On both sides of the long, mottled table, Justice Audrey, The Hanged Man Alger, The Sun Derrick, The Magician Fors, The Moon Emlyn, The Hermit Cattleya, The Star Leonard, and Judgment Xio appeared in the order they joined the Tarot Club.
But this time, they weren’t real. They were only projections. They no longer appeared blurry, revealing their images from Klein’s memory.
Soon after, more figures appeared. They were:
A mature man with a receding hairline with deep eyes; a beautiful witch with blue eyeshadow and red blush; a middle-aged man with black hair mixed with silver hair, his voice unusually loud and sonorous; a woman in her late forties with ear-length short-hair; a youth that gamed on his phone while eating delicacies; a happy young lady who kept giggling; a civil servant who looked old than his age with a high hairline; a young girl dressed in an old-fashioned skirt who focused on machinery; a doll-like lady with a pale face; a teacher with soft facial features and bronze skin; a child licking on ice cream; a madam holding four heads; and an elder looking all serious at a bill…
They either sat or stood, gathering beside the people they knew. In the flickering candlelight on the long table, they discussed different things, followed the music, and danced.
Klein silently watched the lively scene as his expression gradually softened.
Fuck this shit, I'm tearing up. UGHHHH T^T

Soooooo
I’ve been working on 4 stories for a long time, I’m not sure if anyone is interested but I’m still going to share a bit about them (only 1 of the stories does have a name- the other 3 don’t have a name yet)
EJEM
1:
Our protagonist Xio Rilac, a 16-year-old girl who isn’t going through the best situation, her father is unemployed and an alcoholic, I think by saying those things it’s very clear of what kind of situation she is going through. Our protagonist one day finds a somewhat curious book, the book was written in an unknown language, apparently it seemed to be from another world, a world called "katakiz" in which it was full of creatures from many different worlds.
Apparently the author who wrote the book had been on earth before since in certain parts of the book she noticed many annotations in our language, in one of those annotations there was something… curious it was like a poem talking about katakiz, when Xio reads it a portal opened showing the world of katakiz.
2:
Our story begins in space, as always being a beautiful place full of stars, planets and galaxies, but… there is a figure of something… an astronaut? an alien? no…. the creator of the moon…. Phoenix
A being that seems to be made of stone, having dark blue skin with a rather curious scar that covers almost the entire part of his face, completely white eyes that hide a look of sadness and pain…. . A boy with a great passion for creating moons, hm? What do I mean by moons? In addition to being the creator of the moon in his universe… he is always in charge of creating all the moons of all possible universes… just like the creator of the sun… his best friend… Eleniol the creator of the sun.
3:
Giant floating islands….ruled by a great king…the lider of everything…King Athalaric….the king almost never shows himself to his kingdom…almost no one knows anything about him or his 5 children… whose names are unknown except for the youngest and the middle one…. Layla and Cyne… some think that Prince Cyne escaped but others think that he is dead… as for Layla… many in the kingdom know her as an innocent and kind, brave girl always trying to do her best, although her family specifically her brothers see her as a parasite just for being born. Or to be more specific, they see her as the murderer of their mother.
Before Layla's birth, the 4 siblings weren’t close, they never were, not even after Layla's birth, they only saw each other as strangers who lived under the same roof that shared the same blood, If they weren't brothers they would probably hate each other a lot.
They didn’t love being the king's children since he’s a very serious person who sometimes seems to have no feelings, but that was only their point of view because their mother the queen had a very different opinion of them, she saw him as a person who tried hard to make his children happy and tried to care about them but he just didn't know how to express it. If it weren't for their mother, maybe they would have revealed themselves to him… Their mother's death was the most devastating thing that happened to them… although before she died she asked them to take care of her sister… even though that was the promise they were never able to keep.
And for last
4: No voice
How nice…an ordinary world, oh wait no-
Humans and different creatures living in the same world where they live in peace. Oh wait, I'm wrong again- because by pure miracle a peace contract was made between humans and different creatures….although not all humans were in agreement with this… and this is where an old man, about 60 years old, comes in… he doesn’t agree with this and those creatures are monsters in his eyes… that's why he created a weapon that would eliminate them all… a girl who just follow orders…a puppet… whom he decided to call "Ilda".
