Moonpie Solves A Mystery
Moonpie flopped onto the couch with a sigh. She was glistening with sweat from her performance and still slowing her breathing from the excitement and physical effort. She closed her eyes and sighed as she remembered the cheers from the audience and the thrill of feeling the energy of the crowd. Nothing quite like it. Not the same intensity as a battle against the forces of the Fel or whatever dark forces were threatening the races of Light on any given day. But a different flavor, the mixture of anxiety and arousal creating a unique profile for the mind and body. A luxury for Moonpie to be able to access both to keep her long life interesting.
She sipped her cocktail and reclined in the dark space of her booth and watched the moving bodies in the club. She scoped out which patrons were intriguing, attractive, or entertaining. She supposed the hunt for a partner (or partners) for the night was yet a third enjoyable experience of anxiety and arousal for her. From among the crowd a lithe Kaldorei woman separated herself and walked - no stalked - towards Moonpie. Moonpie locked eyes with her and took a deep breath as she ran her eyes over the woman. She was well-dressed, clearly wealthy, gorgeous, and confident in herself. Moonpie cracked a small smile at the thought of all the possibilities for the evening. However, she was more than a little disappointed when the woman started off with “Are you, Vindicator Celeste of the Horns of Retribution Private Investigators? I have a case for you.” Oh, Moonpie thought. Work, not play. Sigh.
“Yes, ma’am. I am. Although my partner is more the detective than myself. But how can I help you?” Moonpie sat up straight and put on a friendly smile. Just because she would much rather be meeting this lady for recreation than occupation doesn't mean she can't deliver on some semblance of professionalism.
The elf slid on to the couch next to Moonpie. “My lover is missing. And so is one of my family’s heirlooms. I do not know if my lover is the thief or a victim. I want you to figure that out as well as recover both. If he is a thief, I want him to answer for it. If he is a victim, I want him rescued. The heirloom must be recovered regardless.” She delivered her plight with a businesslike tone as if either option was equally acceptable to her.
Moonpie nodded as she listened. “Ok Miss…?” “Serai ” “Miss Serai. We are happy to help you. What can you tell me about the heirloom, your lover, and when both were last seen?”
Moonpie interviewed Serai as best she could. Being realistic, she really was the lesser detective of the firm. Bluntly put she was, at best, a hobbyist.. She mostly served as sounding board to her partner, Ryodari Fateshifter, and watched his back to make sure he didn't get ambushed and murdered on the more dangerous cases. Here was her opportunity to prove herself, mostly to herself.
Serai said she had gone away to visit some family and left her lover, a human named Mark Tallwood, living in her home. The heirloom is a blue-gemmed amulet he had taken a liking to and had her permission to wear. When Serai returned from her journey she found the home empty, with Mark and amulet gone. Her home was in a rather sparsely populated area so no particularly close neighbors to give her much insight as to what may have happened. There was no sign of struggle or break in. The home was tidy as usual but she said she has some enchantments in place that take care of dust and what not so some evidence may have been erased by them.
Moonpie asked more about the man. What was his profession? Where was he from? Any known enemies or debts? Serai struggled a bit to recall. It seems theirs was a more… physical connection and she hadn't asked that many details of his history. She knew he was from Westfall and little else. In general Moonpie was picking up more on Serai’s personality and getting the sense she wasn’t a very attentive person in general. She had a theory. She told Serai she would look into the matter and agreed upon the standard contract fees and so on. After Serai went on her way, Moonpie’s party mood had dimmed somewhat. “Stupid work encroaching on my play time” she grumbled. She concluded to finish her cocktail, call it an early night, and look into this matter in the morning.
The trip to Westfall was relatively quick thanks to the many portals between the major cities and access to flying gryphons from Stormwind. She made a brief detour to visit a murloc village she knew along the way. They are really a rather jovial bunch once you get to know them. After some tea and snacks with Grr’oggle’rr, she finished the trip to Westfall.
The people of the area were friendly enough answering her questions, if a little intimidated by her. This area was still largely rural and almost entirely human so a Draenei Vindicator was something very foreign and suspect. The Defias Brotherhood was still active in the area. Could be a source for fencing the goods, she thought. After asking around and following lead to lead, she found out the family Tallwood had a farm near the coast. She took off for the location she’d been given.
