If Galo, Lio and other characters from Promare were on a reality baking show, who do you think would win? :)
well galo and lio going on a reality baking show is just putting two 20 smth yr old guys who probably just get donuts from the 7/11 for desert among seasoned bakers so i think theyd be out of their depth but id love to watch it happen, i think several fires would start. it rly depends on like the goal of the specific reality baking show like does the food need to be really good. so i think.......... the pizza guy would win. we don't know if he bakes as well but i think he's got the best chance

twitter BJ_ByYourSide/status/1427940852433776640 I'm confused on why this clip isn't on everyone's favorite list. There so much here! DD not wanting to sound fake and wanting to keep stuff away from the media. Reminds me of when he seemed upset with dd for praising him until gg reassured him he was being sincere. And obviously this is crush behavior- "what did he say about mee", so cute! Do you know when this was filmed? I would imagine the earlier stages cause he seemed insecure
Tumblr media
This is the link, to make it easier for readers.
Hi Anon,
I'm a bit confused about why you think this isn't a popular clip. This one is actually quite popular, and fans made a big deal about it when it was first released. It's maybe not as popular as the 9 minutes of bickering on a boat or the lewd moments or jealousy in 3 languages, but it's also not nearly as exciting as those clips.
To me in order for a clip to be exciting it has to be entertaining (and ones containing both of them are always the most entertaining) or it has to reveal something new about them (jealousy in 3 languages seemed to give clues about their sexual orientation, for example).
This clip, while cute and also somewhat hilarious, doesn't give anything all that new. We already knew that DD is into GG, we already knew that he's the sort of person to be invested in what GG thinks about him and in what GG says about him.
I also don't see this clip the same way a lot of fans see it. I don't see it as 'early days, guy has a crush on another guy' at all. It strikes me as fairly normal behavior that doesn't give us much timeline insight. I think anyone discussing an interview where they were a likely topic would want to know what the other person said about them, especially if they were romantically involved with them.
If anything, that clip makes me eye the Devil's Timeline even more. There are a few things that stick out.
DD is speaking pretty openly about how sweet, handsome, cute, etc. GG is. That's not something I see someone as reserved as DD saying about someone he doesn't know well, to people he doesn't know well.
When the producer says that GG said they 'have a good friendship', everyone in the room starts laughing. To me it comes across as, "That's the understatement of the year." Like the people there know that GG and DD are more than just friends.
When DD brings up the game, I think he's musing about things he could have mentioned in the interview but didn't - not that he's 'excited about having had some alone time with a guy he has a crush on', as so many turtles think. That's only reinforced by what someone said in the comments of that clip, that "I didn't want to say it" in reference to the game was actually mistranslated and would be better translated as "I forgot it", which is why the producer said, "Your reaction was slow."
Similarly, someone in the comments said that "Am I fake?" (in response to why he didn't say all these glowing things about GG in the interview) would have been better translated as, "I would have sounded fake." So some fan impressions come out of how the clip was translated.
Everyone's going to have their own interpretations/impressions of things. A lot of fans read DD as insecure here, trying to pump the producer for information about his 'crush'. That's not at all how I saw this clip.
To me, judging from DD's body language and demeanour, he comes across as relaxed and maybe a bit bored. I don't see any insecurity at all in his behavior or speech.
He's obviously quite comfortable in his surroundings and with the people around him. DD is a scrupulously polite, often very reserved guy. He simply wouldn't behave so casually around people he doesn't know well or have a good rapport with. Some of his behavior could come across as rude if he's interacting with a superior he doesn't know very well.
So this clip tells me that DD has developed a laid back relationship with the crew, which leads me to believe he's not the 'new', 'shy', 'insecure' person that fans read him to be.
I also get the impression - like I said before - that DD is already in a relationship with GG at this point.
It's hard to say when it was recorded, but likely well into filming. After all, those interviews were filmed as promo, and it's unlikely they'd start filming those things before the cast and crew had gotten well into the groove of the project.
Just my two cents. Like I said, a lot of people have a different view of this and that's their right. We'll likely never know for sure what this was really all about.
If people don't talk about clips like this much now, it's probably because the BTS is really old and people aren't talking about any of the BTS much these days. These BTS moments were all filmed nearly 6 years ago.
Edit: here's GG's interview, which is being discussed in that clip.

Can I request for Finral and Langris for your new ask game?
Absolutely, Anon-friend! I have so many songs for them, you have no idea lol. 😅
Your song and headcanon are below the cut. Thank you so much for asking about my boys 💚💙 and for playing my song + headcanon game!
I have posted about several of my favorite Spatial Mage Brothers songs here already, but for your ask, I've chosen a newer one (at least for me) and gone with "Never Love An Anchor" by The Crane Wives even though it is somewhat of an angsty song.
In a lot of ways this is probably a Langris song just in general since there is something about lines like "There is love that doesn't have a place to rest, but it would have buried you if it had settled on your shoulders" that just scream Langris Vaude to me. He has such a deep and intense capacity for real, selfless love and devotion for the select few he chooses to care about (his brother, Finesse, William, Yuno ect.), but it's very difficult for him to express that, especially to Finral (i.e. "These hands of mine were clumsy, not clever. And I tried to do the best that I could, but try as I might, I couldn't bring myself to hold you"). There's this element of wanting to protect himself from getting hurt (i.e "Do you ever think of me and my two hands? ...And wonder why they never had the chance to lose you?"), but at the same time there is also this element of wanting to protect his loved ones, in this case Finral, from getting hurt by him because he sees himself as "selfish," "broken" and "cruel." There is something about that line "you'll never see the reasons I had for keeping my claws away when they were close enough to hurt you" just gives me chills when I think about it in the context of Langris and Finral's strained sibling bonds.
Also, I think there is something so fitting in this anchor and ship analogy for Langris and Finral given their personalities and the paths they have chosen in their lives. Finral really is like a boat leaving the "harbor" of House Vaude and all the duties and responsibilities that being part of a noble house entailed, joining up with the Black Bulls, and finding a new life for himself, whereas Langris is absolutely the anchor--steady and tethered unquestioningly to the life that is expected of him: bound by his duties and responsibilities. I think in a lot of ways, Langris does worry that "a ship could never really love an anchor" and so I think he really did "sever the rope to set [Finral] sailing from [his] harbor" and tried to close of his heart to his brother--afraid that he would one day just leave him (again). The poor boys...if only they would talk about this, but alas... (I still have hope for them yet though💙💚).
Never Love an Anchor (Lyric Video) - The Crane Wives - YouTube
Related (somewhat angsty) Spatial Mage Brothers' headcanon:
Though Langris would never admit to it, he did think of Finral after his brother left House Vaude, if only on holidays or Finral's birthday (but more often than not, other times too just painfully reminded of him and missing him more than he cared to admit). There were many times he wrestled with the idea reaching out to him for his birthday or a holiday, but he always stopped himself--could never bring himself to do it since he was too scared of being abandoned and rejected again.
Meanwhile, he received a card from Finral on each and every birthday, major holiday, or other big occasions. He never opened them, but he couldn't bring himself to throw them away either, so he kept them in a box and someday (in the future) when he is strongly considering permanently reconciling with his brother, he pulls them out and reads them until his eyes start to grow misty with the realization that he brother really had loved him all along even when he was away.

