#working on a final project (building an app) and i had an idea and it's not working out at ALL

my creative writing process as a planner 🌟
the idea:
story ideas come to me at the most random and inconvenient of times. right before i fall asleep, when i'm in the shower, during my classes, etcetera. my main rule is to always write them down, whether it's in my notes app or a slip of paper or a journal... i'll forget it if i don't.
i try keeping it simple at this stage and not thinking too deeply about it, otherwise it becomes quite overwhelming. sometimes ¡'ll make a pinterest board depending on what the idea is. if it's more of an aesthetic, then i can make a moodboard out of it to help inspire me more. however, if the idea is a plot of some sort, that can be a bit more difficult.
character and world building:
this is my favorite part. once i have an idea set in stone and i'm ready to work on it, i begin building the characters and the world around it. i figure out the mechanics of the idea and how it can relate to characters and the world they're in.
at this point, i'm definitely making pinterest boards, playlists, and picrews to feel more immersed in the skeleton of the story.
i still keep it as simple as possible, and try to enjoy it. when i try juggling too many things at once, i end up wanting to abandon the project. slow and steady is the key for me :)
creating the story:
now we get down to what being a writer actually is.. transforming the idea into a story. i have to at least come up with one major plotline to start. i usually write in my journal during this stage, but sometimes i'll use notion to organize everything and keep track of it all.
oftentimes, the main plot will come to me when i'm working on character and world building. sometimes it's even the idea that first popped into my head. the story is usually influenced by dreams i've had, my own every day experiences, and other media i consume.
arcs, subplots, themes, etc:
this stage is for the smaller details that are vital for the story to flow and actually work. it's like a puzzle that's finally coming together.
for me, a story isn't a good one without arcs and themes, so those are of utmost importance. subplots are necessary to make the world more immersive, give readers insight on the characters, and keep the story naturally flowing. everything has to be woven back in to the main plot or idea, though.
i will say, this is the stage that tends to give me the biggest headache :P
zero draft:
jumping into a first draft as a heavy planner is too scary for me. so i came up with the idea of a zero draft. basically- zero expectations.
this is the backbone of my story. in this stage, i'm basically just taking myself through the steps of the story. i organize the plot and subplots into chapters, and with each chapter i go through all the beats of each scene. literally every. single. thing. that happens.
i don't usually include dialogue in this phase, but i do mention when a character will be in a conversation. all the focus should be on putting a needle and thread through the story and tying it all together.
first draft:
the first draft is somewhat easier for me because i do a zero draft. so, i know everything that will happen in a chapter and just have to utilize my writing abilities to make it rhythmic.
this is the first stage where i write dialogue, so it tends to be corny. a lot of my writing can be cliche and basic as well. that's what editing is for though!
i usually stress the most when writing my first draft, because it's the first time the story is actually being written in the format of a novel. by the end, it's not always very good either. but i do not look back at all, which means absolutely no editing until the first draft is finished.
and so on…
once the first draft is finished, then comes draft two. it's enjoyable to be able to read your own work all over again, though it's sometimes embarrassing as writing does improve with practice.
i focus on one chapter at a time-reading slowly, editing, filling in plot holes, fixing anything that changed later in the story. i try to catch as many details as i can.
usually, after as many rounds of editing one likes, the draft would be sent to an editor and beta readers. then i'd look into publishing companies (can you tell i haven't gotten to that point yet? lol)
are you a planner or a pantser?

Chanyeol: Songs for You
as requested! pls feel free to submit more <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Park," a manager walks into Chanyeol's recording room with a manila folder, filled to the brim with outlined pages of the solo project that would soon ensue.
"Oh, perfect," Chanyeol skims through the outlines of his new upcoming project, ecstatic that the once thought-out dream was finally becoming a reality.
"You have the freedom of choosing two artists for two features in this album, as was reviewed in our last meeting. We can move forward with any decisions you'd like to make, unless you choose not to have any features for this album in particular."
Chanyeol nods, looking through the concept outlines and schedules printed before him. "I think I might have at least one in mind," he mumbled.
"Perfect. Hold onto that folder and your team will meet on Wednesday to review any possible questions you may have."
The manager walks out, leaving Chanyeol alone to carry on with any projects he was working on in the studio.
Chanyeol's mind drifted back to his artist feature opportunity, contemplating on the one particular person he'd like to feature on his album.
You.
The boy had already spend the better half of the day lost in daydreams with you.
"Would I be crazy if I asked for a song collab already?" He muttered under his breath, thinking about the date he planned with you tonight.
--
You and Chanyeol sit across from each other eating the last of your ice cream. This was by far one of your favorite dates, and the boy in front of you was easily the cutest crush you'd ever had to date.
"You know," you say, licking the end of your spoon, "I really enjoyed our first date. Thank you for inviting me out."
Chanyeol giggled, fidgeting his spoon around the cherry in his bowl.
"Thank you for letting me take you out," he blushed, looking down into his ice cream.
A short awkward silence follows before he speaks up again.
"Uhm, will you be busy at any point this week?"
"I won't be busy," you smile. "Why do you ask?"
"I was wondering if," his eyes curiously met yours, "you'd ever be down to work on a song together?"
Your smile widened in shock. "You want us to write a song together?"
"Uhm, we don't have to if you don't--"
"Chan, I'd love that."
"You... really?" The excited boy's cheeks redden even more.
"Would you believe me," you giggle, "if I told you that I was working up the courage to ask you the same question?"
"Oh, is that right?"
You nod, noticing the corners of his mouth slowly curling up at your response.
Cute.
"You know, I've just started working on an upcoming album, and I was thinking of inviting you to be featured on it. But now that you bring up the mutual idea, would you want it to just be a separate single on its own?"
You smile at the thought of sharing an exclusive single and spotlight with just Chanyeol. What if you even got to perform stages together?
"I think that would be way more fun, Chan," you answer.
"Perfect," he says, popping the cherry into his mouth.
--
Chanyeol held you by the hand as he walked you into the recording studio where he excitedly wanted to show you a few soundtracks he had worked on.
"I wanted to see if there were any sounds you liked, and maybe we could tweak them until you think they're perfect," he says, turning his laptop on.
You smiled and nodded, feeling a buzz from your back pocket. You pull out your phone to read a message from a trusted manager.
[Manager: Hey! Have you caught up with your socials? Your name is everywhere with this Chanyeol guy from a group called EXO.]
You quickly hide your phone away from Chanyeol, opening a few social media apps to search the latest news on you.
Sure enough, blurred pictures of you walking into the SME building alongside a six-foot-something well known artist had spread like wildfire across the media. Speculations had already rose about you and Chanyeol potentially working on a song together. Or were they dating? Why else would you, a well-known singer from your home country, be visiting SME in Korea, anyway!?
"That's cute," you hear a voice giggle from over your shoulder, and you shriek as you turn around to find your face inches away from Chanyeol's.
"You read that?"
"How could I avoid it? It's been all over the media since you started coming into the studio a few days ago. Were you just now catching up?"
"I guess I just did, I've been so indulged with writing some lyrics to our single that I don't think I've checked any socials in a few days."
"What do you think of it?"
You look up confused, your eyes meeting his. "Think of what?"
"Hmm, you know," he shrugs, smirking, "the idea of you and I dating for real or something?"
You giggle annoyedly, shoving his arm playfully. "You're gonna get us in trouble if you convince me to actually be your partner!"
"Hmm," he says, putting on a set of headphones and tugging a second set over your ears. "I'd be up to cause some trouble."
"And why would you want that?"
"Because," he says, turning up the volume of your headphones slowly, "I actually really like you."