As the paladin approached the farm house a mother and young girl came out to see who their visitor was. The mother was wary but the little girl was bold as children often are. Moonpie introduced herself.
“Hello there. My name is Vindicator Celeste, but you can call me Moonpie. What is your name?”
The girl wrinkled her nose at Moonpie’s introduction “Moonpie is a weird name! My name is
Serai Tallwood. My mom is up there, her name is Mom but some people call her Miriam.”
“Your name is Serai, is it? What an interesting coincidence. Do you have a relative named Mark? I am looking for him.”
“Do you mean Great Uncle Mark? He’s…” The girl was interrupted by her mother’s approach.
“Mark Tallwood has passed away, several years ago, Vindicator” the woman said with a puzzled look on her face. “What business would you have with an old man?”
Moonpie was briefly surprised that the fleeting theory she’d had last night might be true. “Years ago? An old man, you say? Do you mind if I ask for more details, ma’am?”
Ultimately, Moonpie discovered that Serai’s “family visit” took a bit longer than she had realized, and the lives of humans are indeed quite fleeting to the likes of elves who live for millenia (as do Draenei). For those long lived races, some individuals are better at the awareness of passing time than others. Moonpie had been very involved in the wars and happenings of the recent years which kept her anchored in the present. Unsurprisingly, Lady Serai was more flighty and was away much longer than she had realized.
Additionally after she was gone much longer than he had expected, he tried to look for her. He knew where she had sailed from and to. He spent his savings trying to follow her trail, although he was far behind. He knew she had made it to her home in Teldrassil (before the burning). She was even seen in the harbor town of Auberdine but she didn't get on the boat back to the Eastern Kingdoms. He tried to find leads but the search went cold and he ran out of money. He couldn't bear the thought of selling the amulet, so he went back to their shared home and waited a few more years. When she never turned up and none of his inquiries yielded further information he concluded she had run afoul of monsters or Horde or things unknown.Heartbroken and aging, Mark returned home. He kept the amulet with him in remembrance of her. And he was buried with it when he passed away of natural causes a few years ago.
Moonpie returned to the city and contacted Serai at the location she had given her. Serai seemed genuinely surprised to hear the answers to what had happened to Mark and her necklace. “I really didn’t think I was gone all that long. Hunh.” Moonpie asked where she’d gone from Auberdine. She said, “Oh I ran into a friend and we detoured to Moonglade. We even spent some time in the Emerald Dream…Oh. That explains it.” Moonpie didn't know what to say to that. She gave Serai the information of where to find Mark’s grave and family, should she want to visit. “I would say out of tact, to maybe wait a good while before you try to reclaim your heirloom. Maybe after a couple generations have passed so no one should be particularly sensitive about you… um, exhuming it.” Serai said she would make a note to come back for it later as suggested.
Moonpie finished her story and took a sip of her drink as she raised an eyebrow to her companion.
“Wow!” Ryo said. “Well, that was some solid detective work you did. Great work! Shame how out of touch with reality some folks can become.”
“No kidding. You wanna know the best part?” The demon hunter nodded for her to continue. “The lady asked me out afterwards. Since she was, after all, single now.” Moonpie laughed.
Ryo winced a little, “Oh Moonpie, you didn't!” Though he was all but certain he knew the answer already.
Moonpie shrugged one shoulder with a sheepish look on her face. “What can I say? She was pretty hot. I totally don't expect to hear from her again anytime soon though. Given her track record.”

I’ve done this. It’s not perfect. I’m happy it’s a start though.
