no powers au + anais!
With no powers, Anais is a full-time photographer at CatCo., under the supervision of James Olsen. On the side, she and Winn are Supergirl's backup on the computers. Anais knows her way around them thanks to her adoptive dad (a true nerd!) and continues to learn more from Winn directly.
Anais believes that everyone should be able to defend themselves, whether they're made of steel or not. She encourages Winn to take take self-defense classes from Alex, sometimes even Kara. At first, Winn is reluctant. He's absolutely foul at dodging punches.
"I'll get my ass kicked and then you'll laugh," he told Anais, "And then you'll break up with me!"
Anais laughed there, and just as Winn threw a sharp 'see!?' at her, she assured him that would not happen. "How could I make fun of you when you're doing something I asked you to? I would never." She planted a soft kiss on his cheek, and that was the end of that.
Winn did as she asked, just like he always did when she kissed him. It was the way of their relationship that he was also guilty of. He got her to play video games she swore she hated because he'd kissed her for a decent while.
And wouldn't you know it, they ended up becoming pretty skilled at combat. It wasn't Supergirl or Martian Manhunter levels, but they were good.
Over the years, Winn would develop important softwares leading him away from the DEO and Anais would eventually become Art Editor for CatCo. They'd live together but also travel because Anais never left her parents' home growing up and Winn never sought to go anywhere after his father was sent to prison.
They're basically your typically cozy-comedy kind of couple idk I also see them getting a dog a la krypto style

This is my new favorite gif of Kara
Not my gif*
All you remembered was seeing an unfamiliar planet, somewhere you didn't want to call home, ever.
Now somewhere in a grassy field, you sat unconscious, in the pod that saved you from death, while your home planet was destroyed a long time ago. You, while fleeing your home planet, followed another pod into the phantom zone, and stayed there long after it had gone. Left all alone, for so long, just like you had been before, left in the silence of space...
 ---
"Supergirl, we just need you to check it out." J'onn told Kara, as the Kryptonians sister, adding her opinion.
“We haven’t even classified it as a threat,” Alex said, warning her sister to not be aggressive, and Kara turned to leave but was stopped by J’onn.
“Oh, one more thing,” J’onn turned to address the Kryptonian. “We believe it to be Kryptonian.” The blonde froze for a moment and then turned towards the sky and flew away. Kara's mind was racing as her sister got on comms and gave her a location
“You be careful,” Alex said typing something into the computer and added in a whisper “-especially if they really are Kryptonian...”
---
You felt funny, a good funny, but it was- The feeling was so difficult to describe, almost like your whole body felt the happiness in your heart, but you weren’t particularly happy, your body was tingling in excitement though.
Feeling strong, feeling like you could do more than just sit around, you were getting used to the feeling of safety and strength rolling over you, when a shadow came out in front of your eye line and your eyelids peeled open, right as the top hatch of the pod, you were sitting in, came off and with it, a million different noises filled your head, making it feel like it was about to explode, as the feeling of safety went right out the pod. You screamed.
“I’m not here to harm you.” Said a strange voice in a familiar tongue. “Will you let me help you?” The same voice said again, it rang in your ears, and it fought very hard to stay at the forefront among all the strange, foreign noises trying to invade your thoughts. You looked up and saw a man with, jet black, almost dark blue hair, a red sheet swaying in the wind, attached at his shoulders, and a respected glyph laid upon his chest.
“Who are you?” You're not sure where you are or who is talking to you, the only thing that makes you feel a little bit better, is that he is speaking your language. “Where am I?” You asked the man in Kryptonese.
“You are on Earth.” He starts calmly, waiting a moment before proceeding, being careful to keep his distance. “What’s your name? I am Kal-el.” He smiles softly at you, speaking slowly.
“Earth…?” A weight fell in your heart, and a sudden sadness flowed through you, forgetting about the fear of your safety on this Planet. “Where is Krypton, Kal-el?” You asked, sadness in your voice without fully registering your thoughts.
Clark gulped, “I’m sorry, it’s all gone.” His words broke your already shattered heart, and for a moment all the thoughts and noise went away, silence was the only thing you could hear, before unconsciously speaking again.
“Where did it all go?” You asked the brave man, innocently. Kal-el couldn’t be the one to tell you, the pod crystal would explain it all to you in time.
“That is for you to figure out.” You nod your head at his words, there was somewhere in his voice that felt safe, felt trusting, it reminded you of home. You looked up and he held out his hand for you, pulling you out of the still smoking pod that carried you here, to Earth. The ground beneath you, felt so different under your shoes from how Krypton had, well from what you can remember of your former home.
“Clark?” Another voice said in the distance, not far from where you and Kal-el stood.
“It’s Kal-el here, Kara.” He held your hand lightly in the air.
“Ah,” Kara paused when she finally looked at you, knowing you couldn’t have been older than 15.“What’s your name..?” Kara asked you, resting her arms at either side of her suit.
The new girl had yellow hair, the same red sheet, and the same house glyph resting on the same blue as Kal-el, you now understood that she was trustworthy, if Kal-el knew her.
“My name is Y/n. Daughter of the House of Y/l/n.” You said, finally answering Kal-el’s long forgotten question.
”I am Kara, from the House of El, same as Kal-el, here.” She smiled tenderly at you.
“Brother and sister?” You asked, just as curious as you sounded, brow furrowed in confusion.
“Cousins!” Kal-el gives a laugh, as Kara walks closer to the both of you. Kara gives you another smile and turns to her cousin, speaking in a language you had forgotten was stored in your memory.
“Alex wants me to take her in, just to watch her for now. Make sure she’s safe.”
“Are you sure? The farm could always use another pair of hands.”
“Yeah,” Kara reassured him. “I don’t want something to happen, and I mean- I am stronger,” Kara smirks at her cousin in a serious moment.
“Yeah, yeah..” Clark shook his head in a playful annoyance. Kal-el turns back to you saying, “Y/n, you will go with Kara,” You take a step back, taking your hand away from Kal-el’s.
“We don’t want to hurt you, just to keep you safe.” Kara says quickly.
“This planet has people that can hurt you, but me and Kara are going to watch out for you.” Kal-el added to Kara’s statement.
“No harm will be done to you, Y/n. I promise, can you trust us?”
---
3 hours later
You sat on the ground, in a cell, with a tear-stained face, wishing Kal-el were here and that the horrible ringing in your ears from the silence would go away, with a sleeve of your Kryptonian clothes tasered off at a weird angle, letting your forearm show.
Kara was stressed out and you hadn't even been here for a day yet. Alex was dealing with the agents that had accidentally scared you. And you apologized in English over and over again, hoping that it would help.
Before J’onn or Alex even had a say, you were put in a cell by three other agents that were able to get you to calm down enough and left you all alone, freaking you out in doing so. When you heard the airlock seal and everything went silent, your head wasn’t so filled with noise anymore, but you felt as if your strength had been taken from you. The only thing you could hear was your breathing, before the bang of the door at the other side of the big room startled you, and just like that, you were all alone again. You didn’t even notice the green lights turn on until you couldn’t take the silence much longer.
Kara had been out for maybe an hour to go to CatCo and talk with a source about her current article, while you stayed at the DEO, in a cell, under green lights that made every part of your skin hurt, when Kara got a phone call and flew to the DEO with anger flowing through her veins.
“You put her in a cell?!” She shouted across the room. Startling most of the agents and making Winn wince in his seat.
