🎃 Trick or Treat 🎃
The Event
Let’s celebrate Halloween together with a fun game! During this event, we’ll knock on people’s ask boxes and send them a simple question: Trick or Treat? 🦇
The recipient decides if it’s to be a trick, or a treat, as the owner of the house.
🍬 Treat — If the recipient choses treat, they share something with us as a treat. This could be a snippet, a line, OC trivia, or what have you!
👻 Trick — Turning the question around, the asker now has to share something of their own! But, seeing as it’s a trick, they may leave something under a read more, or link to something, that may catch you off guard… 😱
The event is held* through 27th-29th of October.
(Examples of) What you can share:
A snippet
A scene
OC trivia
Worldbuilding fact
A song, or even a playlist
A moodboard
Poetry
Anything you think is a treat you want to share!
If you get “Trick 👻”, pulling a trick is up to you.
❗ Tricksters ❗ Keep to etiquette. A rick roll is fun, a spooky gif, a picrew of your character dressed up for Halloween, and other fun tricks are what I hope to see, should someone chose to pull a trick.
Tumblr media
Yes, you read that right! "Trick or Treat" is making a comeback this year 🍬🗡️ Spread this post to get the word out. I'll send an ask to everyone who reblogs this! 🎃
*I will be sending asks during these dates but you are welcome to start this event any time you like and tweak it how you want. Remember Writeblr etiquette and send an ask back to the one who sent one to you! (Excluding me 👻)
🧡 Enjoy 🧡

did you know that less than 10% of AO3 is f/f (less than 1 million fics!!!!!). join the yuri shipping olympics and fight the yuri shortage.
“what is the yuri shipping olympics?”
im glad u asked. you sign up and choose a ship-team to be on. you make fanworks to fill the prompts each round. then at the end, you submit a collab fanwork that you worked on with the rest of your team. theres also bonus rounds where u can get extra points! its inspired by the homestuck shipping olympics of yore so if you remember those, you get the gist. but YSO isn’t about winning it is about bringing more yuri into the world. AND if you don’t want to commit to joining a single team, you can be a vote-only member!
“what do you mean by fanworks?” fanart, fanfiction, analysis of something, edits, music, literally anything!
sign ups end 7/2 so act now and join the yuri shipping olympicsssss itll be fun i prommy

INTERVIEW WITH A WRITEBLR - A Writeblr Event
(I stole the name for this from @brieflyinfatuated because I saw it and was instantly in love. Anyway)
After quite the overwhelming response from people, I have decided I will start posting interviews with writeblrs. The decision came while I was deliberating how to celebrate my latest follower milestone.
HOW IT WORKS:
As I get responses, I will make posts with the information I've gathered. The "interview" is broken up into sections, going over the writer as a person, what they write, and their thoughts on the writeblr community as a whole. Due to the volume of responses and general interest, I have elected to do it this way for the sake of consistency and also to make this easier on myself.
This will be a long-term activity unlike my last milestone celebration. I aim to post one interview a day until I run out of interviews to post, and will be routinely checking the form for responses. Additionally, I have added a page to my site which will serve as a "hub" for all the interviews conducted--though, tracking the #iwaw tag should serve just as well.
HOW TO BE INVOLVED:
Go to this form and answer as much or as little as you want. You don't have to worry about following me--this is an event for all of writeblr, after all! This is my attempt to give back to the larger community.
Also,,, share this post! I'm going to be doing this for a very long time, so the more the merrier!

The end of denial

"Are you a bookseller, too?"
Crowley replied immediately, shaking his head, "Not even at gunpoint."
Aziraphale interrupted, "This is, um... Crowley. He and I..."
He looked at the demon in front of him, wondering how to introduce him, how to say he was important to him without saying what this was about.
He continued, "...go back a long time."
He was pleased to see Crowley's proud expression, but as always, he felt a tinge of sadness at having to deny what the demon really meant to him.
"Sir, you come in here every week, and every week Aziraphale tells you again that these books are not for sale."
