“I don’t-“ you’re fighting back the tears you didn’t think you had. “I can’t do this anymore.”

He looks so small sitting on the bench in front the large bay window in his apartment. His shoulders slumped, his head hanging low. The moonlight shining down on his silhouette.

This hurts. It hurts so much more then you had imagined.

You want to run your fingers through his hair. To hold him close and breathe in his scent. But, you know you can’t.

You slowly try to pull away from him, but then you feel his fingers lightly touch yours. Pleading you to stay.

It stops you from moving. From breathing. Holding on to this moment for as long as you can.

This is the Tsuki you fell in love with. The one who isn’t afraid to be scared. The one who let down his walls of defense, even if by accident.

“Please don’t-” his voice is so soft you can barely hear him. You can feel his fingers softly trying to intertwine with yours. “Don’t go.”

You squeeze your eyes shut. Forcing the tears back. Forcing yourself not to cave in.

You feel his other hand firmly grip the hem of your sweater. You look down at him. He looks up at you with glowing golden eyes, piercing you right in your soul.

Your breath trembles as you try to find your voice. To protest and tell him he needs to let you go. But nothing comes out.

You bite your lip and slowly take a step back. Letting his hand fall from yours. Your sweater softly tugging against his grip.

His eyes still locked with yours. Blurred by the tears you didn’t know had welled up.

You take a sharp breath and whisper “goodbye Tsuki.” Turning away from his out stretched hand that once held on to you.
