I read your opinions on Ahsoka and while I like her I agree, I think her fandom is making me dislike her, the final straw for me was reading takes that Ahsoka was Anakin's child more than Luke ever was because he spend more time with her than with Luke despite Anakin ALWAYS aknowledged Luke as his son, I mean remember the iconic "I'm your father" scene? And how after that he always called Luke in his mind as "my son"? Anakin may had not raised Luke, but he always loved his son, ever since Padmé told him that she was pregnant he considered his baby a blessing and the happiest moment of his life, so no wonder those feelings resurfaced when he found out that Luke lived between ANH and ESB, I mean, he came to the Light for him! His baby boy. I even read a Youtube comment saying that when Anakin said Luke before dying "Tell your sister...you were right..." now it refered to Ahsoka when those words were for Leia! Yes, we know Leia sees Bail as her father and has zero connection with Anakin, but even so, those final words were for her. Canonically Anakin saw Ahsoka as much a younger sister, he always refered Luke as his son and Leia as Luke's sister and thus, his daughter. I dislike reading how people are trying to server Anakin from his family (from Padmé to now Luke and Leia) to place Ahsoka in the picture, guys, you can have both! (sorry for the rant)
I totally get it. My issue with her character mainly started from the fact that she is shoehorned into anything that involves the skywalkers. Imagine if she was in the movies, I would think her arc would be very redundant in the PT because we are closely following the Jedi masters and council as well as politicians as they are central to the plot and conflict. The fact that she wasn't in it establishes she is an afterthought. And I think she wouldn't have been so bad if she was a character with a standalone arc and story but now she's just everywhere and I disliked her introduction as Anakin's padawan because the PT establishes Anakin is quite young and flawed and its his journey we are exploring from little Ani to Darth Vader throughout the six films. He is allowed to be an innocent kid, brooding emotional teenager and also a hero. He is the Chosen One but not once is he a Gary Stu, in fact he goes through phases that annoys other characters like Obi Wan. He isn't overpowered either because we see him suffer two huge defeats in the films. He makes mistakes and the wrong choices and can be selfish at times, and other times he tries to be a good padawan and follow the rules and sometimes he disregards them, he lets others boss him around too, he is scared but wants to be a good father and husband etc etc. you get the idea. He's not perfect and that's the point and I think Hayden nails the repressed monk persona. The only reason Ahsoka was introduced was part of "fixing" Anakin's character and to make him more fun but it seems so unbelievable the council would assign someone like Anakin with an impressionable youngling (who is strangely rebellious despite having the same upbringing as the rest?). I just don't see Anakin as being a big brother to anyone or bantering with kids when he seemed understandably awkward and reserved. Also, Ahsoka's thick plot armor and her continuously inflated significance just confirms how much of a creator's pet she was and her whole character (especially when she's interacting with Anakin) feels very fanficy and the fact that she has almost zero flaws and she takes over the roles of every other important person in Anakin's life in the original story. I try not to pay attention to Filoni's pet because it just feels like pure wish fulfillment for him at this point. We could just have more of other cool female jedi like Shaak Ti, Depa, Aayla, or Yaddle as they were preexisting characters and weren't dependent on the Skywalkers for their arc - because I doubt Ahsoka would have been popular at all if she wasn't Anakin's padawan or acting like an Anakin wannabe (and getting away with it almost always while Anakin the CO was given no special treatment). At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if Ahsoka is revealed to be the new chosen one or she's some insanely overpowered demigod lol. And I mean I guess her fans like her for many reasons but she just feels like a Mary Sue to me like you know a character is doomed when a creator admits he's too attached to the character for anything drastic and openly shows favoritism. Let's be honest she is kind of a nepo baby and acts like one too in the SWU. I guess some people are just seeing her as one now but I always thought she would be a Mary Sue because even the emotional moments she has and the few hardships or "deep" moments she gets is just by interacting with the Skywalkers or just dealing with things everyone else is going through. So I don't really feel the emotional value if she tells Luke he is like her father when literally anyone else who knew him could have said that. At least characters like Boba don't rely on mentioning Anakin in everything they appear in. I don't think her arc would even be well developed if she was detached from the existing prequel characters so it's like she just reinforces the same emotions we should feel except she's supposed to be fun and badass so the audience and her fans would empathize with the events more.
Like do people even really like her screentime in Rebels except from her fight with Anakin? And that scene's so memorable because it's with Anakin, a much more realistic and developed character. It's really Anakin who carries the scene and the emotional impact. Replace Ahsoka with any other padawan and it seems like she has no inherent value. She only seems to shine in moments she is interacting with PT era characters due to the backstory and flashbacks and the rest of the time she's just a token strong female jedi character. What is Ahsoka when she is not breaking Jedi rules constantly like she's special or getting in Anakin's business or running into other characters and reminiscing about the past? I could watch a standalone show on Anakin, Padme, Obi Wan, Qui Gon, Yoda or even Dooku just in their solo adventures because they bring a slightly new perspective to the SWU and there's some room for individuality. I could be wrong maybe they explored some of her personal ambitions than being a Jedi and making Anakin proud but I'm really not interested when her role is just so interchangeable. Even Padme has an entire movie around her (TPM) where we see more about her. Despite being Anakin's love interest, we can see how she is a main character and can carry a film without any romance with Anakin. Same with Obi-Wan. He had an entire movie solving mysteries and plots while Anakin and Padme were romancing. That's why they should be the main prequel trio because its always been two force sensitives and a non-force sensitive member. Just like Han, Padme brings a new perspective and skills in the team.
