#you just know most guys who watch it hate skylar
Note
hi!!! here’s my responses to the ask thing lol
have fun!! tyt <3
* ceilings- lizzie mcalpine: verse 2, the chorus and outro! because first of all, the second verse is so pretty and it reminds me of the listener of the verge accident; the chorus because it’s so relatable to me for personal reasons; the outro because it’s so beautiful and i love how it feels like a coming of age moment out of a movie
* type six- the loyal guardian
* kind of, i don’t know if these count but i love watching long documentaries on true crime or the life of artists who passed away
* i’m not sure if i had one tbh; i did. have a great imagination and played outside a lot as a kid, but i don’t remember having an imaginary friend
* i need some sort of sound and a little bit of light to fall asleep; i hate total silence and i don’t like being in complete darkness; as of over a year now i usually fall asleep to redacted sleep aids if i’m not tired enough
* interesting question; idk if i’d change my name now, but if i did it would probably be something unique like Aline (which is my lovely’s name actually!) fun fact when i was younger i did wanna change my name to Skylar for some reason
* THIS IS TOO HARD I HAVE SO MANY FAVORITES- ughhhh my top favorite is a tie between probably huxley’s confession audio, and the recent avior audio; huxley because the bridging and relationship is beautiful, and avior because i love the storyline and relationship too
* blake. like i see so many blake apologists and i’m like w h y ? i ofc listen to his audios because of the plot, and the sleep aid is actually good, but i just don’t understand the hype about a dude who kidnapped people, whether it was to save his friend or not.
* it’s a mix of the maze runner and the hunger games, i grew up with it so of course i know it. also all of the hsm movies and most og disney channel movies- i love them to this day.
* i would LOVE to be friends with asher, he just seems like the kind of guy you’d go to for ANYTHING, whether it’s to hang out or to rant about the bad stuff going on in you’re life; i’d love to have him as a friend!
* this is something i haven’t thought about- i think i rant about the kind of day i’m going to have tomorrow?
* coca-cola slurpee, a water and a sweet and salty combo, like a kit kat and these guac chips i love
* my fav playlist is one i made with all 5sos and 1D songs…
* tiktok, i gave into it in quarantine and now i’m addicted.
* well, i’m an aries, i’m 5’7, i love video games and musicals, and my love language is a mix of physical touch and quality time :)
Tumblr media
Everything here- the enneagram type, the movie choices, the music taste, even the boys you don’t like- wants me to point you in the direction of our favorite best friend turned boyfriend, dreamwalker, Elliott.
I don’t know about you, but, for me, DCOMs and One Direction are so wonderfully nostalgic; they remind me of, like, youth and high school and all that comes with it. Elliott also gives me that vibe, of something slash someone that’s comfortable and joyful and timeless, that continues to brighten up your life. Your relationship would be so full of love and long car rides screaming What Makes You Beautiful and sending silly Tiktoks instead of good morning texts and outdated Cadet Kelly references only the two of you understand.
That’s also why I like him for you as a Type Six, as Sixes tend to desire support and security in life and a partner, someone they can rely on. Elliott, both as a friend and a partner, is immensely dependable and caring. He would always be looking out for you, and honestly? Man’s was- what, the top of his class at Dream Manipulation something or other? He’s a big shot. He could support you emotionally and financially, and that’s attractive.
Song:
Soft shock, put a spring in my step/ We touch and it's static/ This love's cinematic/ Where does dreaming end and waking begin?
I thought really hard about choosing a 1D song for this, but I wanted to pick something new. Also, I’ve been holding onto this song, just waiting for someone to get Elliott, and I will not let this opportunity pass me by. It’s a little lofi, a little pining and sweet… it even mentions dreaming. It was made for y’all!
Runner-Ups:
Huxley works really well with both your Ennegram type and love languages; I stick by him being a fantastic match for a Six, and I can’t imagine anyone better to receive Physical Touch from than him. Guy, I like for you because I one hundred percent believe that man genuinely, unironically loves a good boy band and isn’t ashamed to admit it.
Note: tiktok got us all during quarantine I feel that
Read this post and send me an ask if you’d like a match-up of your own! 💌

What's your personal opinion on why Elite Force was so bad? Since I've ranted about that a lot and started the 'elite discourse' tag.
Introduction
I don’t think it was really bad. Yes, it was terrible compared to Lab Rats and Mighty Med (of which both deserved more seasons since they both set up so much and than threw it all away), but it wasn’t too bad. Why it was bad, though? They undid all character development, overlooked some of the best characters, and so much more!
Chase
There’s a lot wrong with Chase. First of all, they undid all of his character development and reduced him to a self-centered smart guy. (I’m not gonna say a mini version of Donald because he’s really more like Douglas, but they really just threw away his character.) And for character archs. When AJ made his list, he put Chase at the bottom. A good thing to point out is that this list was based off of the number of powers each person has and the number of powers each person has alone. So lets count how many powers they all have:
Kaz: Pyrokinesis and Flight Oliver: Cryokinesis, Flight, and Super Strength Bree: Super Speed, Vocal Manipulation, Invisibility, and Super Agillity Chase: Molecular Kinesis, Force Fields, Super Intelligence, Super Senses, Laser Bo Generation, and the Commando App (technically Super Strength as well, but that’s only Spike) Skylar: Flight, Super Strength, Super Speed, Acid Spit, Regeneration, and 21 other abilities (10 after the whole thing with Bree, but that still leaves her with the most) CHASE SHOULD BE #2 ON THAT LIST!!
And even if this wasn’t based on only their powers, he’d still be at #2!!
Then we have the Arcturian. The Arcturian Space Rock will kill you if you make direct contact with it, key word being direct. So Bree, being NUMBER #3 on the list (did I mention they overlooked her abilities, too, with the exception of one throw away line?), decided to touch it. After a series of events, she gets superpowers from it.
Bree got superpowers.
Because she was insecure about her bionic powers.
THIS WAS CHASE’S ENTIRE ARCH FROM THE BEGINNING!
And he wasn’t only insecure about his powers, he was insecure about his appearance, self-worth, and a ton of other things.
This arch was engineered for Chase, and they threw it away in favor of Bree.
Skoliver
Skylar and Oliver was the main romance of Mighty Med. Oliver had a crush on Skylar and Skylar was a lesbian didn’t reciprocate. This didn’t stop Oliver from trying to get with her, though. But the difference between Oliver persevering in Mighty Med and Olvier persevering in Elite Force is that in Mighty Med, he did it in a healthy, respectful way. In Elite Force, he became a stalker!
He watched her in her sleep, recorded her without permission, had a pretend version of her that he was dating, and more.
They turned a really nice thing from Mighty Med into something terrible just so that they could put less time into coming up with actual jokes. (The writers of these shows never really handled healthy relationships and comedy well, if Adam and Chase’s relationship says anything, but you would think [I’m only saying this because its Disney] they would put more effort into a romantic relationship.) The worst part about this is that they got together somewhat in the end of Elite Force.
Reese
Reese existed as a way to lead us to the finale of the show. She also existed as a love interest for Chase. She had the potential to be Elite Force’s Marcus or Experion, but they just didn’t do it right.
The Lab Rats’ relationship with Marcus was built over the course of two seasons, which let both the audience and the characters get to know him. Sure, we knew he was evil before everyone else, but how evil he truly was changed up until Douglas’ plan was finally revealed. He was also really close to a lot of the characters, so that makes it really painful.
Experion was one of Skylar’s close friends, almost like a brother, and we saw that play out on screen. He was only there for a short amount of time, just as Reese was, but he was already in a predetermined relationship with him. Reese had literally only met Chase that day, meaning that connection just wasn’t there.
(Also, was Reese just there to degay Chase? Because that’s what it seems like.)
Representation And Other Things Of The Sort
Lab Rats was a show that had a family in which half of it was married into. Shows have done this before, yes, but this showed the kids really just excepting it and not getting mad at their respective family. This was also a mixed family, which watching now that I’m older and really understand the importance of it, is really nice. Especially as a mixed person myself.
As for Mighty Med, and I’m starting with family again, it had a father figure who, more or less, actually cared about his kid(s) and was active in their life. It also showed him, a person of color, in a position of power. Skylar, who is a woman of color, was a badass who wasn’t boy crazy. She didn’t care about boys and the one time she did chase after someone, it was an introverted girl whom she wanted to be friends with which is pretty gay but whatever Disney. She was pretty freaking powerful, too, even without her powers.
Now for Oliver and Kaz, they were geeks. That’s a recurring fact in the show. It’s also something that is constantly saving all of their butts and was the main thing that got them their jobs. They weren’t picked on or made fun of for it, that was just who they were.
And unlike Lab Rats, Mighty Med showed a healthy relationship between brothers. Additionally, Gus was a really weird kid, but no one ever made fun of him, either. They treated him like they treated everyone else. He even ends up as one of the popular kids a few times.
Elite Force really just threw that all away in favor of (what became) a bunch of bratty kids in a pent house together.
Backstory
Mighty Med ended off on a cliffhanger, with Mr. Terror escaping, Oliver and Kaz obtaining superpowers, Alan meeting his father for the first time, and Horace using his last revival. Not to mention, Mr. Terror is Oliver’s mother and was supposed to be Horace’s wife.
And then they completely forgot about all of that and destroyed Mighty Med, killing all of the people in it in the process while also forgetting about Mr. Terror completely?
As for Lab Rats’ ending, it was actually pretty fitting and satisfying, all things considered. Adam, Bree, Leo, and Chase split up after defeating Giselle, Adam and Leo going back to the island to help the students with the big change (an update that let them control their abilities, hence no need for them to be teachers anymore) while Bree and Chase joined the Elite Force.
But why Chase and Bree? Sure, I guess the fandom Chase, but we did care about Leo more than Bree if we’re looking at it from that stand point. Now if we’re looking at it from a logical, in-universe stand-point, it makes no sense. Bree and Chase were the smarter, more experienced of the four, so they should have gone back to the island, while letting Chase and Adam join the Elite force.
Also, Leo has just become a mentor, which was what he was striving for since the start of the season. He was always being overlooked, and now, when he finally gets his moment in the spot light, its taken away from. That just really bothers me.
What Was Good About Lab Rats: Elite Force?
Quite honestly, not a lot. But considering the target audience, it was pretty good. Having two well received shows come together into an, albeit poorly set up and attempted, spin-off where they can have their own battles and story lines together is pretty cool and different. There are some flaws, like how Mighty Med logic and Lab Rats logic really don’t intertwine, but you have to keep in mind that this is a kids show.
It also showed Douglas being a pretty good father, which is really nice. Sure, he’s their birth father and/or creator, but it also shows them mending their relationship.
There were some smaller things, too. AJ’s introduction, Skylar and Bree slowly become sisters, and Chase and Kaz becoming friends were all really fun to watch. (The characters growing relationships with each other, period, were fun to watch.) The villains had good motives, and the small cameos from other shows (Bob and Crossbow [she’s more of a piece of what Mighty Med used to be, but I’m counting it]) were really fun to see. The plot could definitely be better, but it was still pretty good. And, as much as I hate to admit it, the show was genuinely funny. The amount of times I’ve spit out my water while watching this show is surprising.
Conclusion
Was Lab Rats: Elite Force as great a show as the source material? No. Was it all we thought it would be at the time? That depends on how old you were when it came out. It was, and still is, a fun show to watch, though. Yes, it would have been better if it never happened and the shows continued separately, but I’m glad that we at least have an answer to what Mighty Med and Lab Rats alluded to in their finales. Am I upset about Elite Force’s finale? Yes, and I will probably die mad about it, but we didn’t have as much time to get to know the characters and connect to them, so is it really that much of a loss? That’s up to you. Is it a fun show to watch? Absolutely.

favorite headcanons (and theorys?) of glee that i created
i was thinking if i really was going to write this, but im bored so lets go, this got so long and i am so sorry (not really it was fun and i liked it, if you like big metas you probably gonna like this)
*this can have some triggers for some people because i will be talking about bullying, abandonment, depression and violence*
(also i would like to say that most of this are things that i like to believe happened, and idk if the rest of the fandom agrees or if someone said it before and this is all blaine related, i left it glee on the title because it sounded better idk)
- blaine's dad is filipino and he left after blaine came out
i know that blaine said he was there in shooting stars, but hear me out
first of all, to me his name is tod anderson, dont ask me why it just makes sense and i like how it sounds.... so
in sexy, blaine tells burt that his dad tried many times bonding with him, but apparently that didnt work, because he also says "you think my dad built a car with me because he loves cars? i think he did it because he thought getting my hands dirty might make me straight." and after 4x18, he is never mentioned again? and he wasnt on his son's wedding too
so my theory here is that he never accepted that blaine is gay, and all of his "efforts of bonding" were actually because he thought he could "fix" blaine, and when that didnt worked he left, (that also explains blaine's abandonment issues) but he did came back im the shooting episode because he felt guilty for what he did, but after he saw it was a false alarme he went back on pretending he didnt have a gay son
to be really honest sometimes i pretend that his dad wasnt on the shooting day because i feel that it doesnt fit that well into this and i really like this one because its kinda obvious to me that blaine have daddy issues??? so usually i just put on my character-backstory that blaines dad left after he came out and never came back
for the first year that he was gone, blaine spended every night trying to contact him. sometimes he just texted, but most of the times he called and left a message crying begging him to come back and tell him what he'd done that made his father hate him so much, his dad never called or texted back
- blaine's parents
(im not sure if this is canon but blaine's mom is named pam)
i know that technically i've already talked about blaine's family when i was talking about his dad but that is so complex i felt i had to do a topic exclusive for that
i believe blaine has and always had a good relationship with his mother, yes she was usually gone because she works selling a really famous cosmetic line she created (to me the andersons are a really known name) that would explain how blaine could study in a school like dalton (he said so himself that dalton isnt a school that anyone could afford), and why she is never there
but despite her being busy with her job, she always tried to keep im touch with blaine, texting him, and calling and skyping
blaine always missed her, but he tried to not make her feel guilty about working too much, because she loves her job
sometimes he got really depressed, because he wished she could be there to see him sing with his friends, or just be there so that he could hang out with his mom like all of his friends did with their parents
his das was a businessman, i dont know why it just fits to me, also idk what kind of business because i dont understand any of it so thats up to imagination
before he came out, he and his dad were super close, sure his dad a lot of the time was busy but he was at home more than his mom, his dad was the one that introduced him to liking sports, and they always watched games together (cooper would join in too) and his dad always let him have a sip of his beer, blaine always loved those moments and his dad was like a hero to him, he was sure that coming out to him would be easy, because he would love him no matter what
all of the andersons have always been brodway babys, all 4 of them liked to sing, tod was a little bit more serious and didnt dance around the house like cooper, blaine and pam but he enjoyed seeing them having fun
the andersons were like the perfect family of the neirbourhood, all 4 of them are very good looking, talented and educated so yes everybody thought they were perfect
they all lived in the philippines until blaine was 5, and then moved to ohio because tod got a really good job offer there
after blaine came out, his parents argued A LOT. tod would ask himself and pam of what he had done wrong and pam would say its nobodys fault and thats just how blaine is
(to me that was the time tod was revealed to be an asshole and not long after he divorced pam and stoped talking to all of them, except for cooper, he and cooper still talked)
- blaine's bullying
the bullying blaine went through was a lot like kurt's, people laughing at him, shoving him around, beating him up, etc
he tried putting a brave face through it but he started losing all of his light, even more when all of his complains didnt matter at all
it only got sort of better when he met skylar (thats the kid he went to sadie hawkings with, i read in a fic that was his name and stuck with me so im calling him skylar)
skylar was going through the same thing he was, and one time blaine saw him getting shoved at lockers, and helped him pick up his books and thats were they started talking
maybe they liked each other, they never got to find out because after the bash, skylar never spoke to blaine again
blaine was in a 2 week coma after getting beat up, and the first thing he said when he woke up was "where's my dad" and his mom had to gently tell him his das was not there. that was when blaine realized he actually meant nothing to his dad and that broken him even more
he was bashed about 3 months after his father left him, and for the rest of that school year he was homeschooled by a teacher his mother hired
- blaine joining dalton and the warblers
so, since blaine is a year younger than kurt, in my head goes sorta of like this
he came out when he was 13, that was the time he was bullied, beaten up abandoned and homeschooled, and he joined dalton when he was 14, but to be a warbler he had to be a little older than that, so he had to audition to join (im guessing you dont have to audition to be a warbler, just to have a lead, i mean kurt didnt auditioned, right?) and and trent auditioned together, they became friends and were roomates (dalton is a boarding school DONT @ ME EVERYBODY KNOWS ITS TRUE)
it took blaine a while to take the step to audition, because he was still scared, but wes and david helped him and gave him a little seed of the confidence he pretends to have later on, but when he sang for the warblers for the first time they were all blowed away by how good was his singing voice even if he was only 14
after he felt comfortable in the warblers, he became friends with nick and jeff, and they were a trio of dumbassess, wes and david (usually the most mature of all the warblers) sighed everytime they saw nick, jeff and blaine doing something stupid
trent joined in sometimes but he always had been a really chill dude, and he saw blaine as a older brother (even tho blaine is younger than him)
jeff, nick and blaine pulled pranks on wes and david like hiding stuff from them and act all inocent when they asked if they saw said thing
the warblers had a bet going on how long would it take for kurt and blaine to start dating (and yes all of them shipped klaine, and even after kurt and blaine went to mckinley the warblers still kept hearing about them and seeing them on jacob ben israel's blog)
jeff, nick, trent, wes and david were the only real friends blaine had there
wes and david has already gratuated when the slushie happened, and nick, jeff and trent all apologized to blaine after that (even though they had no idea that was gonna happen) but their friendship was never the same
- blaine and cooper's relationship
as we know, blaine and cooper didnt got very along when blaine was growing up, cooper is 9 years older than blaine, and has always been really hard on him and thaat made blaine really dislike cooper, even tho he really wanted for them to be friends, he always has bitter feelings towards him duo to all of the pressure and expectation he was under because cooper was the oldest, and blaine felt like he had to be just as good or better than him, so he also had a lot A LOT of jealousy
but that started to change after "big brother", when they talk things out, cooper finally realizes how blaine feels, and starts doing his best to be best brother to blaine
they dont become besties immediatly, blaine helps him with his audition (which makes kurt really proud and happy seeing cooper being all excited talking to blaine, while blaine is trying to pretend like hes cool but actually hes just as excited), and they start to talk more and more after that
after finn dies is when they start getting actually close, after the funeral, he calls cooper but dosent say the reason why, he just says that he loves him and that he misses his big brother, they call and talk to each other a lot more after cooper finds out about finn
when cooper has a son, he and blaine teach the little guy how to dance and they play a lot of happy and fun piano songs to him
- the anderhummel family
blaine and burt are actually really close, they both like sports and beer so they watch games together and bet about whos gonna win, burt sorta of became the dad blaine lost, but in a non weird way, because they both agreed that blaine calling burt "dad" after he married kurt was just... weird
finn and blaine played a lot of videogames together, sam and puck played with them too, but when kurt was helping on dinner or more interested in a magazine or trying to convince carole to let him do a makeover on her, finn and blaine played videogames and maybe sometimes gossip about kurt and rachel (after he became besties with sam he did that same thing but hey playing videogames and talking about your s/o is fun!)
carole took care of blaine when he was in the hospital for the eye surgery, and when he was hangover at kurt's after biota she helped him with all the vomiting and headaches and all of that
pam met carole and burt when blaine got slushied, blaine was already like family to the hudson-hummels at that point, so when burt found out what happened he ran to the hospital, (carole was already working there anyway) and thats where they met, it wasnt ideal and all of them wete stressed and worried but they got along pretty well
pam, burt and carole werent really close since pam was usually out working, but the few times they sat down to talk to each other they really liked. pam thinks burt and carole are a sweet couple, that raised two wondeful boys and burt and carole think that pam is a sweet and funny lady, they all exchanged embarassing stories about kurt and blaine (that made them go "MOM DONT TELL THEM THAT" or "DAS STOP I WAS 7")
pam absolutely adores kurt, he was fascinated when he found out she had a line of cosmetics and spended hours talking to her about skincare routines
blaine can always make carole laugh, she thinks hes a sweetheart and usually keeps burt from bursting into the room when the door of kurts bedroom is closed ("i told them already, leave at least 2 inches open, is that really so hard??" "honey, relax they're just watching a movie" "im going in there" "no you're not leave the boys alone")
burt has walked in a few times on klaine making out on the couch and he always makes a joke about it to not make it awkward
burt was thrillled to know he was gonna be a grandpa, and he spoils tracy anderson to OBLIVION (blaine doesnt argues because he sorta of does the same thing)
even after both breakups, burt and blaine had always kept in touch, maybe it wasnt what it used to be when he and kurt were still mad at each other, but once they go back being friends, blaine is a little more comfortable in hangin out with the hudson-family
- blaine's depression in s6
i think is canon thay blaine had depression and anxiety during the whole show, right? it just got worse in s6 because kurt breaking up with him was sort of what pulled the trigger
it begun when his father neglected him, and it only got worse and worse, he was abandoned by his father and sometimes felt like by his mother and brother too, he had anxiety and it got worse after sadie hawkings, then kurt and him broke up for the first time, and he kept bottling it all up until it all reached the boiling point and it all exploded when kurt broke up with him
(side note, i think that when kurt started pulling away from him in s6, it reminded him of his dad pulling away too, his dad tried to bond with him but i feel that as harder blaine tried to make his dad stay, didnt matter and his dad kept pulling away until he was gone, that makes a parallel to s6 breakup, and why blaine was trying so SO hard to make kurt stay, because he had been there before, and he wasnt good enough for his dad, and he really wanted to be good enough for kurt)
so, after they breakup, blaine stays in a cheap hotel, not getting out of bed and feeling empty inside, his phone buzzed a little with missing calls from his friends but at some point the batery died and he just ignored, he only charged after 2 days because he probably had to let people know he's still alive
he went back to the loft in the afternoon, because he knew kurt wouldn't be there, he was going away and leaving nothing behind when kurt showed up, blaine was kinda of embarassed because he was probably stinking and his hair and clothes were a mess
im not sure if they talked at all after the breakup night, but i kinda feel that blaine might have said to kurt something like "you think i'm broken? when are gonna realize the problem here isnt just me? i should have known, everytime things get serious and scary between us you run, you're so afraid of something and honestly i have no idea of what, please just stay away from me" (i dont knooow he was angry and being all cold to kurt and shit i think that happened and maybe thats what made kurt go to therapy)
he got kicked out of nyada because he didnt left his hotel room for anything other than food, and he felt even more lost after receiving the email saying he was no longer a student there, thats when he decided to go back to lima
in lima, he barely left his room, he didnt ate for days and when he wasnt crying he was sleeping, his friends would call, text and sometimes try to visit him but he never texted back, answered the calls or opened the doors for them, sam was the only one that had some success because he was living in lima too and could go to blaine's house more often, sometimes he got lucky and blaine would open the door for him
at first he tried to do pep talks to help his bestie get better, but nothing helped so at one point he just sat there with blaine and did nothing with him, because at least like that he wouldnt be alone
one day blaine felt a little better and started trying to be okay again, it was never easy but he got a job at breadsticks, and even tho he would much rather be in his bed he kept working because at least like that his mind was busy with something
after he started therapy, he still felt empty inside, the world was still sorta of grey to him and he didnt felt like doing anything, so he had to take meds for that, and kept taking them even after kurt cane back (but as blaine was getting better they slowly became less and less needed)
when blaine started working at dalton, he was already in a much better place that he was when he came back, and throughout s6 he was still battling depression, and wasnt always okay, sometimes he would still want to just be alone and dont talk to anybody or do anything, and if that happened when he was surronded with people he would just be more quiet, that sometimes got rachel and kurt's attention, because they're not used to this "new" blaine and when they asked him if he was doing okay he would just say "yeah, im just tired" sam later on explained to them what that usually meant, it meant that blaine needed some alone time because he was draining himself a lot
- blaine at nyada vs blaine at nyu
soooo i have a good theory about this one, at nyada blaine was constantly surronded by people who would probably kill someone to get at the top, to be the best
and was such a competitive place, that ended up being toxic for blaine. i used to think that he didnt fit there because he always was one of the best in show choir and dalton and he was always *that* guy, but now i think he didnt fit there because actually he dosent like competition that much
okay, sure, playful competiton with your friends its fun, show choir competiton is fun, fighting with tina, mercedes, rachel, santana and unique about solos was fun because it was serious but he was with his friends so okay, whatever
but the competition they had at nyada was just SO MUCH, and lets agree nyada is kinda of a toxic place in general, people made fun of kurts face and clothing there, rachel's "friends" ditched her when she lost the diva off to kurt and started kissing up to him, and (im not sure about this one but like 99%) people laughed when blaine lost to kurt at combat's class
my point is, in nyada, people only like you if you do well in classes, there's a lot of lying and backstabbing going on and c'mon blaine pratically grew up like this with cooper
always not good enough, always behind, always made fun of, never being great at anything, so maybe thats why blaine felt so stressed at nyada, and why he gets so insecure in 5x16, seeing kurt being praised and getting all of that attention might have reminded him of the years he and cooper didnt get along so well
he didnt found himself at nyada, mostly he was there because it was said to be the best school and rachel and kurt were there, so great, right?
but i get the feeling that at nyu things were a little lighter, not easier, but lighter, it didnt had so much toxic people, it wasnt a place where it was kill or be killed, people helped each other when needed and yes there was still competition, obviously but (almost) nobody made fun of people for failing
(i said almost there because im sure there was some douchbags there too, they're everywhere, but i hope you got my point)
- blaine's friendships
i am almost done i am so sorry this is so long i've been here for like 2 hours
i have some small headcanons about blaine's friends, because we did NOT get enough of his friendships (im leaving kurt out of this one because maybe one day ill do a meta/hc/theory about klaine....... maybe)
mike and blaine were besties on s3
they both like to dance and sometimes they+brittany would do a dance number together, sometimes for the glee club to see, sometimes only to themselves because thats fun
mike talked with blaine after the its not right but its okay number to see what happened and if he was okay (actually it was mostly blaine just venting about it "AND THEN HE SAID HE WANTED TO MAKE KURTS VOICE HIS RINGTONE I MEAN WHAT THE FUCK????????")
blaine talked to mike about mike's dad because he knew what mike was going through and they both agreed thay family sucks sometimes
after mike graduated he and blaine kept têxtil each other and sometimes sending gifs or videos of dance moves to each other
santana and blaine were actually really good friends
after the glee club found out about what santana's grandmother had done when she came out, when they were alone blaine told santana about his dad, even tho he was afraid she was gonna tell everyone because he doesnt like talking about it, just so that she would know that shes not alone and its not her fault, santana never once teased or told anyone about this, she always sorta of liked him and thought he was nice but that moment she started seeing him as a friend
while preparing for the new directions vs warblers in 3x11, santana tried helping blaine bring out his inner bad boy, she helped him pick his outfit and they planned together the whole performance
(im stealing this one from a post i rebloged i guess a day ago? i didnt found the blog to tag but this is the post) > santana and blaine are friends on facebook, and follow each other on twitter and instagram, and they always spam on each others profiles because they're comfortable to do that with each other
santana kinda sees blaine as a male version of brittany, so she has this need of protecting him (which is kinda why she was super invested in getting him justice for his eye)
speaking of his eye, when he was at home before surgery, santana went there and told that she was gonna make sebastian confess what he'd put on thr slushie, blaine asked her how she knew where she lived but she cut him off, she also came back there after and told him everything, and she and kurt asked him what he wanted to do about it
brittany and blaine really were sunshine twins
they always liked each other, blaine didnt get her at first, but he got used to it
she always talked to him about cats, and what lord tubbington was up to, she tried inviting him to fondue for 2 but he knew that she would ask some really private questions so he always came up with an excuse
after he almost went back to dalton, she (alongside with tina, sam and marley) tried to make him feel as welcome as possible
when she was dating sam, sometimes the three of them would go to her house after school and cuddle in her bed with lord tubbington while watching a movie
when britt was planning their weddings, she asked blaine to try up some suits (with the excuse that she wasnt sure the one she picked was right), but she asked him that like a day after he kissed kurt at rachels party so she could tell he was kinda sad and asked him why, he told her and she said it was gonna be okay because their love was magical (it was weird but it did made blaine feel good, so...) she was also the only person he told that
blaine and britt always have ideas like "we should totally put glitter in the entire room to celebrate our wedding aniversary!" kurt and santana shut down the idea at the same time
blamtina were like 3 chaotic brothers
sam and blaine would have a dumb idea that would result in absolute chaos (but funny tho) and tina always plays along with them even if she thinks its a bad idea
the three of them are completely harry potter nerds, sam and blaine are hufflepuffs while tina is a ravenclaw, in a halloween party in s4 they went as the golden trio
after graduation, sam and blaine still skyped tina and told her all about ny, and she would tell them all about her collage
sam kept his promise of sending his imitations to tina and blaine sometimes would call her to vent about a fight he and kurt had
blaine read all of the harry potter books to sam
after sam talked blaine into staying at mckinley, sam and tina would always be with blaine, always talking to him, and spending time with him, thats how the 3 of them got so close
marley and blaine were good friends
when marley joined the new directions, blaine was one of the first to make her feel welcome
when blaine almost left for dalton, she tried make him see that she liked him in the nd too, and would randomly start talking to him so that he wouldnt feel alone
she would rant about jake to him sometimes, like how he wanted to have sex but she wasnt ready, and blaine told her she should do it only when she felt comfortable
after she got suspended, he apologized for yelling at her because of the performance, and remembered mr schue that she was recovering from an eating desorder and that he shouldnt be so hard at her
unique and blaine were "frenemies"
they started off not liking each other, since they both wanted it to be the new rachel, even after blaine won, he and unique still were kinda competitive with each other
but eventually they became sort-of-friends, they sang together sometimes when no one else was there, and they liked to pretend to not like each other but yes they did and it was just their thing
sometimes marley would do a sleepover and she would call blaine, unique and tina, while marley was talking about jake or tina was talking about missing mike, blaine would braid unique's wig and she would try to convince him to let her see his hair without gel
when the whole plot of unique and the bathroom happened, when mr schue told everyone he couldnt give up twerking, blaine stood up for unique saying that wasnt fair and mr schue should try harder to help her, he also held her hand (alongside with marley) when she was scared of having to go to the bathroom again
blaine and mercedes talked to each other more than twice :O
lol ok im not sorry for that title
mercedes and blaine LIVED together people, she used to be kurts best friend, and sams girlfriend are you telling me they barely talked to each other? no
in fact, they really like each other's company, blaine is kinda of a goofball and mercedes thinks its funny
he would ask her to talk to sam when blaine wanted something from him, and mercedes did the same with kurt
sam and blaine would do stupid things together (like dance around their house in their underwear) just to make mercedes laugh, they swore to never tell anyone, and they never did
sometimes at 3 am when no one could sleep they would all have a little dance party until they got tired
blaine and mercedes are junky food addicts, they eat healthy and stuff but they love some cake at 5 in the morning
one time when kurt and mercedes were arguing about the tots, blaine sided with mercedes and told her he agreed that tots are delicious

