Hello! I love your posts about the Jedi, and I was wondering if I could ask you a question: What's something you would love to see explored with the Jedi?
Hi! I'm glad you're enjoying them, I love the Jedi and I hope I can help make being in the fandom around them a little more fun for people. <3 For me, my #1 wish for things I'd love to see explored with the Jedi: TELL ME ABOUT OUR FAVE JEDI'S APPRENTICESHIPS. I want to know so much more about Mace's apprenticeship, I want to know who was Shaak's Master, I want to know if Shaak and Plo were Padawans at the same time together, I want to know just exactly how Depa was a chaos gremlin for Mace, I want to know how much trouble Kit Fisto got into, I want more stories of Obi-Wan & Siri & Bolla & Pre being "a merry band of brats" as Yaddle called them, I want more stories of Yoda training Dooku and probably forcing Dooku to let Yoda ride on his shoulders! I want more stories of Luminara's time as a Padawan, I want more stories of Adi as a Padawan and what made her take the career paths she did, I want to know if Saesee was as much of a hellion as a Padawan as I suspect he was. I want to know more about various Jedi and their time as apprentices, rather than just more about Obi-Wan or Anakin's time as Padawans. I also want more worldbuilding on everything about the Jedi, I want to know what their schooling scheduling looks like, given how well-educated every Jedi we meet is, I'd love to know just how their classes are arranged, I want to know exactly what the layout of the Jedi Temple is, I want to know what special holidays the Jedi have that are unique to them, I want to know what special rites they have around their kyber crystals, given that they become extensions of the Jedi's soul. I want to know how the Force influences their art--there's statues and Force-sculpting and murals all over the place in the Jedi Temple, but the Force is more than just lifting clay or paint, at its heart is that it's your emotions that are your connection to the Force. Mace was a theatre nerd, how did the Jedi's psychic abilities work with that, did the actors project the emotions of the characters out into their Jedi audience? I want to know how emotions soaking into the walls affects the Jedi's way of doing things--when Anakin and Ahsoka get back to the Temple and can still hear the screams of the bomb that went off days ago, because it's echoing all around the space for them, how do the Jedi approach that? How do they try to mitigate leaving behind sorrow and pain and horror, especially in a hospital area where people are often sick and wounded? I want to know exactly what kind of games the Jedi babies play in the creche, especially since they would be teaching games, as the Jedi are a teaching-centric culture. I think one of the games mentioned in a book somewhere was a Jedi version of hide-and-seek, but what about cute little treasure hunt puzzles for developing psychometric skills? They have to pick up clues from the stuffed bantha toy to tell them where to find the next stuffed nexu toy, etc. each of the toys soaked through with warm, soft, comforting feelings by the creche masters to make it fun for the babies. There's so much that's under-explored (for my tastes, I've certainly cobbled a lot together to get a general idea of some things!) specifically through how the Jedi interact with the Force and to expand outside of just Obi-Wan or Anakin's time as an apprentice that I go a little gremlin-like just thinking about all I want to see explored!

I’m on a Star Wars books roll so here we go with my — unhinged thanks for asking! — thoughts on Dooku: Jedi Lost, specifically the audio play. Short version: I fucking loved this one! For maximum emotional devastation, pair with Master and Apprentice and Padawan the way my stupid ass did and then be sad about it forever I guess that's what I’m going to have to do.
 Long (LONG oopsie) version:
- So. First of all, let’s get the most important thing out of the way on this here old man yaoi website. We all agree dooku and sifo dyas explored each other’s bodies right. Or at least definitely would have if not for the laws of this order etc., potentially. That’s not just me. Good. Thank you. We can now move on
- Secondly. Well. Guess I’m just going to be inconsolable about Sifo-Dyas forever now. I miss the days in which he was just a throwaway line in AotC spawned by a random misspelling to me, rather than an eternal raw aching wound in my heart
- poor poor ventress just reading through all the proof that dooku absolutely does have it in him to be a good dad I mean master and just — idk got tired of that and went the force lightning route with her. I love the move of having her dead master hang out with her all that time as well (having her slip up and refer to ‘us’ did something to me, god this is so sad. Is he actually there in spirit or is it just her grief dreaming him up because dooku is awful and cold as a cliff  wall and she needs some kind of attachment figure even if she’ll have to reinvent him herself, rebuild him word for word, gesture by gesture. Pain. sorry about your terrible track record with father figures asajj)
- Lene: (About Averross): He hasn’t changed.
Dooku: (In the warmest fondest voice you ever heard) And I hope he never does
WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH MYSELF? MUST I SET MYSELF ON FIRE TO ESCAPE THE PAIN???
Another strong showing for Rael in general, btw. He’s so warm and charming as a presence even though he’s also a little chaos gremlin. (He’s quite similar to how Sifo-Dyas was when he was young in some ways, I can definitely start to see what Dooku responds warmly to in terms of character traits.)
- the fact that good ol’ sheev showed an interest in rael, dooku and anakin… interesting huh! He’s just got a soft spot for the disaster lineage I suppose, maybe there’s an element there of luring yoda’s most direct lineage into the dirt with him without yoda even noticing for the longest time. Also cackling at the idea that he looked at qui-gon ‘too fucking stubborn and insufferable to fall to the dark side out of sheer spite’ jinn and went ‘...not that one tho’ fhdskjfa. And obi-wan is more like ‘that one blorbo all my little guys seem wild about but I just don’t get it guys’
IF rael’s refusal to join dooku at the end of ‘master and apprentice’ is the last word (which I am not convinced of ;___; be safe cowboy jedi we never see in mainline canon so far), then he’s the only one who has dodged palpatine’s attentions. Wonderful if true love that for him
ALSO rael is one of the few people we know to be on (or at least to consider himself on despite what palps might think lol) first name basis with palpatine. Hilarious. I concur with dooku never change rael
- Sifo-Dyas: That’s insane.
Dooku, deadpan: Yes.
Sifo-Dyas: The worst plan I’ve ever heard.
Dooku, somehow even more deadpan: Most probably.
Sifo-Dyas: I’m in.
Crying… weeping and dying………… what if someone could have helped sifo with his unfortunate prophecy propensity and they hadn’t drifted apart. Clone Wars averted methinks if dooku still ended up leaving the order he would have been too busy having tender gay sex with the love of his life (and only person who can call him out on his shit and have him actually listen) to be a war criminal (I am being extremely facetious of course this is very much a ‘time traveler killing baby hitler’ situation where the underlying forces causing this point in history are way too powerful to avert the catastrophe in one move. but at least palps would probably have had to pick someone else to wreck the galaxy through and sifo-dyas would be kissed & held instead of going slowly mad. A net plus some (I, me) would say)
- I just wanted to applaud both the writing and the voice acting for the characterization of Dooku in this, from his young self trying so hard to be haughty and self-possessed but also being like, y’know, twelve and a dweeb and easy for Sifo-Dyas to pull into trouble, to the dry wit and warmth he shows with Rael and Qui-Gon or his sister later. It took me a little while to get into the voice acting specifically (the actor makes no attempt at going the full Christopher Lee, which in hindsight was probably wise), but now I love it. It gets a bit goofy in places but you know what, I am a long time lover of audio plays, that’s part of the charm
- “Master, have I done something wrong?”
