It's webcomicday! I make those!
NAMESAKE -  is about saving the universe while improvising with portal & phenomenal cosmic powers, necromancy, and a literature degree.
Emma Crewe doesn’t care for books, but has the power to literally be lost in one.
When Emma lands in another world following a library fire, she discovers she’s a Namesake — one with the power to open portals to other worlds via the power of their name: strange, fantasy, and fairy-tale lands we know thanks to literature, cinema, and folks tales. The rules of Namesakes are quite clear - Alices always go to Wonderland. Wendys always go to Neverland. However, Emma finds herself in Oz, where she is expected to act as the latest in a long line of Dorothies. She instead unveils a magical conspiracy plot that’s more than 100 years in the making.
While Emma is stumbling down the Yellow Brick Road, her younger sister Elaine discovers she’s a Writer — one gifted with the power to make stories come to life. Will Elaine be her sister’s key back home?
Aided by magic-wielding twins from Oz, a half-Cheshire Alice, a devilishly charming Jack, a sword-wielding Lost Girl, a hungry card soldier, and a confused Canadian, Emma must walk through many stories to find everyone’s happy ending.

Tara Carpenter x Fem Reader
Summary: Tensions rise as two of your friends are found in a suspicious position.
Warnings: Mentions of violence, angst
Word Count: 2.7k
A/N: I’m sorry if this sucks…writing this chapter sucked the life out of me.
Tumblr media
Sitting in the ambulance doesn’t feel right.
You don’t think you deserve to be here, getting taken care of; while the rest of the gang goes on searching for clues. You lean against the van door, struggling to keep your eyes open.
You can’t bear to watch as the police lift Ethan’s body and wheel him into their black van.
You’re so tired that you can’t even cry.
You turn and bury yourself in the crook of Tara’s neck, trying to distract yourself with her warmth, her smell, her. She hasn’t left your side for a second since the paramedics arrived, and she doesn’t seem to mind you clinging desperately onto her either.
It might be how exhausted you are, or the fact that her comfort makes you feel so safe, it lulls you to sleep quickly.
It feels like a blink of an eye before you’re getting woken up to the sound of Sam interrogating Anika and Mindy.
“Found them just a couple minutes ago, they were knocked out,” Tara whispers to you, reading your face in the blink of an eye and knowing exactly what you were going to ask.
You inspect the pair carefully. They look like they’ve been through it.
Along with red marks all over her arms, Mindy has a little scrape of peeled skin at the top of her head.
Anika’s looks even worse.
There’s a huge purple-ish green-ish bump just right above her eyebrow. It’s in the shape of a perfect rectangle like someone had tried to knock her out with a brick.
“Where have you guys been?” Sam’s asking, sort of calm but sort of rough at the same time. There’s no doubt there is an underlying tone of suspicion in her voice.
Mindy sighs heavily, seeing right through the fake calm facade Sam’s putting on.
“Sam, we swear we do not know anything.” She’s saying, eyes wide. “We saw Ghostface coming, we ran! And the next thing you know we both got knocked out. I mean, look at the wound Sam. I know Ghostfaces have done this before, the whole hurt yourself thing. But I swear. Please, Sam.”
She looks put-together, all things considered. But Mindy’s always been one of those people, she goes through life swiftly; with nothing on her mind except for obscure indie horror films and her girlfriend.
She doesn’t sound like she’s lying, you’ll give her that.
“So you just left Danny alone?” Sam asks, clearly not as persuaded as you are.
Anika breathes loud, a sound of growing impatience.
“We were being chased. I’m sorry Sam but if it was between Mindy and Danny there’s no way I’m picking your boyfriend.” She explains, waving her hands wildly. “And we don’t even know if he’s Ghostface.” She ends, the last statement said in nothing but a hushed whisper.
Sam can’t say much about that. She breathes heavily, very much resembling the look of an angry dragon as she stands; towering.
You snuggle into Tara, deciding that you in fact do not want to be a part of this conversation.
She looks down at you and smiles, pressing a soft kiss to your forehead. Then she’s wrapping her arms around you and slipping a hand in your back pocket.
She wiggles around in there a moment before you feel her fish something out and shift away from you slightly, smiling.
“Now what’s this?” She’s whispering teasingly, quiet laughter shaking her body.
You crane your neck to look at it, but all you see is a backside of a tiny piece of paper, all yellow and old looking.
Paper? You don’t remember having paper in there.
Tara stills as she reads it, her heartbeat under you quickening at a rapid pace.
“What is it, babe?” You question, tightening your grip around her waist.
She tilts her whole body to show you what’s written on the paper.
Scribbled crazily on the note in thick red liquid, are five words.
NITEHALK CINEMA - TONIGHT. BE THERE.
You stare at it for a long time, like if you looked at it hard enough it’ll dissolve into thin air. The words look almost anthropomorphic, threatening to jump out and grab you by the neck.
“Huh.” You state, turning to blankly stare at Tara. She blinks back at you, obviously also taken aback.
You guys have a silent conversation until Tara carefully untangles herself from you and makes her way toward the older Carpenter.
You see her hand Sam the paper, all eyebrows furrowed and soft voices. Sam snatches it from her, but your view gets blocked off when a paramedic comes to stand in front of you.
You eye her a little wearily, confused as to why she’s standing there.
“Hey, hon.” She says, eyes crinkling at the sides when she smiles. She has some age, you can tell, but she still looks youthful and full of life.
You relax, almost melting at her term of endearment.
You were always a sucker for one of those. Especially if they were coming from an attractive middle-aged woman.
You quirk an eyebrow, signaling that she can keep speaking.
“So, I had a quick look at the wound on your stomach there. You’ve got an infection, sweetheart. It’s nothing to worry about if you get to the hospital immediately.” She tells you, sternly.
An infection?
You open your mouth to answer her, tell her that there’s no way in hell you have enough time to do that, but Tara’s heading back before you can say a thing; and you mumble a quick, “Don’t tell her anything.”