One side, Two lives
Chapter ten
Is he ok?
First Previous Next
Warnings: slight gore, panicked attack, and mention of eating disorder
Where the heck am I?  Virgil thought as he took in his surroundings. He couldn’t see anything except himself, as I he was standing in a pit of nothingness. He tried to to walk around but the blackness seemed to go on forever so he started to panic. Where a I? How do I get out of here? Where are the others?! Are they here two? I have to find them!
Suddenly the anxious side heard a scream from behind him in the darkness. That sounds like Roman! He thought. He turned around and there stood Roman, on his knees and grasping at his stomach which confused the other side. Why is he grabbing at his stomach? Never mind I need to get his attention.
“Roman!” Virgil shouted to the other, but the prince didn’t acknowledge him, he didn’t even seem to hear him. This in no way helped Virgils anxiety.
“Roman! Princy can you hear me!” He shouted again, but just like before the creative side didn’t seem to even know he was there. Out of no where Virgil heard a dark chuckle.
He turned his gaze away from the prince and towards the noise. The shape of a person had materialized from the darkness, glimmering in a golden light and having what seemed to be a cape dragging behind him. The whatever it was approached Roman’s fallen from, laughing the whole time.
“You see? Your nothing but a weakling, and theres no place for anything like that here.” Virgil watched in terror as the person drew a sword and used it to tilt Roman’s head up to look at him. The side had tears running down his face and blood leaking from his mouth. Why is he crying? Why is he bleeding!? Virgil thought.
He looked back down to the prince’s hand and saw that the normally pure white outfit was now stained in blood, the red liquid was still spreading rapidly. Virgils eyes grew wide with horror. The golden being ‘tsk’ at the downed side and kicked him in the stomach making him cough up blood. No! Stop! You’re going to kill him! That’s what Virgil wanted to say, but as soon as he tried to scream black tendrils wrapped around his mouth and kept him quite.
Never the less the anxious side tried to run forward to stop everything but he couldn’t. He looked down and his feet where somehow stuck to the ground. He tried to pull himself free but it became clear that it was no use. He looked back at the scene in front of him and saw the figure start to raise his sword.
“You really are worthless. You’re just a pathetic excuse for a side, a useless nothing, and you’re especially no hero.” As the thing said that, it swung it sword down.
“ROMAN!”
Virgil jolted up from his bed, his hand outstretched like he was trying to reach for something. His forehead was covered in sweat and he was sure that if he looked in a mirror his face would be whiter than a ghost’s. He brought his hand to his chest and he found his heart was beating faster than he thought it ever had. Virgil took a deep sigh and tried to calm down, it didn’t work very well. He looked over at his clock and saw that it was around 3 in the morning.
What the heck was that? Virgil wondered to himself. He couldn’t remember much of his nightmare but he remembered that he was more scared than he had ever been in his life. Just trying to remember what happened made the side start hyperventilating. Ok. I need to calm down or else I might give Thomas a panic attack. Virgil started taking deep breaths and began to calm down as he repeated his 4 ,7, 8 breathing exercise.
Once he was calmed downed he realized that he probably wasn’t going to be able to go to sleep for a while and flopped back onto his bed in frustration. The one night I actually tried to get more sleep. Just great. The side pulled out his phone from under his pillow and grabbed his headphones from his bed side table. This wasn’t the first time he was woken up by nightmares, but this time had definitely been the worst.
He put on his headphones and picked up his phone. He went though a few different playlist before he finally settle on just clicking shuffle on My Chemical Romance. He ended up on Mama and smiled. This song was slightly calmer than most of the groups songs. He went to tumbler and started scrolling though it, humming the lyrics as he looked at post. After about an hour of looking at memes and funny videos Virgil found himself starting to dose off, the residents of the nightmare going to the back of his mind.
When Virgil woke up it was too Patton calling him down for breakfast. He groaned as he got out of bed and change into his usual style. He pulled on his signature jacket as he went out the door even though he knew that it was crazy to wear a jacket on almost any day in Florida. Virgil walked down the long hallway eyeing every corner suspiciously in case Remus decided to just pop up or something. Because of this he wasn’t looking where he was going and ran straight into someone’s back and fell down.
“Virgil? Are you ok” a familiar voice said. The anxious side looked up and saw that it was non other than Roman who he just happened to run into. The memories of his dream flashed in his mind and he looked at Romans stomach glad to see that there was no kind off blood staining on the t-shirt he was wearing. He shook his head a bit to clear the image of the fallen prince in his mind.
“Yah, I’m fine Princy.” Virgil said. Roman extended his hand to Virgil and pulled him up.
“You need to watch where your going, wouldn’t want you falling down the stairs or something.” Roman said with a chuckle.  The smaller side smiled softly at the sound but pretended to cough into his sleeve when Roman looked back at him.
“Kiddos! Come get your breakfast before it gets old!” That had snapped Virgil out of his embarrassed fake coughing fit and the two started heading towards the kitchen. When they entered they found Logan at the table reading a comic book? Roman turned to Virgil and raised an eyebrow in question. The anxious side shrugged and went to go sit down at the table. He took a closer look at the cover and saw that it was a horror comic and that only confused him more.
“What are you reading Lo? I don’t think I’ve ever even seen you pick up a comic book before” Virgil asked. Logan finally looked up from his book and he seemed kinda embarrassed.
“Well um, technically it’s a graphic novel and uh Remus asked me to read it over for him.” Logan said while he adjusted his glasses, and if Virgil wasn’t mistaken, he was ever so slightly blushing. As the gears in his head spun the smaller side started to smirk. It definitely seems like this guy has a crush Remus. Although it may not look it, Virgil didn’t actually hate the duke. They in no way got along, and Virgil didn’t trust the creative side as far as he could though him, but he didn’t necessarily hate the gremlin of a man.
So, with this in mind, the mischievous raccoon in a jacket decided that as long as he was here, he might as well mess with people.
“I didn’t know you and Remus where such good friends.” Roman, who had sat down after getting a plate of food for himself from the kitchen, tried his absolute hardest not to burst out laughing as Logan stuttered and rambled to try and explain himself.
“He simply assisted me in conducting some research the other day and I wanted to return the kind favor.” Once more the prince and emo character shared a look. Virgil decided that was enough teasing for now. You have to spread out the torture to make it effective after all. So instead of continuing to make fun of his friend he decided he should finally grab some breakfast.
“Whatever you say Lo.” The former dark side walked into the kitchen to see Patton serving up a plate that he assumed was for Logan.
Today Patton had made some scrambled eggs, a few links of sausages, and some toast he was currently adding crafters jam to. Patton turned around to face his dark strange son and smiled widely.
“Hey kiddo! I made a plate for you if that’s alright. If theres anything you want to change about it go right ahead!” The fatherly side said in his usual cheerful tone. Unfortunate this kinda made the smaller of the two freak out a bit.
What if I don’t like whats on the plate? I can’t just mess with it Patton already put in the work to make the food and if I put any of it back it will look like I don’t like his cooking which of course into true but what if he thinks that? Luckily his worries were put to rest when he saw his plate had equal proportions of everything just how he liked it. He breathed a sigh of relief and went to go sit back down with the others.
When he got back to table Roman and Logan were arguing about some sort of play but the conversation was now going too fast for Virgil to actually pay attention to it.
“Don’t you dare say Hamilton wasn’t a good musical in my presence!”
“I’m just saying its historically inaccurate! For one thing the Skylar sisters did have an older brother so the part in the musical where Angelica sings about having to bring the family glory is false. Also she was already wed to a man before she met Alexander so she couldn’t marry him if even if she wanted to.” Logan reasoned in his calm yet frustrated ‘everyone-is-being-an-idiot-except-for-me’ tone of voice.
“Of course it isn’t entirely accurate to the real character. In theater you have to add a bit of drama to express the characters feeling in the scene better!” The royal side tried to explain while he waved his arm around in the air, surprisingly not hitting anything or anyone. Luckily before the two could continue Patton walked into the room carrying both his and Logan’s plate.
“Ok kiddos I think thats enough arguing for now, go ahead and eat instead of bickering please.” Patton said in a hopeful voice.  The two sides grumbled a bit to themselves but did start eating . Virgil looked over at Romans plate and saw that he once again had a lot less food on his plate than the rest of them. He had about two mouthfuls of eggs on his plate, one small sausage and half of a jam covered toast.
Doesn’t he need to eat more than the rest off us? I mean he goes adventuring all the time so he probably burns all the calories he gets from the meals Patton makes. Virgil pondered all this while he ate. If he was being honest he didn’t think he had ever seen Roman get seconds unless people insisted on it. Thats kinda concerning, what if he isn’t eating right because off stress? But why would Princy be stressed he’s the living personification of having a dreamy good life. Could something be wrong and we just haven’t noticed it yet?is he ok? Luckily he was broken from his thoughts as someone called his name.
“Virgil? Are you ok? You’ve been so pacing out for a while now, everything alright?” Roman said as he put a comforting hand on the anxious sides shoulder. Virgil gave the royal a small smile and took a deep breath. I’m just overthinking things. Roman’s fine, he would have come to us if he had a problem.
“Yah I’m fine Princy, just got lost in thought that’s all.” The creative side smiled at that and went back to eating his small plate of food.
After everyone was done with breakfast they all went back to their own rooms, Logan still reading the graphic novel as he walked. Once Virgil got to his room he threw himself onto his extremely messy bed and was about to pull up something to watch on YouTube when he heard a knock on his door.
What the, I was just with everyone, if they needed to ask me something wouldn’t they have asked me then? The purple side sighed and got up to open the door, only to find the hallway completely empty?
“Um, ok, anyone there?” Virgil said while he stuck his head out the doorway.
“Yup! I’m right here!” A choice shouted from behind him.
“Ahhh!” The smaller side screeched and accidentally slammed the door shut. There now sitting on his bed kicking his feet, was Remus. He wasn’t wearing his usual outfit for videos but instead a ripped up tank to and some black sweatpants.
“What the hell are you doing here?!” The anxious side said in an accusing tone.
“I was bored and decided that I might as well annoy you for a while.” The taller of the two said with a shrug.
Virgil groaned and destroyed any hope of having a peaceful day from his mind.
“Why in the world did you knock? You haven’t had any real manners since we were kids.” The purple clad side said as he sat down on a beanbag that he had in the corner. The duke shrugged.
“It was part of my grand plan to distract you so that I could scare you even better.” The insane side said with a sharp tooth smile. Before Virgil could make a retort the door burst opened. There stood Princy in a t-shirt and shorts, his hair looking slightly disheveled and with a sword in hand. He for some reason also looked a bit bigger than normal but Virgil discarded the thought as the lighting being weird.
“Virgil! What’s wrong! What do I need to fight!” The red side exclaimed.
“Hey Ro! I just scared emo over here and he screamed like I had ripped out his guts or something.” The duke said as he threw his arm around his brother. Virgil was kinda surprised. Last time he had seen the twins interact Roman was out cold in seconds but now they were talking like they were best friends. Well I guess they are siblings after all. The smallest in the room said.
“Oh, ok then. Virgil do you need any assistance?” Roman asked. The former dark side thought for a minute and figured that he could handle Remus by himself, he had enough experience dealing with his craziness growing up.
“Yah Romano I’ll be fine.” Virgil said with a wave. Roman nodded but not without a sigh at the nick name and walked out.
“Oh but before I go,” the prince turned around and glared and the both of them, “if you two kill each other I will find a way to somehow resurrect you and get you both scolded by Patton.” And with that Roman left with a royal wave. The two remaining sides gave each other a look, Virgil’s one of distrust and Remus’s one of mischief.
“Sooooo,” Remus said as he jumped back onto the bed, “you like my brother huh?”  Virgil’s face turned bright red.
“I-I don’t know what your talking about!” The now highly nervous side shouted.  This only made the duke chortle.
“Chill out, I’m not gonna tell him, it will be a lot more fun that way.” Remus said with a grin. The hoodie wearing side breathed a sigh of relief.
“However you now owe me a favor.” The dark side said. Virgil grumbled to himself but agreed and asked what the favor was. The royal smiled widely.
“You have to help me beat Deceit’s high score in Mario cart.” The anxious side was surprised at first but then smirked.
“Sure, I’m not going to pass up the chance to piss off the snake.” The smaller jumped onto the bed as Remus summoned his switch that was nearly covered in stickers except for the screen.
After a few rounds of Mario cart Virgil still hadn’t won once and he was getting annoyed, especially since Remus wouldn’t stop saying how he was the ultimate champion of this game. In this round they where nearing the finish line and Virgil was in second place while Remus was in first. He had dodged all of the shells Virgil had thrown at him but he still had one more.
There’s no way I’m letting this rat man beat me again. Suddenly Virgil had an idea and a dark smile formed on his face.
“So Remus,” the purple side said as he lined up the shot, “how did your date with Logan go?”
“What?!” Remus was so surprised that Virgil somehow knew about his sorta kinda date with Logan that he fell off the bed. Meanwhile Virgil threw a green shell at him and finished in first.
“Yes!” The smaller side exclaimed.
“How in this wide terribly gruesome world did you find out about that?” Remus said from the floor. Virgil shrugged.
“Logan said that you helped him with some research or something while blushing so I figured you actually took him on a date.” The emo said while he leaned back on his pillow. He looked over at Remus who was now sitting on the bean bag looking slightly startled.
“Well I didn’t technically ask him on a date, I just offered to take him and give him a tour of the imagination.” The duke said while he messed with his white streak of hair. “I haven’t actually told him that I like him.” Virgil was surprised that Remus looked actually embarrassed saying this.
“I never thought I would see the day that you were nervous.” Virgil said honestly. “Don’t worry, I won’t tell Logan if you aren’t ready to tell him.” Remus gave him an incredulous look and started laughing like a mad man which slightly scared the smaller side. He suddenly stoped and got up.
“Thanks emo, I got to go or else De is going to get mad at me.” While the dark side walked to the door he messed up the purple wearing side’s hair until it defied gravity. “Wanna help me beat the record tomorrow since that slippery snake has such a freaking high score that we couldn’t beat it today?” The crazy side asked.
“Sure.” Virgil said, surprising even himself.
“Cool! Se yah tomorrow emo.” Remus said as he slammed the door loudly. The anxious side relaxed on his bed with a sigh. Even when just hanging out with the others being social was exhausting for him. He remembered that Thomas had some sort of event for tomorrow but Virgil doubted that he would need him for anything. As he was starting to drift off to sleep for a nap he had one last thought. Isn’t the wedding tomorrow?
Well I hope everyone if ready for some angst to come. Hope you guys have a good next 24 hours, bye!

LET ME KNOW IF YOU WANT TO BE TAGGED
Tumblr media
I exhale, turning to look at Nikki where he's laying beside me, a sickly pale tone to his skin, his black hair tangled, his hand that is clinging to mine, covered in tracks, the same appearance as his other hand.
I can't help but wonder if I bathed him if he'd wake up. He reeks, and he's rough looking, only adding to my guilt.
Fred gave him a sleeping pill to ease him off of his coke high--he's been freebasing again, just cooking it up in the room's microwave.
I don't know what the hell to do about him.
I wish I did.
Turning over to face him, I brush his bangs out of his eyes, my fingertips lightly dusting over his cheeks, dark circles under his eyes.
They were supposed to play tonight, but said Nikki came down with the flu and added the show to the second round of U.S. tours lined up for early next year.
The Nikki I knew would have never put drugs over his music, his fans, and especially not his relationship.
But, the Nikki I knew also wouldn't have cheated on me…
It's been hard to accept the fact that the Nikki I fell in love with six years ago, isn't around anymore.
1981
I finish getting my church dress back on, grinning at Nikki as he gets his pants laced back up, the both of us glancing at each other in the back of my car.
"What's mommy and daddy gonna say when I send their girl back home all turned out?" He asks me, smugly, and I put my heels back on, scoffing.
"Gee, just come home with me and find out." I shrug.
"I'll pass." He mumbles, pulling his shirt over his head.
"Oh, c'mon, I'm sure they'd love you." I nudge him with my elbow.
"Your mom would piss her granny-panties." He argues, wrinkling his nose a little and I just blink at him.
"Maybe...but I'm pretty sure my dad would like you." I inform him.
"Like hell he does." He says to himself and I just let out a breath.
"So…" I say after a few seconds of silence and he nods a little, awkward tension filling the air around us.
"...Well." He lets out in the same tone.
"Good freaking night." I go to open the car door, irritated that he doesn't offer up to hangout and do stuff other than fool around, slamming the door shut.
"Hey, what's up?" He asks me, getting out next, standing by the driver's door, blocking my way.
"Nothing. I'll see you later." I mumble, nudging him out of my way, opening my door but he's quickly shutting it before I can.
"Viv, what's--"
"--I'm gonna start charging you to sleep with me." I state blatantly and his hazel eyes widen, a shit eating smirk on his lips as he chuckles out, "what?"
"You'd think since we have sex with each other so often it'd at least make us friends, but all you wanna do when we hangout is screw around and then go do whatever with the guys." I tell him. "And, no, this isn't me being a 'typical girl' and developing feelings for you just because we've had sex. It's me being tired of feeling like I'm just being used to get you off."
"I'm being used to get you off so it's a win-win, is it not?"
"You sound like Vince." I snap. "All that's happening is I screw you, you screw me, we leave, and don't talk until we're both horny again."
"Is that not how this works?"
"The least we can do is get food afterwards or something." I suggest.
"...Like a date?"
I gag at the thought.
"Ew, no." I tell him and he looks confused. "Like, um...I don't know. But since I don't hate you enough to not hook up with you, anymore, I think we could at least get to know who we're hooking up with a little better."
"Friends with benefits?" He clarifies.
"No, no, we're not friends." I point out and he let me get in my car.
"I'll see you tomorrow night?" He throws out and I nod. "Wear something pretty--we're going to McDonald's." He smugly smiles and I roll my eyes, holding back a laugh.
I'm shaking the memory away when there's a knock at the door and I slowly get out of bed, trying not to wake Nikki, slipping my hand from his as my feet hit the hotel carpet.
I open the door, seeing Mick.
"They wanted us to go ahead and start getting our stuff together to leave." He informs me. "Apparently Guns has some solo shows at some clubs nearby so they're staying behind and we'll back up with them tomorrow night." He informs me and I nod, smiling softly, before he lets out a small breath. "I know you're hurt, and you've got every right to be, but would it not make more sense to file for divorce before you move on, as opposed to moving on before you even really know if you're gonna leave or not?" He asks next, under his breath so Nikki has no way of hearing it.
"Ask your married girlfriend that before you come at me with it, Mick, alright?" I ask him neutrally, shutting the door in his face before stepping back to the bed, hesitant to wake Nikki up but doing it anyway so we won't be late.
I wasn't shocked when Mick let on that he knew about Duff and I because, like with me and Nikki, he just knew when something was up.
Looking back, Mick had a point, but at that time he was the last person I wanted to hear it from, because Emi wasn't estranged from her husband, or even on bad terms with him. She was just cheating for whatever reason while her husband stayed in the blissful dark. Mick was "the other woman" therefore he had no place to speak to me about my relationship with Duff.
"Nikki, get up, we gotta get packed." I gently shake him and he groans out.
"Baby, let me sleep." He mumbles, eyes squeezed closed, face scrunching slightly for a second.
"We gotta be in L.A. in seven hours, c'mon." I nudge at him again, and his red eyes open, disgruntled, taking a moment before sitting up.
"I did it again last night?" He asks me, rubbing the crust from his eyes as I slip my slippers on.
"Yep."
"Are they pissed?"
"They're worried." I inform him. "I'm worried, too." I add, stepping to the door.
"I'm fine." He says after me.
"Glad to hear it." I open the door, taking a moment to add, "and I'm not 'baby' to you anymore," before leaving.
I get to my room and get my things packed, being interrupted by a knock at the door.
When I get it open, Duff is on the other side, wearing nothing but his underwear.
"I think I left my necklace in here." He tells me and I step aside, watching him grab it from the bedside table before he turns to me and says, "so, you guys are leaving tonight?" He asks me.
"Yeah." I nod. "Gotta go watch Vince walk down the aisle."
He chuckles and I do, too, realizing how ironic the reality of it is.
"...Is, um...Nikki okay?" He cautiously questions.
"Yeah." I nod. "I'm sorry I didn't go back to your room last night, I just thought it'd be best if he eased off before I went to bed and then I accidentally fell asleep before I could leave so…"
"No, no, Viv, it's fine. You still care about him, even though he's shitty sometimes he's still the guy you've been with for the past six years. I'm not upset that you're making sure he's okay." He nods reassuringly.
Before I can say "okay", there's another knock at my door, and I step to it and open it, Tommy and Vince waiting for me.
"Ya ready?" Tommy asks, him and Vince both wearing sunglasses.
"Yeah." I reply, going to zip my suitcase, Tommy following in after me to grab it, taking a double take when he notices Duff.
"Hey, man."
"Hey." Duff replies, rubbing the back of his neck, before looking to Vince. "Vinnie, you ready to walk down that aisle?" He asks him with a smile.
"Yeah, just so Sharise will stop bitching about wedding details." He responds with a groan in his tone and Duff chuckles. "But her and Skylar are coming back with me for a honeymoon so just be on your best behavior--not that you aren't most times." He adds.
"Nah, I'll give Slash and Stevie the heads up, though." He assures him.
"Thanks, dude." Vince says back.
"Alright, see you when we get back." Tommy says, patting at Duff's shoulder.
"See ya." Duff says to them as they head out.
"I gotta pee and I'll be down." I lie.
Vince looks at me, oddly, with a small bit of hesitance before he shuts the door and I rub my lips and look at Duff, fumbling with my fingers.
"You're not breaking up with me already, are you?" He repeats what I asked him before and I smile and shake my head.
"No, no." I grab his hand and tug him closer to me and he kisses my hair, wrapping his arms around me, tightly, and I rest my cheek against his skin.
"Just have a safe flight, try not to kill anyone." He tells me and I nod.
"I love you." I tell him, looking up at him.
"I love you, too." He leans down and kisses me, pulling away too soon. "I'll see you tomorrow night."
"See you tomorrow night." I agree, taking a mental picture of his soft grin.
The next day was spent scrambling to keep everyone together--especially Nikki--because Sharise deserved one day to be with Vince without a fight...little did I know the only fight that would occur would be between Vince and I, and not him and Nikki, like I feared.
"Okay," I straighten her veil, examining her dress one last time as she hands me my bouquet, "you look beautiful, Sharise." I assure her and she continues nitpicking possible flaws in the mirror.
"I know we're already married so this is just a vow renewal or whatever but I'm nervous." She admits to me, fanning at herself a little.
"There's no reason to be." I tell her.
"Where's Sky?"
"With your parents."
"Where's Tansy?"
"Getting her dress on."
"Where's Nikki?"
"In the bathroom."
"In the bathroom or shooting up?"
"In the bathroom. Tommy's on smack watch."
"Okay." She lets out a breath, trying to calm down. "Vince...is he--"
"He's ready to walk when you are." As I say this, the door opens and Nikki and Tansy come in.
"Sharise, the wedding party's waiting for you." Tansy tells her a little shakily.
I think she's beginning to withdrawal.
"Alright. Okay." Sharise inhales and exhales.
"You got this." I promise her.
"You're right." She nods and I help her with her dress as she heads to the door.
Nikki, Tommy, Mick, and a couple other guys I've never met that are good friends of Sharise and Vince are wearing their tuxes with a hot pink sash, to match the bridesmaids knee length, hot pink dresses with black tull underlying the skirt.
We file into line, Nikki and getting in front of Sharise since she's appointed me with Matron of honor.
"You showered." I mumble to Nikki, impressed.
"Tommy threatened to spray me off with a water hose. I didn't feel like being cold." He mumbles and I scoff as the music starts, the doors opening to lead outside, where we have to walk down stone stairs to meet in a spacious courtyard.
"I'm getting war flashbacks." He says next once it's our turn to start walking.
"From our wedding, yeah, me freaking too." I reply in a hiss.
"I was gonna say from Tommy's wedding but sure." He scoffs bitterly.
"Just don't leave this one every fifteen minutes to slip into the bathroom and shoot up." I ignore his comment, the arm that my hand is looped through tenses up and I can feel him glaring at me through his sunglasses.
"Don't be a fucking bitch." He tells me as we step down the stairs and approach the guests, seeing Vince and the other groomsmen and bridesmaids waiting for us.
"Little late for that." I point out.
"And our wedding wasn't even that bad, Viv." He randomly cuts back to our initial back and forth and I fake a smile for the crowd, speaking through my teeth to reply, "Wish I could say the same for the months to follow it."
We separate at the alter, and I push my feelings aside when I look to see Sharise stepping down the stairs, looking stunning as ever.
When she gets down here, I'm straightening the back of her dress as she takes Vince's hands.
The ceremony doesn't take very long, and once the reception comes and all the pictures are done with being taken, I'm ready to get out of this dress--but it's not ready for me to get out of it.
I grind my teeth, dreading asking this bastard for help, but I know he's got his knife and the zipper of my dress is stuck.
"Nikki," I tap at his shoulder as he downs another glass of wine.
"What?" He wipes his mouth with the back of his hand.
"Can you help me get out of this dress?" I ask him and he suddenly bursts into laughter.
"I'd rather fuck a pot of boiling hot oil than fuck you." He tells me.
"No, asshole, I mean literally help me get this off because the zipper is stuck." I explain.
"Oh." He says, turning me to look at it. "Yeah, I guess." He stands up and I head to the bathroom as he pulls his pocket knife from his pocket.
Once we get to the bathroom, I'm pulling my arms from the sleeves the best I can before I look at him.
"Just go to sawing away here." I point to the seam that's three-fourths zipped.
He starts cutting at it, and it soon gets looser and looser to the point there should be plenty of room to finish pushing it down my hips...and I would if his hands weren't steadily holding at my bare sides, his eyes on my back as I look at him in the mirror and wait for him to snap back into reality.
He never does, and I'm forced to clear my throat to whisk the tension away.
"Um, I got it from here." I tell him, hinting that his hands on my skin aren't needed.
He just looks at me in the mirror and holds at them tighter, making me go to hit at the tops of his hands, only I realize this is one of the few moments he probably finds peace in because he can pretend, even for a second, that everything isn't screwed sideways.
I just rest my palms over his hands, making eye contact with him in the mirror, looking us over, and I smile sadly, realizing we won't ever be those people again.
After his moment is finished, he's gently patting my sides before taking a step back and putting his knife back into his pocket.
"Thanks, again." I say to him before he goes. "No problem." He mumbles, stepping out.
I rush back to the bridal suite to avoid being seen half naked, to change into a more comfortable dress.
As soon as I shut the door, I turn around and see Vince nursing a beer, and I jump.
"Jesus, Vince!" I snap at him, taking a deep breath and he rolls his eyes for a second. "What the hell are you doing here?" I ask him, peeling the dress down my legs, not caring that he's getting an eyeful of me in nothing but skimpy panties since he's seen me completely naked in the pictures of me that Nikki's shown off to him.
"Hiding from my in laws." He replies, taking another sip of beer.
"You're not supposed to be drinking." I remind him.
"Who's gonna tell them?" He asks me, raising his brows.
"Doesn't matter if the state doesn't know--God knows. That's who you'll have to answer to in the end."
"Oh-Oh, my fuck." He chuckles out, his tongue swiping the inside of his bottom lip.
"What? You think standing before God and being confronted with the fact you're still drinking after killing your friend in a drunk driving accident is funny?" I hiss at him.
"I think the bible warns against becoming a drunkard but doesn't it also say, "you must not commit adultery'?"
My heart pounds in my chest, my eyes wide, and he stands up from his spot on the fluffy parlor chair.
"So you can give me shit about killing Razzle and still drinking, but every time the sweat on Duff's back dries after he's done fucking you, it's just another nail being hammered into Nikki's coffin, once he finds out." He says, pointing at me with the hand holding at his bottle. "And that blood's gonna be on your hands." He adds. "Not mine."