I always see Descole/Desmond also having a Lycanroc (day form) and a Zoroark (who possibly disguises itself as another lycanroc)
Anon, you and I share at least one brain cell because I was thinking of something VERY similar
Time for some Pokémon AU ramblings
let me show you my ideas for now:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
when it comes to young Des honestly I simply could not decide on only 6 Pokémon so just see it as ones he personally caught and at some point had in his team rather than his set team at one specific point in time.
And as you can see I imagine Desmond and Descole would have different teams. Just bc he definitely would want to make sure no one recognises him by the Pokémon he has with him (and totally not because choosing only 6 for both personas/3 for each is too difficult for me)
I wanted to throw in a midnight form Lycanroc for Descole so bad but I couldn't fit it in anymore.
Desmond having an Arcanine is just pure indulgence on my side because it's been one of my favourites ever since I was little. I think he would meet and catch it already fully evolved.
Similar thing with Fennekin/Delphox, it was my favorite starter in X&Y and even besides that I just think it fits his personality and aesthetic. (to be honest Froakie/Greninja would too but listen I've struggled enough to keep it at 6. I guess if you don't like Fennekin just switch it for Froxy in your mind lmao)
Riolu and Lucario are in there for reasons I don't think I need to explain I mean.... just look at them.... (also it was important to me that he had at least one through friendship evolving Pokémon)
Same for Cubone and Marowak. You know why they are there.
Roserade on the other hand I cannot explain. It looks more like Descole but something about it is also very Desmond to me.
Vulpix looks so much like young Des that I couldn't just not put it in there and also despite being more fox-like I think it, as well as Ninetales, fits his aesthetic.
the next three are very easy to explain
Noivern, aesthetically just is SO Descole. I think he'd catch it as a Noibat out of need for another non-Desmond Pokémon in his team.
Poochyena and Mightyena are pretty obvious, they just are very Des with the red eyes and dark aesthetic. I think young Des would've met an abandoned Poochyena that acted very aggressive towards him at first until realising they were in the somewhat same boat.
Murkrow and Honchkrow are there bc they have red eyes and bc Honchkrow is literally Descole OUHSHDV
(fun fact, actually painful fact: I think he would have given Murkrow to his daughter to help her learn how to fight, that's why I didn't put it, or Honchkrow, on Desmond's team as well)
I also have teams for other characters planned in my head so if anyone is interested 👀

Thoughts on whats been going around?
Tumblr media
y'know in lieu of receiving this ask two hours ago. I know exactly what this is about.
First off, let's not do this again. And by this, I mean asking for my input cause in the past there's also been other anons I get that cycled into asking this in the past about other bs I don't really care about.
Secondly? It's quite literally none of my business.
That is genuinely and all there needs to be said about it. I know what I log in for each day for, actively enjoy doing then logging out at the same time. If I have people I enjoy hanging with? Cool. If I don't, also cool. Let it be known I'm never in the 'community' aspect with not just the genshin rpc, but any in tumblr really. I'm here to write out ideas and possibilities first with shared muses. Have me a good deal of fun as an important second, and somewhat get to know people as a third. I actively take care of how I handle my energy when it comes what dive into as a hobby.
The reason I'm even answering this and in the way I'm doing it is both as a partial psa but also, as the first and final I'll ever even bother with this type of thing. I've created my blog as a carved out space where I can have a good time, and if others so decide, can hop in the boat and do the same. It'll never get deeper than that.
You quite literally see me on here to do actiony post, character/game exploration and about anything else. Please have common sense in your expectations.

KH ANON HERE AGAIN!! i have continued my silly AU (it’s a bit long but )
max pretty much just coughs and sputters and asks where the siblings are trying to go. “ever heard of a, uh.. disney castle?” yakko says, and max immediately explodes. he starts to reconsider his adventuring for a moment. he tells the siblings to follow him, and he heads backwards to his town. along the way, he explains his story, and they explain theirs’; they’re looking for information about their parents, and he’s looking for an adventure. yakko comes up with an idea. they end up setting camp late at night, the other two sibs asleep before he playfully elbows max. “why don’t me and you form a partnership, maxxy? you want an adventure, and i’m definitely going on one, eh?” . max agrees, and the gang are now going to be on their own quest. yakko is a bit of a worrywort when it comes to his siblings, so he tells them to stay in town while him and max go on a little walk to map out what’s around disneytown. (think of how caring he was in wakkos wish. also this will not stop them by the way do you think dot would simply let this slide.. NO WAY) due to max’s role in the kingdom, he’s able to get them a place to stay in the castle (they cause havoc once or twice but queen minnie thinks they’re silly). when yakko finds out that the king is missing and queen minnie doesn’t know about the warners’ parents (they have somewhat of an idea that they were well known, but haven’t figured out they were royalty.) the quest continues, dot and wakko swearing up and down to stay on their best behavior and not move an inch (LIES!)
dot and wakko plan to sneakily follow their brother on that little walk until they run into a certain trio of ducks.. none other than HUEY DEWEY AND LOUIE (in KH canon theyre their classic selves but this is an AU so i say they are their dt2017 counterparts..) dewey LOVES adventure and you know who has a history with lost family adventures? exactly. the boys feel for the warners in that sense, and they don’t have much on their plate besides running the shop.. so what’s a little adventure… (oh no guys pls stop being reckless WHERES UNCLE SCROOGE)
meanwhile yakko and max are getting along GREAT. they find out they have quite a lot in common. yakko realizes outside of his sibs, he really doesn’t have any friends, but thinks this is a really good chance to get to know someone and make a friend as well (cough… or more…) and although he may think he’s super smooth and suave he hasn’t really ever actually FELT what it’s like to have a crush, so he is completely taken aback by why he’s sweating so much and fiddling with his hands around this guy he just met a day ago. max is in the same boat, and he’s more obvious about it, but yakko thinks he just is a awkward person (affectionately speaking of course). max opens up to yakko about his current situation, and how even though he loves his dad, he wants to feel like more of a max goof and less of goofy’s son. yakko opens up to max about how he loves his sibs but can’t help but feel worried about letting down his sibs (caring big brother moment </3) all at the same time, yet he doesn’t want to show them a side of him that isn’t silly and collected. max is just like .. oh man i know what that’s like, feeling like you have to be something you can’t always be, but you’ll realize that the people who love you will love you for you. and yakko hugs him. which is unexpected for BOTH of them but it is gladly returned, and then the two cough and turn away from eachother. “uh.. thanks, max. thank you.” “NO PR-*hyuck*oblem” “is that your laugh? oh maxie ol’ pal, no wonder you’re a goof. i like it. *wink* *taps him on the nose*” (cue max exploding inside moment.)
*wakko and dot inside a nearby bush with a pair of binoculars shared by both of them*
“is he crushing?”
“Oh yeah. BIG time.”
(also i love the HC that yakko’s eyes turn into hearts and his tail wags around max that is so cute. i cant.) i picture him looking around and walking into Huey dewey and louie’s store and being like.. hey you guys have sunglasses by any chance?
“uh isn’t it winter?”
“Don’t ask.”
(i have more about this AU i’ll send next time, MORE ADVENTURE !! this was more about them in the beginning stage HAHA)
Ok Hi I literally got to this months late I'm not great at staying on top of my askbox. This is SO cute I love Yakko and Max's bonding, I love the little nose boop, I love Yakko still being a worrywart for his siblings. I LOVE that Yakko catches on REAL fast that he's going to have to start hiding his eyes, he knows right away this is a big time crush, even if he's going to deny everything lol. I share the eye headcanon, although if you're familiar with me and my fics you knew that already. Do you have any of this written somewhere?

