Sometimes called the Children of Aia, leaflings are small creatures made of living wood and leaves who live throughout the wilds of Genesis. Though to be spawned from the inherent magic of the shards, their primary role seems to help rejuvenate the soil; farmers actively encourage their presence if they spot them in the fields. Leaflings are shy and nonaggressive, and don’t have any natural predators. They seem primarily interested in being left alone.
It’s been theorized that Burning Heart, a well-documented Freed Spirit, has some sort of connection to the leaflings. If nothing else, they seem to share a striking visual similarity.
These are from one or two of reaper minis' companion set. They were tiny and tough to paint, and I'll be honest, I'm not too happy with most of them. The fire elemental and wood spirit are nice, but the rest? The fairy one in particular is a sad low. But hey, I was still only a few months into the hobby back then, so I was bound to get into my first creative stump.
The very first artwork of my new series called "Forest spirits"
I hate naming my artworks. I feel it's not necessary, but this one's a bit different.
I started this artwork, like all of my artworks. No deep meaning behind it, no thinking about symbolism or anything.
When I was about to finish it, a random thought came to mind. It looks like it could be a forest spirit. Something familiar yet unknown. Cute yet scary...
