is honestly more scared watching the movie than you think he'd be, especially because boy reassured you a million times that yes, he wants to watch something spooky with you on halloween, and yes he loves and adores horror and yes, he's excited. in reality he's shaking only thinking about it though and only really agreed because he can't possibly say no to you like? when you asked him with puppy eyes if he had time for a date night on halloween because you'd love to spend some time with him- who is he to say no? to you especially? so you cuddle up on the sofa, warm, orange decorations adorning the living room and giving the atmosphere a touch of romance which chan nothing but welcomed, a halloween classic playing before your eyes, one you've seen about a million times already. and chan just- disappears. like he'd strategically seated himself behind you beforehand, holding the disguise to be all cute with you. though, in fact, sitting behind you would give him the best opportunity to hide behind your back without you necessarily noticing it first thing. though of course, after the uptenth time of chan flinching and hugging you just this much closer you start giggling at him, and the horror movie would quickly be replaced with some lazy late night kissing (and teasing on your hand, because chan getting scared of some movie is simply too adorable for you to overlook.)

ᴍɪɴʜᴏ

is the one to recommend it and force you to it as well if you happen to not approve too much. he'd be generous enough to let you chose the movie at least, but that's about it - it's halloween, how can you not cuddle up with him and watch the scariest movie known to mankind?? honestly, any time you flinch and scare away, maybe closing your eyes even when you know a jump scare is close he giggles at you, which you take sulking. after all you're looking for comfort, burying your face into his chest when too scared, and holding onto his arms for dear life - how dare he laugh at your misery?? honestly though, if you happen to be a fan of horror movies yourself you'll never experience a halloween more fun than watching horror classics with lino. you'd have a full on marathon, probably ending up making a game out of who involuntarily flinches first at a jump scare, laughing and giggling at each other, being intrigued in the movie after all though, cuddling and lazily making out when the story line is somewhat slow and uninteresting, snacking in between, opening the door ocassionally for children who happen to ask for trick or treats.

ᴄʜᴀɴɢʙɪɴ

LOVES getting scared with you. i really can't tell if he's the type to actually be quite scared or enjoy the movie, but with either of the options he just loveslovesloves getting to spend time with you watching scary stuff. i feel like he wouldn't really be into the horror classics, he'd rather spend some time browsing for a movie that can actually scare and shake him to the core because in his opinion that's obviously the whole fun on halloween? why spending time together that night if neither of you get even a little scared? you'd probably spend more time looking for a movie than actually watching it, and sneaky boy would constantly find excuses to not watch scary parts — like yes, the whole fun on halloween is getting scared, but he's a baby. he'd say he needs to run and make some popcorn because without it it's not enjoyable, says he needs to use the toilet real quick, suddenly his charger is not in the living room and he needs to go to his room to load up his phone. for a mysterious reasons those incidents only happen when a jump scare is in sight, and — he could just tell you, that he's frightened and scared that he won't sleep at night, as unserious as that concern sounds, but he can't get himself to. so he sits through the movies, until you — out of solidarity, because you very much notice his uneasiness — pretend to be scared yourself and drop the movie and simply spend some time together.

ʜʏᴜɴᴊɪɴ

HATES horror movies and would rather watch some romcom with you, greeting children at the door when they're asking for trick or treats and afterwards gushing about the cute costumes they were wearing. the furthest he'd go is dressing up and painting his face as well, just the two of you at home, for the sake of it. but horror movies?? nah, not with him. you'd need 3 business days in advance to convince him, which you end up succeeding in because after all he can't really say no to you, not when you're begging and pleading to just watch one movie, just one, you promise. he'd agree with an eye roll, smiling to himself though because he finds it cute how desperately you want to get him to his misery. you'd prepare a BUNCH of snacks beforehand, chocolate and drinks and popcorn and chips and just about anything that hyunjin can occupy his attention with if he gets too scared, and eventually you'd decide on quite a classic, like scream or the shining. and hyunjin would HATE it poor boy constantly hides behind you or has his face buried in your neck or chest and you cam't help but giggle at him a bit. you'd end up simply watching "children horror movies", like corpse bride and such. it's not as scary but at least the vibes are there.