He gave the order to Ilda to kill all possible creatures… the murders began to occur… the authorities tried to find the murderer but she never left any trace… they began to interrogate all the humans who didn’t agreed with the peace contract since it was not a pure coincidence that all the corpses they found were only those of creatures and never of humans. Ilda's creator began to worry that if they discovered him it was likely that they would kill him, so he made a somewhat unexpected decision… he changed his identity and moved to another city where he also joined a church with Ilda. so as not to raise suspicion… he told Ilda to speak kindly to people including the creatures but that she could NOT make any friends or that she could leave the church unless it was at night to kill more creatures, Ilda for obvious reasons Ilda, for obvious reasons, did what she was told, she played her role as a nun well, so much so that it got to the point that everyone loved her very much, this did not make the creator very happy… but he let it pass since the plan was not to get discovered so he stopped worrying about it… Until one day a boy arrived, this boy had been taken to the church by force since he was a problematic boy, so his soul had to be purified. And that's how he met Ilda, she seemed very pretty to him since that's also why they knew her for her beauty, the boy seemed interested in her and tried to approach her although she never managed to talk to him with a conversation as such. .. the weeks passed and this boy found it strange that she did the same thing every day or that she only did what her creator told her…
and that’s it
if you want to know more details then ask me :3 you just write the number of the story and write your question and with all pleasure I will answer it

The Miys, Ch. 203
I haven’t gotten a chance to have these two argue for quite some time... Overall, it was a blast in the end. As always, thanks go to @baelpenrose for beta reading, especially since this chapter wasn’t exactly smooth to write, no matter how the finished product turned out.
Reader shout outs this week: @thelorg and @crazyotakufanluv23.  I always like when those new names pop up ;).
Despite knowing it had only been three minutes since the last time, I flipped open my datapad to check the time. Xiomara wasn’t late, per se, but I had somewhat expected her to be here by now.  Granted, we weren’t meeting in one of our offices like usual, and were roughly ten decks from hers, but the urgency was implied.
At least, I hoped a message that just said to meet me here to discuss “what Charly’s done” would imply urgency.
“What did she do now!?” a stern voice came over my shoulder, making me jump.  Turning, I saw Xio standing, a thin veneer of sweat from clearly having run flat out, hands on her hips. “I was in the Archive, or I would have been here sooner.”
Oh. “We can talk about it in here,” I answered, tipping my head toward the hatch that was barely visible.
Her eyes narrowed in suspicion, and I could only imagine what she thought I was about to tell her if it required this room. Nonetheless, she went ahead of me into the maintenance shaft and confidently marched until her feet left the deck.  Years ago, I had been envious of how gracefully she adapted to the freefall found here in the balance point of the Ark, but thankfully my training had at least fixed that.
Her movements were small and precise as she turned to face me. “Now. What did Charly do this time? How bad is it? Did she somehow piss off some space pandas?”
The mental image made me snort. “Nothing even remotely that bad. She managed to spec out and engineer a suspension exoskeleton for Teeth.  It can even be adjusted to let them do physical therapy under what basically amounts to spot gravity, which means they can get out of the medbay for at least part of the day.”
“You called me up here on my day off for THAT!?”
I rolled my eyes. “It’s a matter of security.”
“That could have waited until Monday?”
“Charly is willing to share the specs with the Council with one caveat and it’s a firm one, so I figured it was worth interrupting your free time.” Sort of. I mean, it was part of the reason I sent her the meeting. That wasn’t entirely lying, right?
Xiomara closed her eyes with a huge sigh and pinched the bridge of her nose.  Without a word, she rolled her wrist in a “get on with it” gesture.
“We can’t militarize the exo. Ever. Can’t even make one for peacekeeping purposes, or base one off the design. She was pretty strict about that. For construction and therapeutic purposes, only.”
That got her eyes to snap open. “You’re kidding, right?”
Shaking my head sent me into a slow spin, but I forced myself to stare ahead as the room seemed to float around me. “Dead serious. Otherwise, she keeps the design and will personally use you to sue the absolute crap out of anyone who uses it without a very lengthy contract, which she will also use you to right.”
“Ugh. Fine. I’ll draw up the contract to put before the Council, and let her approve all provisions before I even present it. What was her plan if I had said no?”
Finally, I was facing her again. Silently taking the arm she was holding out to stop my spin, I shrugged. “She’s the foster mother to the heir apparent of the Squid Queen.  I tried not to ask.”
Swiping a hand down her face roughly, she muttered. “The Eldritch abomination jokes have entered reality, sure, why not? They are now a plausible threat.” Rolling her neck to re-focus herself, she scowled at me. “At least she didn’t start a war.  I probably spent half the run up to this level expecting you to tell me that she somehow issued a challenge to the Eko-mari for dueling pistols at twenty paces over Noah’s civil rights or something.”
My eyes widened and I swallowed thickly.
“Oh, come ON! There’s no way - “
“Miys wants to defect.”