Bad Boy’s comeback.// Fanfic Skylar Quinn.
Tumblr media
Another boring business class, why do we need to know this? How will this help me with my future designer projects? Egh …I’m so glad is the last year.
I stared at my laptop, trying to focus on the class, but I found it boring as hell. I looked around; everyone else looked no less bored than me.
I checked some of my old emails- might as well clean my mailbox I’m sure it would be less boring than this class. I stopped seeing an email that I sent to Mrs Price a few weeks ago. I looked at the attached photo of Skylar Quinn; I didn’t forget him… who would? This unbelievably hot bad boy who I met on Lovelink just a few weeks ago.
Heir of the Europen candy manufacturing business, passionate about robotics, in that kind of nerdy way, what I've learned later on.He wanted to quit his Business studies that were only needed for the family business that he inherited, but he didn’t enjoy it, well, he hated it. I decided to help him with the first step and sent his projects to his teacher Mrs Price.
Just a couple of days in our chatting he tried to steal a car from Mrs Price to visit me, it was the craziest idea ever. I knew then that this guy means trouble, but instead of cutting him off, I was more intrigued by him, I wanted to get to know him better. I could say that this guy definitely deserves an official nickname Adrenaline Junkie.
A few days later, Skylar invited me to -what I thought at the time –his house, for a date. This was our first time seeing each other in the flesh. I still remember the moment I saw him in for the first time in his red tight swimsuit showing all the right things the way it should.  Even now, the thought of those abs and muscled arms give me hots. We spend some excellent time, but just before we got to the best part of the date, the house's real owner showed up.
Only then Skylar told me this was the Chief police officer's house and not as stupid me thought –his. We ran for our lives, I hid in the bushes, but Skylar left me there- alone. I was furious, that’s not how you treat your date!
After a few clumsy attempts to apologise, I forgave him this small fuck up and demanded a proper date. Unfortunately, before we managed to have one, his school lab caught on fire, and he was accused of being behind it, because of his previous clashes with police.
He decided to escape, but he promised me he would come back for me. This was the last time I heard from him; I had no idea what happened to him. Did he got caught? Did his grandparents help him disappear?
Damn you, Skylar Quinn! Why do I always fall for bad boys? What they have in them that is so damn hot? Why couldn’t I fall for some sweet nerd who would bring me chocolates and flowers and take me to the cinema and snuggle under the blanket, and shit? Instead, I was head over hills for a guy who steals cars and runs from the police, breaks into the Chief officer’s house to impress a girl on their first date, and then just runs off and then gets in trouble for something he actually didn’t do this time.
He didn’t reach out to me for over a month since he left and it was concerning. I thought for a second that maybe he forgot about me already, we saw each other twice, we weren’t a couple, we weren’t even dating. He probably ran away somewhere and just forgot about his promise; I guess he is that type—a heartbreaker.
I’ve been thinking about him from time to time; I wasn’t able to use Lovelink again. After all that I give up, for now, I didn’t need more troubles in my head, or maybe it was hope that pushed me away from meeting anyone else? Hope that he will text eventually? Come on, woman! You are not fifteen, and this is not a movie. He simply ghosted you!
I got snapped from my thoughts by people getting ready to leave the class. Thank God, this is over.
After class as always, I went to the gym to let out some steam, came back to my empty apartment sat my single ass on the couch with the box of chow main nuddles and beer scrolling through Netflix looking for something to watch. Bridgerton, for the third time … because why not.
Few minutes into the series, I saw my phone flashing from the coffee table, I reached to see who could want my attention on Tuesday afternoon. It was a message from an unknown number, a photo of me in the class looking out the window- today! I started to panic; someone is watching me! Started to type ‘’Who are you…’’ when another message popped. ‘’ You look like you can use some fun J… I missed you. S.’’
S? Skylar!? Holy shit!  I instantly replied ‘’ Skylar? Is that you?’’ I saw three dots jumping on the screen; I was getting impatient. ‘’Maybe…come to the roof and find out for yourself ;)’’ Roof!?
I was puzzled, but as always before using the useful part of my brain used for logical thinking, I  turned off the TV, put my shoes on and walked out the door right to the elevator. I lived in one of the tallest apartment blocks in town and never been on the roof.
I pressed the level 25 and looked in the mirror, fixing my messy hair. What if this is not Skylar? What if is some kind of serial killer? Fuck it; my life is dull anyway. At least they will talk about me in the news; I will be dead but famous.
The elevator’s door opened, suddenly I felt stressed, scared but walked out towards the last few stairs, leading to the roof. I opened the door, and the warm summer breeze hit my face. I could see the whole town from there, the sun was going down on the horizon behind me, the view was mesmerising, but that wasn’t the reason I was there. I walked forward and looked around, but I didn’t see anyone…great … this must’ve been some stupid joke.
I turned around to go back to the elevator and go back home, already properly annoyed, cursing whoever decided to make that stupid joke and myself for falling for it.
Then I saw him leaning on the door with his arms crossed, and his signature cocky smirk on his face. His black hair messy from the breeze, his blue eyes sparkling in the sunset, tight burgundy shirt exposing his muscular arms, God he looked like a masterpiece.
Without saying anything or leaving my gaze, Skylar approached me slowly, grabbed my hand and kissed my knuckles ‘Hi, gorgeous.’ he smiled, with ‘this’ look in his eyes that give me butterflies when I first saw him. Did I missed him? Hell yes, I did!
‘What are you doing here ?’ I asked, pointing with my other hand at the roof, my other hand still firmly in his.
‘I promised I would come back for you, remember? So here I am.’ He smiled, squeezing my hand ‘It’s silly, but … I missed you.’ He said and looked away shyly like he was scared to see my reaction. Skylar Quinn, shy? Unbelievable.
‘It’s not … I missed you too.’ I said, he looked at me again ‘I’m delighted to see you; also, I was worried. What happened to you after?’ I asked, he took a small step closer and looked me in the eyes.
‘I will tell you everything, in just a moment, but first …’ he said touching my cheek with his fingers which gently slipped behind my neck and pulled me closer for our lips to meet, he kissed me gently but urgently, I returned the kiss burring my fingers in his soft black hair. His lips were soft and gentle; I felt the butterflies dancing in my stomach and warmth reaching my body. Skylar traced his fingers down my back with the other hand, still firmly holding the back of my neck, rubbing my cheek with his thumb. I felt the heat building between us. After a few precious minutes; we pulled away, Skylar grabbed my hand and pulled me to the other side roof. I saw a blanket and some cushions neatly laid on the ground with lanterns on each side, a bottle of wine and some snacks waiting for us.
‘Oh wow, Skylar Quinn… what happened to you?’ I giggled.
‘I owe you a date, and that’s all I could think of that doesn’t involve breaking the law.’ He laughed.
‘Impressive, I am shocked.’ I smiled, sitting on the blanket next to him. He reached for two glasses and a bottle of wine and then I touched the cushions and realised ‘What the hell!? Are those my cushions!?... and blanket?’ I raised my eyebrow. ‘Did you break into my house, Skylar?’  he started to laugh, for some reason I wasn’t surprised, he’s laugh was so adorable and hot. I couldn’t be angry at him; after all, he was here, he kept his promise. I will have plenty of time to be mad at him to break into my apartment.
‘I did borrow a couple of items from you, indeed.’ He said, not feeling sorry what so ever, and passed me the glass.
‘Well, so tell me… what happened after you left the library?’ I asked sipping the wine.
‘Police caught me; there was no way I could escape. I’ve spent the last month in jail…’ he said looking down.
‘Oh my God, Skylar! That’s horrible … why they kept you so long?.’
‘Chill, all is good now. They found the guy who did it, and they let me out. It wasn’t that bad; I was lucky to have a cool cellmate for most of the time there, Damien made this whole experience a lot easier. I hope to meet him again once he is out, rough around the ages but a cool guy, good friend material. He helped me realise a few things, and I am grateful. ’ Skylar said with a warm smile.
‘I’m glad everything is good now, I was worried that you escaped and ghosted me, we weren’t really dating or anything, so I thought you forgot about me and just moved on.’ I said, looking at my wine glass.
‘I actually want to tell you something, but please don’t laugh, ok?... Promise you won’t laugh.’ He looked at me, with his piercing blue eyes sending shivers down my spine, I nodded. ‘I’ve been thinking about you every day. You showed me a different view on life. Thanks to you, I understood that it is important to pump the breaks from time to time for the right person. And I am ready to do that, for you… I’m willing to slow down a bit. After our date, I realised I put you in danger, and that wasn’t cool, I care about you, you know?’ Skylar brushed his hand down my arm, his eyes not leaving mine.
‘I had no idea you felt that way, Skylar… Well, it’s not like we had much time to develop anything yet, but in that short time I think I started to like you.’ I said smiling, somehow deep inside I was glad he was willing to change. ‘I'm really glad  I met you, even though you fucked up from the start by leaving me nearly naked in the bushes in the broken in the house.’ I gave him a slightly angry look, but still smiling.
‘Damn it! You will never forgive me this small fuck up, huh? He said, rubbing the back of his neck; I could see in his eyes that he was sincerely sorry.
‘I’m only teasing you silly.’ I laughed and gently pushed his shoulder.’ I hated you for a split of a second, but I had fun after all.’ I smiled; I could see the relief on his face but looked nervous playing with strings of the cushion, there was something on his mind, and I couldn’t put my finger on it ‘Something wrong?’ I asked, tipping my head down to him, to meet his eyes.
‘No, everything is perfect. I am just trying to think how to… hell … I’m not good at these things.’ He said
‘Just spill it.’ I said, holding his hand, Skylar shifted a bit closed.
‘So, I know we aren’t dating or anything, but I like you, and I would like to see where this thing between us go. So my question is, would YOU like to continue where we left off and see where this goes?.’ He asked a little bit shy, looking so precious and adorable, like a completely different Skylar. ‘Listen, if you are already dating someone, that’s fine … just tell me.’ He said, getting more nervous.
‘I am not, actually since you left I didn’t open Lovelink once. I kind of hoped that you would come back, and to answer your question… yes I would like to pick it up from when we left it.’ I smiled ‘How about we come back to the moment in the pool, before the whole running away happened?’ He shot me a cocky smirk.
Skylar took an empty glass from my hand and put it aside, and sifted closer to me, grabbing the back of my neck and gently pulled towards him.
‘So... where were we?’ He asked with a hungry voice; I could feel his breath on my lips. I wrapped my arms around his neck, burring my lips in his. He kissed me gently at first but with each touch deepened. Skylar lied me gently on the cushions, exploring my body with his hands. His touch was caring and loving, but at the same time hungry and passionate, he slipped his hands under my shirt, teasing my bare skin with his fingers, my hands tracing trough his hard abs under his shirt, unable to wait any longer we pulled from the kiss and quickly tossed our tops aside for our bodies to touch.
We kissed and touched each other all over, completely lost in time. He stopped for a second and looked at me with his piercing blue eyes and smiled.
‘You are beautiful; you know that?... Thank you.’ He brushed my cheek with his thumb.
‘For what?’ I asked, trying to catch my breath.
‘For waiting, you are special, and I don’t want fuck this up … I am glad I swiped right.’ He said, sliding his hand under my leggings, I tilted my head and moaned with pleasure when he reached my most tender spot, he kissed and sucked my neck while teasing me with his hand pushing me to the edge, the view of his perfect muscles from that angle only fueled my desire. I wanted him, all of him, I moved my hand from his chest to his jeans undoing the button and the zip reaching for his excitement already waiting for me ‘Oh Fuck!.’ He moaned into my ear when I started to move my hand on him.
The sun completely disappeared from the horizon; the city's lights and stars surrounded us, warm summer breeze danced between our now naked, sweaty bodies. Skylar knew exactly where to touch me where to kiss me driving me crazy; we didn’t care that someone could see us, this moment was perfect. We could hear the echo of our moans bouncing around us, creating a perfect melody; we could definitely be heard, and that adrenaline made it even more special.
Who would’ve thought that my afternoon would turn from eating nuddles on the sofa alone working myself by the view of the Duke, to making love with the hottest bad boy on this planet on the roof of my apartment block under the stars, feeling like I own the world. You know what Bridgerton? You can go an hide yourself; this is a million times better.
If someone asked me to choose where I want to be, I would choose this moment a hundred times over.
The fact that this sweet guy came back to me, gave me a boost of confidence and made me realise how much I like him, I didn’t know what future will hold for us, but I was ready to find out. Goodbye my dull life, welcome Skylar Quinn.

Do You Wanna Be My Roommate? || Rio & Skye
Timing: December 10th
Location: Nic & Skylar’s Home
Tagging: @3starsquinn & @theskyeandsea
Description: In the wake of Winson’s departure from town, Skylar and Rio reclaim weeb night!
Warnings: Drug use mentions, chronic illness symptoms mentions, addiction
Tugging at the sleeves of her shirt, Skylar looked around the house-- it looked normal, right? The last time someone had been here, she’d been caught off guard and hadn’t had time to try and make the place look presentable. But, she had invited Rio here, wanted to be here to support him. Because that was what a good friend did, and they, they were still friends. She wanted to be there for him because break ups were hard. She might not know much about them, but she remembered how much it had hurt when Shiloh had left town, in much the same way to Winston. Just a quick word and then Skylar was left with the other woman’s absence.
Swallowing, Skylar hooked her hearing aids in and turned them on. Dundee was sitting on the edge of the couch, watching her from his nest of blankets. He used to like spending time in her room, but lately he spent most of his time out in the living room. Maybe he was waiting for Nic to come home? Before she could fall too far down that rabbit hole, the doorbell rang and she hurried to the door. “Rio! Hey--” Her eyes flicked over his appearance and she blinked. “Are… What happened to you?”
Orion and Skylar had made plans, he didn’t want to cancel those just because he had almost been murdered and spent a few days in the hospital. He hadn’t seen her in awhile, his own life being too caught up in the trauma and the drama. As if the Lydia situation hadn’t been horrifying enough, Winston’s departure and the werewolf attack had to add a little extra disaster to Rio’s life. Just in time for the holidays. But despite the solemn mood Rio had been stuck in, he had no plans in continuing that tonight. He was hoping to enjoy his time with Skylar tonight, where the both of them could take their minds off of everything keeping them down.
When Skylar answered the door he could see that she had her hearing aids in, but he signed anyways as he greeted her. It was mostly out of habit, but he enjoyed the practice regardless. “Oh. These” Rio grinned nervously, he supposed he couldn’t ignore the fact that it happened, no matter how much he wished he could pretend he had never seen any of those dead bodies. Or heard their screams. “There was an… incident a few nights ago. A werewolf attacked a cafe that I was at.” Though his hoodie and jeans worked to block the main injuries that he had suffered, bruises and cuts all over his face and hands were still far too visible. Realizing that he was a hunter who just told Skylar about a werewolf attack, Rio thought that he should specify, “I didn’t kill it. Just uh- so we’re clear. I just tried to stop it from hurting others.” He did stab it. But he remembered how scared Skylar had been about hunters. He didn’t want to freak her out, “It’s alive. And hopefully back to human and not hurting anyone.”
Stepping out of the way to let him in, Skylar did her best not to stare at the cuts as he explained. An attack? A werewolf? What had happened to them? Not that Skylar knew many werewolves-- just Ulfric, the man from the coffee shop with all the tattoos, and Ariana, who she’d only known as a student until recently-- but they’d both seemed… in control. The thoughts slid through her mind like water, though, slipping from her mind as she led the way to the living room. Dundee was still curled up in the pile of blankets, little tail wagging as he caught sight of Rio and stared at the young man with his beedy, unblinking eyes. “It? You mean… them, right?” Skylar said, the words coming out before she could stop herself. But, werewolves, they were people. Maybe not human people, just like she wasn’t human people. But they were people, right? “I-- sorry though. That something like that happened to you. I’m glad you didn’t need to hurt anyone badly, though.” She nodded.
Sliding through the front door, Orion was surprised by how long ago it seemed that he had last been here to hang out with Skylar. Despite that, it came with a surprising familiarity to follow her down the hall and into the living room. As per usual, Dundee stared at Rio as if staring directly into his soul. The dog was cute and incredibly uncomforting at the same time. “Hey buddy!” Rio went over to the pet little guy regardless. At Skylar’s words, Rio froze. His hand hovered to his bottom lip, barely pressing against it almost in shock of what had just come out of his mouth. “I-uh” It. When had Rio ever talked like that? He had spent his entire life trying and failing to convince his family that there was humanity to supernatural creatures. Especially werewolves, who weren’t destined to be murderous monsters their entire lives. How had that same person become the one that casually referred to a living person as it? “Sorry. Yeah. Them.” He pulled his hand away, shoving both of them into his pockets and refusing to make eye contact with Skylar for a moment. The word kept repeating itself in his head over and over again. “It’s okay. The werewolf, I don’t know who they were. But they didn’t have control. I don’t know if they woke up remembering everything or completely ignorant. That’s scary stuff.” A chill shot down Rio’s spine and he readjusted his stance a bit too quickly, catching his breath at the sudden pains. He slowly stretched out before forcing a smile back onto his face. “Sorry, I want this to be a fun night. All this’ll be gone in a few days anyways. Let’s just try to have fun.”
Skylar barely noticed the way that Rio went stock still-- it was the way his hand moved that caught her attention. He hadn’t even realized he’d said it, had he? Tilting her head slightly, she did her best to peer at him. But, the trace amounts of Bliss kept her floating, just floating on by, and it was always a little hard to grab the finer details. But, she could tell that he was upset. And she didn’t want him to be upset, she really didn’t. Rio was a good guy, a good person. “I hope they’re okay. And the other people who were hurt too-- and you too! Obviously. But. I hope they’re okay.” She said, knowing all too well how much it hurt to have gaps in your memory, to have entire parts of yourself locked away. Noticing the way his chest caught, Skylar blinked. “You’re not still hurt are you? You didn’t need to-- we could have cancelled if you’re still hurt. Sit down, sit down.” She said, urging him to take a seat. She could still take care of people, she could still do this. She could be the Skylar everyone wanted her to be.
Orion nodded his head, maybe a bit too enthusiastically. He didn’t need Skylar too worried about his wounds. She had already helped him before when that evil watermelon thing had bitten him. Just like that time, these would heal. “I’m okay. I’m still sore, but it’s not too bad. I’ll heal quickly anyways.” He still hated his hunter abilities. Not because they weren’t useful, he had been attacked way too many times for him to try to claim that. It just didn’t seem fair that he got this advantage while others around him were put at risk. “Seriously, I wanted to come over here. I’m happy to be here, sore or not.” Rio grinned, slowly easing himself back and onto the couch. “If I had cancelled I would have just ended up lying in my bed at the house all night anyways. I definitely didn’t want to do that. So you’re doing me a favor.”
“If you say so.” Skylar said as Rio took a seat on the couch. Walking to the fridge, she pulled out a bottle of water and a can of Mountain Dew. She’d remembered that he liked them when she had been wandering down the aisles at the store, running her fingers against the shelves. “Want a drink? There might be some beer left over from when Nic was here, if you’d like. I don’t really keep beer here.” She said as she scanned the shelves. “I’ve never really been able to do the whole… post-break up ice cream and cookie dough thing that you see in movies, but I have both if you’d like.” She offered. “But, ah-- sorry. That might be too soon to say.” At Rio’s words, Skylar nodded, a smile spreading on her face. She was helping him. “Of course. I’m glad I can do something to make you feel better. And hey, Yuri on Ice is a great show, it always cheers me up.”
Skylar disappeared in the kitchen for a moment and came back with a mountain dew. Orion sat forward enthusiastically to reach for it, trying to be careful not to stretch too many injured muscles. It was only partially effective. “Oh you’re the best thank you so much.” He had been so tired recently, he needed some caffeine. The mention of Nic was a sudden reminder that he had been her only roommate. He knew about him no longer being in town but he hadn’t exactly connected the dots. “Oh right. You don’t have any other roommates do you? You have this whole place to yourself?” It was a big house, something that could either be a lot of fun or really lonely depending on the person. “It’s been weird at my house too. Ricky’s always so busy at the workshop that it was usually just Winston and I. Now that he’s not there it’s just a whole house to myself with all the things Winston and I used to do.” Rio shrugged. Admittedly, it had bothered him how much time he spent noticing small things that Winston left behind. But there wasn’t much he could do about it for now. “I have no experience with post break up junk food, but am assuming that it tastes similar to regular junk ice cream and cookie dough. Both of which I’m a huge fan of.” But more than sugary distractions, Rio was mostly excited for another reboot of their anime night. Hopefully this time it would be without the snooping or weird tension that was present the previous times. “I cannot wait, I am so pumped for this it’s been on my list forever.”
“Of course.” Skylar beamed as she handed him the soda before settling down on the couch with some space between them. Dundee glanced over at her, as though waiting for her to do something, but when she flipped on the tv, he plopped his head back down on the nest of blankets. “Nope, it’s just me.” This place had been Erin’s home for a bit too, but the memory of their last encounter came back to her mind-- No. Smiling wider, she pushed the thought away. Now wasn’t the time to think about that. Erin wasn’t coming back here. “Mhm, that’s… That sounds hard.” Skylar had never lived with Shiloh, hadn’t even really reached the stage where she spent much time at the other woman’s home. But, she felt for Rio. Being in a place where there was just the constant presence of someone who he’d cared about, who was so very much not here? She dealt with that some since Nic had left, the little knick knacks and knives tucked around the house hammering home the fact that he was gone. “Sounds good. Let me just get Netflix up.” She said, scrolling through the lists with a slightly clumsy hand. She skipped around until the familiar ice-skating anime popped up. “I’m so excited for you to watch this, I think you’ll really enjoy it.”
Orion stretched across the couch as much as he could to scratch on Dundee’s head before returning to his original position. Skylar was navigating the tv to find the show and Rio studied her as she did so. Outwardly, she seemed fine with living alone. Nothing in her initial statement indicated that she hated the idea of living alone. The place did seem pretty sweet, especially considering it had the pool for private sessions when she needed to change. On paper, he probably seemed perfect. But speaking from his own experiences, Rio knew that a place like this would be incredibly lonely. He wondered what Skylar thought of it. Right now, he wasn’t sure if it would be rude to ask. “I’m so excited” Rio clapped his hands together and leaned back on the couch to settle in when Skylar pressed play.
The rest of the night passed without anything weird or out of the ordinary happening-- a rarity that Skylar honestly hadn’t expected. It was nice, to watch anime and pretend like there was nothing wrong. They could pretend like this town wasn’t awful, like this place wasn’t terrible. As Yuri took a victory lap around the ice rink, Skylar let out a sigh, stretching. The motion sent a slight twinge of pain down her back, but she ignored it. She could handle a little pain, just for now. She had wanted to be present for this, to spend time with Rio. And, once he was gone, she would be able to slip back down into the haze of Bliss. “Such a good show. Did you like it?” She asked as Dundee padded across the couch and leaned against her, his head resting against her leg. “I’m glad you were able to come over for this, I missed having anime nights.” Skylar said, a little surprised that it was true.
They had truly binged out with this one. In what was probably their first fully successful attempt at an anime night the two both watched the show in relative quiet. Every now and again one would speak up or they would both laugh at something. But other than that, the two had seemed perfectly content with simply being in each other’s company. The show was exactly the sort of feel good emotion that Orion so desperately needed. Watching their relationship slowly grow into what it became by the end of the show was enough to bring a tear to Rio’s eyes. By the time the last episode finished, there was a stream of tears running down his face. “No. It was awful.” Rio lied, a single laugh bursting through his tears. Even then, Rio crossed his arms and grumbled grumpily, “The show had no right ending like that. I hated it.” A small smile split across his face though, and he eventually conceded, “Nah. I’m kidding. That was amazing and I’m so glad we started it back up. I miss them too.” Even for the drama they had once been. “We should definitely get back into the habit of doing them.”
Looking over at Rio, Skylar blinked in surprise-- she hadn’t realized he’d cried. She must have missed that, must… not have noticed. She swallowed, pushing the thought side and smiled back at him. “Good! I’m glad that you did, it’s such a great show. The characters are all so good and you really kinda root for all of them by the end of it.” She said with a nod. Running a hand through her choppy hair, Skylar looked over at the television, the screen darkened. She could see the two of them reflected, sitting back on the couch. Two lonely people, just a little less alone for the time being. Biting the inside of her cheek, Skylar thought to the spare key that was tucked away in her room. She trusted Rio. It had taken time, but she knew that he was sorry for what he’d done, he’d promised to never pry into her things after their disastrous first anime night. And… it was lonely. “Hey, Rio.” She said tentatively, not really sure how to broach the subject, “I know that things at… Ricky’s must be weird. Things here are weird too, with all of Nic’s stuff being here, but him being gone. And, like I said, I can’t really imagine what it’s like to have to deal with, everything else on top of it.” She said, skirting around the words “break up” as best as she could manage. “But, if you wanted, you could stay here?” Skylar asked, looking hopefully over at him. Maybe having someone around would help. Someone who understood, at least a little, what it was like to not fit into the role that the world wanted her to be.
The question had taken Orion by surprise. He paused for a long moment as he tried to understand exactly what Skylar had meant by ‘stay here’. At first he had just meant for the night, which Rio was ready to thank her for the offer but also assure that he didn’t live too far away. It wasn’t like he had been drinking or anything. But she had mentioned Nic’s things, just as Rio had talked about Winston’s items that were left behind. But he had never said any of those things in an attempt to guilt Skylar into asking him to move in. Even with the awkwardness, Rio hadn’t considered moving out of the house. “Are you… serious?” Rio finally asked, his voice soft and curious. “I don’t want to like… put you in a weird place. Where you feel like you have to offer.”
Was she serious? Skylar wasn’t entirely sure, but, the idea of not being totally alone, of having someone around-- at least part of the day-- was tempting. And she liked Rio. She trusted Rio. He was good and he knew about that side of her, which meant she wouldn’t need to hide it from him. Not that she’d ever needed to with Nic, but, having one less secret from her roommate would be nice. And just, having a roommate, maybe that would make things better. Maybe it would lessen the ache inside her. Nodding, Skylar gestured to the space around them. “I know I don’t need to offer. But, I never really wanted to live on my own. And, I trust you.” She said with a small smile. “In a town like this, that’s… hard to find. You don’t need to say yes, and you can definitely think about it. But, the offer’s here.”
The offer was tempting. The more Orion thought about it, the more he realized how lonely his house felt now. With Ricky constantly working and Winston gone it felt like he lived in an abandoned home. Too big for him. He missed Winston, but he had no chance of taking his mind off of them when he walked past their bedroom door every day and was constantly reminded of all the memories they had there. But Rio wasn’t truly convinced until Skylar told him that she trusted him. It had been a rocky road up to this point. Rio had lied and invaded her privacy. He hadn’t deserved her friendship at all, let alone her trust. But somehow, here they were. “Yes.” Rio nodded quickly. “I mean, I don’t need to think about it. If you’re one hundred percent sure then the answer is yes” Rio laughed in relief, a pressure that had been in his chest all week finally beginning to lift. He hadn’t even realized that it had been there in the first place. “I- Thank you so much. I seriously can’t describe what that means to me.”
The way that Rio laughed, the genuine sound of relief-- before tonight, when was the last time Skylar had heard that sound? Since before Nic had left? The memory came back to her, fuzzy around the edges in the way that most of her memories were now. It was one of the nights when they’d both shared a meal, idly talking about their day and then, out of nowhere, Dundee had hopped up onto the table and stolen a steak right off her plate. The two had sat in startled silence for a minute as the little dog scarfed down the piece of meat, T-bone and all, before bursting into laughter. And tonight, she and Rio had been able to laugh and talk and make this house feel a little less lonesome. It felt a little more like the home that she had hoped for. But, Skylar shifted on the couch, the sharp rush of pain pushing just a little bit harder. “One ground rule, though?” She said, a small smile on her face as she stuck out her hand, “No more poking around in my room.”

