First Rant: Plain-Old Isekai Animes
Me wishing for a genuine isekai anime that has their own culture, unique landscape and other things that don't feel like typical fantasy — fuck it I wanna even see an isekai where mc just goes to another modern world (that is still different from our modern world) with some weird shit going on. I want the setting to be memorable, not like the ones rn where I can practically feel like the environment can blend in with each other.
I don't want no basic monsters: no demon lord, or like "evil" orcs, goblins — I wanna see those things that can borderline be a legit nightmare. I wanna see a villain/s be actually threatening and not just some hurdle to overcome and move on from as fast as one chapter.
I want the mc to be unique (if not a diff gender at least notable personality like with Rimuru from TTIGRAAS). I want to see a fantasy where the problem is already set from the start for the mc, not just "I got transported to another world and now I have to solve their problem / I will just do random mundane shit and live like this no problems whatsoever."
I wanna see that despair of leaving behind a world where the mc is actually happy and satisfied with, I wanna see them make a tough decision if they are faced with the decision to leave.
I don't want to see another harem with a boring ass mc too (and boring ass girls as well). I may not be a fan of harem but I know when to appreciate a goodly developed one. Like, where my good harems at??? The girls don't even look appealing anymore- they just exist to follow and fall in love (undeservedly) with the mc.
Have good titles plsssss. I know that there is some sort of algorithm going on at the searches which is why long ass titles are so popular but come on, most of them are so shit.
In general a lot of isekais just don't really feel genuine anymore and are just there to ride the hype that came with the genre. Don't get me wrong, I understand that completely. BUT it doesn't mean that that is a reason to create boring uninspired stories that makes me feel like I have wasted my time.
p.s i am not saying that every tag i put is trash or the ones i am talking about, they're honestly just random isekai that first pops up on google if u search isekai

This post contains simple descriptions of anime's plots that may be considered spoilers!
Continue at your own risk!
Wholesome/Funny anime I would recommend watching!
Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear - Video game player gets Isekaid into a new world in a bear costume with OP stats, so she has fun and makes friends while making the world a better place.
Wise Man's Grandchild - A kid who remembers his past life in another world is raised by the former hero's of his country. Turns out his powers are way beyond anything ever seen before, so he trains his friends so they are now a group of the worlds most powerful people, fighting for good.
The Disastrous Life of Saiki K - A pink haired boy was born with potentially world ending psychic power, but doesn't care to do anything with it. His classmate force friendship and inconvenience upon te kid, who just tries to go about his life.
Aggretsuko - A young office worker dreams of a happy life and marriage. However she's stuck in a basic office job with a shitty boss! She likes to vent her frustrations by singing death metal karaoke, and hilarity ensues!
The Way of The House Husband - An ex yakuza is now married to his go getter wife Miku, and he enthusiastically takes on the role of house husband. He's very competent at cooking cleaning and the like, but keeps his yakuza look and mannerisms, leading to funny misunderstandings!
Spy X Family - For his new mission, agent Twilight adopts Anya, a little girl who has secret psychic powers, and marries Yor, an assassin. Funny family shenanigans and a side plot of a potential world war make for a story that's both funny and interesting!
The Duke of Death and His Maid - When he was little, the young duke Viktor is cursed by a witch so that everything he touches will die. Sent off to be less of a danger, he lives alone with his butler Rob and his maid Alice. Alice and Viktor are determined to break his curse so they can be married. A cute rom-com with a lot of teasing that'll make you smile and/or cry!
Maid-Sama - Student counsel president Misaki has a secret part time job at a maid café, and does her best to run the school and keep her job a secret! Takumi Usui is the most popular in school, and he finds out about her secret job. Instead of telling everyone, he keeps her secret and becomes a regular at the café. The two fall for eachother, and there's a lot of rom-com fun!
Toradora! - An aggressive and tiny girl meets a gentle giant boy, and the two form a friendship over their crushes on the others best friend. While trying to set them up with their crush, the two fall for each other instead. Warning, some parts might make you cry!