My blurted statement left Xiomara gaping like a fish.  The last time I had seen her so caught off guard, it involved Parvati and a lot of vodka, but this definitely wasn’t a happy gape. “How - what? How did she - “
I cut off her sputtering. “It wasn’t Charly. It was me. Sort of.” Hurriedly, I rushed out an explanation. “They spoke to me in quarters a week ago, which was weird enough, and suggested I take up mycology? But then they suggested something with the crops that just didn’t sound right, and when Conor was home, they actually showed up, and explained that they wanted to move down to the planet with us and really heavily implied they will suicide if we don’t because they know what the Geecee is doing and - “
We went careening when she grabbed my shoulders and shook me gently. “Breathe. Please. If you suffocate in here, I don’t want to explain it to… well, anyone. Just a bad idea all the way around.”
“They wanna come with us,” I stated lamely. “That’s the real reason I wanted you to come down - up, whatever - here. I just said Charly did something because I knew you wouldn’t even think to try to postpone it.”
“Eyeah. Good call,” she admitted tersely. “I want to say you could have used literally anything else, but there’s no chance it would have worked like that did.”
“And it needed to be something you would think was really bad for you to come here, and not your office, yeah.”
“I think this qualifies.” Gently pushing us back to the center of the room, she closed her eyes in thought for a moment. “Where is Conor hiding the test data?”
“I can’t - how the hell did you figure that out so fast?” I was so confused. I mean, she was right, but I was really confused how she figured that out.
Thankfully, she spoke slowly. “You mentioned Conor. If he heard this, there isnt any scenario I can imagine where your botanically minded golden retriever of a partner isn’t trying to figure out how to make it work. Which means tests, which means test data. It has to be stored somewhere.”
I nodded, following along. “No.”
“No he isn’t helping, or no he isn’t storing data…?”
“No, I’m not telling you the answers to any of that.”
Her eyes hardened quickly, and I was grateful that my trembling didn’t show in zero gee - there was no chance of an altercation ending in her not kicking my ass, but it would at least take a while. Well, longer than it would have six years ago, anyway. “I’m the Councilor in charge of Safety and Security. There is no way this doesn’t fall under my jurisdiction. You are over Resources and Engagement. It is decidedly not under your purview.”
“I’m also not required, in any jurisdiction, to testify against myself,” I pointed out while straightening my spine. “I’m also not required to make you an accomplice.”
Her head shook slightly, but a smirk also briefly flashed on her face. “Accomplice to what, exactly?”
“If Miys does join us on Von, with our knowledge, and specifically with our help?” I started ticking charges off on my fingers. “Sedition, kidnapping, and theft under human law. Treason, kidnapping, war crimes, and civil rights violations under Hujylsogox law. Along with their restrictions against whole-being murder, violation of several relocation conventions, and it would also mean that Noah would be on trial for desertion, theft, and potential genocide if our relocation doesn’t work out.”
“They would try us for kidnapping Noah, and Noah for desertion?”
“Mm hmm. Funny laws happen with hive minds, apparently.”
Another sigh. “Still, it’s my job. Not yours.”
Poor, poor Xiomara. “As you pointed out, your job is Safety and Security - for ten thousand humans. You have exactly one person who can replace you in the event you are put on trial, and she would be implicated just by association.” I stretched an arm out to set myself into a spin again, this time on purpose so I wouldn’t have to see her face at my next statement.
“Also to your point, I’m just a glorified HR department. Kind of like the head of the merchant’s council rolled into the census bureau and employment office. I also have two replacements, three in a pinch, and in a really bad pinch, the Council can split up the duties of my office until someone can be trained or appointed.  A determined hamster could do my job. Not well, but still.”
No one in the galaxy or this reality could fall on a sword like a Reid.
“So you really aren’t going to tell me what was decided.”
“Nope. So you now are aware that it might happen, and if we’re found out, you can chuck me and Conor under the bus while you drive it.” My heart felt like I had stabbed it with a blunt object when I acknowledged that my earlier rambling had implicated Conor, but my brain reminded me that even if he hadn’t known, he would have thrown himself under there with me.  Maverick still might, if it came down to it.  “But I had to make sure you weren’t caught off guard if anything does happen and ends up going south.  You’re my friend first, coworker second, and I couldn’t live with myself without filling you in.”
If Xio said anything, it didn’t make it past the rush of blood in my ears as my heart pounded. Without another word, I kicked a leg out to bring me back toward the gravity well, walking away as calmly as possible.
Right now, a heavy bag sounded like a good idea.

About Bruce & his people
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bruce is complicated. He grew up a bookworm and a geek, and worked hard for good grades. But dating? Not so much.
Tumblr media
Guess that’s what happens when you’re raised by the Honorable Sabrina Broussard. She kept him out of trouble and is very proud of him. But they couldn’t be more different. He had the same best friend through high school and college. When his parent’s divorced, Sabrina has been working out, living her best life and is even thinking of dating again (more on that later).
Tumblr media
Speaking of best friends, this is Manu. They’ve gone from two dorks who got absolutely no play, to two intelligent good men with equally intelligent good women by their sides.