“Supergirl, you need to know the whole story,” J’onn tried reasoning with The Girl of Steel.
“Don’t.” She cuts him off aggressively, walking up to main console area. “I told her she would be safe here. Not locked up for something she can’t control!” The Girl of Steel throws her arms in the air, out of anger.
“I’m not saying she should stay in the cell, but Kara,” Alex tried to reason with her sister. “she doesn’t have her powers under control at all.” Supergirl gives her sister an annoyed glance before saying anything.
“I wasn’t put in a cell when I got here, now was I?” She points the question to her superiors, who stay quiet.
“Where is she?” Alex takes a breath and leads Supergirl, silently, to your cell. Alex opened the door for her sister. Kara, being angry, and knowing what it was like to feel trapped, she couldn’t imagine what Y/n was feeling. She immediately opened your cell door.
“Y/n, come with me.” You shook your head at Kara’s words, trying to move away from the door, as you feel your strength start to creep back in.
“No. I hurt them. I don’t want to hurt the Humans.” You said trying to keep yourself from crying. Kara’s expression softened and walked towards you slowly.
“It wasn’t your-” Kara’s gaze shifted upwards, slightly feeling the posion from the green lights shining down on you. “Fault…” A new fueled rage filled with shock flowed through Kara. You didn’t notice Kara’s findings, but Alex did.
“Kara…” Alex put her hand over her mouth in horror, not aware of this till now. You weren’t listening to the agents, only could tell they were yelling at one another. All you knew was that of course you didn’t mean to but it was your fault.
“It wasn’t her fault!” Kara shouts at her sister, cutting the conversation to a close.
“Nothing seems to be my fault but look at what happened, before I got here everything was in perfect order.” You finally gave in to your tears and stuffed your face into your knees. Kara heard you, turning instantly, and took in the scene of you crying, underneath the kryptonite, pulled into a ball, she was almost brought to tears herself.
“Hey, Y/n, look at me..” Kara stepped forward, crouching down to be near you. “I promise you that things were never in perfect order since Kal-el and I got here a long time ago. Everything will be alright, just need some time to- Re-adjust, okay.” She smiles at you, as you lift your head slowly and nod, wiping your remaining tears away.
“Today I will teach you how to control your powers, but that also means being able to control your emotions too, think you can handle that?” You gave her a more confident nod. Supergirl walked out of the cell and you slowly followed, looking away from Alex, as you walked by, and out the door, following the red cape down the hall.
---
Two weeks later
“Y/n, Kara is going to be taking you with her today!” Alex said walking into the Med bay and over to the bed you sat upon.
“Where will we be going?” You sat on the bed uninjured in any way.
“You will have to ask her, I bet it’ll be a fun day!” You smiled slightly at the agent’s words.
“Will I get to see Earth, now?” Alex smiles, as she checks your last blood sample.
“Yes, and don’t worry you’ll get to see more and more with time.” You and Alex both, quickly, turn your heads toward the door; shouting coming from outside the room.
“You should understand that I am trying to keep my country safe, and without rules for the-” The door shut closed, as you and Alex both heard General Lane’s voice, booming from the level below both of you being cut off from the, now closed door.
You felt a ping of guilt flow through you, the General, that anger you heard from him was because of your presence, you knew it so.
“Kara, should be here soon.” Alex said, going back to her work, silently.
You had learned in the last two weeks that your being here had caused a lot more problems than anticipated, you had been told multiple times by Alex and Kara and some computer nerd, that you were not the problem, and that this was none of your fault. You were sure that it was your fault, but you wouldn’t let them know that. You knew they were trying to fix it.
Kara slipped in through the door letting a few booming words get past the doorway and closed it immediately.
“I’m here!” She smiled across the serious room.
While kara was all smiles, you could only think of how this was all your fault but you couldn’t do anything to fix it, you didn't have a clue where to start if you were to fix things.
“Are they still arguing…?” You asked, staring blankly at her. Kara nodded her head guiltily, and you rested your head in your hands, feeling defeated.
“Hey, let's get going, we're gonna have so much fun, today!” Kara put her hands on your forearms, and wiggled them gently, making you look up at her, while she tried to cheer you up.
---
The shirt felt weird, and the the sweater was going to make you suffocate. Anyways, you walked out to show Kara.
"Wow- Are you okay?" Kara asked when she noticed you're stressed face, and you shook your head.
"It's too tight." Kara rushed over and pulled the sweater off you, then giving you different clothes of hers to try on.
You weren’t sure how the other Kryptonian wore this every day, it felt like you would melt with, pants, a button-up shirt, and a sweater that made it feel like you had flown too close to the sun with Icarus.
“How- How do you wear this?” Kara chuckled at your question and walked over to you.
“If you're hot, you could try it without the sweater?” You nod in a hurry and she pulls it over your head, then putting it away as you speak.
“Do you have a breakfast?”
“Do I have a-” Kara started to repeat your question, before she realized what you were asking. “Yes, I do! Do you like pancakes?” Your face lit up with excitement, shouting,
“PANCAKES?!” Making Kara jump a little, but smile all in all at your excitement. “I love pancakes, so much” You sat down smiling, happily awaiting your pancakes.
-
“Okay, last thing is glasses.” Kara moved over to her bed, after cleaning up breakfast.
“Oh, that’s okay Kara, my eyesight is perfectly fine. I can even see through walls.” You took a bite of pancake.
“No, it’s not for your eyesight-”
“Are they spy glasses then?” You cut her off with your curiosity and a mouthful of pancakes.
“No, let me finish this time.” She gave you a strict look.
“Right, sorry.”
“Thank you. The glasses are for hiding your identity, so then if you ever want to be a superhero like me, no one will tell the difference between you and your superhero counterpart.” There was an awkward silence between the two of you for a moment.
“Can I talk now?” You asked innocently.
“Yes.” Kara breathed out, trying to hide her smile from how wholesome you were.
-
You touched down unsteadily on the concrete ground, wearing some of Kara’s clothes and a rain jacket, even when it was nowhere close to raining, with nice clear blue skies, but Kara wanted to make sure you wouldn't be cold. The dark color of your jacket was a large contrast from your lighter shirt and jeans, making you pop from the dimness of the backstreet you now stood in.
Your eyes scanned everything, the grove in the rocks, small piles of trash scattered around, a tattered, worn, pink couch that you knew wasn’t top of the line but was more comfortable than most, the steam coming from a mysterious place in the wall, the little pieces of grass swaying in the wind that blew by you invisibly and all the different textures of dirt, bricks and the fresh sounds that came with this brand new location on Earth.
“Come on, Y/n/n.” Kara gestured for you to follow her out towards the world, with tall buildings all around, the part of the world that was much more colorful, and warmer feeling, than this place, far from this place in between two large bricks..
To Kara this part of the world was always more chaotic, more noisy, more littered with people, more enemies around, and more threats. But to you, it was the best most exciting, most-
“What’s this?” Had been your question of the day, wanting to know the answer to all the different objects you had encountered, big or small, yearning to know what they were, why they looked like that, and how they worked. Even trying to go and touch a snake you found before being hissed at and scared out of your mind by its aggressiveness. All you wanted was to pet it.
“That’s a pen, Y/n.” Kara said, taking no more than 5 seconds, away from her coffee, to see what you were holding up and noticing the confusion plastered on your face.