I’ve put off Arion’s backstory for s o many years. And this will probably be changed in the next one or two. My main chromatic is my favorite, and I dreaded this as I did not wish to ruin his character. I still have epilogue pieces to finish but. But dear lord let me have this wall of text lol. Hopefully ya’ll enjoy if ye read through! ____ A large red dragon flew over the trees, shifting autumn colored leaves around him as he flew towards the sanctums portal, and landing on a large marble step. Blue eyes flicked towards the guards momentarily, as he lowered his head in greeting, "..Wyrmrest has a meeting tonight, I'm to deliver the message to the Obsidian Dragonshrine." The dragons guard nodded, moving to allow the dragon through, "...Be careful Aeriostrasz, there have been shadows lurking as of late." He muttered, Aeriostrasz nodded before stepping through the portal. Finding himself at the bottom of Wyrmrest temple, marble walls with gold runes and emblems marked the walls, and paths to every individual dragonshrine. Leading to the dragons chosen ore carved into the eyes of each of their portals. Save for one, with gleaming dark facets and shining eyes, shifting from dark orange to red. It wasn't difficult to find why Aerio imagined the image of burning coals within those gems. The portal itself glowed with a strange blue-green, much like his own. The obsidian sanctum was no different from the ruby in theory..yet in practice. The rumors he had heard, he prayed stayed only rumors. Only recently had a strange clutch of deep purple eggs steeped with....some kind of corruption been discovered within the ruby sanctum, Korialstrasz elected to have them relocated or destroyed before they could cause further harm. Aeriostrasz couldn't help but wonder if that's why this meeting had come up so suddenly after the death of an aspect. He carefully stepped through the portal, immediately brought into a burning realm and surrounded by a moat of lava. The only way to go was forward now..in a way however, the silence was deafening. "Nalice..go meet our guest." Halion tilted his head slightly towards the chosen "Ambassador", she'd played her part well. And would likely continue to do so, the loss of Sartherion meant nothing to their plan after all. The wyrm was weak. "..Why not kill it now? This seems foolish." She said, turning to the approaching form as Halion revealed a long row of sharp fangs, an unsettling grin covering his face, "They destroyed my siblings...it's only fair one gets to see what happens to those who cross the master." Nalice nodded, leaving as a drakonid general followed her. A common precaution. ~~~~ "And I take it you're our messenger?" A voice sprung up from the darkness, startling Aeriostrasz, who immediately nodded towards the obsidian dragon, "...That's right..we discovered an unusual clutch of eggs within our sanctum. The same of which one of your broodfathers was caring for." Aeriostrasz said gaze shifting over the boiling terrain, "....We just want to know what they were." Nalice tilted her head quizzically, "...They were? What happened to those eggs if I may ask?" Aeriostrasz shook his head, "..Korialstrasz requested for them to be destroyed or relocated. I do not know their fates." "..I see. It's unlike your flight to not offer a second chance." Aeristrasz simply nodded, "....there was something..wrong with them. That's all I'm aware of." Nalice seemed less then amused with the answers she was given, but simply flicked her tail to dismiss her guard, ".. I see..how intriguing.." She murmured, as something started to creep out of the surrounding shadows, flickering yellow-orange eyes watching the red dragon as he stared, somewhat disturbed as swirling thoughts filled his mind. Thoughts that weren't Aerio's own. Halion watched the red dragon struggle a few moments longer before releasing the spell, "Your kind are so very gullible.." He hissed, Aeriostrasz scrambled back, talons sinking into the ground below him, "What are you?" Aeriostrasz finally managed to say, between the terror that'd just filled his mind moments before, and whatever this was, he knew he needed to earn the aspect. The obsidian flight had created something far worse then the now destroyed artifact. Halion watched the red carefully step back, "A new dragonflight. Your replacement..if you will." Aeriostrasz's eyes widened, as he stepped back again, he needed distance to run. The aspects needed to be warned. "I didn't reveal myself to allow you to tattle. No..I need someone to tell the tale." Halion had long broken the reds barrier around his mind. Aeriostrasz reared back, launching bright red flames towards his new opponent with a snarl, "You will not harm my home!" Nalice simply shifted, lunging to pin the smaller dragon quickly, using his wings against him, "Ah...too late now I'm afraid. The aspects have no idea what's to come this night." She hissed, Halion's unsettling glare set upon the red dragon, "We don't plan for you to die however...not yet. Why don't you rest.." Aeriostrasz struggled, trying to find a grip on the ground as Halions spell set in again, drowsiness