Sammi stared down at her hands, tap anxiously on the green table of the booth she sat in. The diner was running slow for a Wednesday, only a handful of people spread out in the restaurant. Sammi kept looking at her watch then to the door, reconsidering even being here. A waitress would come from time to time to see if Sammi needed anything, only getting turned down. Maybe Sammi shouldn't have come so early. The glass doorbell ring made Sammi's ear perk up like a fox, looking straight ahead of her. Except instead of Vince, it was an older man with a small happy child who had a smile on their face. Sammi scuffed to herself, beginning to bite the nail on her thumb. It wasn't until she heard the bell ring again that Sammi saw Vince's face, standing there without knowing what to do. He scratched the back of his head, slowly walking up to the booth. Sammi swallowed away her nerves, hugging her body for comfort. Sliding into the booth, Vince took off his jean jacket and gave a small smile to his ex-girlfriend.
"Hi," said Vince, holding his hands together.
"Hey, Vince, how have you been?" asked Sammi, taking a sip of water.
"Not much different from the last time you saw me. Sharise is busting my ball for no reason," complained Vince. Sammi stayed quiet from the sound of her name, looking at her nails. "So, you wanted to talk finally?"
"Yeah, I think I've had enough time being a bitch to you," said Sammi, reaching inside her purse. She pulled out a folded sheet of a notebook paper, bullet point thoughts all scribbled down to a mess. Vince scowled at Sammi, raising a questionable eyebrow at the girl.
"You have a list of shit?" asked Vince, wrinkling his nose.
"Yes, because I rather read off a list then run off emotions," Sammi said, scanning over what she wrote down. "As I said, I've had enough time being a bitch to you,"
"I wouldn't say a bitch. It's not like I didn't deserve any of it. Except maybe that bottle to my head," joked Vince. Sammi took a deep breath, laying the paper flat on the table for even Vince to see some thoughts. Sammi bit her lip, feeling her heart beating so fast in her chest, and she couldn't help calm it down. After a bit of silence, Sammi looked Vince right in the eyes that she loved so dearly.
"First off, when did you two meet exactly?" asked Sammi, swallowing the knot in her throat. Vince rubbed the sweat off his jeans, coughing to clear his throat.
"It was back in May when Tropicana was brand new. It was one of the nights you wanted to stay at your parents' place, I met up with some guys to drink with and ended up there," answered Vince, grabbing a sugar packet to keep his hands busy.
Sammi nodded, "And when you met her, did you two immediately hook up?"
"No! No. She just gave me a lap dance and kept flirting with me all night, but we didn't kiss or anything," replied Vince, biting his lip.
"So when did you two exactly have sex? Because I doubt you got her pregnant off a one time moment in August," Sammi bit the inside of her cheek, looking out the window to compose herself from any tears.
"July, I guess. I don't remember the exact fucking date. I just know that it was one of the nights you weren't feeling like going out," explained Vince, dropping his head into his hands' palm. Sammi shook her head, dabbing the corner of her eye to catch any tears from falling.
"So it went on for months? You had sex with her multiple times?" asked Sammi with a stern voice. Vince nodded sheepishly. "And you still fucking went back even after you got her pregnant. Then you got mad at me for having a good time when you ditched me for her back at Purple Moon! Oh my god," gasped Sammi, covering her face in her hand then pushing away hair that fell out of place.
"I didn't ditch you for her! I didn't know. She didn't even know! We only had sex max five times when I got crossfaded; it meant nothing,"
"Clearly, if you acted as if you didn't do anything. I thought for almost a full year; you were such a great boyfriend. You made me feel so happy, and yet you were sitting on this lie. You were lying every day," uttered Sammi, looking straight into Vince's eyes with tears building up. "Why? Why weren't you happy with just me?"
Vince slumped in his seat, finally feeling the heartbreak he caused to Sammi. He could finally see the sadness that came from his mistakes. Vince only received anger from Sammi after everything. He received Sammi's attitude tenfold, the rudeness, and the foul language. Vince never saw Sammi cry from the pain he caused, not even the first time he fucked up. "I was happy with you," whispered Vince, feeling his cheek flush with embarrassment. "I just don't know when to say no, especially now being a big shot rockstar. Now, look at me. I'm a dad who killed his friend, and everyone hates me,"
"I should have never gotten mad at you that night outside of Rainbow. I guess… I would get mad at you for doing dumb shit because I kept making mistakes behind your back. I wanted you to stay the same perfect Samantha. The one who was always ahead of everyone with a kind smile on her face," expressed Vince, having some sort of courage to look right in Sammi's eye when he spoke to her.
"I'm not perfect, Vince, nor will I ever be. Just because I have a different life than you doesn't make me better or lesser than you," said Sammi, looking back down at the piece of paper.
When did they meet?
When did they first hook up?
Ask if he regrets anything.
Ask if he was ever going to tell me.
Talk about him moving on so fast.
Ask if he's okay
Admit, I'm sleeping with Nikki. Fuck that.
"I don't hate you. I want you to know that," admitted Sammi, folding the piece of paper in her hands, stuffing it back in her handbag. "Do you regret anything you've done to me?"
"Yes, I regret being a manwhore to you. You had a point even back then in the beginning," mumbled Vince. "Do you regret being with me? After all the shit I put you through," asked Vince. Sammi looked down at the table, pondering on her emotions to answer Vince. It was a thought she said to herself after everything. Sammi knew everything people go through has a purpose and a lesson. It was great to be with Vince, but now thinking how half of it being based on a sitting lie, it hurts even more.
"It's funny. I keep telling myself I should've just been cold to you guys when I saw you all, and maybe I'd be okay. I don't regret being with you because a lot of fun came from it. I just wish it didn't end like I expected," confessed Sammi, wiping away a single tear that came down her face.
"I'm sorry for hurting you. Do you know if you can ever forgive me?"
"I want to, but maybe let's wait a while,"
"I figured… I'm also sorry about being paranoid about Nikki. Guess I'm a hypocrite for assuming," said Vince, shaking his head like he was dumb to think such a thing. Sammi bit her lip, anxiously bouncing her leg under the table from the words Nikki. Sammi knew everyone would find out soon enough, but hearing Vince calling himself a hypocrite just made it harder ever to spill the secret.
"It's okay. I forgive you for that," Sammi bit her tongue, knowing damn well she was wrong in this department. Vince smiled at Sammi, feeling like he was going in the right direction with his favorite girl. "If you didn't get caught, were you ever going to tell me?"
Vince looked out for a moment, trying not to lie to make himself look good. "Yeah, I was. After stopping I kept thinking about it, but then more shit got into the mix," Sammi could see the pain in Vince's eyes from talking so much, realizing this is most likely the most, he's opened up in a long time.
"Vince… be honest with me. Are you okay? How have you been doing with everything?" asked Sammi, resisting the urge to hold Vince's hands from across the table. Vince let out a heavy breath, going back to messing with the sugar packet.
"No, I'm not. I have to be completely sober until my court date. Your brother and his bitch won't shut their fucking mouths about it. Sharise and I fight for everything. And I have no idea how to be a dad," admitted Vince, eyes looking defeated to Sammi.
"You haven't done drugs? Or drank?" Vince shook his head. "Since the incident?" Sammi asked again in disbelief of a sober Vince.
"Yeah. I have to go get tested each week. This has been the soberest I've been since I was 15," said Vince.
"Tommy and Nikki shouldn't be on your ass for being a responsible person. I'll yell at them to stop bothering you if you need me to," offered Sammi, reaching out to hold Vince's hands. Vince didn't protest, enjoying the tiny bit of affection he received that wasn't sexual. It was just the needed kindness he desperately craved.
"It's okay, Sammi. I'm a grown man, and I should do things on my own. Even if it means my own band hates me for it," answered Vince, gently rubbing his thumb on the back of Sammi's hand. Sammi looked down at their hands, smiling to herself but kept reminding she isn't really a single woman. "But I appreciate the offer. Since you're so smart, do you have any advice for being a dad, or can you do that for me also?" joked Vince, smirking at Sammi.
Sammi couldn't help but giggle with Vince's joke, feeling like everything was back to normal. "No, I don't. You're just going to have to talk to Sharise about being a dad. Also, isn't your daughter like a month old or something? You have time to get better," said Sammi.
"Skylar. Her name's Skylar," smiled Vince.
"That's a pretty name. I'm sure you will have enough time to be a better dad to Skylar," reassured Sammi, squeezing Vince's hands.
"Thank you. Listen, I really appreciate this. I miss being able to talk to someone my shit," said Vince. Sammi smiled at Vince, beginning to play with fingers and pop them as if the two were back to being the normal them. "I even miss you popping my fingers. I guess you really do take things for granted until they're gone,"
"As much as I love an open and meaningful Vince, did you just learn that shit in probation rehab or?" asked Sammi, cracking a smile that made Vince laugh.
"Yeah. Yeah, I fucking did," admitted Vince, laughing along with Sammi. "But hey, it's an improvement! am I right?"
"It definitely is an improvement for sure," said Sammi, relaxing back in the booth. The two held hands for longer than needed, reminiscing on the feeling from the pasts. Vince couldn't help to think of how this wasn't like Sharise. He and Sharise never had a moment of comfortable silence, even after the nights of sex. It felt fast-paced and no ounce of peace compared to how Sammi loved gentle moments. Those moments where Sammi would dance her finger on Vince's scalp, making him relax while watching tv. The moments of Vince hugging Sammi from behind as she studied hard in his office space, giving her any feeling of reassurance. Vince was beginning to remember how bad he ruined this good thing in his life. Sammi didn't know what to say or do, only kept close before leaving and going back to Nikki.

August 9, 1985
Los Angeles, California
Sammi and Athena strut down Hollywood Boulevard, smiling and laughing with the wind playing up in their hair. Sammi glanced down on her wrist, seeing her brand new watch read 3:30 in the afternoon. The day was beautiful for the boys to start their tour, wind cooling the California summer heat and not a cloud in the sky. The Bass sisters had a day off to surprise Tommy and the boys while they did soundcheck, everything feeling perfect for once. After a short walk from the public parking garage, Athena opened the Hollywood Pantages Theatre's massive doors. The roadies were pacing around at the front of the theatre, putting up a table of merchandise of shirts, posters, and records. Sammi glanced around the grand entrance with glee until her eyes fell on a woman and a brand new blonde baby in her arms. Sammi froze from a distance, Athena standing next to her sister to catch Sammi's eyes on Sharise standing with a tiny Skylar.
Sharise bounded Skylar in her arms, seeming tired and irritated all at the same time until finally noticing the Bass sisters look at her. She forced a smile to Sammi, slowly approaching them in the center of the entrance. Athena laced her arm around Sammi's, standing in as the protective sister she was. Sammi almost held her breath, couldn't keep her eyes off Skylar.
"Hi, Sammi. Hi, Athena. How have you girls been?" asked Sharise with a kind smile.
"We've been good, Sharise. How's being a new mama?" asked Sammi with no anger in her heart, smiling as if she was catching up with an old friend.
"Crazy. I had no idea how much one baby can be such a handful. It isn't easy when you feel like you're doing it alone," vented Sharise, smiling at Skylar look at Athena and Sammi in curiosity.
Sammi smiled at the baby. "Hi, Skylar! Aren't you just the prettiest little girl," cooed Sammi making Skylar laugh a bit.
"Vince isn't helping you?" asked Athena, frowning deep 11 lines between her brows.
"No, he tries but gives up and just looks at me to finish everything. He's also under a lot of stress with touring and his court date. I'm sure he vented to you about it," said Sharise to Sammi, pressing her lips hard together.
"Um… yeah, he did, but I told him to talk to you about it. You and Vince can help each navigate being brand new parents together," uttered Sammi, playing with her hands to ease the nerves.
"Thank you for trying. I don't think I'll see that happening anytime soon," mumbled Sharise, trying to keep Skylar from jumping out of her arms. For being two months old, she had the capability of moving around fast, almost like her daddy. It was cute to everyone but hard for Sharise to keep her still when necessary. Skylar's arms popped up wide from her little chest, reaching out for Sammi to hold her. Sharise tried to make Skylar stop moving, but it only resulted in Skylar letting out small cries.
"I think she wants Sammi to hold her?" questioned Athena, switching glances between the two girls.
"Oh no, you don't have to, Sammi. I get it if it's uncomfortable," offered Sharise.
"Honestly, it's not. I'm completely okay holding little Skylar," said Sammi, reaching out to hold the baby, slowly switching between her and Sharise. Sammi bounced Skylar in her arms, seeing a bright smile that almost resembled Vince's. Skylar rested her head on Sammi's shoulder, feeling very at peace in Sammi's even though she was a complete stranger. Athena and Sharise gawked in shock at the baby's reaction, seeing how gentle and kind Sammi appeared.
"Wow. You're the first person she's felt comfortable with that wasn't family," admitted Sharise, not knowing if she favored this or not. Sharise knew she was the other woman who got in between Sammi and Vince, but she wasn't used to the kindness she was receiving.
"I guess babies just love me. Jesus, you're gonna look just like your dad. I can already see it," said Sammi to Skylar in a cute voice, making her smile. Sharise slightly shaking her head at Sammi's statement.
"You were on your way to see Vince or?" asked Athena.
"Yeah, since he's gonna be on tour, I thought I'd visit family in Nebraska. I really don't like being alone in that big house," said Sharise, fixing her hair.
"Well, in that case, let's see them before they ditch this place," announced Athena, heading right to the theatre doors.
"You can keep carrying her if you want. She really likes you," said Sharise, following Athena's footsteps. Sammi followed behind with Skylar quietly resting on her hip, almost falling asleep. The theatre was ginormous, having an upstairs for extra people to sit. The album cover was drawn big on the center stage as roadies continued to set up amps and instruments. The three girls could see Vince sat in the front row seats, isolated from the guys on the stage. Sammi could tell Nikki appeared more irritated than before, sipping on his soda with a sulking stare. Tommy and Mick talking among themselves, soon seeing the women come closer. As the girls reached the stage, Sammi stood right in front of Vince, smiling mischievously.
"Surprise! I have your child," said Sammi, Skylar noticing her dad seated down in front of them now. She began cooing in excitement, reaching out for Vince as he stood up from the red velvet chair.
"Uhh, why are you here? And why do you have my child?" asked Vince, lifting his daughter out of Sammi's arms, giving her a kiss on the forehead.
"What? I can't come to visit my brother and friends at work? Also, Skylar wanted me!" said Sammi, crossing her arms, still smiling pridefully while Sharise stood right by her. Vince switched looks between the two women, unable to say anything that came into his head. 'They're  acting like friends?'  thought Vince, also seeing the confused looks from the rest of Motley.
"Skylar has found someone to like that isn't related to us. Isn't that nice for our little girl?" said Sharise, showing her annoyance for Vince already after a few words. Athena could see the tension needing to be cut with a knife, stepping over to Sammi to grab her hand and watch this drama from a distance. Sammi smiled at the couple, heading towards Nikki, Tommy, and Mick, who also wanted to see the show. Nikki shook his head at Sharise and Vince, Sammi boosting herself up to sit right next to him on stage. Athena standing right by Mick, who strummed on his guitar.
"Is this bring your fucking girlfriend to work day?" whispered Nikki to everyone, Tommy giggling.
"Wish I had a girlfriend," mumbled Mick with sadness, sipping the water bottle he always carried. Athena softly reassured Mick, placing a delicate hand on his shoulder.
"I know Mick, I know," muttered Nikki, seeing Sammi staring right at him with a scowl. "Can I help you?" asked Nikki, getting closer to Sammi's face, making her break into an almost smile.
"Who else's girlfriends have been coming in today?" asked Sammi, raising an eyebrow in question. Nikki smirked and chuckled, hinting as to who else has come to the venue without exposing them. He really did like reaching the edge of getting caught. Sammi could see Sharise grab Skylar out of Vince's arms in the short distance, saying a monotone goodbye and turning on her heels to the door. Vince didn't hold back his somber face, hearing Skylar cries echo throughout the theater. Sammi caught Vince's eyes, giving a sympathetic smile to reassure him. Vince just stayed in his seat to sulk.
"Heather came today before going to pick up her parents. I'm having dinner with them tonight before we head out on Saturday after this show," said Tommy, stealing a sip of Mick's water bottle. "Where… I will propose…" mumbled Tommy, coughing. Athena and Sammi whipping their heads fast with big eyes at their older brother.
"You're proposing?!" yelled out the Bass sisters in unison. Everyone in the building turned their heads to the sisters, beginning to eavesdrop. Sammi jumped off the stage, standing right in front of Tommy with arms crossed, ready to lecture him as if he were a child. Vince came up from his seat, almost slamming against Sammi with his jaw dragging on the floor.
"You wanna get married?!" asked Vince frantically, frowning at the drummer.
"How long have you two even been dating? Trust me, it's not been long!" said Athena, restraining herself from raising her voice.
"I know, but I feel confident about Heather! Mama and Dad love her, which is great, and look how nice she is! You guys always know I wanted to get married to someone I love," explained Tommy, dropping to his feet to the ground and standing up for himself.
"Dude, the last girl you wanted to marry called me a cunt, and I almost punched her. Why can't you just wait a year?" expressed Sammi, frowning with deep concern. Tommy scratched his head, looking down at feet with everyone staring at him.
"It's different this time. I swear it really is and come on I know you girls love her too. Can I just please have my two favorite people be on my side? Please?" begged Tommy, smiling down at his sisters. Athena and Sammi exchanged looks of worry melting away with the love they had for their brother.
"Fine, you're right. If you're thrilled with Heather, then I guess we should be too. Right, Sammi?" asked Athena, nudging Sammi with her elbow.
"Yeah. She is pretty nice," mumbled Sammi, smiling at Tommy. Tommy hugged Athena and Sammi so tight it almost made Sammi regret being sweet. Sammi pushed away from the group hug, seeing Vince on the verge of wanting to speak to her. Nikki grabs Mick's water bottle, jumping off the edge of the stage to hang an arm around Vince's shoulders.
"Want some water, Vince? Made a mint too?" asked Nikki, chuckling at Vince's discomfort of being sober. Sammi rolled her eyes, pushing Nikki's arm off of Vince, gaining a smile from the blonde and a scowl from Nikki.
"Leave him alone, Nikki. You shouldn't be tempting him like that," scolded Sammi.
"Why? He's a big boy. If he wants to break he little sobriety that's on him," said Nikki, poking Vince in the cheek only to get his hand slapped away. Sammi shook her head, narrowing eyes to Nikki, becoming peeved on the way he was behaving.
"You're such an asshole, Nikki," spat Sammi, looping her arm onto Vince's and pulling him away from everyone. "Come on, Vin, I need a smoke already," Vince didn't object to Sammi, surprised but still smiling at the gesture. Nikki stared at the two walkings off, mouth opened slightly as if he was the one who should be offended.
"Oh, so you two are friends now?" shouted Athena. Tommy looked in disbelief, but with some sort of happiness that the two were friendly again.
"Yeah!" yelled Sammi, pushing open the doors and heading straight to the main doors. Sammi let go of Vince's arm, searching in her purse for her pack of cigarettes until Vince held up two cigarettes. She happily took for herself, leaning towards her own lighter and passing it to Vince. She inhaled for a moment, feeling the smoke relax her until Sammi blew it out into the wind. Sammi side-eyed Vince seeing him smile with glee while smoke aside her.
"What's that smile for?" asked Sammi with a smirk on her lips
"Just find it enjoyable when you call out people on rare occasions. Such a loudmouth for such a tiny body," said Vince.
"You could say you're welcome to get Nikki off your back," suggested Sammi, shrugging her shoulders while keeping the same energy.
"Thank you. I highly appreciate it," smiled Vince. "I swear I don't know how I'm going to be able to be on a bus with those guys, mainly Nikki,"
"I'm sure it won't be as bad as you think," reassured Sammi, stepping on the small cigarette bud.
"Really? I'm sober while the rest of my band is too high or drunk to know what's going on. I mean, look at our album, it's crap!" vented Vince.
"It can't be crap if it's doing so well," said Sammi.
"Have you ever listened to the album? The whole thing?" asked Vince, seeing Sammi shake her head. "Okay, so what songs have you heard?"
"Home Sweet Home…" muttered Sammi.
"The only good original song plus the cover we did. That's it! Nikki was too high to write actual good songs,"
"He's written with coke in his system before, and it's been fine. It's just one album that you don't like. Pretty sure every one band member in any band has felt like that," said Sammi, moving to be right next to Vince on the wall. Vince frowned at Sammi, giving her pity on her oblivion.
"Sam, Nikki's been doing more than just coke lately. You haven't seen the tiny tracks on his arm?" asked Vince, raising an eyebrow.
"What?" questioned Sammi, blinking rapidly.
"He's been shooting up. He's doing heroin and mixing coke and something else with Tommy. You really haven't noticed?" said Vince, stepping on his cigarette to get another one. Sammi stared at Vince in disbelief, not wanting to think of Nikki going back to heroin after being together. After he promised he wasn't going to do it again.
"I'm an idiot," whispered Sammi, dropping her head into the palm of her hand. "So he never stopped? Even after the studio incident?" Vince shook his head to Sammi, only making her huff.
"Did he tell you he was going to stop?" asked Vince, taking a drag from his cigarette. Sammi nodded, looking down at the ground. "And when did he tell you that?"
"Back in February. I went to his house and tried talking to him after what happened to you. I flushed the rest of the shit he had in his room," confessed Sammi, looking at Vince with sad eyes.
"Clearly, that didn't stop him. Please don't tell me he got angry at you for flush his drugs down the toilet," said Vince, turning his body to face Sammi.
"He grabbed my wrist really hard but apologized after. That was it. God, I'm so stupid for believing him!" yelled Sammi, feeling her cheeks turn red from embarrassment. Vince sighed, stepping on his cigarette, slowly wrapping his arm around Sammi's shoulders. Sammi didn't reject the hug, her arm finding Vince's waist and resting her head on his chest. Vince rubbed Sammi's arm for comfort, resting his chin on the top of his former girlfriend's head.
"It's not your fault Sammi for having a big heart. You just have to realize you're talking to four men who don't listen to anything. Even if we know we're doing something completely wrong," calmly said Vince, being the one to get reassurance for once in a long time.
"So what, you guys are just gonna slowly kill yourselves?"
"Look, you can try as hard as you want to get to Nikki because I know he mildly listens to you, but don't be sad if nothing happens," said Vince, letting go of Sammi and digging his hands in his jean pockets. "And try not to flush his drugs again. I wouldn't want to beat his ass for hurting you," Vince pinched Sammi's cheek, making her smile like always, not knowing if they should head back to soundcheck.
"Okay… I'll take your advice," mumbled Sammi, giving Vince a proper hug.
"You'll what?" asked Vince with a cunning smile, squeezing Sammi with his arms. Sammi began laughing out loud to Vince, trying her best to break out of the hug.
"I said I'll take your advice! Jesus, stop squeezing me!" ordered Sammi, breaking to giggles as Vince still kept a tight grip on the small girl. "What is it gonna take for you to let me go!?" asked Sammi, almost falling back.
"Say I'm your best friend who's right for once," shouted Vince, leaning forward to make Sammi bend backward, his laughs muffled against Sammi's shoulder.
"No!" Vince squeezed Sammi a bit harder, "Fine! You're my best friend who's actually right for once in his life!" shouted Sammi, finally being released by Vince's grip, seeing him have a shit-eating grin on his face. "Happy?'
"Yep!" said Vince, about to head back inside until Sammi took hold of his wrist. "What?"
"Well, 'best friend,' you're not gonna tell me why Sharise looked like she hated you earlier?" asked Sammi, raising an eyebrow.
Vince huffed, "I haven't been able to talk to her. She keeps running off on me to her friends or family. Please, I don't want to talk about it anymore. The fact you two looked like friends today weirded me out," said Vince, opening the doors to the theater.
"Hey, in my defense, Skylar likes me some odd reason!" shouted Sammi, following Vince.
"In that case, do you want to babysit and teach me to be a dad?" teased Vince, smiling at Sammi rolling her eyes.
"In your dreams," said Sammi, jabbing her elbow in Vince's side.
*
A hard knock echoed in Sammi's apartment, halting Sammi from draining the pasta she had boiling. She checked the analog clock that hung on her wall, wondering who would stop by out of the blue. After turning off the stove, Sammi opened the door without caution, surprised to see an upset Nikki standing in the hallway. Nikki rose there in the same dark vest and button-down from earlier, eyes tired as always.
"Why are you here? I didn't invite you over," asked Sammi, crossing her arms against her chest. Nikki pushed past Sammi, stomping into the apartment, sitting right down on the small dining table. He looked over the breakfast bar seeing the stem coming from the stove, nodding with approval.
"I thought since you were quiet to me after your smoke with your little ex, I'd drop by. Here to remind you what you got in your bed," said Nikki, leaning back against the chair with one arm resting on the back. Sammi closed her front door, stepping towards Nikki with a great distance.
"Please don't tell me you're jealous of Vince now? I already dealt with enough of that from him," said Sammi, leaning against the wall.
"I don't get jealous. Now, where's my dinner?" sniffed Nikki, wiping at his nose and bouncing his leg fast as he couldn't look Sammi in the eye.
"At your house. Where you keep your heroin," spat Sammi, getting Nikki to look her in the eye, his face going almost pale compared to olive skin. Sammi inhaled deeply, ready to fight with Nikki as her blood began to boil. Nikki stayed silent, trying to think of some bullshit lie to Sammi.
"Who told you that? Vince? You're really going to believe Vince, the guy who cheated on you?" asked Nikki, scowling at Sammi with deep wrinkles in-between his eyebrows.
Sammi shook her head, standing up straight. "Yeah, I am. Because him being sober from drugs means he sees shit when I'm not there. I know you're shooting up again! And I know you're doing some other shit drug with my brother!" yelled Sammi, pointing her finger right at Nikki. Sammi could see the discomfort on Nikki's face, him shifting in his seat, unable to even look unguilty.
"He's lying! I'm not doing it! You don't see me do that shit!" shouted Nikki, standing up to Sammi, getting closer to her face. Sammi stepped back a bit, glaring up hard at Nikki's dark eyes.
"Yeah, when you're here! I don't know what you do when you leave in the middle of the night! Or when you're by yourself in your house! How come we never go there anymore, huh?" demanded Sammi, pushing Nikki in the chest. Nikki stumbled back for a moment, flaring his nostrils from the sight of Sammi.
"Did you tell your little boyfriend about us then? Huh? You had to if you two decided to talk shit about me," muttered Nikki, getting right up close to Sammi, her back slamming against the wall. Sammi felt scared but knew she had to stand her ground in this situation, even if it resulted in something terrible.
"No, I didn't. Only how I flushed your drugs the last time, and you gripped my wrist. Are you going to admit it, or do I have to raid your room again and wait for you to hit me?" said Sammi, inhaling shakingly. Nikki took a few steps back, glaring at Sammi. Nikki then kicked one of the dining chairs, sending it flying across the room, almost breaking it. Sammi jumped in fear, covering her mouth from almost yelping, eyes open wide.
"Jesus fucking Christ, Sammi! Why do you give a shit if I'm shooting up!? I'm not offering it to you! You do coke, Ms. College Graduate! So why do you give a fuck?!" yelled Nikki, ready to pull his hair out of his head.
"Because it's dangerous! You can die if you go too far! Why would you throw all of this away for some drug?!" shouted Sammi, staying far away from Nikki. "And when I do coke, I fucking stop for MONTHS, alright?! I don't go on benders like the rest of you,"
"Yeah, because you think you're better than us. Just because we're not some assholes wearing a suit and tie to work with a stupid piece of paper," mumbled Nikki.
"Oh shut up, Nikki. Get that shit out of your head and get the fuck out of my apartment!" ordered Sammi.
Nikki narrowed his eyes at Sammi, walking closer to her only to have Sammi step away from him. "You're sure about that, Samantha?"
"Yes, I am, because you and I are fucking done! Whatever we are, we are done! I'm not dealing with your shit while you spiral out of control," said Sammi. Nikki didn't bother to move from where he stood, seeing if Sammi was only bluffing. "Get out! I want you out! Get the fuck out!" shouted Sammi, moving behind Nikki and pushing towards the door. She didn't restrain herself, pushing him harder and more aggressive as they got to the door. Nikki couldn't stop Sammi, shocked at the small girl's anger. Sammi yanked the door open, pushing Nikki out of her apartment with all her force.
"Sammi wait-" Sammi slammed the door right on Nikki's face, dropping herself to the floor. She let her head fall on her knees, a sob escaping her lips. Sammi felt the same sadness she once felt when discovering Vince cheating on her. She couldn't stop thinking how much of an idiot Sammi was for not paying attention. Sitting on the floor to let her sorrows out was the only thing Sammi wanted to do. She cried out alone like Sammi had been for some time now, almost like a repeated cycle since knowing all of Motley Crue.