Aziraphale, coming from the back of the bookshop, couldn't suppress a small, amused smile as he heard Crowley rebuff an insistent customer who came back every week trying to buy a book.
Apparently, this particular customer had reached the end of his patience, for he replied with obvious annoyance, "Who are you, anyway? I want to see Mr. Fell."
Aziraphale approached and calmly said, "I'm here."
The client turned sharply toward him, then, pointing at Crowley, said, "Your assistant is being very rude and I..."
Aziraphale shook his head and replied in a cold voice, "I'll stop you right there, Crowley isn't my assistant, he's..."
He paused and saw Crowley looking at him expectantly, waiting for him to continue, then he hooked his arm under the demon's and continued in a much softer voice, "...my partner."
Aziraphale had deliberately said it so that there would be no doubt as to the nature of the partnership.
Seeing the client dumbfounded by what he'd just said, the angel added, "And I have nothing more to say to you than what he's just told you."
Then he changed his mind and continued, pointing to the door, "Just one more thing, if you would do us the pleasure of leaving and never coming back. Good day to you, sir."
Ignoring the angry departing customer who showed his displeasure by slamming the door, Aziraphale turned his full attention to Crowley and, seeing his happy expression, knew he'd been right.
Crowley said softly, "Your partner?"
Aziraphale raised his hand and placed it on the demon's cheek as he replied gently, "Absolutely."
The time for denial was over.
They could be themselves now and show what they meant to each other, and Aziraphale intended to make the most of it.
With a light touch of his hand, he drew the demon's face to his and kissed him tenderly, in broad daylight, in the middle of the bookshop, where everyone could see them from outside.
They had nothing to hide anymore, and damn hell and heaven, they were no longer afraid to show their love to the world.

[Event] Writeblr Secret Admirer 2023
Tumblr media
THE EVENT
Welcome to the FIFTH annual Writeblr Secret Admirer event!!
Let’s spread some love and positivity on Valentine’s Day! This is an event where we are going to send and receive some secret admirer messages to people’s ask boxes.
By signing up, you are agreeing to send someone a really nice and loving ask on February 14th, 2023.
I, Undine (@pens-swords-stuff) will be assigning you a person to send a secret admirer message to via asks.
I will also be assigning someone to send YOU a secret admirer message, so you’ll have something to look forward to on Valentine’s Day.
There is no particular criteria about what you have to send, as long as it’s kind and positive. It doesn’t have to be romantic or anything, just send them something nice! Some potential ideas include: sending them compliments; telling them that they’re amazing and loved; comment something you love about their blog; send them a sweet Valentine’s day poem, the options are endless and the only limit is your creativity.
Tumblr media
HOW TO SIGN UP
Complete this survey. It basically just asks you to put in the Writeblr URL you would like to participate with for organization purposes, and a couple other reminders. If you do not complete this survey, you will not be signed up for the event. So be sure to fill it out!
Reblog this post to spread awareness!
RULES
Your ask box must be open!
By signing up, you are promising to send someone a secret admirer message. This is all based on the honor system, and it will not work if people don’t send them. Please make sure that you are committed to this event.
You must send your ask in on Valentine’s Day, February 14th.
No hate or negativity of any kind! Send only nice things!
You can send your ask anonymously, or not. It’s up to you!
When you receive your ask, please post and publish them on your blog with the tag [#writeblr secret admirer] so I can check that people have received them, and to spread the love!
Please follow my blog (@pens-swords-stuff). Important updates will be posted here, and the tagging system is unreliable at best. It’s the only way to make sure you’ll see important announcements.
Tumblr media
The deadline to sign up for this event will be on February 13th, 5PM CST.
Assignments will be given randomly, and will be sent out prior to Valentine’s Day. Depending on when you sign up, you may receive your assignment today, the day of or anytime in between. Be sure to keep an eye out for it in your inbox, be patient, and to make a note of who your assignment is!
If you have any questions, please check out the FAQ here.
For anything not covered in the FAQ, please send me an ask.
