Agreed about smaller writing rooms and cycling through for sure. I don't get it when it is clear they have an unlimited budget? And can you explain what you mean about Netflix not keeping anyone not vital? Just wondering what you mean by that?
The issue with Netflix and other huge companies is that they'll hire as few people as they can to keep things working.
Take a store like Dollar Tree in the US for example. Usually in a store you'd have a restocker, a cashier, a manager, a janitor, etc. Buttttttt wouldn't you save SO much more money if you just hired a cashier who ALSO had to be the janitor, manager and restocker?
That's what the big companies do in the writing rooms too. Maybe in the past, each character had a writer or two who specializes in writing and weaving them into the narrative. In the past, they'd have at least one person who was an expert on the lore and what's happened in the past so that they don't contridict themselves.
They do it to the writing team. The production team. All of them. "We can save money by hiring less people for the same amount of work"

Vivziepop liked this... which is amazingly hypocritical since she shit on Dirg^ntlemn's work just because he critiqued her and called him "NOT A WRITER!" and then also shit on Kyra's work and vagued about how much she hates her and called her a "CUNT!" in regards to Kyra's work. Meanwhile, it's fine to call critique, regular critique, "hate" whenver it's towards her instead of anyone else.

She's also still trying to make overworking yourself into self harm look like "QUIRKY! ALL IN THE DAYS WORK! :D" and is also not just doing this to herself but her employees as well by having them rush out multiple episodes in a single year. It just makes me want to yell "PLEASE GET HELP!" but I know that she wont listen so both me and many others have to just wait for the "train" to "combust" whenever we see this, yet can do nothing about it since people see self damaging behaviors as "normal" in the animation industry.
Like no- NewDeal4animation exists for a reason, damaging yourself and others in the workplace is NOT FUCKING OK!

to clarify, i do like the aroace jughead thing a lot, as an aro person i relate a lot to jughead but i kinda like. as a major archie fan, need to make it clear that archie lore is very loose and doesnt make much sense due to the format of 75ish years of like. 5-10 page one-off stories pumped out at an insane production level, so shit contridicts itself almost constantly. while i see jughead as a gay dude on the aroace spectrum, its up for debate and there rlly isnt a good answer. like. yeah its canon? but there is some weird canon shit in archie and the writers tend to have some different ideas from another so like. take every canon thing in archie with a grain of salt, nothing is ‘canon’ in the way they are in other media. i think him being aroace is a great step forward since hes a character many have seen as queer for a very long time, but like. i just want to be like. ppl having different viewings isnt insulting ‘canon’ bc there rlly isnt a traditional ‘canon’ in this case. sometimes jug has feelings for girls. sometimes he hates them. sometimes he’s straight up a misogynist. sometimes he’s a girl magnet. its like. up and down, its what u make of it