Started watching The Aristocrat's Otherworldly Adventure, and I'm not even past the intro, and I'm already thinking, "I just wish this was a new season of The Wise Man's Grandchild instead"

DP X DC PROMPT #25
(#) = Notes at the end of post
(*) = Just me building off of other ideas.
Family Reunion
Clockwork sends an adult Danny, newly appointed Ancient of Space, on a mission through time again. Except this time, it isn't located on Earth, but a distant planet he's never even heard of before. Clockwork didn't tell him any specifics on what he was supposed to do or when he was supposed to return to his own time, just to blend in and have an experience. He would know when it was time to return.
Needless to say, he has a blast! His core is bursting with happiness at getting the chance to explore this unknown corner of the universe with a sky full of constellations he's never seen and fascinating locals. Considering he might be here a while, he buckles down and learns all about their culture and their traditions and even eventually learns their language without having to use the two-way translator Clockwork gave him.
He spends decades there, not even having to worry about how he never appears to age, the people here being incredibly long-lived. However, he eventually meets someone. Someone he falls head over heels for. He gets married. He has kids. He watches them slowly grow into adults as well. It isn't until one of his sons informs him that he's expecting his own child(1) that Danny feels a tug at his core.
He ignores it, but over the course of a few weeks, it's gone from the occasional pull to a full-on yank at his entire being, along with a sense of dread that something was going to happen to this wonderful little planet. To his family.
He becomes restless and loses so much sleep, it's a miracle he can even stand. His family are worried for him, but he assures them that he's just feeling a little under the weather. One night, he's sat up in bed, unable to sleep again. His gaze is fixed lovingly on his spouse, but nonetheless sad.
He doesn't miss when all the soft sounds of the night stop and a green glow appears behind him.
"It's time to leave, isn't it?"
"Yes."
"There isn't any way I could stay? I can't bring them with me?"
"I'm afraid not. There are some things that can't be changed or stopped, even when they fall into your domain. I'm sorry."
"Why send me here just to make me abandon them like this? What was the point?"
Clockwork is silent, but when Danny turns to look at the ghost, he's gone.
Danny takes a few more precious days to spend time with his family. Kiss his spouse. Hug his kids. Feel the strong kicks of his grandchild he won't be there to witness the birth of.
The night he leaves, he places a letter on his spouse's nightstand, gently kisses their forehead, and disappears in a flash of green, never to be seen again.
Years later is when Danny gets the news. That the planet Krypton is no more and that his family is gone. He searched the Ghost Zone for them, but he never knew the location of Krypton in the cosmos. Their afterlife is beyond his reach, in a place that isn't even on the Infamap.
He nearly drowns himself in grief when he finds a sliver of reprieve in the form of a news broadcast. An extraordinary man in blue and red with the kryptonian symbol for such emblazoned on his chest is shown fighting off multiple enemies at once. He is the spitting image of his father and Danny as well.
He had a grandson. His grandson was alive.
(1) This was Kara, not Clark. Danny left before he even found out about Kal-El being in the oven, so there will be a misunderstanding at first. Then Kara pops up later, and Danny just bawls his eyes out that he had two surviving grandchildren without even knowing it this whole time. How he first meets either of them is up to you!
(*) What this means power-wise for Clark is yours to decide. As well as what Clark already knows about his grandfather from the stored information his father left him. What his father thought of Danny disappearing without a word is also up for you to decide.

Mother Knows Best (Ivar)
Prompt: My arranged marriage with Ivar the Boneless was not a surprise. The surprise had been finding out he did not want to lay with me. Are the rumors of his incapabilities true? Is sex the answer to learn to love each other? I do not know. He scares me, but he is no less fascinating. That is why I decided to give him a chance. Slight AU. Ragnar does not die, neither does Aslaug. They rule side by side and decide to ally themselves with the Saxons.
Tumblr media
Mother looks at me across the table. Her eyes are expectant, her expression unamused. She waits for me to say something; to tell her that I am already with child. But because I am not, I remain quiet.
“I would like to know my grandchild, preferably,” she says, “but it would be nice if at least I know you are with child before you leave Wessex.” She gives me a hard stare. Oh, I know she would like that, that’s the reason she has given me plenty of recommendations on how to please my husband in bed. Not that I have applied them.