Tumblr media
Happy Valentine’s Day everyone, I hope you’ll consider joining and spreading the love!
Even if you decide not to sign up, I would love and appreciate a boost!

To celebrate the season of love, we at Moon and Seraph are hosting a little gift exchange over on Discord! Our aim is to celebrate not only romantic love, but character ties of all kinds. Therefore, this event’s theme is centered around characters and interpersonal bonds.
Event Dates
January 28th — The last day to sign up for the gift exchange (soft cut-off; waitlist opens).
January 29th — The list of gift givers and receivers is shared on the Discord server.
February 10th — The waitlist closes, and there are no more opportunities to join the exchange
February 11th — The second round of names, from the waitlist, is released on the Discord server, if possible.
February 23rd to 25th — Gifts are exchanged.
How to Participate
1. Join our official Discord server, where the event will take place, so we can easily moderate the exchange.
2. Read and agree to our community's server rules.
3. Navigate to the “#exchange-sign-up” channel.
4. Leave a reaction on the relevant message, which will let us know you'd like to sign up.
Read on for more information and rules below!
How the Event Works
Those interested in participating in this gift exchange are asked to register (join our Discord and head to #exchange-sign-ups) within a set time period (Jan. 14th - Jan. 28th). Once the window of time to register for the gift exchange opens, interested parties are asked to do so as soon as possible.
After that window of time closes, participants’ names will be collected. Each person will be randomly assigned to create a gift for another writer who has also agreed to participate in the gift exchange.
At this time, a waitlist will open. Those who request to participate in the gift exchange from this point on will not be guaranteed participation in the exchange— this will be determined by whether an even number of interested parties decide to join the waitlist. A second round of participants will be shared soon after the waitlist closes. Once the waitlist closes, there will be no further opportunities to join in the gift exchange.
Inspiration for Gifts
(Keep in mind, your gift should be character- or relationship-themed! This could be romantic, platonic, familial, etc.)
moodboard
playlist
banner
art
Pinterest board
book cover
Rules & Guidelines
1. You must be a member of the Moon and Seraph Discord server in order to participate in this gift exchange. The event will be hosted entirely on Discord, because it's the easiest way for us to make sure everyone receives a gift!
2. This isn't a secret gift exchange— you are encouraged to contact the person assigned to you and request whatever information you require in order to create their gift.
3. Be sure to communicate with the person for whom you’re creating a gift to ensure they’re comfortable with the content of the gift. Any gifts that reference or depict violent or sexual content should only be given if both parties are in agreement as to these themes as its focus.
4. Contact server mods (Seraph or Luna) if you anticipate the gift you are creating will be delayed, or if your participation status changes. You can let us know in '#gift-exchange', or by Discord DMing us.
5. Deliver your gift to your specified person within the designated window of time.
6. Those on the waitlist are not guaranteed participation in the event. This is determined by the number or people who decide to join the waitlist.
7. We encourage you to share the gift you create publicly in the Discord server. However, we understand that doing so might be uncomfortable for various reasons. If you choose to share this gift privately or on Tumblr, just let a mod know you've done so (on-server or via Discord DM). That way, we can track who has and hasn't sent their gifts. We also encourage you share your gift on tumblr— though this is by no means mandatory!
8. Because this is a Discord-hosted event, any requests to join the exchange that are received via Tumblr will not be taken into account.
9. We will, however, answer questions regarding this event via our Tumblr ask box.

✨Words Into Potions✨
Project intro for Moon and Seraph's March writing event!
Tumblr media
Title: Apophenia
Genre(s): Urban fantasy, paranormal fantasy
Summary:
Mermaids don't exist. Every agent of the Coven, the organization that researches and governs the supernatural community, knows that. Accepting a classified assignment to investigate sightings along the Broken Coast is just an easy paycheck as far as Isaac Soto is concerned (not to mention another way to avoid dealing with his trauma and relationship issues).
