so i’ve had that phoenix elixir au kicking around in my head for ages now and my boys mattering in comics again is the perfect reason to break it out
1. its an age swap au. the academy x students were the first x-men, the o5 are (eventually) the latest class.
2. jean is still more or less the destined host of the phoenix. it just makes a pit stop in possessing josh.
it doesn’t end well
3. this is what turns josh’s skin gold and temporarily unlocks his full potential as a mutant. he loses it when it leaves him and dedicates himself to learning everything so he can conquer death for mutantkind.
4. the mission they’re on is really vague, but josh is trying to get to survivors of the phoenix’s disaster. david’s trying to get him to turn back because its practically suicide. he’s healing himself to counter the heat and radiation.

I oh so want a reunion for the wolverine school kids.
Also I can just imagine Quentin mind reading Trevor and seeing the absolute bs. that he’s been pulling while in the X-Factor team.

I listened to the latest Leah Williams interview over at the Battle of the Atom podcast and the way she was treated by editorial, by Marvel, is horrific. Not only did they cancel the series and forced her to wrap up in one issue and a half so that she could 'focus solely on Trial of Magneto', they also rewrote whole dialogues and didn't let her see the final product before it was in print. I kept silent throughout the final issue's controversy because it's not my place to speak, I'm not poc, and I cannot imagine the horror of seeing what was on the page (it was upsetting enough for me and I'm white). There was a lot of anger, and many attacked Leah Williams' writing, but this podcast now puts the blame solely and squarely on editorial. I believe her when she says that she did not greenlit that horrific shot of David's body, I believe her when she says that she was uncomfortable with what editorial was doing. Be angry and loud but don't blame the creator, blame Marvel. But don't just take my word for it, I mean, I urge you to listen to the podcast and see for yourself. That's the voice of a woman who can't even tell what happened exactly because she was silenced.
