I'm sitting here, considering my next manuscript to work on. I have a military thriller set post-Gulf War 1 dealing with the unexplained deaths of those who served in Iraq. There's a passionate sub-plot romance. Hetero.

I want to change this to lesbian representation--with the "don't ask-don't tell" law still in place. The POV character is in a relationship with a hard-ass FBI behavioral unit special agent. He's draconian in the way he tries to enforce "traditional" gender roles in their relationship. Early on, there's a graphic scene of them as she BJs him. He shoves her to the ground as he screams, "Never get on your knees for me!"

Yeah, an unpleasant guy in a sexual straitjacket.

Enter "Murder Doc" Commander Janey Murdoch. Successful Navy officer and pathologist.

These two women have a passionate, lava-hot attraction to each other from day one.

What do y'all think about this rewrite? I came out in 2015. I want to do something that really speaks to women who've been so traumatized by men, they allow themselves to finally reveal their women-loving leaning.