now this would be the most fun halloween you've had in a while LIKE. boy loves and adores horror movies, lives for a movie night in and is a sucker for getting to cuddle with you during it - what more is there to wish for tbh. it'd just honestly be really chill and you'd probably make some kind of marathon because you're both familar with the classic but still don't wanna miss out on em so you like- watch some of those first before moving on to stuff that is less known and perhaps even scarier? he's mean tho so he will very very surely make fun of every time you flinch if you happen to get scared easily, like no filter there he straight up laughs and comments how this scene really was the lamest to have jumped the way you did. at least you can take quick revenge tho because he only plays cool while not being, like when they have a jump scare build up in the movie you can easily scare him before anything even appears on screen, like one moment you're sitting all tensed up and anticipating in each others arms, the next moment, to not miss the perfect timing, you reach out to grab onto said arms while shaking him a bit and calling out a loud 'boo' - the typical kinda scare, and very much lame, but he jumps and flinches and almost playfully punches you for it because he all but expected it. and the way you laugh is almost humiliating so he apologizes for making fun of you and just tells you to shut up and keep watching the movies with him, flustered.

absolutely fucking hates horror movies and doesn't get why it's oh so entertaining for some people you to watch em at night especially and practically begs you not to force him to watch anything scary when halloween comes around. but the mean partner you are; you'd puppy eye him, knowing that he'd never be able to say no, but since you don't wanna be too mean you suggest to watch toned down stuff, nothing too scary (you want felix to be able to still sleep at night, after all). yet admittedly, nothing is rlly toned down for felix? like the genre in itself simply frightens him to death and when you notice him constantly trying to hide behind you and curse out loud whenever a jump scare comes around, you give in eventually, simply turning on some music and telling him you can just hang together. which of course, earns you a round of smooches and hugs from lix which you nothing but accept gladly. he'd suggest putting on halloween make up just for shits and giggles, browsing through pinterest to find some inspiration and laughing later at the bad outcome of your own tries. all in all it'd be a mad sweet halloween even without the horror movies part </3.

sᴇᴜɴɢᴍɪɴ

is a menace and loves watching you get scared. he might suggest going to the cinema, simply because it somehow adds to the vibe and also guarantees for you to get the scare of your life because it's all so loud and big and 'in your face' as opposed to a tv at home. like no chance of hiding in seungmins chest or closing your ears, you're all exposed and have no chance but to watch. on top of that cinema means new movie which he loves, horror classics aren't too creepy anyways so getting to watch something new and hopefully core shakingly scary gets him all excited. honestly tho, the fact that he's so excited (if only to see your misery) gets you hyped as well, spending a night in the cinema with popcorn and drinks actually much to your liking, if not for the movie. not that you're not a fan, but you prefered horror movies on a smaller screen, simply put. when you arrive tho it's more fun than you imagined, especially if the movie itself is good, AND if you get scared in the middle of it, seungmin will cheasily reach out his hand for you to hold, wordlessly, which you gladly accept, squeezing it any time something brutal happens on screen. loves leaving the cinema after as well when it's all dark already, teasing you about it and asking you if you're scared, ends up being super sweet and soft after all tho, sneaking an arm around your shoulders and holding you close to him up until you've reached home.

ᴊᴇᴏɴɢɪɴ

is honestly so indifferent when it comes to anything horror and just really wants to see you happy and smiling so if you say it's a horror movie night — then it's a horror movie night. you'd prepare snacks and drinks and blankets, watching one halloween classic after the other, only interrupted by the one or other group of kids at your door trick or treating, ending up giving them all your remaining snacks (much to jeongins dismay because he'd be the one who remembered buying them last minute). at some point when the classics get boring you'd either watch some movies neither of you know for the surprise factor, all of them necessary to be rated 18+ because you really, REALLY wanna get scared but none of the films actually manage to (and even it they did, none of you'd want to let down your guard and admit to the other that you're a bit frightened, not fond of receiving a fit of teasing). you'd eventually — with all the snacks gone — think of some drinking game you could play while watching the movies, either who flinches first at jump scares or who predicts the murderer right at the end, something that direction, to spice up the night a bit. you'd only end up drunk and kissing on the couch tho, which you'd nothing but call a successful and perfect halloween night nevertheless.

skz as patrons at the library where i work

Genre: crack Synoposis: literally what it says on the tin lmao Members: OT8!! maknae line below the cut :)

Disclaimer in case my boss sees this that I love my job and almost all of our patrons <3 also none of these statements describe a specific person they’re just amalgamations of things we do and see every day

CHAN:

Mostly comes in to use our wifi/study rooms

Once asked us if we had a spare ethernet cable+hookup and we were all like ummmm we don’t really do that here?