I wouldn't be too bothered about such claims as they always existed. Ahsoka is closer to Anakin than Obi Wan, Padme, Leia and now more than Luke. It's sad and funny how far Filoni will bend space and time to make room for the OC. As far as I'm concerned, she doesn't exist.
This channel has some good videos on her and I highly recommend these: part 1 and part 2

before i remembered yaddle exists, i genuinely thought this was yoda in his own jedi mullet era lmao.
the important part tho is the split second idea that obi-wan was inspired by his style sense, like he’s such an overachieving jedi geek that he’s just waiting for the day he could grow his hair out the same way jedi master icon yoda did… it kills me.

the leaked trailer..... the only thing i hate about it is that it's 6 shorts. Why couldn't this have been a whole animated show? there are obviously stories to tell. stories the people want!!! you can't dangle Yaddle in front of us like that and expect a short to do it full justice. Anakin training Ahsoka, full on Ahsoka family and backstory, Dooku and Qui-Gon backstory???
this is my problem with star wars now though. they're at once too aware of fans' wants and yet don't know how to follow through. they hear people love Luke so they think let's give them that guy's literal face but they also hear people hated Luke's character in the sequels so they think let's make him the least offensive guy ever let's make him so vanilla no one could possibly disagree with what he's saying. they hear people love the prequels and Ahsoka now so they do all this about 5 years too late and go full steam ahead with backing r*sario's wooden acting because they've already invested too much into her (ahem dropped lawsuit).
these things spend years in production and ridiculous secrecy and for what? so they can put a little icon beneath the live action shows on disney+ that tell people which animated episodes will actually tell the stories that live action tries to pick up?

Hi!  I went through a similar phase as several of you--I never really connected the dots between my own aro/ace qualities and my gravitating towards the Jedi culture until someone else pointed it out and then everything just sort of clicked together in my head in a way that made so much sense. And I think it can be really useful to view the Jedi through this lens of aro/ace culture, not because people are obligated to agree to this interpretation (they absolutely are not obligated to do so!) but because it provides a framework of reference for why not being drawn to romance and/or sex is not a foundational flaw in characters.  That there might even be an entire group of people who find that to be really satisfying and fulfilling--I mean, look at how many people gravitated to this discussion (or were already here) in just one day on one person’s blog on one social media platform.  It’s not hard at all for me to think, yeah, I’m looking at us building aro/ace culture of our own, it’d be easy for an in-universe group of people to do the same, and the lack of romance and/or sex wouldn’t be them suppressing their feelings or lacking something fundamental about the human condition, either. That’s part of why the Jedi mean a lot to me--there are other things as well, I greatly value their “face the shit within yourself, acknowledge that shit, and then let that shit go, because holding onto it is poison that will hurt you”, as someone who came to the same conclusions long before I was ever a Star Wars fan.  I love the worldbuilding, I love the psychic space wizards aspects, I love how goddamned extra they are about everything, etc. But a culture that not only doesn’t prioritize romance/sex, but actively values other things and finds meaning in those things?  That we see they have friendships and connections all over the place, that they find joy and meaning in teaching their students (and learning from their students, just as much as they teach them), that they find joy in helping others and protecting others, that they love through different ways, that they love the galaxy around them, they love their brothers and sisters in the Force, that they love their community and their culture?  That they just don’t seem to really want love and romance? Even those that do feel romantic feelings (setting Anakin aside, of course) still find the Jedi path to be a fulfilling one.  Obi-Wan may have had romantic feelings for Satine (which was apparently fine, it’s about his commitment and where he places it, I’m pretty sure that was the whole point of the Obi-Wan/Satine relationship, to be a narrative foil for Anakin/Padme, where Anakin does prioritize his feelings for Padme over his morals and judgement, which results in disaster of epic proportions) but he is a fully realized character without them.  He loves--we see that with Qui-Gon, Ahsoka, Luke, Anakin--that he cares deeply, that he’s a compassionate person, that he lives a life that he considers satisfying.  He becomes a Force Ghost and we can see him looking out over Endor, at the things that have finally been set back to rights, and he’s happy. Even within canon, the Jedi that feel restless and like something is wrong in this galaxy, they’re not restless because they want romance/sex, but because they want to do more as Jedi.  They want to help more people, they want to do more good in the galaxy, and do you know how much that means to me?  That even those who are dissatisfied (setting aside those that leave the Jedi Order because they want to have romantic relationships, which are treated warmly by the Order and by the people who left, like Tula’s grandmother) don’t have to be shoved back into the same box so many mainstream properties shove the characters into?  That it’s not about how, oh, they want traditional nuclear families, but instead that they want MORE of what the Jedi are--more love as shown through service to others, more love as shown through helping others. Do you know what a relief it is to have a group of people who find fulfillment in the same kind of things that I do?  Friendships and helping others and learning/teaching about the galaxy around them and self-reflection/understanding and accomplishments the like?  That these are treated, not just as valuable, not even just as valuable, but morevaluable to these specific people?  Without demonizing that they’re totally cool with other people wanting romantic love?  DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH THAT MEANS TO ME? DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH IT MEANS THAT THE JEDI DON’T REALLY SEEM INTERESTED IN ROMANCE OR SEX AND INSTEAD FIND SATISFACTION IN OTHER THINGS?  THAT IT’S NOT ABOUT SUPPRESSING YOURSELF, BUT THAT PEOPLE SOMETIMES JUST REALLY DON’T CARE ABOUT THOSE THINGS.  SOMETIMES EVEN LARGE GROUPS OF PEOPLE. That the Jedi aren’t just “hey, this one Jedi can be read as aro/ace, that’s neat” but instead the Jedi said, “Hey, how about an ENTIRE CULTURE that vibes hard with aro/ace culture?”  That it’s the one mainstream culture that I can think of that really can be interpreted to say, “You’re not just an outlier, but YOU’RE THE NORM in this fictional society.”  Do you know what kind of value that has to me, as someone who only has the tiniest scraps of representation for this character or that character who maybe might be like me, but are rarely confirmed and are almost always The Different One?  Do you know what kind of value it has to me that it’s not just one or two of them, but that THE CULTURE ITSELF is where I would fit in?  That they built an entire society where nearly all of them seem to be Like Me? AN ENTIRE SOCIETY OF PEOPLE I WOULD FIT IN WITH? Which isn’t even getting into the worldbuilding specifics that are so much fun to play with--like, can you imagine what it would be like to have this psychic connection to this vast field of energy in the cosmos?  To be able to sense the feelings of others around you, to feel their presence even when they’re halfway across the galaxy, to just know what they’re feeling?  To be constantly surrounded by the lights of those souls that are gently nudging up against your own?  The warmth and peace of the Jedi Temple that isn’t just what you see/hear/touch, but also what permeates your very thoughts, the soothing balm on your soul that it would be? Can you imagine what it would be like to have this in your head all the time?