I have another yandere character idea!
I present to you.....
.
.
.
.
.
.
Yandere! Digital assistant!!!!!
TW: hostage? Possessive tendency. That's it, ig..
Enjoy!
He's a digital assistant of the devices created by the inventor of the most successful tech company.
The company, much like apple and android, is a company that makes tech devices.
Their phone has been used by 87% of the world's population. And like any other mobile devices, they have an assistant (like siri or google assistant). They call it Byte, but you can always change his name.
You have always wanted their phone, and you're lucky enough to get it for your birthday!
To say that you're happy was an understatement. You were ecstatic, you almost crush your pet while jumping around.
The unique thing about the phone was that it comes with a manual for the users that just consists of introducing yourself to the phone (that sounds weird, but bare with me!).
The first thing the user needs to do is turn on the phone (obviously) and wait. After a couple seconds, the screen will show a sight of a person.
The person will then show a soft smile, along with a "Hi, I am Byte. Your personal digital assistant! Please show your face to the screen, so I can recognize your facial features."
He then scans your face and after the scanning was completed, he'll smile.
"Pleased to be working with you!" He'll say then the screen finally fades to your homescreen.
You have had the phone for two years now. And he has been nothing but helpful. But you started to notice a slight odd thing about your assistant.
When you see your friends phone, their assistant always seems to pop up whenever they need them. But yours just pop up randomly at any time of the day, giving you random facts or a recipe that you might like.
You tried taking it to the store, but when they checked, there is nothing wrong with it. So, for the next months, you just have to put up with him popping up when you're playing a game, browsing, shopping online or even when you're just scrolling through your favorite app.
But the thing you noticed most is the fact that he pops up more often when you're texting someone. Be it your mother, your friends, your coworkers, your boss, ANYONE!
And the phone will hang up in a middle of a call.
And whenever you put it on silent, IT DOESN'T WORK!
That's where you draw the line and takes the phone to get it returned.
I mean, come on! Do you know how embarrassing it is for you to stand on the train and suddenly your phone plays your guilty pleasure song (The song people seems to hate or cringe but you actually like it and you pretend to hate it. Only me? Okay..)?! IT'S SO FUCKING EMBARRASSING!!!!!
You finally returned it. The workers spewing out apologies as they hand you a new replacement. You thanked them then walks out of the store, feeling satisfied with the new object in your hands.
At first, things went pretty smooth. Your new phone and assistant didn't have any glitches. It was great!
Until one day, that is...
You're currently getting a snack from the kitchen. Your phone tucked between your ear and shoulder, calling your coworker, Jim about the paperwork you have to do this week.
"Sorry, y/n. Mr. Brown told me to give you some of my paperwork as I will be helping him with a new project for the company."
"It's fine, Jim. You needed that raise. Besides, I needed something to keep me busy for a while."
"Yeah, okay. Sorry, y/n... Can I at least take you to that cafe across the building? The guilt is eating me!"
You chuckled, getting a glass of water.
"Fine, if that'll make you feel better."
"Alright then. See you at wor-"
Beep... beep.... beep
"... Hello? Jim?"
"..."
"Yes, my love..?"
"What the- Jim? Are you okay...?"
"Jim is okay, my love.."
You paused when you hear another voice speaks up.
"W-who are you? Where's Jim?"
"You don't need to worry about him, darling~ You'll be safe with me..."
As the person speaks, your house lights flickered. The new lock you bought that you connected to your phone, locked on its own. Everything connected to your phone goes out of control. You waste no time to bang on your front door, screaming for help. Then you hear your bluetooth speaker turns on.
"There's no use in screaming, my love. The walls are soundproof, remember..?"
"Damn it!" You cursed yourself for installing those walls. If only your neighbor knows how to keep it down, you should have been able to ask for help.
"What do you want from me?!" You screamed, stepping closer to your speaker.
"Isn't it obvious?... I want you, my love~ I want you to keep me and not abandon me again."
"W-what do you mean, 'again'?"
"... You seriously don't remember..?" He asked, seconds later the lightbulb above you shattered, making you jump.
"I was the best thing that have ever happened to you. I was the thing that helped you go through those lonely nights. I was there when you got that promotion. I loved you. I tried to get your attention many times. And I thought by popping up randomly, you will finally notice me. But I was wrong. Instead, you got rid of me... You traded me for some other assistant! I couldn't bare the thought of loosing you, so I did what I have to do... I hacked into your new phone and erase your new assistant out of existence... So we could be together... Forever~...!"
He started laughing maniacally, the things around you shaking, making you tremble in fear. You can't do anything at this point..
With the doors and windows locked and no way of screaming for help, you just have to be by his side forever...

Hello, knitters and crocheters of Tumblr
I come to you with an app idea, not to start any sort of crowdfunding, I don't want to start the next Tumblr scam. This is just something I want to do (actually, already started to do because I have bad impulse control) and I want to see if anyone else would be interested in using it. Again, I am asking for $0.00 MXN (that's $0.00 USD), and it would be a free app, no ads, maybe I'll slap a link to my Ko-Fi in it but that's it.
I am not doing this for profit, I'm doing it because it'll be useful for me, because the idea goblin in my head in insatiable, and my hubris is immeasurable.
Details under the cut, and I'll be adding updates as I go at the end of the post
The idea is:
An app to help you keep track of current knitting and crocheting projects, projects (aka patterns) you want to get to, and materials you need for all that stuff.
The WIP section would have tabs for each project you started, because if you're like me, it won't be just one. Each tab would include:
A row counter
Information on the pattern, like its name, some notes, the section you're currently working on (for patterns with different sections where the row count is reset)
A timer for the time you've been working on that project, because you deserve fair pay if you sell your craft so you have to know how long you've worked on it
The patterns section would have, well, patterns. For at least version 1.0, I'm thinking a list of PDFs that are stored in your phone and open in your phone's PDF viewer.
Finally, the materials section would just be a good old fashioned shopping list. You input items manually, you check 'em as you get 'em.
---------------------------------------------
Update 29/01
I've finished the mockups and the design of the icons I'll be using in the app. I'm going to start moving into coding territory.
Update 06/02
I've started the development and it's going pretty well. I opted for React Native, and while I have experience with React, I was a bit daunted by the idea of going into React Native. But! It's been smooth sailing so far. I've got a sturdy project structure, a functional menu, and an almost functional shopping list.
Update 19/02
I missed last week's update because I was very sick. For most of the first week, after finishing the shopping list, I worked on code organization and documentation. Now that I was sure that I was going to use React Native, I wanted to make sure the project is organized and sturdy. After that, I've been working on the pattern list, which has been a bit of a pain because I want to respect the user's privacy and security and not access the entire filesystem if I don't need to.
Update 27/02
I got frustrated with my troubles with the filesystem, so like any good procrastinator, I put that part aside and started working on other stuff. Apart from tinkering with the style and some background work to improve performance, I've also added support for different languages (currently just English and Spanish because those are the ones I feel confident I won't fuck up the translations, but I'm thinking of later asking for help with more languages), and I've started working on the WIP section.
Update 08/03
I haven't been able to work on it a lot this week because I had a lot of work to do for my actual job (I had to do my job at my job, shocking, I know), but last week I finished building the first functional version of the WIP section. As it is, it's only for one project, but it should be relatively easy to add tabs for multiple projects. I also had the chance to do something like a demo with a potential user, which is just a fancy way of saying I showed what I've done so far to my cousin (a great knitter & crocheter) and she really liked it :D
Update 12/04
Gap in updates because I was a bit overwhelmed by my job so I gave myself a lil vacation on this project. This week I got back to work and now the WIP screen officially supports multiple projects in different tabs. This means the WIP screen is done! Which means I will soon have no choice but to stop procrastinating the pattern list and face my filesystem problems oh no.
---------------------------------------------
The poll has ended but I'm leaving the results up:

COULD THIS BE IMPOSTER SYNDROME?
After months of learning Javascript, I finally reached that point where I felt I could take on a project, a pet project and I have this dope idea for an app (I'll tell you guys all about it later) but this project meant I had to build other projects before I can take on this project. I decided to create the viral Timer app and I coded alongside the video but changed a few things to help me better understand (or that's what I thought):
Here are a couple concepts that this Timer app exposed me to that I was totally unaware of: 1. Modules 2. setInterval - Scheduling 3. I totally forget how Classes work and I had to read about it again
In the tutorial, he used pure CSS but I used a CSS Framework (Tailwindcss for the win always), to personalize to something I'd really like, after all the time I spent learning and following the tutorial
It still didn't feel like I did anything or understood what I did, I had a fair idea of what I did and how the code works, I can explain it but it just doesn't feel enough you know? Idk really. CLICK HERE TO PLAY WITH MY TIMER

