Find a face claim for your character and identify the differences
Oh, this is an interesting question. I'm going to be completely unsurprising and unoriginal and go with Lucy Lawless in Xena: Warrior Princess
Tumblr media
Nirtovi Warbringer is, after all, a vainglorious warrior princess.
But this is an interesting question because the most obvious differences are that Nirtovi is an evil elf from outer space and has grey skin, pointy ears, pointy teeth, and spooky glowing red eyes. Which I am at least 60% sure Lucy Lawless does not have, though the jury's still out on whether or not she's an evil elf from outer space. I made a Nirtovi in Hero Forge and she looks like this:
Tumblr media
Questions like this are hard for me because I have no idea what anyone looks like, both real people and the pretend people I write about; I don't ?thnk? I have face blindness, but visualizing and describing faces is a challenge over here.
But I think Nirtovi has much sharper and longer features, in a kind of exaggerated way. In origin, humans and space elves are unrelated alien species who are built sort of similar through convergent evolution, on account of similar environmental conditions on their cradle worlds. So elven faces look "human, but slightly to the left" in a way that often makes people uncomfortable, which I think is very fun.

So, today is the 1st May and I have decided to participate to this fun challange about *drum rolls* OCS!!!
So, each day, I will follow the questions by @wordsnstuff (the questions can be found here  https://wordsnstuffblog.com/post/173485333935/31-days-of-character-development-may-writing).
Due to the limited time that I have each day, I will focus on two characters that I have already presented here, Dorothea Starrick and Lucia Barbarigo, two of my most favourite ocs. (tagging @random-oc-questions-fairy !thank you for posting about this event, this is going to be fun!! I cannot wait!)
So, the first question for today is this:
What does your character think they want?
Dorothea Starrick: Being the daughter of the Grand Master of the British Rite, Dorothea knows that there are certain expectations that she has to meet. But these expectations are not unwelcomed to her, because she wants to bring honour and pride to her family’s name by following in her father’s footsteps and wants to bring peace and wealth to London, just like her father has done before her. She wants to be a just leader, one that will be able to carry The Order into a new age of prosperity.
Tumblr media
Lucia Barbarigo: Lucia Barbarigo is the youngest among "Le Figlie della Laguna”, as the children of Agostino Barbarigo, Doge of Venezia, are known among the people, and she knew from a young age that all she would have been useful for, to her family at least, would be to marry to a powerful family that would help consolidate the power of the Barbarigo in the Dogado. Because of this she had tried to convince herself that all she wants from life is to be a good wife, a good mother and to support her intended, Tiziano Contarini, chosen by her father for her. However, the arrival of a certain Florentine Assassin will shed some light over what she truly wants.

31 Days Of Character Development: May Writing Challenge
1. What does your character think they want?
(more OCs will be added as we go along and I actually make them but for now we just have the main 3)
Ken: At the moment Ken's main desires involve rather normal things. He wants to graduate from high school and start working at this family confection shop full time, and of course getting a girlfriend would be nice too, but that can wait.
Scarlet: Having finally been given the chance to live a more public life, she is super interested in wanting to experience everything such a life has to offer, such as making friends and doing "normal" teenager things. She also is super addicted to Ken's blood and hopes to be able to keep up their agreement where she periodically is allowed to take some of it.
Melanie: Given Melanie is the spoiled little sister type, her thing is fairly simple, she wants to be able to monopolize her big brother's attention and finish up her schooling as quick as possible in order to become a great businesswoman who can support her brother and the shop.

Days 13 & 14 of wordsnstuff’s prompts
13. Find a face claim for your character and identify the differences.
Elle Fanning in Ginger & Rosa
Tumblr media Tumblr media
IMPORTANT NOTE: I have not actually seen this movie. Really, this choice is more about facial expressions and body language than anything else (though obviously the red hair doesn’t exactly hurt). Fox would have a longer, more angular face with more almond-shaped eyes, and a pointed nose rather than a short turned-up one.  Like Fox, it seems that this character is typically pretty unreadable except around people she really trusts. Most of the time Fox prefers to remain aloof, hiding her emotions behind resting bitchface a scowl, her piercing gaze acting as a deterrent to any prying eyes. Of course, this limits Fox’s ability to make friends significantly. Even so, some people manage to get past the walls she puts up to isolate herself, and there’s a wonderfully mischievous and playful quality to her personality that emerges once she feels comfortable around someone.
14. What is your character’s ethnic background?
Fox is a Caucasian (non-Hispanic) American, mostly of Scots-Irish descent. Her skin is fair and is partially covered in constellations of freckles. She has fiery red hair and hazel-gold eyes.