Tumblr media
A familiar sense of warmth, of belonging, of finding himself part of an endless lattice of connections that held him and everything else, each fixed in its proper place.  A Force. Romance and sex can be wonderful.  But they are not the sole defining qualities of what it means to be sentient or what it means to be fulfilled.  The Force being described as an endless lattice of connections and warmth, that sounds incredibly wonderful and human to me, that sounds incredibly fulfilling and like everything I could possibly want. That is what the Jedi seek and have found.  That is the foundation of their culture.  That is the culmination of their lives. This is why their relationships are so wonderful and I’m so glad that the iconic Jedi relationships, whether we as fans turn towards shipping them or not, whether we joke about how much you can read into them or not, are ones that are all about other aspects that are just as epic and important. Obi-Wan’s most iconic relationships are with Luke, Anakin, Qui-Gon, Ahsoka.  They’re all incredible ones and it’s not to disparage his feelings for Satine (I love them as a pairing, too!), but that his character is defined more by familial and platonic relationships being just as galaxy-shaking as romantic ones might have been in another story?  That means a lot to me. Anakin is, of course, driven by his romantic relationship with Padme, but think about how important his relationships with Obi-Wan and Ahsoka are, ones that don’t have to be seen through the lens of romance.  That the ultimate climax of the prequels was Anakin’s fight with Obi-Wan, a familial connection.  That the ultimate climax of TCW was about Ahsoka’s relationship with Anakin, another familial/platonic connection. Ahsoka is a rising star in the SW franchise and her most iconic connections are with Anakin and Rex, both of which do not have to be interpreted through the romantic/sexual lens, that are complete just as they are presented.  That even when she can no longer be a Jedi, even when that possibility is stolen from her, she still doesn’t need to be defined through romance or sex. Yoda has many important, iconic relationships and is such a central character to the mythos and mythology of Star Wars.  His relationship with Luke is one of the most foundational of the OT, his relationship with Obi-Wan is important when you dig further into the supplementary material, his relationship with Anakin creates some of the most memorable scenes of the prequels.  All without ever having him desire a girlfriend.  Hell, the movies had Yaddle right there and you know what?  She wasn’t Yoda’s girlfriend, he wasn’t her boyfriend, that’s not what they were to each other, because they didn’t really seem to have any desire for that. THAT’S ONE OF THE REASONS I LOVE THE JEDI.  They show compassion and care and love all over the place, but they do it through George Lucas’ views on how people should strive to be, and they do it not through romance, but through friendship and helping others and seeking greater understanding of self-knowledge and artistry through the Force, and none of that should ever make them lesser, just as aromantic and asexual people seeking those same things does not make them lesser. We are people who love just as much as anyone else, we have fulfilling and wonderful lives, I don’t know any aro/ace person who would really even want to change themselves, we find ourselves to be perfectly fantastic the way we are.  I don’t feel some part of me is missing, I don’t feel I’m less interesting because I’m aro/ace, I love being the way I am.  I love how much my friends and family mean to me, I love how much joy I get out of caring for animals or helping other people or even simply yelling about Star Wars with them.  My connections to people are just as wonderful as anyone else’s, regardless of how they’re not in the romantic/sexual category. And, so too are the Jedi.

Lightsaber Colour Headcanons
Literally no one asked for this, but a conversation on Dromund Kaas genchat prompted me to think about my approach to the colours of Lightsaber crystals. This is a general system I personally use for my own role play and character creation.
A Note: I personally prefer the lore ascribed to Kyber Crystals that was introduced in the Disney Canon. In this universe, all Kyber Crystals are colourless until bonded with by a Force User. Jedi tend to meditate and form a bond with their crystals. Sith use their hatred to dominate and corrupt the crystals through a process called ‘Bleeding’. It is also a rite of passage for Sith to claim a Kyber crystal from the hilt of a Jedi’s lightsaber. In the old Expanded Universe, Crystals just grew naturally and a Jedi could select any colour they desired. Red was typically synthetic, however naturally occuring red crystals existed too. While I personally prefer the new lore, I think my general headcanons for the 7 shades of colours work with both Expanded Universe and Canon lore.