My heart is clenching… do you think… that master yoda’s deal with leaving his student to try fucking everything to have some kind of relationship with him until he just breaks down in tears of despair… is the kind of thing that maybe started a little bit of a generational trauma cartwheel through the ages. The point that bb!dooku is arrogant isn’t without merit and he strikes out incredibly ungracefully about it (in fact I would be a lot more worried than yoda seems to be that he decides to try to kill a tree about it, ‘I felt like destroying something beautiful’-style)  but I just don’t think a… fourteen year old? A teen anyway, Is going to learn what you think he learns from this. I simply don’t believe that silent treatmenting kids will teach them emotional intelligence I guess especially if they already struggle with that naturally lol
(It is exactly the same mistake (in my opinion) that Qui-Gon makes with Obi-Wan, too, just leaving the kid completely alone and forcing them to come to you every which way for comfort or guidance instead of meeting them or reaching out to them. Especially once you see that really Dooku’s prime emotion/big core wound right from the beginning is loneliness. And that doesn’t only come from a feeling of superiority (which to be sure is also a big factor), because he has no idea where he comes from until he meets his sister. I don’t think the jedi as a whole were unsalvageable by any stretch of the imagination, but Yoda specifically… you are on such very thin ice with me at this point you little green fuck. You’re very funny and moving in yoda dark rendezvous and that’s all that’s keeping you in my somewhat good graces.)
- Okay, coming back a bit later I think I’ve found the right words to say this. more precisely dooku has two big issues which you can later see haunting all the way down his lineage — loneliness and control. (and not incidentally the intersecting elements of the two haha.) We see from his relationship to sifo-dyas that he’s not incapable of having close mutual relationships with an equal, but that kind of crashed and burned for reasons neither of them could really help and after that it seems quite telling that he has the easiest time with deeper connection in a teacher-student sort of form. I think his affection is unconditional and real, but you can’t get away from the fact that he also has the most control in that relationship structure by default, he gets to dictate what form it takes to a big extent. He doesn’t trust other people — the underlying idea ‘Only I can do this’ that eventually leads him down the Separatist path is there the whole way. It speaks both to a sense of superiority and an utter lack of faith that other people can or will help him. And then that echoes down through the master-padawan line:
Qui-Gon with his self-righteousness and utter refusal to compromise leaving him isolated among the jedi (only he is right. Yeah the Force told him so. Don’t worry I’ve got a permit *insert parks and rec I can do whatever I want meme here*), Obi-Wan with his anxiety and perfectionism and incredible sense of shame and responsibility that he should be able to carry the whole world on his shoulders alone and beating himself up for failing, all feeding into not knowing what to do with Anakin and his complete lack of control of himself and his desperation to gain and maintain connection and love (which earns him the title of ‘Dooku’s least favorite family member’ fhdsa his immediate disdain for him is so funny and so in character. Repress and go slowly mad like a normal person anakin the way you’re carrying on is just undignified and that is much worse than being evil)…
- Rael gently telling Dooku to take on another padawan soon… so sweet, so sad, local cowboy jedi looking out for his dad. Also highlights something about Dooku I think is true: that he does much better and seems to have an easier time holding to the light when he’s responsible for someone else. Again, I do feel like Dooku’s core problem is loneliness, but it seems like raising kids is the one point where that relaxes somewhat. Maybe if Sifo-Dyas had stayed in a better mental place and they kept in touch it could have been different.
- Lene Kostana is SUCH a character! Charismatic and deeply fucked up, when it’s revealed how her and Sifo-Dyas’ relationship remains long after his padawan stage is done I felt a little bit sick, to my surprise. Because that could just be kindness on her part, of course, it’s good that he has someone he trusts to look after him when he can’t himself, but also there’s something… queasy about the way it keeps him continually young, in a way. (Notably he still calls her ‘master’ even as an adult, when they’re working together. Not uncommon in Star Wars, of course, but together with everything else going on vibes-wise… hm.) The inherent unreliable narration of this story really worked for me in this regard especially — do we know that young Dooku was entirely wrong when he sensed the dark side in her? She certainly is willing to go to lengths that are… worrying! in her fascination with sith shit, she tempted children into a dangerous place they didn’t understand and couldn’t know the consequences of and she continually puts sifo-dyas in situations that are implied to be a risk to worsening his condition. Run of the mill incredibly irresponsible at best, sincerely sinister at worst. Did she choose Sifo over Dooku because he’s more vulnerable and shapeable? There is an undercurrent of something icky and emotionally incest-y going on with how she relates to Dooku and Sifo-Dyas in general (right down to the ‘NO, no one can know about this’ intensity after the… evil moss cave. I can’t believe I’m this emotional about a book with an evil moss cave). I don’t think she’s a proper sith in any way and I also believe there is real affection there on all sides, but idk something about the whole thing makes me deeply uneasy. Yoda where the fuck are you your son is out there with his irresponsible mom again they’re looking for dirty needles in haystacks and they’re not even wearing any gloves
- dooku telling sifo-dyas he can come back to haunt him if he likes as a joke… well well well I’m sure that doesn’t ring with some dramatic irony at some point down the line lmao
- honestly looking back at master and apprentice after reading jedi lost makes qui-gon's apparent lack of reaction to dooku leaving seem — let's call it highly suspect haha. rael asks him if he's spoken to dooku after and qui-gon is like 'no. why would I. it's literally fine. anyway this topic is done now'. (and rael seems to just go ‘*older brotherly knowing* uh-huh’) meanwhile he's thinking about dooku *all the time* trying to figure out his role as master to obi-wan, thinking about being a padawan himself, the parts of his life he shared with both dooku and rael. The jedi doth protest too much methinks
ALSO how much of qui-gon thinking the council was too lenient with rael after he had to kill his padawan is about that actual situation, and how much is a ‘our family still likes my older brother more than me even though he Fucked Up so bad and breaks just as many rules as I do’ sort of deal mixed with his own neuroses about how he’s failing obi-wan (to which rael’s situation symbolizes the worst possible outcome, i.e. the kid dies and it’s basically your fault). Many thoughts.
- moment of silence for jenza of house serenno. Girl your only sin was being surrounded by asshole male family members and I’m so sorry I think you did all you could with what you had to work with here.
Not… entirely sure how dooku’s claim to the title supersedes hers — is he a year older than her? (she’s eleven when they first meet, he might be twelve or older at that point I don’t remember haha) Does she just give up her place in the inheritance order? Are primogeniture and male heir preference factors in Serenno inheritance law? Not the most important thing honestly it works anyway thematically but could have been clarified quickly!