What does your character think they want?
Rhea started off her journey wanting an adventure where she can help people. She was content to be a scientist working in a lab to focus on tasks related to making sure life could be mad easier for others. It evolves into her thinking she needs to save everyone.
Eilene honestly wanted the bare minimum. She didn’t think she deserved anything more than having enough food to get by and helping those that she can with her powers. She simply wants to do good but is very broken and struggles to see that what she is doing is good.

31 Days Of Character Development: May Writing Challenge
Day 2: What does your character actually want?
Nero: Really just wants to raise his daughter right. Bringing up a scrawny little human in the big scary forest hasn't been easy. He spent a lot of her younger years constantly worried that something would happen to her, and he wouldn't be able to do anything about it. On a larger scale, he wants the rift between humans and monsters to go away, if only so that people will stop treating Gena like...well like some kind of monster. He's aware that there's an awful lot of bad blood between them though.
Gena: Would like to know while no one else in the forest looks like her. Nero hasn't kept humans a secret, per se, but he seems pretty reluctant to talk about them. It's enough to convince her that there's something to do with humans that must have to do with her...now if only she knew what a human looked like. She assumed that, much like Mars, she must be the last of her kind, and that must mean that the humans are responsible for her status, right? Well. Sort of.
Prince Leo: Is really quite lonely. He just wants a family more than anything. Getting out from under The King's rule would also be nice, but if he were presented with the opportunity for either freedom or family, he'd take family. This has translated into a fierce protectiveness for his adoptive daughter, Selene. Leo knows the King only tolerates Selene's presence due to the power she holds, but still. He hopes she can have a future among mankind.
Princess Selene: Desperate for approval, longing for acceptance. From anyone really, although it certainly matters more coming from her dad...and especially from The King. Being a dragon among humans means she doesn't have too many friends her age, and the nobles are all too snobbish to hang around with. As if there weren't enough expectations coming with being a princess, everyone's always expecting her to set them on fire at the slightest provocation.

31 Days of Character Development: Days 16
16. List and explain your character’s positive traits.
Not going to do all of them because my brain is mush, but randomizer picked a couple!
Ruby Aenn:
Optimism - She manages to keep inspired and encouraged even in troubling situations. Others have come to rely on her to keep morale and spirits up.
Compassion - She has a lot of empathy for others, even those that may not really deserve it. Due to the fact that she nearly turned to the NC, she has a space in her heart even for them.
Creative - Eclectic might be a better word but she’s very inventive and unorthodox in how she goes about solving problems. Even if a straightforward way might be better, she thinks there is value in doing things in a way that has never been done before.
Riaghael:
Endurance - He’s been through quite a lot and continues to march on out of willpower. Even in situations where it might have been better for him to have stopped or slowed down, he continued anyway,
Loyalty - It takes a lot of effort but once he has decided you are his friend or someone who deserves to be in his life, he is yours. There is almost nothing you could do to break that - protective to the utmost for those he cares about.
Passion - Riag’s not one to do anything in half measures. If he’s going to do something he will do it to his highest capacity or he won’t waste his time on it. If he’s passionate about it he will throw everything he has at it.
Dion:
Independence - It’s not easy to live basically separate from the goings-on of the world,  but he does a good job on it. Taking care of most of his own business and keeping to himself.
Gentleness - Ah, Dion. He’s rather intimidating in appearance but he’s kind and mild in nature. Some might call it a weakness but I think it’s a strength. Whereas Ruby has outgoing compassion, his is less showy and more internal.
Self-awareness*- Now while he’s not the most cognizant of his appearance (tall, beefy bog dude that he is) he is aware of his own limitations and hindrances. He knows he’s not the healthiest cabbage in the patch and prone to getting overwhelmed, so he takes the steps he needs to minimize said reactions.
Valens:
Curiosity - She wants to know everything! It doesn’t matter to her if it’s not knowledge that’s practical, she’s gotta know. Not just book-learning, but real experience.
Humor - Valens is a terrible prankster, practical jokes and gags as well. Though she takes care not to have them edge into the territory of being mean or upsetting. Goofy for goofys sake and a little ridiculous!
Agility - Being an ex-ritual dance instructor, she’s got the moves. Hence the name she took when she entered the Forge warband (Forgedance). She’s always keeping active and always moving.

31 Days Of Character Development: May Writing Challenge
Challenge was made thanks to  @wordsnstuff
Day 1: What does your character think they want ?
Melanie: Melanie wants to do well at her new job and become the team leader that Candy thinks she can be. She also wants to hug her cat and listen to some music. A frappe
Michael: Michael wants to perfect this cake recipe his mom has been trying to teach him. Wants to play his game without his in-game teammates being complete idiots. Cuddles.
Tyrell:  Everything (jk, kinda). Some of those furry crocs to annoy Candy with.  A cute partner they can fluster with their flirting. Also wants cuddles.
Candy: For her training with Melanie to be over, so she can finally step down. A break. For Tyrell to not wear crocs to work. A baby bottle pop.
(Ugh I feel like this question was supposed to be more serious than I took it to be lol. The responses are also kinda crappy )