A month ago, I was given the news that I was to be wed to the youngest of King Ragnar’s sons. A man I hadn’t even met and whose ruthlessness was well known. It was a political marriage. Arranged so our kingdoms would become friends instead of foes. My grandfather, King Ecbert, wanted to have a good relationship with the heathens, so he promised my hand for peace. I always knew I would be married for the good of my kingdom and not love, but that does not mean the news was less disappointing.
The wedding took place two weeks ago, right after the arrival of the Vikings. And as I approached the altar, that was the first time I laid eyes on my husband. His cold demeanor rendered me speechless, but his hard blue-eyed stare sent shivers down my spine. He was sitting on a chair waiting for me. I knew his legs were useless, so that did not surprise me. I tried not to stare during the ceremony but failed miserably. He had looked at me annoyed yet intrigued.
My father, Prince Aethelwulf, was displeased with the marriage, but he had little to no say in the matter. My mother Judith, even though she was in favor of the union, she did not agree with the choice of groom. She thought Ubbe or Sigurd would have been better candidates. King Ragnar himself had chosen Ivar, and my grandfather had agreed with the promise that he would be able to provide children. His ability to lay with a woman had many rumors, but King Ragnar had assured that Ivar was no less of a man in that matter. Not that I would know, because I had yet to lay with him.
The night of our wedding, the bedding ceremony had been canceled due to the Viking’s request. So when I entered the chambers, there was no pressure in laying with him. Yet, I expected he would have wanted me to because he is a man. That had not been the case. That night, we laid side by side in silence until the sun raised. Back then I had been grateful because I did not want to sleep with a man I barely knew, but now I have begun to question myself. Does he not find me attractive? Does he know how to lay with a woman? Is he really not physically able? Does he prefer men?
It is necessary for us to have a child in order to fortify the alliance. That is why my mother had given me tips to please him. I had yet to use them, I feared to do so. In all honesty, I had been afraid of my husband when I first heard of him, and during our wedding. I have heard how he is and I have seen how he treats people. However, that fear has receded ever since. These past two weeks he has been nothing but kind to me, even a little shy. That’s probably the reason why I have started to feel attraction towards him. That and his sharp mind. At first, I did not know how to speak his language. He has been slowly teaching me. And I have seen him playing chess with Alfred, it is honestly fascinating.
“It would be wise for your marriage if you have passion in the bedroom, darling,” my mother says.
I know she means good, and I know she is probably right, but I have to bite my tongue from mentioning her passion with my grandfather. Her marriage with my father is a mere paper. I do not wish my marriage with Ivar to be the same, despite the circumstances. But she does have a point, she has a very good relationship with my grandfather, whom she beds. Sex must be the answer to get closer to Ivar. And maybe, with time, we could learn to love each other. That is a foolish thought, but it is what motivates me to wait naked in bed. He arrives at the dormitory shortly after twelve. He has been drinking with his brothers, but all the inebriation leaves him once he sees me.
“Hello, my…” he does not like it when I call him titles, so I correct myself, “... Ivar. I have been waiting for you.” He does not say anything. Heat accumulates in my face. Does he not like what he sees? I fight the urge to cover myself and hide between the covers. His hands tighten around his crutches.
“What… What are you doing like that? What if someone other than me were to come in?” He questions, he seems angry at the idea, but his eyes do not leave my body.
“I made sure no one other than you were to come inside, my husband,” I whisper. Ivar must notice that I am not completely myself acting like this, because he looks away.
“You don’t have to do that, you know.” He approaches the bed and sits down, his back to me. “I know this is an arranged marriage, we do not have to do anything that you do not want.” His voice is uninterested but his words are sweet. I hesitate.
“I know, but we are expected to bear children.” He tenses. He does not say anything, he starts to take off his leg braces. I wait patiently. The room is colder when he speaks.
“If that is what you wish this is unnecessary, you do not have to remove your camisole.” His voice is harsh and I know I said something I was not supposed to.