Tumblr media
Manu has a degree in literature like Bruce. He’s a professor now, and is putting his hat in the ring to become Dean.
Tumblr media
His partner Xiomora (Xio) has a degree in Biology and quit her job as a scientist to go back to University to get her Medical degree. Fully seeing Manu’s potential, she snapped him up in college. (✏️More on these two in the next workshop post)
Tumblr media
Spending time with them has got him to thinking about his own future. Now that he’s moved in with Esther, maybe it’s time start giving his career some serious thought. Does he want to keep working at the publishing house, or does he want more?
✏️ 4 more workshop posts until you know what - almost a shame. I’m having so much fun in development land!

No hesitation, Xio was getting a mistletoe kiss. It didn't matter if Baz had to playfully chase her down with the tiny, green sprig, he was going to kiss the lady who had stolen his heart.
"Xiooooo," the orc sang. "Xio? Where did..?"
She had vanished. The house wasn't that big and there weren't that many places to hide this damn effectively. If she wanted to really scare him like this, she could.
"Xio? Come on. This isn't funny."
Tumblr media
With pure strength and dedication to mischief, Xiomara cloistered herself above the doorframe awaiting her pursuer. The orc is pounced upon from above, only just as he started to become concerned.
        “You!”
Both arms and a single bronze leg wrap over his shoulders. Her other leg coiled around the man’s ribs. “Why are you chasing me with your fertility stick, hm?” Hands taking his jaw to tip his head back. Meeting Baz’s eyes from her perch atop him. “Surely, we should talk about this BEFORE you begin the virility blessings.” She’s only partly serious. That is her knowledge of tradition, but she has no idea of his custom for the white-berried branch.

idk if ur still doing that shot game but cléo bestie… do it with the housewives 🤭
ASK GAME !
“zero shots for xav and moniq.” cléo shrugs after her immediate response, a pleased grin plastered on her lips. “what? i would hit that, both of them. i would. stone cold sober.”
“one to two shots with xio and lani. mostly because i love them dearly. they’re very kiss happy when drunk so i don’t even think i’d need to be wasted.” cléo laughs, “they’re very affectionate with or without it.”
“malakai would be an in between those two groups. geminis kind of make me wary. one second he’s chill and the next you see him headlining tmz. i’d need to be at least tipsy.” she nods as if to confirm her statement.
“as for dante…” cléo hisses lowly, hands clasped together in serious thought. “i’d need to be absolutely plastered. either that or i wouldn’t hit that at all. the guy already nearly gave the fans a heart attack! he’s a menace,” she complains, but ends up laughing anyway. “i don’t even think i ever fully recovered from that ‘dating scandal’. just a reminder to never let that guy ‘okay bet!’ his ass into featuring me on his fucking instagram.”
her hands get thrown up in exasperation, “‘cause i didn’t even realize he made that post until christopher showed me. and you know chris is everywhere. i didn’t even know he knew dante. i was this close to jumping his ass.” cléo scowls with faux heat. “he’s lucky i didn’t get to him first.”

The Death of Stalin Sentence Starters
@bornofbloodandwater said:  “I’ve had nightmares that made more sense than this.”
Tumblr media
“Sweetheart, I’ve had wet dreams that have made more sense than this, but the only way into the base is by submarine and I’m the only one here with a pilot’s licence.”
Pilot for a helicopter, not a submarine, sure, but the two work in roughly the same way, don’t they? Trevor suspects so anyway and that, to him, is enough. His licence is expired too, but hey, this whole job isn’t exactly by the books, is it? Stealing a sub shouldn’t be too difficult - he’s stolen bigger.
“You listen to that husky sack of shit Michael and it’ll take you fuckin’ days to get in and out, this way is faster and you get to spend the afternoon in the company of a man just as God Damn beautiful as you, maybe ever more so.”

Tomorrow I have to take the TOEFL exam. I was going to use it for certain purposes that I’m not gonna be able to apply for this year because of reasons, and yet I remembered that I’ll probably need it for next year purposes... and so here I am, at 10 pm, checking for info about the test to see how the fuck it works because I’m a damn procrastinator :x and I have to wake up at like 7:30 am tomorrow.
Like, I know that even if I don’t look for information about it I’m not gonna get an awful score, but I should at least try to get a more than decent score, just in case?
I’m feeling super lazy about having to spend around 4 hours taking an English exam but whatever, I already paid for it and it can be useful in the future.
But yeah, I should have checked for it earlier and not the night before xD for fucks sake. There are things that never change, huh? I’ve been like this since I have memory. Everything is done the day before, hours before, minutes or seconds before *facepalms self*

I’m not sure how it went for “not suspicious,” but here’s what we know: 1) Anti can “puppet” up to three people at once, 2) The other people he controlled besides JJ are still within easy access of Anti, 3) Anti was not connected to the building itself and has free range of motion, however being near a source of electricity helps, and 4) There’s a fridge in there that they couldn’t bring because it was too big.
