Hay que tener valor
para tomar un papel y vaciarse,
mostrarse vulnerable, transparentarse.
cómo nos susurra el alma;
a veces nos quedamos a vivir en un poema,
y luego, la vida nos echa a empujones.
Lloramos con lágrimas de dulce o de sal,
sangramos en rojo o azul,
derrotamos dragones
y nos vence una caricia;
las despedidas nos hacen añicos,
las esperanzas...
valientes….
Y el que tú te veas reflejado en unas líneas,
hace valer la pena de haberlas escrito
tal vez, con el corazón hecho pedazos.
Nacimos con esa pasión por escribir
Gracias por leerme…

Let's talk characters' eye color...
I've noticed that Takahashi-sensei has not been consistent with the characters' eye color. So this let me to wonder, which ones are actually canon in the end?
The anime had its own version of it, but i don't consider that canon. So, I will limit myself to the original art from Takahashi-sensei himself.
Yugi/Atem Their purple/reddish eyes are mostly consistent; sometimes, depending on the light, they appear brownish. Ther's an instance where they have light blue eyes too (apparently Takahashi-sensei must have loved blue eyes, because the majority of his characters at some point have been colored with blue eyes at least once).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jounouchi His eyes are usually golden/light brown, but sometimes you can find him with blue eyes too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Seto Kaiba Seto is usually always colored with light blue eyes. Sometimes his eyes are darker. Once I found him with green eyes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anzu She is one of the most inconsistent characters. I think the dm anime giving her blue eyes didn't help. I'm inclined to believe that Takahashi-sensei originally gave her dark brown eyes (which is also the color she has in the first anime series), giving the color of early art and, only after the beginning of the anime, he started using also blue. I like her with brown eyes a lot.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mokuba He too has seen some inconsistency. From brown to deep blue his eyes have changed a lot. I believe originally he wasn't supposed to have dark blue eyes. In my canon he has deep grey eyes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bakura/Dark Bakura I was surprised to discover that Bakura actually has blue eyes and only a couple of times he is depicted with goldish/light brown eyes. Dark Bakura has also blue eyes or red eyes. I love his blue eyes, which also fit with my canon that Ryou is actually half-european.

Ending with one of my favourite art. This is the reference i use for my canon charcaters' eye color.

[Lucid Dreamers: 1]
Summary: Atem wakes up in the ruins of Alcatraz with no memory of how he got there.
Meanwhile, Kaiba's coffee meeting with Pegasus takes a turn for the worse.
Word Count: 3k | Rating: M | Ship: prideshipping | Ongoing
“You were always full of bullshit,” Seto growled. “Spouting your bullshit riddles like a little bunny late for a tea party. I’d like to get back to business now.” “This is the business, Kaiba-boy,” Pegasus said. “Tell me about your stepfather. Did you ever feel he loved you? When was that?” Seto stared at him, unspeaking. There had been a moment, before the glass broke, where a strange feeling emerged from the muddy, bloodied battlefield of the day–a question. Will he love me now? Because I won? And then, when the glass broke, and Seto saw that he was being set free, another question–is this love? Dying for me? Set free into another kind of cage. Guilt and hatred and grief. The indifferent fires of rage, consuming everything, anything that came too close. “He’s dead,” Seto said coolly. “That’s the end of the subject. Or should I start nagging you about your wife?”
A/N: new pet project <3 do you like surreal horror vibes... mystery boxes... or terrible groundhog day loops? perhaps this may entice you!have fun! comments, kudos, and reblogs welcome!

29.03.2024
There's nothing much decrease or increase in study sessions. I am just completing notes which i had postponed till i get a perfect idea and clarity of concept/topics. There's a lot of writing and i worry if I will even be able to learn all that what I'm writing. Every night my fingers gave out, from continuously writing. But over all its good.
Things I did:
Macroeconomics: notes writing
Song of the day: drunk text by Henry Moodie
Good luck to me for tmr

Not entirely certain yet, but I might be a little MIA this weekend. Some stuff that I can confirm in next week's updates, though: Extra Kiyohira POV in zenith of stars, biweekly addition for devour the sun (Ko-fi only), and a new chapter for o valkyrie, arise.
We're getting in range of another interlude chapter for zenith of stars, but ideally I would like to have the next interlude to take place before Shiki enters jujutsu high school (!!!). Depending on how the pacing of the next few chapters go, things may not work out according to plan, but I'll know for sure once we hit a certain upcoming event. Fingers crossed!

