Oh gosh, Lynda’s songs... Well La Centenaire is literally one my top five favourite songs of all times and all languages I think, standing side by side with with giants such a The Show Must Go On or Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This) in my personal wall of fame. It’s just so beautifully written (C’est que je suis avide/Mais qu’y a plus rien à mordre/C’est qu’mon passé déborde/Et qu’mon avenir est vide 😭😭), and addressing such an universal topic: what’s the point of living old if that’s in a world that is no longer yours, where everyone you’ve known is already gone? I can’t help thinking about my grandmother who’s turned 92 this year and whose mindset is definitely getting closer to this song every year.

And the song in itself is absolutely beautiful, the piano theme, the little violin arpeggi, Lynda’s voice at its finest bringing so much intensity to it, especially for an acoustic song... To me it’s just a masterpiece with a rare degree of perfection and I cry every time I listen to it because it’s beauty in pure form 😭❤️

And ugh, Les Deux hommes is basically La Centenaire’s little sister, a beautiful, beautiful acoustic melody and pure poetry, heartbreaking lyrics about same-sex parents facing homophobia... It makes me cry a lot too (btw thank you no thank you for this ask, anon, I listened to them both in a row to write that reply, and now I need a minute. Or two. Heck, make it an hour, okay?)

All right, all right, La Marmaille is nice, but how about I counterattack on the motherhood field with Si Je Ne Te Fais Pas d’Enfant, then ? 💔 (L’amour peut bien durer longtemps mais un enfant ça dure toujours, gah, she has her ways with words, huh?)

And oh, I didn’t know Les Maudits Français, this one belongs to the Funny!Lynda side, kinda reminds me of Les Souliers Verts which is the first song I’ve heard from her (pretty sure that was her first hit in France?) and which made me laugh so much back then 😂 (not for the story itself which is rather sad, but the lyrics are just sooooo funny and inventive)

Well, I’d say that if you know Starmania, c’est l’essentiel!!! 😍😍 I don’t necessarily find Berger’s music particularly fitting of an HPI mood, I guess that Message personnel kinda fits any bittersweet-angsty shippy situation? And of course, if you really want to dive into the drama, SOS d’un terrien en détresse for breakdown!Morgane, maybe?

Look, anon, you’re really expanding my Coeur de Pirate opinions today! Oublie-moi definitely carries this perfect mix of catchy music + somewhat angsty lyrics which is the exact brand of HPI: a colourful, irredeemable optimism tainted with delicate hearbreaks ❤️❤️ Adding it to the playlist RIGHT NOW

In Supersons we see a couple of kids that are implied to be Damian and Jon's children and the boy has laser eyes and can fly, so I asume he's not adopted. The girl, who calls Bruce grandpa, can also fly, btw. So it's canon (probably by accident) that Jon can have kids and he must have married one of Bruce's kids. we started living in an old house

22nd Feb. 2021,

tedious work this afternoon. starting to put the last changes into Inner Mechanism, which is essentially muting silence and listening back to every song i work on a few times to see if it's made any improvements or i need to edit it more. i'm only on the first song and am already sick to death of my own voice again. mum and her bf were out for a bit so i was home alone, and they got back just as i finished work on the first song - hopefully it's now done for good, mainly so i can release it with the date i have in mind.

in other news, college went great. i was 21 minutes late for the lesson thanks to laptop issues but i think i put the mockers on that myself by listening to a song that has the lyrics "this machine, no sign of life" (My Centurion by Gary Numan, check this playlist that i made). that aside, it was so nice to be back, hearing everyone's voices and actually writing with an actual pen in an actual book. also managed to get praised for my contributions in class which made me a little emotional - that probably shows how damaged i am lmao, but i don't have any more college until 3 pm for a short catch up meeting so. time to stuff my face and get even more sick of my own voice.

update: just finished a second song, which means i think i only have three more to work on. it's just gone 2 pm meaning i have just under an hour lunch break, so time to go stuff my face. update two: i have put what i hope to be the finishing edits on six songs today. Matty off the 1975 has been on the tube and my heart literally broke when i saw because the compartment looked empty and i just wanted to be there. imagine commuting with somebody who saved your life :( looks like he's been in the studio again so hopefully the DLID material will be here soon soon!! the meeting with my history teacher went well too, he said all i really need to do is explain and use my own voice more and i'll be hitting distinction level work. fingers crossed for next time.