- interesting to see that the council’s restrictive policy against engaging with prophecies had a surprisingly big impact on how things went down. Kostana has a lot of responsibility in Sifo’s fate for insisting he keep it secret, but there is genuine fear for what might become of him if the rest of the order finds out he’s got 24/7 futurevision hovering over him threateningly… listen it’s not like the poor guy can help getting the future constantly pumped into his brain at nightmare resolutions, I think maybe if there had been more willingness to at least engage curiously with the concept of prophecy and how it works, even if you don’t put your faith in the particulars of what the prophecies say, this wouldn’t have had to be such a shitty isolated secretive life for him. hearing him slowly fall apart over the years considering how bright and lovely he started out... oof is all I can say
- when dooku was a good jedi he was such a good jedi!!! The scene where they’re saving the kids from the collapsing hospital, every time he teaches his students anything…the impulse of someone has to do something about this! that made him so good at saving lives turning dark with the tarnish of frustration and rage over the years… nooooooooo problematic grandpa why did it have to be like this :(
- …do you think infant jedi can sense what’s going on around them in the Force. Because it makes a very sad kind of sense if dooku on some level remembers bodily or in the Force that he was not only abandoned but rejected in disgust as one of the first things he discovered in the world. Oh boy. With all the ways attachment relationships can go wonky in the first few years in real life I don’t even want to consider how much more wrong it can go when the baby is fucking psychic lol
- vaguely related: the way dooku seems to find the very idea of being truly reliant on anyone, emotionally or otherwise, personally offensive, terrifying and humiliating lol. Yoda saves him from being crushed by rubble and he is outraged because that means he can’t save himself (and his newfound sister) without anyone’s help like he thought for one glorious moment he could. The fantasy of perfect emotional self-sufficiency, doing away with all the messiness and risk of interpersonal relationships and cutting off the possibility of really being abandoned again. It’ll get ya every time. This is also a thing you see reflected in his lineage — they’re all quite inward-turning that way until you get to anakin, to different extents and with varying presentations but it is there I think. Qui-Gon turns to the Force, Obi-Wan to perfectionism and shame and rumination, Rael to the bottle and depression and hedonistic apathy, but they all struggle hugely with letting anyone in to help them. Dooku’s line are all much more comfortable being the helpers rather than the helpees, as it were.
- “Thank you for everything, Lene. Tell Rael and Qui-Gon — tell them… tell them the Force will be with them, always”
Emotional terrorism against me specifically and personally. You asshole you just excused yourself from the non-attachment rules there’s literally nothing in the world except you to stop you from reaching out and telling your children you love them yOURSELF why are you like this
- the recurring theme of dooku seeing something beautiful (the tree in the temple, the tirra’taka as a child and an adult) and ending up lashing out to destroy it… but the tree was old and mighty and he was young and new and couldn’t truly harm it, so he was saved from his own impulsivity. And then when he sees the tirra’taka as an adult he loves it immediately. And in the end he still mangles and destroys it. He didn’t mean to, but he did. He woke it up and hurt it just by existing as a child and then he had to kill it as a mercy because he was too powerful at that point for anything to buffer his mistakes. The parallel with the bird he loved that he also couldn’t protect. He starts out with an aching loneliness somewhere at the core of him through no real fault of his own but by the end it is entirely his own fault that it’s worse, because he starts wrecking everything he loves in an almost absent-minded but definitely intentional way, like it’s a nightmare he’s listening to through the door as it happens in the next room over. He really IS the ‘I just felt like destroying something beautiful’ central of the jedi.
at the end qui-gon is dead and through dooku’s own influence, however indirectly. Rael has had to turn away from him. Sifo-Dyas is dead on Dooku’s own orders and so is his sister, he might as well have done it with his own hands. (though I think it’s very interesting that in each case he didn’t do it with his own hands, he consistently uses a middleman.) He lives within the coldness of his sterile empty castle and horrifically mistreats the one person he might have found something like connection with the way he did with his students before (Ventress), deliberately trapping her in a similar state of utter desolate isolation and telling her, essentially, ‘We’re like this as people and nothing can be done to change it. We can’t escape, we’re already doomed, stop trying, it’s too late. You are just like me (and if you aren't already I'll make you like me)’. And that’s the closest thing he gets to love anymore. When he accused Ky of using her ‘as a salve for his own loneliness’ and you’re like well well well mr projection man how’s that working out for you. He is completely, shatteringly alone and he is so entirely as a consequence of his own actions and he's too far gone to understand or care. I’m howling you useless fucking FOOL dooku
- dooku 🤝 john gaius
“Hm. I have observed that there are in fact many flaws in our society and the government is deeply corrupt. So if I kill a few billion people here and there in order to fix it, is that not basically okay when you really think about it”
Dooku making salient points about the political and ethical failures of the Republic and then, just when you think he’s onto something, he goes and makes The wildest fucking decisions about what to do about it. Sure. dark magic and genocide are probably the only ways out of this you’re so right bro. If we make enough minuses to add together surely we’ll end up in plus sooner or later
- *head in my hands once more* I can’t believe I am genuinely emotionally invested in someone called Count Dooku with the looks of a knockoff dracula and ultimate moral character to match right now this is terrible. hey. hey dooks. what you have to go and fuck everything up so bad for huh I’m so incredibly sad now
there is something to be said about how getting to see glimpses of what dooku looked like in the light makes it so much more heartwrenching that he never came back. he could have, a thousand times. and every time he chose not to.

Hello my favorite SW writer! I was rereading Fox's Bucket List (incredible, iconic, immeasurably satisfying) and wondered which Jedi you think could be the best master for a force-sensitive Fox?
Mace of course could do an excellent job, but then the idea of Fox learning all of Jon's unhinged Force techniques? Amazing. Terrifying. The galaxy would never recover.
.....I almost want to say Depa, because she would be a gremlin chaos enabler while also making sure he knew how to look incredibly dignified and composed at all times. For deniability, you know?
Though I think a Yoda-trained Fox would also be incredibly delightful, even if no one would survive the experience.

Reiner birthday hcs because I'm sick in the head
Y/N's Birthday specifically (and also modern!au because it's more fun)
- reiner absolutely cannot WAIT to wish u a happy birthday. Calls you at 12:00 AM on the dot and sings u happy birthday like it's his gotdamn birthright. voice is all gravelly and sleepy and shit. "did you stay up just to wish me happy birthday?" "no I set an alarm for 11:30 and hit snooze every 5 minutes so I wouldn't fall back to sleep"
- can't be with u during the day because he's working but takes every opportunity to send u little birthday emojis and shitty little Facebook stickers
- specifically the sugar cubs iykyk
- can't bake so he orders one of those fancy pre-made Walmart cakes well in advance. 100% has your favorite IP on it ((gabis idea)).
- walks into ur house shortly after work with his lil baby yoda/pokemon/hello kitty cake cradled in his arms, immaculately wrapped gifts under each arm (he rewrapped at least 3 times to get it perfect)
- gabi and falco trailing in behind him because he picked them up from middle school. gabis all "this better be a good party because I'm missing softball practice"
- it's quaint and nice and you're technically babysitting but u wouldn't have it any other way. the look of despair on reiners face when he gets hit with all of falcos draw 4 cards in uno is priceless
- soon the kids settle down and go play mario kart or something. just u and reiner alone cleaning up in the kitchen and dining room. u love the hubbub of the little gremlins but this is just as wonderful, if not more so
- he wraps his arms around you as your wiping down the table "sorry I couldn't do more on a work day baby. promise I'll make it up to you." like this wasn't super fun and perfect as is. "this is wonderful, rei. you don't need to worry about it."
- but of course he does worry about it. picks u up on a free weekend for a nice dinner. brings flowers, buys a bottle of wine, checks everything off the list. not everyone gets two perfect birthdays, but with reiner you do
- he drives you home, the world is quiet and tiny in his little beater of a car. the top of his head grazes the ceiling and a bump in the road would probably leave a bruise. god he's adorable
- he parks the car and absolutely BOLTS from the driver's seat to get the door for you. an absolute gentleman, walks you to your front door, gives you a chaste kiss. "happy birthday sweetheart" u grab him by the tie, pull him in for more. no resistance from him, that's for sure
- "I know you're just being romantic with those butterfly kisses, rei. but if it's really my birthday, I'm gonna need a little more than that."