5/31:  If you had to write 10 rules or beliefs that your character follows, what would they be?
Oh, this should be fun.  Nirtovi Warbringer’s Ten Rules For Life are:
* Never trust a human * Especially never trust a witch * (Except for Saoirse) * Vevic must be protected at all costs * Colonizing realspace was a big mistake that needs to be walked back * Don’t talk to Auntie Lotherte until she’s had her coffee * Carolians should be shot on sight * As a general rule, negotiations are most effective down the barrel of a coilgun * Act first, think later * You can’t save everyone

Day 2 of the “31 Days Character Development Challange”
Hello again! it’s day 2 of the challange, and here I am with another answer for my dears Lucia and Dorothea! thank you @random-oc-questions-fairy for the tag!
2.What does your character actually want?
Dorothea Starrick: For most of her life, Dorothea has only wanted one thing: to become her own person, her own woman, and make her father proud while also trying to step out of the great shadow he casted. What she actually wants is seeing her worth recognized as her own, not as an extension of her father’s powerful hand and will. She wants to prove that she is able to handle the same resposabilities her father had, in the same way he did, if not even better. She wants to actually do good for the people of London, and see everyone thrives and prospers.
Tumblr media
Lucia Barbarigo: Lucia has always been a gentle soul, whose greatest love are books and stories, her refuge from the reality around her. The knowledge, from an early age, that she was destined to marry not for love but for duty has put her in the sad perspective that has accompanied her for most of her life. She grew up thinking that she was to be just a tool in someone else’s hands, serving someone else’s scope (i.e. creating a strong allegiance between the Barbarigo and the Contarini). What she truly wants is to be able to find someone that would actually sees past her name, and love her for what she has to offer, and most importantly, for how she is, flaws and qualities alike. Another dream she has, one she has never revealed anyone but her dear Martino, her sweet cat, is that she  wants is to be able to write her own book, one day, one that might narrate her story and how she fell for one of the most dashing Assassin ever existed.

All righty, time for wordsnstuff day 4! I’ll pick a few emotions for my first five folks today. (@uselessidiotsquad also did top 3 emotions for this, so credit to you for the...model? style? whatever this is!)
4. What are recurring emotions that your character/s have?
Kerra: self-doubt, compassion, determination
She will see things through to the end to the best of her ability, and she’s naturally compassionate; it’s a part of her core personality. The self-doubt is tied to both her basing her entire worth off her Wyld Hunt as a sapling and to the resulting depression.
Nisha: anxiety, powerlessness, frustration
Feeling like xe needed to prove xemself to xyr mother did not do xem a whole lot of favors. (None, in fact.)
Rel: enthusiasm, stubbornness, exasperation
He’s a bright spark--he won’t back down when he knows (or thinks he knows) that he’s right, and he struggles with anyone who’s trying to do the same job he is but isn’t adequately trained (more people than you’d think!).
Cio: skepticism, melancholy, self-conscious
Mostly due to her childhood, she’s naturally slow to trust and often hyper-conscious of her appearance. Sometimes, she imagines a version of her life where her parents are still alive.
Ari: grief, bitterness, suspicion
Mourning her warband, bitter for the life she used to have, and suspicious x10 because of Weylon’s betrayal and how much she’s been let down.

Days 1-3 of wordsnstuff’s prompts
What does your character think they want? Freedom. Solitude. Independence.  To be free. To run away from the past and not look back. To be alone. To be completely self-reliant and not to need anyone. On a surface level, Fox thinks that avoiding attachment to other people will protect her from betrayal and loss. In truth, what she fears are things that have already happened, not necessarily indicators of what lies ahead. Ultimately, cutting herself off from others does more harm than good to her. ~
What does your character actually want? Redemption. Healing. Trust. Companionship. To confront her past rather than to live in fear of it. Forgiveness, particularly self-forgiveness. To have people in her life she can trust with her whole heart.  Fox genuinely does desire a great deal of personal freedom and is fiercely independent, but there’s more nuance to it than that. As much as she thinks she wants to run away from and to forget her past, what she really seeks is reconcile with the past so she can move on from it. Her desire to protect herself from being hurt often masks as a desire to be alone, but on a fundamental level she really just wants to be able to trust people again.  ~
What does your character need? Comfort. Reassurance. Introspection. To feel safe. To have people she can confide in. To be vulnerable. To reflect. To have time alone with her thoughts. Though Fox first and foremost appreciates her independence, isolation in excess only serves to worsen her anxiety and fuel her distrust in people in general. She has a very deep need to feel safe, so she’s most at ease around people who are obviously protective of her. Only once she’s really come to trust someone does she feel comfortable letting her guard down. In friends, she seeks people who are nonjudgmental, trustworthy, and are respectful of her boundaries.