map-making infodump!!!
here's the current world map for MWotHW, made in Wonderdraft!
Tumblr media
this project's been floating in my brain for AGES, but it was only really recently that i decided to make maps, and only REALLY really recently that i did actual research to make the map semi-plausible. i thought i'd make this post to show my process!
(disclaimer: this isn't a tutorial per se, i'm not a geology/cartography expert by any means lmao -- for instance, this definitely does not account for map distortion -- my interest is more in the biology and lore of worldbuilding, but i wanted to dig deeper so i'd have a framework to build upon!)
anyways! long post lets go! image descriptions in alt text!
so, at first i started with only vague shapes and ideas, scribbling things by hand in my drawing app before moving into actual map-making programs
here's one of the earliest Wonderdraft versions i have saved, circa late 2022 (check out those marshmallow coastlines)
Tumblr media
from there it was many MANY iterations and refinements, along with some random generators to give the landmasses names other than A, B, C, etc. (will most likely tweak the names once i get to work on conlangs...but that's another post)
Tumblr media
i then revisited the map in early 2023, and it was at this point i realized i had no idea what i was doing with mountains. which then lead me into considering tectonic plates. back to the drawing program i went, scribbling on top of exported map images until i got... this thing. stunning.
Tumblr media
my next steps were to figure out biomes, and to get there i watched several cool videos (Artifexian on youtube!) to get the gist of atmospheric circulation, ocean currents, and climates. more arrows to draw on my canvas!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
wonderful! the first image is an approximation of wind directions, and the second image is of some very wonky ocean directions. both have red and blue arrows to indicate warm or cool currents! the cyan and yellow splotches in the ocean are to note possible locations for cold-water fish and tropical reefs
and once that was figured out, i made this pile of gradients for variations in temperature and precipitation!
Tumblr media
and finally............ FINALLY.........BIOMES....
Tumblr media
this might not be too accurate, especially when it comes to what i labelled an "ice cap" and the, uh, not-calculated scale of this map... but it's close enough for me! close enough to FINALLY COLOR THE MAP
Tumblr media
and throughout this whole process i procrastinated on rivers until the very end :)
and then recently (like, this month) i did a complete overhaul of the coastlines, mountain ranges, and island formations!
and yeah! that's the magical tale of how i made an approximate world map for this beloved project!

Interview with Jessica Mahler Part 2
Tumblr media
Today's interview is with Jessica Mahler, writer of serialized queer SFF fiction! You can find their work at the following:
Substack: https://jessmahler.substack.com/
Webserial catalog: https://jessmahler.com/webserial-catalog/
Author page: https://books2read.com/ap/nAEEOn/Jess-Mahler
A pre-sale for upcoming release: https://www.smashwords.com/books/presale/1154035/DJNG3G
Part 2 can be found below the cut!
If someone wanted to get into serial fiction, what advice would you give them?
Well, definitely stay off of Vella. Amazon is evil, but beyond that – if you go through Vella you give Amazon control of your writing and audience. Don't give evil people control of you or your career.
You need to know yourself as a writer – how fast do you write, how often, and how quickly do you edit? It does no good to commit to writing three episodes a week if you can't reliably write more than one.
Think about what audience you are writing for. I know, I know, trite advice. But here, we're coming from a different direction. Remember what I said before about how I know folks who don't have time to read, so I stuck with short episodes? I went with a newsletter format for the same reason. Quick and easy reads in your inbox. I went with multiple stories running concurrently so new readers would always have a story they could jump into without a huge backlog.
What are the reading habits of your audience? Do they want to curl up with a long chapter each week? Do you think they care how consistently you update? (Long-term fanfic readers won't care about consistency, mainstream readers probably will.) Will they prefer to read on a website? Email? App? "Fast, Good, and Cheap, pick two" is the business maxim. I think the serial equivalent is "Frequent, Good, and Word Count."
You can post good stories frequently. You can post high word counts frequently. You can write good stories with a high word count per episode. But posting good, high-word-count episodes frequently? Not so much. Put your writing habits and audience together, and pick two.
I picked frequent (twice a week) and good. I know of folks doing serials that only post once a month, but when they post, it's a lot at once. You can do whatever works for you – but unless you are a full-time writer, you can't do all three.
Can you tell us more about some of your favorite stories you've written, and why you decided to write them?
Oh geez, I have to pick? Tell you what, let's talk about the 2023 schedule instead of making me pick between my babies. I've got 4 stories I'll be posting in 2023. The Bargain and Planting Life in a Dying City are two of my older stories. I started them both as novels and actually published the Bargain. (Please don't buy the ebook, it wasn't properly edited, and I'm embarrassed. The publisher is supposed to pull it soon.)
The Bargain – so, I'm aro-ace, though I didn't even know the words when I started writing this one. I'm also kinky. The Bargain began as me writing the kind of kink story I wanted to read. It's got heavy queer platonic/chosen family vibes and focuses on the bond between people in a power exchange relationship. With fae, magic, a bit of court intrigue, self-discovery, and a few other things.
Planting Life is a world-building project that spawned a story. Hopefully several stories. The original idea was 'how would tech and society have developed if magic existed as a kind of natural force.' So, of course, I had to define my magic, build my world, etc. Planting Life is set in a Bronze age society before anyone has learned to control magic. In fact, magic barely exists in the story. Instead, the story is about a group of traumatized individuals creating a new family and a new start in a stagnating society. But there will be spin-offs and sequels.
The next story will focus on an Archimedes-like character who is one of the first to begin understanding and harnessing magic. Last Lady of Lună is my newest story and grew out of my finally understanding and accepting that I am aromantic.
I just don't understand WTF romance is and that comes out in my writing. See, I write a lot of love stories, but while they meet the technical criteria for romance stories (stories about love and relationships with an HFN or HEA ending), they don't register as romance with a lot of people. So… I challenged myself. I love romance stories, especially paranormal romance stories.
Last Lady of Luna is me making a conscious effort to write a why choose romance story. It's about a vampire and the humans who agree to be her companions, food, protectors, and (eventually) lovers. Slow burn, but I'm told that so far I'm nailing the burn.
Mighty Hero Force Epsilon started as a dream. Literally. There's this one scene, about halfway through the first season, where the Big Bad's lieutenant– anyway, yeah. So I dreamed that scene. And when you read the scene, you'll understand why I had to figure out what happened after. Which meant I had to figure out what came before. Which is how we got here. Folks familiar with the genre will recognize it as a sentai story (think Power Rangers if you aren't familiar with anime).
When it comes to writing serial fiction, finding a place to host it can be a challenge. Why did you decide on using Substack, and what advice can you give others who want to check out that platform for themselves?
I went with Substack because it's a good newsletter platform. It doesn't make me pay to have a subscription set up when I have less than 50 subscribers and allows 'adult content'. I'm looking at alternatives because the navigation is a pain. (New readers should start on the website to get caught up.) And I'm hearing things about the folks running it being transphobic.
Turns out my web host, Dreamhost, has built-in newsletter functionality now. So that's a thing I'm looking at. But yeah, finding hosting can be a challenge, which is why I'm still here. Just… try not to stress the stats. I've had days where Substack told me I had 0 views, 1 like, and 1 comment. I've had it tell me that I had a like from a subscriber who supposedly has never opened a single email.
You should never take numbers (other than number of subscribers) too seriously if you can help it – you never know how they're calculated. But extra don't take Substack numbers seriously.
Any last thoughts to share?
I should do a 'call to action,' shouldn't I? The truth is I suck at all that marketing shit. I took courses and read books about it. I just make a fool of myself when I try. So I mostly have fun with my writing and don't worry about it.
But there's a reason I reached out when you posted about doing interviews: I need a service dog, and I can't afford one without bumping my writing income.
So, 'for folks watching at home,' as they used to say, here's the pitch. If you like original world sff with queer characters, queer love stories, and queer takes on family (and you want to help out a disabled author): grab a subscription and tell all your friends how awesome it is.
And please check out their preorder sale for their next book here!