A chance meeting with a charming stranger in a roadside diner changes not only the course of Isaac's assignment but the trajectory of his life. A life now in danger of being cut short unless he figures out how to escape the bloodborn who takes him hostage, a necromancer out to kill both of them, and the corruption at the heart of the organization he thought he believed in.
WIP intro and first chapter here
WIP tag: #dysthanasia
Goal(s): One outline "chapter" a week, one faction post a week, one character intro a week
Snippet under the cut
“What brings you out to the western wilds, Isaac?”
“Well…something similar actually. I study big predators. Wolves and cougars mostly. Alligators once in a blue moon. I keep track of their movements and population sizes, births, deaths, habits, that sort of thing.” It was true in a general sense, even if the predators in question spent most of their days on two legs and paying the bills just like him.
“Que coincidência. Do you enjoy your job?”
“Mostly, yeah.” Nevermind that if not for the Coven—and Elfy, for that matter—he didn’t know how he would’ve made it through the past ten years. “I get to travel a lot, see tons of interesting places, expand my horizons and all that.” Rather than huddle on his sofa until he degenerated into a mat of depressed lichen.

INTERVIEW WITH A WRITEBLR — @jezifster
Who You Are:
Astro || He/him
I'm Astro, I'm a trans guy, I'm 24 and native American, I have ADHD and it's a dragon I'm either riding or fighting.
What You Write:
What genres do you write in? What age ranges do you write for?
Action, comedy, fantasy, paranormal, and romance. New adult.
What genre would you write in for the rest of your life, if you could? What about that genre appeals to you?
Romance probably. It's the constant in all my WIPs. I'm corny and I enjoy it, I love to see a couple (or a few) people trying to die for each other. That first kiss is one of my favorite scenes to write. I just love seeing what people in love will do for each other and to each other. It's cute, it's devastating, it's hot.
What genre/s will you not write unless you HAVE to? What about that genre turns you off?
High fantasy. I'm not into worldbuilding, so most of my stories are set in the real world with fantasy elements. I also don't think I could write royalty stories. I think they're neat, but I just much prefer the perspective of the grungy street rat.
Who is your target audience? Do you think anyone outside of that would get anything out of your works?
People who like violence and sex and drugs and anti-authoritarian themes. I think some people do read for my characters, without necessarily loving all the darker topics, and there's always a message that I think would resonate with everyone in my writing. Mainly that those in power don't give a f*ck about those under them and you should tear them down.
What kind of themes do you tend to focus on? What kinds of tropes? What about them appeals to you?
Anti-authoritarian is definitely a big one. Kill God, fight the government, question the system around you. Are monsters actually the monsters and don't heroes just uphold the status quo? I think I channel a lot of my feelings about the real world into my WIPs. I love a lot of tropes, especially the romance ones. Enemies to friends/lovers is so fun. Corruption arcs. ADHD x Autistic pairings is something that's so special to me.
What themes or tropes can you not stand? What about them turn you off?
The main one is the main character being too good of a person. I don't think it's bad, but I love when they get dark. Like yeah pull the trigger, the villain deserves it. Don't be upfront about your feelings and let them rot instead until you do something you regret. I think it's just way more interesting to read.
What are you currently working on? How long have you been working on it?
Bones and Bullet is my focus right now. I've been writing it off and on since I was 13 so I'm on year 11. I really like how it's turning out this time and I know more about the politics and espionage so plotting is a lot easier.
Why do you write? What keeps you writing?
I'm mad at the world and that's part of it. But mainly it's just a lot of fun. I have a blast watching my characters do wild stuff in my head, and I love entertaining others but I've always been the best at doing that through writing.
How long have you been writing? What do you think first drew you to it?
Since I was 8 or 9? I loved reading and I read The Lottery and felt so gut-punched by it I was like… I gotta do that to someone.
Where do you get your inspiration from? Is that how you got your inspiration for your current project? If not, where did the inspiration come from?
