History of Yoga
Tumblr media
Yoga is an ancient practice that involves physical poses, concentration, and deep breathing.
The first mention of the word “yoga” appears in Rig Veda, a collection of ancient texts. Yoga comes from the Sanskrit word “yuj,” which means “union” or “to join.”
Yoga can be traced back to northern India over 5,000 years ago.
Indian monks spread their knowledge of yoga in the West during the late 1890s. Modern yoga teachings became widely popular in Western countries by the 1970s.

Tasa drashtuh svarūpe 'vasthānam- (1:3) patanjali yog sutra
Meaning - this sutra explains the meaning of 'yoga' according to patanjali, as the objective or end. The word 'tadā' = then, thus means, 'at the time the vrittis of citta are brought to a complete stand still'. What is achieved in this condition is return back of the seer principle in its original pristine (suddha) state.

This comprehensive training hones their skills, promoting inclusivity and empowering them to create well-rounded, therapeutic yoga experiences for their students.✨🧘‍♀️
How is it different from Hatha-Ashtanga TTC?:
Yin yoga teacher training stands apart from traditional Hatha and Ashtanga teacher training programs due to its focus on long-held, passive poses that target connective tissues. While Hatha and Ashtanga emphasize active postures and flow, Yin delves into deep relaxation, enhancing flexibility and joint mobility. This specialized training equips teachers with unique tools for therapeutic and meditative practices, enriching their teaching.🧑‍🏫☯️ . . Kirtana, also rendered as Kirtan or Keertan, is a Sanskrit word that means "narrating, reciting, telling, describing" of an idea or story, specifically in Indian religions. It also refers to a genre of religious performance arts, connoting a musical form of narration or shared recitation, particularly of spiritual or religious ideas, native to the Indian subcontinent.
With roots in the Vedic anukirtana tradition, a kirtan is a call-and-response style song or chant, set to music, wherein multiple singers recite or describe a legend, or express loving devotion to a deity, or discuss spiritual ideas. It may include dancing or direct expression of bhavas by the singer. Many kirtan performances are structured to engage the audience where they either repeat the chant, or reply to the call of the singer. . Vedic Havan Ceremony at Shambhuh Yoga Rishikesh, India.
In Vedic Hinduism, a home (Sanskrit: होम) also known as havan, is a fire ritual performed on special occasions by a Hindu priest usually for a homeowner ("grihastha": one possessing a home). A home is sometimes called a "sacrifice ritual" because the fire destroys the offering, but a home is more accurately a "votive ritual".The fire is the agent, and the offerings include those that are material and symbolic such as grains, ghee, milk, incense, and seeds.