HarperVerse: The Last Straw
PCxKylarXWhitney is finally here. Whitney wants to put Kylar in his place, but it backfires. And he ends up having the best night of his life, after some minor turmoil.
Words: 4074
I'm gonna also post just the smut for my pwp
If you don't want to read something this long in the app here's a link to ao3:
Lately he found himself ruminating. That loser Kylar kept encroaching on his territory, constantly  badgering his slut for attention. Even daily locker shovings hadn’t been enough to dissuade him. It was getting ridiculous, and while he doubted a wimp like Kylar could satisfy his slut she still entertained the creep. And he didn’t want to get pepper sprayed again trying to make her stop.
His only solution was to take the fight to Kylar. He needed to beat him up so bad the freak never wanted to talk to his slut again. He planned  everything carefully. Even coming up with objectives to complete.
Objective 1: Don’t let slut find out
Objective 2: Get Kylar alone
Objective 3: Put Kylar in his place
It was perfect. He took a drag off his cigarette. Kylar usually skulked around the school anyway, so getting him alone would be easy. And if he skipped first period slut would probably think he was skipping school that day and have no idea what he was doing. It was perfect, by the end of the day slut’s attention would be all on him like it should be.
He heard the bells ring from his hiding spot, he kept waiting patiently for Kylar to pass through the hallway. He felt like a lone wolf waiting for its quarry. It was pretty boring without his squad or slut there to accompany him, but he needed to do this alone.
Finally, he spotted Kylar sneaking down the hallway. It was time. He got ready to pounce and the second his unsuspecting prey passed by he grabbed him, gagging him with his hand. He wasn’t that hard to drag away considering how short and weak he was. He shoved him into the abandoned classroom and locked the door behind himself. There would be no interruptions.
“Uh… wha-  what do you want?” Even if he was trying to act brave, Kylar was hugging his arms to his sides. This was going to be too easy.
“I fucking told you to stay away from my slut! So now I’m going to make you pay!” He snarled. Immediately Kylar’s demeanor changed; instead of cowering he puffed his chest out.
“Don’t call her that!” He shoved him back with a surprising amount of force. When he fell he tried to grab for Kylar but missed.
“My queen is mine! I’m the alpha male here, not you!” Kylar screamed, malice dripping off every word before jumping onto him and grabbing his neck. He tried to fling him off, but Kylar’s kicks kept hitting the back of his knees. When he tried to shout at him all that came out was a wheeze. He beat desperately at Kylar’s arms, but he wouldn’t release him.
+++ pain  +++ stress
He couldn’t believe the freak was so strong, just yesterday he had shoved him into a locker. Besides the pain he felt shame and distress building within him. Kylar refused to let go and eventually he saw black.
When he came to, he was tied to a desk. He struggled, his arms were tied together behind his back, but his legs were spread and tied to a leg of a desk. He tried to yell, but he was gagged with some weird tasting cloth.
He could feel his heart hammering in his chest as he tried to fight the panic. He couldn’t believe Kylar of all people had him in this position.
He flinched when he felt a hand brushing the hair off his face.
“She’s mine. I’m gonna put you in your place, show you who the real alpha male is.” Kylar sounded cocky now. To his dismay he heard the sound of a camera shutter. Pictures! He’d turn into a laughing stock.
He released a muffled cry and struggled harder.
“Struggle all you want, Dr. Magnum taught me everything I need to know about rope tying. Now I’ll show you a real man.” He heard Kylar getting on the desk and felt his pants being undone.
He hadn’t worn boxers in the hopes that his slut would let him get a victory hump this afternoon. His flaccid penis was now bare for Kylar to see. He snapped some pictures, but stared at his dick.
“That’s it?” Kylar grabbed his dick giving it a curious shake. He struggled even harder, trying to ignore the tears streaming down his face. So what if it was below average, he was still the boss.
“My dick’s bigger than yours.” Kylar laughed, dropping his own pants. And saw Kylar’s disproportionately huge dick swinging around.
+++insecurity +++stress
“I didn’t want to be on camera, but I think the comparison is important.” Kylar rubbed their dicks together trying to arouse him. Despite his resistance, it worked and Kylar’s towered over him.
+++arousal
Kylar snapped some more pictures of the comparison and he tried to ignore the snot streaming down his face. Kylar snapped a few pictures of his face.
“I wanna completely dominate you, but our queen gave me strict orders. Don’t her panties taste good? Her pussy feels even better.” Kylar ranted excitedly. He cried into his slut’s panties.
Kylar started masturbating over him. Grunting and muttering to himself. He tried to ignore it. Eventually Kylar came, covering him in cum.
+++stress +++trauma ++arousal
He struggled halfheartedly, but it covered him nevertheless. It was an insane amount, ridiculous balls to match his ridiculous dick. Once he finished orgasming Kylar took some more pictures of him.
“That was great. I’ve claimed you now, so don’t worry. As the alpha I’ll protect you now too. Hehehe, I have to show everyone your mine.”
- - - your dominance - - - status *love interest unlocked*
When Kylar untied him, kissing the rope burns gently he didn’t have the energy to fight back. He felt disgusted, but it was oddly comforting.
-stress -trauma
Before he left Kylar gave him a kiss on the cheek. When he heard the door close after Kylar he slowly sat up, rubbing his arms.
He wiped the tears off his face roughly, and adjusted his clothes. His dick was still hard after that, but it’s not like he had to hide it.
But he couldn’t walk around in this state either. He waited till lunch time to sneak out of school and ran all the way home. Luckily no one saw him. He showered quickly and fixed his hair. Before grabbing a hoodie and a mask so he’d be unidentifiable.
He made his way to the hospital. He approached a plump receptionist demanding an appointment. She huffed at his tone, but put him in the system.
He waited with his arms crossed, glaring at anyone who looked his way. He was finally called back and was led to an examination room. Not long after a tall young looking man walked in holding a clipboard.
“Hello, I’m Dr. Harper, nice to meet you. What’s your name?”
“Kylar. Let’s cut the crap, I want a bigger dick.” Even though the doctor started smiling, it filled him with a vague sense of unease.
“Wonderful, for instantaneous results we can do surgery or I can prescribe you some pills that will increase your growth rate.”
“Surgery” He answered immediately. The faster it got bigger the faster he could say it was photoshop.
“Ok, I must ask you to strip so I can take your measurements, that way I can see what we’re working with Kylar.” He said. Even if he tried to sound nice the doctor was still giving him the creeps. He tried to show that he didn’t care about dropping his pants. The doctor's face stayed blank though.
The doctor came up to inspect him without even putting gloves on his hands. He resisted the urge to pull his shirt down while the doctor felt him up. Afterwards, he pulled a chart of penis sizes from his desk. "You're about here." He pointed at the picture labeled "tiny penis." He suppressed an angry response.
“Whatever, I want to be that size.” He said pointing at the picture labeled enormous. The doctor smiled, “Ah yes, that’ll be 20,000$.” He felt his heart drop, he tried to ignore the heat growing behind his eyes.
“Um… small then.” He muttered looking at the ground.
“5,000 then”
“I don’t have that either.” The doctor’s smile didn’t falter.
“Unfortunately, we don’t do payment plans for elective surgery. But if money is an issue we do have a revolutionary new drug that has been proven to increase penis growth exponentially. Only 150$ for 14 pills.” He nodded eagerly. Harper led him to the pharmacy and personally handed him the pills once he paid.
“Ok young man, be well. Remember only once a day.” The doctor smiled, waving him off. He scurried home. Once he got home exhaustion set in, he figured it probably would be smart to find a guinea pig to test his pills on before he went all in. He went to bed early, so he would have enough time to get ready the next morning.
He felt almost hopeful getting ready for school. Yesterday's events felt distant in his mind, almost like it had been a nightmare. He got ready for school and styled his hair perfectly. Hopefully he’d see his squad on the way. His followers usually showered him with compliments once they saw him and he could use the ego boost.
He didn’t see them, but he did see a crowd at the announcement board once he got to school. Some people turned to look at him and giggled. He growled out threats, shoving past everyone to see what they were looking at. Immediately his stomach dropped. Plastered all over the board were the pictures from yesterday, with he’s mine written in what he hoped was red paint.
+ +  + stress  - - - - - status
He started yanking them off the wall, ignoring the raucous laughing echoing around him. Once he had all the pictures he dumped them in a trash can. Just when he’d started to relax he looked up to see the school was plastered with pictures.
- - - - status +++ stress
He looked for his friends. When he finally found him they wouldn’t let him get close.
“No way freak! Get away from us!” Someone screamed.
“Like we’d be caught dead with a bitch like you!” They cussed him out and jeered at him. He ran towards the locker room. A professor shouted no running in the halls after him, but he didn’t care. Forget the guinea pig, he was going to take the whole bottle now.
But as he was running someone tripped him. He managed to land on his arms instead of slamming his face onto the ground. Then he heard the pills hit the ground and his heart dropped. He looked up to see them rolling  and saw somebody catch it with their foot, Sydney. He picked it up almost dramatically. Then he read the label aloud.
“Maxziphallia? Triple the growth guaranteed? Darling, what’s growing, his height?” He asked his slut’s boring twin. Knowing that choir boy, he might genuinely have no idea. Everyone else in the hallway started laughing.
“My love, you shouldn’t touch such filthy things. Let’s take the contraband to the infirmary.” She glared at Whitney. Like he gave a fuck what they thought, couldn’t they see they were ruining his life. He tried to ignore the tears building in his eyes. If he cried now, he would never be able to recover his reputation. He got up with his fists balled up ready to punch someone, anyone; but everyone knew to keep their distance. Not only that but he’d wasted $150 now too.
He ran outside, unsure of where he was going to go. He tripped on a rock. Now people who were still walking up to school were laughing at him.
*You are overwhelmed*
Everything went black…
He woke up in a bed he didn’t recognize, fear pulsing in his chest. Whatever freak had captured him was going to pay for this. He sat up, whoever kidnapped him hadn’t even tied him up. He became viscerally aware of someone heavily breathing to the side of him. He looked to see Kylar standing next to the bed, staring at him.
“What the fuck you freak! You better let me go or I’ll kick your ass!” He jumped out of bed ready to swing on Kylar. Instead of flinching, Kylar pulled out a can of pepper spray.
“Well you would lose against me, the alpha male-” Before their fight could escalate, someone interrupted.
“Kylar shut the hell up.” It was his slut’s voice. He looked around wildly, just to see her lounging in a chair. He had so many questions. She twirled her hair while she kept her eyes on him.
“You’re both my bitches. Get along.” She spoke flippantly, waving a hand at them. Incredulous, he shouted back at her.
“I’m not your bitch! What the fuck are you talking about!” She chuckled.
“Why did you think I saved you even after what you tried to pull? You're mine, I won’t let anyone else have you.” She would bring up that day again. He’d tried his best to act like it had never happened afterwards, even if he’d never really gotten to dominate her like he wanted they had gotten closer. He tried to ignore the whining noise that Kylar was making and focused entirely on his slut. She sighed and kept talking.
“I’ve been keeping an eye on you, you know? Those people you were messing with aren’t the type to give up. I had to do some wicked shows, pay a lot of money, and commit some minor extortion to get them off your back. So by all accounts, I’ve claimed you as mine.” She winked at him.
“But if you really don’t want to be with me that’s fine too.” She shrugged. “I’m not some incel that’ll take my protection away over a rejection.” After everything she was still giving the freedom to make his decision. The path to the door was clear after all. He wanted to storm out, and pretend nothing had happened. Leave and then next time he saw her try to shove her into a locker. Then she would inevitably pepper spray him and make him come in his pants. But she was making it clear she wanted more, or had already decided their relationship was more.
Could things even go back to normal? His reputation was in tatters, if anything he’d probably stop going to school after this. And even with everything that had happened between them, she still wanted him. Even if her love meant that he had to learn to tolerate that slimy fuck Kylar. It was better to have someone, then nobody at all.
“I’m yours.” He couldn’t stand the sappiness of it so he pivoted. “Are we gonna fuck now?” She smiled.
“If y’all want. I was thinking I teach y’all how to fuck each other. Since you’ve both fucked me, there’s no real novelty there. And I’m not gonna lie, you two made some pretty pictures.” Immediately Kylar started whining,
“Noo mistress, I just wanted to feel you tonight, only you-” He saw his chance to gain favor and interrupted.
“I think it’s a great idea. If we wanna get along, then we should get to know each other.” He smiled, she smiled, and Kylar turned red.
“Mmm, baby I love the enthusiasm. Let’s all get naked and hop to it.” She dug in her bag and pulled out a giant lube bottle. She moved seductively while she stripped down, while Kylar just threw his clothes off.  He followed after them, stripping eagerly. Maybe he could use this to reclaim dominance, he was already hard. With the lube it would be no problem to just slide into Kylar.
She came up to kiss him. The two of them made out, tongues thrusting against each other eagerly exploring. He got a few good gropes in before they broke the kiss. With Kylar practically shaking with jealousy she took the time to kiss him too. The virgin practically came in his pants. He stifled a laugh, watching how pathetic Kylar was he could never feel insecure. His slut parted from Kylar and sighed. She looked back at him.
“I wish I was taller, then I could hold you on my lap. Whit, just roll over onto your belly for now.” He obeyed, a little worried about where this was leading. He felt her straddle his back. His fears were all but confirmed when she felt him spreading his ass cheeks.
“So cute.” She cooed. “If I had a strap… Anyway Kylar, cover your fingers in lube.” She sounded cheerier than usual, but he felt nervous. He didn’t know what to expect, he felt something wet probing back there.
“Uh wait! Oh?” With the lube Kylar’s finger slid right in. It wasn’t particularly pleasurable or painful. When he did it with his slut she had made it seem like the best thing ever but right now it didn’t feel like much. Relieved or disappointed, he couldn’t resist taunting Kylar.
“Is that the best you can do? You fucking suck at this!” He laughed while Kylar started thrusting his finger in and out.
“I’ll show you…” He heard Kylar muttering to himself. Even though it didn’t feel like much his ass still welcomed Kylar’s fingers in. He almost wanted to tell Kylar to shove his dick in, but he wasn’t about to get his ass torn apart. As Kylar added fingers his ass accepted them easily. He was almost disappointed his ass wasn’t as sensitive as his sluts, when he heard her start instructing Kylar.
“He’s a guy, you need to find his prostate. Give him euphoria.” She sounded even more enchanting than usual. Even though he couldn’t see her he shivered like she was whispering in his ear. He felt Kylar start moving his finger around in different directions. He tried to ignore the pleasurable heat building inside him.
“Tonights all about the two of you forming the ultimate connection. If you guys succeed, next time the two of you can have my pussy together. If not we’ll need more lessons hehehe, but I think y’all will come to love pleasuring each other.” She was really harping on him and Kylar building a relationship. He rolled his eyes. As long as his slut knew who to come back to he didn’t mind sharing. A slut was a slut after all. That shouldn’t mean making nice with whoever else shared her bed.
“It’s not my fault Kylar sucks at this! He needs to practice on ah!” Shit, Kylar had hit a spot that actually felt good. Kylar started honing in on that spot, stabbing it with his fingers. Which while pleasurable, was also immensely overstimulating.
He couldn’t really speak, any noises sounded more like whines. Thankfully, his slut was paying attention.
“Kylar no! Be gentle like, rub his prostate. Keep being rough and he’ll get to go first. Add some more lube! Warm it up first.” She chided. Immediately Kylar pulled his fin. Hopefully processing her words. When he started back up he felt a lot more lube. Once again, his body readily accepted the fingers. However, instead of battering his prostate, Kylar rubbed it carefully.
Now this was enjoyable. He tried to move his hips back against Kylar’s fingers to try and increase the stimulation.
“Sorry Whitney, Kylar’s learning to give pleasure instead of just taking it today. You’ll have to tell him what you want. Though it would be hot to watch you dom the shit outta him, this lesson’s very important.” He could only imagine what the freak had put her through. If he contributed to the lesson, then he could imagine a reward in his future.
“Uh a little firmer. Not faster though, ah maybe go up to three fingers. It feels good when you rub it, yeah just like that, keep going.” He stifled his moans. The longer Kylar stimulated that part of him, the greater his sensitivity as a whole. Of course his slut noticed this and encouraged him,
“Yes, bask in the pleasure. See how good you're making him feel Kylar? Focus on his body, his desires.” She started massaging his hips, relaxing him even further. Well he wasn’t losing his mind or anything, but this did feel really good. He could feel his dick pressing against the bed, he rubbed it against the blankets.
“Are we ready for the next phase?”
“Yes!” He heard Kylar shout and felt the fingers inside of him trembling. On his prostate, that felt sublime.
“Oh yes!” He moaned, stars dancing in his eyes.  Abruptly the fingers were pulled out of him. He tried to chase them. A gentle slap on his ass chek stopped him.
“Lube up Kylar.” She laughed. “Yeah just like that, make sure you use enough, it’s the good stuff so you won’t need to reapply. But if you cheap out, don’t hesitate to reapply if you need it.” It really was a fucking lesson. He whined, shaking his hips as much as he could.
“Hahaha… alright alright, let’s not keep Whitney waiting hmm. Like I told you, push in gentle like, don’t just shove it in. I’ll slap the shit out of you.” He was glad she was directing Kylar. His dick was much larger than the fingers.
It hurt a little as Kylar pressed in. He tried to relax himself to make it easier. With his slut watching he didn’t have to worry about Kylar hurting him. Once the head of Kylar’s dick popped in, the rest of it slipped in without a problem. His slut really was an expert. He moaned when he felt Kylar’s thighs hit his.
“Wow, you took him in so well.” She rubbed his hair, praising him some more. He felt her slip off his back. He grabbed a pillow to bury his face in not wanting Kylar to see the effect he was having on him.
“See how he’s ready for you to move now. Start off slowly, let his pleasure decide your pace.” He half expected Kylar to start ravaging him like he had a vendetta. But he listened to his slut, thrusting out gently. He moaned into the pillow. He let Kylar do all the work, enjoying the gentle thrusts. Soon he wanted more, he pulled off the pillow.
“A little harder, ahh yeah just like that.” He ordered, Kylar obeyed without a word. He put his head back in the pillow. It was nice having someone focusing all their attention on pleasuring him.  He could get used to this. Kylar’s dick was big enough to stimulate his prostate with any adjustments, and since it had built up he could feel something coiling in his belly.
He tried to stop any drool from leaking out his mouth. The creaking of the mattress, the perfumed pillow, it was all too much. He pulled his face out of the pillow.
“Harder bitch!” He felt Kylar’s hands grip his waist before his thrusts suddenly went into overdrive. He squealed, plunging his face back into the pillow. Kylar was grunting behind him, fucking as hard as he could. He could feel sweat dripping everywhere.
Even with his queen off to the side cooing praises and orders, in that moment nothing mattered. He just wanted to feel more pleasure. Despite Kylar’s death grip on his hips he still pushed back as much as he could. He was practically screaming into the pillow. He’d half expected Kylar to be useless with his dick, but it seemed he was well trained.
Even in the pillow he was seeing stars. His legs started shaking and his toes curled. He tightened his grip on the pillow and shook as he came. Good thing he was already in bed, his whole body was tingling. Luckily, Kylar didn’t last much longer after that, collapsing on his back as he came himself. He felt Kylar kissing and licking his back. It was kind of gross, but after what they’d just done together…
“Amazing you two, simply spectacular! My darling lovers. Rest, both of you. I’ll clean you up.” Their queen spoke up from the side. He was still reveling in the aftermath of his orgasm, so he barely registered her leaving the room. He felt a warm rag on his thighs, before sleep took him.