Accumulated a $0.50 fine on his account and was extremely apologetic while paying it off like dude it’s okay it’s not that serious

Needs to print like 150 pages off of his laptop every single week and we feel bad for being annoyed because he’s really very nice about it*

Leaves ten minutes before closing <333

*this is annoying because printing off your own laptop means we have to leave our desk and go get your papers from the wireless printer the back office, whereas if you printed from the library computers you could get it yourself from the public printers

MINHO:

Runs a whole-ass business out of our meeting rooms

Like seriously shouldn’t you have an office space or a building for this….but no he checks out the same room key almost every day like clockwork

Actually doesn’t even live in our township but pays the PLAC fee because he likes our facilities better

Every time he tries to speak to us at the desk and it echoes he goes, “Wow sound really travels in here doesn’t it?”

When you ask him for his name for the financial records he jokingly refuses to tell you because “You should know who I am by now”

CHANGBIN:

Constantly forgets that he has to check out items that are on the holds shelf before leaving

It's such an issue like we've marked more than ten books as missing/lost but it turns out he just took them and left

Regularly attends the adult programming, like book clubs and mental health information sessions, always thanks the presenter for their time <3

Uses the library as Google, will call us and ask “Where’s the cheapest gas station close to where I am?” like sir where are you????

Has a punch card for the coffee machine and will stand around and make small talk while the coffee brews

HYUNJIN:

Gets so unbelievably embarrassed to come up to the desk for any reason as we’re going to verbally berate him for asking us a question

Bitches about every fine no matter how small, will ask for a manager over $0.75.

Seriously he does not like owing money. He got a book wet one time on vacation and paid for it as passive-aggressively as possible

“I’m telling you that the person before me must have done that because I would never treat a book that way, I treat all my books well and I’m one of the most frequent users of the library” like ok sir that'll be $27.99

One of those people that finds weeding atrocious and hates when he sees damaged books in the trash

Constantly complains about how the classics section lacks diversity (he’s right but us circ assistants can’t do anything about it)

JISUNG:

Has about a hundred books checked out on his account and can never remember which ones are next

He has a phone plan with a weird provider so we can’t text him notices and even though we explain this several times he constantly complains that he doesn’t get notices by text

Tries to pay his fines off with Apple Pay and can’t understand why we, a library using a cash register from 2007, do not take Apple Pay

Once used a website that made the computer set off a LOUD ASS ALARM for being a “forbidden or unsafe network” and we were all like what the hell did you do like even porn doesn’t set off an alarm????

Always asks to “use the bathroom really quick” after we’ve officially closed and forces us to stay an extra 20 minutes because we can’t shut anything down until the building is empty

FELIX:

Never actually reserves a meeting room but will always come to the front desk and ask if there’s one available and will be SHOCKED if we’re booked straight through for the day

Regularly brings in books for donation and when he pays fines in cash he always hands us a $20 and says to keep the change <3

Notices every minute change to the layout like “Why are the atlases no longer at the front of nonfiction?” and we’re like when was the last time you even checked out an atlas

Gets embarrassed if a book he wants is in the teen or children’s section and asks us to go get it for him

Can never connect to Libby because he keeps forgetting his PIN number so he calls us to reset it like once a month

SEUNGMIN:

Checks out a TON of DVDs. Treats this place like Netflix fr

Will request we get a movie that’s currently in theaters and we’re like “It’s not even out on disc yet so we literally can’t buy it”

Prefers to hand all his returns to a desk person and watch us check them in while he’s there instead of putting them in the return so he can "make sure" he doesn't get any fines

Asks us why mysteries are shelved separately from all the other books because it’s confusing as to what is and isn’t a mystery (we have no clue either)

Likes picking books off the cart while you’re shelving because they're "peer reviewed" and "probably better than what's on the shelves"

JEONGIN:

Constantly forgets his library card and is forced to come up to the desk so we can check his books out

Does not understand the difference between librarians and circulation assistants and so is always asking circ assistants do work that only librarians can do

“What do you mean you’re not a librarian? Isn’t everyone who works in a library a librarian?”

Thinks literally everything is going to get him banned from the library as if you'd get banned from the library for...using the services we offer?

