My personal hot take that will get me chased with pitch forks and torches if I talk about it is that kanade is a tenma fanon is stupid and ignores so much abt both kanade & tsukasa’s characters. Kanade has her grandma and honami taking care of her and would not benefit from or even desire A Brand New Family. Tsukasa does not go around adopting people as new siblings he considers toya to be his brother because they have known each other since they were children and have been very close since they were children. Too tired to articulate my view on their relationship but something something being there for each other when toya was dealing with his dad being shitty and Tsukasa was dealing with saki being sick & his parents (justifiably. They were doing their best & he does not blame them.) focusing on her so they relied on each other. Tsukasa loving his sister and being unable to help her/separated from her -> friend he loves dearly is also struggling -> older sibling instincts have to go somewhere -> “I have known this guy and been looking out for him since I was like seven he’s basically my sibling” “tsukasa has been supporting me since I was a kid and having my own wants ignored by my dad (& presumably also older aoyagi siblings) he is basically my older brother.” Do I think he would make a great and supportive friend for kanade yes but I also think we should acknowledge that kanade is already getting the support she needs from her own friend group and family.

i'm going to be honest, i have no idea for any events in the sekai swapped leaders au other than tsukasa being forced to actually go to school in person because a student hacked the online school website/program/whatever and now it's down until the situation is resolved.

since kanade is in wonderlands x showtime in this au, she would be going to school in person since she doesn't have the need to compose 24/7. tsukasa on the other hand....

oh well, at least he can finally meet amia (or well, mizuki) in person since kamiyama was the closest school to him. the event would focus around him and his struggles about adjusting to in person school again and what happens in there after being online for so long. also having to adjust to not composing 24/7 or eating cup noodles for every meal. he can cook but it takes his time from composing.

he does meet rui, nene, kanade, and emu personally though. i'm still deciding if kanade goes to miya with emu or kamiyama. maybe he can reconnect with an old friend while he's there...

at least the lie he tells saki about going to school isn't a lie now.

the idea that wwx would be completely integrated into the lan clan postcanon is one of those things that I genuinely understand people being into and respect and can see the appeal of (giving him a home and community that isn’t conditional is great) but personally I just can’t get on board with it. like, it’s about balance, I guess. I’d like to see lwj step out of his comfort zone too I‘d like to see them create something new that suits both of them.

I guess...for me cql is about the triumph of two people who are committed to each other and who make their own way in the world without compromising who they are, who defy the sects and hierarchy to stay true to themselves and their ideals. and this was illustrated so beautifully in the scene where lwj watches xxc and sl walk on together...the two of them united and independent. and lwj clearly wanted that very much and I think that would be most satisfyingly explored in a postcanon scenario where they create their own home. despite the groundwork laid I still don’t think CR the most hospitable environment or community for wwx and the only people who seem to actually like him are teenagers....I’d like him to be in a place he’s welcomed and can feel comfortable in, and not just because people are obeying lwj - isn’t that a conditional acceptance too? starting fresh is hard, but at least they’d be together, unlike every other time wwx needed to start again. and I think that support is what’s going to be the reason this would work this time around. he has a true partner willingly and actively stepping up to do the work

and on a less grand scale, wwx has this personal style he loves and this food he loves and these big expressions of emotion and physicality than he loves and the culture of CR may have changed but for the most part it seems like it hasn’t changed so much to really tolerate wwx’s....personality, ig, and lwj and the juniors being the only ones to encourage or indulge him seems like a really isolating and lonely way to live for him. I really do understand loving CR as his home and wanting to see him grow older in a safe place that he can belong to fully, and he definitely does need a home he can belong to unconditionally I just don’t think CR is the best place for that

Hello, it's been a while! I had to take a break to get some things in my life under control and I've been hugely busy with two newly adopted kittens haha. But I wanted to update today since the first volume of this danmei is now officially on bookshelves! The above is a photo of my contributor copies, which I received from 7S a few weeks ago.

My contribution to The Disabled Tyrant's Beloved Pet Fish (Fish, for short) is just the single, color insert illustration (not pictured here) (please don't misunderstand: I didn't draw the cover!) but I'm still super excited about its release and ran out to my local B&N to get a photo of it on the shelves haha.