i'm enjoying an opposite of echoes SO MUCH (i'm with the crew that loves gsr as parents, i don't care what canon says, they'd be excellent at it) and it got me to thinking... what do you think could have happened if sara got pregnant like way earlier in the relationship? maybe early or mid-season 6... do you think they could deal with it a little like in your fic? because i really think you've nailed the characters there. just throwing thoughts around here! love your blog and your fics ❤
hi, anon!
thank you for your kind words! i'm so glad you're enjoying the story so far. truly, it means a lot. ❤
re: your question:
i do have an old post that speculates more broadly on what might have happened had sara gotten pregnant during her and grissom's secret dating phase, which you can read here, if you're interested.
if you're interested in an answer that is a bit more s6-centric, i put it under the "keep reading."
__
in theory, there is a way to tell a believable and compelling story in which grissom and sara experience an unplanned pregnancy sometime during the course of s6, decide they want to keep the baby, and then live happily ever after.
probably multiple ways, in fact.
it’d just be a matter of applying the right types of pressure to the situation and to the characters themselves; knowing what buttons to push with them, as it were.
that said, i think that due to some of the constraints on them (both internal and external to their relationship) during the s6 timeline, the likelihood for that kind of outcome is probably much lower than it would be at a later point in their history, and the types of pressure you’d have to apply to get them to make the initial decision to go forward with the pregnancy would have to be very, very specific.
my reasons for saying so are manifold.
for one thing, though we don’t know exactly when grissom and sara officially start dating, we can say that during the course of s6 their relationship is still fairly new and speculate that that newness might make them both somewhat reluctant to rock the proverbial boat, particularly doing something as life-altering as choosing to have a child together.
though of course they have known each other and been in love since 1998, by early to mid-s6 (i.e., mid-2005 to early 2006), they have probably only been a couple for a few weeks or months at most, depending on when in late s5 or early s6 they actually get together; certainly, no longer than one calendar year (and only then if they begin dating during the events of episode 05x13 “nesting dolls” and find out sara is pregnant sometime around the events of episode 06x14 “killer”).
and, yes, even so early on in the game, they are both individually sure the other person is “the one” and know they want to spend the rest of their lives together, true.
but, all the same, they also still aren’t 100% convinced the other person is as “all in” as they are themselves.
it’s the kind of deal where they’re both sitting there thinking, “i'd marry her/him tomorrow if s/he asked, but i'm not going to say so right now because we just started dating and i don’t want to freak her/him out.”
though both of them secretly “long for more,” neither one of them wants to tip their hands too much and risk scaring the other person off.
they both are dying to know if the other person sees a long-term future for them but are too afraid to ask. they both want to say "i love you and want to be with you for the rest of my life" but are too scared to speak the words.
—and the thing is, discussing the prospect of having a baby together would make all of those unasked questions and unmade declarations between them unavoidable in a way that’s daunting to even think about.
then add on the facts that they also may or may not actually be living together at this point—again, we don’t know exactly when they officially move in to the same apartment/condo—and that regardless of anything else, they are most definitely not yet “out at work” as a couple at this time, and you very much have a recipe not only for them both to be extremely nervous about the prospect of potential parenthood in itself but also to be gun-shy in open discussions with each other regarding their feelings on the matter, fearing to upset what is still a fairly fledgling thing between them.
if sara finds out she’s pregnant without grissom also knowing, she will then be faced with the dilemma of whether or not she should tell him. while on the one hand, one can imagine she’ll want to be honest (because she loves him and wants his input), on the other hand, one can also imagine just how terrified she might be to give him the news—particularly if, as i suspect is the case, they have to this point never broached the topic of possibly having children with each other before.
she’ll probably have some very real concerns about how he might react, what he’ll want to do, and what might possibly happen if their desires are at odds. her deep-seated fear of rejection will almost surely rear its head.
so in some versions of this story? she might opt not to tell him at all.
she might decide it would be better not to upset their delicate status quo and instead to just quietly get an abortion on her own (especially if it were still very early in the pregnancy and she could do so using medication).
she might feel guilty about doing so, not in terms of the abortion aspect itself (her behavior in episode 06x06 “secrets and flies” strongly suggests she is pro-choice) but in terms of keeping secrets from the man she loves. she might feel poorly about herself for not trusting him enough to tell him and/or for unilaterally making a decision that concerns them both.
however, even if she does ultimately tell him or if he somehow finds out the news without her telling him herself—like, say she passes out due to low blood sugar (which is something that sometimes can happen in early pregnancy) and he ends up going with her to the er and is, at her insistence, there holding her hand when the doctor shares the results of her bloodwork—she still might be reluctant to give voice to her true feelings for fear of alienating him, and he might be the same way on his end of things.
even if they do finally have that difficult conversation, they both might refrain from saying what exactly they want, dancing around the issue and being way too deferent to each other to actually explore their true desires. their decision might therefore ultimately end up being more of a nondecision (i.e., they might terminate the pregnancy by default just because neither one of them is willing to discuss any alternatives, though they might want to).
of course, even if they do manage to say what they want, what they want might not ultimately be to go forward with the pregnancy anyhow.
the grissom and sara of canon remain childless throughout their whole courtship and marriage—and because we never see any kind of infertility or failed adoption storyline with them, i tend to believe they do so by choice.
for any number of reasons, grissom and sara might not want children—and that decision on their parts might not change, even in a situation where they were to experience an "oops" pregnancy.
there are lots of couples in the world who never have children and live very happily that way, and show canon certainly proves that grissom and sara could be one of them.
but even if they're more on the fence about the possibility of becoming parents (or are at least open to considering it), they still might not choose to do so in the end due to their circumstance.
i set up the accidentsverse au version of s8 to give them every possible inducement to choose to have a baby, making the choice as feasible for them as it could probably ever possibly be.
the grissom and sara of that story have already been together as a committed couple and living together for about two and a half years and have overcome some not insubstantial challenges together by that point (e.g., grissom's sabbatical and sara's abduction). not only are they “out” as a couple at work and married (which gives them a lot of leeway in terms of what they're "allowed" to do), but their work situation itself has been modified so grissom is no longer sara’s boss and also now splits his supervisory duties with catherine (meaning he is able to maintain a much healthier and more reasonable work-life balance than he ever has before). moreover, sara has been going to therapy and has been taking an antidepressant ever since her abduction at the end of s7, so while her mental health is still very much a “work in progress,” she feels a lot more stable than she ever had in years past. she also feels comfortable asking for help because she knows what kinds of resources and supports are available to her.
all of these factors contribute to their decision to have a baby in that story world—as does, frankly, the fact that they’ve just gotten married, not because they have any moral or social compunctions about whether or not their child is born “in wedlock” but because a) they're so fucking happy at the moment that they feel like they can take on the world, and, b) knowing they recently made another kind of public, lifetime commitment to each other helps reassure them that they can also make this one, as well.
of course, things are very different for grissom and sara in canon s6.
as discussed above, not only are they still fairly new to being in a committed relationship with each other, but they also may not live together or may not have been living together for very long. they’re not “out” at work as a couple, they don't have the same legal protections that they would as a married couple, grissom is still technically sara’s boss, and sara—though happier than she’s ever been, just on account of being with grissom—most likely isn’t receiving any kind of mental health treatment (and hasn’t since her mandated peap sessions during s5).
so given all of these factors, it’s very possible that upon discovering sara’s pregnancy, the grissom and sara of s6 might decide against having the baby, either in a “we’re just not there yet right now (but maybe someday)” kind of way or else in a “we’re never going to have children” one.
and, honestly, to me? this option seems like the most likely one at this point in their history.
ninety-nine times out of one-hundred, i think they’d choose not to have a baby so early on in their relationship—and especially because i tend to believe neither one of them has ever aspired to parenthood previously.
i can imagine some versions of this story that are angsty—again, not because grissom and sara have moral compunctions against abortion but because they might both very much be “in their own heads” about the situation, each one fearing they were, due to their own inadequacies and hang-ups, depriving the other one of something they might secretly want.
however, i can also imagine versions of this story where this experience actually has a positive influence on their relationship—where though they choose not to go forward with the pregnancy, they support each other throughout the ordeal and do end up managing to really communicate, despite their initial trepidations, eventually coming out stronger as a couple because they do.
maybe they might even decide that though they’re not ready to have a baby at the moment, they might revisit the possibility at a later date (after they finally “go public” with their relationship).