As I said, there’s typically about 7 shades of colours:
BLUE - Blue is typically the colour associated with Jedi Guardians. These are Jedi that focus primarily on physical combat, protection and defense. Examples are obviously; Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Kanan Jarrus, Orgus Din, Satele Shan.
GREEN - Typically associated with Jedi Consulars, Jedi that prefer diplomacy and reasoning to achieve their goals. These Jedi are less likely to resort to violence but can fight if pressed to do so. Typical examples are Yoda, Kit Fisto, Ahsoka Tano during The Clone Wars, Luke Skywalker.
YELLOW - Yellow is the colour usually found within the Jedi Sentinel discipline. These Jedi tend to balance their martial skills and intellect to perform unique tasks within the Order. They are usually found out in the galaxy serving local systems, with investigation and infiltration of organisations and cults, working with governments to keep peace, and liaising with Jedi Order regarding potential recruits. Examples include: Bastila Shan, Atton Rand, Visas Marr.
ORANGE - There is no specified meaning behind the wielders of Orange Lightsabers however, SWTOR’s in-game codex lists them as a Sith/Dark Jedi colour. To that end, I personally tend to think of Orange as being the colour of Dark Sentinel types. One theory that has emerged is that Orange could be a colour related to Jedi and Force Users who never engage in physical combat however the existance of Yaddle, to me, disproves that.
PURPLE - Similarly to Orange, there is no in-universe explanation for this colour, however when looking at the users of Purple Lightsabers such as Mara Jade, Mace Windu, Revan, and Jaden Korr, there does seem to be a pattern of physical combat leaning Force Users, who have turned from the Dark Side, have been seduced by Dark Side, or are generally aggressive fighters. Essentially I consider this to be the mark of a Guardian-type who is dark side inclined.
RED - This is the colour of The Sith, at least typically. Adi Gallia utilised a red lightsaber crystal around the time of The Phantom Menace and switched to blue after the re-emergence of The Sith, no explaination was ever given that I can find. Red bladed lightsabers and their association with The Sith signify that the user has given themselves over to the Dark Side and let emotion control their actions. Typical examples would be Darth Maul, Darth Vader, Darth Sidious, Darth Malgus etc.
WHITE - There are only two notible examples of White Lightsabers in Star Wars media. The first and most iconic, is Ahsoka Tano in Rebels. The other is the Imperial Knights of The Fel Empire from Star Wars: Legacy comics. The Knights used Silver blades with simple uniform hilts. Both examples demonstrate a rejection of The Light Side and The Dark Side, instead following their own path as Ahsoka did, or swearing loyalty to another such as The Imperial Knights. Thus I infer that white symbolises a break from the strict binary of good and evil and instead dedicating life to other pursuits.
So, to get the obvious meta reasons out of the way. George Lucas was very binary on the colours; blue are for good guys, red is for bad guys. Green only came about because Luke’s lightsaber was difficult to distinguish against the blue sky during the Episode 6 Sarlaac pit scene. Purple only exists because Sam Jackson asked for it. White and Yellow only exist in Canon because Filoni and J.J. Abrams respectively thought they looked cool. George also insinuated that the Yellow that the Temple Guards use is only for them and they might not even by Kyber Crystals.
There is also the issue of The Darksaber. Considering the uniqueness of it’s blade it can’t even be said that it’s a true lightsaber or that it uses a Kyber crystal. There are multiple instances of Lightsabers being created with a myriad of stones, gems, and even glass. The black core and white crackling effect might be the result of some unique material found in the Mandalore system. The High Republic also showcases a character with what I think is a black lightsaber core in it’s concept art. I hope that project can shed some new light on these things.
This is also something that applies to synthetic Lightsaber crystals made my Jedi and Sith. While it was typically practiced by Sith, Jedi have been known to use Synthetic crystals too. Luke Skywalker’s green lightsaber in the old Expanded Universe was powered by a synthetic Green crystal that he forged in Obi-Wan’s hut on Tatooine.
Anyway that’s my word vomit on my personal readings of Lightsaber colours. Feel free to cyber bully me about it.

fun fact about the baby yoda thing: lucas himself deliberately made sure yoda's species never got a name. in order to keep it shrouded in secrecy. yoda, yaddle, and the child are the only known members
Tumblr media
Congrats, you’re the thousandth person to tell me this exact piece of Star Wars Trivia, and I still don’t care a single bit!
George Lucas also thought that underwear shouldn’t exist in space and if it did, Carrie Fisher would be strangled by her own bra. So I don’t give a shit about what he wanted to be “mysterious”.