“What is its function, though?” You examined the pen closely, not sure what it could be, while Kara moved all her things into one hand and looked over at you.
“It holds thoughts on paper.” She took it from your hands, and you almost grabbed it back, but waited, hoping she would read your mind. She uncapped the pen, writing out both your names on a paper she needed for work, while you stared in awe, but that was soon interrupted by a shout, as the elevator doors opened.
"Keriaaa!" Cat yelled for what seemed like the millionth time, before walking out of her office, hands on her hip, as Kara ran in, with you behind her.
"Miss Grant! I am so sorry, It will nev-".
"Who," Kara was cut off by Cat "is that, keria?"
She looked at you, suspiciously with a pointed finger. Kara hadn't thought about having to explain to Miss Grant about your being here.
"Y/n? She- uh-" Kara couldn't think. You poked out from behind the older Kryptonian and greeted Miss Grant with a small smile and a wave.
"Hello!" You didn't know she was supposed to be intimidating or a big respected news lady, not that you knew what the news was, to you she was just another regular Kryptonian, but this Krypton didn't have flying cars or anyone speaking Kryptonese and the clothing choices were very different, and no else could fly around like you could, so it wasn't really Krypton, but you didn't know anything else. Not until the DEO had told you everything you knew so far about this planet, which wasn't very much.
"Cousin! She's my cousin. Y/n is. My Foster Mom's, sister's daughter." Your face scrunches in confusion.
"I'm actually-" Kara swung her arm over your shoulder, bring you into a side hug.
"Hanging with me for a little while, for a visit, we don't see each other much." Kara pauses for a moment, "and my-".
"Keria." Cat said curtly as she nursed her newest headache "All this nonsense is making my head hurt, and all without my coffee." Kara hands the coffee over awkwardly and pulls you out of the room.
"Have I been calling you the wrong name this whole time?" Kara looks over at you, exhausted.
"No, it's Kara."
You think about it for a moment. "Oh, well I don't think the lady in there knows that.”
"She does." Kara lets out a sigh, glancing over into her boss’ office, pulling a spinny chair over for you to sit in.
You sat down and discovered that the chair moves in circles, without moving across the room itself. It was one of the coolest things you had ever seen. You spun in the chair a few times before stopping abruptly.
The phone was ringing, but to you that was the sound of death.
“Kar- Kara! What is that alarm for??” Kara was quick to assure you it wasn’t an alarm, and you didn’t need to panic.
“It’s just the phone ringing, Y/n, don’t worry.” Kara picked up the call, and immediately started drawing on a paper, with her pen. Which you now knew the function of; to hold memories on a paper.
-
You tapped Kara on the shoulder for the millionth time, when she finally turned towards you, staring daggers. You instantaneously backed up and left her alone until the phone call had ended.
“Y/n,” She whisper yelled towards you, “that was an important call. I need you to-”
“Kara, I really have to go the bathroom.” You interrupted.
“What?”
“Where is the bathroom?” Kara now understanding, showed you to it, so you wouldn’t get lost.
---
“Hey Kara,” Jimmy Olsen walked towards the blonde.
“Hey!” She smiled at her friend, starting to worry as you had been gone for almost a half hour, in the bathroom.
“Winn, might have told me some interesting news...” Jimmy makes a questioning face at Kara, before they are interrupted by their boss, who had noticed Kara’s little cousin was gone.
“Keria! I need you make sure layout has the right colors I sent them!” Cat yelled from her office.
“I’ll be back," She started to walk away, saying to herself "She should be back soon,” Her voice turns into a whisper. “hopefully...” As Kara gets on the elevator headed straight for layout on the floor below.
-
“Hello…? Kara…?” You walked aimlessly back towards her desk, as Cat waved you inside her office.
“Keria is doing something for me. So. Your Keria’s little cousin?” She takes off her glasses and invites you to sit on the couch. You sit and nod.
“Yes, I am her- Cousin.” You struggled to get the words out, not remembering how to articulate the new word. The older woman hummed in response and sat across from you, crossing her legs, one over the other, staring you down.
“Keria doesn’t talk much about family.” She pondered in her seat.
“I live- Far away, so I do not visit very much.”
“Do you stay for long when you do visit?” She questioned you, and you froze having no idea what to say.
“Uh not very long, usually just- Days.”
“Days?”
“One days, usually.”
“Kara is quite a lot older than you it seems, what do you get up to when she is at work all day?”
“I work, also.” You outright lied.
“You do?” She asked questionably.
“Yes, I do… Oh, and I am 14.” You said proudly, if you didn't know anything in the world, you would always know how old you were. “Kara is much older than me, yes. We are cousins.” You smile at her trying not to seem weird.
“Y/n!” Kara practically shouts your name from the doorway, walking in to meet you. You stood at her arrival and smiled at Miss Grant as Kara took your arm and pulled you towards her desk.
“What was that? Did you tell her anything? What did she ask you?” Kara was mad and slightly worried her boss knew she had lied to her.
“I just told her I am 14, and we are cousins.” You starting to walk towards your chair but stopped in your tracks.
“Keria. Do you always interrupt people’s conversations like that? We were learning so much about each other.”
“I’m sorry Miss Grant, Y/n has,” Kara takes half a breath and continues. “School work she needs to be working on.” The Girl of Steel really got out of that just by the hem of her cape.
-
The constant sounds of the squeaky chair, spinning around and around, started to irritate the girl with super hearing.
The world started to spin faster and faster around, your vision blurring and then it stopped. All quite suddenly, almost throwing you out of the chair. Kara tightly held onto the chair, digging her fingers in it just enough to get a good grip and stop the irritating noise.
“Can you, please, stop.” She begged you. “Once I finish this article, we can go around the city, do you like ice cream?” You had no idea what an icecream was, but you wanted to have some and nodded in response, but groaned at the world still spinning a bit before your eyes, slowing down by the second.
“Thank you.”
---
You ran down the curb of the street, a smile on your face, as you secured you and Kara’s spot in line for ice cream. You curiously watched others walk away with happy faces, holding their ice cream from a triangle tube! You were excited to say the least.
Kara chuckled at you, “Excited?” she said walking up to you.
“More than! I’ve never ever had ice cream, even, in the history of all the worlds!” Kara couldn’t help but smile at your excitement for new things, knowing you would be learning about a lot of new things in the coming months, just as she once did.
“What?” You chuckled, noticing your new friend, observing you fondly.
“Nothing…” Kara said smiling, and continued to look you over, now understanding that you were going through what she did. The blonde made a vow to herself, in that moment, waiting for ice cream that she would always make sure you weren’t alone, like she had so often felt when she first got to Earth. Now she had a mission, someone to take under her wing and watch over. She never got that chance with her cousin.
You feel in love with ice cream, loving every part of it. Kara becoming your friend, along with Alex and the computer nerd, Winn, was one of best things ever! Everyday was fun, well the days without someone on the verge of death, were always a good time. Wether you were at the arcade with Alex, or at girls night with the scientist, named Lena, or just saving the day, when you were allowed to at least. And over time you were sure that one day you would call this place home, even if at first it wasn't so high on your priority list...

Treats and Collars
by Trash_PandaTO
"The woman nodded, still smiling, and slid a dog leash towards Kara before pulling out her wallet to pay for it.
Kara didn’t know why she had to make a comment about it. Maybe it was because she felt a little dazed from their little back-and-forth so far, or maybe she didn’t want their interaction to end too quickly, so as she pulled the leash towards her to scan the tag, she said:
“And who’s this for?”