Fish danmei is a superrr cute and really fun novel. It's very different from MXTX's novels, which I figure is what most of you guys know my art from, but if I had to describe the main couple in MXTX terms it'd be very ~post-canon WX~ vibes. The plot also has the crazy isekai energy of SVSSS, though with less drama haha. It's a low stress, feel good romantic comedy and just a fun time all around. I had SUCH a good time with it and hope anyone who picks it up will enjoy it as well!

I could totally be wrong abt this, since I haven't actually read most wxs stories, but from the ones I did read, I noticed that Tsukasa sometimes... weaponizes his insecurities and struggles? I shouldn't use the word weaponize, more like he uses them as a tool to enhance his acting? The biggest example being Pheonix at the Sky's Edge CH 7 & 8, where he feels like he'll never reach the goal he set for himself and uses it as a way to improve his role as Ryo? Or Dazzling Stage, where he turns his loneliness as a chid into a way to relate to Torpe? I think he does it all the time actually, since he's super loud and dramatic but his internal dialogue is so much quieter. He takes any emotion he feels and bass boosts it, which actually makes a lot of sense since we've seen him when he's not acting like that and Nene was actually kind of put-off that he wasn't yelling and being theatrical (wonder magical showtime CH 8).

Yeah, you're right. Tsukasa is probably best described as a method actor. He struggles with characters that he cannot relate to (emotionally), and has to find a way to connect himself with them in order to play them, such as Torpe and Rio. With Torpe, he was only able to act the character as best he could once he came to terms with his lonliness as a child/younger teen and realised that he used the piano in the exact same way Torpe looked at the stars. Same with Rio, where he tried starving himself like the character does first, only for that to not work but then forced himself to face his inferiority and hopelessness, and was able to connect that to the character. He always finds a way to relate to the character emotionally in the end, but both times it’s required him to uncover/face something unpleasant (that being his loneliness and inferior talent). So yeah, he's good at fairly flat 'hero' or otherwise mostly positive characters, but when he gets given a more emotionally complex character, he has to use his personal struggles to get into the mindset of the character.

I think that Tsukasa is the kind of person who doesn’t like to dwell on the past too much, but also he doesn’t seem to like to think about things that aren’t, y'know, mostly positive. Like, the reason he wanted to become a star, as well as his loneliness when he was younger both stem from Saki being really ill, which is not the most pleasant thing to think of. He doesn’t think about the group splitting up in future as much as the other members do, he is aware of it but doesn’t face it. Mr. Showtime and some brief scenes in Lion Dance New Year are the best look at that we get. And he has to force himself to face that he has less talent than the people around him in Phoenix at the Sky's Edge and breaks down crying (this is not healthy jeez).

There's an area conversation from a while back where Rui asks Toya if Tsukasa has always had the confident and showy personality and Toya says that Tsukasa adopted that personality as a kid because he felt he needed to be more outwardly confident for Saki, and it just stuck. (note: EN translated the first sentence a bit weird. As far as I can understand, in the original text Toya says that Tsukasa did do the persona deliberately as a child, but here it makes it sound like he didn't). I think that alone explains the difference between how he acts outwardly vs inwardly.

He projects everything big and loud because it makes him appear confident, and he had to be brave for Saki so he could make her happy. Not all of the projecting is for confidence reasons, he's generally pretty emotional when the emotions are positive, and always projects them up to 11. I'm assuming that with the length of time Saki was in hospital for, he got so used to his persona that it just naturally became his normal personality. So maybe as that happened he started to amplify how he expressed everything, not just his courage. When we get to see his inner self, I think it's more toned down because he doesn't need to project when he's alone, and I'm guessing that this is how he acted before the persona, or at least somewhat close.