- and who is he to deny you?

In a gffa with no order 66, where Anakin leaves the order (because you know, he doesn’t really want to be there, he wants to go be a senator’s arm candy), Ahsoka needs a new master to complete her training (because she comes back to the order because they are her family and she wants to be there).
The right answer: Obi-wan. They love each other, they are family, let them heal their relationship.
The better answer: Luminara Unduli. They had a good rapport when they worked together in TCW. But these two need to heal from betrayals and hurts that few others in the order can understand. Let Master Unduli temper Ahsoka’s more impulsive qualities. Let Ahsoka breath new life into Master Unduli’s spirit (we don’t see her after Barriss’s fall, but you can’t convince me she wasn’t big sad and maybe Ahsoka’s special brand of snippiness can help).
The best answer: Quinlan Vos. Let chaos reign. Set them after the corruption in the senate. Let their exposed biceps strike fear (and a few other confusing feelings) into their adversaries. Let Ahsoka and Aayla be sisters who drink too much wine and gossip. Let everyone wonder why Master Yoda allowed so many gremlins into one lineage (because Master Yoda is also a gremlin and things had gotten so boring since his last favorite gremlin retired to become full time arm candy). Let us still have Obi-wan look like he is 75 by the age of 54 because of the stress their after action reports cause.

(trying to find the right poses)
What would you say are the preferred lightsaber forms of our dearly beloved disaster trio? (and also Mary and Shannon)
For me, I can see Beatrice switching between the elegance of Makashi and the unbreaking wall of Soresu (the little overachiever would of course be more than capable of using more than one form) (and that fight in chapter 2 of LB had total Soresu vibes from Bea).
And Ava, who is always so aware/absorbed/active in the Force, I can see leaning more into Niman to compensate between use of the force and the actual physical demands of the form. Or maybe Ataru, because of how she already automatically leans into the Force to enhance her natural movements, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch for her to take it further in her lightsaber form (and also the little energizer bunny isn't exactly the type to stay contained. she totally has ketamine-gremlin-yoda vibes)
Lilith, I can see with Forms V or VII (or both, considering her proficiency with a blade). I can see her leaning into the physicality required for Shien/Djem So, as well as the practicality of it for both saber and blaster combat. But also Juyo, for the aggressive chaos and sheer strength of body, mind, and will it requires to sustain (and I cannot unsee the parallels between her and Maul).
What do you think?
oh you are wonderful for getting me thinking seriously about this. i trained in kendo for years as a kid, so usually i meld that and my karate to write (sword)fighting scenes, but this is giving me so much more to work with.
so, thinking on the lighsaber form of the star wars au cast:
Mary would definitely use form 5. probably both variations. she fought extensively during the Clone Wars & would have seen the value in a lightsaber form that prioritised deflecting blaster bolts over duelling.
she wouldn’t have gravitated towards Soresu, i think, because she is naturally more aggressive than that, and she wants options available to her for initiating conflict, as opposed to responding to it. Shien is excellent for fighting in battlefield conditions. like Soresu in its emphasis on deflecting blaster bolts, but also more assertive - often redirecting those bolts into other opponents, or environmental hazards.
the Djem So side of things she would be less, but still somewhat, practiced in. she'd see the value in aggressive close combat duelling tactics, but ultimately her preference is for Shien. Djem So is her go-to for fighting other lightsaber-users though, because it offers a solid set of options, but relies less on the kind of wild acrobatics that many other Jedi employ.
she is not so accomplished at Djem So as in Shien, mostly because she’s not a natural duelist, specialising in battlefield command, usually fighting among Republic Clone Troopers. Mary also, even before Order 66, carried and used a blaster in addition to her lightsaber.
Shannon: Soresu. Shannon is a very Obi-Wan Kenobi/ Luke Skywalker character. she’s dedicated to the beliefs of the Jedi - she is about balance, harmony, hence why she has a green saber - and Soresu exemplifies the Jedi philosophy.
it is also incredibly useful in a variety of situations (all about exposing minimal targets to the enemy, thinking of Luke practicing en-route to Alderaan); it’s resilliant and adaptable, and as a diplomat - probably one of the few Jedi who were called in to deal with complex scientific issues (read: the time when Shannon ended up in a star wars equivalent of the movie “Alien” along with Mary, back in their early days together) Shannon would have favoured Soresu as a defensive form.
she’s a self-sacrificial sort of person, too, and you can see Soresu in the way that she defends Ava from Crimson in chapter 1 (an echo of Obi-Wan in A New Hope). i think she almost took Niman after mastering form 1 back in her padawan days, but something (Mary) changed her mind about spending 10 years studying it.
Bea: oh! i definitely think that Bea is melding different forms together (certainly she’s borrowing aspects from her Jedi and her Sith training).
so yes, she uses Makashi on the Sith side of things (because it is Lilith who retrains her in the lightsaber after she is tortured; she has to adapt to her shattered elbow, which will always be weak. hence why Makashi - a (frequently) one-handed fighting style - is an ideal style for her to fall back).
i think she is trained in Soresu, but she had to abandon it - again, because of her injury - though she retains the tactical instincts of that style, despite adapting to a more aggressive outlook. Soresu requires too much dual-dexterity.
instead of Soresu, Bea picks up Ataru. the force-assisted acrobatics and the fluidity of it suit her perfectly - plus the aggression. she’s all about sliding through an opponent’s space, slipping past their guard, or simply coming at them from an angle they don’t expect. the combo of Makashi - THE duelling form - and Ataru would i think be Potent. both elegant, but Makashi playing into her calculating, strategic side - all about the footwork and controlling yourself AND your foe - plus the explosive power of Ataru and also its use of the Force, which, as we all know, Beatrice is incredibly powerful with. bringing out the blunt-force side of her fighting instincts. i think the ch 2 pit fight showcased her ability to balance aggression with manipulation, and also to come at her opponent with vicious speed and end the fight swiftly and efficiently (a hallmark of Ataru)
Lilith: you’re totally right. i think 100% Lilith would use form 7 - and Juyo specifically. she’s not trained in the same way as others, & i think was pretty swiftly thrown into battle after mastering form 1 and being taught elements of Makashi (which she later perfected, just because she could) but in her heart she’s a form 7 practitioner.
it requires both immense aggression, a level of viciousness, and also a focus on emotion and domination. i think from what we see of Lilith’s fighting style she is MUCH more brutal than Beatrice (her fight style resembles Kenpo karate)
Juyo is described in one of the novels as a form filled with “malignant grace” <- could we describe darling dearest Lil any better?? in ch. 2 her leaping attack really exemplifies the sudden volatility of form 7.
it also requires a lot of internalised Force energy, which, considering Lilith’s unique relationship with the Force (and her augmentation with magick) would be ideal for her. it also LOOKS messy, but it is, in fact, astonishing grace hidden inside of staccato movements. considering Some Plans i have, that would suit Lilith perfectly - yes, she seems like an untamed thing, but she is in fact as deft and calculated as Beatrice, and Juyo allows her to use her fury to her advantage, and also her overwhelming physical prowess, because she really IS probably the most physically adept out of all of them.
