If you don't like a story, scroll on by
As someone who has a fatal flaw of needing to have the last word, I get it. You read a story you don't like? You see details they got horribly wrong? You think they bungled the ending? You think their characters made dubious moral choices? YOU MUST INFORM THE WRITER OF HOW THEY ARE WRONG AND YOU ARE RIGHT IMMEDIATELY!
(In instances of racism, homophobia, and other sorts of harmful narratives that networks generally prohibit, I leave to your discretion.)
And again, I get it. The temptation to prove how smart we are is strong. Except, guess what? IT WILL NOT END HOW YOU THINK IT WILL END.
The writer will not thank you. (Even if you're right.)
This is not Goodreads, Amazon, or Publisher's Weekly. This shit is all for free.
And even then, no one is forcing you to read. No one is forcing you to like something. Fanfic writers are doing this out of love and for fun. And unless they consent or request to receiving your feedback, unless you are in their circle of trust -- and EVEN THEN, your critical opinion (correct or otherwise) is not wanted.
You are not our professor, our boss, or even our mother. (And seriously, even if you're our mother, we do not want to hear it.)
At best, you will be ignored. At worst, you will push yet another writer off this hellsite. And in between, you may get your ass handed to you in the comments.

Every time I see a new writing app that's like "We're the new Google Docs/Scrivener/Whatever" I get excited, because I'd love the functionality of Scrivener with the accessibility over devices of Google Docs.
Opens it up.
Just desktop and only Apple store app planned.
Okay, back to Google Docs for me.
Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of these programs, I've used them. The problem is I spend so much of my day away from my home computer and I have zero interest in an iPhone/iPad, having used them before and not enjoyed them.
Right now Google Docs is the only thing that's giving me the accessibility of moving between platforms, but the functionality is crap. I don't want to be locked out of my shit all day until I can crawl home ten to twelve hours later and then maybe go on my computer to write.
I really don't like Google Docs. I cannot tell you how many times each day it locks me out of my own documents every single fucking day. Every other time at least I open a document I have to send myself writing permissions, and some days it's every single fucking time.
But right now it's the only thing letting me do any work.
Please guys, I know it's a lot of work, but if you're worth it, people will come and buy your product. But we can't do that if you don't give us that option.

Me: y'know, we could write something and just...not have context for it. Just get the jitters out of our system.
Also me, pouting: But....but....context....

Thoughts on ST: Disco through S1E11. Now we're kind of getting to some criticism I guess, but in a lot of ways its more just stuff the writers did that I don't understand why you'd do?
Seems there's more trope.Manchurian(agents) than crew.Crew(actual)
One of those false allies killed the doctor before I learned the name of either
Is the romance between Michael and the security klingon-who-looks-human supposed to be tragic now he's been activated? It's been like 2 episodes I think? Going on a couple of dates and hooking up isn't a deep relationship with real investment. If you haven't overall invested about 40 hours of your time in another person, you're not even decently close friends. I just feel like they shouldn't have activated him until Season 3.
Do any characters live/remain past S1 or 2? I don't understand killing off/removing characters before there's enough audience attachment for the death or betrayal to hurt. GOT killed characters right and left, but at least you were upset by it or thrilled - rarely indifferent. At this point I doubt I'll get attached to anyone even if they stay around because it feels like whatever it is psychologically and emotionally that sets you up to get attached to fictional people has already been torn down? Like it feels irrelevant to like these characters - the writers are doing strategy, like Starfleet brass. You put ships and people in positions to accomplish some broad, eventual plot thing maybe? or possibly just that episode. The tactics, the causalities at the local level are just things that happen because of those strategies and any missing or dead people can simply be replaced with a fresh character. It's like a DM who just likes making a game frustrating to play bc you're always rolling up a new character bc they're always dropping a random fuckin' rock on your head.
Starfleet ethics seem to boil down to repeating regulations chapter and verse numbly like catechism and then doing literally whatever any authority figure says to do
The Mirror Universe as they're doing it is stupid. "It's us but bad." Please. Like at least 25% of the ppl watching this show know or have to live with one or more openly fascist shitheels who apologise for nothing and fanaticize about doing a terrorism to social climb in the fashy circles. We are us but bad. Mirror Universe is just what in-person four chan/Fox news convention would look - CPAC, basically - like probably right down to the GreatValue Hyoogo Bawce armour that doesn't cover most of the vital organs

when you have a cool worldbuilding idea but that's the only thing you can think of for that world so you end up brainrotting about aus of your own main idea and now you don't know what your main idea was really meant to be about anyways

my toxic trait as a writer is that I feel guilty when I'm not writing / when I haven't written anything in days and when I'm about to start writing again, I feel too guilty to resume my writing, so I end up not writing, and I feel more guilty for not writing.

Au where Damian comes to Gotham with the goal of infiltrating and eventually overthrowing Batman instead of inheriting the mantle. Not much changes from canon except for the fact that he views everything that batman owns as his. That's his future cave and his future batmobile. This also includes his robins. After all everyone knows Batman wouldn't really be Batman without them.
Cue a very bewildered Tim being lectured on his eating habits by a righteous Damian who won't let one of his people take shortcuts with their health.

Dammit... the word count is exactly 84,500 words, which pleases me, but I have to edit one more scene which is gonna mess that up *sighs*.
(I mean, it probably will go up slightly after proofreading anyway due to the odd missing word).

Dear TV writers: gut shots have a high mortality rate but nowhere near 100%, and our good guys have access to a helicopter. Is there a reason we're leaving the dude to die instead of hauling his butt to a hospital?

There is no feeling scarier than sharing original fiction you wrote with someone who knows you way too well. Like there鈥檚 the instinctive fear of sharing writing, but also like what if they read into it, and think things are autobiographical. Like please, the author is dead, even if you know him well.