The point of the post wasn’t “oh wow, I don’t know this easily google-able thing” the point of it was “lmao Star Wars, the most over-commercialized, over-explained franchise in history never named one of the most iconic species in its entire lore”

12 DAYS OF STAR WARS: AN ORIGINAL FANBOY-DRIVEN BLOG SERIES “EPISODE 7: SOME OF MY FAVORITE STAR WARS EU CHARACTERS”
Tumblr media
Here is a list not ranked of some of my favorite characters in the Star Wars Expanded Universe. Both canon and non-canon. *Specifically not gigantically main characters in the mainline saga films and ones who often have extensive material in tie-in media.*
GRAND ADMIRAL THRAWN
Tumblr media
In terms of comparing Star Wars characters to archetypes, Grand Admiral Thrawn is the evil Sherlock Holmes of the Star Wars galaxy. The smartest, most tactical, perhaps the most shocking Star Wars villain is Grand Admiral Thrawn. A character with a unique philosophy and battle strategy. He looks at the art of a civilization or planet in the beginning of Heir To The Empire where he can tell/figure out something about that civilization/species through their art which is fascinating. He is a unique, evenly tempered character and listens to what people have to say if they have good ideas. Thrawn is a character who is evil who also has control of his emotions. He isn’t like Kylo Ren who flips out on his macbook pro or is like “Fire Everything!” Thrawn is ultimately the antithesis of that. He is the antithesis to Darth Vader and The Emperor in terms of their philosophy which is perhaps scarier and his philosophy is ‘don’t let your emotions consume you’ and is as level-headed as Darth Vader and is very much all about power. He is an incredibly unique character and villain unlike any other in Star Wars lore. There is so much rich Thrawn material out there, from the various novels by Timothy Zahn such as the original Thrawn Trilogy: Heir To The Empire, Dark Force Rising & The Last Command. As well as the Modern Thrawn Trilogy (set before the events of his appearance in Star Wars Rebels) Thrawn, Alliances and Treason. As well as many, many others I have not mentioned.
MARA JADE
Tumblr media
She is a great character who starts from a very interesting place in Heir To The Empire who started out as a Force-sensitive Imperial assassin who is easily next to Thrawn, both are the best characters Timothy Zahn created in the Star Wars EU lore. She much like a lot of characters I will be talking about, are all truly authentic Star Wars characters. They all have the makings of a great iconic Star Wars character who went on an exciting redemptive journey across the EU from being an Imperial assassin who Palpatine wanted to kill Luke Skywalker to eventually become the wife of Luke Skywalker and mother of Ben Skywalker as a Jedi master. There was a lot that happened to her with the Yuuzhan Vong but everything about that outside of Mara Jade gives me a gigantic headache. Anyway she is a great character who should be integrated into the new canon and should be established to have been married to Luke. (In my personal headcanon Luke was married to Mara Jade in the gap between ROTJ and TFA) She just has one of the best character arcs in all of Star Wars and is a phenomenal character.
QUINLAN VOS
Tumblr media
One of my favorite characters in the Expanded Universe is Quinlan Vos who has stories in the comics that came out during the time of The Clone Wars comics of the early aughts written by John Ostrander. The story of him really goes across The Clone Wars. He is an incredible character who is ultimately an exploration of the ideas of the Dark Side and the Light Side and the temptation of the Dark Side and he kind of rides that line between the two. He is very much a rogue Jedi and kind of goes with the dark and dabbles towards it but ultimately is a good guy. His story in the Clone Wars from Ostrander is very pivotal to his character. Also Dark Disciple is another Quinlan Vos story that is in canon that is based on unused scripts of the modern Clone Wars episodes and that is as well a good Quinlan Vos story with his unique relationship with Asajj Ventress.
CADE SKYWALKER
Tumblr media
The main character of perhaps the best Star Wars things next to The Original Trilogy which is John Ostrander and Jaan Dursuma’s Legacy. He ultimately much like Quinlan Vos is an extremely fascinating character. He is a bounty hunter who has all but rejected his Jedi teachings and he does Death Sticks. He really dances on the line between Dark Side and Light Side in such an interesting way where there are things he does for good but he’s using Dark Side powers and bringing people back from the dead which is quote Palpatine in Revenge of The Sith “Unnatural…” He is a unique conflicted character and he is very much one of my favorite characters in Star Wars lore. He is very much like Quinlan Vos the archetypal John Ostrander dark Jedi character in a good way.
BOBA FETT
Tumblr media
I love Boba Fett. He’s got a bad reputation now especially with a show about a super competent Mandalorian who is ‘The Mandalorian’ who is clearly not Boba Fett because of a thing that he does at the end of the pilot episode that Boba Fett would never do. Boba Fett ultimately unknown to the general mainstream public truly is not just a bum/incompetant clone/bounty hunter that ended up in Sarlacc Pit. He was once a and almost had a solo-novel written by Karen Traviss (A great Star Wars writer who wrote many great books such as The Republic Commando series, also has an obsession with Mandalorians) However in-canon as of now, Boba Fett died in Sarlacc Pit and ultimately the badass Boba Fett pre-1999 EU is now alive and well in The Mandalorian.
DARTH MAUL
Tumblr media
One of the boldest creative decisions in all of Star Wars was in the fourth season of the modern Clone Wars TV Show which was a moment I remember seeing on television for the first time which is… The Return of Darth Maul. This led to what I call the “Maul Resurgence” where after I watched that story arc in television I was obsessed with Maul and had a connection to Maul outside of the double-bladed lightsaber and the spiky horns I was fascinated by his rivalry, connection and hatred of Obi-Wan Kenobi. I read the novel by Michael Reaves that was a prequel to Phantom Menace which was Shadow Hunter. Which established his backstory as being raised by Palpatine and was inflicted with Sith tattoos and was originally a Zabrak (which changed due to The Clone Wars he is now a…Dathomir. He is ultimately an assassin told he’s a Sith, not really a proper Dark Force user, he was a mad dog on Palpatine’s leash that became used everywhere. He is very much the prequel’s Boba Fett where he looks super cool and most of the public doesn't know he survived after his initial cheap death where they got a comeback and more development. In The Clone Wars He spent years in shame and squalor and when he gets power back and gains composure you see he learned the lessons Sidious/Palpatine taught him and that’s what makes his duel with him, Oppress and Sidious/Palpatine so impressive is that you can make the argument that Maul was legitimately a threat to Sidious. He is capable of being a thrilling and terrifying threat. As a Maul fan My favorite scene in Solo: A Star Wars Story is when you learn he is the head of the criminal organization of Crimson Dawn and the idea of him being a crime lord is genius. His story is ultimately perfectly wrapped up in Rebels in perhaps my favorite and in my opinion the most epic lightsaber fight in all of Star Wars which is his last battle with Kenobi. It’s an old-school epic samurai fight with such ambience and power and perfectly ends Maul story and captures the evolution of Obi-Wan and Maul’s relationship.