Got anxious when we entered the room with a giant mallet after he reported one of the tables was stuck and we had to explain we were not going to attack him and we use the mallet to fix stuck tables

Walks away with room keys sometimes and returns them like 30 minutes before we close in an absolute PANIC

synopsis: jeongin’s eyes glint under the flashes of the fireworks like deep brown pieces tourmaline. the slight upturn of his lips becomes a full-fledged, toothy smile when he hears the countdown begin, and there is a peaceful stillness in the pit of your stomach as the night ends with your lover kissing you into the new year. pairing: jeongin x gn!reader genre/warnings: reader and jeongin had watermelon soju earlier in the night lolol, (not proofread), nonidol!au, fluffy new year’s eve night spent w yang jeongin <33 word count: 1.1k (whoops?) a/n: this is a day late ughhh, but oh well i love jeongin sm :’’’) he was my first skz bias n i’ll always have a soft spot in my heart for him!!! hope everyone had a happy/relaxing holiday (n good luck to everyone who has to go back to their real life responsibilities soon <33)

[11:52PM] as rain patters against the windows of chan’s apartment, everything seems to go silent. jeongin’s mind grows blank and the voices of his friends become something akin to static; he is entranced by the little rivers cascading down the glass, away in his own world. you think he looks beautiful like this—skin glowing, eyes focused on something no one else sees. the sharp edge of his jaw is mesmerizing as your eyes trail across the smooth expanse of his face. his eyelashes are long enough to make you jealous, and they kiss his cheeks when he blinks. the feeling of his palm against yours fills you with a warmth that reminds you of waking up with his arms secured around your waist.

gently, as to not distract any of the others from their heated match of (undeniably wasted) uno, you lean into jeongin’s side. despite his distant appearance, he squeezes your hand—a silent acknowledgement that he hasn’t drifted too far from you. “we should go outside,” you propose, voice faint and almost inaudible, “i think the rain’s about to stop, ‘nd i wanna see the fireworks.”

your proposition hangs in the air, and jeongin is still for a moment before unfurling his limbs from their previous positions. his joints ache as he pushes himself up from the corner of the sofa, and he makes a note to add stretching to his morning routine in the new year. jeongin’s firm hold remains on your hand, and he tugs you through the halls of chan’s apartment. the floorboards creak beneath your feet when you pass by the kitchen; the aroma of pizza, fried chicken, and beer lingers in the air—a quiet reminder of all the fun that was had earlier in the night. you almost stub your toe when rounding the corner near chan’s bedroom. in an effort to avoid the injury, you trip and stumble; jeongin’s laughter lets you know that he’s returned to earth. however, before you can shoot him a less than savory glare, your lover is dragging you past the threshold of chan’s bedroom door and onto the balcony.

city lights twinkle as the stars shine back down on them with a light not even the dark, winter sky could consume. everything seems so small from all the way up here; people resemble dolls as they meander the streets, drunk from a night of new year’s eve partying, and the sounds of traffic become white noise. the rain continues to pour, but neither you nor your lover seem to care. clothes begin to stick to your skin and hair begins to fall in front of your eyes, but the moment is too perfect to complain about. it’s refreshing—it’s different.

jeongin releases your hand in favor of looping an arm around your shoulders, pulling you into his body. there’s a beat of silence before he cranes his neck to place a timid kiss on the crown of your head; jeongin’s lips are wet, and he can’t repress the enchanted grin that forms on them as he moves away. you press further into him, chasing the heat that seems to roll off of his body in waves. rain or shine, your sanctuary—yang jeongin—persists.

“jeongin,” you hum, speaking into the subtle breeze.

“hm?”

“do you have any new year’s resolutions?”

quietude envelops the atmosphere; stray car horns and the sound of your shared breathing are the only things that can be heard. the scent of smoke teases your nose, making your eyes water. jeongin shifts his arm in a certain way that has you careening into his chest, cheek molding against his sternum and arms encircling his torso. “it’s the same every year,” he chuckles, rocking from side to side, “i want to love you better. every day.”

jeongin makes it sound so simple.

and, sometimes, simplicity is devastating.

hot tears permeate jeongin’s already soaked t-shirt, and he separates from you with a frantic once-over. calloused thumbs brush against the skin under your eyes as jeongin presses peck after peck into the skin of your forehead. “yang jeongin—you were supposed to say something like ‘i wanna get fucking jacked like changbin before february’ or ‘i really need to stop eating as much buldak ramen this year’—” lightly slapping his bicep, you sniffle, “not something beautiful and touching that makes me want to curl into a little ball and sob.”