“It is not only about that,” I try to correct myself though my voice waivers in nervousness, “I wish… I wish for us to enjoy making children.” It is the most direct way for me to express my desire for him.
He stops what he is doing and turns around. He looks me in the eyes looking for uncertainty. I know he finds none when he drags his body towards me. His arms muscles flex and something knots in my belly. He looms over me with a hungry stare.
When he opens his mouth I think he is about to devour me but he speaks. “Do you not know the rumors? Do you not know what they say?” He does not wait for me to answer, “apparently, I can not please a woman, I can not give children, I am a useless husband.”
I do not hesitate to answer, “I do not listen to rumors, I like to verify for myself,” I put a hand on his chest and the other around his neck. “If it is false, then we shall prove them so, and if it is true, then we shall not give up until we try everything.” He looks doubtful, “I… have learned a few tricks that shall please my husband.”
His surprise is evident when he speaks, “well, I have also learned a few tricks that shall please my wife."
I smile, “then, let us learn from one another.” I do not have time to say anything else before his lips crash with mine.
It is uncertain if we will succeed this night or another, or if we will have children, or if we will learn to love each other. The only thing that I am certain of is that we care for one another. At this moment, in my husband’s arms, I feel like never before.

Disconnected… part 2. (sully family x reader)
“this is what you’ve made me become.”
…and so Jake watched his creation, the daughter he now realizes he damaged. His body ran cold as he watched her pick up a tree branch…and then he followed her chilling whistles.
Y/n thought that was all…that she got all the soldiers, until she heard rustles in the woods. There was no hesitation in the her shot. The teenage girl kicked the gun away from the soldier arms, looked directly into her fathers eyes..
“This. Is what we do to get rid of the bad people. It shouldn’t take that long for you to realize how badly you protect this clan and your family.”
Her eyes were cold and black, the pleads from the man didn’t stop.
“You can breath, you can blink, you can cry….Eywa, you already are. You’re going to be stuck in that broken shell of a body forever.”
Then she cut the man’s vision clear bashing his head in with the thick tree branch.
“Y/n…Y/n s-stop…please. You killed those soldiers, and did more than killing to Quaritch Y/n, you didn’t even blink.”
“You know why I did it? I did it because I wanted to.”
“Don’t be stupid Y/n please. You can fool yourself and everyone else! But you can’t fool me! What happened to you? Because this isn’t you..”
“How would you know about me.”
The built up tension…over years of being locked away and pushed from her family…she aimed the gun to her siblings and mother who came in…the loudness and facial expression towards Y/n felt so unfamiliar…uncomfortable. They never looked at her..and now? Now they see her.
Neytiri’s eyes and hears rang…all she could hear were her mothers warning on Y/n’s behavior…now, she regretted ignoring her persistence on fixing Y/n. Mo’at said she was a monster but now…Neytiri was convinced, Y/n was the devil.
The Erie silence scared her…something she found so peaceful was now so scary. Y/n took her gun and ran through the woods hoping to just breathe for a moment.
It had been hours and everyone went off looking for her…Mo’at especially. Her poor grandchild couldn’t stand being with anyone because that’s how Jake made her, he made her used to being by herself. He gave her all the wrong traits…angry, aggressive, defensive, closed off and…sad.
*Flashback*
Jake made Y/n so stressed that the simplest thing set her off.
Y/n walked away angrily from training, having a rough day of archery…Neteyam could hear his younger sibling exhaling heavily.
“What happened?”
“All my shots were bad, all of them. Every single one.”
Neteyam turned around to the spots Y/n was supposed to aim, masking a surprised face towards the slightly off target aims, no it wasn’t in the exact center but it was almost there, still a good shot.
…it was always all too wrong for Y/n.
*
The frustrating memory came to an end when Y/n heard someone approaching.
“…Y/n! Please come back home! This is- it’s just not ok. The decisions your making right now aren’t wise, especially at this hour-“
“You think I’m some idiot! Well I didn’t ask to be made! I didn’t ask to be torn apart and put back together over and over! To turn into some…some monster!”