Because the last thing you need is Tara fussing over you when there should be Ghostface hunting to do.
“So what happened?” You ask your girlfriend, grabbing and positioning her so she’s standing in between your legs.
She doesn’t say a thing about it, but you see the blush start forming.
“We’re going to the damn theater together, and we’ll end the motherfucker. Once and for all.” Tara says and then tilts her head to the side, eyes flirting between you and the paramedic as if she’s just realizing she’s here. “Everything okay?”
You cut in quickly, shooting the paramedic a look and wrapping an arm around her waist for reassurance.
“Everything’s great.” You smile.
-
“Aren’t we rushing into this kind of fast? Like..why are we going to a random place Ghostface clearly wants us to go to?” Chad asks, his voice betraying his fear for the whole plan.
You’ll admit, it was a sort of sudden decision, even for you.
As soon as Tara showed Sam that paper, Sam turned into an animal. Asking for papers from the medical staff still around and gathering all of you to listen to her new plan; excluding Anika and Mindy.
“Seriously?” Anika’s saying, right after Sam informed her that they weren’t invited to listen in.
Sam doesn’t relent, just stares her down with those fiery eyes she only has reserved for situations like these.
“If you want me to believe you, you’ll have no problem staying out of this,” Sam says, nodding matter-of-factly.
“Well, I don’t want to be kept out of the loop and die.” Anika mumbles, but backs down nevertheless; walking back to join Mindy dejectedly on the sidewalk.
Now, you guys are stuffed into Sam’s van, ready to take on the weirdo in the white mask once again.
Funny, this is giving me déjà vu.
But after Sam’s monologue last night, where the older carpenter had talked about sacrificing herself, it seemed to ignite a fire deep in you; one that still wanted to fight.
You know you’re not the only one who’s feeling this way.
One quick glance at the gang and you can tell everyone’s feeling motivated. You can only hope it lasts so long.
Well, everyone except Chad.
You contemplate reaching over and gripping his hand for support, but wonder if it’ll be weird because you haven’t exactly had the best relationship with him, but decide fuck it, we’re friends, and do it anyway. He sends you a nervous but supportive smile back.
Sitting still hurts. Any kind of movement only worsens the pain. It’s like the conversation with the paramedic opened your eyes because you can feel every little thing bothering you now.
By the time you guys get to the theater, your anxiety’s at an all-time high.
Beads of perfectly shaped droplets fall from your forehead at a rapid pace, and your heart feels like it’s up in your throat.
You push open the doors and try to quell your fears by acting brave. The facade disappears immediately when you see what’s in the theater.
You pale.
It’s a shrine. A goddamn shrine of Ghostface.
“Well isn’t this nice? Ghostface has a fan.” Tara mumbles, pushing past you to see further in.
Everyone slowly files in and looks around curiously, murmuring soundlessly between pairs.
You sway as you walk further in, head whirling. You stumble and hit a glass box, and you have to grip it to steady yourself.
You stare at Sam unloading the big black bag shed packed full of weapons from just last night, getting prepared.
It doesn’t help with the haziness. You need to get your mind off this shit…you need something. Your head drops to peer inside the glass box.
You think your heart literally stops when you see the collection of pictures, paintings, a summarized biography, and a bloody knife. A familiar photo makes your breath hitch.
Stu Macher : The Second Ever Ghostface
You blink. Try and steady your heartbeat by closing your eyes and sucking in a deep breath.
Just when you feel like you’re about to pass out, Tara steps up beside you, putting a hand on your back to help steady you.
“You okay?” She whispers, a concerned expression painting her features.
You look down at her, flash her a tight-lipped smile.
“Yeah.” You try and say with as much positivity as you can muster.
She sees right through it, frowning so big you’d think you’d just told her you were Ghostface.
“I know when you lie to me.” She says pointedly, pouting.
You sigh, it’s no use to lie.
“No, I’m not doing great currently, but that’s not our top priority here Tar.” You murmur softly.
She punches you in the arm, with all the power of a marshmallow bouncing off you and crosses her arms.
“It’s a priority to me.” She huffs.
You raise an eyebrow. Tara wasn’t one to give you words of affirmation, but whenever she would, she’d get adorably shy.
She’s not this time. She’s standing tall and sure of herself, staring at you like if she lets her eyes off you for even a second you’ll run away.
You contemplate telling her about what the paramedic said.
You should, you know that, but you don’t want to worry her more than she already is.
She’s tired too, you can tell. It shows through the dark circles beneath her eyes and the way her hair is just a little more ruffled than usual.
Tomorrow I will, you think. After all this is over.
You settle for wrapping your arms around her and whispering an I love you in her ear.
Tara stills, obviously surprised at your confession. It surprises you too. You guys had never really said it before, even though you’re sure the both of you felt it.
“Um..I’m sorry. It just sort of came out, you don’t need to say it back. I understand.” You say quickly, sheepishly.
Tara quells your fears with a kiss, full of passion and urgency.
It feels like it always does, so goddamn dreamy. Her and her kisses never fail to send you straight into cloud 9.
When you pull back, you’re a little dazed.
“Well…okay.” You say, smiling goofily.
Her expression matches yours, albeit a little more composed. Her red cheeks and neck don’t fool you though.
“I love you too….idiot.” She says, adding the last bit to help put her racing heart at ease.
You snicker and shake your head. Your eyes drop down to the box again, but you don’t feel nearly as bad anymore.
“Man, I’m related to that guy? He looks like an alien dog.” You whine, only sort of half joking.
Tara chuckles heartedly and pats your back softly.
“He kinda does.” She murmurs.
“What does that mean…are you saying I look like that too?” You question, eyes wide and piercing, trying to look intimidating. To Tara, you look like a lost puppy.
“I never said that.” She quips, smirking. She’s teasing you.
“Yeah, but you didn’t rebut me so I’m led to believe you agree.” You press, forming your lips into a pout.