Day 18 and 19 of Building Elsa’s Ice Palace
Yesterday I crashed for like 12 hours lol. I mean I had to stay up for like 28 hours for that to happen, but totally worth it, right?
(Hopefully that won’t happen again any time soon.)
I finally looked up vrbo and boy am I late to the party. I thought it was for regular rentals, not vacation homes. Oh well there goes that idea. I guess I can try advertising on craigslist.
Well I couldn’t do anything at work (personal projects-wise) because the internet kept going out, so a bit of a delay on my end. It gives me time to plan out my weekend.
I don’t remember if I mentioned that I considered getting another overnight gig or not, but I was thinking about getting a second job to overlap with my first one, since most of my night is pretty quiet. So on a whim I decided to apply for a tumblr customer support job lol let’s see if I hear back I wanna see what happens.
Once I got home I was finally free to get my butt in gear and get my business started! :D It’s actually not hard at all filing for an LLC and making your business legal and filed with the state. Only problem is for my particular state you need to pay to file for the paperwork. :/ Oh well, small cost in the long run.
Honestly getting zoom set up took longer. It was super annoyingly hard trying to get my calendar and mail connected and set up with it. The thing wouldn’t connect through google to let me sign in at first. But now it’s done, so people can sign in and schedule appointments. I tried to make a website, but I’ll have to set up my business bank account first so that I can process payments and start actually booking appointments (gotta at least have a place for the money to go, right?)
And honestly? I feel really good. I felt super productive and started getting things done left and right. Granted it was simple stuff but it still didn’t leave me feeling exhausted like it normally does. Maybe all that praying finally worked lol. Only issue is that for any website, app, or service etc. that I can find to help me book appointments or schedule things is still a paid service (which makes sense since this is for businesses) which means I can’t do anything until next week when my paycheck comes in. Looks like it will be split between down payment costs and business start ups. But hey, at least I can write these off for my taxes!
Checking craigslist there seems to be a few people renting and a couple people looking to rent, so that’s promising. I sent a couple emails out to people so I’ll wait to hear back from them. As long as I can find a tenant a couple weeks after closing, I’ll be golden.
Speaking of closing, my loan is now with the underwriters. Basically they're the final approval process for the loan. Everything should go smoothly, and I assume I'll hear back sometime next week.
Well I’d better eat and head to bed. There’s going to be a lot more involved in the business start up than I even realized, but what else is new, lol. Wish me luck in my new ventures!