“Y/n…“
“No! No don’t say I’m wrong! You don’t get to say that! I spent hours on end training just so I could be perfect for him! For my own father..but I wasn’t! I proved myself over and over and over and over and over and over-“
“..ok Y/n I get it now-“
“No you don’t!”
“…I know you act like you’re the meanest and strongest but you’re actually the most scared of all…I know that you push anyone’s who’s willing to put up with you, cause just a little bit of love reminds you of how big and empty that hole inside you actually is.”
“Stop!”
“I know you feel like no one cares about you!…I know who you are Y/n!…because you were me. My parents always pushed on me to be the greatest tsahik..gave me much more harder time than a child can bare..so please Y/n realize that you’re ok now. I’m here”
For a moment..silence stood between the two…and the girl who Mo’at hoped would get better..broke down, into her grandmother’s arms.
“You were born into a family that doesn’t always appreciate you, but one day things are going to be very different..”
Mo’at placed a sleeping remedy on Y/n’s face hoping to buy her grandchild a good rest and time before the storm. Y/n softly fell asleep into her grandmothers arms. The most emotional yet beautiful sight Moat had ever seen…the child who was always overseen was now peacefully shedding tears while sleeping…it hurt her looking at the way Y/n was fully on guard still. Not once did her hand lose grip on her gun, and her body remained tense.
!💓!
There will be one more part to this! I’m so sorry for the major delay, i haven’t had any time to write and i hope this is good! Sorry for it being short but I’d also love if you guys send in requests for Y/n’s ending in this 💓

Last Will and Testament of Edna Lloyd
*** Please note that the writing below is purely fictional and serves as an addendum to the most recent chapter of A Taste of Honey; Wistfulness. It's long, but I hope you'll read it anyway, as many things written here will be relevant as the story continues.***
This is the last will of me, Edna Lloyd, of 362 Dandywood Lane, Appaloosa Plains. I declare that at the time of writing this last will, I am of sound mind and body.
I appoint my son, Oliver Lloyd, to be the executor and trustee of this will.
...
In the event of my passing, I declare my assets to be divided as stated below.
A) To be transferred to my son, Oliver Lloyd and his wife, Claire Lloyd; my house and the grounds on which it stands.
B) To divide equally among my grandchildren, Eva Adams-Wyler, James Wyler, Sarah Wyler and Daniel Lloyd; all my monetary assets. At the current time of writing, it is estimated to be around §1.500.000. Anything that’s added to that amount between the time of writing and my passing shall also be divided among the persons stated above.
C)To deliver to my apprentice and dear friend, Dante Moretti; all my paintings unsold at the time of my death. Both finished and unfinished.
...
I would like to conclude this will by writing some personal messages to my family and loved ones.
Ollie, my boy, I left my dear old house to you because it’s a beautiful place to grow old in. However, I know you and Claire are happy where you are, so I leave it to your good judgment what will happen to it. If you wish to sell it, that’s quite alright. I wish you a long and healthy life, my dear. May love live long.
Sweet Eva, my beautiful first grandchild, I will be forever proud of the woman you have become. I feel blessed to have known my great-grandchildren in my lifetime and I thank you for bringing them into my world. I’m sure you’ll use the money I left you wisely and for good. I hope luck will be forever on your side.
My lovely James, I know living in duty of your art can be a tough life. But my darling, you have such a talent; please don’t let it go to waste. Let your music be your home forever more. I hope that my inheritance will help you to do that. I shall forever be your number-one fan.
My dear Sarah, I know you have big dreams, and I have every faith you’ll make each one of them a reality. You’ve always been strong and determined, and I hope you’ll stay that way for many years to come.
Danny, my sweetheart, I sometimes worry your heart is too big for this world. I know taking care of others brings you joy, but honey, I hope you’ll use the money I left you to take care of you, too. You deserve every bit of happiness, my sweet boy.
Patty, you are my daughter, and therefore I want to say a few words to you, too. I can imagine you might feel left out because I didn’t include you in the official part of my will. I do want to leave you something; valuable advice. During your lifetime, you’ve always found it difficult to consider that not every person experiences everything the same way. I’ve tried, as your mother, to broaden your perspective but haven’t succeeded. I hope, for the sake of your children and your grandchildren, you’ll take my advice to sometimes swallow your words and try to look at things from another perspective. Trust me, it will widen your view of the world, and that can be a beautiful thing.