The state of the world is a big one. I don't think there's a god but if there is, then why are they letting things happen the way they are? I can make that character and actually ask. For my current project, I really liked action movies as a kid. Especially the really wild ones like the Mission Impossible series. Ghost Protocol where Tom Cruise is suction cupping outside the Burj Khalifa? That changed me. And then later I understood more about politics and the themes of songs like Born in The USA and I was like oh we're not the good guys, so my Agents aren't technically agents anymore, but exploited and discarded ex-agents who are permanently changed by what they went through.
What work of yours are you most proud of? Why?
Bones and Bullet for sure. I think the plot really works and I've always struggled with that, but I'm so excited for the climax of the first book. Plus Shadow and Veronica are characters that I really know very well and I think it shows.
Have you published anything? Do you want to?
No, I just post online. I don't want to do traditional publishing and I'd probably just make my finished project available online and printed independently if people wanted a hard copy.
What part of the publishing process most appeals to you? What part least appeals to you?
None of it appeals to me. Editors scare me, I struggle with constructive criticism, I do not think I could handle a negative review. So that's why I'd make my stuff available for free. Why would someone complain about something free? I would judge them for it instead of taking it personally.
What part of the writing process most appeals to you? What part is least appealing?
I love learning more about my characters. They really become so well fleshed out that they seem like their own people making their own decisions. I just manage the outside influences. The least appealing is the tedious. Keeping track of dates, or names of minor characters, worldbuilding a fantasy transportation system. I just much prefer the people part of it.
Do you have a writing process? Do you have an ideal setup? Do you write in pure chaos? Talk about your process a bit.
Oh it's pure chaos. I plan a lot of scenes while I'm driving in the car listening to music. I write random scenes on my phone, chapters on my laptop. I write when I'm overcome with the urge to, and I don't force it if I'm not. I usually write laying on the couch with my laptop or phone.
Your Thoughts on Writeblr:
How long have you been a writeblr? What inspired you to join the community?
I can't remember exactly but it's been over a year. I initially joined Wattpad but I didn't like some things I'd heard about it. And someone on there recommended tumblr. I've always liked tumblr but never was a part of the creative side.
Shout out some of your favorite writeblrs. How did you find them and what made you want to follow them?
I always follow people who have cool projects, and sometimes they follow me back and we start talking. It's a blast. I have a lot of favorites and I know I'm going to miss someone but @calicojackofficial, @vacantgodling, @multi-lefaiye, @addisons-damn-dialogue, @written-in-gold, @mrnauseam, and @kingkendrick7 are all super cool creators who are a lot of fun to talk to.
What is your favorite part about writeblr?
That you can do whatever you want here pretty much. It's not Twitter or tiktok and that's a good thing. It feels real.
What do you think writeblr could improve on? How do you think we can go about doing so?
I think there should be a way to engage more with readers. It's always nice to get feedback from other writers, but I know there are people who aren't writers but are mainly readers who would like to follow writblr projects who have no idea that's an option.
How do you contribute to the writeblr community? Do you think you could be doing more?
I try to read and reblog when I can. I like to participate in ask games. My dms and asks are always open for rambling at me about projects in. I would like to do more but my mental focus has been struggling lately due to life stuff so once I get that sorted out I'll be more reliable.
What kinds of posts do you most like to interact with?
Character posts are a lot of fun. I love seeing art and moodboards too. Ask games are a blast. Excerpts, of course.
What kind of posts do you most like to make?
I like to share the weirder lines I write as short excerpts. I also enjoy making ask games and full chapters.
Finally, anywhere else online we may be able to find you?
Discord in my pinned. I have an instagram and Twitter but I don't use them really.
Questions For Fun:
1. Got a favorite pairing, either in your work or in someone else's? What about it makes it your favorite?
What is the weirdest line you've wrote? What inspired it?
Some that come to the top of my head are Gwaine and Asher by @calicojackofficial , Hector and Ari by @written-in-gold and @addisonsdamndialogue, and Hya and Amon by @vacantgodling . All very fun couples with fantastic dynamics. It's hard to choose between my own pairings, but Shadow and Veronica have such a special place in my heart. They've known each other since childhood, fight a lot, know way too much about each other, act like they're divorced, but ultimately are incredibly loyal to each other. I have such a hard time deciding if I ship them more as friends or romantically.