The woman paused for a few seconds, long enough for Kara to wonder if she had crossed a line, said something wrong, though she couldn’t imagine why her simple question might have come across as offensive. But then the woman leaned forward a little, as if she was about to share an important secret.
“Oh, it’s for bad girls who don’t behave.”

A Saiyan in the DC Universe!?
by Imagineimagineimagine
While you weren’t exactly sure what would happen after you died in that sudden traffic accident, meeting God, and being offered the opportunity to reincarnate, definitely wasn’t something you were expecting to happen. Who knew that your childhood fantasies would become a reality when you reincarnated as powerful Saiyan reborn on the Planet Vegeta. Sadly, it wasn’t long before the planet was blown up by Frieza; and you alone escaped to the “uneventful” little dirt-ball known as Earth. Imagine your surprise then, when you emerged to find yourself now living on the same planet as Batman, Superman, and the rest of the DC Pantheon.

“I’m here for Winslow Schott Junior.” He had known it was coming all morning, after he found the stupid toy on his desk. After the news story that he quickly got up and turned off when it came on the TV. He couldn’t ignore it anymore, this was real. And he knew that it was only a matter of time before his father made another move. One to come after him.
Just as he had expected, the FBI agent was already biased against him. Her interrogation implying that his father had contacted Winn, that Winn knew what was happening. So yeah, he panicked when she asked if his father had made contact. Because he didn’t want to show her the stupid doll that was clearly a message from his father. The one that was waiting for him this morning when he came into work. It made him sick, knowing that his father found him so quickly. He thought that he was doing better at hiding, blending into the crowd. But he wasn’t.
Kara was trying, being kind and talking to him. Even helping him when he had to admit to the federal agent that he had lied. After handing off the toy and coming up with a plan for Winn to wear a wire as he went in to meet his father, he found himself out on the balcony. It wasn’t a rooftop, and it wasn’t with Bucky. But he could really use his best friend right about now. Winn didn’t know what to do, was terrified of what was going to happen, and just needed the comfort of the person who had been there since the day Winn lost everything. The wind blew through his hair as he looked out over the city, Kara coming to talk to him. And she helped, and it was nice, but it wasn’t Bucky. He hadn’t talked to him in almost three years.
Standing at the pier, Winn allowed them to hook him up with a wire. After a few tests to make sure that the levels were good, they sent him in. His hands were shaking as he entered the old arcade building, where so many memories were made. Winn having gone with his father after they first moved to California, where the two would have fun with the different machines, try to figure out if they could beat all of them with math and technique. But now? Entering the building, it made him feel younger. Like the scared little eleven year old boy that watched his father kill an agent and get dragged off to prison.
‘I love you, do you love me.’ Echoed through the room, light flickering as he walked further into the building. ‘I love you, do you love me’ He felt sick, and so badly wanted to turn around and run out. But he knew that Bucky would tell him he could do this, he could help get his father back into prison where he belonged. And that it would all be okay after, that they could go sit on the rooftop and ignore the rest of the world. Locating where the noise was coming from, Winn felt his stomach tie into a knot. That doll looked like him, a clear sign from his father. Picking it up, he continued to walk past various machines and toys until he saw his father standing right in front of him.
“Dad?” He called out, “you need to turn yourself in.” And then he was face to face with him. The man who was in his nightmares, the one that Winn feared so much. ‘I’m sorry I was gone so long.” His father spoke, Winn taking a few cautious steps forward. He never imagined he’d have this conversation, never thought that it would be possible for his dad to break out of prison. But he did, and now he was standing right in front of him. “You need a doctor, you need some help.” Winn wasn’t begging, it was said more as a fact.
“My son, my good boy. My greatest work.” A scoff left Winn’s lips at the words. There was no way that his father saw him as anything but property. All his father cared about were his toys. Holding up the stupid doll that he had picked up earlier, Winn threw it on the floor. “I thought this was your greatest work?”
Silence sat in the room for a moment, Winn frozen in place. “We’re the same you and I, we’re linked.” Words that Winn had feared, his thoughts running back to Korbin reminding him of how he was sure that Winn was going to turn into his father. “That genius, lesser people call madness. That’s inside of you too.” His hands were shaking, Winn refusing to cry as he tried to fight what was being said. Bucky told him that he was nothing like his father, and Bucky wouldn’t lie to him. “We’re not the same.”
Winn didn’t have the guts to say anything else, instead frozen as he looked at his dad as he continued to speak. “Why didn’t you come visit me? I just wanted to know that you were okay.” He made a point to never visit his father, Winn wanting nothing to do with him really. “I was not okay. I was eleven when I watched my dad get dragged off to prison for murder. How okay could I be after that, dad?”
The doors burst open, FBI agents swarming the building demanding that both their hands be raised. Winn was quick, putting his hands up in the air. But his dad? No he didn’t, instead smoke started to fill the room as he ran out. “Weapons free” This agent was the worst, as she gave her order and Winn had to jump out of the way to avoid being hit by any stray bullets. “He-he’s not here.” Winn spoke as the smoke cleared the room, his father was gone and they didn’t catch them. But Winn knew, he was going to come back. He was going to come back and try to find Winn.
Pacing Kara’s apartment, Winn held his phone in his hands. He didn’t know what else to do, he didn’t know where else to go. But Kara? She was trying, she was there. And while Winn knew that he had a crush on her, that he shouldn’t be around her when he was this emotional, he didn’t know what else he was supposed to do. The only other person  he wanted to be with wasn’t here. So he walked across her apartment as he tried to convince himself that it was going to be okay.
“There’s something rotten inside of him, something that can’t be helped.” Winn snapped, knowing that Kara wasn’t going to see it that way. “He’s sick, you said so yourself Winn. One day he was normal and the next he wasn’t.” Shaking his head, Winn backed away from her. “No, it can’t be like that.” It had to be something else. “Sometimes that’s just the way that it is.” Kara spoke softly, taking a step towards him. “Well then what’s to stop it from happening to me?” His voice broke, tears threatening to fall
Sitting on her couch, he avoided her gaze. “We were inseparable. We looked the same, we talked the same. We liked all the same things.” In Newark the two were often told that they were adorable, the father and son relationship that everyone wanted. “And now he says we’re linked, and what if he’s right? His genes are like ticking time bombs inside of me just waiting to go off. Turn me into him.” Taking a shaky breath, Winn looked forward as he tried to ignore the fact that Kara was right there. That she was trying to help him. But she wasn’t Bucky, she wasn’t his best friend. She wasn’t there when Korbin had locked him inside of his locker. She wasn’t there the night that his dad got dragged off to prison. And she wasn’t there as he suffered through all the horrible foster homes, high school bullies, and every other moment that shaped him into who he was. He lost that person three years ago, and so badly wanted him right now. To pull him into his arms and tell him he was safe, that he was going to be okay. “Every time I start to get angry I think, could this be it? Could this be the day that I lose everything?”
He needed to get out of there, leave and just be anywhere but here. Standing up from the couch, he listened as Kara begged him not to go. And part of him wished that she would have chased after him. Bucky would have. But she didn’t, and as he walked down the hallway he couldn’t clear his mind. Maybe if he did he would have heard his father coming up behind him. He wouldn’t have been pressed up against the window with a rag over his face, he wouldn’t be falling unconscious into his father’s arms.