And finally, to Dante, my unexpected friend during the final stage of my life, I thank you for your kind attention to this old woman. You’re a lovely and very talented young man. I do hope you spread your wings and find some friends your own age, my dear. Never give up on your authenticity. It’s a great thing.

remarkably the town in this show is a slight departure from isekai tradition in that the river goes right through the center, and there are towns outside the wall (2nd image is konosuba, shield hero, wise man's grandchild in that order)

Jewish Kids Fantasy
Today at work, I found a book on the counter.
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. I have no idea why it was on the counter, but it’s my boss’s kid’s favorite book and he’s been telling me for years that I need to read it, so I took the opportunity. And I was blown away! Can’t wait to discuss it with him.
But if you want an amazing example of Jewishness and antisemitism worked into a YA fantasy story, this is your book.
The novel opens with our protagonist, Jacob, talking about his grandfather Abraham’s stories. Abraham tells fantastical stories about his childhood, when his parents sent him away from Poland to escape the Nazis. He wound up in a children’s home in Wales. His stories of this children’s home are populated by children with magical abilities, a wise bird who looks after them, and the man-eating monsters that he fled from.
As Jacob grows older, he dismisses these stories as fantasies made up to cope with being a refugee. Which makes a ton of sense. The severe trauma of losing your family and being sent to a strange country--then to grow up, fight in the war, and learn that your family didn’t survive--why wouldn’t a survivor turn it into a faery story for a young grandchild?
The novel doesn’t shy away from addressing the generational trauma caused by the Holocaust. Abraham starts a family after the war, yet is constantly travelling and rarely sees his children, who later find love letters from a mysterious woman. Jacob’s father is obviously burdened by this emotional neglect, and his cynicism about his father vs Jacob’s starry-eyed love for Abraham provides a background character conflict.
After Jacob witnesses Abraham’s death by the hands of a monster right out of one of those childhood tales, he decides to track down the truth about the children’s home. He and his father travel to Wales, where he finds the fantastical home and the magical children, protected forever in a pocket of time. Miss Peregrine, the guardian of the home, tells Jacob about people with strange abilities - “Peculiars” - of whom he and Abraham belong to. Jacob and Abraham both have the unique power to see the monsters (Hallowghast) that hunt and devour Peculiars, and Jacob learns that Abraham spent his life after the war tracking those monsters down and killing them.
The Peculiars and the Hallowghast are used as an allegory for Jewish persecution and antisemitism. Peculiars all over the world have retreated into loops of time to protect against persecution from humanity. Meanwhile, the invisible Hallowghast hunt them down. Hallowghast are mere beasts, but if a Hallowghast kills and devours enough Peculiars, it transforms into a Wight - an intelligent creature that can blend into society and organizes the Hallows to track down and destroy more Peculiars.
And it’s no mistake that the only two characters in the book that have the power to see the monsters for what they are - are the Jewish ones.
Antisemitism is a pervasive thing. There are the antisemitic tropes and stereotypes. There’s been a lot of talk on tumblr about learning to recognize these in both media and everyday life, and I’m hearted to see people discussing what everyday antisemitism looks like. But unless you’re Jewish, you likely didn’t grow up learning to recognize them. They’re everywhere - invisible but present in media, in the news, on social media, and in institutions. Like the Hallowghast, they are invisible monsters that can hurt and kill - and it takes someone who is looking for them to spot them.
The Wights, on the other hand, are far more insidious. They blend into society, looking like a normal person, organizing the everyday monsters. This is our systemic antisemitism. Universities putting quotas on Jewish students. Employers who don’t want to hire Jews. Pogroms. Exile. Inquisition. Ghettos. Genocide.
Abraham is heavily implied to be the only Jewish child at the house. He leaves the safety of the loop - and forfeits his place there forever - because he wants to fight against the ones hurting his people. In WWII, the Nazis. After - the Hallowghasts. Because he belongs to two marginalized peoples, he feels that he cannot sit back and let either be terrorized. The other children - for whom the Hallowghast are invisible - do not make this choice, probably because they do not see the consequences of ignoring it.