She reaches out to try and wipe it away, but you tilt your head; trying to fight for some semblance of control here.
She tries again, leaning to grab your face and kiss you, but you swerve as quickly as possible, a small part of you a little sad at the act.
The part that wants you to win this “argument” is bigger though. And it takes control once again.
“Nuh-uh. No kisses until you admit I don’t look like an alien dog and that I’m actually mighty gorgeous.” You say, proud smile; sure you’ve won.
“Oh really?” Tara smirks, leaning back until her back is pressed against the box and your hands on both sides of her waist.
She calls your bluff. “I don’t think you’d be able to take it; not kissing me.”
You have to bite back a gulp at her boldness.
God this girl was going to be the death of you.
You challenge her, happy to have your beloved banter with your girlfriend back.
“Funny…I vaguely remember you being the one who couldn’t keep her hands
to herself for a second. And who was the one that was so impatient the first time we had sex she tripped over and landed face first into the mat?” You tease, watching Tara’s cheeks heat up.
“Hey! We promised not to talk about that.” She grumbles, disregarding her bet from 5 seconds ago and tilting up to meet your lips.
You smile against her lips, victorious.
When she sees it, she huffs slightly, mouth still connected to yours.
“Whatever.” She says, pulling back.
“Guys!” Sam’s voice booms through the theater, echoing a couple of times before fading out.
Creepy.
“Get over here! Safety in numbers, remember? Who knows where Ghostface is? For all we know, he’s already in here watching us.” She continues to yell, watching as you and Tara saunter over; hand in hand.
Her words send chills down your body, and you’re suddenly aware again of your beating heart.
You look behind Sam, seeing multiple Ghostface mannequins standing tall. It’s scary how much eeriness some pieces of fabric can create.
“Well, isn’t this a dainty place to be having our conversation?” You chuckle nervously, turning your head to the left, then the right; where you see nothing but all 9 Ghostface mannequins from the Stab franchise, or in this nightmare reality, real life.
“Can you just shut-“ Sam begins, obviously done with your bullshit attempts at lightening the mood.
The lights turn off in the theater all at once, leaving you guys in complete darkness; all stunned.
“Up.” Sam finishes, and you can already hear her feet start to shuffle as she looks and grabs around.
You feel her rough hands as she grabs at your wrist and pulls, too hard for your liking.
“Sam- Could you be a little gentler please?” You huff, trying to weasel your way out her grip.
“What are you talking about?” Sam voices, but it feels kind of far away from you. The grip around your hand suddenly feels weighted. “I’m not touching you Y/N.”
Before you can react, the hand is coming up to your mouth and pressing hard, muffling any sounds that’ll come out.
“YN? Baby? What’s going on?” Tara asks, worry seeping through her words.
You try and scream, or say anything, but the sound dies in your throat when you realize there’s something pressed against your nose.
It’s a cloth: a smelly one at that. You realize what it is immediately, all those true crime documentaries finally coming in handy. Chloroform.
The fumes are practically shoved up your nose, and you feel your knees buck underneath you.
Fuck, Tara.
You wiggle and thrash around, but nothing works, the chemical’s doing its job, because in the next second; you’re gone.

It really only occurred to you now how silly you must look; a cardboard knight walking in stride with a 1994 movie character in bell bottoms, connected by a thin white wire.
Tongue Tied by GROUPLOVE played over your earbuds while you walked over the New York sidewalk. It was an eerily familiar song for the city, you found yourself able to relax a little as you walked in silence despite the car horns, sirens and city chatter. And of course, your buzzing nerves. Can't forget those, even if you wanted to as the alcohol no longer was fluttering in your brain.
“You know, this song…” you speak up to say something about the song but shrug it off.
You felt him watching you as you pulled your phone out of your pocket looking for a different song “…nevermind, forget about it” you chicken out.
“Trying to forget anything as intriguing as this would be an exercise in futility” he smiles softly and you look at him with a growing smile.
“Did you just quote my character back at me,” you say, sounding shocked and he grins down at you.
“Maybe,” he shrugs cooly.
You laugh into the crisp night air “okay you did say you were a fan too, right?” You ask and he nods, the yellow streetlight illuminating his face as you walk by.
“Tell me about what you were going to say, I’d like to hear” he prods a little “if you’re comfortable with it.”
You purse your lips as you bring back memories of mere months ago “this song is the one I relate the most to moving here. When I got lost trying to find my way back to my dorm from some sushi place. I had to call Anika to come save me, she was more upset I didn't invite her to get sushi.”
A slight laugh escaped his mouth as he looked down at you “was this the first or second time you got lost?”
“Second,” you murmur grinning at your feet watching your bell bottoms glide along as you avoid mysterious puddles, “The first was with my parents when I was little.”
He raises a fluffy eyebrow wanting to hear more.
“It’s not that interesting…” you trail off embarrassed “I eventually found a spider-man that helped me find my parents”
As your eyes trail over him you take notice of his dark, long sleeved shirt underneath his costume framing his torso. Really, underneath his nerdy demeanor he had an attractive frame.
He licks his tongue along his teeth as he smiles, the points of his canines pointing sharply. You wonder what it would be like to push him against the brick storefront wall, pressing your tongue into his mouth then and there. Tasting him, breathing him in. Your body pressed into his cardboard armour, his hands at your waist, fingers tangled in your shirt and-
“So did he charge you?” Ethan speaks oblivious to your thoughts.
“Huh?” You ask, cheeks red in embarrassment.
“The spider-man,” He laughs, “like how they try to charge you $20 for a photo with a costume they bought at Spirit Halloween.”
“Probably Walmart” you smile back at him “No, thankfully he didn’t charge the 6 year old. Unemployment is pretty rough on that age group.”
“It’s a real shame. Must’ve traumatised you from some great movies.” Ethan put his hands in his pockets as you stopped, just now realising that you made it to the theatre.