Ava: i think for Ava i spoke in ch 1 about her being absolutely angelic with the lightsaber, and also Ava knows physics. she loves acrobatics and she ADORES aerial acrobatics, specifically - particularly aviation and ship manoeuvers. she knows g-forces and how not to pass out while pitching and rolling in atmosphere.
so i think she is a pure Ataru practitioner. form 4, with its focus on acrobatics and dynamic movement, would appeal to her desire to move and to fly and to be rooted anywhere but into the ground. it is also incredibly offensive (a good echo of Ava’s ‘i’m more of a punch-first type girl’ comment). and it DOES emphasise the force, but specifically for movement.
i think Ava, depending a lot of Shannon’s incredibly Force-abilities, would lean into the more embodied side of the Force - speed, agility, and a no-holds-barred offence would absolutely suit Ava - though, of course, Ataru is really incredibly dependent on the practitioner’s strong connection to the Force, which early-star wars au Ava does not have.
but yes the quickness of it, the jumping and the almost phasing through space with Force-enhanced speed, all of it would suit Ava. i think, probably, she will have to adjust eventually to learn some techniques for dealing efficiently with blaster-bolts and projectiles. i think also there’s an extent to which Ava’s use of Ataru is tempered somewhat by her training in Soresu, from Shannon. i think she leaned into the beauty and the ferociousness of Ataru, but now that she doesn’t have her Master anymore there’ll be an element of melding those styles together, learning to protect herself because Shannon - who always, always protected her - has stood between Ava and her death for the last time.

Your SW/AtLA pics are wonderful and the Anakin one caught me some kind of way (I mean it's perfectly apt, but boy is that some foreshadowing). Also, I nominate Yoda for cackling gremlin Earthbender (I can absolutely see Toph fistbumping him)
thank you!!!! and oh my god you’re so right that’s perfect for him

here’s weirder asks: ACCEPTING
II @dontcxckitup-m
Tumblr media
1.who is/are your comfort character(s)?
//Oooh I have a number of them, but I guess the main are Richard (obviously), Indiana Jones, Winnie The Pooh, and Baby Yoda, Ellie and Joel from Last of Us. I have others, but those are the ones I could think of for now!//
6.why did you do that?
//............. 👀 for umm.... very important and totally not sketchy reasons??? 👀👀👀👀 now shut up and take a shovel and help me dig 👀👀👀//
11.favorite extracurricular activity?
//As a kid I really loved baking and my singing lessons. Yes, I took singing lessons for 12 years shhhhh 🤭 I also did a summer theatre workshop which was pretty fun!//
21.something you’ve kept since childhood?
//A majority of stuff I have in my room are from my childhood hehe! But some of the main ones are-- 2 of my favourite stuffed toys as a kid (a small dalmation and this little doll/purse thing ), my book of Velveteen Rabbit (which was my favourite book as a kid), all of my Ology Collection books... There’s more but I just forgot lol//
24.if we were together on a rooftop, what would we be doing?
//Pushing each other off 🌚 jk jk Honestly, besides trying to stop me from probably petting a bird or smth, we’d probably be doing stuff we always do whenever we hang out 💕-- (Talk a lot. Make really dumb jokes together and laugh a ton. Plan future threads + angst. Swoon over films, our actor crushes. Try and survive my puns. 😊) and maybe star watching (cause stars are cool) and playing a game of eye-spy from all the way up there? Oh, and we’d probably have snacks and drinks or smth with us up there ‘cause heyyyy the more food the better 😌💕//
31.what type of music keeps you grounded?
//I think it depends on what I’m doing? Usually if I need to calm down, or if I need to concentrate while I study it’s mainly different music soundtracks. If it involves working out then I have a few other songs, but it’s mainly The Pirates of the Caribbean Soundtrack 😂//
32.do you have a favorite towel?
//Is it weird that I do???? 😅 It’s just this plain, blue towel, but for some reason it just feels a lot softer than the others ahaha//
40.did you have any snacks today?
//I diiiid, actually! Got myself a chocolate donut on the way back from my walk 🤤//
46.favorite holiday film?
//For Halloween: Hocus Pocus. Over The Garden Wall. Dead and Loving it. The Awakening. Trick R’ Treat.  Christmas: Its a Wonderful Life. Love Actually. Gremlins (hush). Klaus. Home Alone//
48.when did you first try an alcohol beverage?
//I probably first tried alcohol at a lunch probably in my grandmother’s house, when I was about 8-ish I think. I mean, not a full glass or anything, but she always had these copitas, which are just basically, baby-sized wine glasses, and she’d always pour us a little bit with our food 🤤 But if you mean as in officially drinking, then probably when I was 15 or smth at a party!//

BNHA season 2 stain arc next! The second half of the season~
My review of Season 2 part 2:
Oh boy, every introverts worst nightmare; social interaction. If I was in deku's situation, I would've acted like I didn't knew wit the man was talking about www
Iida stop lying to your friends please TOT
Yay aizawa isn't a mummy lol. I still can't believe deku only got 1 offer, like cmon, even zero has more than him. Also, mineta shut the fuck up, like you're any better
LMAO aizawa warning them to be careful with their choice of hero name cuz of his own experience
Hero name time!! Omfg aoyama's hero name I can't 😭😭 thank you tsu for being normal www
Aww lil deku comin up with all might themed names, tho ngl a lil embarrassing if he chose one of em
Ok the fact that denki knows who Hemingway, an American novelist, shows that he might not be academically smart, but he's not entirely stupid. Headcanon that he reads english books on his free time
Hhhhh great flashback to tensei q-q, nooo iida pls you deserve to take on the name
LMAO bakugo not being able to keep a hero name he's came up with 😂
Mineta, why tf are you still here... Ofc he'd go for mt. Lady
Pft all might being terrified of grand tornino, wonder how hard his training was under him
Oh god... Iida off to do a dumb decision...
Hhhh iida pls they're your friends, but this is what happens when you're being powered by the need for vengeance
Omg I forgot about the first introduction to grand torino LMAO and him pretending to be a feeble old man with a bad memory, he's an old gremlin that can kick ass, he's like yoda but sassy www
And now deku getting his ass handed to him, srsly how tf is his back not broken, I mean with the speed grand torino goes at, it would at least crack somethin
Ah yes, bakugo and best jeanist, good luck in trying to stitch in some manners in this boy lol
LMAO poor Momo and Kendo, thinking they'll get to do some action pact crime fighting stuff when in actuality they're just gonna model
Oh boy, endeavor... Yeah you tell him shoto!!
Deku treating his quirk like something that isn't his makes a lot of sense, since he's never really had a quirk before so he doesn't really see it as an extension of himself. Gotta love seeing a protagonist that's powerful but obviously has a long way to go and still needs training to hone their skills
BAHAHA BAKUGO'S HAIR 😭😭
Oh shit, the whole nomu situation and the multiple quirks thing. I kinda feel bad for the people that get turned to nomus, like pretty sure they didn't want to lose all sense of self
"Someone as crazy as this" that's rich coming from you shigaraki.