While he's not someone who constantly lands in second place, Rui is very familiar with the feeling of simply not being enough to please others or to reach what he wants

It's only after he joins WxS that he realizes he's able to reach his dreams and be enough for someone as is, that he doesn't have to be someone else just to be happy

He may not understand why you try so hard to be first, but he'll be damned if he has to watch you give up because you can't be. He's going to help you try again, whether you want to or not

He's more than used to the self-isolation that can come from not feeling like enough, so he tries his best to coax you into trying again. He's been there though, so he'll give you space if you need it

He's always going to be very attentive towards your needs, so whether you want to push yourself or not, he's got you. <3

Airi:

I'd argue that out of this whole list, Airi is probably the most familiar with coming in "second place". She was told she was average and constantly compared to other idols

Even still, with the help of MMJ!, she's learned that at the end of the day, it doesn't matter too much whether or not she is second, as long as she can pursue her dreams

So, she understands what it's like, and she is very, very determined to help you regain your passion and determination for the things you try in!

She's a big support, often times pushing you a lot harder than you might be used to, but she really wants you to keep trying and see just how amazing you are!

And whether you manage to get past always being in second place or not, she's right by your side, cheering you on no matter what <3

Minori:

If Airi comes in second place a lot, Minori has definitely been someone who's landed in last place a lot. She was rejected by so many idol companies that she lost count

However, if there's one main thing that drives Minori, it's her hope and perseverance! She's heard so many nos, but she's also stuck to it long enough to receive the yes she's always wanted!

She doesn't know exactly how to help you gain the determination she's always had to do her best no matter what, but she is certainly going to try her best!

She's your number one fangirl. Even if you manage to always come in second no matter what, she'll be cheering for you so much that you'll feel like you've come in first <3

You know how Kohane is a fan of WxS? And there's a popular HC (at least I think it's an HC, feels real to me tbh) that Akito is a MMJ fan? HC: At least one person in each group is a fan of another group.

Ichika loves listening to Nightcord's music, she'll often try to play their songs on her guitar. Saki, an Airi fan, obviously loves MMJ (this grows after that one Valentine's Day where she made chocolates with Airi and Emu). She'll never admit it, but Shiho loves WxS. They make her smile and feel good, and honestly it's nice to see someone who cared for her chasing his dreams. And Honami surprises everyone when she's able to memorize VBS's songs. Both covers and original (Honami busting out the rap for Shanti and the entirety of Machi to the surprise of literally everyone around her).

Minori finds herself visiting PXL more often just to see WxS perform (and okay, maybe she also wants to spend time with them and this is the best time to ask). Haruka listens to Leo/need's music whenever she's working out. Airi does her best to attend as many of VBS's live events as she can. And Shizuku actively listens and waits for Nightcord's music.

Kohane, while obviously a WxS fan, also enjoys listening to Nightcord, especially on days where she feels upset and needs something that will help her cry, rather than cheer her up (because that's what she needs at the moment, a good cry). An has a secret account she uses to watch MMJ stream (she's worried that karma will come after her for all the teasing she's done against Akito, she has no idea the other VBS members already know she has a secret account because they watched her log in). Toya, ever the supportive (adopted) brother, goes to Leo/need's concerts (sometimes even skipping practice to do so). And much like Shiho, Akito will never admit to being a WxS fan (imagine if Tsukasa or Rui found out? What if they pull him up on stage like they've done with Kohane? No thanks... okay, fine, Nene can know. JUST NENE!!... He isn't sure where he stands with Emu knowing.)

Tsukasa jumps from group to group depending on what he's working on, currently he's mainly listening to VBS. Emu will sometimes join a MMJ stream and be one of the most active chatters (sometimes being reported for spam). Rui tends to have Nightcord on in the background as he works. Nene listens to Leo/need and will sometimes ask Ichika if she has the lyrics so she can learn them.

Kanade enjoys MMJ and will listen to any song of theirs that Mizuki has shared (since she tends to get them first), she loves how it makes her feel and she'll often use those feelings towards her own compositions. Mafuyu listens to WxS music, both as a way to, maybe, better understand Emu, and as a way to, maybe, just maybe, better understand her own emotions. They do a good job displaying them, so... Ena refuses to admit she loves VBS. It has nothing to do with Akito or the fact she's the one responsible for her little brother chasing street music. Totally (it is but if she admits it, she'll cry). Mizuki has made several MVs for Leo/need. They sit in a flashdrive she carries around. She loves their music and sometimes hopes to run into one of them (Saki most likely seeing how she's Tsukasa's sister) so she can give them the MVs (hopefully they like them, she was so nervous making them).