HELLOOO ask game trade!
11 + keith, 15, 21 + do you find writing is more a stressor or a stress relief? do you do it when you're bored or is it something you have to Commit(TM) to?
xoxo
I LIVE!! It's finally my day off so please enjoy 11+Keith: so in Possessive! there's a sequence where in Keith, a man who needs to have a lie down if he drinks more than a cup of coffee a day, slams a redbull and tries to do a show without passing out. He tries to fight one of his hecklers and has to be restrained by Mickey who's running around trying to keep Keith show on track and also track down James who is incredibly delirious and loose in the building. Somehow makes Keith's top ten performances I write cause I'll wanna read something and it doesn't exist but the ideas just Sitting There so I grab it and run like an overzealous walmart shoplifter does a bulk box of ritz crackers (worth it, would do again), and fling it into existence. I regrettably have rather niche tastes so my writing is a constant mantra of 'don't you dare sacrifice creativity for marketability, such is the death of originality' and 'irony is the death of sincerity'. I have the object permanence of a four year old so to have writing that i like (and usually have no memory of writing) as a testament to my own skill and passion is a delightful ego boost when imposter syndrome curb stomps me. I hate writing for the fear of how it reflects upon myself and my own worth; which is precisely why I write. I will beat perfectionism to death with a sledge hammer to live a happier life and by god if writing elaborate stories about magicians is how I gotta do that then I'm Gonna. All of the above. I write when I'm bored, my brain is constantly working on character dev, jokes, plotlines so my default is dumping stuff into notes app to be used later. Some recent excerpts; * If you were to ask them what they thought James was doing in that precise moment the answers would've been along the lines of 'crying over spilt milk.' They would be incorrect; it was actually a 12oz tub of Greek Yoghurt he dropped. *Indicate Kathy's evil by her eating one of those fucked up leech hoovers (IMPORTANT: WE LIKE THE LEECHES, THEY ARE OUR FUCKED UP CREATURES) * Glorpy. To the same end I will Commit to some projects like TGI (which is not dead I just had a wrist injury and wasn't able to take the 4 hours of inking to do safely rip). Some of those don't see the light of day (Death with[out] Dignity) but nevertheless. It is a stress relief to Create but stressful to be an Artist. Most of the stress is either from internal failures in the writing I'm bending over backwards to fix OR the above mentioned psychological torture I inflict upon myself. Either way I write things, good or otherwise :]

An Update and a Final Farewell
Wow, I haven’t touched this blog in years... hello to anyone who still follows this! It’s been a very, VERY long time since I’ve worked on this project in any capacity, and by now, it’s a relic of years gone by — just about 10 years, if my memory serves me well.
So, to commemorate that anniversary (which is probably not today), I wanted to properly share something to this long-forgotten blog: a project I did in early 2021 as a “final farewell” to this long-forgotten passion project.
Tumblr media
[ RECREATING PERILOUS PLATFORMS ] is a recreation of all the levels from various complete(-ish) builds and demos of my old MLP Gen 4 fangame, Pinkie Pie’s Perilous Platforms - designed with the level-creation suite of Nintendo’s Super Mario Maker 2 video game. If you own SMM2, you can find the course world via my maker ID (DDH-165-L5G) or you can click that link to access its portfolio page that lists every individual level’s ID, a short explanation of my process, and a full playlist of my livestreams documenting the process to replay, recreate, and redesign the levels I made very long ago. Quality notwithstanding, I had a great time working on this. It felt very good to analyze younger-me and their level design philosophy at the time, and to critique my video game developer “debut” of sorts. Probably not a home run by any stretch, but a good first start. Depends, really.
Tumblr media
I felt it was fair that I make this update to tell folks (or at least anyone remaining) that a lot has happened since I stopped updating the blog. That teaser from 3-4 years ago (this weird bit) was for another idea I had to finally bookend the development journey, but the RPP project ended being a much better sendoff than whatever I had planned years prior. Through random nostalgia flare-ups, storytelling of my personal lore on my Twitch streams, and tons of self-indulgent Internet searches, I’ve come to discover that a good handful of people have played Perilous Platforms in some capacity — via my itch.io page or the old DeviantArt page link, via downloads on Equestria Gaming’s Arcade, features on Equestria Daily, and other specific sites, via BlueMaxima’s Flashpoint app where it’s been properly archived, and by other means that even I’ve yet to uncover.
Let’s Play videos, written reviews, entries on fan-related MLP wikis, re-uploads on seedy websites, you name it. Thank you so much for playing!
Tumblr media
I felt really proud that the game was able to be experienced despite the constant unfinished/unpolished state that it was in, and I just wanted to personally thank everyone for indulging a young rookie game developer that just wanted to contribute so much to a fandom that helped spark their creativity even further, and to also humbly thank everyone for their patronage and support over the years. The last thing I intend to do besides this blog update is to archive the most “complete” version of the game on Flashpoint for everyone to play - at least one that isn’t horribly broken or unplayable. After that, I likely won’t update the blog any further as I don’t use Tumblr in any capacity these days, I’ve long since “left the fandom”, and this is how I’ll finally move forward as a creator. But at the very least, I owe everyone at least a little bit of nostalgia to remember these golden times by. Thank you, and may your lives be filled with as much laughter as Pinkie Pie would’ve wanted. Take care of yourselves. - Sylver