Imagine falling back into sexist early 2000's shipping discourse because your ass doesn't want to understand that you were being queer baited and read too much into it.
Please people lets not do this shit again.
Once and for all:
No, Kairi is not some evil witch getting in the way of your ship. She was alway intended to be Sora's love interest.
No Kairi is not getting in the way of your ship in the first place. If she didn't exist the writers wouldn't suddenly decide to make Riku Sora's love interest. Like how the hell do you think that works? "Oh, the hetero love interest is gone, now it's time to take out my gay pride flag and become a ally to the LGBT community because my views on that matter were totally tied to the existence of this one female character."
Kairi is not a person with agency. She is a fictional character. She is not maliciously trying to ruin your fun or what the fuck ever. Everything established about her character (like the fact that she is literally pure of heart, she is literally a princes of light, that is literally the plot!) contridicts that Kairi is such a desisive and manipulative character.
You guys were being queer baited. The new remind DLC simply put emphasis on Sora and Kairi as a romance and you all want to be in denial about it and are searching for ways to still make your ship happen and it's just sad at this point.
Like fuck, if you still want to believe Soriku will be a thing then that's fine, but please stop falling into the same sexist trap people used to fall into in the early fandom days. Stop blaming female characters for things beyond their control. Stop acting like they are actual living beings with malicious intents instead of holding corporations accountable for their exploititive actions!
Just fucking stop and realize that, maybe, just fucking maybe, Nomura never intended for Sora and Riku to have romantic chemistry but he at some point realized he could exploit this very popular fandomship by feeding into it? That maybe square enix and disney are corporations with agendas that would speak against them making a gay couple canon in this game, yet alone the main characters?
That maybe Nomura has a history of lowkey homophobia within his older games (FF7 gym anybody) and how square's only game series with actual lgbt rep is Life is Strange, which is made by their american team and aimed at a western audience, while all their jrpgs tend to treat gay subtext as jokes or fanservice at the very fucking best?
That maybe we have a patern of behaviour here that is well documented?
That Kairi's lack of engagement in the majority of the story falls right in with how square games treat most of their female support cast?
That there is no secret reason why she is written that way?
That it might be, just a tad bit, more realistic that Square and Disney had/have no intentions for Sora and Riku to be in a relationship and are motivated more by profit then making something nice for the lgbt community, especially with their bigger titels?
Then for Kairi, one of their mascot characters, one of the characters they put a major amount of marketing into, the character they literally model after one of their biggest business partners famous and beloved japanese star Utada Hikaru, in every main line game to honor her, is secretly suppose to be revealed as a evil *itch who's sole purpose is to keep Sora and Riku apart for some stupid reason?
Like fucking come on yall. Falling back into this shit is embarassing. This fandom is embarassing for trying to give this game more credit then it deserves and then trying to bend backwards and find loop holes when they are let down again.
You are just setting yourself up for futher disapointment and are going to antagonize Kairi's fans, who have waited years for her to even get any story relevance at all, while at it!
Just fucking stop it already and look around you. You have to start to accept that Kingdom Hearts probably will never give you the representation you want from it.
That sucks, it really fucking does, it's hurtfull and stupid and idealy we would live in a world where there would be no big deal with gay representation in a colaboration between two media giants like Square and Disney.
But reality is: it would be a big deal.
It would be a big deal regarding cultural differences, it would be a big deal regarding the political climate in Japan right now (I know this site loves to pretend other countries then the US don't have those, but I assure you, we do) it would be a big deal marketing whise, it would be a big deal profit whise for them.
Of course there are companies willing to take that chance. Of course there have been many plesant surprises in the past couple of years.
But please be honest to yourself. Do you truly believe Square Enix and Disney are those kind of companies?
Do you truly believe it?
Because I don't.
Yes both of these comapnies have taken babysteps in having more lgbt representation, but at the end of it all, that's really it.

This post got extremly long, and I'm sorry if at any point while reading this you got upset.
If you still want to hold on to hope for Sora and Riku to end up together instead that's fine, really, but you guys need to stop projecting your disapointment on Kairi. You need to realize that she is not a 'threat' and that her existence is not actually what prevents your ship from being canon.
All you are doing with that is feeding into a sexist trope a lot of fandoms, including this one, have rinsed and repeated over and over again.

I don’t care what you say
the “canon till it’s not” is a recipe for plot holes and you can fake that they’re talking to the writers all you want (I seen plenty that contridict this statement.) but the given information not being in the show is a major downgrade to the series. Why should I have to watch models clip into the scenery,  with poor writing in every regard when I can read a much better adaptation?
Like if this were a FMA deal where it started out and finished before the manga did so hey made that really bad ending and then brotherhood came out, fine, probably. 
 FMA has always had great writing in general. But RWBY has no such excuse, they can afford all these big name Voice actors, the main villian is Jen Taylor for petes sake, they have plenty of money but can’t pay their workers and can’t put yang’s struggles in the actual volumes? We saw her sit around in silence you couldn’t write in the trauma, the pain and annoyance of nothing being able to do anything? Or  losing something as important as an arm? I hate this “It’s canon till it’s not” Argument cause it’s two people who are too lazy to put actual work into their characterization and wait for someone else to write and draw something better and take credit like it was “always intended.” 
I watch the writers commentary, I listen to their panels, I read their post, this isn’t intended and anyone who believes otherwise is fooling themselves.

