much or too little or if it's just right