Jackie inhales sharply, sucking the air through his teeth. "Huh. Okay, okay. Pros and cons there. If he can only control three people at a time, we could probably win in a fight due to numbers. Too bad for Jackson and all the others though. He's not stuck in the building, so we might be able to use it. But if he can go anywhere, especially with electricity, then he could show up at any minute."
"Is the bit about the fridge really important?" Chase asks, frowning.
"Yeah, it means we can keep cold food, that's great."
Meanwhile, Xio has finished her explanation for Hiram and Nikolla. They still look a bit unnerved, but not nearly as much as Chase or any of the others were upon first hearing the voices. Apparently they've seen enough that it's not too weird, and no doubt the other escapees are the same way. "Well, we will be going now," Nikolla says softly. "If you need anything, come find us."
"Of course, I'll keep an ear out for you," Xio jokes.
Hiram chuckles, Nikolla smiles, and then they both turn and leave down the hall. Xio sighs, a small grin on her face. Then she looks back at Jackie and Chase, becoming more serious. "So what I'm hearing is this Anti guy is bad news all around."
Chase and Jackie nod. "We're not sure what his deal is," Chase says. "He wants the sort of information Psyode has. I think he was drawn here by the experiments, too."

Rwby 1920's party au (aka the idea I can up with last night that I'm inserting into several of my series.)
This is an outline of ideas for an idea I had last night about our Rwby characters and some ocs of mine in a 1920's party having their own adventures in love, life, and food all in this one night. A few notes: a. I normally shove Oscar into my Cloqwork ship, but not in this au, so he will not be related to Maylea, Garnet, Oz, or Qrow in ANYWAY in this au. Other than platonic. B. Don't expect me to be good at writing anything, especially this. C. Lot of ships, some of which people don't like. If you don't like it, please skip. D. This isn't really meant to delve into serious topics. This all meant to be a fun anthology thing. If I do end up putting in a serious topic, there will always be a warning.
Now, onto the character notes!
Ruby Rose - Age: 15. From a middle class family. Reluctantly crashing the Schnee's big winter ball with her sister and her girlfriend.
Yang Xio Long - Age: 17. Ruby's half sister. Party animal. Crashing the Schnee's party to see her girlfriend.
Blake Belladonna -Age: 17. Yang's not-so-secret girlfriend. Invited because she is friends with Weiss and Weiss insisted to have at least one of her closest friends there. (They wouldn't let her invite all of her other friends hence why the majority snuck in.)
Weiss Schnee - Age: 17. The middle child of the Schnee family. Singer for a majority of the night. Waiting for a fun night with her friends and her love interest.
Pyrrha Nikos - Age: 17. Daughter of the famous socialite Nikos Family.
Lie Ren and Nora Valkyrie - Age: 17. Very close couple. Nora's in Pyrrha's dance class. They snuck in at Nora's insistence.
Jaune Arc - Age: 17. The awkward kid who is trying to be a good business man like his father. Like Pyrrha.
Oscar Pine - Polendina - Age: 15. Adopted son of Pietro Polendina of Polendina electronics.
Sun Wukong - Age: 17. Weiss' love interest. Snuck in with his friend Neptune.
Garnet Merlot - Age: 15. Foster child of Ozpin. Got dragged along by her sister Maylea.
Aurora Hemlock - Age: 15. A waiter working at the Schnee Manor to earn some extra cash along with her friends.
Qrow Branwen - Age: 40 something (I don't remember their ages) Ruby and Yang's uncle. A teacher at Beacon.
Ozpin - age: 40 something. Headmaster at Beacon. Qrow's crush. Only came because Glynda said it would be a good idea for the school's funding.
Hopefully, this will be an interesting series to those who actually like my shit. These are the following ships to be involved so you can actively seek or avoid the posts I make on this au:
-Rosegarden
-Sunflakes
-Bumblebee
-Ozqrow/Cloqwork
-JNPR berries (poly jnpr)
-Pinning Poly Team HELL + Garnet
More characters will appear, maybe if you want to request something in this verse you can. I will always specifically tag these posts. Most likely I'll tag it as #Rwby1920s unless someone else has tagged it as such.
Hope this was interesting.

The Swordswoman of Darkness
Trigger: Deban discusses Trigger and GUTS-Select, Ginga, Victory and UPG, X and Xio, Taiga and EGIS and Z and STORAGE.