Lena doesn't owe 'Kara' an apology
Sooo I keep seeing on Twitter that people are hella focused on Lena not apologizing to Kara on the balcony for helping Lex. My response to that? Lena doesn't owe KARA an apology for that.
I think people are forgetting that Kara and Supergirl are two different people to Lena.
You could argue that Lena would want to apologise to Supergirl because she has a connection to Lex through his beef with Superman. But they have already reached an understanding. Hopefully because 'Kara' knows she won't attack Lena with it as Supergirl.
But what connection does Kara have to Lex? Why does Lena owe Kara and apology for helping to keep her brother alive? What connection does Kara Danvers have to Lex Luthor? The only ones I can really think of are her connections through other people. Probably James the most.
To be fair if Lena owed anybody an apology for helping to keep Lex alive (which she doesn't by the way) it would be James! This is coming from someone (me) who doesnt even like James. James would feel it the most that Lex is out and free. In fact James has the right to feel it way more than Supergirl would. Plus we have seen James taking it harder than Supergirl. Why? Because he is actually connected to Lex personally and not through someone else. Supergirl never had anything to do with Lex Luthor at all. She probably never even met him. Remember this was all pre her being Supergirl. Plus she barely set eyes on Clark so I doubt he brought her to Metropolis to meet his bestie.
James on the other hand has met Lex, has been kiddnapped and tortured by Lex. He was there watching the Superman/Lex showdown. Kara/Supergirl probably only saw it on TV and heard about it from Clark.
So yeah Lena didn't owe Kara Danvers the random reporter who had no connection whatsoever to Lex Luthor an apology for not wanting to let her brother die of cancer and cure him so he could pay for his crimes and rot away in prison.
You dont owe someone an apology if they have zero involvement in the situation that happened.
You could argue Lena should apologise to Supergirl for helping Lex but only because of again another bystander connection. Or because of the drama that she's having to deal with now. But half of the drama unfolding is Supergirls fault to.
I already said it once but it's worth repeating. Super Lex Luthor is Lena's 'mistake' because of her need to keep her brother alive. Red daughter is Supergirls 'mistake' because of her need to go back in time and save the lives of the people she cares about even though she knew there would always be consequences to time travel.
Lena and Supergirls 'mistakes' have teamed up. So the issues now are half on Lena and half on Supergirl. But neither is directly responsible. Both thought they were doing the right thing and Lex and the Red Daughter have free will.
Just a note, but people can't accept that Lena was manipulated by Rhea, Lillian and Lex and say that she should know better. But no one says a thing when the Red daughter is manipulated by Lex and Eve and the Russians. It's poor baby Rara! 😑
People get mad at Lena for shooting Corbin to save Alex's life. But it's OK when poor baby Rara murders a ship full of soldiers because she got mad. Or when Jonn murdered Manchester Black AFTER disarming him because Manchester taunted him and he got mad.
So what happens when Kara finds out (if the writers even bother to remember ) that she is responsible for Rara's existence? Will she owe Lena an apology? Will she owe the families of the murdered soldiers an apology? Will she owe her family and friends an apology?
Hopefully I don't have to explain the irony here.
The point is Lena didn't and still doesn't owe the civilian reporter Kara Danvers any kind of apology.
People are mad because Kara was the one apologizing to Lena at Cat Co? Well that was because she was apologizing for something she HAD done. Or rather not done. She was apologizing for not being around as Lena's best friend when everyone else including her sister and even Supergirl had been . Kara only appeared when she needed something from Lena. So Kara was apologizing for not being there as Kara. Lena had nothing to apologize to Kara for.
Plus Kara completely understood and said in life and death situations you help family.
It baffles me that people get offended on Kara's behalf even though she herself is fine with it.
Lena: "I did something bad and I'll never forgive myself. But I will keep helping the Super friends and save Supergirls life any time she needs me to."
Kara: "it's OK Lena, you are a kind and beautiful soul".
Anti Lena fans: "Lena is bad and has hurt Kara!"
Kara: "I literally just said it's all fine and I understand".
Anti Lena fans: "shhhh Kara! Can't you see we are speaking on your behalf and contridicting the things you say?"