“Actually, Spider-Man’s probably my favourite superhero. I loved New York as a kid, they had tons of them here. I knew they weren’t real but,” you realised you were rambling as you stood outside the entrance to the cinema.
Ethan looks down at you intently though, prodding you along, eyes beaming through the invisible mask, the real him filled with wonder and amusement.
Don’t leave me tongue tied, the song hums.
“But it was fun to watch the movies, it made me feel like I had my own hero that looked out for me. Even just to find my parents,” he nodded with a genuine smile.
Don’t wave no goodbye,
“I get it. I like that story. For me, I just used to watch it with my brother all of the time.” Suddenly as he reaches the end of his sentence his face recedes back behind the mask, as if hiding away from you behind some dark shadow.
Don’t, the song trails off.
You decide not to prod but change the subject “anyways, do you know if any dogs are killed in this one?”
The corner of his mouth twists upward as you walk up to the lady selling tickets. He shakes his head, curls bobbing “No, I don’t know unfortunately. I’ve been avoiding spoilers like the plague.”
“Uninstalled Twitter for that very reason” you agree.
“Uh, two adults,” Ethan gulps nervously, eyes darting away from the worker who seems bored. You wonder if this is the first time he’s been on a date, but dare not ask.
She hands him the tickets and you take one from him, his fingers brushing against yours making your eyes flutter to meet his in a shy smile “I’ll buy the popcorn,” you insist realising you hadn’t had a chance to offer to pay, too distracted by your goofy knight.
“Oh, uh, you don’t have to” his eyes glance at the floor for only a moment this time before meeting yours, bright and happy.
You purse your lips feeling shy, was this a date? Did it count as one, or, maybe just a movie between friends? Why did these things have to be so complicated…?
You stare at the counter with large computerized screens, advertising all of the combo choices. Popcorn, candy, and soda, yet it felt like your stomach was filled to the brim with cement. You glance over at him in the corner of your eye, his soft lips running as he reads the menu.
“Popcorn to share?” you ask, “I’m not very hungry, but I’d like a coke.” Perhaps the fizzy liquid will dissolve whatever is sitting in your stomach.
“Me too. With butter?” he asked hopeful.
“Real butter,” you laugh and he nods.
Ordering your popcorn you didn’t realise the combo with the candy would be cheaper. When the vendor asks you if you want any you look to Ethan, “what’s your favourite?”
He bites his lower lip, looking over the choice before answering, “sour patch kids,” your mouth waters instinctively thinking over the choice before grabbing them. After paying for the food you make your way down the dark purple carpet to the middle seats in the theatre, walking past the bright light up sign showing the Halloween poster. It dawns on you again how ridiculous you must look together in costume, but other passersby were dressed up, albeit a bit more “normal” looking. But for once, you didn't care how you looked to others. Sitting back into the plush red seats you let out a relaxed sigh, crossing your legs. This was more of your scene than a party.
“You know,” you say, grabbing some popcorn, instinctively messing with your wig, “this is kinda silly but it reminds me of a scene from pulp fiction.” The food falls into your stomach, fluttering there.
“Don’t you hate that?” he speaks while you offer him popcorn, taking a handful making you grin from ear to ear.
“Uncomfortable silences” you continue the Pulp Fiction quote, wiping your lip with your index finger. “You know you’ve found somebody really special when you can just shut the fuck up for a minute.”
You straighten out the white business shirt in your lap before taking a sip of soda, watching him carefully as he holds the popcorn bag in his lap, using his helmet as a tray.
“Unfortunately we’re not quite there yet,” Ethan starts reciting the scene from memory leaning back into his chair, “but we just met each other. I just hope you don’t follow her lead and go to the bathroom to snort coke.”
You laugh while drinking, holding your hand up to your face to avoid any spill, “oh my god,” you manage while Ethan laughs, “you almost made me snort coke but not Mia’s kind.”
“Here,” he puts his hands into his pockets pulling out some tissues while you share a laugh, “I have like, three tissues.”
You smile grabbing them, “thank you my dear gallant knight. The kingdom thanks you for your loyal service” you dab the sweet liquid from your lips.
As the trailers start to roll on the screen before you, you pull your phone out to silence the notifications, lest they interrupt your movie experience.
You lean your head towards him with a whisper “Are you ready?”
“As I’ll ever be” he smiled, eyes looking into yours before flickering back to the screen.
Through the movie you do your best to refrain from chattering, engrossed in the entertainment and forgetting everything bad happening in the world around you for even just a moment. You tug on Ethan’s sleeve, whispering little quips that make him shake his head as you watch.
For a moment, your warm hand brushes over his cool one as you go for popcorn, and you both pull back as if in a cheesy movie, the darkness of the room hiding your red cheeks. When the popcorn is finished you switch to the sour patch kids, holding them between you both. The candy is sweet, sour and sticky in your mouth washing away any bitter nervousness. By the end of the movie you were stretching your arms but you wished you could stay there forever, watching movies in your own little world. But alas, the lights dimmed on revealing the real world back to you.
“It was okay,” you shrug to him, looking at him expectantly.
“I just wish it had more gore,” he sighed “I think I just miss the old comedic gore everywhere movies.”
You nod to him in agreement “I just am a sucker for the nostalgia of the first one.”
You take your phone out and your heart sinks in your chest, blissful ignorance shattered; 10 texts and 5 missed calls from Anika.
Ethan senses your unease but doesn’t look at your phone, only your facial expressions “is… everything okay?”
You run a hand through your hair, a little off put when you remembered you were still wearing a wig. You clutch your phone to your chest, getting up “Anika called me, like 5 times, and she never does that. Let me call her back.”
You dial her number, it rang once before she picked up “where have you been?” she asks “oh right, movie. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but…remember those weirdos from your film study class? Greg I think it was, and Jason?”