{ MASTERLIST }
Touring is a new and special kind of hell now that she's actually trying to be good at her job and not sleep with most of the band.
It was actually rather nice to reconnect with them in a way she hadn't been able to, with Vince and Tommy and even Mick; for all she'd been around them, the tour was the first time she could convincingly call them good friends. Now more than ever was she fulfilling her role as the band's assistant, and more importantly, as their wrangler.
"Nikki needs to be onstage in three minutes!" Doc shouts through the door of his dressing room, and Lola calls back that he'll be there, despite the fact that he's busy hurling into the toilet, and she's holding back his hair.
And of course, he'll be there, on time, puke free for the most part, and Lola's taking the first song to breathe for the first time since getting to the venue. And she finds one of Nikki's syringes in his bag, and takes the edge off before she has to be side-of-stage herself.
She makes a point of spending time with Tommy, and more often than not, she's the one handcuffing him to the bed at the end of the night; unfortunately it's at Doc's insistence, after Tommy goes out of control in the early hours before dawn.
Tommy, who will absolutely not remember this the next morning, fixes Lola with a blurry, vaguely lustful stare as she affixes his wrist to the bedpost.
"This feels familiar," he laughs, blind drunk, giving the handcuff a rattle for good measure.
Behave, Lola reminds herself, and she steps off of the bed as he makes grabby hands at her.
"Stay, Lols, please stay," he whines, and Lola swallows hard, smiling despite how her heart was beginning to ache under the effects of his puppy-dog eyes, "I've missed you." And that hurts like a physical ache.
"You're engaged," she reminds him gently, and Tommy's pleading gaze immediately turns blissfully fond as he remembers Heather waiting for him back home.
"I'm engaged," he repeats back, almost dreamily, "I think this one's gonna stick." He tells Lola with as much earnestness as he can manage. Lola's smile starts to crack.
"I'm happy for you, drummer boy," she tells him gently, patting his shin, and Tommy sighs happily.
"You won't tell her about the- the groupies, right? The girls backstage?" He asks, suddenly worried, and Lola sighs deeply. "They- Heather's so perfect, Lols, she's so sweet, and so fucking hot." He all but groans, shifting his hips in a drunken, horny stupor, "if I could have her backstage after every show, I would, I would in a heartbeat, Lols, I just- I don't, and I'm weak, you know I'm so weak." He whines, and Lola has to remind herself that his happiness is what was most important, that she's being selfish for feeling hurt. She tries to smile a little wider.
"You and Nikki," Tommy starts, but his expression falls, and it's like he sees her again, sees how hard she's trying, "you guys," his voice is so gentle, "we were so lucky." He muses, and she's not quite sure if he even realised his mistake, "having each other all the time? So lucky." He says with a faint, surprisingly warm smile.
Lola can't help herself.
"We were so lucky." She agrees, and it's all she can do to leave.
As a stark contrast, Vince hates being sober, especially with the rest of the band practically black out drunk from the moment they wake up, but with Lola at the very least not drinking, they take to partying together rather frequently. But Lola watches with growing concern as Vince grows bored with the hard-partying lifestyle the longer he goes without a drink.
"It's killing me," Vince admits. He's got Lola in his lap at a party, more to keep himself from hitting on any other women, because it appears she and Sharise have conspired together to try and keep him faithful. It works, sort of, he still fucks a lot, but he's got it down to about one girl per city, and he definitely doesn't fuck Lola.
"What? Your dick? Dude yout hard-on is skewering my thigh," Lola tells him with a grimace.
"No," Vince flushes, shifting his hips a little, while Lola clenched her teeth and reminded herself to behave. Why did she wear a damn skirt? "I'm fucking tired of being treated like a damn kid; can't fuck when I want, can't drink, not even allowed anu fuckin' dope. Prison was more fun than this." Lola gives him a curious look, but he's quick to backtrack on that particular statement.
"Call Sharise."
"We always finish too late, I don't wanna keep waking her up after midnight," Vince muses gloomily. His grip around Lola's midsection tightens and he presses his lips to her shoulder. "What if I get you off, for old time's sake?"
Lola sighed, shifting so she face mostly facing Vince.
"You know it won't make you happy, lover boy," Lola's fingers were gentle on his cheek, and Vince leaned into her touch, expression forlorn as he sighed and nodded.
"This isn't fun anymore," Vince admitted, "I fucking hate being away from Skylar, I'm missing all the big moments in her life, and instead I get to watch everyone else having the time of their lives." Lola hugs him, holds him close enough to press his face into her boobs, perhaps as some sort of consolation.
"You can still leave," he tells Lola, reaching up to trace the tattoo of the drumsticks on her collarbones, "you should run while you can, get out before it kills you." Lola laughs but he doesn't understand why, just continues, "after all the shit you've been through, I wouldn't blame you. Leave us in the care of Doc, collect your last paycheck, and disappear forever."
Lola just gives him a sad smile and cards her fingers through his hair.
"Vinny, I don't have anywhere else to go." It's said with a sad smile, and air of finality, and Vince plants a kiss on her cheek before gently urging her to stand up. He goes and tries to call Skylar, and Lola finds Nikki and drags him to a bathroom, shakes him down for a syringe full of heroin she knows she has. And he kisses her, sloppy and slurred, and Lola holds him close so her hands don't shake.
Nikki is easy, Nikki is familiar, Nikki she knows better than she knows herself, can read him as easily as breathing. He moves and she moves in sync, their whole life an unspoken duet.
"You told me not to kill myself over Tommy," Lola and Mick are the only ones awake in the back of the tour bus at eleven in the morning; Lola's sipping a coffee, riding the high of shooting up right before they'd left the last hotel, and Mick's reading a newspaper. "Did you ever think that he wouldn't be the one to kill me?"
"He didn't," Mick reminds her pointedly, and Lola casts a nervous glance to the bunks at the back of the bus, but no-one made a move towards waking up. Mick looks up from his paper to follow her gaze, before he looks back at her.
"You never worried about me and Nikki?"
"No point," Mick huffed, looking back at his paper. This was not the answer she'd been expecting, and it takes a long moment for her to order her thoughts. By the time she had, however, Mick had already lowered his paper, anticipating her next question, "if you wanted to kill yourself over Nikki fuckin' Sixx, there's no person on Heaven or Earth who could talk you out of it." He tells her flatly, "I wasn't about to waste my time on you co-dependent sociopaths."
And perhaps she wants to be offended, but the more she ponders on the sentiment, the more she finds comfort in it, can't help but bring it to Nikki.
The night, though it's almost six am, is warm and humid, and after a hard night of partying, they fall into bed together, like so many nights before. Something about Mick's words plays on her mind, and maybe it's that she's not quite sure where she ends and Nikki begins in this heat, but she doesn't want to let him go.
"Mick said something weird to me the other day," Lola starts, her head on his chest as she's catching her breath, and she feels Nikki's laughter as it rumbles through his chest, his arm around her, sweat sticking them and their hotel's bedsheets together in the afterglow.
"Everything Mick says is weird," Nikki snorts, "the guy's an alien." His idle hand draws an indistinct patterns on the sheet over her thigh.
"Do you think we're codependent?"
"Yeah."
"And don't you think that's... bad or something?" Lola tries, but Nikki just hums noncommittally.
"I don't know what you want me to say, Lo," Nikki tells her, voice shooting for something other than blunt, but not quite hitting the mark, "you're all I really know," he admits after a moment, voice softening, tone far away, as if there's something else on his mind, "and I know I could live without you, just like you could live without me, but I don't want to." He swallowed hard.
"I don't either." Lola says with a small smile, but when she looks to Nikki, he's gazing at the roof.
"I didn't realise I'd have to learn to live without shit I thought I needed, you know?" He says, and Lola's expression falls. Nikki looks back at her, as if realizing what he's said, and licks his lips, hesitating. Sensing his sudden nervousness, wraps herself around him, hugs him so he doesn't have to look her in the eyes, and squeezes her eyes shut tightly as she feels him breathe a sigh of relief. "I didn't mean you." Nikki says, his arms around her, warm and solid, his lips gentle against the shell of her ear as she kisses his shoulder gently.
"I didn't think you did," she says, with the faintest air of amusement, and Nikki huffs a quiet laugh. Neither lets go.
"Did you write Starry Eyes for me?" She murmurs against his skin, and Nikki holds her just a little tighter. She feels him nod.
"Wrote a lot of things for you," he trails his fingertips down her back gently, and Lola feels herself all but melting under his touch. Up and down, gentle as a feather, they lay, wrapped up in each other, in silence, until Nikki's hand stills, palm warm and flat against the small of her back.
"Tommy asked me to be his best man," he says, voice surprisingly raw, and Lola stays still as a statue.
"Congratulations," is all she can manage, a pit in her stomach at the very mention of Tommy's upcoming wedding.
"I couldn't say no," but it sounds like he wanted to, and Lola slowly sits up, straddling Nikki, her hand on his bare chest as she searches his face for what he's trying to tell her. Instead, Nikki reaches up, his hand coming to rest on her ribs right over her heart, "I think I get it. Being with Nicole was never about the drugs, was it?"
Lola's mouth opens in a surprised, quietly hurt oh, and her hand moves to join his.
"I don't -" but the words won't come out, and Nikki gives her this strange little half-smile.
"Am I an ass if I say that I hate Heather?" Nikki asks, and Lola's shock melts a little as she starts to realize exactly what Nikki's saying.
"She makes Tommy happy," she tells him, like she's told herself a thousand times before, wearing a sad smile.
"So do you," Nikki tells her, and Lola's heart starts to ache in a way that's all too familiar, "so do we." Nikki says quietly, unable to look her in the eyes. "How the fuck did you do this twice? How do you just say 'they're happier without me' and be okay with it?" His lip curls into a snarl and he gently pushes Lola off of him, maneuvering himself to the side of the bed, hunching in on himself. There's tears beginning to sting Lola's eyes, but Nikki's voice is raw, is bitter as he asks, "does it always fucking hurt?"
"I don't want to lie to you-" Lola tries, but Nikki turns, snaps at her.
"I don't care! How the fuck can you watch them together and not want to yell at him that he's throwing away -?" Nikki's mouth snaps shut, and the fury in his eyes dies down, too afraid to voice his thoughts. Like approaching a wild animal, Lola slowly makes her way over to him, wrapping him up in her arms, letting him rest his forehead against her shoulder.
"I didn't even know I was... was allowed to love him like this," the words spill from him, messy, angry, and Lola's silent, curled over him like a shield from the outside world, tears dripping from her eyelashes, "didn't even realise I did, but Heather just thinks she can, can what? Fucking take him? From us?" His grip on Lola is tight, his nails digging into her skin when all he can focus on is his own anger, but after a moment of silence, he feels the way Lola's shaking, and he comes back to reality, "Lo?"
"It always hurt," Lola whispers through her tears, "Nikki, it always fucking hurts."

Survey #303
“if i can’t be loved, then i’ll be hated”
What color are your glasses, if applicable? Black. Candy corn or conversation hearts? They're both gross, don't make me pick between garbage. Do you own a lot of earrings? Not really after I weeded them out before moving. What did your backpack in high school look like? I dare say I had the dopest backpack of them all. It looked like a massive Ouija board, and the zipper was the planchet (sp?). Have you ever been to a rave? Nah. What is your favorite art medium? I have a particular fondness of oil paintings. They tend to look so smooth, and you can achieve incredible realism with them. How far away is the nearest hospital from you? Not even five minutes, I think. Who was the last person you visited in a hospital? My mom. What is your favorite car color? Pink, duh. How did you learn to type? We actually had a class specifically for typing in middle school. What style of wedding dress do you want? I don't have that set in stone yet, but I really do love ballgown dresses with long trains as well as a-lines with a moderate train. I love a lot, except really for mermaid dresses. Do you fit into any stereotype, or are you non-stereotypical? I don't know if I fit perfectly into any and really don't care. Would you want your first child to have your hair color? ???? I don't care about their hair lol?????? It would depend on the hypothetical father, in which case I'd probably find it cute, but this is so, so unimportant. Do you enjoy writing in cursive? Yeah, it just feels good and flowy to me. What is your favorite hair color? Natural? Probably blonde with natural darker undertones throughout. I like blonde hair because it's far easier to dye, haha. Now, if we're including DYED hair, rose gold or pastel pink is *chefs kiss* What is your favorite eye color? Sapphire blue, probz. Would you put your birthday on a different day if you could? Nah, it's fine where it is. What holiday is your birthday closest to? Valentine's. Do you vent on social media a lot? NOOOOOOOO. I barely post ANYTHING about myself on social media because I feel like I'm being annoying, self-absorbed, find anything I do actually interesting, or don't want people to think I'm a whiner. All I ever really do on social media is share or reblog funny shit, things I love, stuff I find relatable or inspirational, educational, important for whatever reason, etc... Do you have abusive parents? I am very thankful to say no. Is your house haunted? Doesn't seem like it. What's your favorite thing to watch on YouTube? I'm in a real WoW-related phase lately... Watching my favorite streamers, gold farming guides, and other various aspects of the game. What are five health problems that you have? I talk about the mental issues enough, so I guess I'll talk about physical stuff here. Uhhh I have very low blood pressure (it's a med side effect), I have extremely weak legs following muscle atrophy, I have bad tremors, especially in my hands (amplified by medication once again), maybe TMI but we're adults here and it's a legit issue that I have chronic and severe conspitation, aaaand then of course I have hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) to a fucking outrageous and also humiliating degree. Ooooonce again as a prescription side effect. This answer made meds sound kinda bad, I know, but really, I'd rather have the will to live and just have to deal with these than want to die everyday and not. Do you have surgery coming up? No, let's keep it that way until I lose enough weight and when I am 110% getting loose skin removal. Which family member(s) do you look the most like? My sisters, ig. People say my mom also, but I honestly don't see it. Have you ever cried while watching a YouTube video? Yeah, usually just in let's plays, but it's happened for other reasons. Are you missing a website that just shut down? Nah, none that I know of. NO. FUCKING WAIT. So, when my laptop was fixed, a LOT of shit was wiped from it, and that included all of my goddamn Lightroom editing presets. The site they were from no longer exists, so I had to use a different, pretty sub-par one to install at least a few because it helps me get a start on editing the photograph and leaning towards the "vibe" I want before spending like 15+ minutes tuning it myself. Would you be a barefoot bride? No. Which would you rather name your daughter: Eliana, Echo, Emerald, or Ellery? Ohhh, I like these. I think I prefer "Eliana," but "Echo" is a close second. "Ellery" is nice, but it sounds too much like "celery" to name my kid that lmao. Which would you rather name your son: Maverick, Matthew, or Moses? Ugh, none, honestly. But "Matthew" wins. When was the last time you gave a speech? Like a *legit" speech? Probably not since uhhh... I guess when I argued my disability case at court? Does that even count? Have you ever been in a stampede? Well, never seen this'n in a survey before, so good job, lol. No. If you were a fairy, what color would you like your wings to be? It would depend on what I wore, really. And my hair. But probably light pink. Would you rather name your son Storm, Skylar, Sorin, or Solomon? "Sorin." "Skylar" is SO Southern, and "Solomon" sounds like the creepy kid all his classmates avoid and I ain't putting my kid through that. Did you read a devotional this morning? Not my jam. Would you rather be named Arizona, Alaska, Cali, or Georgia? Hm... "Alaska" is actually kinda cool???? And I'm white as fuck so lol????? I wouldn't mind to nickname of "Ally," anyway. Are you repulsed by ugly reptiles? lololol bro get out Did all your friends know about your first crush or was it a secret? I was definitely secretive and shy about it when I first started getting crushes. Do you ever feel insecure about going out without makeup? I feel insecure either way, so... How many different natural hair colors are there in your immediate family? So, this is a hard question to answer. My mom was born with brown hair, but it darkened to almost black; only her daughter Katie inherited that. By some genetic magic, Dad had blond hair as a kid, but it also turned black. Like... how?????? I was born with dirty blonde hair like him, and mine turned an average brown with age. My immediate sisters have always had brown hair. What is your favorite online game? World of Warcraft is ballin'. Would you ever want to be famous and sign autographs? Ha, the idea of signing autographs is awful... I can't physically write very long without my carpal tunnel flaring up. Do you like your shirt to be loose or tight? LOOSE. Especially as a bigger person, tight shirts are just really uncomfortable. What is your favorite Spanish name? I don't know nearly enough to answer this. Would you rather visit Asia or Europe? I think Asia is, in general, more interesting and prettier as a whole, but I guess I'm drawn to European culture being more like my own and there are specific locations I'm interested in, like Germany or Scotland. So to answer the question, I guess Europe wins. Are there any Asians in your family? I don't believe so. Have you ever had colored braces? Haha yeah, I did that when I had them. Do you take birth control pills? Yes, just for period cramps. Without them, they can be immobilizing for me. If you live in the USA: do you feel free and safe? Ha, no. Well, not *entirely*. Have you ever been sick on your birthday? I was recovering from the stomach virus, if that counts. As in I still got sick the day before and felt iffy on my actual bday. 17th, I think? Is talking about your past painful for you? Yes. Are you a member of any support groups online? I'm a member of The Mighty site, if that counts. When I'm feeling very, very sound of mind and helpful without all the negativity being a detriment to myself, I do like going on there and trying to help or comfort people. Have you ever called a suicide hotline? Yes, and the line was busy, and that's when I decided I was a goner. Do you ever fantasize about revenge? I uhhhhh... sometimes. What's a movie you would recommend to someone who never watches movies? Ohhh, that's hard. I don't really watch movies either, and I'm trying to think of one that essentially anyone would like, so hm. Oh, Coco is absolutely a possibility. That movie touched me so, so deeply and is high on my favorites list. It's impossible to not feel the emotions. Do you want to have grandkids? Hell, I don't want kids. Do you want to be an aunt or uncle? I already am one, and I love being an aunt. Who was your favorite Spice Girl? I don't remember their names or characters in general. Did you make a lot of home videos growing up? I mean *I* didn't, but Mom filmed quite a few. Do you enjoy babysitting? NO. What's an unpopular opinion that you have? Avoiding some political ones, uhhhh. OH. HERE'S ONE. THE SCENE AESTHETIC IS FUCKING CUTE AND NOT CRINGEY AND YOU CAN FIGHT ME ABOUT IT. Are you attracted to the opposite gender, same gender, or both? Both are A+. Was your first crush on someone of the same gender or opposite? Opposite. As a kid, I didn't even fathom the concept that women could date women. What is something you'll never eat again? Why? Brussel sprouts. Fucking disgusting. What is currently happening that is scaring you? Besides the very obvious answer of "Covid," I worry about my mom a lot. She's so weakened after all the chemo and meds and can do literally less than I can without heavily breathing and sweating. I just worry a lot that cancer will return sooner than we hope; I don't want it to EVER come back, but doctors say it is very, very likely at one point or another because she was so very close to Stage 4. What would be your personal hell? Being completely and entirely isolated forever while somewhere hot and humid, lol. And play one of my trigger songs on repeat eternally. What made the "weird kid" at your school weird? There was this poor guy named Alfred that was VERY clearly depressed out of his mind, and I heard him speak maybe once through all of high school, and the entire class couldn't believe it. He always sat way in the back and never smiled. I wonder how he is nowadays. What is a word you personally find offensive? "Retarded" personally offends me the most when misused and spoken as an insult. What instantly puts you to sleep? Now that is HARD to do; I have a ridiculously hard time going to sleep. The easiest way though would probably be me being drained from an emotional breakdown. That is so exhausting that I'm capable of crashing pretty fast and hard. What song is in a language you don't speak, but you love it anyway? I adore Rammstein, so there's plenty. I'll probably say "Donaukinder" is their best. What is something you would like to do if you weren’t judged for doing it? I keep that I RP a complete secret in my "real" life for this reason unless it's like, pried out of me. What's a movie you think everyone should watch? Why that one? Johnny Got His Gun. See how goddamn disgusting war is. What was the most unexpected good thing that's ever happened to you? Ha, realizing I was bisexual after once being homophobic. What is the funniest fact you know? Oh man, I know a lot of random trivia shit, really, so it's hard to say. Maybe that quokkas throw their offspring at predators to distract and escape from them... As awful as that is, c'mon, you gotta admit it's funny and shocking with just how adorable they are. What was your 'mic drop' moment? Oh, I don't know. Possibly when I publicly came out as bi on Facebook and made it abundantly clear that I gave no shits about some homophobic friends and family & I was beyond willing to let anyone's ass go over it. What's the kindest way a stranger has treated you? I remember as a kid at McDonald's, the woman in front of our car paid for our food; apparently seeing a mom, dad, and three kids in a van was enough that she wanted to just be kind and give us a smile. We have no idea who she was, never saw her face or anything, she was just a sweet woman. What is the biggest design flaw of your body? Okay, I'm going to let go of all hatred for my body weight-wise and just think of this as from a strictly natural design perspective, in which case I'd say my toes are too small. What age are you afraid of turning and why? 30, because I'm terrified of getting there and seeing I've possibly gone nowhere. What is the strangest thing you have ever felt? I'm keeping this question in just because I think there could be some interesting answers for others, but I'm witholding my answer because nobody wants or needs to know lmao. What makes someone immediately unlikable? Acting better than others and belittling. Who's a villain you sympathize with and why? D A R K I P L I E R because of his origins and overall purpose and just simply existing. What is something you regret to NOT have done? I have this oddly weird regret of not going like, all-all the way with He Who Shall Not Be Named????? Idk why though????? Considering I loved him way too much and I was a reckless and impulsive person who probably at some point would have wound up accidentally pregs????? What a fuckin trip that woulda been. What movie changed your life for the better? None have really "changed my life." What book you think should be directed as a film? Oh, idk. Most I can think of have been. Of all the decades you've lived in, which one have you liked best? The 2000s, probably. A carefree kid. How are you doing today? I'm exhausted. While out with Mom and my sisters yesterday, we got behind a van whose driver was obviously drunk or high off his goddamn ass, and he was swerving EVERYWHERE, nearly shoving so many cars off the road. Mom called 911 to get in contact with highway patrol to report his dumb fucking ass in. I was having an absolute panic attack and cried quietly like the entire 45 or so minute drive home. I was just so, so upset because this is why I don't fucking drive, and I felt like I'd made my sister (who was driving) mad because she had to firmly tell me I had to calm down (I was hyperventilating and talking to myself to try to calm down) if she was going to focus and keep us safe. She later ensured me she wasn't mad, but I still wasn't the same the entire rest of the day. Anyway, I slept hard last night but had two nightmares, so I'm still really tired today. I'm trying to keep myself really distracted. What's something your relatives don't know about you? A whole lot really, considering beyond my very immediate family, I see almost nobody because they live many states away. What's something your parents did, which you have sworn never to do? Mom would spank us or slap an arm pretty hard if my sisters or I misbehaved or "disrespected" her by "talking back." I'm not having kids, but I would never, ever, ever, put my hands on them in any way that isn't loving. You do not teach children via inflicting fear. I also have this probably overly strong aversion to beer because that's what Dad always drank as an alcoholic. I'll probably never try it, not that I really want to because it smells awful. What's the most annoying thing your pet does? I feel like "annoying" is the wrong word for this, but Roman (my cat) can be incredibly demanding of attention and to lie on me when I'm on the laptop in bed, and sometimes I just want space and be able to clearly see the screen, haha. He will legit meow like a baby and gently swat my arm sometimes if I try to keep him back. Heeee usually gets his way. As for Venus (snek), she does nothing "annoying" either, but rather a bit concerning to a snake mom: she is usually very slow to find and strike her food. I feed her frozen/thawed mice, and she will first slither around her entire cage, tongue flicking and clearly looking for her food, even though I always place it atop the same spot on her hide, and she can have her head RIGHT beside it and still do nothing. She ultimately generally eats (as a ball python though, she's a picky eater and will occasionally reject a meal), but I of course wonder why she's odd about dinnertime... As a champagne, she does have the notorious "spider gene" in her, which can cause neurological issues, but idk if something like this could be related.