“the ramen one is also true, though,” jeongin laughs, “i’m genuinely surprised i haven’t developed a stomach ulcer, yet.”

tipping your head backwards, you let out an amused groan. it’s cut abruptly short, however, as familiar whoops and cheers coming from inside chan’s apartment force you and jeongin out your quiet togetherness. they grow closer, and almost immediately, you’re surrounded by seven other men as they jostle for good spots on the railing. chaos overwhelms the peace, but an endless bout of giggles escapes from your mouth. minho has the countdown open on his phone, and you take a quick glance.

five seconds left.

fireworks begin to shoot into the air. in front of your eyes, jeongin is bathed in a mixture of bright red flashes and deep golden light. he leads you to the corner of the balcony, away from your friends and the discord they brought with them. the side of jeongin’s mouth quirks up, and he moves his hands to cup your cheeks once more. your tears have long since dried, he notes; and, they’ve been replaced with a reminiscent glint that makes his heart clench at the sight.

“you’re my favorite person. in every universe—you’re my favorite person,” you murmur at a volume only he can hear. “and, in every version of my life before this one, i know that i’ve loved you.”

three.

a lump forms in jeongin’s throat as the weight of your words sinks into his mind. he’s not an emotional guy, but when jeongin is with you—he feels everything. the way your fingers run along his knuckles sends shivers down his spine. his heart pounds in his ears, drowning out the sounds around him. the cityscape is fading into nothingness. jeongin knows he’s slipping away again, but he’s not worried. he has you.

“i love you, too, [y/n],” jeongin speaks through the urge to cry, “more than anything.”

one.

jeongin meets you halfway, pressing his lips against yours. the taste of watermelon soju still lingers on your tongue. his nose nudges yours, a gentle greeting in the middle of a heated moment. it makes you laugh into his mouth, and jeongin can’t help but pursue, even after you pull away. between more gentle pecks and whispered utterances of ‘happy new year’, jeongin is overtaken by the sheer amount he adores you. he understands he can be aloof and a bit distant; he doesn’t do a great job at expressing how he feels through words. but, he knows he will have no trouble completing his new year’s resolution.

just like last year, jeongin will love you better. every day.

"fuck!"

you gasped in shock, stumbling back as hyunjin popped out from behind the couch, a playful smile tugging at his lips.

"did i scare you?" he giggles, standing up properly and making his way towards you, failing to notice how you eyes were still quivering with fright and your tight grip on your phone.

"why would you do that, hyunjin?"

you sound off, your voice an octave higher and trembling with an emotion that confuses him. was he sensing anger?

"it's just a joke ynnie. calm down."

it wasn't just a joke to you, though. it was much more than that. but you couldn't to explain it to him, so you leave him in the living room with an eye roll, staring at your retreating figure in confusion.

hyunjin doesn't bring it up after that. maybe he just happened to catch you on one of your bad days.

but he begins noticing things ever since - things that weren't necessarily normal. things that you have always done, but this time when he really thinks about it, they're a bit strange.

how you're always extra jumpy, flinching at every loud sound, refusing to leave the house without an unnecessary amount of security, being extra cautious when you went to public events, and straight up refusing to socialize with anyone more than necessary.

your members always labelled it on you being an introvert. but to the extent that you barely even spoke about yourself to your own members? as though scared to trust them with information? that wasn't normal, was it?

hyunjin thinks hard. he's a bit worried about you, but he doesn't know what to do.

tell chan? no. chan didn't need more problems on his plate.

confront you? no. you hated confrontation. it would worsen things.

talk to another member about it? maybe. but you might get mad at him. you always hated people meddling with your personal life.

so he stays silent for a while, observing from a distance.

and he begins picking up on signs soon enough.

you were paranoid. extremely paranoid. he caught you looking over your shoulder every few minutes, expertly dodging personal questions, being hypersensitive to criticism, having spells of moodiness that followed no particular pattern, suddenly giving your own members the cold shoulder, over analysing every little interaction you had with people. it was worrisome.

yes maybe hyunjin was looking into it too much and it wasn't that big of a deal. but he couldn't brush off a certain thought nagging him at the back of his mind. something was definitely up, and it was about time he spoke to the others about it.