Galaxy Rescue Force: Ribut has been using the combat trainer, fighting simulations of numerous kaiju. Queen Izana explains that they have data on kaiju from other universes, but at this point for both the Galaxy Rescue Force and the Land of Light dimensional travel is very energy intensive. The possibility of encountering yourself, like in the Darklops Zero special, is mentioned, but that most universes diverge much longer ago. Queen Izana tells Ribut to train more.
Saber: Sophia, wielding Kurayami, joins the Swordsmen, becoming Caliber to help cut a path through Storious' army. Storious is watching this via Grimoire, which then makes Legeiel and Zooous appear to him. With Caliber and Saikou holding the army, the Swordsmen encounter the first Lord of Wise, which Kenzan and Slash battle. Zooous and Legeiel beg Storious to explain how they all became monsters, Storious explains that they lost themselves to power, while he is how he always was, he closes the vision and tells Luna, appearing there, that he knows how the world will end just as she does. Sophia, struggling, is supported by Hayato and Kamijo's spirits. Mei is at Fantastic Bookstore Kamiyama, apprehensive, when she finds the manuscript for Eternal Story. Blades and Buster challenge the next Lord of Wise. Storious claims that everything in the world comes from the book, nothing was truly born of human ingenuity, so he wants the end at least to be of his devising. Durandal and Sabela challenge the next Lord of Wise as Storious explains he intends the final chapter to be 'A Saviour's End', as each Lordcp of Wise overpowers their opponent, the final one battles Espada and Saber. Luna claims Touma can create stories outside of her power, but Storious forces her away. Saikou and Caliber destroy the army, but Sophia is fading fast and sends Yuri ahead. Kenzan and Slash throw everything at their foe, Kenzan using Desast's book on Kyomu to deliver a bridal finisher, burning out the last of the book, Daishinji sends Ren ahead, not revealing how injured he really is. Saber and Espada are overpowered by their opponent, Luna is in pain, and Mei reads the manuscript. Blades Tategami Hyoujuu Senki and Buster attack, as Ren runs by Ogami sends Rintaro after, swearing not to die before Sora graduates. The Shindais swear to protect eachother. Mei is brought to tears by the realisation of how the world will be saved. Ren reaches Touma and Kento, telling Touma to go ahead as Kenzan and Espada fight together. Mei suddenly has Wonder Story glow again and finds the passed out Luna, as those still fighting struggle, Blades rushes, Yuri stumbles towards the injured Daishinji, as Touma rushes toward his opponent.
Zenkaiger: Tougyuu World turns people into fighting bulls, which target colours of his choosing. Stacey is watching the battle, and reflecting on agreeing with Ijirude he needs to beat Barashitara, but he seems conflicted. Kaito tries to call Zenkaiju Gear but it doesn't show, Gaon fears he scared it away from home. Zyuran accuses Gaon of mistreating Zenkaiju Gear because it's a machine, and the team splits up. Kaito returns to Colourful to find Stacey, while Zyuran runs into the Goldtsuikars, the boys go looking for Tougyuu World while Flint tells Zyuran that Zenkaiju Fear doesn't have a sophisticated enough AI to be upset by Gaon, leading Zyuran to wonder if he went too far. Meanwhile, Gaon sees some kids play and when a Kikainoid trips and he doesn't immediately run over to check on him, realises that Zyuran is right. Secchan is staring Stacey down when Yatsude appears, he asks about Secchan and she tells him about Isao and Mitsuko, Kaito sits outside. When Tougyuu World appears, Vroon and Magine are first on the scene, Kaito rushes off, Stacey tells Yatsude it might be his last time there, she gives him a voucher and tells him to come anytime. Zyuran and Zox arrive at the battle, Tougyuu World turns the Kikainoids there into his bulls to target Zox. Twokaiser uses Gingaman, channeling Kuro Kishi's skill with bovine, but then is overpowered as is Zenkaiser trying to battle Tougyuu World. Determined not to let anyone get hurt, Gaon goads Tougyuu World, drawing the bull's attentions, allowing Zenkaiju Gear to be summoned this time, escaping the net it was caught in, and Zox and Kaito finish things. Gaon apologises for his behaviour, while pretty badly beaten, but Zyuran also apologise. Dai Tougyuu Workd waits for them to finish before arriving. Zenkaijuoh battles, but the heat makes it a struggle, and they form Zenkaiju Drill to properly stop them. Stacey arrives, declaring he will defeat Zenkaiser, becoming Stacaesar and summoning Battle Caesar Robo II, and starts overpowering Zenkaijuoh.

The Miys, Ch. 131
Two things about this chapter:
One: I am a sucker for these domestic chapters. I love showing people being people, and weaving world-building and plot development into those scenes.
Two: I am currently doing better from a work-exhaustion perspective, thank you everyone who was concerned!  I actually took the day off the day before I wrote this and just slept as much as I could that day, because the last day I worked, I was literally swaying on my feet if I stood still.