SVTFOE Season 4 Thoughts
Ok!! So if I were to critique the show in a nutshell, I’d say this:
•It’s fantastic at building issues up, but payoffs often end up underwhelming.
•Pacing is weird, like you can never tell if an issue is going to be solved in the next episode or next 2 seasons.
•Going off the last point, the timeline is all over the place.
•Retconning and contridicting past points are also occasional problems.
•Generally speaking, it’s obvious the writers didn’t have everything planned from the very beginning, and while this makes sense considering the show’s origins, it still hurts the show.
Now onto season 4!!
•The love triangle stuff in the first 3 seasons made sense and felt more natural, but now it’s being dragged on and on, forcing the writers to push for Starco at the last minute instead of building it up over the course of the season. Don’t get me wrong, I love Starco, but it’s admittedly getting more difficult to enjoy especially when the dynamic has changed so much from what initially made me fall in love with it. Really the main reason I still want it to happen is because the show’s quality would decrease dramatically if it didn’t give payoff to something it’s supposedly been building up to since day 1.
•Many episodes, especially in 4a, were heavily compartmentalized which also helped disturb the flow of the show, which I had gotten used to being so natural.
•To sum up a lot of what we’ve seen so far, I’d call it “disappointing”. I mean, maybe we shouldn’t have had such high expectations for the series, but come on, it’s the last season. We want the show to be the best it can be and end on a high note, and yet only now we’re getting faith back that it will.
All in all, I will admit that these past several weekends’ episodes have been much better than in the first half of the season, and while a lingering fear (mostly because this show is taking over my life rn) tells me that something could still go wrong, I want to have faith that everything will work out and be worth the wait, that we’ll finally get the payoff we’ve been wanting for so long. 💙⭐️

A little Nourasian/worldbuilding rant sort of
Given the focus I give to world building in series, I feel like I need to reiterate this. Early in the fandom history, there was a person who headcannon (though the way it was brought up, it wasn’t so much headcannon as “I say it’s true because there isn’t any evidence saying I’m not even though there is”) that Nourasians were a vegan (not vegetarian) society and had “walls” to keep out “barbarians”. I feel like I need to bring this up in lieu of worldbuilding and how “not” to worldbuild, even if it’s for established fictional worlds like Oz and Oban. 
Let me start this out straight: I have nothing against veganism or vegetarianism, but I feel like when writers make a fictional society/culture vegetarian because “they love nature”, it really doesn’t feel so much as “you did your research”, it’s more of “I think vegans are morally superior people and my mary suetopia is definately vegans, despite using hunting weapons and wearing leather, because fuck you” and it doesn’t really work in the long run. In fact, large scale agriculture, even growing just fruits and vegetables, isn’t ideal for the environment, especially an environment that doesn’t get enough rainfall per season to sustain a large amount of plants to grow. Making your fictional culture vegan/vegetarian doesn’t make them look morally good and upright in any case, it just makes you look like a total a-hole or a vegan who has an agenda and needs a soapbox. It also reeks of colonialism (given how white vegans won’t go after industrial farming practices but willingly go after Alaskan Inuits for hunting whales), classism (given how you can get a couple of apples costs more than a happy meal), and laziness/ametuerness due to how many times this gets by for just without any research.Just don’t do it. I don’t care if you are writing something inspired by AtLA; unless you put some thought behind the fact that your fictional culture is vegan, it won’t sell. 
Now the reason why I had a problem with this outset, is mostly because in order to be a vegan society, Nourasians should not have weaponry associated with hunting. And that is bows and arrows. The bow in general is first and foremost a weapon associated with hunting prey animals, though for the most part it probably started with animals like deer, birds and other swift and small animals. Arrows have been developed for hunting different kinds of animals, such as birds, deer, and even fish. Before they were used in warfare, bows, be it longbows or shortbows, were originally used for hunting, and the fact that Nourasians have it probably indicates Nourasians hunt animals using bows and arrows, and it also indicates what kinds of animals Nourasians hunt, as if Nourasians hunt on the backs of flying insects, they probably are hunting large scale herd animals they can get close to. In addition, if I’m not mistaken, there was a spear. Spears are also another original hunting weapon that is mainly used for hunting large animals either close up (probably on a domesticated riding animal like a horse) or from a distance depending on the type of spear. But for the most part, it indicated that Nourasians hunt animals. Another piece of evidence of Nourasians not being vegetarians is the fact that they wear and use leather. Leather cannot be made from plants, and cannot be produced unless using animal skin, salt, and a mineral or plant compound to tan it. And it may indicate that Nourasians may have some access to large domesticated animals or hunt animals that are used for every piece, since the tanning process may also include the brains to soften leather. What one needs to understand about societies that relied on animals that they hunted or herded, is that these cultures would use almost everything from an animal to work for them. Bones can be used for glue and carved for utensil handles or other objects, meat would be used for eating and salted/smoked to perserve for the future, fat was used for making tallow, soap, shortening, and pemmican, etc. Literally an entire “this society is vegan” concept gets thrown off the cliff when you realize there are huge faults in that assumption. And having a “love of nature” has little to do with being vegan; if anything considering how Aikka cares for G’Dar his insect mount and the canon of Nourasian culture that we do know, Nourasians as a whole, respect nature. “Respect” is the keyword here. You can love nature, but to respect nature, to understand that nature isn’t a happy land that doesn’t have predator prey dynamics or hazards or dangers, is almost better when you consider world building. 
Another aspect of worldbuilding is understand that you cannot just put something in that is easily debunked in canon itself. And that is with the whole concept of walls existing on a world that has flying insect mounts. It doesn’t fucking work when you apply logic. If you have flying insect mounts or domestic animal mounts that can climb up vertical walls or can destroy walls, it just doesn’t make sense to put up walls around your fantasy city. It’s like having a city trying to protect itself from fire and water elementals with fences made of cardboard. Hell, walls didn’t even work in series in which they did help keep out the invading force, like Attack on Titan or Pacific Rim. And to say “oh but lots of medieval cities had walls!” is not going to work. There are many civilizations that never needed walls, because they were on an island (such as the Minoans) or in a hostile environment (such as a desert, rainforest, etc.). In other words, don’t put walls in a fantasy world were flying animal mounts, dragons, and airships are the norm. If anything, you could use another form of protection, such as towers with archers or giant crossbows. Use your imagination and models from history when it comes to anti-aircraft weapons.
The last point would have to be applying xenophobia to a culture that doesn’t display it. Just because you take the whole idea of Nourasia being based off of “feudal Japan” wholecloth and apply “Japan is xenophobic” and then justify that in lieu of how canon treats that, it doesn’t work. By and far, Aikka gives us a good look for the Nourasian outlook on how they treat people who look and act different from them. The very first thing Aikka does is help someone who isn’t a Nourasian. Aikka could have allowed Molly to get trampled, but he doesn’t. And given how Aikka is basically supposed to be the “representative” of Nourasia in the series, and how he talks about Nourasians as being “peaceful” and “friendly” seems to contridict a kind of “xenophobia” argument. 
The one thing I just want to point it out is to reconsider simplistic worldbuilding on a scale and understand logic with established things in the fictional world you’ve created or that’s been created that you are adding headcanon/fanon to.