6 pm: final final final FINAL edits have been made. teaser posted to instagram, tracks uploading to bandcamp... wow. i've done it. celebrating by listening to some of my favourite songs at the moment - call it an album finishing party playlist!! i don't feel too hungry but i might ask mum to watch a film with me once all the songs have uploaded. more strange things are happening - ps it's almost 1 am now. i should be abed. but i just found out that the man i am in love with is literally 5 days older than my dad?? and my oldest sister added me on snapchat earlier?? in other news i am obsessed with Dragula - Rob Zombie and now that M*rilyn Manson has been cancelled, i might try and listen to Rob Zombie, Skold and KMFDM instead of him. Skold has released 2 albums in the past 3 years i haven't heard yet and is about to drop a new one, Rob has a back catalogue of fuck knows how many albums. there's no promise i am going to do this, but i just thought it was a cool idea. didn't get round to watching a film with mum today but seeing as i have no college tomorrow, or later today rather, i hope to do so then.

It’s taken me so long to choose only 9 because there’s been over 30 albums I’ve loved so much this year and couldn’t decide between. I’ve narrowed it to one per artist but even still, it was very difficult😂

I also apologise for this being v v v long, you only have to list your 9 favourites but I got carried away ranting about them, as per. You can just scroll past if you want😂

1) City Lights - BAEKHYUN

My favourite album of the year. No doubt. Despite being a mini album with only 6 songs, I love each so much and could never get tired of them. An album I can listen to in every mood. Going out out? Going to sleep? Getting ready on a morning? Trying to study? Relaxing? It works (for me, anyway).

Not what I expected from his solo music after discovering SuperM & EXO but very pleasantly surprised. So smooth, so chilled?? Sexy? Absolute heaven. Baek’s voice is just something else entirely. Idk man, this album’s just a lot.

Favourite song/s: them all, I couldn’t honestly choose any in particular.

2) SuperM The 1st Mini Album - SuperM

I was hesitant when I first saw all the promos for SuperM but when I actually listened to the album?? Wow wow wow. All 5 of the songs are so catchy, listen to this album once and you’ll most likely be singing, humming or dancing to them for days. Even the 2 instrumentals are lovely to listen to.

My brother who hates kpop refers to Jopping as 'the one with the cars and helicopter' and doesn't mind this song at all which says a lot (I've decided it's my gateway to get him into more lol).

I’m also very thankful that this album introduced me to 4 other groups and many albums this year, 3 of which made it onto this list.

Favourite song/s: also them all? Although Jopping, I Can’t Stand The Rain & Super Car are my most listened to this year. 

3) April, and a flower - CHEN

I literally discovered this album about three weeks ago?? I also did not expect Chen’s solo works to sound like this after listening to EXO but it’s honestly perfect. 

I don’t normally listen to this kind of music but his voice is so delicate and soothing? He could sing absolutely anything. Every song is so beautiful and calming, the perfect playlist for relaxing and/or falling asleep to.

Favourite song/s: Flower, Beautiful goodbye & I’ll be there

4) The Balance - Catfish and the Bottlemen

I kinda stopped listening to CATB for a while when I found kpop as I was constantly discovering new artists. Around September/October I disconnected with kpop for a little while and when I found this album I listened to it for weeks on end.

Not a single song to skip and I happily listen to on a loop. Also one of my go to albums when I’m fancying a change (or when I’m just missing their sound).