of course.
just as i can imagine scenarios where they choose not to go forward with the pregnancy, i can also imagine ones where they do. as stated above, though i think it’s unlikely grissom and sara would opt to have a kid during s6, “unlikely” doesn’t mean “impossible.”
some version of this story exists—one time out of one-hundred—where they decide to go for it.
it’s just that the story conditions would have to be calibrated just right in order to get them there.
timing would be key.
to my mind, the longer they’d been a couple before they realized sara was pregnant, the more likely they’d be to even entertain the possibility of “hey, maybe we could do this—.”
so early s6? (like, say, in a situation where after the events of episodes 05x24 and 05x25 "grave danger," pts. i and ii, they were both so freaked out by what had happened that they threw caution to the wind and had passionate, unprotected sex, and a few weeks later, during what was still technically the hiatus between s5 and s6, sara missed a period?) less of a chance they choose to have the baby then; still just waaaaaaay too early.
but mid- or late s6? (like, say, after all of the flirting and eye sex at the end of episode 06x22 "time of your death," they go home and have real sex and end up, unbeknownst to them, breaking a condom, and a few weeks later, during the events of episode 06x24 "way to go," sara is feeling a little under the weather and thinks she might be anemic, so while they're at the hospital waiting for brass to come out of surgery, she flags down a nurse—maybe tina—and asks her to do a quick blood draw, only to get back some unexpected news?) maybe, possibly they might.
likewise, the likelihood of them deciding to have the baby would increase if they were already living together once that positive test came through.
if they’d already cleared one major life-change hurdle together, then i tend to suppose the fact that they had would boost their confidence that they could potentially clear another (even if said hurdle were a very tall and imposing one, like potential parenthood).
the fact of them living together would also make it more likely that sara would either be compelled to confess to grissom that she was pregnant or that he would somehow find out through environmental means otherwise (e.g., because he realized he wasn’t seeing tampons in the garbage at a time when she should be having her period or he found one of the pregnancy tests she picked up at the drugstore hidden in the bathroom sink cupboard or because he witnessed her having morning sickness or because her ob/gyn called and left a message on their answering machine telling her her bloodwork results were in and she should call back asap, etc.).
their cohabitation also might help them just in terms of “imagining future logistics”—i.e., being able to muse about stuff like where they might put a crib or picturing how it might look to have a highchair in their kitchen; thinking about coming home to each other and their kid.
of course, beyond just timing and logistics, a lot would also come down to the them of it all.
when the news first came out, they each would have to respond to each other in such a way that it was clear the door was not closed.
they wouldn’t necessarily have to be like “yes! i want to do this! let’s have a baby!” from the moment they found out sara was pregnant, mind you, but they would each have to demonstrate to the other that they weren’t entirely opposed to the idea, either. there would have to be some sense of possibility; a lingering well, maybe— hanging in the air between them.
they’d also have to make clear to the other person that either answer was safe.
sara would have to feel like grissom wouldn’t resent her if she didn’t want to have the baby. she would also have to feel like he wouldn’t feel “baby trapped” if she did. more so, she would have be certain he was committed to her and their relationship and not just acting out of some a misplaced sense of gentlemanly obligation or antiquated social responsibility; she would have to feel like he wanted to actually be with her, whether she were to become the mother of his child or not.
meanwhile, grissom would have to be convinced that sara wouldn’t feel deprived if he couldn’t give her the “picket fence, 2.5 kids, and a dog” life that maybe a younger man might be able to; that she would be content maintaining their current lifestyle, even if it meant they might never have children. he would also have to feel like if they did decide to go forward with the pregnancy, it would be something she really, truly wanted to do and she didn’t feel as if he were pressuring her into anything. (he would hate nothing more than to make her feel like she wasn’t enough for him, just by herself.) equally or even more important would be his sense of security regarding sara’s acceptance of him as he is; he’d have to really believe she knew what she was getting with him, in terms of what kind of partner and parent he could be at her side going forward.
they would both have to say the right things at the right moments.
for example, though he might be tempted to, it would probably be for the best if grissom didn’t immediately propose to sara as soon as he learned she was pregnant, as he wouldn’t want to make her think his sudden rush toward commitment had more to do with an impulse to “make an honest woman of her” than with an actual desire to be with her forever, on his part.
they’d also have to allow themselves to be vulnerable in ways beyond anything they’d ever done before, talking through the fears and doubts and hopes and aspirations they carried, both individually and as a couple.
and inevitably, they would come upon some difficult conversations, particularly regarding their work situation.
having a baby together would necessitate them “coming out” at work as a couple, and they would need to be realistic about the risks of so doing.
in canon s7/s8, their punishment for flagrantly breaking department rules and maintaining a secret personal relationship for 2+ years is tantamount to a slap on the wrist.
yes, sara is compelled to switch shifts, but, honestly, they’re lucky neither one of them gets fired (and that none of their previous case convictions are overturned).
in a situation where they would have to come forward and admit that grissom, as a supervisor, had gotten sara, as his subordinate, pregnant, they might not walk away so unscathed.
my sense is that in canon, sara nearly being murdered in the line of duty somewhat shields her and grissom from more serious fallout for their professional transgressions.
she ends up in the hospital, fighting for her life, and then she and grissom fuck off for 4+ months afterward, taking an extended medical leave. once they both get back to work, enough time has already passed (and they have both suffered enough) that ecklie and the lvpd overlords probably don’t feel quite as compelled to “bring down the hammer” on them as they might have done otherwise.
everyone has more or less moved on.
but in a situation where grissom and sara had to self-report their relationship—and sara’s pregnancy—at a much earlier date, they wouldn’t be possessed of that same kind of “victim status” to elicit the pity and leniency of the department higherups.
sara might be somewhat protected because the pregnancy discrimination act of 1978 would make the department reluctant to fire her (as they would fear she could counter with a potentially costly wrongful termination lawsuit).
however, grissom would be more open to scrutiny.
and while in the past his professional reputation and unique skillset as one of the premiere forensic entomologists in the country have always insulated him from serious disciplinary action and/or termination, in this case, even his impeccable credentials might not be enough to save him.
a fifty year-old male employer getting his thirty-five year-old female employee pregnant despite department policy forbidding sexual and romantic relationships between members of the same forensics team just isn’t a good look for the lvpd.
it's difficult to account for.
grissom might end up losing his job over it.
and grissom and sara are both smart enough to realize such is the case.
they’re also both smart enough to realize that even if neither one of them is fired, they might still be forced to switch to different forensics teams and/or that their team members might be very upset with them (to the point where they might possibly lose friendships over the issue).
they'd probably have to have multiple long, hard talks about what they’d do in worst-case scenarios.
(for example, if grissom gets fired, should sara also quit? should they just move someplace else and try to start fresh once the baby comes?)
ultimately, they’d have to come to the determination they still wanted to go forward with the pregnancy, no matter what professional ramifications they might face for so doing.
from there, they’d also have to talk about the timing of making their announcement.
of course, early pregnancy is a risky time, so they probably wouldn’t want to jump the gun, revealing the truth too soon, in case something were to go wrong. however, they also couldn’t afford to wait too long to fess up or else they might run the risk of being found out before they were ready—a turn of events which could potentially result in worse consequences for them than if they’d come forward with the information of their own volitions.
accidentsverse sara can’t even keep her pregnancy a secret for a week once she knows about it, on account of her awful morning sickness. if the sara of this au faced a similar situation, she and grissom would probably be compelled to approach ecklie much sooner than they might like.
the whole decision-making process here would be a minefield, but i can imagine ways they could navigate it and arrive at the conclusion they wanted to have this baby enough that they were willing to assume all of the risks and suffer whatever professional consequences might come along from them so doing.
getting from the point of “holy shit, we’re terrified! but is this maybe something we want to do?” to “yes, absolutely, it is!” would be no small challenge, but if they were both gentle enough with each other and themselves, brave enough to ask and answer difficult questions, realistic about the challenges, hopeful about the possibilities, and genuinely in love with the idea of bringing a child into the world and raising it together, then maybe there are some versions of this story where s6 ends with a different iteration of the famous bathrobe scene in episode 06x24 “way to go”—one where instead of kneeling on the floor, sara’s lying on the bed beside grissom, and his hand is on her belly, and rather than saying she’s not ready to say goodbye, what she tells him is she can’t wait until they finally get to say hello.
it would be the kind of au that would take a lot of finesse to write in such a way that it would truly work, but as flannery o’connor says, you can do anything in fiction that you can “get away with,” and i think there’s a way one could get away with this storyline.
you’d just have to do so very carefully.
anyway.
thanks for the question! please feel welcome to send another any time.