Waking up was scary, taking a few moments to gather himself. His father’s voice telling him to not be scared. That it was going to be alright and that he wasn’t going to hurt him. Blinking slowly, Winn managed to find his voice. “What do you want?” It was shaky, the way he said the words, but he didn’t care. “I just need you to listen.” Not like Winn really had a choice in the matter. His hands were tied behind his back and he wasn’t exactly an escape artist. And deep down, he knew that the FBI wasn’t going to be looking for him as a victim, no they were going to assume that he was working with his father. Just like they did from the start.
His father’s plan included Winn going into the toy convention with a toy gun that shot real bullets. Telling Winn that he was going to kill Chester Dunholtz for stealing his father’s toy designs. Or well as his father put it, Winn’s childhood. There were bombs planted at the convention, bombs that would go off if Winn didn’t do what his father said. His hands were shaking, Winn terrified of what he was going to have to do. But knowing that he didn’t have a choice, because either way people were going to get killed.
He didn’t want to be like his father, he didn’t want to kill anyone. He wanted to be better, he wanted to be different. Fear building up inside of him as he looked into the eyes of the person he used to look up to. His father convincing Winn that he was going to save all these people by killing Dunholtz. “How did this happen to you?” Winn asked, not able to hide it anymore. He needed to know, the question that had been on his mind for 10 years. How did his father end up this way, and when was it going to happen to him?
“Even with all the amazing toys I’ve built, you are the best thing I’ve ever made. You’re just like me.” Words that Winn was terrified of. “I’m nothing like you.” He wanted to believe the words as he said them, Bucky had told them to him many times. Many nights on the rooftop where Winn would sit and get to express his fears, be honest about what he was feeling. But Bucky wasn’t here, no one was looking for him, and he was being held by his own father before being forced to take a life. “Don’t underestimate yourself.” Were his father’s last words before leaving Winn alone in the darkness of the abandoned toy factory.
Walking into the toy convention the next day, Winn was shaking. The gun in his hand feeling heavy as he headed towards the stage where Dunholtz was receiving his award. Standing there with the weapon in his hand as he tried to convince himself that he wasn’t this person, that he didn’t have to be this person. But he looked at all the children, all the families that were there and how his father was going to kill all of them. It was simple really, Winn sacrifice the rest of his life so they could all have theirs. Bucky would never look at him the same, probably not visit him when he was in prison. Be disgusted by the person that he had become, but it was a price that Winn was being forced to pay.
And then he heard the shouts of the FBI, telling Winn to drop the weapon in his hand. A bullet flying past him as a warning. Quickly he dropped the weapon and he felt himself fall to his knees. Not because he was being told to, but because he was overwhelmed. They came forward to arrest him, cuffing his hands behind his back and reading him his rights.
They caught his father. And after Winn had managed to convince them to look up the video footage from the hallway in Kara’s apartment, they let him go. After all he didn’t actually hurt anyone, and he was being forced to do something against his will. Making his way back to his apartment, Winn held onto the hoodie that he stole from Bucky before he left. The scent long gone but the memories of his best friend still on there.
Getting to the roof of his apartment building wasn’t hard, he had done it a few times since moving in. Holding the hoodie in his arms, Winn allowed himself to finally cry. Pretend that his best friend was holding him, telling him that it was going to be okay. Sobs were coming out choked as the tears continued to flow, because he didn’t know what to do. City lights were shining as Winn looked over the city, a view he had seen many times before. With the person who meant the most to him. But the words his father told him were playing in a loop on his head, Winn terrified of the time bomb that he was becoming. Because his father woke up one day crazy, and Winn had no idea when he was going to be next.

James gave a light knock on Anais' office door and stepped inside, wearing a bigger smile than usual. Of course, ever since he put Snapper in his place - leaving both men to their respective job roles - who wouldn't be happy?
"What can I do for you Mr. Boss?" Anais pushed her chair closer to her desk, putting her hands on her desk.
"I just sent a reporter to the Children's Hospital new building to see what we can get for an article so I need the pictures to go along with it."
"Oh, great!" Anais winced when she heard her own words. "Not like that! I meant — I'm happy to take the assignment before I lose my mind!"
James chuckled. "I take it Winn is still fixing your suit, then?"
Anais glared at nothing in particular but it was a deep glare nonetheless. "Yup," she muttered and got up from her chair.
Winn had kept his word about not letting her go out in the field until she told the DEO — primarily J'onn, Kara and Alex — about Cadmus' threat. It drove Anais up the wall that she wasn't able to convince him otherwise and the use of the physical threats was no good either as she would have to explain to everyone else why she suddenly decided to kill their friend. So, until she decided to tell the truth, Winn was basically holding her suit hostage.
To everyone else, he was just mending her suit.
"And how's Mon-El doing?" James curiously asked since he hadn't stopped by the DEO in a while. He only knew what he was told.
"Kara and him are learning to get along-ish," Anais said, "And we're testing Mon-El's abilities too. See what he can and can't do. He's not leaving the DEO for a while, I'm assuming. Poor guy must be going crazy too."
J'onn had given the order to test Mon-El in every possible way to deduce the danger he could post if left unsupervised. Winn was put in charge of monitoring him and recording the results to later discuss together.
Anais could only imagine the frustration Mon-El would be feeling soon since he'd already been cooped up in the DEO for days now and training since then. Maybe she could help in some way, she thought before leaving the office.

Anais walked down the street before the hospital site, adjusting her clothes and hair since she'd basically sped there from CatCo. As she approached the site, she began to smell the after scent of burnt rubber and metal, along with the horrible sight of the crumbled hospital.
"Oh, what happened here?" She stopped in front of the yellow tape keeping civilians away.
"Aliens happened," a familiar voice answered. Anais whipped her head to the right and saw Lena Luthor approaching her.
"Miss Luthor," Anais smiled politely, "I didn't expect to see you here."
"Yeah," Lena nodded. "No one expects to see a Luthor at accident sites unless they caused it." There was a brief moment of silence before she added, "And just so we're clear, I didn't cause this."
"I didn't think you did," Anais clarified for the woman's sake. "So what is Miss Luthor doing here, though?"
"Please, it's just Lena, I told you," the black-haired woman sighed. "And I was one of the investors of this building. It was brand new when it was destroyed."
"Millions of dollars lost, I assume," Anais gazed at the crumbled building. She could still see some leftover melted medical equipment peeking from under the walls.
"Oh please, it's not about the money," Lena set her hands on her hips. "This building was built because the first hospital was getting overcrowded. Now the children that did survive this, had to return to the first hospital."
Anais pulled her camera in front of her eyes and snapped a picture. "What happened to the building?"
"Your reporter hasn't come to you yet?" Lena nodded to the young CatCo. Reporter talking to a cop at the moment.
"Nope, I just got here, remember?"
"Well, we don't know much but we assume it was aliens judging by the mass strength of whatever hit the walls. Plus, some of the records from the kids say they saw hooded people."
"Ah," Anais started walking a bit to get better angles of the building. "Which could mean it was a regular human crime scene."
"But they didn't steal anything," Lena countered. "They just came in to destroy."
"Well, sometimes people don't need reasons to do something," Anais lowered her camera to see Lena giving her a look. "What?"
"I'm assuming you're like Kara in that you both share pro-alien opinions," Lena crossed her arms.
Anais gave a shrug of her shoulders. "Well, what's wrong with that?"