Oh god iida no... I get ur going through some emotional shit and want justice, but u don't wanna be a murderer, even if this is a villain
"We're not going to go after anyone that big" ya jinxed yourself grand torino
Thank you mister blue guy that iida is interning under whose name I can't remember for trying to put some sense into him
OH SHIT TIME FOR SOME ACTION! GO KICK SOME NOMU ASS GRAND TORINO!!
Iida nooo he's so tunneled vision for vengeance...
Endeavor is a terrible parent, but dammit he's good at his job as a hero, minus the being nice part
I still don't really see how tensei wasn't a good hero, I mean from what I could tell he was definitely living up to the title of "hero". No matter, DEKU ZOOMING IN TO SAVE THE DAY!! YEAH SHOTO ALSO COMING IN TO SAVE SOME ASS!!!
EW OH GOD I FORGOT ABOUT CLOSE UP ON THE LICKING EW
God this whole fight is just amazing, this is where deku and shoto become actual friends and iida gets some sense into him
Shoto and iida bonding over their shared past narrowed tunnel vision out of absolute resentment
"BECOME THE HERO HE WANTED YOU TO BE" now look whose giving the inspirational words! Shoto has learned a lot from deku lol
YEAH GET UP IIDA BACK ON YOUR FEET SOLDIER GO SAVE SHOTO FROM GETTING AMPUTATED! Oh and a cool kick flip too!
iida as the legs, deku as the arms, and shoto as the body, love these 3
Ya know, I realized that they still kinda treat nomus as if they're actually human, like they still arrest them and try to talk to ee. Which ig makes sense since there are mutant quirks and anyone can look like anything, so the whole reveal that nomus aren't human - well not anymore at least - would be a much bigger deal, even though it is kinda obvious
"My friend might be in danger" THE FIRST TIME HE SAYS THEY'RE FRIENDS YESSS
Ok damn giving some vocals onto endeavor's song aight then
Gotta appreciate that the pro heroes, adults, are being responsible and making sure the interns, teenagers, are safe. Yeah they're hero students, but they're still kids
"Our fight against the hero killer probably only took about 10 minutes" that was only 10 minutes??? Damn time feels a lot different when kicking ass huh
OH SHIT FLYING NOMU! OH SHIT DEKU!! OH GROSS THE TONGUE!!! OH FUCK STAIN TO THE RESCUE??
Oh boy stain's final speech... And also creepy ass face reveal, never noticed he doesn't actually have a nose
Oh lol it's the dog man cop www woof
I get that they're trying to avoid the abuse of quirks (which feels a lil dumb considering what happens in the future) but also, iida was going to die along with that other pro hero, like what else were they going to do?? They're kids yes, but the fact that they are means that using their quirks was literally the only thing they could do. Also mentioning shoto's dad like that really didn't feel necessary jeez
Lmao yeah shoto, the dog cop would've started with that
"Was that a boy~" LMAO GUNHEAD
Hhhh oh boy, these children need therapy I swear. But thank god for shoto breaking the ice, the hand crusher www
Oh fuckkk stain inadvertently helped shigaraki get what he wanted, which I think might've not been wat he meant to do but oh well
Now time to see everyone else's internship!
Bakugo my dude you are not cut out in making the public feel safe ya dumbass. Uraraka learning hand to hand combat! Poor Momo and kendo, barely get to do actual heroing. Tho the same could be said for kirishima and tetsutetsu, but at least it's an activity that's actually helping the community. But hey at least jirou seems to be actually doing some action pact heroing
Froppy your sense of cute is very different from everyone else's, including mine www
LMAO BAKUGO'S HAIR 😂
Denki thinking stain was cool, another lil tid bit of info in the suspecting he is the UA traitor
Eyy spiderman doing what he's good at! But deku's learned a few new tricks too- oop and he slips lol
WHY IS MINETA STILL HERE?? HE IS A HAZARD TO PRIVACY I SWEAR
Ah time to drop a info bomb. First time we actually get conformation and explanation on nomus, one for all, and all for one
Looking back on all this, I realized just exactly how much pressure there is on deku, like he's being entrusted to defeat this who-knows-how-old villain and he's just 15 like boi
Ah yes, Mt. Lady and Midnight interaction. Mineta fuck off
Huh didn't realize that the ranking thing was actually from midterms, thought that was the actual ranking of the written test. Lmao gotta love momo, we all need that smart friend in our life. Oh I did not notice this lil kiribaku interaction >.> tho that's a good way to make him tutor you www
Monoma has a really interesting way to show his concern for the safety of his people when it comes to the danger 1A attracts, like he said it in a way to insult them but he was also pointing out how if they keep this up they'll be endangering those around them. But they can't really help it tho, so he can't be mad at them for that, just his feelings of rivalry getting in the way as usual
Bakugo at it again with his anger issues and overachieving complex (is that what you call it)
Written exam monologue~
LMAO NEZU JUST CHILLING IN AIZAWA'S SCARF THAT'S ADORABLE
Teaching them that retreating is a valid option is really important, because they gotta learn that retreating can be used as a good strategy to get reinforcements when they're in a fight they can't win. A lesson bakugo really needs to learn
Kiri & Sato vs Cementos. Gotta say, they weren't very smart on how'd they deal with cementos. Like, he clearly has the advantage in this scenario
Tsu & Tokoyami vs Ectoplasm. THE HYBRID DUO!! Bird man and frog girl! "Tho apparently after a 2nd or 3rd song in karaoke, that number goes up.." LMAO WHAT I NEVER NOTICED THAT. Huh, I always thought tokoyami could do the whole fusing with dark shadow the whole time, or maybe that's my gold fish memory failing me. Oh hey! Tsu did actually ate the handcuffs, like it was shown for just a short second. Lmao gotta love dark shadow's personality
Iida & Ojiro vs Power Loader. LMAO OJIRO RIDING IIDA I CAN'T😭 and iida basically being a beyblade and yeeting him too www
Shoto & Momo vs Aizawa. Dawww momo... Her insecurities and doubt be hitting her, damn that's a mood. Oof, yeah aizawa has a point, shoto need to learn better communication with his partner and momo's gotta learn to trust herself again; not comparing herself to someone completely different. YASSS GO QUEEN!! SHOW EM WHAT YOU'RE MADE OF!!! Lmao, shoto no she's just tearing up a lil, she's not sick
Uraraka & Aoyama vs 13. PFFT I DIDN'T REALIZE AOYAMA MADE A PUN. Ah yes, the moment uraraka realized her feelings, thanks sparkle man. "I'm a mini battle hero" lol yes you are
Mina & Denki vs Nezu. God those 2 didn't stood a chance, like what were the teachers expecting. BRUH THEY REALLY JUST CASUALLY MENTION NEZU'S BACKSTORY LIKE THAT😭
Jirou & Koda vs Present Mic. OH DAMN THAT IS LOUD, RIP MY EARS. As much as koda's charades were funny, would've been nice to see him doing like JSL or something, like would be in character and some neat representation, oh well this is why we have headcanons. Hey, just cuz koda can speak with animals doesn't mean he has to like all of them
Hagakure & Shoji vs Snipe. Still find it fucking hilarious that this man's quirk is the power of glock, like it's not even an mutation, he just carries a gun. "YOU'RE A STUDENT I RESPECT WOMEN" LMAO SNIPE 😂😭 AS HE SHOULD
Sero & Mineta vs Midnight. I said it before and I'll say it again, why tf is mineta even here, he is a menace and a danger to the safety of the girls, like bruh. If he's gonna be in UA at least show him getting into detention for his behavior. Huh, lil bastard finally gets what being a hero is about, tho he still has a long way to go on the character development, like idk respecting boundaries
HOOO BOY IT'S THE BIG ONE NOW LETS GO
Deku & Bakugo vs All Might. THE MAIN COURSE HAS COME. God dammit bakugo, please I get you wanna win but you can't beat all might, for fuck sake get it in ur head and stop thinking with your ego. Hold up, why does a building have denki's name lmao??? BAHAHA LOL DEKU PUNCHING HIM, BAKUGO DESERVED IT. You said it all might, these 2 really need some counciling like boi. OOF HOW ARE THEY BOTH STILL ALIVE LIKE THAT LOOKED LIKE IT COULD'VE KILLED THEM?! Bakugo is someone that wins the way he wants to win no matter what, and deku is someone that just helps people even if they don't ask for it, this is just who they are. This is why they clash a lot, and a few other reasons. Tho they'll learn to have some equal footing, some day
LMAO deku with his ass up, and damn bakugo looks so peaceful asleep tf??