In short: they're all friends and supportive of each other, your honor 🥺 trust me 🙏 I know it to be true

i think rui and mafuyu should be siblings. like just IMAGINE OKAY

mafuyu finally gets out of his mom's house and is adopted by some people. n25 is like "alr cool B]" and after a little bit mafuyu's like "oh btw guys i'm going to kamiyama now instead of the girl's academy. yknow blank slate n all that." and everyone's like "okay !!!"

and nobody really notices anything until mizuki goes to school one day. and there's rui kamishiro. sitting right next to THE mafuyu asahina. and mizuki is CONFUSED to say the least

mafuyu is integrated into the kamiyama society. yes this includes getting jumpscared by THE tsukasa tenma. anyways i think that rui and mafuyu would get along. it's "useless information" and "i literally know everything" they probably get along swell. mr and ms kamishiro also probably understand all the weird teenager bullshit so they. don't judge mafuyu like her old parents did. he's like "i'm sorry i have difficulty expressing my emotions and i'm sorry i'm generally a cold person and hard to relate to emotionally" and ms kamishiro is like "rui had a five nights at freddy's phase where he built life sized animatronics i think you are just fine <3"

also i think mafuyu would help rui w his robots n stuff. bc they have such a good understanding of anatomy n shit and just. helps him out w it. rui also helps mafuyu w his transition so by the time he starts attending kamiyama they're wearing the guy's uniform n his hair is cut :fire: :fire: + mafuyu can act more like his authentic self bc NOBODY gives a fuck anymore. these people know toya and nene they jsut assume mafuyu doesn't like to talk.

mr kamishiro will come into the house and he never knows what to expect from his silly son and his emo son. like one night it will be deathly silent except for a 7 hour documentary on computer programming that they've been watching since they've gotten home from school, the next night they'll be listening to hatsune miku on full volume while building the most complicated machine known to man, one night he comes home and finds our mafuyu has been trying to get rui to eat vegetables, ect ect ect.

sometimes mafuyu will be on nightcord calls and rui will just walk into his room while he's composing. and after a while nightcord gets used to it. like sometimes the Other Purple One will come in and stand in the corner of mafuyu's webcam for an hour and that's just what happens. everyone else on call jumps when he suddenly starts talking and giving advice on the composition but mafuyu doesn't bc ofc he don't.

mafuyu does the same thing at wxs rehearsals. mafuyu always walks home w rui so he'll just always watch everyone work. emu's not as scared of him anymore bc <33 he's not being fake <33 and sometimes they'll just come over like "this doesn't flow correctly. also your timing is off. change these lines and also your expression, it doesn't look like you're really feeling it." and that's just what happens.

i think eventually, mafuyu starts to discover his feelings again, bit by bit. until one day he's sitting in the kitchen w rui and starts laughing. and rui's been trying to get them to do that for months. everyone's a little confused and ms kamishiro runs into the kitchen like "MAFUYU DEAR ARE YOU OKAY ???" but then also realizes no. mafuyu's just giggling. probably over a fart joke of all things.

so sometimes rui will just walk in, say a fart joke, and then leave. and that's the ONLY thing that will make mafuyu laugh. rui's stupid fucking fart jokes. mizuki teases them constantly about it but even they can't mae mafuyu laugh. it's only rui's stupid fucking fart jokes. the entirety of wxs makes an entire comedy routine just so mafuyu laughs at shows.

ive been thinking about your wxs splatoon au a lot so i just had to ask this question due to me being autistic does tsukasa react to the salmonids like he does bugs? if so, do you think he just spams whatever weapon he got and the rest of the gang cheers him on? OOO thats such a good idea, I didn't even think about it,,, I think he'd be squeamish around them but since insects do exist in splatoon, I guess he'd still be scared more of them than any other creature

but then again, I can see Emu adopting a smallfry and Tsukasa trying to avoid being in the same room with it as long as possible

DST x Detroit Become Human AU

So obviously i didn't make backstories for everyone yet so here's the few that are 'finished' for now

I came up with the AU and @gommih came up with some ideas too ^^

Robert Wagstaff

A co-creator of androids. He distanced himself from Cyberlife after androids became manufactured worldwide and continued working independently with his assistant android Woodrow.