"Nothing. Everyone's entitled to their opinions and thoughts," Lena looked ahead at the building again.
"It's so refreshing meeting someone like you," Anais chuckled. She felt her phone buzzing and picked it out from her pocket. "Oh, gotta go. It was nice seeing you, though. Wouldn't mind doing this again."
Surprise etched across Lena's face, making her dark eyebrows simultaneously raise. "Really?"
Anaís paused after taking another picture to see Lena's expression. "What?"
Lena smiled warmly. "Not a lot of people would say that. In fact, I don't think I've ever heard that."
"You're nice and you're badass, so...yeah, I'd like to see you around," Anaís chuckled. "You're doing what I'm doing and, as I've said, I admire that."
Lena's smile widened, clearly beaming at the chance of a second friend. She hadn't admitted it but she liked to believe she was friends with Kara Danvers too. "Okay then, you're welcome at L-Corp anytime."
"Cool," Anaís beamed then. "Now I gotta run for real. See you around." She hurried past Lena to get going because if she wasn't at the DEO in the next five minutes, she was sure Arun would come for her himself.
~0~
"Again!" Arun shouted the order without hesitance.
A blonde speedster whipped past him in circles, repeatedly, until she would come to a stop and attempt to throw a lightning bolt she was meant to create during her run. Just as Anaís was about to throw her bolt, it shattered in her palms..
"Dammit!" she growled and glanced back at Arun who stood at the end of the room with his hands behind his back and no emotion on his face.
"Again!" he simply commanded once more.
She sucked in a breath and took off again. She'd been doing this for more than an hour now with no such luck. Arun silently watched as she sped in circles - a long circle too - to see exactly where she was going wrong. He never felt the visitors coming into the room, much less Anaís.
"Woah, that is awe and some!" Mon-El's cheer startled Anaís and caused the speedster to trip over her own feet. She came hurtling into a wall, face first. She groaned and turned on her back to glare at Mon-El then Arun and Winn for not warning her.
"Two things," Winn made a motion for Mon-El to listen, the latter even nodding his head to show him that he was indeed listening. "One: never sneak up on a speedster, especially when she's throwing lightning. And two: it's just 'awesome'. You got to put those two words together and you'll be golden."
"Awesome," Mon-El tested the word out and felt like it did sound better put together. He then looked over to Anaís who was getting back on her feet. "And sorry. Just thought that whole…" His fingers wiggled in the air as he attempted to mimic what she'd been doing, "...the whole lightning thing was cool…"
"You taught him the word 'cool' already?" Anaís dusted her legs off. Winn grinned. "Of course you did."
"If you three are finished talking, Anaís has a lot more practice to do," Arun spoke up with an air of annoyance. He knew well that they had a new alien amongst the DEO but he hadn't actually talked to Mon-El.
"Are you the other Solista?" Mon-El asked, though he was sure of the answer by the looks of his beam. "You got the whole lightning thing down, I assume?"
"Since I was a teenager. Child's play, really," Arun said plainly, shooting Anaís a look that meant to point out she was extremely behind. For that, Anaís looked down.
"W-well, I mean, it is lightning we're talking about," Winn purposely glanced at Anaís in hopes of lifting her spirits. "It takes a while to practice when it's the first try. I-I'm assuming."
Anaís smiled softly at him. She appreciated his attempt to help her out…until she remembered what he was doing with her suit.
"Yes, when we're teenagers," Arun brokered the silence without realizing it. "But Anaís is twenty three now."
"Okay, can we just call it a day with the training?" Anaís decided it was for the better lest Arun wanted a lightning bolt thrown at him instead of the practice dummy. "I'll continue tomorrow."
"Your call," Arun shrugged. "You wanna go get lunch?"
"No, I can't. Supergirl's waiting for me. We have a lead on that dead alien we found in the back of a car."
"Alright then, until tomorrow," Arun said and started heading out. He suddenly stopped though by the doorway and glanced back. "Oh, and Winn, the suit seems to be working fine right now." He made a gesture at Anaís' regular DEO suit she was wearing. "Have you finished mending it?"
"Nope," Winn replied without a second thought, even wearing that big smile Anaís was beginning to hate. "Still got kinks to figure out."
Arun nodded and walked out of the room.
"It doesn't have any kinks!" Anaís shouted after he was fully gone. "You're just purposely keeping it away from me!"
"Me? What?" His pretense sarcasm only made her even more mad. "Never."
"I'll kill you," Anaís warned but all Winn did was ask Mon-El if he wanted to continue practicing. With a shake of her head, she left the room and went to find Alex and Supergirl in the control room. "Anything on our alien perp?" Anaís stopped by them.
"Yes, actually," Kara motioned to Alex, "Alex was just telling me what the lab found."
"The thorn found in the dead body is from a Brevakk. Some sort of biological defense mechanism," Alex explained. "So, yeah, that's new and terrifying."
"Don't suppose there's any ideas where we can find him?" Anaís tried her luck.
"Turns out there's exactly one Brevakk registered in National City for the President's Alien Amnesty Act," Alex moved on over to an empty computer. She pulled up the profile of said alien. "And we got the address ready to go."
"Alright, so what's our first step?" Anaís looked between the more experienced women.
"It's just a check out, so...I think we're good," Alex's words surprised both aliens. "I got someone in mind I'll take."
"Are you sure?" Kara raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah, yeah, don't worry," Alex waved her off, really smiling like she meant it. "She's good, trust me." And with that cryptic description, she left.
"You want to train, then?" Kara asked Anaís once they were on their own. Anaís groaned and covered her face. "What?" Kara looked around in case anyone knew what she said wrong.
"I just finished a round with Arun and I didn't get it right."
"You mean the lightning bolt thing?"
"Yes!"
"When we agreed that he would train me, I didn't know Arun would be one of those uptight 24/7 trainers!"
Kara chuckled.
"And he won't get off my back for my pathetic attempts to create and throw a lightning bolt!"
"Don't get so worked up about it, remember how long Barry said it took him?"
"Yeah, but... he's a metahuman and I'm an alien. It's in my biology to get it!" Anaís exclaimed particularly loud enough to draw some attention.
Kara, in particular, was giving her a look. "Some funny words you used there." Anaís dropped her hands to her sides and looked back. "Sounds like something Arun would say." She'd come to learn that Arun's 'words of encouragement' were not so light. They seemed like backhanded insults instead.
"Well, he kind of did, and he's right. It's in my biology to get it and I'm taking longer than a kid would!"
"Okay, maybe you need to reel it back a little," Kara brought Anaís to the side so they could speak better. "You may be a speedster with incredible strength but you still need practice and you know that. I know you know that."
"Yeah, I know…" Anaís sighed.
"Then why don't you let Arun know that? He's the one that needs to reel it back a lot more." Kara suspected Arun was the one putting more pressure on things than Anaís really thought. "He's a hard coach, and maybe a good one, but a hard one nonetheless. He wants you to do exactly what he did and that's not gonna happen."
"Because I'm only half a Solista?"
"No, because you're you and you're different. Everyone is. So c'mon, let's go train nice and easy."
Anaís finally agreed and followed Kara to their training room meant just for them. They trained for about an hour before J'onn called them back to the control room. Alex had returned but not with good news. Their lead on the dead alien had been whisked away by a group of men in a suspicious can.
"Do we know who the men in the van were?" J'onn asked Alex, and the woman shook her head.