"I think yn has a stalker." hyunjin mutters, shifting uncomfortably in his seat under the blank gazes of the other 7.

"what?" chan sounds confused, eyebrows furrowed as he shares an unsure glance with lee know. "did she say anything?"

that was the problem. you didn't. so he had no solid proof other than his theories.

"well, not really" he rubs the back of his neck. "but something is wrong. I know it. she's been acting weird."

"weird as in?"

"it's the usual. she hasn't changed. but when you look into her habits, they're not normal hyung."

it's tense. nobody knows what to say until changbin breaks the silence.

"what do you mean by not normal?"

"I don't mean it in a bad way," hyunjin hastily defends. "it's the way she's so paranoid, always on the edge. it can't be anxiety. anxiety doesn't make you act that way. it's almost like she's scared of something or someone."

he leaves it at that, allowing for the others to ponder over it.

your managers hadn't mentioned anything. maybe it was a sasaeng bothering you? maybe you slipped up and you were scared to share it with the company? scared of their berating?

"we can't jump to conclusions, can we?" felix interjects, fingers anxiously drumming against the table.

hyunjin shakes his head. "we can't. that's why i've been observing her for the past few weeks, and this was the most reasonable explanation i could find."

"what exactly made you start looking into it?"

"i tried jump scaring her two weeks ago, when she thought she was alone at the dorms. and she was so livid she didn't even crack a smile. i thought maybe she was just in a bad mood but for a few days after she kept acting strange around me. she would barely speak to me and even when she did she wouldn't meet my eyes."

chan hums, a frown twisting against his features. if hyunjin's guess was correct, you could be in serious trouble. and if he thought about it, there may just be a chance the boy was right. if you really did have a stalker threatening you, the chances you told them about it were close to zero. you were never one to confide in people easily.

"let's not tell the managers about it, yeah? we'll all observe her too. try seeing if there's anything out of the ordinary?"

and so they all agree, leaving the company in a much worse mood than with which they had entered. you were alone back at the dorms. it was your first day off in a very long time. hence hyunjin had chosen that moment to tell the others.

the drive back is tense. nobody says much. a few of them scroll through social media, trying to see if there's any news about a stalker. but they come up with nothing.

everything seems normal.

that is until they reach their apartment.

the change is immediately obvious. when chan unlocks the door, he stumbles back in surprise when he sees their dinner table blocking the corridor of the entrance, preventing them from entering the living room. the couch had also noticeably shifted, turned such that anyone sitting on it would have a clear view of the windows and the front door. every window is shut, the latches bolted.

"what the fuck happened here?" seungmin mutters in shock, carefully lifting the table from one end and moving it to make space for them to enter. the entire layout had changed.

"where's yn?"

all of them are visibly terrified as they make their way deeper into the dorm, noticing the can of pepper spray lying on the center table.

"yn!"

no answer.

"fuck. I hope she's okay."

there's nothing they can do besides hope as they reach your door. it's locked. there's no sound coming from the other side.

"yn?" Chan's voice wavers as he silently knocks at your door.

no answer.

"yn! it's us!" lee know pounds against the door.

there's a moment of tense silence before they hear the unmistakable click of your lock.

"hi?"

your hair is ruffled and your eyes puffy. you had been asleep.

it takes you by surprise when jeongin pushes his hyungs aside to grab you by the shoulders, chest heaving with the fright you had given them.

"what's wrong innie? why do you guys look like you've seen a ghost?"

"what's wrong? you tell us yn. why is all our furniture completely rearranged?"

for the first time your eyes land on the living room, and you gulp.

shit. you forgot to clean up.

"there was a bee. I was trying to kill it."

"what?"

it sounds ridiculous even to your own ears, but it's the best excuse you have.

"yeah. that's why the windows are closed. it got in somehow and I lost it. I was just trying to search for it." you shrug.

"what about the pepper spray?"

"I couldn't find the bug repellent."

the excuses come to you naturally.

"yn please-"

"it's not that big of a deal, oppa" you cut chan off, defensively crossing your arms. "you know I hate bugs. that's all there is to this. now will you please let me go back to sleep?"

you don't wait for their reply, shutting the door and locking it, leaving your members half confused and half exasperated. you were lying to them.

"please tell me none of you believed her." hyunjin whispers into the silence of the afternoon, taking care that you don't overhear them.