IT'S FUCKING DABI, hello missing todoroki child (started as a theory and is now confirmed, thanks spoilers) tho gotta say his voice isn't as deep as I remember it
Shopping montage✨ omg mineta PLEASE, WHO INVITED HIM??
Jeez shigiraki's theme song thing is creepy as hell. OH FUCK IT'S THAT CREEPY SMILE HHHH
Hol up it's only been 3 months since class started??? Damn, feels a bit short

Magic Potion
Anakin asks Yoda how to stop death and Yoda gives him a magic potion that prevents people from dying for twelve hours after they drink it. Anakin takes it to Padmé and forces her to drink it every twelve hours. Since he has to make sure Padmé drinks the magic potion on time, Mace gets to decapitate Palpatine without being rudely interrupted. Padmé is very patient.
The magic potion is Yoda's bottle of maple syrup.
My new Star Wars hot take: the only mistake Yoda made was not trolling Anakin in the middle of RotS
“I won’t let these visions come true, Master Yoda.”
“Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those around you, who transform into the Force. Mourn them, do not. Miss them, do not. Attachment leads to jealousy, the shadow of greed, that is.”
“What must I do, Master Yoda?”
“Train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose.” Anakin looked away. Yoda sensed the resentment, and that after thirteen years of training, Anakin was still refusing to accept this. Perhaps it was time to humor him.
The wise gremlin grumbled with the weight of a thousand years and rose from his seat. Leaning on his cane, he hobbled step by step over to a chest. He closed his eyes and Anakin sensed him turn the hidden lock with the Force. The chest creaked gently as it opened. Amidst his anxiety and anticipation, Anakin considered offering to oil the hinges if Yoda gave him something useful.
Yoda cradled an item in his hands. Reverently, he unwrapped the velvet cloth and revealed a glass bottle, enclosing rich amber liquid, sealed in by a simple, but beautiful, glass stopper. Yoda traced the profile with his claw. Finally, he murmured. “Hmm. Trust you, I can?”
”Of course, Master Yoda.” Anakin tried not to sound too eager. He couldn’t risk Yoda changing his mind.
”Hmm. Very potent, this elixir is. Very rare. Only a spoonful at a time, may one consume. Provide life, it will. Prevent death, even. But only for a brief time after consumption.”
“How long?”
“Half of a rotation.” Anakin nodded, already planning.
“Use your wisdom, you must, young Jedi.”
Anakin leaped from his speeder onto the veranda. “Padmé! Where are you!? I need a spoon!”
“Ani? What’s wrong?” Padmé’s voice called from the stairs, “Why do you need a spoon?”
Blast. What were the rules of this? What size spoon should he use? A Yoda-sized spoon? A human-sized spoon? Could it be any spoon as long as it was a full spoon? He should have asked more questions. But there was no time for questions. Padmé’s life was at stake. “You need to take a spoonful of this elixir!”
She followed him into the kitchen where he was pushing her droid staff out of his way. “Anakin, what is going on? I don’t even know what it is. Is it safe for the baby?”
Well. He didn’t know what it was either, just that it would protect Padmé. And Yoda didn’t say anything about babies. Of course, neither did he, but if it provided life and prevented death, it couldn’t hurt. Yoda would never endanger children.
He slowly poured the viscous liquid into a spoon—metal, human-sized—careful not to spill a drop. Padmé opened her mouth to ask another question and he took the opportunity to shove it in. Her eyes went wide and she frowned at him, then surprise swept her face. “It’s sweet. Wait, that tastes really good, I want more.” Still licking the spoon, she reached for the bottle.
“No!” Anakin swiped it away. “You can only consume a spoonful at a time! You have to take another in twelve hours.” Finally becoming irritated with his antics, she demanded to know both why she had to wait and why she had to eat it in the first place.
“It’ll save you from my dreams, Padmé. I won’t lose you.” A ping on his comm interrupted his intensity. “The Chancellor is summoning me. I have to go. I’ll be back in twelve hours.”
As he sped off towards the Senate building, he belatedly wondered if Yoda had given him enough of the elixir to protect Padmé until she gave birth, whenever that was going to be.
  —
“How did Anakin take to his assignment?”
“He wasn’t excited about it. I tried to talk to him, but he looked at the time and ran off muttering something about it having been almost twelve hours.”
“Twelve hours since what?”
“I haven't a clue. Hopefully nothing explosive.”
Yoda distinctly said nothing, positioning himself to appear deep in thought. Soon he would be far away on Kashyyyk and far away from whatever Anakin had done with his gift. Mace and Obi-Wan continued their conversation.
  —
Padmé watched Anakin pour another spoonful of whatever this elixir was. She found it ridiculous but if licking a spoonful of something sweet soothed her husband’s worry, she was happy to oblige him. Perhaps he could put her at ease in return. “Do you ever wonder if we’re on the wrong side?”
“Hold on, 28 seconds.”
“What?”
“21 seconds.”
“Are you really timing this to the second?”
“I’m not going to risk your life, Padmé.” He handed her the spoon but put up a hand for her not to eat it yet. “Seven... six... five... four—”
“Anakin.”
“Okay, you can eat it now. What did you want to talk about?”
She glared at him while licking the spoon.
—
“Tell me Anakin, have you ever heard the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise?”
As Anakin listened to the Chancellor recount the legend, he wondered if this had anything to do with what Yoda had given him. There were many dangerous Sith artifacts guarded in the Temple, perhaps Yoda had been guarding one personally. Did... Yoda give him a Sith artifact? Did he feed a Sith artifact to Padmé?
—
Sith artifact or not, Anakin made sure that Padmé had another spoonful before he left for the Council meeting. He would do whatever it took to keep her.
The Chancellor wanted him to lead the hunt for Grievous. Normally he would be honored, he was the ideal choice for the job, after all, but if he left, he wouldn’t be able to make sure that Padmé stuck to her schedule. While he was angry about being slighted when the Council disagreed and chose to send Obi-Wan instead, he was also relieved.
—
“Know the power of the dark side. The power to save Padmé.”
“I already have your Sith elixir. Padmé is safe. I’m turning you over to the Jedi Council.”