setting in quickly, seconds later the dragons struggling stopped. Replaced by uneasy breathing. Nalice huffed slightly as she stepped off the dragon, "Well...Now what?" Halion yawned, paying little need to the resting red dragon, "It's a surprise for my brother. He's been looking for new...subjects since his sudden and welcome return." ~~ The next time Aeriostrasz awoke, it was in a dimly lit cave, more magma surrounded him, but the scent around him remained different. The after-effects of the spell still weighing heavily on his mind, he just remained still as he watched two figures step nearby, "...An entire Red dragon...how can you be sure his flight will not search, however?" Halion fixed the larger wyrm with a careful stare, this time not playing any mind games with his kin, "....Quite simple, he's one of very few survivors. The red flight has larger issues at the moment, Zarithrian has made short work of the leftovers by now, I'm sure." Aeriostrasz let out a low snarl as he made an effort to stand, "...What are you on about?" He hissed, taken aback by the other dragons appearance, that- that was no dragon anymore. The undead wyrm just tapped a talon lightly, as if debating something, "...You say he resisted somewhat?" Nefarian asked, ignoring the red dragons glare and question, Halion nodded, "...Enough to prove a problem." The twilight seemed somewhat annoyed, the red dragon had reacted, that was true. But not in the intended way. Nefarian nodded, stepping away, "...He's contained for now...I'll see what to do with this useful..guest." The dragon's steps faded down the dimly lit hall, as Halion fixed the red dragon with his gaze, "..Seems he appreciates the gift. Too bad I won't be able to see what happens here- I am rather curious." He turned to leave as the red dragon snarled, lunging forward as he was stopped by elementium bars, "...Alexstrasza will know. The red flight will search." He snarled, glaring at the Twilight who simply shrugged, "...I doubt that. Seeing as she couldn't even search for her own eggs." __ Only a few long days had passed, Aeriostrasz after a certain point could not help but wonder if he were forgotten. He tried the door to his cell multiple times by now, but no fire would melt it. And nothing could grow here, not for lack of trying. He sighed, laying down in a slump, no way to know what'd happened to his home. No way back with his wings bound the way they had been...he somewhat could ignore the hunger if it didn't add on to everything else going on. He tilted his head slightly as three drakonid guards entered the room, approaching the cell carefully. The next thing the red knew they'd entered, quickly muzzling him before he had the chance to charge any magic in his tired state, He slammed one of the drakonids away with his tail, but the largest of the group harshly tugged his head aside before he could ram into it, "...You'll do well to behave. Lord Nefarius has plans for you after all." The guard that was tossed aside seemed to have somehow survived but had been coughing harshly. Aeriostrasz knew there'd be no threat from that one at least. For now. Another harsh tug, the red gave an annoyed snort, reluctantly following the head drakonid. Nothing good could come from any of this, that much was known. _ Nefarian had been waiting in a large arena-like room, five strange-looking marble pillars filled with different colored liquids dotted the outside, the middle of it simply had 4 sets of chains. The undead wyrm's cloudy gaze landed on the red dragon as it was dragged in, paying little notice to his wheezing guard as he raised a talon, shooing it away, "..The muzzle stays on, I am no fool, however, I will permit telepathy." The wyrm said, motioning for the guards to drag Aeriostrasz over. Aeriostrasz resisted, digging claws into the dark rocks below and tugging his head back, -I refuse, what is this?- "...a work in progress. With hopeful results." Nefarian grinned menacingly at the dragons confused glare, "...I don't expect you wish to die now. Allow the drakonid's to do their jobs. You are simple to replace if needed." The drakonids tugged again, Aeriostrasz thought of lashing out towards them, but the wyrm was too close. He'd need to be able to get off the ground to stand much of a chance now, reluctantly, he followed them into the center of the room, wincing as his head, wings and tail were chained to the ground, restricting his movements completely. He noticed the Wyrm step around the arena completely, tilting his head somewhat, "...I do wonder if you'll end up another failure, however." He hummed, as he laid a talon over a large rune, causing each individual pillar to glow and the contents within to slowly ooze down below the red dragon. Then, simply silence, as a tense air filled the room. The Wyrm was observing. Aeriostrasz began to wonder if this nightmarish plan had failed as something stabbed into his side, pain spreading over his body as he collapsed to the ground, gaze blurring as the world went dark. Nefarian watched the drake with mild curiosity, as the red scales slowly seemed to take on other hues. So far- the