Intentar encontrar el amor y confiar en alguien, es uno de mis mayores miedos. Porque tengo miedo de acertar y caer ante alguien. De sentir y entregar todo de mí, y que al final no sea genuino.

Yo La Tengo - Winter a Go-Go (2003)
A song for the first day of winter - that keyboard reminds me of something off More Specials.
Yet I'm helpless to do anything for you

Yo La Tengo - Radio 3, Barcelona, Spain, April 1995
Can it be that I'm finally seeing Yo La Tengo again this weekend? Twice?!!! It's been way too long since the band made it out to my part of the world — and even these shows were delayed from last year due to Georgia Hubley's knee surgery. But if the various tapes of YLT's 2023 Hanukkah run tell me anything, Georgia is as powerful (if not more powerful) than ever. Big Days Coming!
“If anyone’s tempted to go to both nights, I guarantee they will be extremely different from a song-choice perspective,” Ira Kaplan told the Boulder Weekly this week. “Except for perhaps a couple songs from This Stupid World, we likely won’t repeat any of the old songs. We’re going to treat Boulder and Fort Collins like one long night at two locations.”
Hell yeah. It's been awhile since I did two nights in a row with Yo La Tengo ... I did it in NYC in 1997 ... and I did it in Santa Monica in 1995. (Holy christ, I am old.) As a little prep, let's listen to two songs from Spanish radio back in '95 — just Georgia and Ira and an acoustic guitar here, sounding perfect, as they play stripped-down versions of the Electr-O-Pura faves "The Ballad of Red Buckets" and "Blue Line Swinger." Here it comes again ...

SO. Here’s a bit of news.
If you’re into indie pop, you have beloved '90s British band Heavenly to thank. They were definitely a huge influence on our songs.
Their 1992 album “Le Jardin du Heavenly” is a total classic, and it’s finally getting a vinyl version here in 2023. One of the most-loved songs on the album is “C is the Heavenly Option,” featuring guest vocals from Calvin Johnson of Beat Happening and K Records fame.
Heavenly wanted to make a music video for the song’s vinyl release, and since there wasn’t a lot of 1992 footage to go around, they asked some of their friends to help.
Including, um, us.
So, enjoy this sentence we never thought I’d write: Check out this new Heavenly video featuring The Crystal Furs!
(As well as a ton of other artists like Bis, BMX Bandits, Bratmobile, Even As We Speak, Jetstream Pony, the Just Joans, The Magnetic Fields, Yo La Tengo, and more!?!?)

12/13/23.
The Special Pillow (Hoboken, New Jersey) first caught my ear about a week ago. I listened and perused the Bandcamp page. I noticed that first, the band is from Hoboken. Then I noticed they don't look like a particularly young band. The band sounds as if they've been making music for some time. Then I noticed that they thanked none other than Yo La Tengo.
Turns out members of The Special Pillow have been in some heavyweight indie bands - Hypnolovewheel and Sleepyhead. But the current sound is closer to The No Ones, I Was A King and, at times, the aforementioned Yo La Tengo.
All of their releases but one have been released by zofko. I'm guessing a band member runs the label as it only releases The Special Pillow.