After Raising the Barn, Peridot hopes to get answers from Garnet’s future vision.  She just ends up with more questions.
This is one of the most popular pieces I’ve written, and was also one of the quickest to write.  I’m happy with the way it turned out.
2) moments of the past, Dishonored, Gen
Some of Emily’s time in the Golden Cat.
I wrote this, had it sitting around in various states for months, then published it.  I didn’t like it, and now I do.
3) Thirty-Nine Thousand Thoughts, Ace Attorney, Gen, platontic!Phoenix/Maya
It’s a long flight to Khura'in and there’s a lot of time to dwell on the negative.
I wrote this because I was annoyed that anime prologue for Spirit of Justice and the actual game contridict each other.  I wanted something that bridged the gap.  I’m disapointed it doesn’t have more views, which I think because it’s one of the only pieces of platontic!Nick/Maya fics in the tag (as, apparently, the entire AA fandom doesn’t know how to use relationship tags correctly.)
4) Fragments, Dragon Age, Gen
A series of moments between Elissa Cousland and Morrigan, and how they came to be friends.
This was the hardest fic of 2017 to write because it was for the Wintersend Exchange, and writing a gift fic involving OCs when you know nothing about the person you’re writing it for?  It’s tough.  I still think this could’ve been better, but it turned out as well as I could make it.
5) Vernal Equinox, Fullmetal Alchemist, Gen
It’s the time of the spring festival, 1912, but East City doesn’t have time for these things.
I wrote this at the end of 2016, and it shows.  It was meant to be a lighthearted fic that turned into a story of grief and mourning.  It was also the first thing I published this year.