Your feet carried you out in the lobby, you felt Ethan trailing behind, dumping the garbage in the bin. He tried to not linger, just keep a respectful distance. You looked back to him, watching him, “yeah I remember them.”
“Well, they were murdered. And they found the same mask that the attackers used against Sam and Tara” your stomach churns as Ethan looks back at you, face distraught with concern as his eyes lock onto yours.
Your mind is filled with images of Tara when you first met. You hadn’t known Sam much, but Tara was always sweet and kind. She loved discussing movies and was overall kind to you, something that was rare to find in people. She hid behind her scars but did her best to move on, build something new.
“Fuck, are they okay?” you sigh feeling your heartbeat rise.
“I’m staying here with Mindy for now, Sam and Tara went to the police station,” Anika replied.
“Okay well, I’ll head back to the dorm room now. Call me, alright? Keep me updated” you say into the phone, stepping closer to Ethan.
You give each other your goodbyes before hitting the red off button on the phone. Ethan stands with his arms crossed, waiting to see if you were comfortable filling him in on the conversation.
“Two guys from my films’ studies class were found dead,” you mumble, moving out of the way so other theatre goers don’t hear your conversation.
He moves his hand out to brush your shoulder, a sensation of comfort. You look back up to him with an easy, but tired, smile.
“You okay?” he asked gently, as if to not scare you away.
“Yeah, I never knew them, they were quiet,” you nod. “I’d better head back to the dorms now.”
You tap your hand against your hips nervously, “you live kinda close, yeah? Would you mind walking me back…? If that’s alright. I mean, I’m just a little nervous going back alone. If you’re uncomfortable I can call an uber-”
“No, it’s okay, my pleasure,” he pauses for a moment putting his helmet on, “besides who would want to challenge me?”
You can't help but let out a laugh as you put a hand to his shoulder, pushing him back slightly “come on my escort.”
Entering the cold night air, you could tell the moon was somewhere in the sky, it's beauty and light hidden by clouds and city smog. You wonder if the sky will ever clear, allowing you to embrace its full beauty.
You offer Ethan an earbud absentmindedly and he accepts wordlessly as you walk, more naturally together down the sidewalk this time, him guiding you along.
The night seems somehow calmer, despite a suspected murderer on the loose. Perhaps it was just a fluke and had nothing to do with Tara and Sam at all, and you had all of this fear for nothing. The music helped keep you calm as you walked until the sirens in the distance, in the way of your dorm building, caught your attention. The sirens got louder and louder as you near the corner of the block.
Ethan looked uneasy, “maybe we should take a different route…” he trails off.
A cop car was stopped at a little bodega along the street, glass was smashed and shards were everywhere. A thin yellow tape guards the place off from any passerby.
Your gut flip flops as you stare at the building, realising what might have happened. It’s not connected, it can't be… right?
You pick up your phone dialing Anika. After three rings she answers and you put her on speaker “where’s Sam and Tara?” You ask.
“I assume they're still at the police station,” She answers “why?”
“There’s this bodega…” you look at Ethan who runs his hands through his hair. He nods to you solemnly “it looks like it was attacked. It’s on the way to the police station from their place, I think…” you trail off.
“Hold on. Tara just texted me.” You can hear tapping against the screen as she checks her messages.
“She said they’re okay, they were attacked,” the blood drains from your face as you look up at Ethan. Suddenly, you wish he would touch you, he seemed too far away. But before the thought could continue Anika spoke again.
“She said he escaped, they’re waiting to be interviewed by Quinn’s dad, Detective Bailey” Anika says and you nod before feeling silly realising she can’t see you “is Ethan still with you right now…?” She trails off.
“I am” Ethan speaks up sounding surprisingly steady.
“Okay, take me off speaker,” Anika says and Ethan blushes looking away shyly as you do.
“Anika?” You whisper into the phone.
“Can you… stay with him tonight? Mindy is fuming at me, she doesn’t think it’s smart for me to leave the apartment tonight. If we stay in pairs of two it's safer.” You look at Ethan who is turned away to give you privacy and you sigh.
“How exactly do I , uh…” you trail off pressing your lips together.
You hear some shuffling on her end “he’s a guy ain’t he? He’ll stay with you any chance he gets.”
“Anika” you scowl at her through the phone.
“Okay, sorry you’re right. He’s a nice guy, Chad knows him well. Mindy is suspicious of everyone but, I don’t think he could hurt a fly. As far as Quinn’s level hookup dates go, you’re safer with this guy. Chads staying at Sam and Taras for the night anyways, it’s better to stick together. If you’re uncomfortable with it, I’ll come back.” It sounded like a genuine offer.
“No, just, stay where you are.” You speak and Ethan looks over your shoulder at your pained voice while you pinch the bridge of your nose, overwhelmed.
“Call me if you need me to come,” Anika replies and you wish you had another drink, even the gross stuff from the party.
“Okay, thanks” you reply, shutting your eyes tight as you end the call.
Looking at Ethan, as he notices the fear in your eyes, his grow a comforting, concerned shine to them “is… is everything alright?”
You look down at your feet “the killer escaped. Chad is staying at Tara and Sams, they don’t know how long they’ll be but he’s staying the night there with Quinn so she’s not alone…” you trail off.
He’s not taking the hint yet, so you need to be more direct.
“Ethan, you should stay at my place tonight,” your face reflects his bright red as you realise your boldness. You add more detail, “Anika doesn’t let anyone sleep in her bed. But I have some extra pillows and blankets, you can stay on the floor… if you’re comfortable with that.” You look down at your thumbs, twiddling them nervously.
God, I’m so pathetic when it comes to boys, you think to yourself. You wonder how Anika does it with girls, it seemed so easy for her with the amount of times she’s batted her eyelashes asking you to bunk at Tara’s for the night because she had a girl over.
He nodded, stiff as a statue, afraid to make the wrong movement to blow his chance with you, “Sure, okay, if you’ll have me.” He paused as if debating adding something but decided against it.