"Oh, the sexy but fragile human body, boo hoo, you're hot, walk it off, have a potato, since you're so fond of them."
If your writing was a plant, what plant would it be and why?
It's a scene with Gabe and Satan from Rarely Reverie. Gabe is mad because Satan accidentally shot him. Satan is both flirting with him and annoyed that he's being blamed for it. They're just a lot of fun to write together because they're at odds a lot but have excellent chemistry.
Well I write a lot of stoner characters so I've got to say weed. Cannibis Sativa since there's a lot of action scenes.

Summary
What was supposed to be just a romantic flight takes on a whole new meaning as Aziraphale and Crowley gaze up at the world from the starry sky.

He spread his wings, made a few movements with them to make sure they were working properly, then took a deep breath and said, "Let's go."
He flew up into the sky, and as he soared higher, he saw the bookshop, the busy Whickber Street, and then the city lights grew smaller and smaller. Then he flew past some clouds until there was night and stars all around him, and he stopped to look at the Earth, now barely bigger than a small marble.
So small in this great universe, so beautiful and fragile.
But oh, so precious.
He felt, as he always had when it came to the little planet, this deep, strong, raw love that drove him to protect it and its inhabitants from all dangers and whatever else his and Crowley's ex-sides might think of doing, because for Heaven and Hell, Earth means nothing or just a means to an end.
At that thought, he feels anger growing deep inside him. The same anger he is filled with every time he thinks about how Heaven regards its own creation. He feels it growing inside him, intense, burning, uncontrollable.
"Angel?"
Then it immediately stopped.
Just that word, uttered in a soft voice, overcame the rage that overcame him, and the gentle pressure on his hand was enough to make it subside, leaving only the love for this planet and the fierce will to protect it, no matter the cost.
Then a caress on his hand removed the last vestiges of anger and he turned his eyes to the demon at his side. Crowley, in whose eyes he read understanding and the same fervor as his own.
This planet, so precious to them, for it was what brought them together in the first place. Before their shared love, it was the will to save the Earth and its people that made them overcome all the obstacles that fate had placed between them.
Once he's calmed down, he can also see the concern in the demon's eyes and blames himself for being the one who put it there.
Crowley asked him gently, "Are you all right, Angel?"
Aziraphale, without letting go of his hand, moved closer to him, his wings fluttering gently, then replied, "Yes, I'm fine. I'm sorry, I didn't mean for this flight in the sky to turn into a drama."
Crowley gently stroked his cheek and shook his head before saying, "Don't be sorry. I know how you feel. We won't let anything happen to them."
"How do you understand me so well?"
The demon winked at him and replied playfully, "Thousands of years of practice," then his expression turned serious again as his eyes focused on the planet far below their feet and he said quietly, "This is our home. So we will protect it. Together."
He wrapped his arm around the angel's waist, and Aziraphale rested his head on his shoulder, repeating softly, "Together."
They stayed like that for a few minutes, embracing in the starry sky, looking down on this world and its inhabitants that they loved so much.
Then Aziraphale slid his hand down the demon's arm and intertwined their fingers, saying softly, "Come on, let's go home."
Crowley smiled at him, nodded, and together they flapped their wings before diving toward the Earth.
They both felt their hearts racing as they approached the Earth. Crowley gripped Aziraphale's hand a little tighter as they flew over Tadfield, and a little later, Aziraphale's hand tightened around Crowley's as they passed over Whickber Street, where their family and the heart of their home lay.
They finally landed on the roof of the bookshop, still holding hands.
Aziraphale pushed back a lock of red hair that had fallen across Crowley's forehead during their flight and said quietly, "How about dinner at the Ritz to end the evening on a high note?"
The demon simply asked, "By land or by air?"
The angel immediately replied, "By land, among them."
Crowley planted a light kiss on Aziraphale's lips and nodded before saying quietly, "Let's go, Angel."