dragon did seem to be alive. That's more than his failures could say. He released the chains, motioning to the two drakonids who had been nearby, watching the door, "...Return it to it's cell. We'll see if this has been worth my time tomorrow." _ Aeriostrasz awoke the next day, aching and tired, but alive. He took a few moments to gather his surroundings again, taking notice of his talons and wings taking on unusual colors. His eyes widened, he shouldn't be alive, should he? That pain.. He lifted his wing, expecting a deep wound on his side. Nothing, just a deep red patch of scales that seemed to curve into each other. The only real evidence that harm came at all. "....Why.." Aeriostrasz cut himself off , noticing the door open again, a group of drakonids dragging a smaller form behind then, Nefarian close behind with a grin, he immediately let out a low hiss, it was a line he never assumed anyone would cross. Turning a small hatchling into...this. Whatever this was.. Nefarion snorted, somewhat annoyed by its tantrum, "I do hope you'll enjoy your cellmate, A-13. " _ Things seemed different after that, the small yearling that had been introduced was wary but friendly enough. Aeriostrasz grew attached to the company quickly, making things difficult for Nefarian to practice his experiments on the small thing. After a particularly bad test that resulted in his friend's loss of memory, the chromatic seemed even more protective and quick to anger. Aeriostrasz hardly allowed the guards within range to touch the smaller dragon. He'd keep to the promise he made, they would both be okay. Aeriostrasz curled himself around the smaller dragon, nuzzling her as she shook again...more nightmares. Something he'd hoped would improve for her over time, Etanti raised her head slightly, wearily glancing over, "..You're still up..?" came her quiet murmur as Aeriostrasz nodded, "..Mhm. Don't worry much about it, alright?" He yawned, glancing over as he noticed a trailing shadow on the wall, he growled standing over Etanti protectively, Nefarian just simply strolled over to the edge of the cell, "...This will not do...not at all.." He muttered, flicking his tail towards what seemed to be a strangely lanky Drakonid, who moved to open the gate, muttering something under his breath. Aeriostrasz snarled again, moving closer to his friend, "..I won't let anything else happen to her." "..That's exactly the issue. You're to be separated." The wyrm hissed, cloudy gaze falling onto 13-A, "..I suggest you come quietly. Or I'll have to be rid of her first.." Aeriostrasz's gaze fell, as he looked at the smaller dragon he was hiding, "...Aeriostrasz..?" She questioned, noticing the dragons scared expression, Aeriostrasz lowered his wings slightly, "....find your way home. Okay?" He said, nuzzling her slightly, Etanti shook her head, "...You...are gonna come back? Right?" "..I....I hope so." Aeriostrasz muttered, following Nefarian out of the cell, unaware this would be the last conversation he would have with his friend. At least that he knew of. _ He followed the strange pair into a hallway that seemed to loop onto itself, snorting as he noticed more of those nightmarish objects, "...You've become a liability at this point 13-B." Aeriostrasz glared at the undead wyrm, tail lashing, "So what if I am? I am not allowing a hatchling to be harmed under my care." He said, stepping away from the dangerous flames the wyrm seemed to wield with ease, Nefarian sighed shaking his head, "...So close to successful...and yet.." The wyrm tilted his head, letting Maloriak pass him, "...How about a test of your abilities hm? Remove its memories." He growled, head lowered towards the hybrid, "...Do not fail either." Aeriostrasz let out a strangled snarl as a Drakonid tied him down to the surrounding structure, coughing as the chain around his neck loosened again, "...It...won't work." He huffed, as Nefarian moved to leave the room, "...It will. You are simply a tool after all.." Aeriostrasz made one more attempt to lash out towards the wyrm, terror guiding his movements as the hybrid wasted no time, injecting him with one of his many elixirs and watching the large beast slump to the ground, easily incapacitated for the time being. Long enough to get to work. -- The dragon groggily awoke to the sound of an outraged roar, shaking his head slightly, why did he feel like he wanted to rush out and help all of a sudden? Maloriak grinned slightly at the results, the dragon itself remained unchanged, save for the blue patch of scales on its leg, but showed little to no regard for the yearling he'd once been so protective over. He hadn't failed this simple task.. He placed the research notes Nefarian had told him to refer to, the next day would be even more taxing for the creature. Something to look forward to. ___ 13-A quietly lay in the cell, unsure of his own surroundings now, he knew something was wrong- but he could not figure out what, he couldn't recollect who he was even.. The dragon shuddered, looking at a strangely colored talon, he still knew these were not his scales- they shouldn't have been. He carefully