📊PLOTTERS REJOICE 📊 Pansters get happy too. Available June 1st on Amazon @mixedplatepress presents: The Indie Author Book Publishing Planner by @cl.walters Here's my review! You've got the idea now you just need a guide through the overgrown field that is Indie publishing.  Perhaps, like me, you need  sturdy structure to go along with the guidance.  If so, this book will be an essential part of your library.  The Book Publishing Planner not only breaks down the steps to publishing, it provides space to write out your corresponding information as you go along.  If you're like me and are a planner devotee, you'll enjoy the open space to add your own flare of creativity.  #plotter #panster #indieauthors #publishingguide #authorlife #writerscommunity #WritingCommunity #writersofig #writerslife #writingcraft #writingcraftbooks #theartofpublishing #writersofinstagram (at The Heart Of North Philly ! : )) https://www.instagram.com/p/CPZUUEfrYfR/?utm_medium=tumblr

Writing Craft Wednesday... . I have to admit that craft books scare me. Half the time when I read them I am pretty sure I’m going to find out that in some shape or form I’m doing this writing thing wrong. I picked up this book recently on a recommendation from a friend and it’s helping me to see my ideas more clearly. To think not only about my main character’s goal, but what motivates them. What secrets they are hiding that push them to make bad choices. How those choices will affect their future. It most likely won’t change my first drafts (which are always messy-as they should be) but I think it will help me have a clearer picture of what motivates my character. How I can use their mistakes to make them even more compelling on the page! . Do you have a favorite writing craft book you like? . . . #writingabook #writinganovel #writerlife #writingmotivation #messyfirstdrafts #plotter #pantser #yawriter #yahistoricalwriter #yawriterlife #writingcraft #writingcraftbooks #yawritingcommunity #writergram https://www.instagram.com/p/CLIq1_AgRWx/?igshid=154dpk73aeyei

#BookReview 10 Steps To Hero @sacha_black #TuesdayBookBlog #AmWriting
This book How to Craft a Kickass Protagonist – 10 Steps To Hero has become a permanent feature in my writer’s handbag and it has really helped me on my journey to publication. If only the author, Sacha Black, knew how bendy I’ve made the book spine (from excessive use), how many pages are now dog eared and how many pages are adorned with messy fingerprint marks.
I have read Sacha’s 13 Steps…

Ah yes, the universal writing question: Plotter or Pantser? . I am that weird sort that falls between the two - aka a Plantser. I do my best to fully outline a story, but then sometimes my characters take over and go off the rails. This happens frequently with my minor characters. I often have them in just a few scenes, but then their voice(s) comes to me so clearly that they usually get more time on the page. For instance, Sean and Michael in Across a Broken Shore were supposed to only show up a few times. But each time they appeared, they had so much more to add to the story, and Willa’s life, that I had to give them more face time. . What about you? Plotter? Pantser? Or Plantser? Also, do you use a craft method to create an outline if you’re a plotter? Would love to hear in the comments! . . . #asummerinwriting #plotter #pantser #plantser #bookoutline #writingcraft #writingtip #storycraft #writingcraftbooks #writercommunity #writers_den_ #writersden #writersclub #writelife #authorsonig #authorsoninstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/CC6K6p0gzgQ/?igshid=buqdzjng1d0l

Writing Friends Challenge Day 8: Writing Tool If you’ve been writing long enough, you know getting the emotional beats of a story down is one of the most difficult things to tackle. One of the most challenging parts of conveying emotion in my characters is overusing the same actions. Clenching the jaw for anger. Shifting in seat to reflect anxiety/worry. A stifled giggle when the character is uncomfortable. After a while all of these emotional reactions can feel played out. It’s then that I turn to my favorite writing tool: The Emotion Thesaurus. It’s a great resource when you are looking for the best way to show your characters’ feelings without actually telling them on the page. This book has saved me more times than I can count! Highly recommend you add to your writing craft collection if you don’t already own! #writingfriendschallenge #writerlife #yawriterlife #writingcommunity #yawritingcommunity #writingtips #writingtools #writingcraft #writingcraftbooks #conveyingemotion #emotionthesaurus #amwriting #iwriteya #writingadvice #storyteller #storytelling #kidlit #youngadultbooks #yabookstagram #yabooksta https://www.instagram.com/p/CP3WlN8rJAV/?utm_medium=tumblr