Hi! Im not the same anon but I got curious about "I want to make stories and art but twitter scares me" reply. Im somewhat in a similar boat. You replied to look for an environment that you control but Im not really sure what you mean? Do you have any tips? Im asking because it seems to me that if you get mass-reported on any big socmedia these days, you get automatically purged no matter what. And im not sure what options are there to get your stuff out without the bigger sites? Making a site of your own sounds good and all, but it wouldnt matter much until people know you, right? I always wondered how to even get started without the big ones, as much as I hate it, dogpiling and auto-banning does scare me too. Being into "problematic" things doesn't help either haha. Thanks!

Dreamwidth. It's not super active, but there's fandom there, and the mod team actually looks at complaints instead of insta-banning.
If you're writing fanfic, a lot of the trick is to post to AO3 and not be highly interactive with readers on social media. It makes you less popular, but it also makes you infinitely less likely to get bullshit in your inbox.
Turn off anon everywhere. On AO3, archive-lock your works. Where possible, pick sites that have granular permissions, like letting this list of ten people see this post and that list of ten people see that one. Avoid sites with algorithms. Avoid sites that work via reblogging/tweeting and the like. Avoid virality.
Harassers tend to target popular users they are jealous of or targets they think they can easily hurt. Being less visible and having more of a "LOL, fuck off" attitude will repel many of them.