shifted into a humanoid form, hoping for answers, yet less came then, he knew his form should have been more...similar to mortals. Yet he chose to show scales and claws, horns even, he made his wings appear and disappear at random. He couldn't deny this form felt oddly comfortable, however. Even if nothing helped him recall who or where he was. Shifting back into a dragon form, he lay his head on his talons, glancing at a wooden table with various parchments, scribbled with ink at random intervals. No answers there either, nothing he could see from where he was anyway. Even with the decent vision dragons had. Maloriak rattled the door slightly, catching the beasts attention, "..Ah...testing day you know!" The hybrid hissed, glee filling his tone, maybe more then it should have, "The master really thinks you're special! Thinks you can deal with one of his own mistakes." He added, watching the dragon's confused glare, 13-A, despite not knowing where he even was, knew that he hated the thing in front of him. He snarled as the dragonman quickly wrapped his muzzle in leather, "...Keep that temper for later. You'll need it after all!" 13-A hissed but hesitantly followed, hoping this would answer what was going on. He noticed a strange man adorned with glowing blue armor waiting for them, "..Ah...seems things went better than I planned then. I fully expected 13-A to kill you." 13-A...that was the most this dragon knew about himself. He was a simple number to these beings. Orange gaze flicking from side to side, he snarled as the dragonman undid the muzzle, backing away swiftly, "...About this...it's a combat test. I do hope you'll prove better than the ones who came before you, 13-A." "...Before me-" The dragon started, before a force of magic threw him through the door that locked behind him. His concern only grew as he smelled rotting piles of meat deeper within the chamber. With no choice but to go forward, the dragon took extra care as he wound through the hall, eyes widening as he stared into a dimly lit orange room. In the center rested a strange creature, something vile and clearly created for one purpose. To kill, Nefarian waited within a hidden ledge over the arena, mildly amused. He was ready to step in if needed. both assets were useful. But just how far would their limits go now... _ 13-A stared at the thing in horror, that was no creature that should be alive, it already seemed to be falling apart at the seams, Rearing back he moved back towards the door, unaware the creature already had sensed this new source of prey, quickly standing as one of its heads snapped closed on the dragons tail, rearing and tossing 13-A, who let out a sudden startled roar, back into the room, both pairs of eyes latched onto its target. 13-A moved to claw the thing, ignoring the burning pain in his tail from the location of the bite. The creature let out a startled screech, and instead of lunging away, lunged towards the now terrified dragon, using both heads to latch onto a leg and his chest, a thin clawed arm slashing over his right eye, luckily not damaging the eye itself but the blood dripping into his already blurring vision made that less of a comfort. A strangled snarl left the dragon as he launched a large flame that shifted between colors towards the beast, who hissed and dropped its prey, 13-A coughed, a wheeze escaping the injured dragon he reared back again, launching another, more powerful flame towards the target, glaring as the thing shrunk back, hissing as part of its leg was caught in the strange fire. 13-A snarled, preparing more magic to fling towards his opponent as it suddenly turned against him, flames eating at his talons and sides instead, He let out a pained roar as he shrunk away, magic canceling completely as he stumbled near a wall, collapsing. The creature momentarily considered its chance, backing off as Nefarian snarled, entering the room and watching the wheezing dragon near him. It wouldn't last much longer with the damage it sustained. Nefarian allowed the wheezing to become hardly audible before he summoned a spell, this time to cheat the experiment's death. He lazily watched as the wounds dimly healed over, scales changing from the known purple hues to green or bronze, black covering his back, the chromatics breathing eased again as color returned to it. "...Take it back Maloriak. I've seen enough for now." He muttered, forcing the still unconscious chromatic to shift to a humanoid form to be taken back. He needed this one alive. At least for now. __ The dragon finally stirred after a few days, wincing as he moved, the memory of the fight momentarily flashing into his mind, 13-A immediately reached up to his right eye, more scales. He was in a humanoid form now as well, he supposed it was to make his healing process somewhat easier, sighing, he lay back down covering his side with a wing, "...What now..?" He muttered, looking around the room quietly, watching the guards pass here and there. They paid him less heed than usual...did they assume it was because of his injuries? Now curiosity had set in, he carefully tested the door, it hadn't been latched quite right. A guard had gotten lazy. Though still sore, he knew there wasn't much time to debate, carefully the door was opened with a quiet creaking noise, stopping as the hinges snapped into place. 