Favourite song/s: Longshot, 2all, Sidetrack, Encore.

5) OBSESSION - EXO

My first EXO comeback and boy, they did not disappoint. The title track is absolutely phenomenal and I’ve had it stuck in my head since its release (how can you not?) but the entire album is such a great listen. It’s just, different? I can’t even explain how but it’s so distinct and exciting, I love it.

Also the most intriguing group I've discovered this year with all their different sounds, personalities, sub units and solo works, very looking forward to everything's that's coming up next year.

Favourite song/s: Obsession, Trouble, Ya Ya Ya & Baby You Are.

6) MIRRORS - Jackson Wang

An emotional rollercoaster of an album that I’m so grateful to have been on. It has songs that’ll make you want to cry (BULLET TO THE HEART, ON THE ROCKS, I’m talking about you), songs that’ll have you dancing and feeling like that bitch, songs that’ll make you soft, songs that’ll get you thinking.

I feel like he put so much into this album, so thankyou Jackson Wang. I love you.

7) MAP OF THE SOUL: PERSONA - BTS

The first kpop album I ever listened to (and bought!!). I found BTS as the second teaser for Boy With Luv was released and without them, I wouldn’t be on here and have come across so many lovely people. Nor would I have discovered all the music and artists I now couldn’t go without, so this album is very special to me.

Probably one of my most played albums of the year too, I love each song so much and it never fails to get me all giddy and hyper like a child (don't put Boy With Luv on around me unless you wanna see me rip the choreo to shreds).

Favourite song/s: I choose them all.

8) TREASURE EP.FIN: All To Action - ATEEZ

This was also my first ATEEZ comeback and having waited what felt like forever, it was so, so worth it. While their other 2 2019 albums could’ve made it onto my list, this is by far my favourite.

I remember listening for the first time going ‘this song is my favourite’ then played the next song like ‘nevermind, this is it’, which happened for practically each track.

Even the 3 shorter tracks are amazing (I don’t know what you call them, there are words so I can’t call them instrumentals?? But you know what I mean).

AND I ALSO GOT ATEEZ TICKETS FOR LONDON SO CATCH ME SOBBING WATCHING THEM PERFORM LIVE, LIKE WHAT IS HAPPENING???

Favourite song/s: WONDERLAND, MIST, WIN & SUNRISE.

9) The Book Of Us: Entropy - DAY6

Another album I only really found last month (through Sweet Chaos). I’m pretty new to kpop this year and I’ve not heard anything like DAY6 before, I’m in love. My housemates compare their sound to McFly and honestly, I can hear it. 

I cannot praise them and this album enough. I’ve a feeling I’ll be listening to this one years from now. 

Favourite song/s: I honestly can’t pick ahh, but Sweet Chaos is my most played.

We had now boarded our flight, I still had no idea where we was going and I don't think Brad was going to tell me where we was going until we had actually reached our destination.

I looked over at him and saw that he already had his earphones in, a way of calming him down when flying. I tapped him on the shoulder. He took one earphone out and turned to face me.

"Are you alright?" I asked.

"Just a bit nervous!" He weakly smiled.

I took his hands in mine. "You'll be okay, I promise!" I kissed him on the cheek, then placed my head on his shoulder and placed the earphone he wasn't using in my ear.

"Oh!"

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing, you wanna listen to music with me?"

"If that's okay?"

"Of course!"

He pressed play on his phone and suddenly music filled my ear along with everyone else's conversation on the plane.

I started laughing at soon as I recognised a song from the playlist he was playing. "Is this your Plane playlist from Spotify?" I asked.

"Yes, why? Do you want me to change it to something else?" He suggested.

"No you can keep it on, I was just expecting you to listen to some meditation app or something?"

He laughed. "No! Music is more relaxing!"

"Okay, you enjoy your music, I'm gonna see what movies they have on this thing!" I placed his earphone back in his ear and started browsing through the movies they had until I found one I liked. I grabbed my earphones out of my bag and connected them to the screen thingy.