THE CHILD
Tumblr media
The social media phenomenon himself gets what he / she deserves and is perhaps my favorite youngling in Star Wars lore (sorry, no disrespect to characters like Ashoka). It may seem like I’m hopping on the bandwagon but I really am not, outside of Yoda and Yaddle I believe, there is one other character who is of the same species who fans often mention and even casual or non fans mention a lot who is The Child. There is ultimately I think going to be a solid reason as to why he is such a phenomenon. Much like these other characters this is something about The Child that is distinctive and unique in that all of these characters are wholly their own and go on their own journeys and I’m sure The Child will be one of them. He is young for his species only fifty years old and has a long, long life ahead of him in a galaxy far, far away…

Dan Watches: Star Wars: Episode I -The Phantom Menace
So.. I got the idea of writing my thoughts up as I go basically as they get to the Gungan city so.. i’ll try and remember my thoughts before that and then I’ll do it kinda live. Under the cut cus long.
Alright.. So the opening crawl was very.. politics which to be honest as i’ve got older I actually kind of enjoy that side of Star Wars but it doesn’t really add anyhting to the actual film because I think everything thats in it could be picked up by just watching the film.
I kinda like the battle droids.. weird soft spot for them. I like the big ship ones too and Droidekas i thought were the coolest shit ever when i was a kid and i stand by that.
I’m not all that bothered by the racial stereotypes because like.. i’m not the races they’re sterotyping but i can see why it’d be problematic.
Jar Jar isn’t as annoying as everyone makes him out to be.. don’t get me wrong.. he’s annoying.. but he’s not cancer.
Aesthetically the Gungan City is pretty cool, giant underwater bubble city.. i bet there’s cool fan art of it somewhere.
Alright now we’re live.. The duck things the Gungans ride are weird.
Do Gungans like JarJar eventually become the giant Green guy? .. I googled apparently they’re just two different races of Gungan despite looking like totally different Aliens.
It’s nice that all races are like “Life debt? Oh yeah thats a legit thing.”
Gungans speak like English or Common or.. i forget the Star Wars term.. Basic? is their second language.. but it isnt.
Yooo Qui Gon just made JarJar go to sleep using the force.. Why is Force Sleep not a thing in more stuff... gotta keep an eye out for that now.
Naboo is pretty.
Padme is so extra, she’s in her iconic red dress that’s already extra as fuck and then sees that she’s been captured and is like “Alright.. but first.. wardrobe change!” and then shows up in some black number. I’m not sure if at this point she’s actually Padme or if Padme is pretending to be one of her servants now but either way she had a costume change and nobody questions it so she must be having costume changes all the time.
When Qui Gon force pushes two battle droids theres a really weird sound effect that sounds like it belongs in a mario game.
Pretty sure Padme is the handmaid now and this new Queen should take the opportunity to be like “Yoo peace out bitches.” Then we get Keira Knightley’s adventures in Star Wars.
Also who was she before this swaparoo? Was she a handmaid and just suddenly got promoted to queen? Like she could be saying all sorts of shit. I know she gets revealed later on but think of how much she could do whilst Padme is away.
The first words ever spoken to R2 in Star Wars, chronologically, (although inderectly) are “Hello Boyos”. Just sit with that.
The first words spoken to him directly are “How rude.” which seems about right tbf with how sassy he is.
Darth Maul is awesome.
Keira Knightly or Sabe (I looked it up) is like “Yo actual queen, clean that droid!” i think she just wanted to feel more powerful than the actual queen there, little power trip.
Nice Poncho Qui Gon. Cal approves.
I wonder how long Padme took to convince the others to let her go off alone with Qui Gon and Jar Jar and R2 (Dunno why R2 joins them?) on a planet thats ruled by the Hutts
I kinda like Watto.. not as a person.. he just amuses me.
Kinda cool that Anakin can speak Huttese, wish he spoke it more often.. just cursing in Huttese as Obi Wan tries to teach him stuff.
“Are you an Angel.” Smooooth kid. Smoooth, you’re gonna get with her. Despite her being way older than you. They couldn’t have just made him the same age as her?
Toydarians should be used for more things, especially involving force users.
Anakin. The slave. Is like “Here Qui Gon, you’ll like this food.” and he’s just like “Cheers” and pockets it for later. Dude. Try it.
I really hope they do go into more High Republic stuff next, give me a Destiny-type game where you play as a Jedi with your mates.
Quigons like “You must have Jedi reflexes to race pods” Then he catches Jar Jars tongue in a blink of an eye and Anakins like “You’re a Jedi Knight aren’t you?” And Qui-Gon is like “What makes you think that?” ...? .. You just fucking.. God damn it Qui-Gon.
Anakin: “No one can kill a Jedi”. Palpatine: “Hold my Blue milk.”