As always, thanks to @the-raven-fae, @baelpenrose, @anotherusrname, and @charlylimph-blog for keeping me going, along with every. Single. Person. Who has found this story somehow and just binged it as fast as you could. I love when my inbox gets detonated by someone new, please never stop!
Glimmering Feathers Podcast is currently doing The Miys from the very beginning! Please listen and support!
“Have the shelter locations for non-combatants been shortlisted?” I panted as Tyche and I sat on the floor of the gym after an intense cardio and sparring session.
She shook her head as she took a gulp of water. “Not that I know of, but Xio hasn’t really told me anything yet.”
“You would think we would be told pretty quick,” I complained. “After all, we’re supposed to be putting together the rosters of who goes where.”
“We put together the lists of combatants and non-combatants.” She stood and held out a hand to help pull me off the ground. “Our part is done for right now, and we’re pretty far ahead of schedule, honestly.”
“This isn’t exactly the kind of thing we want to leave to the last minute.”
Tyche groaned. “Right about now, I wish you were planning the Festival still. You get crabby when you’re stressed and don’t have anything to work on.”
I scowled and made pincer-like gestures with my hands.  She just laughed and shook her head before I asked, “Are you and Antoine coming over for dinner tonight?”
“Only if you let me shower first. We both stink.”
There was no way I could argue with that, especially as I went to put my glasses on and caught a whiff of myself. “Showers, then dinner at twenty-oneish?”  As we exited the gym, I paused to let my eyes adjust to the far-dimmer lighting. Chills ran down my back every time I recognized the similarity to the nightmares Else had given me while trying to communicate, and I always had to spend a few minutes forcing myself not to step over debris that wasn’t actually there.
“Can we do vegetarian tonight?”
“You have to talk Conor into it.”
A couple hours later, we were standing in my kitchen area.  Tyche was aggressively mashing chickpeas while staring down a nearly-flinching Conor.
I leaned over from where I was mincing herbs. “That isn’t what I meant and you know it,” I whispered.
“Don’t worry. I’m making him lamb, he just doesn’t know it,” she whispered back from the corner of her mouth.
To avoid smiling and giving it away, I called out instead. “Hey, Antoine, can you come start the tzatziki? You’re better at it than I am.”
“If you would give in to the existence of salt, Sophia, you would be a much happier woman,” he teased with a serious face.
“I use salt!” I objected.
“At the end,” my sister pointed out. “He salts the cucumbers before mixing everything together.” She glanced back at Conor before arching an eyebrow at him.
Distraction time. “Love, how are the plans for the housing fabrications coming?”
“Your mate Arthur apparently convinced Huynh - somehow, it’s not like they talk - that we don’t need fortifications,” he groaned. “I keep trying to explain that we aren’t putting up fortifications, it’s for agriculture.”
“Wait, what? What does that have to do with housing…?”
He tilted his head side to side as he considered. I could almost see him rewinding. “We have several different blueprints drafted for housing, dependent on what we learn when we drop into ‘real space’. Lots of them include plans for those espell-things to grow on the side, but Huynh is pushing back. It’s holding up the approvals.”
“What does Charly think?”
“Anything that helps us grow more plants with less impact on the environment is a win for her, so I’m trying to take the long view. He can decide whatever he wants now, but she’ll go with the plants every time.”
Antoine appeared next to me, wiping his hands. “How would your plan work if there is a cavern system, as suspected, rather than a surface settlement?”
He conceded the point. “Still working on a sustainable grow-light system for that one. But if it works, we would have year-round crops, so it would solve for the problem of storage in the winter.”
The door to our quarters opened just then, and a very tired-looking Maverick paused to take off his boots. “What would solve for the winter storage issue?” he asked.
“Sustainable grow-lights,” Tyche tossed over my shoulder from where she was hiding the lamb.
He made it as far as the table before dropping into a chair and leaning heavily on Conor, who wrinkled his nose. “Mav, you stink.”
“Turns out grav-mechs are greasy, even in space,” he mumbled, nuzzling into the other man’s shoulder instead of taking the hint. “I hate calibrating them.”
“No dirty hands at the table!” I reminded him. He didn’t move his head, just held up two meticulously scrubbed hands. “Fine…” I surrendered.
“Why are we talking about grow-lights?” he asked.
“Huynh is fighting with me ‘bout the housing solutions,” Conor explained, stroking his hair.
“Ah… the plants?”
“Yeah.”
“Can’t you just make the plants where they can grow with less light? I thought you were already working on that.”
“They turned black, tasted horrible, and we ended up with a sentient plague,” I pointed out. “No more dinking around with plant genomes please?”