I settled down into the movie until I felt a tug on my earphones.

"What movie are you watching?" Brad asked.

"Pitch Perfect Two!"

"Can I watch it with you!"

"Of course!" I gave him the other side of my earphones.

We both settled down into the movie until I started drifting off.

Before I knew it the plane had landed in the destination Brad had picked for us to go on holiday in.

We stepped off of the plane and I could feel the heat already.

"Welcome to The Brahmas baby girl!"

"The Brahmas?"

"Yes!" He smiled.

I hugged him so tightly that I probably squished him to death.

"I've always wanted to come here!"

"I know, that's why I've brought you here!"

"Thank you! Oh wow, I love you so much!"

We went and got our suitcases and then got a taxi to the hotel he had booked!

We was three days into our holiday, I absolutely loved it here, everything was so beautiful and perfect. I walked into mine and Brad's room and saw he had placed a beautiful red dress on the bed with a note:

"Dear Y/N,

I'm not sure if you'll like this or not? If not then feel free to wear something else. I've made dinner reservations for us, I'll come and collect you at 6:30pm

I looked over at the clock on the wall. It was 3:00pm. I jumped in the shower and began getting ready.

I did my hair and makeup, I then put on the dress that Brad had picked out for me, it was absolutely beautiful!

Before I knew it, it was 6:30pm. There was at knock on the door. I went and opened it to see Brad standing there. He looked me up and down.

"Damn. Oh wow!" He smirked.

"Don't you getting any ideas!" I playfully hit him.

"Um, I might be!"

"Oi!"

He smiled cheekily "C'mon!"

I took his hand and he led me to a taxi that was waiting for us outside of the hotel.

"Baby girl, this is gonna sound wried but is it alright if I blindfold you?" Brad asked.

"Blindfold me?" I asked confused!

"Yeah! I want it to be a surprise!"

"But we're just going for dinner aren't we?"

"Not exactly! Now is it alright if I blindfold you?"

"Um, okay?"

He gently placed the blindfold over my eyes. The taxi then came to a stop.

"Ready baby?" He asked.

"Um no! I can't see where I'm going!"

"I'll help you!"

He guided me to the place where we was having dinner.

"Okay you can take your blindfold off now!" He spoke.

He carefully helped me take my blindfold off to reveal a beautiful beach setting and a picnic laid out on the sand.

"Brad, what's happening?" I asked.

He took my hands in his and cleared his throat.

"Y/N Y/L/N, from the very first day that I saw you, I knew you was the one for me. Yes we've had our many ups and downs, but I wouldn't of had it any other way, I think that's what lead to me bringing you here and I'm about to ask you something that I've always dreamt of asking you. I thought I had lost you that certain day, which I'm not going to go into details about, because that's not important, what's important is that you're still with me and I couldn't imagine myself being here with anyone else but you. You're perfect in every way possible. I love you so so much!"

He then got down on one knee and pulled out a black box from his pocket and opened it.

"Oh my god!" I blinked back my tears.

"Y/N Y/L/N, will you marry me?"

"Yes! Of course! Oh my god!" He slipped the ring onto my finger. I then jumped into his arms and kissed him!

"Woah!" He stumbled backwards.

"Sorry! I'm just so overwhelmed! I can't believe it!" I looked at my ring. "Wow! It's beautiful!"

"I wasn't sure if you'd like it? Your parents and my parents helped me pick it out!"

"Brad, I love it! It's so beautiful! Thank you!" I kissed him again, which he returned. Soon enough we was making out on the beach.

I pulled away for air.

"Maybe we should stop?" I suggested.

"No ones gonna see us, we have this entire bit of beach to ourselves!" He kissed me.

"Brad! As much as I love kissing you and now being your fiancé, can we actually eat something cause I'm really hungry!"

He laughed! "Of course!" He lead me over to the picnic.