GUYS STOP SAYING WE HAVE CANON AGES WHEN IN FACT WE DO NOT!
I deadass think the age thing is faker than shit bad troll prank! I know for certin Keiths page is a fake because the text does not confrom to the page curve (and I mean deadass you can see there is a sharp cruve on Keiths page but the text is straight and level, along with being the same size there is NO porportion to it PHISICS DOES NOT WORK LIKE THAT FAM). you can see clear antiqueing on all the pages more so on the papadin’s individual bios. the Backstory on Corran and Allura’s pages is the same exact thing and has nothign to do with allura or Coran form what I was able to makeiout it was about the Castle of lions (it is still called that Coran refers to it as such in S1 and its refered to as such again in S2) I think, the text was very blurry OBVIOLUAY distorted to hide Antiqueing as Bad Photogerphy but if you look at the Image of Allura and Coran they are clear as day.
The distrtion in Quality, the fact there is no prespective on Keiths Page after the staff keept saying Shiro is way younger than 25 and is not that much older than the other paladins who are around the same age I CAN NOT CONDONE that they would suddenly make him 25.
up to this point ALL OFFICAL REFRENCES refer to the paladins as Five Teenagers and they refer to Shiro as being in his “Late Teens” (thats 18-19 folks) he is also refered to as the youngest pilot to be sent into space period. The information we have on Shiro supports that he was 18 when the kerberus mission took place.
as I said before I CAN NOT CONDONE that Shiro is suddenly 25 that to me reads as fucking BULLSHIT and the way Keiths page is such a fuckign sloppy edit Pidges page is no better the numbers AREN’T EVEN THE RIGHT FOUNT!!!!

I deadass think they will have birthdays(example April 4, Aries) I think the pages exist in the book but I do not think we are seeing the real legit ones.
The image sorce beign 4-Chan was all I needed to confirm it was a fucking FAKE. The books have not even droped yet, and there is no big fuss or bent out of shape reaction form Dreamworks. To me after seeing all these probelms and contridictions to what was actualy said at CC pannels with the writers I am confidant in saying the pages with the paladins ages are at the very least Tampered with to a degree they do not refelct what will be in the book.
The ages are NOT CANON to me and they may never be so people take heed don’t put all your eggs in this basket because it goign up in flames when the bok drops!

tl;dr:  writing is an up-and-down process. writing requires the right frame of mind. editing is more where i’m at today. still avoiding certain pairings in fanfic because my brain isn’t ready (despite loving the pairing). wondering how this will all translate back to my orig work. i need my vacation. how I turn fanfic writing into “educational” writing exercises. 
1.  Still emotionally wrecked from the unprofessional crap I was forced to put up with last week. Frankly, it was abusive and even though I received apologies from the person responsible plus follow ups from other people in positions of authority who wanted to make sure I was okay and also make sure that I understood that they understood that what I put up with was Way Wrong, etc. etc., I just ... .... ... fuck.
2.  just fucking fuck.  why do I still live in this place? when are we getting the hell out of here. just why? kljsdfkldfsjkjlfsda.
3.  writing -- my usual escape -- has been bumpy for the past bunch of days. Editing/rewriting early pieces of drafted bits of Even the Littlest Monsters has gone better.
4.  in an attempt to be productive during my non-work hours, i’ve been trying to examine the emotional wreckage I currently feel and think about how any specific parts of it (including the actual physical discomfort I am feeling, the way in which it was manipulatively used in a professional setting, the sorry-not-sorry realities and attitudes surrounding all of it, meaning that I know the person in question still believes what they believe and they got to assert their power-over because it makes them feel superior) and how this shit can be fictionally harnessed in, yep, that WIP: Even The Littlest Monsters. Been a mixed bag due to the rawness of it all. As much as the writer in me doesn’t want to lose the feelings/sensations/experiences of THIS, the person who is tapping on the keyboard wants to erase the entire experience from my memories and my physical being.