31 Days Of Character Development: May Writing Challenge
1. What does your character think they want?
Nero: Thinks he just wants the forest to be healthy and safe. This includes everyone in the forest, including his friends, enemies, family, his new adopted daughter... Kind of a lot actually. But really, he's the Keeper, and it's the keeper's job to protect the forest. Therefore, that is what he wants.
Gena: Thinks she wants adventure. Despite living only in the forest all her life, Gena is convinced that their are mysteries and secrets to be found under the leaves. And she's not entirely wrong, they're just not the secrets she's expecting. Gena is constantly trying to rope her friends into exploring new places, pushing the borders, and maybe even seeing what's in that weird stone place that Uncle Mars is always visiting.
Prince Leo: Thinks he wants what's best for the commonwealth of his people, which obviously means obeying The King's commands - even if he may not necessarily agree with them. He wants his country to prosper, to reign supreme, and to vanquish all the crown's enemies. As a good prince should.
Princess Selene: Thinks she wants to be a regal princess befitting of her people, and to honor her father, the Prince. She must be proper, and follow her rules and duties to the letter - even if she is of a distinctly inhuman shape. Being a dragon among humans is no excuse not to be proper. Selene will mold herself into the princess she was meant to be, at any cost. And if she can get The King's approval...even better. Her people deserve the favor of The King.

31 Days of Character Development: Days 8-9
8. What is your characters biggest secret and why do they keep it?
I've answered something similar to this before but to have it all in one place, here we go!
Ruby: Thinks she shouldn't have been Commander. Not that she isn't doing a great job but her own personal insecurity means she feels like she's not doing anything well enough. In her mind the real Commander should have always been Riag. She keeps it because she's often times the 2oz of optimism and motivation for people and if she lets it show that even she is scared - she worries it will make things worse. Sort of a 'I have to keep smiling and marching on because if I stop people will notice and realize just how hopeless this is'
Riaghael: He wishes he had been killed in Meguuma. While yes, he does enjoy aspects of where he is at in his life now it was a very long time before he was at this point. And there are still times when the idea makes it's rounds. He keeps it because firstly, he is ashamed of it. Yes, it's not a healthy thing to think about. Yes, he feels like humoring the idea is insulting to the sacrifice of those who got him to this point. But the thought is still there - it's just not as loud. Lastly, he keeps it because he doesn't want anyone to worry about him. Telling people said thoughts doesn't usually go well and he doesn't want their pity.
Dion: He's still very young and doesn't really have any? If anything, I'll massage the prompt here to add basically what I considered a secret/au/missed chance. Which also got mentioned before, actually. If we're throwing around the word should - he should have been Mordrem full stop. Nasty, cruel, and powerful. Originally, I designed him to be that but after playing the character for a bit this form of him started to emerge. So now he's this awkward, nervous, yet basically benign dude who lives in the Wychmire swamp and tries to just stay in his lane.
Galla: Like Riag, she struggles with mental health issues, primarily depression and mood instability. But instead of channeling it into self-hatred and gardening, she channels it into vigilance going after Flame Legion. Part of her knows that it's not going to resolve all her problems but she's focused on that for so long she can't afford to not keep going.
Sigilis: She actually cares a lot about her makeshift family. It's funny that something positive would be a secret but she tries to maintain her rugged, uncouth appearance too much to let it slip.
Ordia: You'll never get her to admit it, but she wants to find someone that understands her. A mate, a friend, partner in crime, whatever. Wanting to be understood she thinks is a weakness and is disgusted with herself for it.
Valens: It's not much of a secret, because everyone has basically figured it out - but she still considers it a secret. She's a runaway! Ran away from her village to escape the mundanity of it and to avoid pressure of having to pick which area she wanted to focus on. Not wanting to get sent back, she hasn't told anyone. Though, since it is very obvious she might as well.
9. Where does you character stand on the alignment scale?
Oh I love this question, I've mused about it on my own for a long time.
Ruby: Lawful (mostly) Good
-Tries to do the right thing but also will sometimes go absolutely bonkers if she feels like the situation calls for it.
Riaghael: Neutral Good
-Does whatever it takes to make sure the people he cares about are safe. Breaking rules if he needs to or following them. Whatever it takes.
Dion: True Neutral
- Rules are okay, but not everything. He's mainly looking out for himself but won't hurt anyone to do that.
Galla: Neutral Good
-Wants to do the right thing but sometimes her definition of 'right' can be a bit much.
Sigilis: Chaotic Neutral
-LIVE FAST EAT ASS GO OUT SWINGING.
Ordia: Neutral Evil
-She will do whatever is required of her to get her own goals met and has no limiting factors like morals to get in her way.
Valens: Chaotic Good
-She loves helping people and will do ridiculous things if it means they crack a smile or feel better. Very much a good trickster vibe from the young Charr.