You feel that awkward tension as you did earlier in the night, before the movie and popcorn. But this time mixed with the awkwardness was something else, more unfamiliar. It was akin to anticipation, almost excitement, pulling at the air between you both.
“I have a song to play, if you’re okay with that,” he offers up in the silence.
You nod thankful for the distraction as you haul out your phone and hand it to him. He types in something before handing it back as music fills your ears.
Empty bottles on the floor, Parties over, thank the Lord
“88rising,” you murmur with a smile, “La Cienega. Very subway vibes.”
“Yeah, the name of the song is actually a subway station in LA,”
“You’ve been to LA?” you ask, turning to him.
He laughs a little embarrassed, shaking his head, making his curls bounce the way his lips move, sending fluttering wings inside your stomach.
“No, I guess I just know more than a normal person should about some things.” He shrugged his cardboard covered shoulders, “you showed me your lost in the city song, I’ll show you mine.”
“Lost in the subway?” you ask him, eyes lingering over a passing bus, lights blue white against the black night. It’s filled with other college students, coming and going from who knows where. A girl slumped against a window in a black hoodie, you wondered if she was going home from a shitty job to make ends meet, or a fight with her partner. You noticed things other people didn’t care about and assigned fake stories and lives to passersby. You wondered if he did that, too.
He nods, “yup, when I just moved here for college. I insisted to Chad that I knew my way back. To be fair, I thought I did. Clearly I was not ready for the NYC subway without a spider-man to save me.”
“Well, I still won’t go on it without Anika,” you smile slightly, tugging at your white shirt rounding your dorm building.
Lately I’ve been on my own, the music reminds you of its presence.
“You’ve never been here before have you?” As you ask you realise it’s a stupid question, of course he hasn’t been to yours and Anikas place.
I knew you having fun with me,
“Nope, I haven’t,” he answered, ignoring your thoughts that he wasn’t aware of. He seemed calmer now, more relaxed as you walked together.
When I’m nearby you’ll know, like oh no,
You take comfort in his calmness, causing your own tension to ease “I hope you don’t mind a bit of a mess. Totally all Anika, none of it me” you say.
And when will I see you,
“Well, let's just say I’m glad it's not my room,” he licks his lips after speaking.
Can you hear me loud and clear?
“I’m sure you have more movie posters than me though,” you smile.
You swipe your key-card to open the door before looking back at Ethan. He seemed more nervous now as you got closer and closer. He ran his thumb along his cardboard helmet, tapping against it nervously.
Pawn on every chessboard,
The walk down the hall to your room seems to stretch out over eternity, you reach your mind to grasp at something, anything to say to break the tension.
Used 'til they get bored
“Mi casa, su casa,” you say flicking the light switch on, dimly lighting the room.
Ethan steps inside your room, and the moment he does a cold chill washes over your entire body and you’re unsure where exactly it came from. Closing the door behind him you lock the deadbolt but the wind lingered, stuck inside. Trapped.
Smile when they yell, checkmate.

Backrooms fatty
Characters: u/urbexmallrat (OC), unnamed monstrosity
Content: fat monster, creepypasta thinly veiled fetish, impossibly big
r/FindingTheBackrooms posted by u/urbexmallrat 21 hours ago
Anyone seen this monster in the Backrooms?
Hey guys,
I was recommended this subreddit by r/urbexuk after no one there could help me. I thought The Backrooms was just a dumb creepypasta but honestly it’s the best explanation for what I stumbled upon. Bit of background, I’m a photographer, I’ve had pictures published in National Geographic so I’m the real deal. Outside of this occurrence I’m just a normal guy with a camera, I’m really into urbex and working on a book right now. There’s a shopping centre near me that I went to as a kid in the early 90s. I’m from a small town just off the motorway and the building used to be this huge busy place a couple of miles away. There was an arcade, cinema, all that stuff. It was really, really huge. It’s so weird to me that it was abandoned and honestly, it’s terrifying and fascinating to me that this place is completely deserted and being taken over by nature when I went there every weekend until I was 12.
Just to set the scene, here’s some pics of the place. Maybe it’ll be familiar to someone and you can explain away what I’ve seen. Hell, I’d love it if someone could do that.
The first photograph is of the entrance of a shopping mall, the windows have been smashed or bordered up, and the tiles on the floor have weeds and dead grass growing through the cracks. The walls have ivy and half dead trees clinging to them, and beneath that is a Starbucks that has had all of its furniture removed and strange symbols spray painted on the walls and floor inside of it. There’s a giant fountain in the middle of the entrance walkway, the water inside it is murky and covered in a strange slime. The second is of the entrance to an arcade. The machines are covered in a thick layer of dust and there are forgotten toys in a crane machine. There’s some strange orange teddy bears that are filled with stuffing in odd selections that have lumps in them. Their eyes are tears in their fabric, they look like a strange cross between a rabbit and a goat. The third photograph is taken from an above walkway showing the floor beneath, there are some abandoned shops and an outdoor coffee shop that has a couple of feral cats sitting by a dormant and decrepit coffee machine.
See? It’s called the Silver Bells Shopping Centre. I’d be interested to hear from anyone else who remembers it because none of my childhood friends or family remember it. So weird. I still have a Garfield Teddy from the crane machine at that arcade, it sits on my shelf. Here it is:
The photo shows a strangely shaped stuffed animal, one of the orange toys from the previous picture.
Anyway, I was using the opportunity to go find parts of the place we don’t usually see. I intended to go see some back storage rooms then go to the cellar. I guess I found that… anyway, I went to the food court which was kept on the lowest level and found a McDonalds. I hopped over the counter and slipped down the back. There was a lot of rats living in the now empty deep fat fryers but I figured live and let live. Weirdly I don’t remember having left the kitchen, but I must have done. I walked forwards, expecting to reach a door to take me out to some storage place. Instead I was walking for a good five minutes without going through anything and when I turned round the McDonalds was gone and there was just that terrifying yellow painted brick wall. I took some photos:
The first photo showed a family of rats living in the deep fat fryer, five were staring at the phone with bright red eyes. The second shows a blurry wall with light yellow bricks. The third, forth, and fifth all show different parts of the corridor, they all look essentially the same - yellow bricks, which stone floor, and nothing else distinctive.