Earien/Isildur
I have totally let you all down by not giving more attention to Earien and Isildur, because their scenes are really cute and the relationship has a lot of potential.
Tumblr media
Anon: hello absolutely feral for someone to scream about how they made an OC sister in Rings of Power with a WIFELY intro and now I am AGAIN in a rabbit hole of brosis
Anon, I had the same thought when she was introduced. It was such a best-friend-who-is-love-interest type of moment, and would also be great for a married couple. I think you got the job done with your ask, but I thought I would take this opportunity to talk about these two a little more.
So for anyone didn't watch the show (and hasn't read Tolkien's writings about these characters), we're introduced to a family: Elendil, the father, is a somewhat prominent captain of the island kingdom Numenor. According to the lore, Isildur is the oldest son, and Anarion the youngest. (Anarion hasn't appeared in the show so far.) The mother, we learn later, drowned. (And apparently it was said in extras that she died saving Isildur from drowning.) And then there's Earien the daughter/sister, who was created for the show.
Isildur is sort of lost and isn't really sure what he wants for himself for the future. Apparently he was on track with the queen's guard, and doing something with the horses, and whatever else, and it all failed through things that were or were not his fault. (There's seems to be a lot of emphasis in Numenor on career paths, for some reason.) Anyway, when we first meet him, he's in training to follow his father into the navy, but he's not really happy about it. He and his fellow cadets have landed their boats on the beach and we're introduced to Earien. She comes out onto the beach, smiling at him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Isildur's gets such a big smile on his face and leaps up to greet her, and she's smiling back, holding out her arms to hug him, and then he walks right by her and we discover that he's just excited to see the horse, Berek, she brought with her. (He's seriously obsessed with this horse.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She takes it in stride. Isildur has two friends, and one of them comes over and flirts with her for a second, and then leaves the siblings alone.
I love this humorous moment, and the whole Isildur taking his sister for granted thing, too, because it just feels right. But let's also appreciate how excited Earien was to see him. She's walking towards him on the beach, huge smile on her face, holding out her arms to hug him.
It totally reminds me of friends who become love interests later. Or yeah, a husband coming home who is more excited to see the dog than his wife.
Then he asks her, “What are you doing here?” in such a brotherly tone, if you know what I mean. Rudely. Total sitcom sibling moment.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And Earien finally frowns back. Apparently Elendil was supposed to, I don't know, bring him a horse or be on the beach at that moment for some reason, but he was held up by the queen regent and Earien came instead. Isildur is so ungrateful.
We see them having dinner together later in the same episode. Elendil is excited about the trial that is coming up for Isildur that will see him promoted from cadet. As Elendil is talking, Earien is mouthing to Isildur to be honest with their father. They have a whole conversation with their eyes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Isildur tells his father that he wants to defer. First thing Elendil does is turn to Earien and ask her if she knew about this.
You can see how the conversation proceeds from there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think it's hilarious that Elendil expects Earien to tell him Isildur's secrets, but it's pretty meaningful that he expects that she knows them.
(Also, not to go off on a tangent, but I love this “we're parenting Isildur together” vibe between Elendil and Earien here. She also picked their child up from school when he got stuck at work.)
Anarion, the brother, apparently left on some mission to the “western shores” and Isildur has a yen to follow him. Isildur doesn't want to mention this as a reason why he wants to defer, but Earien spills the tea. But then she speaks up for him, when Elendil is reminding Isildur about some other training he was kicked out of, saying that it wasn't Isildur's fault. (We don't get the full story on that.)
Earien learns that she got accepted as an apprentice in the builder's guild in this scene. And she tells their father that Isildur was the one who encouraged her to reapply after she presumably did not get in the first time. So he can be a good brother sometimes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In Numenor there is tension between people who want to help the elves and people who don't. Elendil and Isildur fall on the side of wanting to help the elves, and Earien falls on the other side. We don't have any scenes where this comes up, but presumably it'll be important in their family in the future.
In the following episode (1x04), Isildur tanks his trial and accidentally gets his two friends kicked out as well, and they're furious with him. He's eating dinner alone and Earien comes upon him. He again is like, “What are you doing here?” in such an unappreciative way, but again she takes it in stride.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She tells him she was on a date and he's amused and warms up a little. I don't know, I get the impression from the way he speaks to her about it that she goes on a lot of dates. Anyway, she does have a love interest, but it doesn't ever feel like it gets in the way of shipping Isildur/Earien, though in the future it may be Earien/love interest against what is right for Middle Earth and Elendil and Isildur on that side, which is an interesting trajectory. I'm sure they must have a plan for her character, and this family is, of course, very important to the future of men in this world. I hope I'm not spoiling anyone, but it's from LOTR – Elendil becomes king of Gondor and Isildur after him and Isildur of course fights Sauron and gets the One Ring eventually, to his detriment. His wife is not named, but he definitely had one, because Aragorn is descended from him, and presumably not through a bastard. I don't know how far the show is allowed to take his story, they don't have the rights to a lot of stuff, but if we don't see him get married, it might well have been a loveless one made for political benefit.
Isildur is feeling guilty about what happened and says he doesn't deserve to go west the way he has wanted, and he adds that their father won't let him take the horse so of course he doesn't want to go, lol.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The queen regent decides to aid the elves and sends a few hundred men to the continent. Elendil goes and Isildur decides he wants to be a part of it as well and also goes.
As I mentioned, Earien is against it and tries to get her love interest to have it stopped by going through his father, who is the queen regent's cousin/head adviser. But that doesn't work out. We don't get too much insight into her reasoning. I think it's mostly protectiveness of her brother and father. But there are many on the island who feel like what's going on on the continent is not their problem. There's also this whole thing about turning against the elves that is not explained well at all.
There's a sort of parade as the soldiers are leaving and Earien sees Isildur and chases after him for a while. He smiles at her, excited, but she's crying.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I mean, presumably they said goodbye at home at some point but the scene isn't really portrayed that way. He wouldn't have smiled at her if he knew how upset she was and how much she opposed what was happening. Anyway, she's crying and it's SAD.
They depart in episode five out of a total of eight, and Isildur and Earien don't interact again. Isildur is presumed dead at the end of the season, but of course everyone knows from LOTR that he still has a lot ahead of him to do. But he may spend most of season 2, if not longer, away from Numenor. Will he ever go back? I don't know. But Elendil is headed back there, very much wondering if following Galadriel and aiding the Southlands was a mistake.
There is a lot of shipping potential in this family. Elendil/Isildur is a great ship. Elendil/Earien has stuff going for it. Isildur/Earien, obviously. And Isildur/Anarion is likely to be great, once they're reunited. And maybe Earien/Anarion will be great, who knows. I just hope Earien's career as a builder doesn't keep her back from being a part of all the stuff going on. I don't want her to be in Numenor the whole time while the others aren't. But like I already said, I'm sure they created the character with a purpose, they must have some plan for her.

Okay weird question:
If Bella was a mermaid... (stay with me)
And she and Edward met... (keep going)
She could turn Edward into a merman, (canceling his vampirism) or he could turn her into a vamp (canceling her mermaidism)... what would happen? Who would turn who?
(I swear to god I don't have a fic in mind, I just have a weird brain.)
I like how anon preemptively counters my "Anon, you clearly want to write a fic so go do it" response. Well played, anon, well played.
Shockingly, I think I have a fairly easy answer to this. Presuming we ignore how the fuck these two would even meet and what in the bananas is going on here.
Mermaid Wins
Oh, I'm sure Bella Swan is more than a little like Disney's The Little Mermaid's Ariel: I can see her desperately longing to be human in the sunlight, despising her appearance and thinking the worst of herself, and there's Edward literally glittering in the sun.
He is a god among men.
However, being a mermaid who, quite literally, doesn't get out much, I imagine Bella can't tell the difference between a vampire and a human.
They both have those leg things, don't they?
Edward may smell a little funny, and his flesh be hard as rocks, but he's just the shiny variety of human. I imagine Bella assumes he's a human prince or else a human further blessed by the gods.
And coming from a people who murders humans herself (depends what kind of mermaid Bella is here, anon) she, ah, wouldn't find that that weird. Or terrible.
She likes humans, sure, wants to be one but her people have a long history of singing them to their death.
But anyways, Edward, not being able to hear her thoughts. Probably is too awed by MERMAID to realize that Bella doesn't know he's not human. She's seen him in sunlight, he is a hideous monster! (That speech goes right over Bella's head, she thought he was talking about being human/not a mer person)
Then there comes the question. Does he clarify?
Unlike in Twilight, he's presumably in no danger of eating her. And she might swim away from him in disgust if she knew and...
Then he learns that she can turn him into a merman.
That he would be eternal, with her, and not a vampire.
He might not become human again, but he would be something that is not this grotesque crystalline ravenous gargoyle either. He would no longer thirst for human blood, his skin would be soft and opaque, he could live in the sunlight (alright so he'd have to hide in the ocean BUT HE COULD LIVE)
And Bella, sweet, wonderful, Bella, is his salvation.
He romantically tells her to turn him for he is willing to leave his entire life behind to live with her. Bella thinks this is so noble and tragic, that he'd leave all the joys and wonders of being human just for her (yes, he says, that's totally what I'm doing just now).
Edward turns into a mermaid.
... Then he angsts about being a fish person who still isn't human.
Caveat
Obviously, this depends on the pair being somewhat close to canon in terms of interest in one another. Bella might fall into the same boat as her canon self did for the same reasons, but Edward won't have Bella's scent. Her being so different could be lure enough but there's a large possibility of the shapeshifter effect: ew smell.
I honestly think that's the most likely and that Edward would view Bella much the way he does most shapeshifters in the series.
In which case, of course, neither would be turned into the other.
But at least Bella lives this time.