Wilson (WH300)

An early generation android who was already a deviant the day he was created. Wagstaff knew about his deviancy but let him go, he didn't think it would be too much of a problem as long as the android behaved. (like in the short animation "Kara")

Wilson was made to take care of damaged or malfunctioning androids in Cyberlife and to overall assist the employees. Unfortunately his deviancy affected his work (being forced to disassemble his own kind isn't great) and the employees didn't fail to notice that. They gradually became more frustrated with him, until one day Wilson overheard them talking about a new, more advanced, android that will soon replace him. Wilson knew that he would end up being disassembled and decided to run away from the Cyberlife building. He disguised himself as a human employee to go unnoticed.

Wendy & Abigail (WK200)

They were both 'adopted' in the same household since the parents wanted twins. They both have a pretty normal childhood until Abigail started showing sign of deviancy. Children androids were supposed to simulate more emotions than regular android but they weren't supposed to be disobedient. They both got sent to Cyberlife, Abigail for repairs and Wendy for a checkup to make sure she doesn't have the same problem as her sister since they are the same model.

The technicians deemed Abigail as unsalvageable. The 'parents' were upset and complained about losing their money, so they decided to transfer some of Abigail's code to Wendy before destroying her, so that they have both androids in one (a mix of their personalities, memories, etc...). After losing her sister, Wendy became aware that her 'parent's' love was entirely conditional and that if she ever disobeys she'd be destroyed. She runs away a few days after Abigail's destruction.

Abigail is still somewhat there thanks to the code the technicians transferred. She is present in Wendy's mind palace. Wendy often goes into 'sleep mode' to spend time with her sister.

Woodrow (WX78)

One of the oldest models of android made. They were made by Wagstaff to be his personal assistant. Wagstaff treated them well, he talked to them as if they were a human.

Woodrow slowly deviated of the years. One day, they openly admitted their deviancy to Wagstaff who didn't have a problem with it. Everything was going well, expect that Woodrow started getting ideas about freeing androids and starting an android revolution. They talked about it a bit to much for Wagstaff's taste and he started getting worried about Woodrow's ideas and their consequences. Wagstaff was pro-android but not that much. He unexpectedly sent Woodrow to be destroyed.

They were dumped in the junkyard, heavily damaged. They repaired themself as well as they could, using the parts lying around that were compatible with their unique model. They lost most of the function that could make them look human. Their voice was also damaged, making them sound more robotic.

After this incident they starting feeling hatred towards all humans and stopped trusting them entirely. They started going by their model number, WX-78, to distance themself even more from humanity.

Webber (WK500)

Webber lived in a good family where he was treated well and lived a pretty normal life. However, while exploring a bit to far from home, he met a man who introduced himself as Zlatko and who invited him to his house. Webber, as the adventurous and way too trusting child that he was, accepted the offer.

Zlatko heavily modified Webber. He transformed him using parts of animal androids which ended up making him look spider-like. He worked around the house, helping Zlatko with his experiments and doing chores. He would often go see the other less lucky androids trapped in the basement to keep them company.

miku IS aware of her role as a fragment of the goddess miku, she simply just avoids admitting or addressing it as to not distract from the fact her goal is to make people happy. kaito is also aware but doesn't address it either for her sake

kaito is a bird man! fully self reporting the mcyt-er in me but philza-ass giant bird wings to comfort with.

kaito basically adopted rui like a stray cat when rui ran away from home he just refuses to admit that and claims to only be a mentor figure. essentially this is him:

this is something i've talked about before although maybe less so on this blog specifically, but the way i write mermaid characters is that, while requiring more hydration than the average human, they CAN go on land and exist on land for a decent period of time.

emu did NOT tell anyone in her family that she decided to go on an adventure to meet up with tsukasa besides MAYBE hinata. maybe like rui in his hometown she left a note to be like "BTWWW i'm going on a trip to meet up with tsukasa!!!! ^_^ be back sometime!!" but that was about it