I feel like im becoming fluent in Gungan broken basic which is worrying.
Anakins mom whos name i’ve literally just forgot is like “He was meant to help you.” ... bitch.. what? Why does nobody question that?
WHY DOES JAR JARS MOUTH MOVE WITH OTHER PEOPLES LINES!? ... Darth Jar Jar.  #PlagueisTheWiseWasAGungan. I mean not rly but seriously.. that would have been a really cool plot twist.
Jar Jar got numbed and got his hand stuck.. so like.. perhaps not.. otherwise you’re playing a little too dumb mate.
The look of worry from Shmi, good stuff.
The two Headed announcer speaking basic and Huttese is pretty smart like, the one doing one and the other doing the other.
What the fuck is Clegg Holdfast?
What the fuck are any of these races? Like.. where are these races throughout the rest of the franchise?
Crazy that lightly bending that one part of the podracer can fuck it up so bad.
Who the fuck is that other Hutt? Oh yeah I’m watching the like updated version with Geroge Lucas’ “Fixes” in it. Probably should have said that earlier.
I cant remember if this is true but I’m pretty sure Qui-Gon knows Padme is the Queen and is just fucking with her at this point.
Man Pod Racing is cool, fuck whoever says it isnt.
Gimmie an updated Pod Racing ps4 game.
What the fuck is that long thin alien thats selling food to the crowd? Gimmie a Jedi version of him.
Havent commented in a while because i just kept watching it tbh.
Coruscant looks cool. Still want more High Republic stuff.
What the fuck is that driver alien, he looks in pain to exist.
“There is no civility, there is only politics” The Chancellor code.
Is it too late to call a vote of no confidence on Palpatine?
I see you there in the background Yaddle. Get it girl.
Fuck me the added extra of this long neck ass Jedi Master is so distracting.
Where Jaro Tapal at tho?
You’d think after Padme’s like “Surprise bitch it’s me” moment coming up the Jedi would be like “Well shit.. maybe we’re less aware of things than we think... Yoda.. are you just a short human painted green?”
Amedala... So extra with these outfits. I get that she’s a Queen but Jesus.
Eyyyyyyyyyyyy it’s ET.
Qui-Gon is such a bad boy.
I kinda get why Jedi take kids when they’re really young, so they can’t remember their parents so they aren’t constantly worried about their parents and then fall to the dark side... doesn’t make it any nicer though.
My vote went to Bail Antilles.
To be fair not training Anakin could have been very bad. He could have like gone even more Darkside and Palpatine could swooped in and trained him himself completely.
Maul is barely in this but fuck is he still cool.
You know what I don’t hate Midichlorians. They’re just like atoms that stick to certain people and thats what gives them access to the force, it doens’t really change anything it’s just a scientific explination.
You know what.. During the middle of the film, Jar Jar keeps his mouth shut and just lets people get on with it, that’s alright.
How old is Obiwan supposed to be in this film?
A little more variation in these creepy ass gungans would be nice.
Damn the Viceroy and the other guy are huge or Maul is smol.
Love that Gungan dindgeridoo horn thing.
I also love the giant bubble shields.
Are they watching a Star Wars battle tactics pc game on that screen?
Fuck The Darth Maul fight is badass.
I don’t buy Anakin at all, he wants to fly out there and get involved, the little shit.
Quigon doesnt even flip when he jumps, he’s just like “I’m too old for this shit.”
Yeah R2 is like “Go back” and Anakins like “Naaa fuck that”... Tut tut. Boys gonna be trouble.
The way Maul stalks back and forth the other side of that barrier like a Sith Tiger.. Good shit.
Aaaaand Quigon is dead. RIP.
“Now This is Pod Racing.”.. It’s not though is it?
Nice to have something blow up and actually have debris instead of just all being gone completely.
Anddd there goes Maul to go get robot spider legs and then be found by his bro Savage.
Why do you wanna bring balance to the force anyway if it’s currently so one sided favouring the light side? Surely bringing balance is a bad thing at that point.
Yoda’s already soooo old.
Alright so they know there’s a Sith out there and the guy is still just like right next to them and they don’t know. Tut.
That Jedi behind Mace Windu at the end looks intimidating as shit.
Padme, he’s a kid, calm yourself down woman. You predator.
Alright.. Film done. 10/10 Best movie ever. Naa tbh I enjoy the prequels more than most, obviously if you’ve stuck with me this long you know that but it clearly has its flaws.. still.. I enjoyed it! Feel free to ask me my opinions on specific things if you want.  Also shamelessly gonna plug my two star wars muses Cal and Savage here, rp with me you cowards. Also I’m down to star wars verse any of my other characters, literally any of them, i have ideas for all.

👽 - coolest species?
I admit my mind has been turning over the concept of Yoda and Yaddle recently. They’re comfortable in swamps, have some vaguely amphibious features, but... have claws? And hair?? Considering we know very little about their species, I’m trying to figure out the puzzle pieces in the gaps that have been left by Lucas and others. Right now their species is the most interesting, but they’re probably one of the coolest, too.
🏝 - most iconic line in your opinion?
Lmao I actually haven’t memorized as much as anyone thinks. I do like that one bit in a novel where Anakin has to announce himself when he enters Padme’s suites so she doesn’t shoot him by accident 😂 The other bit I like is right before Obi-Wan visits the natives on Utapau to find Grievous - he’s joking with Cody to leave some droids for them.
🌓 - light, dark, or grey?
Hmm, good philosophical question. I wrote a huge paragraph for this and deleted it, but- I’m torn between “grey” and “none of the above”.

