I never seem to talk about it anymore but I still make things! I have a ton of project photos that I'll be posting as I'm organizing my backups. This is an Iggy Peck sweater out of handspun polwarth, with needle-felted steeks.

#handspinning #handspun #knitting #much worn and loved #need to get snowed in at a cabin wearing this #stopped catching my floats after the first body repeat and it was the right thing to do #you can see the float catching contrast in the middle of the lozenge/diamond pattern #sweater is so fluffy and lightweight that the felted steeks don't add much bulk #woolen or semi-woolen yarn for stranded colorwork is my fave (this was the latter) #pip makes stuff

Done! Just in time for the holidays!

I'm so happy with it! It fits! It's so warm and cozy! The red is as amazing as I hoped it would be. 10/10 worth the effort.

I'm especially happy with managing to make actual sleeve heads that matched up with the bodice! I decided to completely cast of the sleeves, and I was afraid that the joining seam would end up bulky and weird, but it looks alright! I had to gather the sleeve head just a tiny bit at the top, but it doesn't show and I think just helps the fit.

The inspiration came from old folk costume from Dalarna in Swedish, where it was common with knitted sleeves on sewn bodices at the end of the 19th century. I love the red color and the bold patterns and decided to just... try something like it.

I made my own pattern in an Google speadsheet and started knitting the sleeves and this summer. The pattern is bulkier because I could not be arsed the knit as tightly as the originals were - not only are they made on tiny needles, they're made using twined knitting, where you use two ends of yarn and twist them together between every stitch. That makes an incredibly tight and dense fabric, aaaand it takes forever and ever. I made a pair of socks like that and I just didn't have the patience for a whole damn sweater. And I anyway wanted to knit the bodice too.

1. I am now parted from my gf

2. I came home to the window of my room wide open, to minus twenty degrees or so outside (I swear I closed it before leaving????)

3. As a consequence of this my water bottle is completely frozen through, as I left it in my bed still with water in it (bad habit I know maybe now I'll learn)

4. My uterus is currently acting up as well :(

I like the cold and am not bothered by the situation per se, I just miss my favourite hot water bottle (my gf) who would make things extra cozy, or at least that my regular one was available for use:/

not me lying in bed and staring down yesterday's impulse thrift purchases orz

#tbh they're gems and were a steal at 20 bucks for a woolen coat a fuzzy long vest and a fuzzy sweater #but still. i only have a vague idea on how to style any of them and i am slightly intimidated #mostly regretting the coat because i have at least 5 other similar coats waiting in the coat closet orz #but it's a nice shorter coat! perfect for autumn walks!!! with big sturdy pockets AND A HOOD #anyway. time to start the day
