You’re a Hufflepuff, aren’t you
🤨
They tend to play the “cute and innocent” façade but I know they can be sneaky, calculative and dangerous…… show yourself (well….not literally keep things pg….. 🤣)

SoM Day 7
the hunt is on
Keraunos opened his mouth, another question half-formed before Alkidike suddenly perked up and dashed ahead. In a flash, an arrow jumped from her quiver to the bowstring, nocked and ready, with her fingers light on the string as she ducked through the trees and drove into the shadows.
The boy stared after her as she left the path, clambering over rock and felled tree, waving him along.
“Come on!” she shouted before dipping out of sight, tied-back curls bouncing behind her like a wagging tail.
He frowned, un-enthused with the sudden lack of attention on him and his questions, but let the feathers shiver out of his skin all the same, shrinking his bones in the same breath that his wings bloomed and carried him into the sky.
With a bird call as familiar as his own name, fated in its certainty, the boy whooped and caught the attention of the young girl below.
Looking up into the midday sun, Alkidike shielded her eyes and then grinned, raising her arm as she ran. He swooped down, pulled at her hair and scratched his delicate talons along her arm, not enough to draw blood but enough to hurt if she let it. Instead she ran faster, laughing now, delighted to have a bird at her side as she raced up the mountain, arrows at the ready.
Ahead of them, Keraunos spotted the tip of a fat, black-scaled tail just as Alkidike drew back her bowstring.
An arrow shot forward, the tail flicked away, and it the arrow clattered against a rock. Alkidike drew another and missed again, drawing a hiss from her mark. Steep, rock walls closed in around them and still she ran, heartbeat in her ears, each pounding step pulsing through her.
One more try.
Bow taunt, arrow nocked, brows drawn in concentration, Alkidike, daughter of Ares—
Tripped.
On a fucking tree root.
And crashed forward, twisting just in time to land mostly on her back instead of her face.
As she fell, Keraunos flew above, scanning the rock wall for the black-tailed creature, and spotting an inky glimmer that disappeared into a cave near the top. He cooed low in his throat and flew back down, prepared to report his findings only to find Alkidike still sprawled on the ground, eyes scrunched up, tears pooling down her cheeks as she sucked in bursts of air.
Keraunos landed on his chest and snagged loose strands of hair in his bill, tugging lightly on them. She sucked in a steadying breath and then smeared her hand across her face.
“Sorry,” she mumbled, sniffing back tears and then groaning as she sat up, rubbing her shoulder, vaguely checking for open wounds, while Keraunos fluttered off and landed a few feet away.

There is a great stillness amongst the women. Somehow there's cold sweat all over Alina's body, underneath the hot bathwater. In the dead silence her toes tingle and her toenails fall off.
I am so delighted with this bit, you have no idea how much.