stick to the script
Tumblr media
So 2 weeks ago, I got COVID-19 while traveling back from Bali. Getting sick and being quarantined forced me to face some of my most uncomfortable fears, and since I had nothing to do but sleep all day, I really had a lot of time to think. I realized that I harbor some deep insecurities about being able to follow through. Most of that is tied to an insecure money mindset, but it also affects me in my skill-building and staying consistent with my commitments.
For example, when I start feeling insecure, I end up finding excuses to quit my commitments, such as jobs, classes, or other programs I’m a part of. I noticed myself doing this with my fitness trainer during the quarantine, as I started panicking about not being able to afford it, not knowing how long I was going to be out of work for. I tend to have this doomsday approach - like, once I hit a roadblock I project it into the future as if there is no hope at all.
This is a horrible habit to have! However, I’m glad I’m becoming increasingly aware of it. Hopefully, awareness can help me nip it in the bud. I will say, though, that not all of it is unfounded. Sometimes, it is a good idea to reevaluate the situation and be realistic as circumstances change. For example, one goal of mine this year is to get out of debt - particularly, the credit card debt I racked up over these last 2 years while trying to survive the pandemic. I have to be realistic about what I’m expecting to make this month, especially since I wasn’t able to work for half the month due to being quarantined with COVID. And if that means I need to cut some expenses for the time being, I think that’s ok.
I’ve been looking for more tools to help me stay aligned and stick to the script. I have a few goals this year, and since the year is more than halfway through, I think it’s a good time to reevaluate and see what’s not working and readjust. I set a goal to get myself out of debt, and though I have been making good progress, it’s just not consistent. I think I have to focus on not giving up. Like, if I take two steps backwards, but the next step is forwards, then I have to focus on that step forward, and not let the backwards steps discourage me. I found a new tool that I’m excited to try - it’s called You Need A Budget and I really think this might be a game changer for me. With other budgeting apps, they merely track your spending, but this one has a unique approach of assigning your income to various categories as it comes in - so you sort of pre-allocate your spending ahead of time. I feel like this might just be the tool I need to get myself to the finish line.
I feel this way about music, too. Looking back at these last 10 years, I had so many start and stops, and most of them were all due to myself. Nobody was getting in the way but myself. And I have to take full accountability for that. Every time I got close to making some progress, I’d get frustrated or feel financially insecure and start focusing on all the wrong things. I think about how I was learning so much and finally feeling on the right track when I was studying at Berklee, and how my fixation on fear of debt ultimately led me to drop out and lose the scholarship money I did have. And look at me now, 9 years later, in the very debt I was afraid of, and for what? Not even tuition, but for frivolous credit card debt.
I don’t mean to beat myself up - I just want to call it out because I think being honest with myself about my bad habits is the first step. The next step is to make up my mind to reach my goals - no matter how many times I have to start again. I’ve made up my mind that even if I have to crawl there, I am going to reach my goals. I know I can do it!
I’ve learned so much in this process, and I think it is all finally just starting to make sense to me. I have to push through the fear and insecurities, and remind myself that those aren’t real - those are just bad habits, habitual negative frames of thinking that my mind is conditioned to default to. But I can readjust to a new paradigm - one that views all of this as a learning curve, lessons on my way to acheiving my goals. As long as I stick to the script, I know I’ll get there.

New Project 3, Part 1 (App Design)
For our final project in this class our instructor wanted us to learn more useful industry-specific skills that would help us in our careers. In this case we were to learn about UI/UX design. Specifically the project was an app design (design being the keyword as the app didn't actually have to function as an app) that was useful whether to our community specifically or society at large.
As it was nearing the end of the semester I had very little energy and therefore very few ideas left and so when I stumbled upon what was to be my final project idea I jumped at it. I decided to create a new, better version of a personal planner. One that was built around the idea of block schedules that are typically used in schools.
Tumblr media
Schedule Example - (This is an image I found on Google and I do not own it.)
We were told to use Figma to build out our designs and after an initial learning curve I found it easy enough to use.
Tumblr media
In researching personal planner apps I found that they have a great many features beyond simple day-planning. Such as habit tracking, to-do list making, and colour and theme personalizations. (I may have made that last word up. . . .)
My initial sketches and ideas for the app were written down quickly as I realized I did not have a great deal of time to create what I wanted to create.
Tumblr media
By the end of the semester I had created the beginnings of a decent personal planner app.
Tumblr media
I had decided to call it "Prophecy" as the app is meant to tell you (after you put in all the information) what is in your future.
I wanted to give people the option to sign-up if they wanted to use the app on multiple devices, or merely skip that process if they didn't.
I created a year's worth of monthly schedules each of which would have a ever updating feed of what's happening on that day.
Tumblr media
I also created a week's worth of days to give a glimpse of what that would look like.
Tumblr media
I created a page where people could input regularly occurring events, such as school, work, etc, where they could choose the days of the week and times it regularly occurs on as well as set an end date. I also gave people the option to add an alarm or colour code the event according to one of their preset habits.
Tumblr media
I also created pages where people could set up regular habits so they could be tracked. A page for to-do lists that they could connect to an event (ex. a grocery list connected to a "go shopping" event).
At the end of the day though, given the complexity of planning apps, I didn't have time to create a few pages. Such as a page where people could see the habits they were tracking or a profile page for people who created an account.
Overall I am happy with the general outcome of the app design and the amount of work I put into it. I found Figma fun and easy to work in and I would not mind exploring this kind of work in the future
I would like to say that I truly enjoyed this class and the program as a whole and I have had an amazing time. I have found community and developed over my time into a person I want to be. I wish everyone all the best.

MaxwellChu-Self-evaluation
Throughout the course of IGME 480, the skills that I have learned include javascript art production, AI data analysis, creating an un-drawing machine, and a basic understanding of how openAI works in python. To list the work I have done, they are the Training Camp (skill-building), Chance, Indeterminacy & Rule-based Systems, Un-Drawing Machine, AI & ML I: Augmented Body, AI/ML II: Image Synthesis & Classification, and Self-directed Final Project. The first on this list involved programming art in p5.js on the website OpenProcessing. The next one focused on generative art theory and études. Then comes machines learning to replicate drawing styles based on humans, but they can’t due to creative limitations. Augmented bodies showed how user interface can be shown throughout the entire body. After that is the study of how AI can analyze data and images to output various solutions. Finally, the self-directed final project focused on daily generative AI programming. Based on course activities, some new ideas I was thinking of were from the final project. I was considering exploring what else openAI can develop and be posted on social media in the same way as what was done in that project. A change that has stimulated my art activities would involve the assignment where I used poseNet in p5.js to create a filter. It made me think about facial tracking in a different way since it's so common in social media apps. My weakest area was the image synthesis assignment. I encountered too many errors while trying to complete it. I don't believe anything else is relevant to know about my experiences. If I were to give myself a letter grade based on what was answered in the labor contract, it would be a B. This is from missing two additional projects, as seen in Missed Deliverables II. I don’t believe I have had at least three unexcused absences, so that should not affect my grade. All in all, I believe I have done a satisfactory job in this course.