6.  Been thinking yet again about how I keep bookmarking Vincent/Lucrecia and Lucrecia+Hojo+Gast+Vincent+etcetc fanfic yet I am STILL avoiding it (unlike the ocean of Yuffentine recs I plowed through while trying to make sense of that dynamic). Even ignoring-for-now the Vin+Lu+Hojo+Gast stuff written by a prior fandom partner in crime. Sort of feeling like I don’t want to read other takes until I’m mostly “done” writing my “don’t change or contridict canon, only add” take. Or, I’m trying to avoid ideas that aren’t canon or meta-commentary on canon.
You know, that really is the reason. My Lucrecia in Monsters started out as a different take on (or a center-stage evolution of, or sister character to) an original fiction character who, actually, isn’t a POV character and only a supporting character, and not at all tragic or involved in triangular love story or doing ethically off the rails science. So, she was not like Lu’s story but when I revisited Dirge in Feb of this year I realized, huh, I can see a few personality similarities between OC and Lu. So, that’s it. And this other character (a scientist, a woman, with issues) was in something I was working on until I felt a need to put it aside during the winter. When I decided to return to Lu (note: I never got beyond the initial chapter in Dirge when it came out 10 years ago so I didn’t know the entirety of Lu’s story until recently, only knew her OG story), I had this other OC partly in mind but my original idea for Lu in early March of this year has evolved a lot over the past three months but, for reasons of my own making, I set up a few rules/constraints for myself regarding how I will use canon (primary and secondary) while writing Monsters. The rules:
-- I cannot throw out anything that is part of the canon. Example: If I character says or does X, I need to interpret X as reasonable variant of X without subverting or contradicting X. I don’t have to take X as literal truth, but I do need to honor X in the spirit of canon. (e.g., Aerith is dead after OG Disk 1.)
-- If canon contains a contradiction (example: does event Y happen in year A or year B?), attempt to find the least contradictory resolution.
-- When I add something to canon, it cannot contradict or change canon. I need to be able to make a case, however vague and hand-wavy, that the addition could occur as a missing scene, with great and vigorous hand-waviness applied. (That said, if I add something that happens after canon, I have more wiggle room.)
-- I am allowed to interpret purposeful ambiguities in canon how ever I wish so long as Monsters honors some vaguely plausible interpretation of the ambiguity. 
The reason for these rules in Monsters is because I want to force myself to not weasel out of some of the difficult aspects of Lucrecia-as-Tragedy. The more I thought about how many ways I can weasel out of the Tragedy as a writer, the more I clamped down on the rules above. After all, this is a writing exercise to push me (at times) into my discomfort zone. Likewise, when I decided to add the Yuffie->Vincent & Yuffie/Vincent story for a wide variety of narrative reasons (because a tragedy about a professional woman will NOT work until I bring many ladies on stage for thematic contrasts -- and this is in a think piece that ended up on DW, so I won’t repeat it here), well, THAT ship brushes against my discomfort zone despite being cute, so then I realized that me -- a writer who is mostly into realism -- ABSOLUTELY HAD TO apply the rules above so I didn’t weasel even more to soften the Yuffentine into something harmless or cavity inducing.
I do this to myself to force myself to write things that I would NOT write as original fiction and to write those things as well as I can (albeit without excessive effort, because it is fanfic and I have other things to write/do).
Needless to say, the fact that I spent a couple of months hyperventilating while wondering HOW IN HELL AM I GOING TO WRITE THIS AND NOT SHAMEFACE DELETE OR HATE-CRINGE WHILE EDITING OR DFKJDSKLFJKDLSF. Well, it was worth it. 
I mean, I hope it has been worth it. TBD once I have a manuscript that is ~80% of the way there and I’m ready to go into the rewrite-edit-post-the-damn-chapter-wash-rinse-repeat fanfic publishing mode. But I’m starting to like where this is going. Thus: THE RULES.
(normally I am all for AU and for canon-bending/canon-changing/canon-rewriting “what ifs” but not for this. it’s a writing exercise. constraints = good)
7.  Have been learning how hard it is for me to do the final organizational pass on difficult multi-timeline plotting when my only writing hours are just before bedtime (exhausted). Remembering how, for prior big wips (fanfic or orig), I have always finalized the DIFFICULT structural stuff during a 2-5 day “workweek” where I just hole up at a coffee shop, turn off my wifi, and work from 11am-6pm on nothing but finalizing the structure and setting up Scrivener (and sometimes a plot-chart/scene-chart spreadsheet too) and getting all the little duckies in a row. So, I’m at a point where i need to do this for Monsters but I won’t have time until later this month. And that’s okay. But it also explains why the act of writing is feeling annoyingly disjointed this past week.

FAM no just no.... It turns out the trade paperback isnt even written by teh show writers. early copies may be subject to misinformation rule. Trade paperbacks are a funny thing more so if they are not produced by the peopel actualy writeing the show.