So I had no idea how I ended up there but honestly I was mostly just assuming I was lost and took photos to help find my way back. I was wandering around these corridors for a long, long, loooooong time. My phone alarms kept going off - I have one at 2.30pm, one at 5:10pm, and one of 7:30pm so that’s how I knew time was moving even if my mobile clock hadn’t moved (yeah I know, how were my alarms going off if the time on my phone wasn’t moving, no idea!) After the last alarm I finally saw a door, and was over the fucking moon, so happy I got scared of going through it. Kind wish I hadn’t. Well. I guess doing that meant whatever weird monster I saw could guide me out, after it took what it liked from me. I can’t explain what I saw, or how I got out. And it doesn’t matter. I don’t care, I just wanna know what the fuck happened to me and what the fuck did I see. Here’s the monster I saw, doesn’t seem to match any monsters you guys have on file so I’m hoping that I missed something. Not sure how I feel about being the one who found out about a new species …
These sets of photos are much worse quality than the other pictures, and it’s not entirely clear what they are. The first shows a strange pile of flesh, a bright light - perhaps the camera flash - reflects against it. If you focus you can see that there’s a smattering of black hair over it, and angry purple marks where the skin has stretched obscenely. At first it simply looks like a closeup, but the photographer’s shadow shows that the navel or the occupant is significantly bigger than the owner of the flab. The second shows the adipose from a different angle, there’s one gigantic hill of fat, there’s another on top of it, and one more. This looks more human, but the way the light flashes and reflects on something on the otherwise of the wall shows that the height of the photographer is half that of the lower most fat roll. The third is an eye, a milky brown iris with bloodshot whites, that is crushed between a bloated cheek and sagging forehead, causing it to be a pinprick. The final photo shows the photographers digits held up against two enormous bloated brown lips, showing that just one of the slug like features is larger than the camera man’s entire hand.
So yeah. That’s the monster I found. If I had to estimate the size… well, it was significantly taller than me and I had to climb on it to get most of the photos. I’m six foot three, and I barely came up to its navel. I’ve seen elephants, whales, and stuff but none of them came close to it. Honestly if I didn’t know any better I’d say the creature was as big as I predicted the shopping mall was. Does this mean anything? Anyone see anything similar?
Update 1: please can every ignore my teddy and focus on the actual post lol
Update 2: I don’t know everyone’s focusing on my teddy but it’s Garfield lol don’t any of you remember Garfield?
Update 3: ignoring every question about my teddy now lol but thanks for everyone who asked me about the monster. Seems this isn’t a common experience but u/roadkillnapster pointed out that without a decent photo that shows more of the overall shape, it’s possible it’s a known monster that’s gotten really fat. Seems possible to me. Any fleshy monsters that could be similar?
Update 4: wow I wasn’t expecting so much conversation off my post, lotta people want to see it and have asked if I could show more videos and photos. I mean I don’t know but I’ll see if I can set up a livestream, so glad a lot of you wanna get to the bottom of this too!
Update 5: and thanks for freaking me out about my Garfield teddy, the wool is doing this weird expanding thing so it’s doubled in size and now I’m all scared it’s haunted lol

Chris Skelton
My Head cannons (Spoilers Below)
Tumblr media
- Although Chris lost his dad very young, he was always surrounded by Aunts, Uncle and Cousins. He and his sister never doubted that they had a loving family.
- Due to the loss of his dad, Chris found it hard to make friends at school and as a result spent a lot of time alone or with his sister, especially when carnivals came to Manchester.
- Music was very influential to him, it helped him escape from things that happened and helped his loneliness.
- Despite it making him “soft” in the eyes of his fellow officers, Chris really believed in soul mates he knew that somewhere out there, there was a girl who would love him for who he was. Unconditionally.
- Despite never owning a pet growing up, Chris had a real gift with animals, especially dogs, before his untimely death there was talk of moving Chris to work more closely with training dogs.
-As he and Annie both grew up in the 50s and 60s when they met they formed a strong bond, and were actually very close (if I’d written the show they’d have been besties)
Favourite Songs
Daydream Believer - The Monkees
Space Oddity - David Bowie
You Really Got Me - The Kinks
Wild Horses - The Rolling Stones
Goodbye Yellow Brick Road - Elton John
Hey Jude - The Beatles
-Due to the circumstances he grew up in, he didn’t go to the cinema very often but as he got older he went more, often taking girlfriends. He saw the following films
The Great Gatsby (1974)
The Three Musketeers (1973)
Swallows an amazons (making the list as he took his nephew to see it)
- He had never really thought about dating anyone other than women until he met Sam Tyler, but even then, it was a far away, unreachable crush.
- He was desperate to become a dad, but also scared of what would happen to his children if something were to happen to him.

Songs About Letting Go Of Her Memory
As I walk the roads of memory lane, Her presence lingers, causing pain and strain. The tunes that once were sweet and dear, Now only bring a sorrowful tear.
I seek refuge in melodies new, Hoping to find solace, to bid adieu To the love that once did bloom, But now it's time to leave the room.
The lyrics echo the pain inside, Aching heart, unable to hide The memories that refuse to let go, Haunting me like an unrelenting foe.
But in the midst of the melancholy, A glimmer of hope shines, unholy. Visit the band Arolyn for more music like this. For the songs about letting go, Are the ones that help me grow.
The rhythm of life continues to play, And the pain of the past fades away. As I embrace the new melodies, I find the strength to set myself free.
So let the songs about letting go Take me on a journey, high and low. For with each note, I feel more alive, And in the end, I'll thrive.