Celebrity Crush
this has been in my docs for a while and i finally edited it and made it longer OOPS
Word count: 4.1k -ish
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Please?” Skylar pouts “Pretty please, y/n/n?”
You avoided her eyes, knowing damn well you couldn’t resist that look she was giving and was most likely going to give in and say yes.
“I don’t know, Sky…” You hesitated, biting your lower lip “You know all three of his concerts are sold out. I don’t think it’s physically possible at this point”
“Well you’re a famous singer, y/n” Skylar sassed “Can’t you ask Nick to pull some strings with Shawn’s manager? I’ve been wanting to see him live in concert for the longest time!”
“Tone it down with the sass, Skylar” You warned jokingly “Okay, okay! I’ll ask Nick if there’s something he can do but if they say no, then it means no. Okay, princess?”
Skylar squealed, leaning forward and pressed a quick kiss to your cheek before jumping off the couch and running off to the bathroom “Call Nick now! I’m going to take a bubble bath! Thanks y/n, you’re the best sister!”
“I swear to God that 6-year old girl will be the death of me one day” You muttered to yourself as you scrolled through your contacts and immediately found Nick’s number.
“Hello?” Nick answered at the third ring.
“Nick, hi!” You greeted enthusiastically “How are you?”
“Okay kid, what do you need?” He chuckled.
“Why must you assume I need something?” You faked a gasp “Can’t I just call my manager up and ask him how he was doing? Is that so wrong to do?”
“You could but you specifically told said manager that you didn’t want to hear from him for the next 2 weeks you were in London” Nick responded and you rolled your eyes at his sass “So, stop stalling and just spit it out, y/n”
“Fine. I need you to do me favour but know that it’s fine if you can’t make it work, okay? I’m not forcing you to get it done”
 “Okay…?”
“Skylar found out Shawn Mendes is performing in the O2 Arena for three nights” You started off the explanation with a heavy sigh “And that kid is crazy obsessed with his songs and wouldn’t stop bugging me to get tickets. Is there any way you can get your hands on them?”
“That’s it?” Nick asked in disbelief “That’s the big favour you need me to do?”
“Well, it’s a sold-out show for all three nights…” You slowly explained, hoping he understood why it was a huge favour that you were asking “So, how else would we get in?”
Nick snorted, “Sweetheart, I’m going to ignore you just asked that. Shawn’s manager is a friend of mine so I’ll give him a call after I get off the phone with you and see what I can do. Is there anything else you need me to do?”
“You’re the best, Nick!” You exclaimed “That’s all, really. But I do want you to set up a meeting with the team as soon as I’m back in LA. We really need to figure out the tour dates and I want designs of the merch to be ready by then as well”
“Done and done” He immediately replied “I’ll text you with the details later”
After you bid goodbye to him, you stood up and made your way to the bathroom in the suite. You softly knocked on the door and could hear splashes of water coming from the tub “Sky, I’m calling room service for dinner, okay? Speed up on that bubble bath please”
 “Okay!”
You and Skylar were having dinner at the table while watching Princess Diaries on Netflix when your phone beeped. After checking the message, you had a huge grin on your face.
iMessage from Nick the Coolest Manager: Andrew was thrilled when I told him you were interested to go for the concert so he hooked you two up for backstage passes for the 16th April show. Shawn’s looking forward to meeting Skylar.
iMessage to Nick the Coolest Manager: you’re the best!! Skylar is going to freaaaaaak.
“Hey Sky” You called out to her as she turned her head away from the laptop screen to face you with her mouth still stuffed with spaghetti “Guess who’s going to see Shawn in 2 days?” You smirked.
“ARE YOU SERIOUS?!” Skylar asked with a stuffed mouth. She chewed on her food then swallowed it before she let out a squeal “For real? You’re not joking?!”
You shook your head and giggled “No, babe. Nick managed to get us backstage passes”
“Backstage passes?!” Skylar repeated with excitement lingering in her voice “Like I get to meet Shawn? And we’ll be best friends?”
“Hey, now” You rolled your eyes playfully, warning her “I’m your best friend forever, got it? I’m not going to take you if you’re going to replace me for Shawn”
Skylar shook her head instantly “No, I’m sorry! You’re my bestest friend forever!” She pouted as she wrapped her arms around your neck “Thank you sissy! I love you! Tell Nick I said thanks too!”
 “Okay munchkin, finish your food”
 xxx
Connor set his camera down by the table as he entered the green room. Shawn and Brian were sat on the couch; munching on some candies they filled in a plastic bowl while scrolling through their phones.
“Hey” He greeted the two guys as he plops down on the single-chaired couch “Why is the buffet table suddenly filled with so much candies?”
“Shut up, don’t complain!” Brian cried with a mouth full of candy “It’s a beautiful thing”
Connor chuckled and leaned across to steal some from their bowl “’M not. It’s nice to have a little candy sometimes but I could’ve sworn Cez and Andrew banned them because Shawn can’t control his urges and may lose his voice if he eats too much”
“They should probably take these away before that happens” Shawn nodded in agreement but continued to fill his mouth with coloured jelly beans “Andrew told me a little girl and her sister are coming for tonight’s show so they went all out to make sure she’s kept entertained”
“Oh?” Connor’s eyebrows furrowed as he asked “Do you know who she is?”
“Yeah, her name is Skylar” Shawn answered “She’s y/n’s little sister”
When Connor heard your name, he almost choked on the little piece of bean that was still in his mouth.
After swallowing the candy and making sure he didn’t choke, he asked with wide eyes “y/n? She’s coming for your show tonight?”
“Pretty cool, huh?” Shawn grinned “Andrew said she’s here on holiday with her sister. Skylar is a pretty big fan so y/n asked her manager if he could get her tickets to come”
“Interested in y/n, are we Brashier?” Brian smirked “I saw the way you reacted when Shawn mentioned her name”
Connor let out a groan and picked out a coloured bean from the bowl then proceeding to throw it at Brian’s head “Shut the fuck up, Brian”
Shawn grinned at his friend, “So, what? She’s your celebrity crush or something?”
Connor shrugged his shoulders, “I mean, I really like her music” He shyly admitted “Plus, she’s crazy talented, you know? I saw her live once 2 years ago and she was amazing”
“She is” Shawn nodded in agreement “I’m pretty sure I met her at one of the award shows but we never properly introduced ourselves. I’ve listened to her songs, though”
“You’re going to be star-struck aren’t you?” Brian grinned.
“Stop!” Connor whined “We probably won’t even talk or anything. She came here to take her sister to see Shawn remember?”
“Brian!” Cez popped his head into the room “y/n and her sister are almost here. Do you think you can get them from the back door? Andrew and I have some matter with Shawn we need to discuss”
“Oh Cez, I would but I feel like Connor’s more willing to do that” Brian smirked and if looks could kill, Brian would’ve been dead on the spot because of the glares Connor was sending in his way “That’s okay, right?”
Cez rolled his eyes, not knowing what angle Brian was working at “Yeah, doesn’t matter. Con, these are the passes” Cez held up the two backstage passes similar to his and placed them by his camera “You can keep them entertained first and Shawn will be with them in about 15 minutes. Shawn, let’s go and stop eating those jelly beans! Those are meant for Skylar!”
Shawn rolled his eyes, taking a handful of jelly beans as he stood up from his seat “Have fun bonding with y/n” He smirked at Connor before heading towards the door.
Brian snickered at Connor’s face as he stood up “You know I hate you, right?” Connor grumbled as he walked over to the table to grab the passes.
“No, honey! You love me and you’re going to thank me later!” Brian called after him, letting out a loud laugh.
Connor stood outside the door, leaning against the wall as he patiently waited for you. His heart was beating faster than usual; was he really about to meet his celebrity crush? You’d think he was used to meeting famous people after having to work with a few celebrities but none of the ones he’s met before were his celebrity crushes.
A range rover pulled up not too long later and he takes a moment to prepare himself.
Act cool. Don’t freak her out. Don’t be a crazy fan. She doesn’t need that right now.
Her little sister jumped out of the back seat first followed by her. Connor was in awe now that he was seeing you up close. You looked amazing from the photos he’s seen and if it was possible, you looked even more stunning in real life to him. Never would he thought in a million years he would get to meet you.
When they got nearer to him, he puts on a huge smile “Hey there! y/n and Skylar, right?” He asks politely.
“That’s us” You nodded in confirmation “And you are…?”
“I’m Connor Brashier” He introduced himself and held his hand out for her to shake “I’m here to bring you and Skylar in the building”
“Oh, hi Connor” You smiled at him, accepting his handshake “Sky, say hi to Connor”
 “Hi Connor!” Skylar grinned.
“So, these are for you” He passed the backstage passes to you and Skylar “Just keep them on you at all times so security knows you’re allowed backstage”
“Right. Afraid of fans sneaking in huh?” You teased as you and Skylar followed him into the building.
Connor turns to face you for a second, “Well, it’s never happened before but knowing Shawn’s fans, I’m not surprise if it does” He chuckled.
Skylar held onto your hand tightly as Connor continued to lead you down the hallway. Once he stopped in front of the green room, he was surprised to see that the door was left open and Brian was nowhere to be seen.
He turned around to face you once again “Shawn’s in a discussion with Andrew right now so I hope it’s fine that you have to wait in here”
“Oh, we don’t mind!” You smiled in respond.
Connor stepped aside and let the two of you walk into the room. “Skylar, we’ve got some candies for you at the buffet table” He told her, who’s eyes instantly light up at the word candy. Skylar lets go of your hand as she ran over to the table to look at the different variety of candies just for her while you went to sit down on the couch.
“Oh God, she’s going to be an energetic bunny later” You chuckled to yourself as you watch her fill up the bowl with different candies. Connor offered you a bottled water, which you accepted with a smile “Thank you, Connor”
“She’s going to need that energy for the show later” Connor stated as he went back to the couch he sat earlier “She must be excited to see him, huh?” He asked with a grin.
“Oh, you have no idea” You rolled your eyes with a smile, indicating you were being playful “She has been listening to his songs on repeat for the past two days and screaming her lungs out”
Connor chuckled in reply, “She is going to have the time of her life”
Skylar returned with a bowl in her hands as she sat next to you. Her mouth was already filled with candy as you gave her a look of disapproval “I’m limiting your candy intakes, missy”
“No!” Skylar whined “They prepared this for me, y/n! It would be rude of me to not eat it!”
“You should listen to your sister, sweetheart” Connor insisted “Plus, a lot of candies isn’t too good for you, you know? Shawn almost lost his voice when he had a bit too much”
 Skylar huffed dramatically “Okay”
“Atta girl” You chuckle softly before turning to Connor “I’m going to assume you work with Shawn?” You asked politely.
“Yeah,” He responded instantly “I’m his videographer. I do take photos around here from time to time but Josiah handles most of them”
“Oh! That’s really cool” You nod “So, how long have you been on tour?”
“We started off with Amsterdam a month ago and London’s our last stop for the European tour” Connor explained “Then we’re on a short break before the North America tour kicks in”
You nodded, twisting the cap open as you took a few sips of water. Connor takes this opportunity to start a conversation with the little girl “So Skylar, what are you excited to listen to tonight?”
“Lost in Japan! I love dancing to it” Skylar giggled in response “Wanna see?”
He nodded without hesitation as he took his phone out to search for the song in his playlist “Show me your moves, little one”
Skylar hops off the couch, placing the bowl on the table. You smiled after her as she prepared her choreography for the beginning of the song. You loved watching her dance; she has been dancing since she was 3 and your family was 110% sure she was going to grow up to be a professional dancer.
When the music plays, Skylar just gets lost in the flow; very much like her older sister when it comes to singing.
“She is really good” Connor noted as he continued to watch Skylar dance mid-song  “How old is she anyways?”
“6” You answered “But she’s been dancing since she was 3. It kinda runs in the blood, I guess. My mom was a dancer too”
 He nodded, “Makes sense”
When the song is over, you and Connor cheered loudly for Skylar as she bowed jokingly.
“Hi! I’m so sorry to keep you waiting!” Shawn apologized as he rushed into the room. He flashed a smile to you and Skylar “y/n, Skylar, so nice to finally meet you!”
You mirrored his smile and nodded “It’s nice to meet you too, Shawn! Heard too much about you already”
It takes a few seconds for Skylar to unfreeze in her position. She blinks her eyes at him, and asks “Can I please hug you?”
That made the three adults laugh while Shawn nodded happily “Yeah, of course, honey” as he squads down and opened his arms so the little girl could fall into his embrace.
Connor stood up from his seat and sent an apologetic look to you. Skylar has Shawn occupied at the moment as the little girl continues to ramble to him, not that he minds or anything “I should really get back to work. I’ve got some videos to edit” He said before adding “I hope you and Skylar have fun watching the concert”
You held back a frown, just because you were starting to enjoy his company and hoped he would stay a little longer with you.
“Yeah, that’s fine” You reassured with a smile forming on your lip “Will I see you later in action?”
Connor was taken aback by her question and managed to stutter out “Yeah... I’ll come see you and Skylar later in between songs”
You grinned, “That’s a promise, yeah? I’m counting on you to keep it”
“Of course,” He nodded before giving you one final wave. He passed Shawn and Skylar to head towards the door so he bid the little girl goodbye too “Bye Skylar! It was nice meeting you!”
 “Bye Connor!”
 xxx
You knew you should’ve paid more attention to the concert but you kept glancing at Connor’s direction whenever he stood nearby you and Skylar to get shots of Shawn at different angles.
You only met him a few hours ago and you barely knew him, but somehow you were already interested in him? Was this normal? Or was something wrong with you?
But then again, you couldn’t deny how good-looking he is. And something inside of you wanted to get to know him.
Connor noticed the little glances you were giving him but he chose to ignore it. It’s probably nothing He thought to himself There’s no specific reason why she’s looking in my way. Get over yourself.
There was an intermittent break in the middle of the show before Shawn moved to stage B. At that point, Skylar decides to throw you off-guard.
“Why are you looking at Connor?” The little girl asked curiously, not even bothered to be subtle about it.
“What?” You lied smoothly, hoping it was convincing enough for a little girl “I was not looking at Connor, honey”
The little girl rolls her eyes, “I’m not stupid, y/n. Every time I look at you, I see you looking at Connor’s direction. Do you like him?”
“Okay no. 1, you’re 6. That means no swearing, and that includes stupid” You warned “And no. 2 missy; I don’t like Connor. I don’t even know him”
She mumbled out a quick ‘sorry’ before proceeding to switching to the subject of Connor “You don’t have to know him to like him, silly! It’s called love at first sight, duh. Remember Anna and Kristoff?”
You held back a laughter as you shook your head “You should definitely stop watching all those Disney movies, Sky. Real life isn’t always like that”
Skylar chose to ignore your remark as she asked excitedly “You should ask him out! We can go to the park tomorrow and feed the ducks!”
“Sky, I am not asking him out!” You said in a hushed tone “We can still go to the park if that’s what you want, though”
“Hey!” Connor greeted as he came over to the barricade. You smiled at him instantly, failing to see the mischievous grin on Skylar’s face “How’re you enjoying the concert so far?”
“Really good!” You exclaimed before looking down at Skylar “Right Sky?”
“Mhmmm” The little girl hummed before she tilted her head to look at you “But I don’t think y/n was paying that much attention to the concert, Connor… She kept looking at you”
At that moment, you felt like you wanted to crawl into a hole and die.
“Skylar Rose!” You yelled out in embarrassment while you felt your cheeks start to heat up “I was not!”
Connor was blushing too because Skylar confirmed for him that it was no accident when he noticed you looking in his direction. Also judging by the way you’re reacting; he had a feeling Skylar wasn’t just teasing her sister for fun.
Skylar shrugged her shoulders nonchalantly “It’s the truth, sis. I’m going to sit for a bit, okay? I’m kinda tired” She said before walking a few steps back to where chairs were provided in the VIP booth.
You knew damn well she was far from tired and that she only used that as an excuse to leave you alone with Connor.
“I’m so sorry” You apologized instantly to Connor, a shy smile forming on your face “I honestly don’t know what that little girl is thinking sometimes. She doesn’t filter her words all the time”
Connor waved you off with a smile on his face to show you that he wasn’t bothered by it “’S cool… So,” He dragged out before a smirk formed on his face “You were looking at me, huh?”
You let out a groan “I can’t believe she put me on the spot like that. That kid is going to be the death of me one day”
“If it helps… I keep coming to this area so I could look at you too” He said shyly “I mean it’s not every day you get to meet your celebrity crush”
 Oh well that’s some news.
“Sorry, I’m your what?” You stuttered out “So you already knew who I was ever since we met outside?”
“Yeah” Connor nodded then laughing a little at the fact that a famous singer like you could think he didn’t know who you were “And of course I knew who you were y/n. I go on the internet and I hear your songs on the radio. I don’t live under a rock, you know” He teased.
“You just seemed very chill when we met” You commented “I just assumed you didn’t know”
“No celebrities want people to go crazy on them, obviously” He rolled his eyes playfully “We wouldn’t even be talking this much if I reacted differently when we met”
 “Fair point” You nodded.
“I went to your concert about 2 years ago” Connor added “Wasn’t the best seats in the stadium but I still had the time of my life. You sound amazing live”
You blushed at his words. You’d think having to hear that sort of compliments often started to mean nothing after a while. But to you, every time you hear people’s kind words, it still hits you that you’re not actually living a fantasy and you were blessed to be given the opportunity to do what you really love.
“Thank you, Connor” You smiled in response “It’s really nice to hear that. Sometimes, you focus too much on the negative comments and all you need is that one positive comment to keep going”
He nodded understandingly “Forget the negative ones… It’s the little things that matter, right?” He smiled.
 “Right”
“I should go” Connor lifted the camera in his hand as an indication “He’s going on in like 3 minutes and I have to sprint to the area of the giant rose now. I just wanted to see check up on you two to see if everything was okay” He added.
“Go,” You insisted, smiling “We’re fine, Connor”
He turned to leave, and you hesitated for a second; biting your lower lip. Now or never, right?
“Hey Connor?” You called out to him and he spun on his heels, confusion written all over his face. You motioned for him to come closer and once he did, you took your phone out and bravely handed it to him “You up for a walk in the park tomorrow? Skylar wants to go duck feeding”
He looked at your phone then to your face, and you don’t miss the way he was caught off guard by your offer. If someone told him a year ago that he would be in this situation with you, he probably would’ve asked them to sign themselves up in a mental hospital. Because honestly, when would he be given the opportunity to meet someone like you?
 “I, uhm-,”
You quickly cut him off with a smile “You seem like a pleasant man, Connor, and I feel like we could get to know each other and be friends?”
“Yeah,” He nodded slowly as it was sinking in his mind that this was actually happening. He took the phone from your hand “I’d really like to get to know you too, y/n”
Connor types in his number quickly and saved his contact under his full name so it was easier for you to find him through your contacts. He handed your phone back to you “The number I gave is my US number but feel free to call me on Facetime/WhatsApp”
“Gotcha” You nodded in confirmation “I’ll see you after the show?”
“After the show” He confirmed before running off quickly because Shawn was about to go on in any second.
“You did it!” Skylar cheered as she came up behind you and wrapped her arms around your waist “You asked him out”
“Because you put me on the spot first, peanut!” You answered defensively, ruffling her hair a little “No more of that, okay?”
“Sure, y/n. Whatever you say” She grinned mischievously “I really like him! He’s nice”
You smiled “He is, isn’t he?”

Julie enjoyed this new darkness they were getting. She’d never thought something like this could happen but it seemed like White Crest was a strange town indeed. Still, she was going to take advantage of this anyway she could. Starting with being a complete terror to the people of White Crest. She’d jump down from a tree and scream at them or just snatch whatever she could out of their hands and run. People didn’t seem to be too mindful of their belongings yet. She was sure that would change the longer this night lasted. Still, nothing worked up an appetite like being a complete pest. She went on the hunt for food, sniffing around. Julie had no idea what time it was nor how long she’d been out here in the street. You would think they’d call animal control on her but given she could cloak herself in the shadows, she doubted they saw much of her. As she followed a scent, she heard the sound of a school bell ring. All that stood between her and some food was an iron fence. All it took was a squeeze of her head through the bars and the rest followed. As she padded along the school grounds, she encountered a human. She kept close to the shadows not showing herself just yet. Still, it was clear this woman had food. Maybe she could steal a bite? She crept closer, nose sniffing the air. She was so caught up in the smell that she didn’t realize she was in the light. That is not until she caught movement and froze.
Setting her lunch out on her usual picnic table just outside the courtyard, Skylar took a bite of her pork chops, letting out a sigh. It was odd, not having the sound of kids playing at recess surrounding her. Instead, all of the children were inside at the library today. The principal figured that it would be safer than letting the kids run around and blind themselves with flashlights, and she couldn’t blame her. Cutting into her pork chop with her knife, she glanced around. She wasn’t as affected by the darkness as much as she had thought, which was… weird. She could see reasonably well, all things considered. Just the light of her phone was enough for her to see most things. Ugh. Must be a… selkie thing. As she took another bite, she caught a bit of movement to her right and blinked in surprise. “Oh. Huh, look at you,” Skylar said with a smile at the black fox that was staring back at her. “Hey there. You must be confused by all the darkness too.”
Julie continued to sniff the air, but kept her distance not wanting to get close. However the girl didn’t seem to back away in fear. It was weird the way some people would talk to her in fox form. It was like she was a child! Fuck them. She wasn’t a baby. Julie could smell the meat though and had half a mind to jump on the table and snatch it. She’d probably be able to do it quicker than the girl would be to react. Her throat rumbled with soft bark as she started to pace around the area, keeping her eyes on the girl, not wanting her to try anything. Give me the damn meat. Maybe she could scare her into leaving her food on the table and she can get a bite. Or two.
Skylar laughed as the fox began to bar at her and held her hands up innocently. “Okay, okay. Don’t mind me. I’m just having my lunch.” She said with a smile before taking another bite of her porkchop. Looking around in the darkness while she chewed, Skylar gestured to the empty playground around her. “How’d you manage to get in here anyways? There must be a hole in the fence or something.” She said. Maybe she should let the janitor know about that. If a fox could get in here, an intrepid kindergartener could probably make the same kind of escape attempt. Wiping her mouth with a napkin, she glanced at the fox, that was still staring at her as t paced. “You okay there?” She asked, a bit amused.
Julie let out a louder whine, unsure why this girl was talking to her as if she could talk back! She just wanted the food. She whined and continued to pace, wondering what to do. If she attacked she might take the food with her! And Julie wanted it. Whatever it was, it smelled good. She sniffed, tentatively coming closer to her, unable to keep her whining any quieter as she was getting irritated.
As the fox continued to whine and pace, Skylar tilted her head confused. Was something wrong with it? She wasn’t super sure what she could do if there was something wrong with the fox. How was she going to help it? Maybe call that French animal control guy? But, as it began to move closer, Skylar could see its head tilting to glance at her food. Ahhhh. It probably wanted some of her porkchop. “You want my lunch, don’t you?” She said with a tentative smile. Letting out a sigh, she glanced down at what was still left of her lunch. She’d eaten most of the first pork chop, but there was still a good amount of meat left on the bone. Picking it up, she held it up before gently tossing it on the ground, not wanting to startle the fox too much. “Here, you can have that.”
Julie perked up at the offer of her lunch waiting to see what she gave her. At the toss of something she backed up, almost running away, having been startled but quickly recovered and reached for it, trying to figure out what it was. A bone but there was some meat. She let it fall out of her mouth before she laid down and held it up between her paws as she started to gnaw on the meat that was left. Oh it was so good. Much better than Julie thought it was gonna be. As she chewed, the content growls in her throat came out involuntarily and not ones she would be proud to admit to as a person but being a fox was different than being a human (the former being much better).
When the fox started backwards, Skylar gave an apologetic wince. She hadn’t meant to make it freak out. But, when it began to eat, she couldn’t help but smile wider at it. Aw. It liked the food. Which, honestly shouldn’t flatter her that much, it’s just an animal. But hey, at least someone else liked her cooking. As the fox gnawed on the bone, Skylar continued to eat her food. “Where did you even come from, anyways? We’re not all that close to the forests.” She said out loud, trying to figure out where the fox would have popped up from. Or was it like… an urban fox? It didn’t seem bothered in the slightest by people, so that might be it.
Julie continued to gnaw on the bone, cleaning it completely of the meat and whatever else that was attached. Her eyes looked up at the girl as she heard her talk but didn’t bother to listen so closely. Why is she talking to me? Then again Julie could have just taken the bone and run off with it but maybe this girl had more to give and Julie wasn’t about to say no. There was a loud crunch as Julie’s jaws managed to break the bone. Opened it up to the good stuff. Soon enough she was finishing up with her bone and stood up, licking her snout and looking expectantly at the girl eating her lunch.
Watching as the fox continued to munch on the bone, Skylar laughed. It was cute, in a way, to have some company for lunch. She’d always eaten alone, too self conscious of her all meat lunches to ever really feel comfortable around other people, even her coworkers. They’d been nothing but kind to her, but she still didn’t want to do anything too out of the ordinary around them. The fox seemed to have finished gnawing on the bone and was staring at her with big eyes, as though it was saying, More please. “Give me a second to finish up this one and you can have the bone. Sound good?” She said with a smile.
Julie waited to be noticed and once she was acknowledged, her ears perked up. Although it wasn’t what she wanted to hear. Whines rumbled in her throat at the mention of waiting. She wanted it now! Julie took closer steps with her front paws, keeping her hind legs in the same place, stretching herself as a louder whine erupted from her mouth before her hind legs snapped closer to her as she finished stretching. Give it, she wanted to say but unfortunately couldn’t in her fox form. Instead she whined some more and pawed at the air in frustration.
Skylar grinned as she watched the fox stretch and whine, pawing at the air. “You’re a little beggar, you know that right? I’m almost done. Patience is a virtue, after all.” She said, waggling her fork at the fox with a fake stern expression on her face. Glancing at her watch, she nodded to herself. She still had a decent amount of time left. But, in the interest of not making her new lunchmate wait too long, she decided to speed things up. Sawing through the remaining chunk of meat, she seperated the bone from the rest of her pork chop-- making sure to leave a generous piece on the bone. “Here you go.” She said, holding it out for the fox to take.
Julie did not want to wait and was quick to snatch the piece from her hand. Another time she would have hated taking food from someone’s hand but it was meat and bone and all the other good stuff so she wasn’t going to be especially picky. She quickly went to town on the bone, settling closer to the human, too caught up in her meal to even realize. Once again, the noises that came from her throat as she ate were completely out of her control as she happily crushed the bone in her mouth, little bits falling out. She didn’t care at all about how it looked.
Watching as the fox neared the edge of her table, Skylar finished up the last of her food and slid the lid of her tupperware back on. The little fox seemed to be happy with her offering of pork chop bones, and as it stepped closer, she was able to see some more of the details of its fur. It was surprising that its coat was so dark, but she wasn’t terribly familiar with animals in general. So, sure. Maybe foxes came in that color. Or maybe it was a White Crest thing, who knows? Glancing at her watch, Skylar sighed. “I’ve got to get back to work. But, it was very nice hanging out with you, fox friend.” She said with a small wave.
At the movement Julie took the bone and moved back, a soft growl rumbling in her throat until she realized she was just getting up to go somewhere and not to grab the bone back. Frozen, she just stood there with the bone in her mouth, eyes moving to look up at her, but unable to wave back (not that she really would if she could). Julie didn’t even want to show any form of gratitude… at least not yet. Maybe she would if she saw her again. The girl was pretty enough. Julie could be “nice”. Nice… Julie wasted no time darting back to where she came from once the girl got up. She had got what she wanted.