"No. But these weren't low-rent thugs. They were definitely combat-trained. They mean business."
"So do we. Or have you forgotten about that?" J'onn's snark startled all three women.
"Hey, what's with the grumpy?" Alex finally noted. "Today and yesterday. Is everything all right, J'onn?"
"I appreciate the concern, but I assure you, I'm fine."
"Don't make us pout," Alex nodded to Kara beside her.
"They're surprisingly good at it," Anaís admitted being victim to it a couple of times.
J'onn knew they would never let it be so it was better to get it out in the open. "I am not the last Green Martian. There is another. Her name is M'gann. Megan."
"It's a miracle, J'onn," Kara's eyes widened.
"I met her at that alien bar Alex spoke of. We talked, but... I think I made a mistake."
"Why do you say that?" Anaís asked. "What happened?"
"I offered to merge with her in the Martian way."
"But you guys just met…" Kara trailed off, thinking of something else.
"Psychically, Kara. The bond is the traditional Martian way of communicating. We...we link minds, share dreams, emotions, memories. We kept no secrets from one another. Imagine a world without ego, selfishness. Without... lies."
"That sounds beautiful."
"She didn't seem to think so. The moment I talked about it, she left. I am grateful to have you all in my life. I truly am. But with Martians, it's... It's different. It's deeper. Deeper than talking. Fuller. With her, there's a chance for me to live how I was meant to live."
Of course everyone there understood.
"Just tell her that," Alex encouraged him to go for a second attempt. "Why don't you try apologizing?"
J'onn seemed to be encouraged enough.
~0~
The night brought Alex and detective Sawyer to an illegal fight club that ended up in catastrophe. Supergirl nearly had her head torn off by a large alien creature, and neither her nor the detectives had luck in capturing the ringleader of the fight club. It did, however, leave them with a new clue that could lead the DEO to capturing the culprits.
It also led to a new wave of anger inside a certain Solista.
Mon-El had just failed to conjure up heat vision on a piece of cement when Anais came storming in.
"No heat vision, no x-ray vision…" Winn was recording the results on his tablet for later study so he was startled when Anais used her own heat vision to destroy the piece of cement. "Hey!" Winn made a gesture but Anais looked far too upset to care.
"Kara nearly got hurt in an underground alien fight club and I couldn't do anything about it and do you know why!?" She came storming up to him, making him backtrack several steps. "Because I didn't have my suit so they didn't call me in for backup!"
"Is she okay, though?" Mon-El thought to ask if only to pull some of that attention off Winn for safety reasons.
"Yes, but she could've gotten hurt," Anais deeply sighed then set her glare back on Winn. "C'mon, Winn, enough is enough. Give me my suit back"
Winn was first and foremost relieved to see that anger fading because it decreased the chances of being heat visioned. "I'll do it as soon as you come clean to Kara and the others."
Anais' hands twitched in the air as she air-strangled him. "I'm gonna—" She started for him again.
Winn jumped back, throwing his hands in front of him. "If you kill me now, you'll never get your suit!"
Anais stopped in her tracks and dropped her hands. "I really hate you right now."
"Yeah, got that," Winn swallowed hard and moved away to put down his tablet. "But you also know why I'm doing this."
Mon-El cleared his throat to remind the two of his presence. "Can I offer my help to Kara as an alternative?"
Anais briefly smiled at him. "Thanks, Mon-El, but I don't think the DEO wants to let you go out until you've finished your examinations."
"Well, I think we have," Mon-El gestured to Winn. "Right?"
"Sort of," Winn shrugged and turned to the two. He brought his fingers up to list what they knew so far of Mon-El's abilities. "No heat vision, no X-ray vision, but you're strong."
"As strong as Kara?" Mon-El curiously asked but Winn scoffed with a great big 'Ha!'
"No, not even close. No freeze breath, which is kind of a bummer, right?" Winn glanced at Anais but she was still kind of glaring at him. "Right. No flight either, but his leaping is fantastic. I'm... I'm talking about like "tall buildings in a single bound" kinda stuff. Yeah, we...we definitely have the makings of a superhero here."
"Superhero?" Mon-El repeated. "Is that what Kara's called?"
"Yeah. You know, you...you go out there, you fight crime, save people, wear a costume…"
"Yup," Anais crossed her hands. "I'm almost there…"
"Speaking of going out there, I'm, uh... I'm going kind of crazy in here," Mon-El admitted. "I could really use some fresh air."
"Yeah, you heard Hank. I mean, you got to stay here at the DEO."
"You know, I'll bet if I were outside, I could fly like Kara and you, Anais," Mon-El put on his best smile for the blonde.
But before Anais could say anything, Winn cut in. "Nice try, buddy. No, we got to stay here. Them's the rules. I mean, I'm new here. I'm trying to make a good impression."
"Failed!" Anais dramatically exclaimed, much to his annoyance. And because she saw his annoyance, she decided to go on ahead and make it worse. Screw being an adult, she shamelessly thought. "And you know what, Mon-El? I'll take you out."
Mon-El looked deeply surprised at the easy give in. "You will?"
Even Winn had the same reaction. "You will?"
"Yup!" Anais grinned from side to side. "I don't think it'll do any harm. But you gotta listen to me, alright?"
Mon-El was now almost grinning like Anais was. "Of course!"
"Anais y-y-you can't do that," Winn started wagging his finger, but by that point it was too late. "You're gonna get in trouble!"
"Feel free to join us, if you're so worried," Anais patted his arm.
"But I - but we can't!" Winn practically shouted in the room while Anais and Mon-El started leaving. He tried to stay put and just let the two aliens figure it out on their own how big of a mistake this would be, but…
He scrunched his face. "Damn you, Anais Allen-Mjorkland. I'm so weak." And he took off to catch up with them.

Mon-El didn't know anything about Earth but that didn't stop him from learning in one night. Especially when Anais introduced him to the cellphone.
"I gotta get me one of these!" Mon-El laughed after Anais showed him the search engine for bars.
"I'm sure we can arrange that," Anais tucked her phone into her back pocket and led the way to the bar across the street. "Maybe a small computer for the time being. Or a tablet!"
"You can't make promises like that," Winn trailed behind her, still unable to believe she was pulling this off.
"It's a computer with restricted WiFi," she reminded him that it wasn't a big deal. "Now let loose and have some fun, if you're capable of that anyways."
Winn stopped just by the doorway with a look of offence. "Excuse me?"
Anais smirked with Mon-El. They both knew they'd gotten him now.
"You heard me," Anais crossed her arms and watched as Mon-El went to open the doors for them. "Can you have some fun, Winn Schott?"
"And I continue to be weak," Winn scrunched his face in defeat while Anais yanked him inside the bar.
"Did I ever mention you're my absolute favorite alien in the whole DEO?" Mon-El said to Anais, making the woman laugh. "You are! Totally are!"
Winn did not agree with the sentiment and he definitely did not agree when they somehow found their way to the bar counter. Mon-El was introduced to human alcohol very quickly and he learned that it tasted really good. Anais monitored how much he drank but did let him experiment how much he could tolerate. She figured if anything went wrong she could speed him out of there in less than a second. But so far, he just seemed intent on mingling with the other humans and discovering what human men do for fun.
"Why do you guys like to arm wrestle so much?" Anais wondered out loud and reached for her own drink on the counter. Mon-El had just defeated his third opponent.
