Tweet by Luke 🏳️‍⚧️ @l_melo_h reading, “The wisdom tradition (e.g. Proverbs, Ecclesiastes) will give you the acceptance, non-attachment, and pragmatism you need to survive; the prophets will give you the vision, desire, and dissatisfaction you need to fight. They need each other”

Captain’s Log
Star date 2024.02.13
Day 6
“Dad, what’s insight?”
“It’s when you can see past the surface of a problem—you can see inside and figure out why things are happening the way they are.”
“Is that good?”
“It’s good, but it is also annoying because even though you can see, you can’t make other people see.”
“Should I want this?”
“Solomon says it is better to see than to walk in darkness, so it’s better to have insight than to not have it, but it definitely comes with it’s challenges.”

I love this conversation. Being able to have it with my son makes this whole process worthwhile. Each day we are together, we become stronger than we were before—myself included. I am beginning to see this period as a blessing and to enjoy each part of it.
Time for me to get to work.

“Almost every woman I have ever met has a secret belief that she is just on the edge of madness, that there is some deep, crazy part within her, that she must be on guard constantly against ‘losing control’ — of her temper, of her appetite, of her sexuality, of her feelings, of her ambition, of her secret fantasies, of her mind.”