(It is I, the anon that sent faggot-friday an ask about I/P yesterday and a couple weeks ago) Ok hi I'm so sorry to keep sending you two anon asks but I do want to be clear about my intentions. I'd love to not use anon but I'm currently finding it somewhat frightening to express uncertainty using my actual account. I do hope you understand but it is also completely acceptable if you'd like me to ask other people instead. I just happen to follow the two of you and you both post about this topic a lot.
For context, I'm Israeli, Jewish and queer myself. I'm struggling to figure out where my priorities are and what is actually happening, because much of the information everywhere feels extremely distorted. The specific ask I'd sent faggot-friday intended to see how Westerners view the term Free Palestine, as to me it means the eradication of every individual living between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean ocean as per Hamas policy. I figured the Western world must not view it the same way to protest for it so strongly — that, or they do not understand what they're protesting for.
I once again apologise if my asks are untoward. I don't believe any responses from singular individuals represent the entire larger demographic. I don't have any ill intentions and will stop sending anons if either or both of you wish me to. Um, yeah. Have a good day? Not sure how to sign this off
Hi anon! I completely understand not wanting to send asks using your actual account, since I know firsthand what it's like to be Jewish and post about i/p on tumblr dot com (hint: it invites a lot of harassment).
I think your concerns are extremely valid- there is a lot of distorted information, and a lot of people protesting for Palestine (accidentally?) end up regurgitating antisemitism. That being said, I definitely don't view Free Palestine as a call to eradicate every Jew living in the region, and most people feel similarly (at least the people I choose to surround myself with).
In my experience receiving anonymous asks about i/p, it has always been random strangers interrogating me about my opinions, with the clear knowledge that I will be harassed if I say something they don't like. I wanted to make sure Achilles wasn't in the same boat, but now that I know the context, I know that's not the case. You didn't do anything wrong, I just misinterpreted the situation.
I hope you have a good day too :)

Ace Anon back! Here's another idea dump for free! I'm really glad you liked the first one :)
*The Miller Accident*
-When the Miller family begin acting strange , only to go out into the ocean in the middle of the night , their neighbor Jude Murray calls the police in fear that the worst might happen . Ruth and Thatcher are sent to investigate , and on the family's boat they only find the daughter , Evelin , crying for her parents . Then what sounds like the voice of Evelin's father is heard below the water screaming for help . Thatcher then tells Ruth to stay on the boat and watch over the little girl , while he goes underwater to help Mr and Mrs Miller . Instead of finding the couple , he only finds a monster already waiting for him . It lunges at him and bites him in his neck , but he's able to fend it off with his pocket knife . With a bleeding wound he swims towards the surface , yelling for Ruth to take the kid and escape . Ruth refuses to leave him like that , but as the monster approaches again , Thatcher uses all his arm strenght to push the boat towards land , with the wind going the same direction , leading Ruth and Evie back to coast quick . The last time Ruth saw Thatcher alive was just seconds before he's pulled underwater again , blood loss making him too weak to fight off properly this time .
-Thatcher's bloodied coat is found the next morning on the beach , along with a chunck of his hair and a blue rose . The rest of the police write it down as a shark attack and of desecration against his dead body by a vandal . Ruth quit her position in the force after that , and Jude moved away to Werksha .
-To somewhat keep her personality and because maybe she'll isolate herself in the lighthouse too , I'll say that she'd find her biggest personal comfort in making sure that as many people as possible stay safe while she can help it , people like survivors of attacks in the sea and her daughter . It's what keeps her going , knowing that she is helping people keep living . Though I kind of see Ruth having a much stronger mental fortitude than Thatcher , so maybe her lighthouse isolation was something gradual , over the years she just started going outside less other than for necessity and physical interactions with other people became shorter .
-About Alt!Ruth , maybe she also whistles Amazing Grace because perhaps that's one of Ruth's daughter's favourite songs . No ideas for this nasty fish , I think we can keep that it's normal Sub Alt!Thatcher just gender-bent .
-Whenever Thatcher's ghost appears , Ruth screams or at least nearly does every time . It's not just that he's bleeding from the head because a chunck of his hair was ripped out , not just that a chunck of his neck is missing from where the monster bit him and later finished the job . It's that chuncks of ALL of his body are missing . He has a look of surrender in his face most of the time , but whenever he smiles for Ruth , it's genuine pride for her .
Sorry it took so much longer to send this one to you . Stuff in life , you know? I did check your answers on Submandela after my first idea dump , but I didn't want to change what I had already written , hope it's not a problem
Oooooo! I actually like the idea of Ruth's isolation being gradual instead of instant like Thatcher's, also his death and ghost OOF

Re: the anon with the reconnecting partner: I feel like I'm in a somewhat similar situation? I know what reservation/clan I'm from but the family I grew up with is on bad terms with my reservation family, and they've done all they can to distance us from that tradition. Reaching out would cause trouble that I can't afford to start. But I can't afford to let it go, either; none of us can. We're all enduring a genocide... I don't know the old traditions because *they were stolen from me*. Right now, for me, "reconnecting" looks like donations to people who CAN carry on the traditions. I give as much as I can to the water protectors and wildlife restoration, I buy native art, I read books about the family, and I'm learning to quilt... I don't know if I will ever have anyone to share this knowledge with, but I will try. And I hope that in generations to come, native children grow up joyfully without this problem because of the work I've put in, even if I never get to see any of them. I am lonely. I wonder if I have any right to go to the powwow or remember the old prayers (or even call myself native for that matter). But I have an obligation to make sure SOMEBODY remembers and teaches others to know the culture well... it doesn't fill the hole in my heart but it helps. I don't know if this is helpful. But I want you to know you're not alone
maybe we can dm if you would like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ company can be nice
So, I am very lucky in many ways; I know my tribe and my family. That is not to say that it is perfect or that there isn't work to be done. I feel that disconnection. I grew up off the rez and in general public school, so I struggle (and still struggle a bit) with the idea of Not deserving to call myself native. Thoughts like 'I don't look native enough, act native enough', etc. Hell, I even know my "blood quantum". But, let me tell you that it's all bullshit. That doubt is colonialism in action, working through us. That is what they wanted. I don't know you but you say you are looking for your culture, and you give back to your community, and you are looking out for the next generation and the land..Those are all indigenous values. I came to understand that being native is more like an action--it is how you live your life and yes, your community and culture is a part of that but it is in your very values and what you do with them.
You should absolutely go to powwow!! You have every right. Natives of all different kinds show up there (and non natives do too). It's meant for those kinds of connections. Look out for any local native groups too. The group I'm a part of has all different tribes and people who are pretty much in the same boat as you; the vague knowledge and yearning to connect. That would be a great way to meet others in similar situations to yours and get advice.
As for prayers, I would say that is between you and the creator and the other spirits and our ancestors. No one can take that from you. I understand fearing getting the specific prayers, and ceremonies and stuff right. There is so much power in our spirituality. But, I've been taught that what matters most is intent--speak your prayers with your heart and be honest. (It also helps to try and learn your language).
Sure, DM me!--but be warned that I can be terrible at keeping up conversations lol