Drunk On You | Shiloh & Skylar
Shiloh arrived a little earlier for the reservation. Was it rude to drink a bit before hand? No, of course not. It took a lot for Shiloh to get drunk anyway so what was the harm? She held her liquor very well. But why was she nervous. It had to be the clothes. Let’s not talk about what she had to do to get these nice clothes but it was good to bring them out every so often right? As Shiloh tugged on the collar of her black blouse, maybe it was a sign to take it out more often. Instead, she waited at her table for Skylar, drinking wine glass after wine glass as she tried to comfort her nerves by running the palm of her hand up and down her velvet suit. She can’t even remember when she bought this but could recall she bought the two-piece solely for the velvet feel. However, it was a dark burgundy and she felt it fit the color theme of Valentine’s Day? Oh god what if Skylar thought she looked like a fool. As the time of the reservation neared, she realized, the wine she purchased looked like it was being drunk from so she quickly had it replaced as well as a new glass. Just in time too because she spotted Skylar being ushered to their table. She stood on her feet immediately, able to feel warmth on her cheeks (maybe it was the alcohol). Her own concerns fell as she saw Skylar, instead focused on how nice she looked. “You look incredible,” Shiloh spoke out first with a huge grin on her face before realizing it was spoken aloud. She cleared her throat and took her suit. “So, uh, how was your day?”
Skylar felt very, very out of her element as she stepped into the Artesian. Not only was it because of the fact she was wearing an outfit she’d literally never worn before-- she’d bought it once on a whim, just because she really liked the look of the red pants-- but because this bar was some place that her parents would have gone to back home. It was so far out of her current comfort level.”Hi, um, I’m here with Shiloh? Kent?” She said to the person waiting expectantly in the entryway. Rubbing the back of her neck with her good arm, Skylar glanced down at what she thought had been a nice white collared shirt, the top two buttons left open with the sleeves rolled up to her elbows. But everyone else here was dressed much better than her. Oh god. This was-- before she could second guess too much, she found herself being escorted to a table where Shiloh was already waiting. Her neck burned hotly at Shiloh’s compliment and she offered a slightly awkward smile. “Ah. Thank you. You look really nice too. That’s a very cool suit, I could never pull something like that off.” She said earnestly. It suited Shiloh far better than it would her. “Oh. Um, it was really good! Lots of Valentines day excitement, but the kids were pretty nice.” Skylar sat down across the table from the other woman before nodding, “The flowers you sent me were beautiful. Thank you.”
Shiloh chuckled, happy she liked the suit. Why was her face so hot? “I’m sure you could pull it off.” She looked down at her outfit. It was just a suit anyway and Skylar looked really pretty in what she was wearing now. “Oh um, I’m glad you liked it. I didn’t know if you liked flowers or sweets but I remembered you mentioning you can’t eat gluten and I don’t know if chocolate has gluten so I decided something that wasn’t food would work.” She smiled after her small rant, hoping it didn’t sound weird. “My mother told me you seemed to like it but I wanted to hear it from you. Did you like the teddy bear? I didn’t know if you like that sort of stuff.” It seems she was to learn a lot about Skylar and she couldn’t wait to learn. Shiloh then remembered what they were both here for. To drink. “Oh, I got some wine for the table. Do you want me to pour you a glass?” Did Skylar care about the details of the wine? Shiloh didn’t. Alcohol was just alcohol most of the time.
Smiling, Skylar nodded at the mention of the surprise Valentine’s gift. It was really sweet of Shiloh to think of her, particularly her dietary… quirks. “Thank you, really. Most people don’t remember that I can’t eat a lot of things, it was nice to get something that I could actually enjoy.” She said before blushing bright red. She’d been more than a little flustered to not only have gotten a gift, but to also have gotten it in front of Shiloh’s mom. That hadn’t been an awkward explanation at all. “I, um, yes. I really liked it.” She said, “And the teddy bear was very cute. I know people sometimes think they’re cliche, but I think little plush things like that are adorable.” Looking at the bottle of wine, Skylar’s eyebrows shot up at the label. She’d seen a bottle of this in her parent’s wine cooler and her father was a big wine guy. “Wait. I-- Yes, but. That’s… a very expensive bottle of wine. You-- You didn’t need to get that.” She said, a touch guilty. It was a good thing that she hadn’t eaten dinner. Hopefully, that would help her get tipsy at a more normal rate. The last thing she wanted to do was look like she was some kind of weirdo just, chugging super expensive wine.
“I pay attention to what you say, Skye.” Shiloh responded with a smile. It was just what Shiloh did, listened to other people. Yeah, Skylar was a little different because she didn’t want to ruin things with her but she listened to her all the same. “Oh so you like plushes?” She asked with no judgement just happy to learn something new. “Jiji is a plush himself, furry and thick.” She chuckled to herself as she reached out to the bottle, hesitating only when Skylar spoke up. “Oh, my friend recommended it. I didn’t know what wine you liked. I can ask for them to bring us another one?” Although everything here was expensive so it would be difficult finding something reasonable.
“Ah. Thanks.” Skylar beamed-- oh god, was she smiling too much? Or would it be weird if she wasn’t? Oh dear… Pulling herself from her worried thoughts, she instead focused on what Shiloh was saying. “Mhm, I do. Jiji honestly looks like one, you’re right. If he sat really still, he might even look like the cat toy in the movie.” She said with a laugh. Glancing at the bottle, Skylar’s fingers fidgeted a bit before she forced herself to keep still. Nope, nope, no, this was fine and okay. She’d just have to put her part of the check on her card and hope for the best. “Mm. I’m not really a wine connoisseur, anything’s fine. You’ve already opened it, I’d hate to let it go to waste. I was just, um, surprised. I knew this place was fancy but…” Her voice trailed off awkwardly as she gestured to the very upscale environment around them, “I’m not super used to places like this anymore.”
Shiloh laughed, thinking about Jiji as a plush. “He’d be a really big and heavy plush. But still so cute.” She wondered what he must be doing now. Sleeping probably. Shiloh didn’t dwell on her cat however, she had someone more interesting in front of far. Although she feared she had already ruined things. “It’s fine,” she reached for the bottle, pulling it closer. “They already have my card on file - and before you say anything, I invited you here. It’s on me. We can save this one for later and get other drinks if you prefer.” She didn’t want to admit that she had already been drinking beforehand but now she was wishing she had drank more because she still felt nervous. “Wait, did you say you’re not used to places like this anymore? Do you have a secret past bartending in fancy places?” She knew the wine was expensive off the bat, there had to be something there.
“Incredibly so, on all counts,” Skylar replied with another grin. Watching as Shiloh moved the bottle, her body language just a tad nervous, she realized just how awkward she was making this. Shiloh had already bought the bottle, part of it was already gone, it was clear that she knew what she was buying-- hearing that the other woman would be paying for it was news to her, but what’s done’s done. Reaching out, she lightly touched Shiloh’s hand. “It’s okay. Sorry. I was just surprised. I’ve never really,” Skylar paused, realizing that she would sound like an idiot if she admitted never having gone on a date before, “gotten the hang of the whole, who pays for what, etiquette thing.” Nailed it. To make sure Shiloh understood that she meant it, Skylar poured what she hoped was a reasonable amount of wine into her glass and took a measured sip. Glancing over the rim of her glass, she set the glass down and shook her head. “No, no, nothing like that.” She said, her fingers playing with the stem of her wine glass. “My parents were very into wine. They liked to go to places like this a lot, and bring me and my siblings.” She explained. It was always a little weird talking about her family-- most of the time, she just avoided it. But, Shiloh had asked and she would have felt bad about avoiding the question.
“Oh, is that really what you’re stressing about?” Shiloh asked, feeling her nerves fade away. “That’s cute. Don’t worry, I wouldn’t have even suggested a place like this if I thought you were gonna spend a dime. Not that I think you can’t afford it! Just… it’s expensive and I suggested it. I wouldn’t throw that on you.” Shiloh had more money than she needed. If she wanted to spend it on this then, it honestly wouldn’t be a problem. “Before you say anything, I can afford this. This is as much for me as it is for you. If I wanted to drink something cheap I’d have gone to another bar or drank at home.” Shiloh smiled, hoping Skylar would understand. Sure, maybe part of her wanted to show she had money but she truly didn’t want to buy anything cheap and nothing here was cheap! “That and… I wanted to spend some time with you. I, uh, I missed hanging out with you.” Shiloh glanced away with a smile having to adjust her glasses hoping they wouldn’t fog up. She decided to channel her nerves into pouring herself a glass. “They took you to places like this as a kid?” Shiloh asked for clarification as she took a sip “You don’t mean bars right? Just nice places?” Her parents were never into that sort of thing. Maybe that’s where she got it from. “So you said you had a brother and sister right? What are they like? Do you live with them here?”
Lips pressing together slightly at the words, “that’s cute,” Skylar pulled her hand back into her lap. Was Shiloh being condescending? Even though this was a nice bar and wasn’t as nearly as loud as some of the other places around town, tone was always difficult for her to place. But, the other woman had been nothing but kind to her in the past, so she probably didn’t mean it that way. Hopefully. “I see. Well, thank you for inviting me.” She said with a soft smile. But again, the words were confusing her. Hanging out? Had she misinterpreted what this was? She had assumed– she shouldn’t have assumed anything. Oh god. Taking a longer sip from her glass, Skylar nodded. “I, um, I’m sorry for being a little out of it. I was just,” She wracked her brain, trying to remember what all she had said to Shiloh during her brain fog last week, “Not feeling the best. But your messages were really sweet.” She added. “Ah. Sorry, I meant super upscale places. They did take us to a vineyard once.” She said with a slight shrug, the motion making her shoulder twinge, a reminder her of her not entirely healed stitches. “No, my sister lives in Seattle and my brother is at UC Berkeley. I can show you a picture, if you’d like” She offered.
“It’s okay, really.” Shiloh reassured. “You were busy and that’s fine. I just missed you.” Did she really admit to that? Shiloh went for her drink, her eyes turning down to look at her glass and away from Skylar. She felt oddly warm. God, Skylar’s gonna think she’s really weird isn’t she? Shiloh drank some more to try and get her mind off it. “A vineyard? That sounds really nice. I’ve never been to one. I wonder if there’s any nearby. Maybe we can go to one together.” Shiloh suggested her eyes looking over at Skylar, hopeful. At the offer of a picture of her siblings, Shiloh was curious. “A picture is fine, yeah.” She smiled, feeling honored to see a picture of her siblings.
“Ah… Okay.” Skylar said, brain still a little muddled and confused by all of this. Maybe she was just reading too much into things. If Shiloh said she missed her, then Skylar was inclined to believe her. And… it honestly was kinda nice. To feel missed. Or maybe it just felt nice to know that someone else was thinking about her. “I was 13 at the time, so it really wasn’t that fun for me. But, um, if you’re interested in wine, they’re a good place to learn about how places go through the process of making and aging their stuff.” She nodded, drawing back on nearly decade old memories of a place she’d been bored out of her mind at. With a smile, Skylar pulled out her phone and entered the password. “There’s Bri, Hunter, and me.” Skylar said, showing Shiloh her home screen. It was one of her favorite photos, the three of them looking frustrated over a 1,500 piece puzzle that their mom had insisted would “bring the family together” and “build character.” Bri in the foreground, looking blonde and perfect and only slightly annoyed, Hunter just behind her holding up two identical looking pieces with a pained expression on his face, and herself, looking fairly normal. It had been one of her good days when the photo had been taken. It had been over a year since the photo had been taken, she realized. Wow. Wow, this was NOT the time to think about that. Focusing back on Shiloh, she let out an awkward laugh, “We’re not puzzle people.”
“Well, maybe you’ll have fun going with me?” Shiloh wondered out loud, but didn’t meet Skylar’s eyes. Instead she looked at the picture of her and her siblings. It looked really nice. Normal. Shiloh knew she had pictures with her foster siblings but none of them were ever… permanent. She remembered that bothered her a lot growing up. She didn’t understand why her friends would have to leave. It really made her learn to appreciate the time she had with people, but be a little wary that they too, were temporary. “Did you guys ever finish the puzzle?” She asked, giving the photo one more lingering look, her eyes on Skylar in the photo before turning up to look at her. She leaned back into her seat, drinking more of her wine, which pulled her mind to it. “Do you like the wine by the way? I know it’s not sweet.” Shiloh didn’t mind if alcohol was sweet or not, but she hoped Skylar wasn’t just drinking the wine just to drink it. Hopefully she liked it, just a little bit? Either way, they probably would not be having this glass of wine in the near future.
Shiloh’s question came as Skylar was mid-sip, and she pulled the glass away from herself quickly enough to prevent spilling/choking on the red wine. In a place like this? That would have been mortifying. Collecting herself, Skylar replied, “I’d probably like it a lot more, mhm.” Wine didn’t really matter to her, but another opportunity to spend time with Shiloh sounded really nice, honestly. Putting her phone away, she smiled, “We did, only because Hunter got really in the zone with it. By the end, Bri and I were just watching him do his thing while we ate snacks. But, we had fun.” At the question about the wine, Skylar tilted her head in a non-committal manner. The wine she typically drank came in $5 bottles from the local supermarket. Not from a place like this. “It’s very nice. But, if you’re not enjoying it, I don’t mind switching to something different.” Leaning forward, Skylar looked around carefully, “To be super honest with you… I really don’t get the whole wine appreciation thing. I just think it tastes nicer than liquor.”
Shiloh smiled and nodded her head, unable to say anything as she nodded because she was too happy Skylar admitted to it. She rubbed at the thigh comfortingly under the table, feeling a little giddy at all this. She believed Skylar when she had told her she enjoyed hanging out with her before but to hear it said aloud... It was different. Shiloh wasn’t sure anything could take the smile on her face away. “You just let him do all the work,” Shiloh chuckled at that. “That’s funny.” It must have been nice growing up with them. She wondered if Skylar missed them but decided not to ask that. The question would come in time. “It’s fine, it’s not bad at all.” She took another sip to show, her glass more empty than full now. “I’m not that picky with my alcohol. I’ll drink beer or wine. Whatever I’m in the mood for. I like spirits too but I only get them when I’m at a bar. I don’t keep any at home. What kind do you prefer?” She asked leaning forward, completely interested in whatever Skylar had to say.
“It’s just kinda how my brother is-- when he gets going, it’s best to let him just go for it and wait for him to either finish his project or get too frustrated to continue.” Skylar explained before finishing her glass of wine. Though it was of a much higher quality than she was used to, the wine wasn’t really doing much in the way of getting her drunk. At best, she felt a very mild buzz. Hoping it wasn’t too presumptuous of her, she poured herself another glass. “We’re all a little like that, just about different things. I guess that’s what happens when engineers raise you.” She said with a laugh.“Mmm. I really don’t keep much alcohol either. Wine and beer are both fine. Of liquor, I guess I like vodka? It’s light and mixes well with pretty much anything, so you don’t even have to taste it.” Skylar was mostly just glad that drinks weren’t off the table for her frustratingly narrow diet.
“Oh, I see.” Shiloh wondered if her siblings would ever come visit her. She’d like to meet them. Oh my god, they just met a while back and she wanted to meet the family. Shiloh needed to relax. “Your parents are engineers? Oh wow.” Shiloh had vaguely considered that career path - and by considered she looked it up and thought that’d be nice before realizing it wasn’t likely and moved on. It was too much school. “Vodka? Yeah it’s not bad when it’s mixed in with drinks. I’ve made the mistake of drinking just straight vodka.” Shiloh smiled as she leaned back into her seat, recalling the event. “I was like 15? And drank from a cup at the counter. It was vodka. I thought I drank rubbing alcohol and was gonna die. My dad came in cause I was yelling and when I told him what happened he just about died laughing.” Shiloh shook her head and reached for her glass again, not finishing it but still moving to poor herself some more. “Every time I taste vodka I think back to that moment. So yeah, I prefer my vodka drinks mixed very well.”
“Yup. They’re computer science engineers, they do very important stuff.” She said. Wait, did that sound too snarky? It wasn’t meant to-- not totally. Skylar really hoped Shiloh didn’t pick up on that. “You were fifteen?” She couldn’t help the note of incredulity in her voice. She hadn’t even dared to drink until she was well into her sophomore year of college, and that had been at the first and only college party she’d ever been to. “Oh my god, that’s hilarious,” Skylar laughed, shaking her head, “I’m sorry for laughing, but I get why your dad reacted that way. Aw. I can only imagine how awful it must have been for you.” She said and took another drink from her glass. Maybe it was the company, maybe it was the laughter, or maybe it was just the fact she was drinking on an empty stomach, but Skylar was feeling much less nervous about all this now, “Well. You don’t need to drink vodka straight anymore. There are much better drinks that can be made with it.”
“Cooool,” Shiloh drawled, wondering what it must have been like. Computers were interesting but Shiloh never got that far with them. Besides she never wanted anything for the money, just what she liked and what worked for her parents. Her parents were always supportive which made it even harder to figure out. “It was nasty. I didn’t drink until I was legal after that. Even then it wasn’t a lot. I’ve never been much of a drinker. I’ve only gotten drunk once,” Shiloh said, putting her finger up to emphasize it. “It wasn’t pretty.” She looked down, her smile actually fading. She reached for her drink once more. “Mm! Do you know how to make any drinks?” Maybe she could make some for her. She looked at Skylar. She was so pretty - even more so when she was smiling. Wow. Shiloh’s smile returned as she kept her gaze on Skylar.
“That makes a lot of sense, honestly.” Skylar said, suddenly remembering that Shiloh was in fact British. Which meant fifteen probably wasn’t that big of a deal when the legal drinking age was eighteen. “Ah, really? It takes a lot for me to get drunk, so I’m a bit unlucky. I just have a high tolerance. But, on the bright side, it means I don’t suffer through hangovers either.” She said honestly. It was cute how Shiloh gestured, though the way her face fell at the memory was a bit sad. It must have been a rough time. “Mm, not really. Just simple ones, that require like… ice and a mixer or two. Since it takes a lot for me to feel anything, I never really bothered to learn.” She said with a shrug. A slight twinge of pain radiated up her injured shoulder, but she did her best not to wince. Instead, she covered the motion with a slight shake of her hand, “Sorry, I’m just realizing now that going for drinks probably wasn’t my smartest idea...”
“Have you ever gotten drunk then?” Shiloh asked curious. She wondered just how high her tolerance was. As Skylar mentioned the drinks she could make, Shiloh kept drinking. She didn’t meet a lot of people with a high tolerance like hers. It was interesting. “Maybe you can make them for me, sometime.” Shiloh smiled, slowly batting her eyelashes, having drank enough to be unable to hide her affection toward Skylar but she was still her respectable self. No amount of drinks could change that. “Wait why? What’s wrong with the drinks?” Skylar looked uncomfortable for a moment. Did something happen? “Did I do something wrong?” It was her staring. It had to be. Shiloh averted her eyes, choosing to glance around the area. It was relatively busy. Mostly men though. She caught one staring at them. She frowned and turned her attention back to Skylar but not letting their eyes meet.
“Mhm, not really. I went to a party once in college, but getting drunk just makes it harder for me to understand people?” Skylar gestured to her ears, her hearing aids purposefully obscured by her hair. For one thing, the bright blue hearing aids didn’t really go with her outfit. For another, she wasn’t really sure how the very fancy people here would react to someone visibly different from them. The way Shiloh was looking at her was… confusing. What was going on..? Normally, Skylar had a decent handle on reading body language, but maybe it was the alcohol muddling things? She really hadn’t had that much though. “No, no, you didn’t do anything wrong. Really. I just...” She watched as Shiloh stared around the place. Oh god, she’d messed up. Rubbing her forehead with her hand, Skylar closed her eyes for a moment. She’d just say it and it would be fine and it wouldn’t be awkward. Or at least, it wouldn’t be this awkward. Opening her eyes, she offered an apologetic grimace, “I’m sorry. It’s just, I don’t do great in bars or clubs or things like that when I drink. Between how much it takes for me to feel anything and what happens when I do… It’s why I’d planned to stay home. But, um, if you’d like, I could make you a drink at mine?” Skylar asked, hopeful.
Suddenly it all made sense. “Oh, I’m so sorry, I didn’t even think about that.” Shiloh truly felt rude for not having taken Skylar’s hearing into consideration. “I’d love to go back to your place.” She quickly finished her wine glass but realized there was still some wine in the bottle. “You wanna finish that before we head out? They don’t hand out to-go cups unfortunately.” Shiloh got up from her seat, adjusting her jacket. Her head felt a little light but she could walk. It wasn’t bad at all. A hostess came by to ask if they were leaving and Shiloh nodded. They had her card on file, they’d charge it, it was all good. She outstretched her hand to Skylar with a smile, offering to help her out of her seat.
“Don’t worry! This is my fault, really. Not that anyone’s at fault, it’s just an honest mistake.” Skylar said, hoping she didn’t offend Shiloh. “Hm?” She glanced at the bottle and realized that there was easily another cup left. Whoops. Ack. Taking a long drink to finish off what was in her glass, she poured the rest of the wine into her cup, creating a very full glass that she had every intention of just chugging so she could leave this uncomfortably fancy bar.  “Oh, hey, what’s that?” Tilting her head, she pointed over Shiloh’s shoulder. When Shiloh turned to look, Skylar threw the glass of wine back quickly, not caring all that much about how a nearby patron gasped in shock. Setting the glass down, Skylar blinked as warmth began to radiate from her stomach, now full of wine and nothing else. “Ah, whoops. Sorry. I thought I saw something. But, um, let’s get out of here?” She said awkwardly before taking the hand offered to her.
Shiloh glanced over her shoulder way too fast, the room spinning slightly. However she didn’t want Skylar to see that so she kept looking. To staring faces. Sheesh. She turned around when Skye touched her hand, a blush creeping when she did. “Alright let’s go.” She held her hand as they left the Artesian, immediately feeling better and enjoying the evening breeze against her warm cheeks. Oh god was she red? She stopped once they were outside but still held her hand. It was nice. She smiled over at her. “So which way to your place?”
Following Shiloh outside, Skylar was very aware of the fact that their hands were still touching-- not that she minded, at all. In fact, quite the opposite. “I’m in downtown, so we’ll be heading this way.” She said, tilting her head to the more central area of town. “it’s a little bit of a walk. I hope you don’t mind that.” She said. All things considered, though, it was a lovely evening. They were close enough to the Whye River that the smell of fish wasn’t that bad and it seemed as though there hadn’t been an instance of fish rain in a bit. “It’s actually really nice out. I can’t remember the last time I was outside and there weren’t anchovies coming down.” She said with a laugh. The fact that sentence was even real was mind blowing.
“Taking a walk with you? That sounds perfect.” Shiloh shifted her hand, slightly letting go to fit her fingers between Skylar’s. “Your hands are soft, it’s nice.” Shiloh complimented, looking over at Skylar. She didn’t have any clue as to how weird it might sound. She just thought it and said it. She then looked up to the night sky. Clear, so hopefully no chance of anchovies? “Do you like anchovies?” Shiloh asked, curious. “If any of them start falling we can just open our mouths and catch them.” She turned to look at Skylar before breaking into a laugh at the thought of them catching things in their mouths. What a strange town.
Skylar felt her cheeks turn bright red at the comment and was incredibly glad that it was dark enough that Shiloh couldn’t see it. But, the embarrassment quickly faded away when she realized they were still holding hands. “Ah. I, um, moisturize a lot. It’s good for the skin, particularly in winter.” She said, with a nod. That was one way of putting the weird slime situation. Just… self-moisturizer. Ew, that sounded awful. Nope. Ugh. As they continued walking down the street, the streetlights seemed just a bit brighter, the edges of her vision just a little bit hazier-- phew. The last of the wine was hitting her now. “Anchovies? I mean, they’re okay?” Skylar laughed, shaking her head at the idea of that. “Nope, I’d draw the line there. No snowflake-anchovy catching for me.” Glancing over at Shiloh, Skylar couldn’t help but grin. This was a very different side to the woman than she normally interacted with and… it was really cute.
“Oh c’mon,” Shiloh said nudging her shoulder against Skylar. “It would be fun.” No it wouldn’t be - Shiloh wasn’t that drunk but she wanted to see Skylar smile more. “Go try it, open your mouth and catch the anchovies. Say ahh,” Shiloh opened her mouth trying to get Skylar to do with her. But the image of it was too funny for her buzzed mind to take. She laughed again, dropping her head as she tried to hold it in. “Oh man,” Shiloh said with a sigh. “Thanks for agreeing to spend time with me, by the way. I was scared you might say no. That you might have plans with someone else on Valentine’s Day.”
“Mmm, not happening.” Skylar hummed, before laughing as Shiloh tried to convince her to do join in. Her head might be lightly spinning, but there wasn’t enough alcohol in the world that could convince her to do that. “Nope! Definitely not.” At Shiloh’s next words, Skylar couldn’t help but blink in confusion. Why would she have said no? If anything, she should be the one thanking Shiloh for even asking. But, it was the last part of her sentence that really threw her for a loop. Who else would Skylar have plans with..? “You had nothing to be scared about, really. I don’t usually have plans,” Skylar said before realizing that sounded super lame, “on Valentine’s day.” She added. Ah, great. Now instead of sounding like a shut-in, she just sounded like she never dated. Which… was true, but Shiloh didn’t need to know that. “Thank you for asking, really. This has been a lot of fun.”
“I find that hard to believe.” Shiloh said, her eyes not leaving Skylar (she should really watch where she’s going). “You’re so fun to hang out with, how do you not get Valentine’s Day plans?” Oh. She really said that huh? Oops. Shiloh looked away that time, clearing her throat. She was oddly comforted by the hand hold and started to slightly swing their hands as they walked. “I’m glad I asked.” She said with a smile. “I’ll ask every Valentine’s Day so you’ll always have plans.” Shiloh nodded. “Unless you don’t want to. You can say no,” she reminded her. “I’m sorry, I think I’m a little uh… tipsy.” She felt a slight breeze which made her momentarily. hunch her shoulders in reaction. Oh, Skylar might be cold. “It’s kind of cold. Do you want my jacket?” Shiloh asked since Skylar was just wearing a shirt. She didn’t want her to be cold though.
Glancing over at Shiloh, she caught how the other woman was looking at her and Skylar felt her cheeks darken. She pulled her eyes away to focus on the road ahead, gently tugging her hand to lead them down Main Street into the downtown area. The lights were a little hazy to her vision, but other than that, she was feeling pleasantly buzzed. “Oh, I don’t know, I don’t think I’m that fun to hang out with.” She said, waving the comment off with her free hand. Skylar blinked, startled by the offer. “I-- It’s okay! I’m feeling a bit of a buzz too, honestly.” She said. Hm? “Oh, I’m good, honestly. I kinda run warm.” She explained as they walked down the streets, past busy bars and restaurants making a brisk Valentine’s business.
“You are though.” Shiloh even gave her hand a squeeze - and she did notice Skylar’s hand was warm. Cool. She was about to say something else when she heard something fall on the ground. She turned her head, it was distant and she glanced back to see if Skylar noticed but remembered her hearing aid. Again she heard the sound. It was familiar. What was it? The sound started to seem closer and more frequent and then Shiloh saw it. Fish. “Uh, Skye?” She called out to her, tugging on her hand and then looking to meet her eyes. “The fish are coming.” In any situation it might have been funny to hear but right now it meant they had to find some cover and fast. Up ahead Shiloh saw a small awning. “Come on, over here.” She led them to it, finding it was a smaller space than she thought it would be. Skylar was really really close but she could hear the sound of fish splatting on the ground near them and she really didn’t want either of them to get smacked in the head. And right now maybe getting stuck pressed close to Skylar wasn’t the worst thing…
Not fully sure how to react to that, Skylar hummed noncommittally, cheeks still bright red. As they continued walking, she glanced at some of the people in the bars. It seemed as though there were lots of people enjoying the company of the people they cared about. Which was kinda what-- before she could read in too much into that thought, Shiloh tugged her hand. “Huh?” Focusing on Shiloh’s lips, she got something about fish-- oh no. Glancing up, she saw that there were indeed fish starting to come down. She hurried after Shiloh, but when they came to a sudden stop under the storefront, she nearly ran right into her in the confined space. “Ah, sorry...” Glancing down at the woman, Skylar was suddenly aware of how close they were. Her head was spinning from a combination of the wine and the soft scent of Shiloh’s perfume mixed with something distinctly woodsy. Maybe it was because she was so nice and sweet and wonderful. Or maybe it was just the wine. Either way, Skylar pushed all the thoughts from her mind as she leaned forward to kiss Shiloh.
Shiloh couldn’t look anywhere other than Skylar and her mind was buzzing with thoughts. She knew what she wanted to do and when she saw Skye coming close, she leaned up to meet her half way, closing her eyes when their lips met. Finally letting go of Skylar’s hand, it came up to rest on Skye’s waist as their kiss deepened. Maybe it was because Skylar was so close but Shiloh felt warmth covering her entire body as they kissed. Her lips were soft and the longer they kissed the more Shiloh wanted to taste. She would have continued, could have continued but there was a bang on the window they were leaning against. Apparently people were in there… whoops. Shiloh pulled away with a sheepish laugh, realizing also that her glasses had fogged up. She took them off to wipe them and realized there was a silence now. No more fish rain.
Skylar was pleasantly surprised when Shiloh met her halfway, lips soft against her own. The embrace was soft and sweet and not all that different the woman she was kissing. The longer they stayed there, the more Skylar’s head began to spin, from something entirely different from the alcohol. Lips parting slightly, she tilted her head just so-- the sudden bang startled her and she jumped a little, the sharp noise jarring her hearing aids. Skylar looked over to the source of the noise and went bright red. Oh god. There had been people-- had they seen that? They must have--Oh jesus. Watching as Shiloh cleaned her glasses, Skylar swallowed nervously. “I-- I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to just, um, kiss you out of the blue like that.” She said.
Shiloh turned to look at her smiling, “do I look like I minded?” Her eyes dropped to Skylar’s lips, unable to hold back and leaned to kiss her again, not giving a shit if anyone caught them. She pulled back. “There, now we’re even.” She reached down to grab Skylar’s hand once more. “We should probably hurry to your place before we get caught in the rain again. Come on.”
“I figured, I just--” Skylar’s mumbles were silenced by the kiss, which she was all too willing to lean back into. But, it ended just as soon as it began. A bit dazed, she nodded in agreement, allowing Shiloh to take her hand. “I… Yeah. That sounds like a good plan.” As she led the way back to her apartment, she couldn’t help but glance over at Shiloh for a moment. Wow. This wasn’t at all how she had thought her Valentine’s Day would have gone. But, the smile that refused to fade from her face was proof enough that it was a happy one.