This is a particularly interesting point to me, because often when Jewish characters are in fantasy stories, they do not have to deal with how their Jewishness does - or does not - fit into the fantasy world they’re given access to. Whereas Abraham grapples with how he fits as a Jew into the world of the Peculiars. He decides that he cannot sit idly by while his people are killed, and this decision sets up the one that Jacob will have to make. Does he abandon the Peculiars to the Hallowghasts, or will he fight for his newly-found family?
In the end, perhaps inspired by Abraham’s example, Jacob does. He leaves his father, leaves his time period, and sets off with the other Peculiar children to confront this threat.
“Do not be daunted by the enormity of the world’s grief. Do justly, now. Love mercy, now. Walk humbly, now. You are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to abandon it.”
-Rabbi Tarfon, Pirkei Avot 2.16
It is this Jewish value that guides the text. Abraham and Jacob both fight for their people, fight for freedom from persecution. Freedom from the monsters in human form.
And that, my friends, is how you successfully integrate Jewishness into a YA Fantasy novel.

“The monsters gone and your Grandpas here”
Egon being a grandpa to reader because if I’m honest I dont really know Phoebe that well character wise and I’m not in the mood for angst.
You were only six when you first visited your grandfathers house. Looking up at the somewhat tall building clutching your little backpack in one hand your teddy under the same arm, you hesitated before stepping up to the door and knocked. Egon pushed his glasses up and opened the door grinning at the sight of his grandchild. He knelt down and opened his arms for a hug which you rushed into. You loved your grandpa so much, he was always showing you new inventions when he visited yours or stayed the night. You’d never been allowed to stay at his overnight before because your mother was hesitant. He’d not been there for her when she was younger, but Egon had a reason. Ghost busting wasn’t easy, and it was dangerous to. Even during the five year gap anything could have clung to him, he couldn’t risk harming his daughter.
He led you into the house and closed the door behind him. He took you upstairs to where you’d be staying the night, though unbeknownst to little you, you’d be staying with him for much much longer. He sat you on the bed, the wardrobe was packed with clothes he’d bought you, shoes anything clothes wise you’d need for now. “Now how about you get use to your new room while grandpa makes some dinner hm? I left a few inventions in here for you to look at” he smiled and stood leaving to the kitchen. You looked around and found the inventions he was talking about. One looked like a mini proton pack that he’d shown you a picture of. He told you all about when he was a ghostbuster, about the 100ft Stay Puft Man, about a possessed painting, mood slime that could be charged negatively or positively. It all seemed like a fairytale but his notes and colleagues had confirmed it was indeed true.
After dinner he told you more stories, the one about the first time they caught a ghost and Venkman got slimed, one about how Sal (Rays daughter), Ray, Winston and himself had been covered head to toe in ectoplasmic slime because they’d fallen into a whole river of it. You felt your eyes grow heavy as you slowly fell asleep on his lap. He carried you to bed and laid you down, kissing your forehead gently with a smile. You were so much like Callie…yet…so much like him. He sighed as he headed to bed and sat down rubbing his eyes. He took his glasses off and laid down falling asleep. It seemed like he was only asleep for a few hours before a scream filled the house. He sat up and grabbed his glasses running to your room.
You’d been woken up by a night terror and were currently sobbing and curled up in a ball. Egon pushed the door open and went over sitting on the bed “hey little dove what’s wrong? Was it one of the night terrors your mother told me about?” You hiccuped and looked up practically throwing yourself at him, into his arms. He rubbed your back and kissed your forehead, his rough but sturdy hand making small circles on your back. You whimpered and the crying died down to sniffling and hiccups. Egon held you close and kissed your forehead again rocking back and forth “the monsters gone and your grandpas here” Egon laid down on your bed next to you and played with your hair gently. He wanted to make sure that those nightmares would never bother you again. A smile spread across his face feeling your breathing return to a clam even pace, looking down you were fast on in his arms. “I love you..so much. You’re going to be a special girl when you grow up.