"something's definitely wrong," han agrees, his foot bouncing unconsciously against the carpet. "she's hiding something."

"but what?"

the million dollar question. what were you hiding? was it really a stalker?

"should we tell the managers about it now?"

"I think we should," lee know adds, looking at the others for confirmation.

"don't you think she'll be angry? she doesn't like people meddling with her business. you know how defensive she gets."

all of them turn to chan. in the end, it would be his say.

"I think we should try figuring out the reason first ourselves."

"but-"

"a motion detector and CCTV camera might work. hidden from sight, of course. it would alert us."

changbin hums, agreeing with their leader. "We could give it a try. It's better than nothing."

and so the plan is set. felix makes an excuse of buying parts for his PC and brings home the camera and motion detector. when you go to shower the next morning, the device is expertly concealed and motion detectors set in place.

chan insists you stay back that day too, going on for a long time about something related to your health and dark circles and what not. you agree reluctantly, and they don't fail to notice it. you didn't want to be alone. that was something.

"don't worry ynnie," jeongin reassures you as he ties his shoe lace while the others wait for him at the entrance. "the company is only 5 minutes away, we wont be far."

"are we just going to wait around here with nothing to do?" lee know asks, leaning back into the couch in their dance room.

"we don't have another option."

and so they do exactly that - wait. but it's not for long.

fifteen minutes into their boredom the first alarm goes off. the motion detectors had been triggered and the bell rings from chan's phone - where the control system had been set up.

"quick, check the camera!"

all eight of them huddle around chan's screen, watching intently at the familiar sight of their living room, eyes scanning for any sign of someone trying to break in.

but it's only you. you're pacing the living room, hands wringing by your side as you keep looking over your shoulder, flinching every time a paper rustles or the curtains move from the wind.

"what's wrong with her?"

felix furrows his brows, looking at the controls on chan's screen to make sure that the motion detector outside their front hasn't been activated. that meant nobody was trying to break in.

"she seems terrified."

"call her."

seungmin wastes no time in dialing your contact, and they watch in unison as you very nearly jump out of your skin when your phone goes off, a hand going to clutch your chest as you collapse into the couch.

"hello?"

your voice sounds normal. they wouldn't have suspected anything if they couldn't see your leg anxiously bouncing.

"is everything okay there?" seungmin asks carefully. he can't giveaway that they're secretly keeping an eye on you.

"uh yeah- yeah sure. everything is fine. why?"

"no reason. I was just taking a break."

"oh."

"alright stay safe. We'll be back in a while."

Seungmin is just about to hang up when you stop him.

"wait!"

for the first time a hysterical note seeps into your voice.

"yes?"

he's met with silence as they notice you pondering over something through the camera.

"yn?"

"nevermind. it's nothing. don't overwork yourself."

chan sighs deeply as he listens to you over the speaker, his fingers tightly gripping the edges of his phone.

you mutter your bye, and they watch you get up, carefully placing your phone on the table.

and then you do what they had been waiting for.

pushing your weight against the couch, you move it directly towards the wall, leaving no gap in between.

another alarm goes off on chan's phone.

then you angle it a bit, the same way they had found it the day before, such that you have a clear view of all entrances to the dorm.

all this while anxiously looking over your shoulder, once even jumping a bit as your foot got stuck on a fold in the carpet. your movements are tense, screaming with urgency, and it's the breaking point for them.

"that's it. we're going back," changbin huffs as he stands up, the other following behind quickly. chan maintains his concentration on the screen.

"she's turning on the t.v," chan informs, slinging his laptop bag over his shoulder and following them out of the building.

the ride back is silent. if their manager picks up on the strange atmosphere he doesn't mention it, and they're grateful to that. lying to their manager would be worse than hiding this from him.

it's only a five minutes drive, but it feels like eternity. when they finally enter the building, running up the stairs, it's eerie how peaceful their apartment looks from the out.

"do we knock or?"

"no. it might scare her."

seungmin pulls out the key from his pocket, trying to be as soft as possible as he unlocks the door, not wanting to startle you with any sudden noise.

"yn?"

chan quickly turns off his phone, stepping through the threshold.

you're sitting exactly where they saw you, some show mindlessly playing on the t.v. your eyes lock in on them as you scramble up.

"you guys are early. it's barely been half an hour."

should they tell you truth? confront you? try to coax it out of you? be subtle about it?