✧✧✧
Lena giggled happily as Calum’s scruff brushed against her neck. His lips trailed up and down, his scruff turning it a little bit red, but not as dark as the hickeys were from the night before. After Calum and Lena confessed their love to each other they spent all night proving it. It was late in the afternoon, just after two, and neither of them had to work. They hadn’t gotten out of bed other than to go to the bathroom and get food. They stayed in bed all day, getting to know and memorize every inch of each other, Lena was engraved in Calum’s memory and he in hers.
“You’re the most beautiful person ever,” Calum mumbled against her skin. His lips were on every inch of her exposed skin, which was a lot, since she had little to no clothing on. He had waited for this for so fucking long and he wasn’t going to take any time with her for granted, he wanted to make every minute count and Lena wanted the same.
She traced his tattoos and asked about each one, even though she already knew about a few of them from the years before, but she listened intently to what each one meant and Lena swore she could listen to him talk for the rest of her life. His voice was her new favorite sound and his face her favorite sight. She couldn’t believe it took all these years to realize that he’s all she wanted, all that she needs.
“No,” Lena giggled as Calum’s scruff tickled her neck. “That’s you, Cal.”
“Not a fuckin’ chance. Nobody compares to you, love.” A sudden knock on the door had Calum pulling away from Lena and frowning in annoyance. He didn’t want to be interrupted. This was his time with her and he wanted to yell at whoever was at her door to go the fuck away. “You expectin’ anyone?”
Lena shook her head. “It’s probably just Skylar showing up like she always does,” Lena sat up and pecked Calum’s lips before getting out of bed. She was dressed in underwear and Calum’s shirt and she didn’t bother putting pants on. “Be right back.”
Lena slid across her wooden floor in her socks and swung her door open. Her eyes widened the size of saucers, she was sure, and her jaw dropped. She stared at the last person she expected to her at her front door. Ever. “Luke,” Lena whispered. “What- what are you doing here?”
She stared at him and looked in awe at how different he looked. He took his lip ring out and grew out his hair. It was curlier now and up in a bun and out of his gorgeous face. He traded in his Converse for leather boots and graphic tees for button ups. He looked great, there was no denying that, but he wasn’t her Luke anymore. He wasn’t the Luke she knew and loved. He was different and so was she.
“I heard you were back in town and I wanted to see you.” Luke smiled shyly and stepped inside without Lena inviting him in. She took a step back from him, like his presence scared her. She pulled on the end of Calum’s shirt she had on and crossed her arms over her chest after realizing it was a white shirt and she didn’t have a bra on. Sure, Luke had seen her naked plenty of time, but it didn’t matter. It was different between them now. They weren’t them. “I miss you, bug.”
“Don’t,” Lena shook her head. “Don’t call me that, Luke.”
Luke’s face dropped. He hadn’t expected that to be her reaction. He expected her to be thrilled to see him, to welcome him with open arms, not shoot him down before he could even begin. Not be so cold towards him. “I know I hurt you, Lena. And I’m sorry.”
“Baby, who’s here?” Calum rounded the corner in only his boxers, looking down at his phone, and stopped in his tracks when he looked up to see Luke standing there with flowers in his hands. Yellow roses, Lena’s favorite. “Oh, fuck.” He mumbled.
“What? What the fuck is this?” Luke pointed between the two of them. “What is going on? Are you guys like - are you guys like a thing?” Luke then noticed the hickeys on Lena’s neck and scoffed. He pulled the neckline of her shirt down and glared at Calum. “These from you, Cal? You’re marking her up? Markin’ Lena, my Lena, up?”
“I’m not yours, Luke.” Lena took another step back and Luke let his hand drop to his side. Lena could feel the tears burning her eyes and she hated herself for crying, but seeing Luke brought back so many memories and so many emotions. The good and the bad ones. “I haven’t been yours since you left me for no reason and broke my fucking heart.”
“Lena, I’m trying to apologize. I’m trying to make things right.”
“After almost three years?” Lena scoffed and let the first tear fall. “It’s too late to make things right, Luke.”
“Lena-”
“Just leave, Luke.” Calum spoke up. He knew he shouldn’t get involved, knew it was between his girlfriend and his best friend, but he couldn’t help it. He could hear the hurt in her voice and he hated it. He hated Luke for making her hurt so much. Hated seeing the girl he loved in so much pain because of somebody she once loved.
“Don’t, Calum. Fucking don’t.” Luke snapped at him. “You could have had any girl in the world and you choose my ex-girlfriend? You choose her? Out of all people- her?” He pointed a finger at Lena as he scolded the both of them. “What the fuck kind of friend are you?”
“What the fuck kind of friend am I? What the fuck kind of friend are you, Luke?” Calum raised his voice and Lena swallowed the lump in her throat, she had never seen Luke and Calum fight like this before. It scared her, almost. “Haven’t heard from in months and all of the sudden you show up and act like nothin’ is wrong? And who the fuck do you think you are showin’ up here after what you put her through?” Calum was pissed now. The more he thought about what Luke did to him and to Lena the more pissed he got. “She doesn’t love you anymore, Luke.”
“Oh, she doesn’t?” Luke smirked. He didn’t believe Calum. Why would he? Lena was once head over fucking heels in love with him, and Calum was right, love like that doesn’t just go away.
“No, she fucking doesn’t!”
“I need to hear it from her,” Luke then looked at Lena. “I need to hear it from you, Lena.”
“I don’t love you anymore, Luke.” It came out as a whisper. She could admit it to herself, could admit it to Skylar, and could admit it to Calum. But admitting it to Luke? To his face? It was a hell of a lot harder than she thought it would be. It seemed like she was breaking his heart just like he broke hers. But, karma is a bitch, they say.
Luke’s smirk dropped into a frown and he pursed his lips. Nodding his head, he pointed to Calum. His supposed best friend and wanted to laugh at how fucked up the situation he was in was. “And what? You love him? You love Calum? You love my best fucking friend?”
Without missing a beat, Lena confirmed it. “Yeah, I do.”
“Wow,” Luke couldn’t believe his ears. His ex-girlfriend and his best friend together? And in love? He swore he could feel the knife twisting in his back from them betraying him. “Great. That’s just fucking great. Fuck you both. Hope you’re happy.”
Luke threw the flowers he bought for Lena at her, in her face, and turned on his heel. Yanking the door open and slamming it shut behind him so hard that they could feel the small apartment shake. Lena looked down at the flowers, broken and fallen apart just like Luke looked when he left, just like she felt then and when he left her, and she let the rest of the tears fall.
“Hey,” Calum took her face in his hands and frowned at the tears as he wiped them off of her face. He kicked the flowers away, not giving one fuck about them, and ducked his head down to meet her eyes. They were red and filled with tears and it broke his heart. “Baby, hey,” Lena finally looked at him. “Are you okay?”
“No,” Lena croaked out pathetically and laughed sadly at herself. She was way too emotional, always had been, and she always would be. It was just who she was as a person, and he knew that, but Calum wouldn’t change it. “I’m not okay.”
Calum’s heart broke for her. He pulled her into him, wrapping his arms around her neck and resting his lips on top of her head while she wrapped her own arms around his waist. Bunching his shirt up in her fists, she sobbed against his chest. She couldn’t tell why she was so emotional. Maybe it was because she had for so many months, maybe even years, wished that Luke would show up and want her back, but it was different now. Everything was different now.
Lena pulled away and angrily wiped the tears off of her cheeks. She hated that, after all those years, she was still crying over Luke. Calum’s hands were still loosely wrapped around her and he watched as she took a deep breath. “God, fuck,” Lena cursed at herself. “I don’t even know why I’m crying.”
“That was a lot,” Calum mumbled. “A lot of emotions and seein’ Luke for the first time in years and him findin’ out and just everything; it was a lot. It’s okay to cry, Lena.”
“I can’t believe I’m still crying over him.” Then, it hit Lena, she just ruined their friendship. That made her tear up again and her lower lip tremble. The frown was apparent on her face and it felt like it would never go away. “I just ruined your friendship with him.”
“No, baby, no you didn’t,” Calum shook his head. He couldn’t let her think that because he and Luke’s friendship was falling through the cracks long before Luke found out about them. It had been for months and they were already distant, Calum could feel their friendship ending, but this just put it out of its misery. It wasn’t Lena’s fault. “Luke and I haven’t been close for months. This isn’t your fault and I can’t have you thinkin’ that.”
“But you just lost him, Calum. He was- he was like your closest friend.”
“Yeah, I might have lost him, but I lost him a long time ago.” Calum shrugged carelessly. “And I gained you in the process. And that’s all that matters to me.”
Lena laughed through her tears and finally smiled, making Calum smile automatically, and she shook her head at him. “You’re a cheese ball.”
“But you love me.” Calum grinned.
Lena wasn’t going to joke around and tell him that she didn’t, because too much emotional stuff had just happened, and she just had an unexpected run in with her ex-boyfriend. She didn’t want Calum to doubt her feelings for him, even if she was joking, it was too soon to joke about that. So, she grinned widely, stood on her tippy toes, and pressed her lips against his.
“You’re right. I do love you.”
Calum could taste the salty tears on Lena’s lips, but he didn’t care. All he wanted to do was kiss her and hold her and tell her how much he loved her. Call him cheesy, call him a fucking sap, but he didn’t care because he was. He was whipped already, but he knew that Lena wasn’t going anywhere, so he wasn’t scared of his feelings like he used to be. She was his and he was hers.

//
You definitely aren’t happy to be here. Looking around at all the sweaty bodies grinding on each other and people practically fucking in the corners around the mansion, you know you just want to go home to your tiny apartment that you love. You love the small, simple things. You still have no clue why Vince decided to buy a huge mansion when it’s just him, Sharise, and Skylar on the way. You also have no clue why Sharise thought it would be a good idea to have a party when she’s pregnant.
You’ve known the Crue for a very long time now. You were best friends with Nikki when he was still in London. You helped him and Tommy find Mick. You also helped them lure in Vince by acting like you were going to sleep with him. Which you eventually did in a drunken state of mind one night when you guys were still living in the Crue house. Damn, that seems like such a long time ago.
You’ve always been close with the Terror Twins. You would usually help them with their antics at the beginning. But, once Nikki started doing heroin, it drove you away from him. As much as you loved-and still love-him, you just couldn’t handle how aggressive he was. You nearly got socked in the face for saying the wrong thing. He would yell at you when you’d suggest rehab. It hurt you. You were just trying to help.
Nikki was your first love. It killed you to leave him when he was suffering, but he wouldn’t let you help him. You met Nikki when he first moved to LA. You just turned sixteen and he was working at some record store. You, being the music nerd you are, decided to go in to see if they had anything new. You knew that Nikki had just started working there since you came in every week and you’d never seen him before. He was definitely attractive. He gave off a mysterious vibe that you loved. Nikki looked up and instantly liked you too. At least that’s what Nikki told you. You don’t know if that’s true or not. Nikki asked you out on a date, and you two started dating after that. You guys broke up when you found out he cheated on you. Multiple times. That was a month before the band got together in ‘81. Surprisingly, it was never awkward with Nikki. You were closer than ever before. You two just work better as best friends.
You were instantly attracted to Tommy when Nikki brought him around. He was full of energy, and the same age as you. He made you laugh a lot. He tried to include you in his and Nikki’s antics as often as he could. He had this smile that was so contagious. The same thing with his laugh. You loved everything about him. The only problem was, he went through girls like they were nothing. And still does.
You’ve had a crush on Tommy since you first met him. It drives you crazy that you can’t have him. You’re still skittish with dating guys since Nikki cheated on you. He still apologizes for that to this day. You know he loves you, and you love him too. You don’t know what you’d do without that wild haired bassist. Nikki knows about your crush on Tommy. He’s tried dropping hints about it, but they just go right over the drummer’s head. He can’t tell how much you like him, even though you’ve been best friends for years.
You sigh at the situation, leaning against the couch cushions. You watch in disgust as Nikki snorts two extremely long lines of cocaine. You want to say something, but you don’t want to cause a scene. You’ll just get on his ass about it later. You look up from Nikki to see Tommy with a brunette on one side and a blonde on the other. They flirt with him relentlessly, causing you to roll your eyes. You don’t see why he loves girls that just throw themselves at him. It’s disgusting.
Tommy looks up to meet your eyes, but you quickly look down at the table. You know you’ve been caught glaring. You know that Tommy will most likely not say anything which is a relief. You look up again as you see him move. His eyes are locked on a gorgeous blonde that’s standing on the balcony. You instantly recognize her as Heather Locklear. You feel a pang in your heart and tears spring to your eyes. You can’t even hate her! She’s the sweetest person you’ve ever met.
You’re about to get up and leave when Nikki grabs your hand.
You can see that he knows that something’s wrong. “What’s the matter, (Y/N)?”
You know better than to open your mouth. As soon as you try to speak, you know you’re going to cry. You just point out to the balcony where Tommy is laughing at something Heather said. Nikki turns his head. His features soften as he realizes what’s going on.
“Oh, (Y/N),” Nikki says sadly, looking back at you. “He just doesn’t know.”
You scoff. “He should know! It’s not like I’m his type anyways. I mean, Heather is great! She’s beautiful, funny, and kind. Everything I’m not!”
Nikki scowls at you. “Don’t say that. You’re so gorgeous. You’re the best person I’ve ever met. I regret cheating on you every day. You deserved so much better than me. You’re such a badass too. That punch after you found out fractured my nose.”
You smile, remembering how you got so angry after you found out. You punched him square in the nose and left the apartment. You came back one week later. Nikki’s nose was still bruised pretty bad, but he forgave you.
“You deserved it, asshole.” You lean on Nikki, resting your head on his shoulder. “Am I just not good enough?”
Nikki wraps an arm around your shoulders, causing you to practically cuddle him. He leaned back on the cushions. Your head is now on his chest. “Of course you’re good enough. Hun, you deserve better than him. Hell, any of us.”
You smile at his answer. “Thanks, Nik. I needed that.” You don’t say anything after that. You two just sit there for what only feels like two minutes, but was probably thirty. You get out of Nikki’s grip, who looks sad that you got up. “I’ll see you later, alright? I’m gonna head home and cuddle with Whisky.” You smile, thinking of your chocolate lab puppy at home. You lean down and kiss Nikki on the cheek, to which he smiles widely at.
You say bye to Mick and Vince before you walk out the front door. You’re about to take off on the Harley that Nikki got you for your last birthday when a familiar voice yells your name. You turn to see Tommy running after you. He stops in front of your bike, completely out of breath. You get off of the steel horse, then lean against it.
You laugh. “And you said you’re in shape.”
He rolls his eyes. “Shut up.”
You raise your hands in surrender. “Just sayin’, Mr. Rockstar.”
He laughs. Then you both go silent. Tommy looks almost nervous. You’re just waiting to hear what he came out here to say. He just looks down at his feet, kicking the rocks that are scattered about the driveway.
“Tom?”
“Yeah?”
“What did you come out here to say?” You ask, laughing a bit. His head snaps up. His face turns tomato red with embarrassment. “I mean, I could stand out here in silence with you all night but I do have a puppy to go home to.”
Whisky was also a present from Nikki. He knew how much you wanted a dog, so he took you to the animal shelter where you found a small puppy to adopt. Nikki co-parents the sweet dog.
“Well, you didn’t think you could leave without saying bye to me, now did you?” He says, finally looking you in the eyes.
You shrug, looking down at the leather seat. “You seemed a bit busy.”
He laughs, nudging you. “Are you jealous.”
“Nope,” You say, no emotion on your face. “I was talking to Nikki and noticed you were with Heather. I figured you didn’t want to be bothered.”
Tommy looks down at the seat now, picking at it a bit. “Yeah, I saw you two getting comfty on the couch.”
“I wouldn’t say-.” You cut yourself off, smirking at the flustered drummer. “Wait a minute. Are YOU jealous?”
“W-What? N-No,” He stutters, turning red again. “I mean, even if I was, you wouldn’t date me. I’ve liked you since we met which is a long damn time. I thought that you might’ve noticed and do something since I’m too chicken shit to-.”
You cut Tommy off by pressing your lips to his. He freezes for a moment, but then melts into your touch. He kisses back with passion. His hands find their way to your hips, pulling you closer to him. You wrap your arms around Tommy’s neck. Your hands tug slightly at his hair. He groans into your mouth, causing you to smile.
You pull away, grinning from ear to ear. “I like you too, T-Bone.”
His eyes widen. “Really?”
You nod. His eyes light up like a Christmas tree. The next thing you know, you’re off of the ground and in Tommy’s arms. He spins you both around, yelling “YES!” over and over again.
“Tommy I’m happy you’re happy but if you don’t stop I will puke on you!” You yell.
He laughs, putting you down. “I’m sorry. I just got really excited.”
You giggle, kissing his cheek. “I could tell.”
He smiles, pecking your lips. “So will you go on a date with me?”
“What abou-.”
“I just met Heather,” Tommy laughs. “Besides, she’s nothing compared to the girl I’ve been crushing on since I turned eighteen.”
“Okay.”
“Is that an answer to the date?”
You laugh. “Of course it is.”
He picks you up again, this time allowing you to wrap your legs around his waist. “I’ve been waiting to hear you say that for a long time.”
You lean in, kissing Tommy hard on the lips.
“I KNEW YOU GUYS WOULD GET TOGETHER!” You hear someone yell from the porch.
You pull away from Tommy, looking towards who yelled. You laugh to see Nikki, Vince, and Mick all standing there, cheering the two of you on. You blow them a kiss before going back to making out with Tommy.
“GET A ROOM!” Vince yells, but you flip him off. You smile into the kiss as you hear the guys laughing.
This was definitely worth the wait.

Denial. ✓
That first morning after the bad news had been broken Skylar had woken up wishing and hoping that this was all a dream, but the reality was her dreams were better than waking up. She had dreamt that she was still pregnant, about as far along as she was now, but after spotting Gerald in their back yard playing with a toddler in a little blue romped, she realized this was their baby #2. Everything was perfect, he seemed so happy and it was so easy to fall into the routine of being a mom for the day. But the dream ended all too soon and she tried to hide her disappointment when she woke up, taking a shower to have some time alone. In there she held her bump, talked to their little guy and begged for him to be okay. She pleaded into the steamy, empty air for him to surprise everyone when they got to that doctor’s office and live to see them be a happy family. She knew what today was and any hope that she could hold onto, she would. But there were no miracles when they got there and after about a half an hour, Gerald was taken to a waiting room and she was laying down, waiting for the local anesthetic to kick in before the doctor approached with a needle in hand - her sedative. “Ready?” Looking up at the ceiling tiles, Sky wrapped her hands around her stomach one last time as her face scrunched up as the tears finally returned. Her breathing was quickly becoming erratic and she shook her head at the question, knowing it didn’t really didn’t matter either way. “Nope.” There was a small pinching sensation in her arm and then she felt nothing.
Anger. ✓
It was just before lunchtime when Skylar and Gerald made it home from her surgery and because her cramping was so bad, he carried her in and straight to bed. The tears had returned, waking up from anesthesia to hear that her baby was no longer inside her had triggered her emotions to flare up and boil over. This was a new emptiness she was feeling, a whole piece of her that was missing and future plans that were ruined. She couldn’t even think of what she should or needed to do, just curled up in bed and nodded as Gerald said he was going to make some lunch so she could eat before taking the pain medication.
The two spent the whole morning and afternoon together when Skylar wasn’t asleep. She’d started bleeding pretty bad and every bathroom trip turned into a spiral. By about the fourth one of the day, she called Beth. Breaking the news made everything feel too real, but sobbing constantly to Gerald made her feel guilty, so she reached out to her non-pregnant best friend. Just after hearing the news, Beth took off to go check on her girl. The blonde knocked on the door and immediately pulled Gerald into a tight hug when he opened it, looking pretty worse for wear himself. “I’m so sorry.” She whispered as she held onto him, letting go after a few moments. “How is she holding up?” “Um.. well she’s back to crying again, I don’t know if that’s a good sign. She’s in some pain, so I was just making her some soup. Why don’t you head up and I’ll bring it up when it’s done. Take her water with you.” She nodded and grabbed Sky’s water bottle before heading upstairs and finding her in a little ball in bed, back turned to the door. “Hey honey.” She called as she stepped around the bed and sat on the edge by Sky’s knees. The brunette only looked at her in response, sniffling every few moments. “Gerald called me, honey, I’m so sorry.” She ran her hand back through Skylar’s hair, the gentle gesture  causing more sobs to break free. “Oh Sky..” Beth sighed and put her bag down. “Can I get you anything?” All she got was a little shake of the head from the brunette and Beth held out the water bottle. “Drink, I’m going to find your movie collection.” Skylar moved the mouthpiece and took a few drinks as she watched Beth from her spot in bed, giving her a little nod after she popped in Friends with Benefits, one of the many rom coms it seemed they were going to start rewatching as they had before the few times Skylar had been through a heartbreak. This time was different though, it didn’t feel like a heartbreak she would ever heal from, this was going to leave her missing a piece of her heart for the rest of her life. Beth crawled into the bed with her this time and Skylar found herself rolling over and resting her head on the blonde’s lap as the movie started. She closed her eyes and just let herself start to dose, only woken up once Gerald brought her soup and her medication. Taking her antibiotic and pain pill with a small sip of broth, Sky rested her head back down and let sleep take her. It was a lot of the same for nearly the next two days. She finally started opening up more and more after Gerald had found her sobbing on the floor of the shower, holding a much softer midsection and apologizing to steamy, empty air. He’d sat with her for a bit in that shower, letting the water hide their tears as the two finally started talking. She hated that they were back here again, she hated that she was nowhere near the level of acceptance she had been at this point the last time she’d miscarried. She hated that he was sad and worried. She just hated it all. “I just wanted it so bad, that’s the one thing my body is supposed to be good for and I can’t even keep my baby alive.” “Sky this is not your fault-” “Then whose is it? Who do I blame? Because I can’t believe this shit happens for no reason, that I just get the shitty luck of the draw because the world decided I never get to have a family. No, tell me who I blame?”  Beth was sitting on the edge of the bed, talking in the same pitied tone as the doctor had and Skylar wanted to hit her. She wanted to scream and punch and fight until everything became a little more unfucked, but realistically that wouldn’t happen. “It does.. Just happen. You’ve been fighting a war with your body for years now, but you did not just decide one day that you were going to doom yourself. The universe isn’t punishing you, it’s - I can only imagine what you’re feeling, but honey there’s no one to blame. Would you blame Gerald?” “That’s different.” “No it isn’t.” Beth sighed and watched the brunette move around in the closet, currently changed into pajamas after her almost hour long shower and now trying to find an outfit for Jessica’s gender reveal coming up. “You don’t have to go to this, I’m sure she’ll understand.” Skylar grabbed the black dress that Beth had picked out for her while they all went shopping and held it up. Was it too funeral-y for a gender reveal? Her body felt like a walking funeral, so she tossed it in the pile of possibilities. “If I stay in bed then he worries, if I go back to normal life then you worry, I don’t know what you two want from me!” She turned around and stood in the doorway of the closet, looking at Beth, eyes red and puffy and feeling awful all around, but angry, more than anything. “If I had a choice I would lay in that bed until I was with my baby again. No actually, if I had a choice I would have my baby back here with me, but I don’t, so I’m putting on a stupid diaper and I’m going to celebrate my best friend having two babies she doesn’t even want. Is that okay?” The bedroom door opened and Beth and Skylar both looked over to Gerald who was standing there, staring at the two of them. Beth gave him a soft shake of her head and sad smile and Skylar watched the two communicate silently, obviously about her, causing her to groan before walking back into the closet. She willed her attention to return to the mundane outfit picking, but when she couldn’t focus, she walked back out and straight to their balcony, needing a break from the tense air in the room. “Babe?” She called out, not sure if he’d still be there, but she eventually got a reply after some hushed chatter. Instead of telling him what she wanted, she just held her hand out, waiting for him to come out and join her, most of her anger focused on Beth still.    The blonde handed Gerald her soft blanket before he walked out and left the two to cuddle on the balcony in privacy and starting on some dinner for everyone. Skylar hadn’t been eating much, but something was better than nothing and she knew at some point they would find their old normal to return to, but for now, she let herself be the bad guy when that’s what Skylar seemed to need and the ear for Gerald whenever he had a question or wanted to talk. This was definitely not the same four days in bed road to recovery her best friend had been down before and she really hoped she could convince Skylar not to go to the party before it made things worse.