Who is Child Yoda? Everything we understand concerning Star Wars: The Mandalorian's prettiest personality.
The androids and Ewoks in Return of the Jedi crawled to make sure that the porgs as well as ice foxes in The Last Jedi could walk so that Child Yoda could run (or like, float, I think). I don't recognize if this is my preferred episode of the program, but it's still great, and I believe it's one of the most emotionally powerful until now, more than a lot of character beats have actually remained in the live action Celebrity Wars movies, honestly. Simply when he will ditch his little ward and move on, one more bounty hunter tracks him to the town, indicating it's no longer risk-free for either of them. So they both need to leave, and we will possibly never ever see that rather widow once more.

That in a single week of flicks as well as television we found out about Pressure recovery and also Strand-Casts, Sith spirit transfer, along with our previous expertise that Child Yoda as well as cloning are in some way related, appears to be indisputable. Palpatine later on changes the Republic into the oppressive Galactic Empire, proclaiming himself emperor permanently, and orders the clone troopers to eliminate their Jedi generals.
What race is Yoda?
Yoda trained Jedi for 800 years, finally peacefully dying at age 900 in 1983's Return of the Jedi. He still shows up as a Force ghost, however, to advise and help characters in need. And apparently he was born naturally, however this species reproduces.
Yoda's syntactic singularity is apparently an outgrowth of the exact same internal calmness that makes him such an efficient warrior. Espindola believes that Yoda's speech is insane, but crazy like an extremely type fox. This five-toed version remains the least utilized in any type of version of Star Wars media. Adults of the species were defined by sharp, elfin ears, ridges on their foreheads, tridactyl hands and also (most typically) anisodactyl feet. The diet regimen of one of the most renowned participant of the types, Jedi Master Yoda, consisted of nutrient most various other beings thought about revolting.
Is Yoda a Sith baby?
Baby Yoda is not a Sith, nor is he a Jedi. He is a blank slate with the potential to become either one.
We've already seen someone gunning for Infant Yoda (HOLE, Taika Waititi droid), so whoever hired him will probably send out others to complete the task. Because it passed long before they might utilize it, possibly the Resistance isn't speaking regarding an additional Yoda. There is a Yoda-species youngster, referred to right here as Child Yoda since we don't have a name for its species, or for the kid itself. We'll just need to chalk this up to types maturing in a different way.
They live for centuries and also are understood for being Force-sensitive, which makes them great Jedi.
As a result, it is highly likely that the Yoda species is actually a sentient plant or fungus.
We understand that theStar Warsuniverse is a very, large location.
Palpatine has now generated near-dictatorial emergency situation powers, and begins interfering in Jedi events by assigning Anakin as his individual rep on the Council.
The Phantom Hazard hints extremely strongly that the future Darth Vader had no dad and also was conceived by the Midi-chlorians. Maybe the similarly Force-sensitive Child Yoda came into existence at the very same time similarly, as part of the Midi-chlorians' initiatives to bring balance to the pressure. Cloning is a big component of the Star Wars universe-- indeed, clones dealt with an entire war-- so the concept went that Infant Yoda might be a young duplicate of the original design. Nonetheless, in Chapter 7 of the program, Kuiil (Nick Nolte) remarks that the personality does not look like he's been crafted, based on his experience on genetics ranches. The Child Yoda duplicate theory recommends that Dr Pershing is really a cloning researcher, based on the icons on his attire.
By the time the occasions of Rise of Skywalker take place, Infant Yoda would in theory remain in its mid-70s-- as old as or older than a lot of major players-- yet by its types' rate of aging, it would still be a toddler. Twenty-six years is not a lot of time for an animal who lives to be 900.
What kind of creature is Yoda?
Being 50 years old means Baby Yoda was born the same year as the chosen one, Anakin Skywalker. (The Mandalorian takes place five years after the fall of the Empire, and Anakin was 45 when he sacrificed himself on the second Death Star.)
youtube
We do understand, however, that Yoda's varieties is naturally solid with the Pressure-- and also not just because Yoda himself had an exceptionally successful occupation as a Jedi master. Even as an infant, Baby Yoda has the power to levitate a giant (as well as upset) Mudhorn, while the only other participant of the species to feature on screen, as mentioned earlier, was Yaddle, a female member of the Jedi Council. The end of The Mandalorian period 2 recommends that its titular lead character will be searching for Infant Yoda's homeworld.
Does Baby Yoda stay with mandalorian?
Return of the Jedi (1983) Yoda then peacefully dies at the age of 900, his body disappearing as he becomes "one with the Force". He leaves Luke with the knowledge that "there is another Skywalker".
Tumblr media
When the production group presented Child Yoda to the The Mandalorian's story, it's unlikely the retailing bosses at Disney were grumbling. Certainly, personalities as adorable as him are a dream come to life for any individual who wishes to sell lots of toys and also apparel-- unsurprisingly, there's already some merch available (including the unpreventable Funko Pop! Plastic number). We 'd be really surprised, however, if it didn't have something to do with the Pressure-- and also reconstructing the Realm right into what will certainly become the First Order in Episodes 7, 8 and also 9. Maybe they're planning on eliminating the Midi-chlorians (Force-carrying particles) from his blood-- that would explain why they were so crazy about capturing Baby Yoda active. Likely as an outcome of the above disparity, various Hasbro activity figures of Yoda created considering that Return of the Jedi have featured 3, four or five toes in a variety of arrangements.