13-A winced, hoping the noise didn't attract too much attention. He waited, anxiously as guards continued on their paths, the noise clearly muffled by the bubbling magma in the nearby room. A fortunate silence it seemed. Breathing a sigh of relief he stepped over to the wooden table, he thought about burning the research that remained on the parchments, he stopped, recalling the situation before, he didn't know why his magic turned against him- Azeroth's sake he shouldn't be upright already either.. He quickly snatched the parchments, not caring if they were all correct or not, before moving to leave the room. His current form was significantly smaller, easier to keep hidden considering his strange appearance. Answers would come later, now, he needed to find the way out. He looked around the ring that surrounded the magma, as disoriented as he was, he could easily choose the wrong path and get recaptured. Shuffling along the wall, he kept silent, not paying enough attention to his surroundings as he bumped into something laying down nearby, he did not notice the large purple shape outside his door, as it somehow blended into the dark. Scrambling back he glared at the creature, which raised one of its heads carefully, yellow eyes locking onto the chromatic with ease. The eyes seemed filled with rage, yet draconic and intelligent. This wasn't the same as the one before...not entirely. 13-A watched as it stood up, as the other head returned a similar wary gaze as his own. The creature let out a low huff as it stepped closer to the chromatic, who by that point realized it may just be the thing he needed. He wasn't getting out alone anyway, not easily. He wondered, it seemed to regard him similar as to how a whelping may have in this situation...also meaning it hadn't had the chance to hunt often. Illusion magic was much less taxing than most.. The shimmering flame shifted into blue, then into the faint outline of the first creature 13-A could find himself recalling. A small rabbit. That quickly got the being's attention. He allowed the arcane creature to dash around the two-headed creature, which in turn, instinctively moved to chase it, lunging forward with something that sounded like the cross of a roar and a bark, 13-A waited until its attention was fully on the illusion before grabbing the heavy chain collar on one of the heads, hoisting himself onto its back as it darted after the illusion. The large two-headed thing paid little notice, its focus set on what it perceived as prey. It made for more chaos than 13-A would have liked, bowling over Drakonid guards and tumbling into one of the drakes, he dreaded being caught for that moment, but the drake's attention seemed more set upon the creature than the chromatic. He waited until they got close enough to what seemed to be a lifting platform, before allowing the creature to catch its prey. The illusion faded as the beast's jaws snapped shut on it, the lift going up soon after. "...We're getting outta here. Don't worry." He said, in an attempt to reassure the large creature, who at that point seemed a bit nervous about being off the ground. A low huff emitted from its jaws before it bolted off the platform, the second the lift stopped, and began sniffing the ground. 13-A knew there wasn't much trust here for either of them, but they had gotten further than he'd ever assumed. He followed the creature carefully through a doorway, paying little notice to the hallways nearby. Things within had made noise, but they were too far to really be seen by either party. His gaze lit up as they stepped onto a platform. The land below had long been destroyed and burned, not by its current occupant. But it wasn't land connected to the cages. 13-A took a glance at the parchment. In the chaos of his escape, some of the writing had become smeared or burned, becoming more difficult to make out. One thing had managed to stand out however, his number had deferred back to his name. One that, aside from a few letters seemed illegible. It was enough to work with however..Arion seemed the most fitting for what he had to work with. Shifting, the dragon opened his wings, snatching the creature he'd found within the depths. Refusing to turn back. Answers would come eventually. Safety was first. ~~ Arion had begun to falter as he crested the hill below him, somewhat aware of the Drakaedon he'd managed to bring with him. There was plenty of green around the burned mountains he'd gotten away from. He landed near a hollowed-out den, tucked nearby a waterfall. It'd work until his injuries were fully healed.. he shifted, placing the drakaedon down carefully. The den was not that of dragons, in nature anyway. It was well hidden however... he entered the cave, tucking the parchment inside a hollow within the rock. it wouldn't be harmed by the elements there...he'd have time to decode it. This would be home for a while at least.