Some time later, they entered the Ritz and a butler escorted them to their usual table.
After their champagne glasses were filled, Crowley raised his to the angel and said softly, "Cheers, to the world."
Aziraphale clinked his glass against the demon's and replied, "To our world."
They said nothing more, they didn't need to as the same burning will to cherish and protect this world was shining in their eyes.
Their oath.
To the world.
To their world.

You want to write.
@flashfictionfridayofficial
Tumblr media
It shouldn't be that hard: you simply need to sit down, and type. In fact, you are already sitting down. But you are scrolling down on Tumblr, once again, reading about your mutual's amazing works, and their compelling plots, and their amazing characters, and- You stop. No, you promised yourself you would work on your project today. It excites you, you have had it itching on your mind while you were busy, and now that you are free, alone in your room and with the whole afternoon for yourself, you can finally scratch that itch.
You quit Tumblr. The calendar Widget accuses you, looking at you with all the tasks that are still marked red throughout the week, a parade of errands, deadlines, and appointments that stretch along the month. Feeling your anxiety kick in, you make sure nothing is as urgent as to keep you distracted today. Nothing is. Except maybe that hang out with your friends this Saturday: you still haven't checked the public transport schedule. Quickly, you type your destination and calculate which is the best bus to take. Most options are good enough, but you opt for the one that will let you eat peacefully and still catch the bus with no hurry. Having decided, you get into your friend's group chat and let them know you will be there at 15:30. When the new message makes the others move, you notice how old your wallpaper is. It annoys you.
You slip into your Photo Album and scroll around in search of a new wallpaper. Nothing convinces you. Most are too bright for your liking, and not very aesthetic. Pinterest is the solution. Your recommended page catches your eye for a second, but you power through because you have already lost enough time, and you are here on a quest. Or you would be, if not for the fact you just found a picture that just summarized the feeling of your project in a single image. You save it to your pin board, and a tiny lightbulb lights up in your mind. You could craft a moodboard. The image you found is perfect, you may be able to put something together. There were these pictures at the beginning of the board that could look amazing in the corners. Maybe downloading them and heading over to PicsArt will do the trick.
It looks great after some mingling. You choose pics, delete others, and manage to put together a moodboard you are very proud of. So you head over to Tumblr to post it, format the post to look amazing and spend some time tagging funny quotes. You wonder if you should add more Easter Eggs, but after reflecting on it, you post it as it is. Then, you check your feed to make sure you aren't missing anything, and find out your favourite mutual just published an excerpt. After reading it, a plot bunny is born in your head. You are not sure of the logistics, though, so you open a new tab in Google and do a little research. Just a little, because your current project mustn't be overridden by this new idea. In fact, weren't you supposed to be writing right now?
You go back to your home screen and slide into Spotify to choose some music. If you are going to write, you need to set the mood, of course. Now, what would be the best playlist? A scary one for that tension scene you've been eager to write? Suggestive since the main character and the love interest are about to confess to each other? Maybe just some chill music to drown the background noise. That would be the best. Now that you have the music, you have to find the position because your back is killing you from being lying down all day.
A notification catches your attention: your friends are confirming they are up to hanging out on Saturday. You get in to send a "hahaha". Then you start the song again because this tiny distraction disrupted the flow. And now, now! Now you can begin writing.
You open your story and reread your last paragraph. And you remember why you stopped last time: you were supposed to find a name for this new character. You stopped writing because no name you thought about encapsulated the essence of this new person who randomly decided to appear in your project. The imactivity causes the screen to go black.
It's obvious: you are not in control anymore, up to the point that this project is taking a toll on you. But, oh, all your Tumblr friends, all these amazing stories you read... they do seem to know what they are doing. Unlike you, they do write, because they do know how to, and they are good at it. And, meanwhile, here you are, unable to get a single word down even though you are craving to do it.
Maybe you simply have to learn from them, pick up the clues they leave, and study how they build their chapters. Maybe you have to read a lot more. That's it. That's what you have to do.
You open Tumblr again.