—
He gazed over the city as he waited in the Council Chambers. He found 500 Republica in the skyline, the vast distance between himself and Padmé eating away at his heart. Palpatine’s words were gnawing at his mind. What if it didn’t work? What if Yoda was wrong, what if he was about to lose his real chance to save her? His gaze wandered to the setting sun. Blast. It had almost been twelve hours, he had to make sure Padmé took the elixir on time. Then he could go to Palpatine and figure out his backup plan.
—
Because the Force loves to play games, he never got the chance to find a backup plan. Padmé went into labor early, as is apparently common for twins and he was stuck hoping that Yoda’s elixir and his own power would be enough to save her.
It was completely outrageous and unfair when Padmé tried to kick him out for making her take another spoonful of the elixir halfway through a 15-hour delivery. Fortunately, he was persistent, and Padmé survived.
Now he was sitting at her side, holding his little Leia, and looking over at Luke in Padmé’s arms. He reached for the elixir and started pouring another spoon.
“Anakin, if you make me take one more spoonful of that I’m leaving you here and taking our babies back to Naboo.”
“You could still die, Padmé! There could be all sorts of post-delivery complications.”
“We are surrounded by doctors who all say that I’m fine and are still here in case there’s an emergency.”
“Fine.” He took the spoon and moved it towards Leia’s lips.
“Anakin! You are not giving that to our baby!”
 —
“Still troubled, you are, Anakin.”
Anakin glanced at the floor. He knew the Council was busy cleaning up the mess Palpatine’s decapitated head left, but this was important. “Master Yoda, what must I do to get more of the elixir?”
Yoda gave one of his disappointed grumbles. “Death is a natural part of life. Learn to let go of that which you fear to lose.”
“Master Yoda, I must find more.”
“Hmm. A great trial this quest is, young Skywalker. Certain, are you? That you are up for the challenge?”
The only person in the galaxy who could have missed the mischief in Yoda’s question, Anakin nodded seriously.
“Very well. Begin at the nearest grocery store. Go inside, you must. With the condiments, it will most likely be. If not, near the pancake mix, you will find it. Be sure that the syrup you choose is purely of maple.”

star wars au: almost a year into his life on tatooine, an acquaintance of obi-wan’s tells him about the kids that the residents have seen around for a few days. intrigued by this news, he decides to go investigate. after a few hours of looking around, he eventually finds them hiding behind a building. they’re two kids, one looking around seven standard years old and the other five. the older of the two is a togruta male with red skin and white markings across his cheeks and the sides of his forehead. he wasn’t sure why, but the marks gave the boy sort of a tooka look. the younger boy looked to be a clone cadet, with a scar across the bridge of his nose. upon seeing the jedi, the togruta’s fight or flight instinct kicks in and he ends up biting obi-wan.
after getting the kids to calm down, obi-wan explains who he is and asks to hear the kid’s stories. the togruta had been living here alone with his mother, due to her being a past bounty hunter that now wanted peace with her son. months ago, she had some conversation with a stranger that went south, resulting in her getting murdered in front of the boy’s eyes. the boy, knowing these people were seriously bad news, made a run for it and ended up evading them. ever since, he’s been living on the streets and avoiding people who gave off bad vibes. the cadet said he and his brothers had been an experiment. he said the long necks had a “unique” clone that they wanted more of, so they tried seeing if there was anything special in his dna and seeing if they could use it to make more of him. there had only been six successful results. after order 66, the long necks had known they would be killed if their skills were found out, so they sent them away in a ship with an older clone escort. after getting shot down, the ship had crash landed on the planet. the boy was he other survivor. this had been a few weeks ago. the togruta had found him and they had been together ever since.
of course, obi-wan decides to adopt them. mainly because the two kids had been through a lot of pain, like him, and deserved a home, but also because they were force sensitive, and he felt the need to keep them safe from the empire. it takes a while for the two to adjust to their new home but they eventually get the hang of it. the two needed names, so obi-wan spent a few days suggesting names to the two and seeing what ones they liked. the togruta needed a new name just in case and the cadet needed a name that wasn’t a number. obi-wan, remembering the togruta biting him and his calling obi an “old man” quite a few times, suggests the name tano. he ends up really liking it. the cadet is a bit harder, since none of the names seem to stick. eventually, the boy seems to like cleon, much to the jedi’s dismay due to the name’s meaning being all too familiar; glory.
he ends up raising the two as if they were his own and training them in the force. cleon ends up aging normally after obi-wan fixes his advantaged aging with a few sessions of force healing.
obi-wan loves them, but their personalities hit a little too close to home. cleon is so much like cody and other clones from his old battalion. though shy at first, he can quickly warm up to someone and becomes a sweet, lovable goofball. he’s incredibly loyal and desires to help out, and is no above making sassy comments to those he loves. he’s good with a lightsaber but works better with a blaster, being an incredibly good shot. obi-wan suspects the “unique” clone he was created from was cody. obi-wan noticed during their time togther that cody, despite claiming he was a clone, seemed fairly force sensitive. he had never brought it up, so he doesn’t know how the kaminoans would know, but he could see why they would want force sensitive clones. it seems their experiment had been successful.
tano, on the other hand, was like the mix between ahsoka and anakin. he was chaotic, energetic, quick to action, always causing trouble, and a general menace. though the young one was a pain, tano had his sweet moments and obi-wan loved him unconditionally. tano was good with a lightsaber and loved to hear obi-wan’s stories about the war. though cleon loved the stories too, he loved to hear more about the battalion and the antics they got along to. obi-wan hoped he wouldn’t pick up chaotic ideas from tano or the stories. he did not need another waxer or wooley on his hands. he was never going to tell stories about what he heard fives got up to. tano, on the other hand, liked hearing stories about the battles and the jedi. he seemed to most like the stories about ahsoka, anakin, quinlan, and yoda (secretly a chaotic gremlin). whenever he heard about some lightsaber move ahsoka or anakin pulled, he’d practice until he perfected it.
the two kids bring life to the kenobi household and happiness to the jedi’s life. they also adore luke and love to go over to play with him once he’s old enough to.
once cleon turns thirteen and tano turn fifteen, he gives them both their own lightsaber. he found them being sold, with the seller not knowing what they were, and obi immediately bought them. one of them happens to be one of ahsoka’s old lightsabers. the saber instantly becomes fond of tano and ends up becoming his. he doesn’t know who the other lightsaber belonged to, but it soon comes to like cleon. obi-wan was guessing it belonged to the jedi that loved the clones, like plo or aayla.
as the two grow up, obi-wan decides to teach them his own way, not the jedi way. he teaches them how to trust in the force but also how to process and deal with emotions properly. he teaches them that it’s okay to love but to not let it stray into unhealthy emotions like possession. he teaches them his own way and they grow into wonderful jedi. as they grow up, they get their own ambitions and goals. tano wants to find out which jedi remain alive and to learn from them and their stories, as well as reunite them with any friends of theirs that may be alive. cleon wants to help and free the clones that are under the control of the empire, as well as join any rebellion that may be coming. though obi-wan knows he’ll miss the two when they leave, he supports them since he just wants the two to be happy.
he just doesn’t know that his kids will be the reason he’s able to reunite with his old grand padawan ahsoka and old commander cody again. he never knew, but he’s so greatful. he always knew, since the moment he met them, that the kids were going to do great things.