"I made your favourite! Mini pizzas and chicken nuggets!" He smiled.

"Did you really make all of this?" I laughed.

"No, you know I can't cook to save my life! I had somebody make food for us!"

"That doesn't surprise me!" I took a bite of one of the mini pizzas.

"Speaking of surprises I've got one more for you!"

"What else could top this?"

"A beautiful sunset possibly?"

I turned around to see one of the most beautiful sunsets I had ever seen!

"Wow!" I said breath taken, suddenly I felt two arms wrap around my shoulders

"Has it topped it?" He whispered.

I turned around and wrapped my arms around his waist.

"No! Nothing could ever top you proposing, other than our wedding!"

"You know what?"

"What?"

"This is one of the best days of my life!" He smiled.

"Mine too!" I smiled back.

We then continued watching the sunset and enjoying our picnic. Nothing could get any better than this, expect the day we actually got married of course!

those iconic moments are like ICONIC i think i've seen all of them except for the eunsang one. my favourite iconic moments and the first ones that popped into my head are soobin's "bye guys hi ladies muah" and sunghoon's tiktok video that went viral recently. those moments live in my head rent free. i literally cannot get them out of my head.

and, yeah the cgi in monster was very startling and i have a physical reaction every time i see it.

i'm so sorry that she's left and her favourite group disbanded 😕 and i don't take any offence either!! i know i'm not her because this is my first time writing publicly on tumblr, and none of my favourite groups have disbanded so far.

ooo!!! idk if it's because i don't understand giffiing or because the giffing i see on my dash is so high quality, but if there were a tumblr hierarchy i think giffers should be on top, besides graphics creators and artists. they're constantly keeping up with new content, and giffing all of it in HD (sometimes 4k) with good colouring (even when the original doesn't have good colouring) and i'm just like WOW. i know i could never do it and i respect the grind fr. so, i respect you for doing that, making graphics, AND making fanart at the same time. speaking of fanart, i saw your recent felix one and i am BLOWN away. like, how?? knowing that your canvas was once empty and you managed to produce THAT out of it is literally like... my mind is blown.

ooo yes, i'm picky with who i read too. when it comes to a little read here & there, the quality of the writing doesn't matter much to me. but when it comes to reading longer fics, there are only a few writers who can captivate my attention for THAT long, you know? please don't apologise for studying!! i've been busy myself these days (which is why this is SUPER late), so i completely understand.

Ah, how could I forget that… it’s really such a cute and funny vid to watch! Sunghoon’s tiktok? I don’t recall seeing any of his recent ones so I’ll check it out!

Ooh yeah the continuous wait for frames to finish rendering; that’s a pain. But it’s overshadowed by the nice tags people leave after reblogging or some sweet asks; really makes it worth it. Thank you so much, that’s legitimately so sweet of you to say <3 it took a while because it was the first time in a while but seeing the positive response makes my heart happy!

I prefer series over drabbles so I usually have to look for writers whose diction I vibe with and I have found three (used to be a bit more but unfortunately, quite a few left) that are such! I also am kinda selective about genres I read, mostly it’s angst/thrillers/crime but a little slice of life or fantasy here and there doesn’t hurt. I generally don’t like really fluffy or romantic ones— I’m the kind of person who wants the plot to be interesting and read more of what’s happening outside of someone’s love life; same with movies and dramas! Oh and I avoid nsfw like the plague. If you would like to check them out: @/maatryoshkaa (her serial killer au is amazing, I kid you not! I’d recommend checking out the stuff she wrote for a halloween special last year, it has some real gold hidden in the nooks and crannies) & @/angelictaehyun (I only recent started reading her stuff and was done with almost all of her Taehyun fics in the span of a day. Her wording has a prim and proper feel to it, but it’s also not awkwardly professional? She writes shorter stuff, at least compared to what I’m used to, but most of her works are cute and really keep your emotions engaged).