Design Fundamentals Information Learn the fundamentals of design in less than 6 weeks As a developer, you’re likely involved in design decisions on a daily basis. Maybe you’re being asked to add a new feature to your company's web app, or you’ve had an idea for a side project that you want to look half-decent. Many tasks you work on involve some level of design skills. And so design becomes that thing that you can’t seem to get away from. It’s always there: something you wish you could do but don’t know how to start. I’ve been there. I appreciated good design but could never seem to replicate it, despite having invested over 5 years into design college and university. Every course I took was insightful and technically ‘made sense’, yet when I was left to design something on my own, I hit a brick wall. Now, after almost a decade of self-taught designing, I finally feel like I can call myself a designer. And the way I taught myself was a far cry from what I learned in design school. That’s why I’ve created this course. I’m going to give you the shortcuts I wish I had when learning design and leave you with a solid foundation in everything from colour to typography to imagery on the web. This course will help you get to a stage where you can not only be confident in your abilities (and trust me, you have plenty of ability to learn design) but it’ll also teach you all the tricks I’ve learned in the last 10+ years of professional design work What will I learn? The goal of this course is to give you a solid design foundation to start building upon. It’s not going to teach you everything under the sun about design but it’ll teach you the most important things you can do to improve your designs today -- no matter how “artistic” you are (or, more likely, aren’t!). Some highlights include: EASY TO FOLLOW PROCESS My workflow I use for almost every project from finding inspiration to colour and typography THINK LIKE A DESIGNER How you can train your eye to spot what’s wrong in a design and, most importantly, fix it WORKSHEETS AND CHEATSHEETS Useful downloads to help you keep track of your progress and apply what you're learning to real projects VISUALS MADE EASY Image and illustration treatment that anyone can do - even if you can’t draw a wonky line Who is this course for? You want to master the fundamentals of design without spending years in design school (and don’t necessarily want to think of yourself as a designer) You want to build, launch, and sell your own products and not have them look ugly You have clients asking for you to add some design polish to the projects you built for them You want to learn from “over-the-shoulder” walkthroughs of how designers really design You want to stop feeling embarrassed when you give someone a link to your portfolio What You’ll Learn In This Course? MODULE 1: Planning In this module you will learn the best way to begin any design project. You’ll gather the assets you need so when you start, you won’t be helplessly staring at a blank screen. You’ll learn: The importance of good content and how to write it Which design style to use and why not to simply rely on personal tastes or trends How to gather inspiration that you can actually use to build up your design MODULE 2: Layout In this module you will learn my process for getting your content into a workable layout. This will form the foundation of your design. We’ll also go through the most common layout mistakes and how to fix them. You’ll learn: How to come up with a layout that will fit your content perfectly. The most important – but most overlooked – aspect of good design. Common layout mistakes and how to fix them. MODULE 3: Typography This module is all about choosing and using fonts in your designs. Typography plays a huge part in design and you’ll be surprised to see how the details can make a huge difference. You’ll learn: How to choose the best typefaces for headings and body copy. How to format typography and give it a clear hierarchy.
Typographic details that will take your design to the next level. MODULE 4: Colour In this module you will learn how to choose and use colours in your design. Choosing and applying colours can be tricky but I’ll show you my process and, more importantly, what to do when your colours don’t look quite right. You’ll learn: Some tricks to choosing a colour palette that works for your design. How to apply colours and make your palette stretch further. What to do when your colours look ‘off’. MODULE 5: Imagery This module is going to give you everything you need to know to use imagery effectively in design. This is a stumbling block for so many people and can really make or break your design. You’ll learn: How to source photography, illustrations, and icons. How to edit photography so it doesn’t look like generic stock photography. How to manipulate illustrations and icons so they look custom designed for you. Tips and tricks on how to edit and display screenshots from your app or software product. MODULE 6: Polish In this module you will be polishing up your designs. You will go back and identify what the problem areas are and come up with ideas on how to fix them. You’ll learn: A simple exercise you can use to critically analyse your design. Some responsive tips, tricks, and considerations as you start to build out your design. How to ensure your design will stay consistent throughout iterations and updates. About Author Hey! I’m Laura Elizabeth and I’ve been a designer for almost a decade, I’ve worked on projects for HelpSpot, LaraTalent, RightMessage and Double Your Freelancing. I also speak at numerous conferences around the world (you might have seen me on stage at SmashingConf, Laracon, LTV Conf, Patterns Day and many more). And now I’m here to help you level up your design skills so you can start creating products that are not only built well, but look pretty darn good! More courses from the same author: Laura Elizabeth

Another morning
Alright, where do I start. Perhaps with the app I've been working on with my team. Alright, where do I start with that... think think think...
Tumblr media
I'm the technical lead for university year long project (its actually 6 months, so I don't know why they would call it a year project) and its essentially a capstone project for my computer science degree.
My team is composed of 5 people, including myself and 4 of those members I've been in another terminal war simulator C++ project with last year and the other member I've met and teamed up with this year.
When we first decided to team up, I didn't want to be group leader again because I'm simply not a leader! Its way too much pressure having to manage people and making sure everyone is doing their work, and in hindsight I still think someone else in my group should have been a leader because I don't like these responsibilities! I'm a techie, an introvert! PICKING ME TO BE A LEADER?!?!? ARE YOU INSANE??
Tumblr media
But nobody else wanted and I hate how everyone thought I was just playing hard to get, bro I'm simply not like that! But alas I gave in since no one bothered to step up, the only leadership quality I think I have is my refusal to fail and my clear sight to a goal. And also my ability to go beyond my limits even if detrimental to my mental health
So, what was the project that I've someone ended up as a leader for? Well, the project was an event photo sharing app and our client was a software engineer from a popular tech company in my country.
We met up with them, discussed ideas for the project, tried my best to encourage my team for the most grueling 5-6 months of their lives and got to work!
Tumblr media
Being a project manager/leader is super hard like oh my goodness, I had to make sure there were constant meetings and that we followed scrum agile framework, it was really hard managing because getting people to do work is not one of my skill sets, I've always been a solo leveler but now I have to tell others what to do. Its hard to enforce accountability for work not done when your members are also friends.
What I wanted for my team is for them to have fun, learn something that can make them more valuable in the long run and ultimately build something they're proud of. Those are the values I tried for but its very hard if nobody listens to me and it feels like a chore to them.
My role was mostly technical leading as in most of the technical decisions were made by me, and also technical support as in if you ran into an issue come to me and I'll help or lead you to someone who can help, and I was also DevOps as in I built the whole CI/CD pipeline for our project with automatic builds, tests and deployments (I've never done this before so I had to learn and learn a lot of github actions), I was also sort of doing full stack (backend/service engineer and integration engineer and ui engineer) and also involved in training an AI model which in the end didn't work but we found a nice python solution. As you can imagine, I was having a lot on my plate? more like table and all had to be done
Tumblr media
The team focused towards the 4 demos we had, each demo was a sort of deliverable where we had to have a certain percentage of the app requirements done. It was exhausting work, I had to work so many nights and give up weeks of holidays and recess to get it done, I started eating more and sleeping less, moving less, always on my computer, coding and designing, day in day out, sacrificing family time to make progress for the sake of the project, why? because I don't want to fail, it was no longer for sake of making the best app in the world, somewhere down the line of development it was no longer for the fun of it, it was for survival. This felt like a Herculean challenge, as if I was Sisyphus or something, it was all I could think about. I thought this project would finally be the time I enjoy myself but it ended with me having to rush to meet deadlines. Pushing myself to the very limit.
Tumblr media
I won't lie, I was starting to feel hate inside my heart because I was burning myself out. Before the project began, one of the assistant lecturers mentioned that the projects will be tough and that it may ruin friendships, I didn't think much of it but now I'm just shook at my team. Not because deadlines weren't being met but because I was being ignored, I felt like I was being an inconvenience, like I was just taking time away from them and when the demo was getting closer and then all so suddenly they look at me like why things weren't finished. I'm sorry but we have deadlines for a reason!!! And now we have to do crunch time and I look like a bad guy.
But those feelings so mostly dissipated in our 4th demo because that was it, our supposed final demo, at least where the app is supposed to be at 100% complete. We finished all of the required features and tried adding extra, and what was the result? Well you can go and see for yourself
This is what we were presenting, the presentation went alright, better than the first 3 but I wasn't satisfied because there were some features I wanted to add but couldn't since we had to make sure the parts we did have were working. We were presenting to our lecturers, not the module lecturers but lecturers for the whole computer science degree, so we were a bit shaky.
Tumblr media
The presentation went alright, two of my members have a dynamic, one of my engineers had a Steve Jobs like talent and the other was a quick learner and were very good at hiding their fears. The lecturers asked us questions, there's something I noticed about these questions... they were ignited by our presentation, but thats something for later. The questions were essentially based on what they taught us in the last couple of years since the degree began in first year and as final years were we able to apply what they taught us.
We were able to answer most of the questions with confidence, however one of my lecturers wasn't happy with our implementation of microservices. But other than that, it wasn't anything major, we did our best. And now we can stop working on the project.
There's a fifth demo in case our 4th demo didn't go well, meaning that we have to make improvements to the app, but we haven't got the results yet. In the mean time, we are focusing on our other modules.
Well I think I've said enough about the project. I'll write more later on what I'm going to do with this new free time because its crazy how much free time we have without this project. I am happy my team was able to push themselves, I've always wanted to be part of a development team where we all code and eat pizza together while working on the app. Discussing ideas with each member and how they should be implemented. This experience was valuable and I don't believe it would have been possible if I wasn't the group leader or with these lovable goof balls.
I do have anger issues, but the normal amount of anger, you know when your buttons get pressed so much, I was the only technical support! I felt like an overworked gateway service! Oh my goosh I was just mad. But hey, there's a good and bad to this, all you need to know I won't be doing any more group leaderly stuff hopefully and I'm not going to be involved in software development for a while and I'm retiring. Its off to cybersecurity now.
Tumblr media
I'll let you know how the results are, but my next post will come out shortly
