Hi, okay I'm so happy to finally be writing this idea and yes I made this silly banner because I think every photo of Bucky should have hearts and thoughts of Sam floating around him. Anyway, hope you enjoy!

Summary: Bucky seeks dating advice from his therapist. Together, they navigate the world of modern dating and Bucky's gradual realization that he might be in love with Sam.

Excerpt:

Oh god, there she is.

Alice the cute barista. She has her hair pulled back today and she's smiling so sweetly at the customer in front of her.

Panic surges through Bucky's veins, small beads of sweat form on his forehead even though he rarely sweats with the serum. His gloved fingers collide together, the leather crackling under the tension of his fingers harshly pressing together.

The customer in front of Bucky steps aside and moves over to the pick-up counter. Bucky drops his hands and steps forward, his limbs shake with the move.

Alice smiles at him, bright and easy like she always does. She recognizes him since Bucky's been visiting this coffee shop religiously every morning.

Today is the final step of the plan except the plan wasn't supposed to take two weeks. He was supposed to ask her out on day one but that didn't happen. Didn't quite work out the next day either or the following twelve. This is it, try fourteen and Bucky is going to ask Alice out today just as he and his therapist discussed.

"Hi, what can I get you?" Alice delivers the line like clockwork.

Bucky's mouth opens and his intent is to say the words "your number" with a hopeful smile on his face.

Unfortunately, he doesn't get the chance when her eyes suddenly go wide, her mouth drops with a gasp and her gaze diverts past him.

Hello all. I wanted to discuss some messages people have been getting in regards to my fics. I received a message about an old fic that used the ableist term "human hand" to refer to Bucky's prosthetic arm. I was directed towards the sambuckylibrary's guide on ableist and racist language in fics, which is an excellent primer.

I have since been accused of not correcting the problem, which is untrue. This fic was written before the initial guide was created (You can look up the bingo post for Halloween 2021, which does not include the guide, which has been on the posts since then) When the guide was published, I went in and corrected the language in the fics I had previously published to that point. The anon seems to only be interacting with only the tumblr post of the fic. I was unable to edit the old post due to tumblr errors. I still cannot edit old posts. I have been trying.

This language and my usage of it is incredibly embarrassing. It is indeed the kind of thing that is so obvious when it is written out. I made the effort to correct usage of it as we learned as a fandom. I am now very aware of it and do not condone usage of that language in my fics, nor have I for many years.

I cannot imagine I have used any of these terms recently in any context unless it was intentionally highlighting Bucky feeling/ being treated like a weapon. I do have a few fics (namely the WinterFalcon AU or creature features) in which dehumanizing language is specifically used for that effect. I try to tag all of my fics, including my supernatural fics, in such a way that possible triggers can be avoided. If I have failed in that regard, I am deeply sorry and I encourage anyone to let me know.

One final note on this: if I EVER used the term "unwhole" or any variation of it in regards to Bucky, which was not part of his own inner monologue, please tell me. I have written multiple fics that involve Bucky's mental health and self image in positive and negative ways. I am sorry if this was upsetting or untagged. None of the character study fics leave Bucky in a negative headspace and his journey is part of the process. If I have made an egregious misstep in this regard, please please please tell me. This is not something I have ever meant to do or would think to do.

ETA: Upon checking, I do not believe I have ever used the term "robot(ic) hand/arm/fingers" even in the robot apocalypse fic. I also found no use of the word whole/unwhole to describe anyone negatively. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Please, I want people to feel comfortable pointing out fics and phrases so I can fix them. None of this was done viciously, it was done out of ignorance. I am always growing, as are all writers, and I welcome the feedback. I am deeply, deeply sorry about these previous missteps

Thoughts on shuri x namor shipnames:

shuramor - my favourite so far, distinct, elegant, puts shuri first, sounds like "sure, amor" which is the antithesis of namor's name

seaprincess - cute, little mermaid vibes, follows mcu ship name convention (eg frostiron, winterfalcon)

namori/namuri - also cute but also identical to names for established charcaters outside the mcu, could become confusing

fishcat/catfish - less keen but still kinda cute, EDIT: also already used for t'challa and namor in the comics

shumor/shamor - even less keen but still distinct enough to be practical

Stupid lil question:

On Ao3 and here I only see Bucky and Sam’s ship name as WinterFalcon, Sam/Bucky, or Sam x Bucky. It’s possible that I’m just not paying attention. I’m sentient yes but I never said I take in all the information around me.

Because Sam’s name begins with an s, his causal first name ship name with Bucky would be Stucky. But it can’t be because that’s Steve and Bucky’s. And now that Sam has taken on his Captain America role in the MCU his hero ship name with Bucky would be WinterShield, but it can’t be that since that’s Steve and Bucky’s.

So my question is what is Sam and Bucky’s updated ship name? Or are we sticking with WinterFalcon?

I don’t think we should since Sam is now Captain America. I suggest their casual to be “Bam” -cause obvious reasons and it’s cute- and their hero one to be “CaptainWinter” or we go with Bucky’s new title of White Wolf and it could be “WolfShield.” OR my fav idea is “WinterWings.”

Pls tell me if I just haven’t been paying attention and they do have a ship name besides WinterFalcon.

Edit: thank you to @me1och for commenting and correcting me. it would be “sucky” not stucky. there’s no t! my brain isn’t always on all the way lol