A tip for writing truly immersive environments and locations — building your very own Snapshot library.
Tumblr media
How it started:
In real life I like to think I'm an observant person who notices the tiniest things around me, but when I sit down to describe, I don't know a forest — 🤯 poof, I'm blank. Can't remember a thing about my own town even.
The events of my current novel are happening in August. Writing any kind of non-plot related narratives throughout the year was very difficult, especially describing nature, and I kept waiting for actual August to happen in my city so that I can write in the moment.
When August came, I was jotting down everything about this time of the month. The weather patterns, what was flying through the air, what the people around me were behaving like and so forth. I was even able to divide those into subcategories like 'conversations I overheard' or 'internal character monologues while going from point a to point b'.
I called it a Snapshot of August.
Tumblr media
So, how do I use these 'Snapshots'?
They're like a recipe cards for all kinds of situations — or at least the ones you've been. So you wrote a Snapshot about a coffee shop. You add more and more snippets every time you sit in a coffee shop. If my characters are in a coffee shop I pull up the appropriate Snapshot and start picking and choosing elements in order to build the environment. I'll take that description of couple these to highlight MC's low esteem, a pinch of cinnamon smell in the air, a dash of how square my butt felt against the uncomfortable wooden chairs...
Sure, I can just take a picture things then I'll have a stupor as to how to describe the picture later. Sure, I could try to write from memory and get two lines in, or you could be that mysterious individual at the corner of a bar peeking at people from under your glasses and scribbling away every curious individual you see every mannerism and the ways the light hits their beer glasses.
The difference is that I wrote those snapshots WHILE I was in those situations and locations, so I can describe in utmost detail the August frustration of constantly wiping my sprinkled windowsill from the winged seeds of catkins hanging from the branches of a silver birch outside my house.
I forget these things! Snapshots are both for little details and large, descriptive scenes where you can plug your character into.
This is especially crucial when you're in a unique place you can't easily access again, like when you're on vacation! And it's a powerful ally for never slowing down on things like narrative descriptions during a NaNoWriMo sprint.
I will update this post in the future with some snapshot examples.

Oh before I forget, I did learn something at sword class for the aspiring writers:
It is a completely valid tactic in a long sword fight if you are taller than the person you're fighting to just take their sword. No really you are allowed and encouraged to just grab it. The only thing you need to watch out for is the dagger most fighters have on them, because they can take advantage of you yanking the blade to shank you. Also footwork is more important than physical strength, the sword will equalize you and your opponent assuming you swing with your whole body and not just your arms.

"I've been thinking about something."
"Oh no. What trouble are you cooking up again?"
"Well I mean. Did you hear Celia repainted her husband's entire office room after he complained about the bad paint job?
"...and?"
"Theoretically, if I had a very bare room that needed to be refurbished..."
"Theoretically, if you let me swipe your credit card so we can hire her..."
"I always knew you were a golddigger, MC. You have greatly dishonored me today." Shakes head
"Thank you, thank you! It's what I do best."

Writing Notes for my Incarnate Fic
Manic Pixie Dream Girl:
Rapunzel der Sonne, Crown Princess of Corona - Human Host of the Sundrop, survived childhood kidnapping and 18 years of psychological, emotional, verbal, and physical abuse of varying degrees; escaped her captor/abuser with the help of her future husband, is committed and comfortable with using her celestial partner's magic for the betterment of her people as well as saving the world from horrific destruction at the hands of true evil; refuses to let the darkness of her past overcome the brightness of her heart and soul; must learn to accept that she is still a flawed human being who is susceptible to selfishness and boundary-stomping, but as long as she keeps choosing to grow and improve, she will prove herself to be a different and better person than Gothel
Depressed Goblin Nightmare Man:
Hector Ujin, Highest Ranking Knight of the Dark Kingdom - Human Host of the Moondrop, survived physical, emotional, and verbal abuse from both parents before being sold into sexual slavery at the age of 6, then escaped by a combination of dumb luck and sheer fucking will at age 9; was adopted into one of the most powerful families in the Dark Kingdom; too afraid/ashamed to embrace the powers of his celestial partner and the love of his big sister because he's been brainwashed into believing his inherent worth as a human being can be forfeited by his own actions/choices, and the only way to secure his inherent worth is complete obedience to the one person still controlling and abusing him; must learn to think, act, live, love, and exist for himself and those he cares about

Characters that I find the most fun to write:
1. Kaiba. obviously. would have an existential crisis about a cup of coffee.
2. Mokuba, who has exactly one loyalty and that loyalty is to Seto; a blend of childish/immature perspectives with "wise beyond his years" perspectives (he's a preteen); despite sharing a vast number of Seto's traumatic experiences (also being abandoned at the orphanage, adopted by Gozaburo, abused by Gozaburo, and running a company) he is developing a different and distinct attitude towards their past, partly due to differences in age but also differences in personality and priorities
3. Atem, because he doesn't know jack shit but pretends like he DOES; high expectations for himself but shoots himself in the foot bc he doesn't know who that self IS; anthropologically the most interesting, because what WOULD a man from three thousand years ago feel about the modern world? and his own lack of sense of self, combined with his history of dramatic and violent actions, opens him up to a really interesting kind of self-reflection: who is he, and why?
4. Pegasus, because he's a terrible person and i love giving him funny dialogue :)
5. Yuugi, who can be so nice on the outside but judgmental on the inside. Does his best to be sympathetic until you fucking suck; harbors fantasies of being special and important and needed, which make him a very specific type of friend and creates a very specific relationship dynamic
6. Jounouchi because he is full of resentment and jealousy but he's also energetic and zesty and he can be soooooo mean to people he hates but soooooo nice to the people he likes and he's capable of a tremendous amount of grace and growth while at the same time he's desperate to prove himself against even his best friends. Another "time for funny dialogue" man