The melodies that once brought joy Now serve as a reminder of my destroyed Heart, shattered by the memory of her And the love that never did recur.
The lyrics that once spoke of love so pure Now bring tears that I can no longer endure. Each note, a painful reminder of what I lost, And the memories that came with such cost.
I try to forget, to move on, to let go, But the pain still lingers, a constant shadow. The songs about letting go, they only hurt, As I'm reminded of what once was, but now inert.
The rhythm of life goes on without her, And I'm left with the memories, a constant stir. The love that was once so real and true, Now only serves to make me feel so blue.
So let the songs about letting go play on, As I try to forget and move on. But in the end, the pain remains, As I'm left with memories that bring only pains.

Songs About Letting Go
YOu have to get into Arolyn the band's music for there songs about this.. Gratitude is a powerful force that can transform our lives. It allows us to appreciate the good things we have and to focus on the positive aspects of our experiences. One thing I'm grateful for is music. Music has the power to lift our spirits and connect us to others, whether we're listening to a crowded house concert or singing along to our favorite songs in the car.
But not all relationships are positive. Some can be toxic, draining our energy and making us feel trapped. That's why it's important to prioritize our own well-being and seek support when we need it. We can also empower ourselves and others by promoting women empowerment and advocating for equality.
Prayers can also provide comfort and support in difficult times, whether we're introverts or extroverts seeking solace in quiet reflection or turning to our communities for shared support. Dysfunctional family dynamics can be challenging, but we can learn to set boundaries and find healthy ways to cope.
Sometimes, the most powerful way to express ourselves is through music. Whether it's the haunting melody of "I Will Always Love You" by Whitney Houston, the catchy pop beats of "Since U Been Gone" by Kelly Clarkson, or the soulful ballad "Someone Like You" by Adele, music has a way of capturing our emotions and expressing them in ways that words alone cannot.
Artists like Dolly Parton, Leona Lewis, Halsey, Alesso, Alanis Morissette, and Hilary Duff have all used their voices to create powerful songs that touch our hearts and souls. "Everybody Hurts" by The Fray and "How to Save a Life" offer poignant reflections on the struggles we all face. Meanwhile, Sara Evans, James Blunt, and Florida Georgia Line offer up upbeat anthems that inspire us to keep going and never give up.
The power of music extends beyond individual songs and artists, encompassing entire genres and movements. From the punk rock of Bad Religion to the ethereal sounds of Lana Del Rey, music has the ability to connect us to others and inspire us to action. Whether we're listening to rock songs or hip hop, worship music or country ballads, there's something for everyone.
As we navigate the ups and downs of life, it's important to remember that we are not alone. From the classic ballads of The Beatles to the modern pop hits of Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish, music has the power to unite us and remind us of the things that matter most: love, hope, and the resilience of the human spirit. So let's embrace the power of music, and let it guide us through the joys and challenges of life.

SEASIDE BOY AND GIRLS WITH BALLOONS
SEASIDE BOY AND GIRLS WITH BALLOONS
Just fancy penning a poetic poem with no rues
Straight forward, definitely not entwined with clues
Not sure which yellow brick pave can solve
This scriber will endeavour with much resolve
And perhaps the endeavour can be behold
With reference to anything no matter how old
Like the Knights of the Round table were so bold
And aka Bob Marley coming in from the cold
What about all the Jackanory stories were told
The infamy of Tony Blair and the gold he sold
All the people that have lived in this world
Perhaps generations of wanting to be in the fold
Robin Hood and his merry men in the wood
The Pied Piper piping the rats with his tunes
All the little seaside boy and girls with balloons
The brightly coloured circus clowns buffoons
For the devil and his ilk not to include
Certainly no cinema theatre interludes
As for the stately inter family feuds
How about all the clouds in the sky
All the young want to learn why
Not the peeping Tom's who pry
Yes to the meek and mild, even if they cry
Angel fish, sea horses and cuttlefish
Indian and Pakistan spice curry dish
Giraffes, gazelles, goats and gesellschaft
Stick insects, caterpillars and beetles
The Rolling Stones and The Beatles
Rubella, rashes, scabs and measles
Kings, Queens and Court jester
Crocodiles, lizards and alligators
Invigilators and examination testers
Those American first year freshmen
Lemonaid, soda and squash refreshments
Heavy metal, pop, reggae and jazz blues
Shower, sinks, latrines, baths and loos
That is the end of the poem with no rues

Songs About Letting It Go
There's something magical about the moment you finally let go of something that's been weighing you down. It's like a weight has been lifted from your chest and suddenly the world seems a little brighter. It's a feeling of release, of freedom, of peace. And there's nothing quite like a good song about letting it go to capture that feeling and inspire us to do the same.
When you listen to songs about letting it go, you can feel the raw emotion pouring through the lyrics and the melody. These songs are visceral, powerful, and they hit you right in the gut. They remind you that it's okay to feel sad, angry, or hurt, but that holding onto those emotions only keeps you stuck in a cycle of pain.
Songs like "Let It Go" by James Bay or "Shake It Out" by Florence + The Machine have a way of making you feel like you're not alone in your struggles. The lyrics cut straight to the heart of the matter, urging you to release your grip on whatever it is that's been holding you back. They remind you that you have the strength to move on and that sometimes the best thing you can do is just let go.
The beauty of songs about letting it go is that they can apply to so many different situations. Whether you're going through a breakup, struggling with a difficult decision, or just feeling overwhelmed by life, these songs speak to the universal human experience of letting go. They remind us that we're all in this together and that we all have the capacity to heal and grow.
So the next time you're feeling stuck or weighed down by something, turn up the volume on a good song about letting it go. Let the lyrics wash over you and feel the emotion rise up inside you. And then take a deep breath, release your grip, and let it go. Because sometimes, the most powerful thing you can do is to simply surrender to the flow of life and trust that everything will work out in the end. YOu have to love Arolyn music for there songs about this.