"guys?"

they snap out of their trance, their voices immediately breaking the silence of the dorm.

"yeah! we didn't want to leave you by yourself for long."

"oh."

you take your place on the couch, and raise a brow as they all settle themselves around you too. they don't change or wash up or anything. they just silently occupy any empty space they can find.

it's strange.

"are you guys ok?" you voice, turning off the t.v to look at felix who's sitting beside you.

silence.

they all exchange glances. someone has to bring it up.

"are you okay?" hyunjin finally asks, turning his body to face yours.

"what?"

"yn, please. just answer him."

"no no what do you mean hyune?"

you voice is an octave higher, hands digging into the leather cushion of their couch.

"yn," chan tries to pacify. they hadn't expected this to escalate over a simple question.

"what? why are all of you looking at me like that? i'm fine there's nothing wrong with me."

"yn-"

"stop interfering in things that aren't your business!" you finally snap, cutting felix off as you stand up, turning to face them. "this is none of your business so keep out of it!"

you're breathing heavily and a beat passes in silence.

"yn, what's wrong love?"

chan carefully gets up to put an arm over your shoulder, gently pulling you down to sit. you're trembling and barely half a minute passes before you crumble into chan's shoulder - suddenly - sobs punctuating the silence of the afternoon.

"i'm sorry," you manage between gasps. "i'm so sorry."

even chan look alarmed as he hurriedly tries to calm you down.

"there's nothing to be sorry about, ynnie. please talk to us."

but you can barely talk. you're all but wailing as the other seven huddle around you, their reassurances mixing together.

"i lied. i've been a terrible friend, snapping at you all the time. i'm so sorry it's all my fault."

"yn-"

"nothing is okay. everything is a mess and i don't know what to do."

the leader gently coaxes your face out from where it's nestled in his neck, and rubs a thumb below your waterline, collecting the salt streams streaking down your face.

"ynnie. please calm down, yeah? we want to help. tell us what's wrong."

"i'm- i'm messed up, chan. that's what is wrong."

"don't say that! it's not true."

you break down into another torment of sobs, and they hurry to calm you down.

"it's my head. it's messing with me. something is wrong. i just-," you voice breaks as chan leans to plant a soft kiss against your temple. "-i just don't know what."

"what do you mean?" hyunjin asks softly.

you take your time, elaborating through sobs and broken gasps about your suspected condition. if you had thought they would judge you, you were completely wrong. they listen attentively, comforting you through it.

"i don't want to, but i can't help it," you whisper, leaning into chan's touch. "my brain convinces me that there's always someone hiding just beyond my sight. everytime i speak to someone i'm wired into believing they'll use that information against me somehow, or they'll try to harm me. public events are a nightmare. i don't remember the last time i've been to an award show and felt alright."

"oh yn."

han all but pounces on you and chan, ruffling your hair as hiccups wrack through your figure.

they've never seen you like this. they've never seen anyone like this, in fact.

"it's so loud in my head. it started off small, i didn't even notice when i began thinking or feeling this way. but it just got worse and worse to the point where i've been an absolute pain to all of you - snapping at you, lying to you, fighting with you. i just- i don't know what to do anymore."

"hey hey, listen to me, yeah? this is not your fault. and you haven't been a pain. don't ever think that again," chan reminds you, coaxing you to face him, heart breaking a little at the tears streaking your face.

"but-"

"nope. nuh-uh. no blaming this on yourself."

you chin wobbles as you try to control a fresh onslaught of sobs.

all of them are so understanding you don't even know if you're crying from all the love or the confrontation.

"we'll help you through this, yn. we promise. you don't have to suffer through this alone."

"you don't have to do this. you're all already so busy and-"

"your mental health is a lot more important to us than anything else," felix interjects flatly, rubbing a soothing hand over your back.

"yeah! you've been hiding this for so long and we just want to help you feel better again! no matter what it takes."

you flash a grateful smile to changbin through the tears, earning an encouraging grin from him.

"you're all too nice for your own good. thank you."

"don't worry you can repay us by letting me jump scare you!"

"yah hyunjin do you want to be stuffed into the air fryer?"

it didn't take a genius to figure out who the comment came from as you giggled softly.

it's going to be okay, you think. you know your boys will help you through it, and that itself was the first step of your recovery.

you'll be fine.