i’m not a fan of mattlucie either people hype that up so much but it still would’ve had drama just like all the couples have now because lucie barely tolerated matthew at times, cordelia is a bit softer with him it seems honestly.
i remember how annoyed and irritated lucie got over matthew in cog and choi, i guess people mainly ship them due to gotsm? idk but i’m glad it didn’t sail, her and jesse are super cute and balance eachother well. he’s a bit more mature for reasons you mentioned and she’s a bit naive, he’s a hopeless romantic and so is she. the age gap is bleh but they’re too cute for me to care. i could never see her with matthew and i don’t think it’d be as popular as her and jesse are or as romantic.
ghostwriter does have familial relations down the line a bit but for some reason since kit is james’ first cousin (cecilys son james’ aunt, like..wills sisters child) and his bestfriend that’s always been apart of his merry thieves group it just makes it inappropriate. i hope we don’t see kit catching feelings bc i don’t know how i’ll feel about that..
i totally agree with you anon! very well thought out :D
i definitely am in the same boat as you regarding grace and christopher. debate over if they themselves are cousins or not aside, it would definitely be an insult to james and very unlike christopher to betray his friends and family. he's portrayed as a very loyal friend, brother, son, and cousin
at most, i think christopher might stand up for grace for whatever reason and i am fine with that because it aligns with his characterization but i'll be annoyed if he catches feelings
as far as ghostwriter, yes! i think both their hopeless romanticism is what really makes them work well together. it balances out the differences they do have because at the end of the day, they do really care about each other, even if lucie is stubborn and brash and jesse is hesitant and (somewhat) easily frustrated
ghostwriter is pretty close to being my gabrily of the last hours series. i just think they mirror cecily and gabriel in many ways. especially lucie to cecily - them herondale genes fr
i find the "love triangle" between james, matt, and cordelia tired and boring and annoying. i wish we got much more of the others in canon, but i suppose that is what us fic writers are here for
anyways, i digress. thanks for your perspective, anon! here's to manifesting good things for ghostwriter

Hey baby girl
I am so sorry you are having such a tough time, I'm somewhat in the same boat (however nothing compared to the heartache of having these deadline keep hitting you). Just wanted to let you know the fact you work more than full-time and do adult things and write and answer anons and feed yourself is truly amazing, life gurus are quaking. I offer myself up as tribute for any frustration you have and I think morally, ethically, legally, I am ready to be stepped on in the name of healing.

i really think Ed and Stede could rock the two miserable people meeting at a wedding au
Anon you are SO right and this was such a fun prompt, thank you!
***
Sometime during the night, Ed found himself sitting at an otherwise empty table, head resting on his fist, eyes glazing over as he stared blankly at a dancefloor full of people he didn’t know doing the Macarena.  He wasn’t sure what he’d expected from the evening, but this was somehow worse.  He was just preparing to cut his losses and get the hell out of there, when he was startled by a voice uncomfortably close to his ear.
“Bride or groom?”
Barely resisting flinching in alarm, he turned to face the man who was speaking to him.  “What?” he asked, hoping the mild aggression in his tone conveyed that he didn’t appreciate a stranger getting that close to his face, no matter how loud the music was.
“Are you here for the bride or the groom?” the man clarified, either completely oblivious to Ed’s aggression, or entirely unfazed by it.
“Oh,” Ed responded, admittedly on the back foot now.  “Uh.  I don’t know, groom I think.”  At the man’s quizzical look, he explained “I’m someone’s date but they’ve fucked off.”
“Ah,” the man said, giving a sympathetic nod.
Ed expected that to be the end of that rather short-lived conversation, but the next thing he knew, the man was sitting down next to him.  Again: at this whole, entire, empty table, he chose the seat right next to Ed.  Either he had no sense of boundaries, or was just as pathetically alone at this wedding as Ed was, and was trying to connect with someone just as miserable.  Maybe that wasn’t a bad idea.  Looking the man over, Ed took in his blue suit, floral tie, and ridiculously wavy blond hair.  He was obviously harmless, and relatively cute.  And while Ed wasn’t doing anything better, he might as well make some effort to pass the time.  And so, he braced himself for the inevitable risks that came from making conversation with a stranger, and asked “what about you?”
The man’s face lit up, clearly delighted that Ed was returning the question, and Ed had to wonder how many people he’d tried this with already who had completely blanked him.  “Bride,” he said.  After a moment’s pause, he added, “she’s actually my ex-wife.”
If he had hoped to entice Ed into further conversation with that statement, he’d damn well succeeded.  “What the fuck are you doing at her wedding then?” he asked, not sure he’d be able to face being in the same room as one of his exes for more than five minutes.
“Well, we’re on good terms now, sort of,” the man shrugged.  “And I’m really very happy for her.”
“Yeah, sure you are,” Ed replied, a grin forming on his face.  “Did you at least bring a hot date, make her jealous?”
“Ah, no,” the man responded, looking down.  “I’m going stag, as they say.”
Ed shook his head slowly.  “That’s pretty grim, mate.”
“Well, looks like we’re both in the same boat,” the man pointed out, and Ed couldn’t deny that.  “I’m Stede, by the way.”
“Ed.”
“Pleased to meet you,” Stede replied, and he seemed to genuinely mean it.  He looked out at the dancefloor, where you could now observe a group of drunken adults performing the Cha Cha Slide.  “Where did you say your date was?” he asked, as if hoping to spot them in the crowd despite not even knowing what they looked like.
“No idea,” Ed shrugged.  “Haven’t seen him in about half an hour.”  Probably fucking someone in the bathroom, he thought to himself.  Must be nice.
“Why are you still here?” Stede asked in disbelief.  “At least I’m somewhat obliged to be here, you don’t even know anyone – you could have left by now.”
“Yeah, well, I was hoping I’d be getting laid tonight,” Ed stated, since that was the only reason he’d ever think to attend a wedding with a guy he barely knew.
“Dare to dream,” Stede responded wryly, his amused expression no doubt in response to the fact that Ed had been very much abandoned by the very person he was supposed to be getting laid with.
Ed folded his arms defensively.  “Point is, I was giving up on that plan ‘til you appeared,” he said, and then realised how that sounded.  “I mean.  I was gonna leave.  Then you started talking to me.  So I didn’t leave.”
“Well, don’t let me keep you,” Stede replied, again either not picking up on what Ed had accidentally implied, or being too polite to bring it up.  “But if you do want to stay a little longer…”  He paused, and then smiled.  “Can I get you a drink?”
Ed took another look at him.  This man, with his eager smiles and relentless chatter, was either extremely friendly, or hoping to get laid himself.  It was surprisingly difficult to tell which.  Still, Ed thought: if Stede wasn’t going to make his ex-wife jealous, then Ed might as well attempt to make his date jealous.  And so, he smiled right back at him and said: “abso-fucking-lutely.”
(Now up on ao3!)