Tyche turned around, hands on her hips. “We are already trying to manage a food festival and a potential invasion by space-pirates. No more plagues. Knowing her luck - “ she jerked a thumb in my direction “- this one won’t be the apologetic and cute kind.” Apparently the words that just came out of her mouth registered, because she rolled her eyes and threw her hands in the air before turning back to her top-secret dinner plan.
I finally finished turning the pale green paste into patties and shoved them in the oven, removing the griddle that had been warming in there. Hefting it onto the heating elements that served as a stove, I started putting together dough for pitas. “So, grow-lights. What kind of light do we need for them to work?”
“Blue, ideally,” Conor responded without even having to think. “Four-fortyish nanometers. Weirdly red light, six-fiftyish nanometers works, too.”
“So explain the issue, because I feel like I’m missing something. Charly designed lights in both those colors.”
“Wrong wavelengths,” he explained, scratching the back of his neck. “And it’s apparently really hard to finetune the wavelengths of organic lighting. She’s managed to get it right, but only for about twenty four hours before it shifts too far one way or another.  We don’t want to depend on completely inorganic light, if Von is as metal-poor as we think it will be.”
“Can’t replace them,” I half-asked. He winked and shot me a finger-gun to confirm my suspicion. “Yeah, that’s a huge problem.”
“The star emits just the right kind of light, barely, so if we stick with surface settlement, we should be okay.”
“And that’s where the storage issue came up,” Maverick mumbled sleepily, bringing us back to the original question he asked.
Conor jostled him gently, and I heard something about a shower to wake up before Maverick padded off in the direction of the bathroom.  Right at the same time, Tyche reached around me to flip a pita before blowing her fingers and cursing softly.  Apparently, her secret was done, so I handed her the spatula and started rolling out more dough.
By the time Maverick came back with wet hair and a too-big shirt that had to be Conor’s, most of the food was on the table and we were ready to eat.  Conor started grumbling about no meat and how could us weirdos eat a meal with no meat when he was interrupted by Tyche clearing her throat. His head snapped up and his jaw dropped.
“You! You are the sneakiest, most beautiful sister in law I could ever ask for,” he extolled dramatically as he saw the platter of lamb skewers in her hands.
She moved the platter out of his prodigious reach as she approached the table. “There’s a catch. You have to at least try the falafel. By itself, no lamb. Then you can have the meat.”
Maverick, more awake now and with half a sandwich already in his mouth nodded. After chewing and swallowing, he nodded again. “It’s really good, I swear.”
I pretended not to notice that he grabbed a skewer off the stack.  Then again, Maverick also wasn’t a grown man who still had to be bribed to eat vegetables. Usually, he had to be bribed to eat meat actually.
Conor, on the other hand, took the falafel pita that Tyche made for him and eyed it skeptically. “I feel like I need to point out that this isn’t a sandwich, this is what you put on a sandwich.” His hesitancy lasted about as long as it took for Antoine to stand and pick up the platter before he took a huge bite out of fear that the lamb would be taken away. He chewed frantically until Antoine put the platter back down, before he actually registered the taste.
I wanted to laugh at the confusion that flooded his face as he stared down at the sandwich in his hand. Finally, he swallowed, but the confusion didn’t stop.
“That’s…. Actually not bad. I thought vegetarian food was supposed to be bad?” He flinched when dual glares were thrown his way by me and my sister. “I didn’t mean it like that! I just meant - you know what, I’m going to shut up and eat before you two ladies decide I’m for dinner tomorrow night.”
“Very wise course of action,” Antoine confirmed solemnly as he carefully spooned tzatziki on his own, onion-loaded sandwich.
Still shaking my head, I started making my own food when I realized something. “I thought we made a lot more falafel than this?”
Tyche smirked but didn’t say anything. Neither did Antoine, focused on his own meal. Maverick however, was suspiciously quiet. I glanced over at him, only to see him staring really hard at his plate, which now had three empty skewers on it.  As my mind caught up, I actually found the sight kind of adorable.
I must have stared too long though, because Maverick muttered pathetically. “I was hungrier than I thought.”
Kissing the top of his head, I put another pita on his plate. “Baby, we made more than enough. Eat all you want. I just don’t want you to choke, that’s all.”
A long-fingered hand with slightly ginger hair on the back put a skewer on his plate. “Love, we can’t eat all this, you’re fine.”
“I always make enough food for ten people when you two are eating,” Tyche confirmed, not even looking up. “Teenage nephews in the Before. Lots of practice.”
He slowly looked up at us, and realizing that no one was angry, just surprised, he looked less afraid and sat up straight. Conor patted the top of his hand before deploying one of his weaponized, thousand-watt smiles. “C’mon, I’ll show you to make one with the lamb. You’re gonna need a lot of onions for this…”
I groaned, setting off a round of laughter. I wasn’t against onions on a sandwich, but they didn’t have to sleep between two men with onion breath.