"He's cheating," Winn's flat tone made Anais laugh.
"Then go stop him or...have a drink and join him," Anais slid his untouched drink to him. "You can watch him while you're closer."
Winn knew his options were very limited here, and so with a small glare he picked his drink up and got up from his stool. He could hear Anais's second round of laughter while he walked away. She would not win forever, he thought.
Anais took refuge at the bar counter with the only other female in that place. As the hours ticked by, all the other customers started getting more and more annoying, in Anais' perspective. Mon-El had gone past arm wrestling and moved on to good old fashioned drinking challenges, most notably beer pong. But, to his credit, he had somehow gotten Winn to join in.
"Amazing," she huffed while she went for another drink. The two men ended up becoming more buddies than they had been earlier. Now she had become the third wheel. "Men are idiots."
"Tell me about it," the bartender mused when she walked by Anais.
Anais soon learned that, just like herself and Kara, Mon-El could actually not get drunk. However, Winn most definitely could. While they entered a series of drinking games, somehow Winn ended up winning most of them.
"Oh my God, he's a drinker," Anais said with a laugh as she and Mon-El watched Winn go at it against another fellow bar customer. They had a line of shots they needed to get through.
"So, you don't get drunk here?" Mon-El was curious as he gazed at his newly filled cup of beer.
"The earth stuff isn't strong enough for you guys," Anais shrugged, crossing her arms.
Mon-El picked up on her word choice and glanced at her. "How about you?"
"I'm half human, Mon-El. I don't get granted all the perks of a Solista. Don't get me wrong, it takes me way longer to get drunk than an average human but in the end, I can still get drunk."
"Have you ever tested the theory out of how many glasses it takes?" Mon-El offered her his glass of beer, making her laugh.
"My parents would kill me," she said, pushing his glass back to him. "They're humans and they don't really care how alien I am. I cannot drink when I'm supposed to be on business matters."
"I know I'm not from here but is this business?" Mon-El gestured towards the scene. Winn had just won another round of shots.
A smirk crossed Anais' face. "My business, anyways." It was Mon-El's turn to laugh.
A short time later, Mon-El had entered another wrestling match. He'd won every single one but the last man he went up again ended up with a broken elbow.
The man, angry, tried punching Mon-El but then broke his hand as well. His buddy went to fight Mon-El for support yet the Daxamite easily won as well with a simple 'push'. The human man crashed into a table behind them.
Mon-El was overly surprised with his strength but the other men had grown furious.
"Time to go!" Anais hopped off her stool after the strangers had met face to face with a glass table — another accident on Mon-El's part. She scurried through the group - possibly using her alien strength to push some of the men away - and got her two idiots out of there.
~0~
By the Anais returned home, she expected to find a dark apartment most certainly not Kara wide awake in the living room.
"Where were you?" Kara noticed Anais' disheveled appearance.
"One could say babysitting...or one could say proving a point," Anais fixed herself and released a deep breath. "Beginning to think my plan backfired and it was more of the first then the latter."
Kara couldn't and honestly didn't want to try and understand what all that meant. There were more pressing matters to deal with anyways.
"What are you doing up so late anyways?" Anais pulled her jacket off and headed for the couch chair. "I thought Kara Danvers always has a timely bedtime set up." Kara playfully rolled her eyes but even the playfulness faded very quickly. Anais noticed it and knew that the Kryptonian was worried and/or upset. "Kara, what is it?"
Kara hesitated to speak but after a moment of thinking, she figured it was better Anais knew now in case something happened later.
~ 0 ~
Veronica Sinclair - aka Roulette - was a formidable human enemy to the DEO. She proved herself last night when Supergirl made a visit to her and Sinclair only retaliated with confident words knowing she would not be defeated that night.
Kara now relayed her visit to J'onn, Alex and Anais (again). "I should've heat vision'd that stupid champagne glass out of her hand," Kara balled her fists on her sides.
"That's what she wanted," Anais offered a different perspective on the matter. She'd gotten over her anger last night when Kara had told her. "Supergirl heat visions local human and the media has a field day with that."
Kara gave her points on that, but it didn't stop her from wishing she could've used her heat vision. "I mean, do you think Sinclair is right about this? That she's the only one who can offer something to aliens?"
"Not a chance," Alex answered instantly.
"But then how do you stop them from letting themselves be used and exploited?"
"By offering something more powerful than fear," J'onn settled things and glanced at Winn at his desk. "Winn?"
"Nothing!" The man in question startled awake — his hand holding an ice bag on the side of his slipped and he nearly hit his head on the desk. "I'm not hungover! You're the one being defensive!"
Anais barely hid her smile from the others while J'onn approached a hungover Winn.
"Agent Schott—"
"S-sir, yes, s-sir!" Winn dangled a hand at the front of his forehead. "Er, Mon-El is doing great, by the way. He's here in the DEO. He's here. Did you know his heart is on the other side?"
J'onn gave a nod of his head. "That's absolutely fascinating. You know, the DEO received reports this morning of a six-foot alien attacking two men in a bar last night."
Anais' own smile faded upon learning that.
"The news is so very violent these days…" Winn briefly said as he slowly turned his chair back to his desk.
"Apparently this alien had a 5'2" sidekick—"
Winn jumped out of his chair, leaving it to spin from the force just to shout, "I am 5'9!"
"No, wait," Anais slid in between the two men with her hands raised in front of her, "This one's on me. I'm the one who took Mon-El out. Winn actually tried stopping me several times."
"Anais, why'd you do that?" Alex moved forwards with the same questionable face as J'onn.
"Because sometimes I'm an idiot," Anais answered with the simplest of shrugs. "But this was totally on me."
"You know better," J'onn snapped unexpectedly. "Everything we do is under a microscope. We work so hard to make humans trust us. All it takes is for one alien to ruin it for all of us."
Anais' eyes had slowly widened while J'onn scolded her. "I-I didn't mean to do that…"
"You should've thought about it!"
Alex exchanged looks with Kara, both agreeing J'onn was projecting his fight with M'gann on Anais. "J'onn, why don't we go talk somewhere else," Alex held onto his arm and persuaded him to walk with her.
"I'm really sorry," Anais said to Kara and Winn afterwards. "I wasn't meaning to do that. I was just...I was mad at you," she made a languid gesture at Winn, which didn't surprise him. "And I have to apologize to Mon-El too."
As she left, Kara briefly stopped by Winn to ask, "What's she mad at you for?"
"It's...it's just better if I hold off on that," Winn made the call thinking Anais would want to explain it herself once she got the courage to actually accept that CADMUS was looking into her.
~ 0 ~
Kara caught up with Anais in the hallway, and while Anais didn't exactly say why she was mad with Winn, Kara got the jist that it'd been a long argument now.
Anais led the way into Mon-El's training room where the man was currently doing his training. When he saw Kara, he assumed he was in trouble for the previous night.
"I'm sorry," he immediately said but Anais raised a hand to stop him.
"You're good, I'm the one who screwed up."
Mon-El blinked. "You were?"
"Yes," Anais sighed. "I was basically trying to stick it to Winn and I ended up using you. It was very wrong of me."
"Well…" Mon-El bobbed his head, "I've done worse, believe me. But this has helped me realize something neither of you told me about." Anais exchanged a glance with Kara, both confused of what he meant. "Hank told me I needed to stay here because it wasn't safe. But he didn't mean for me. He meant it wasn't safe for humans. From me."
"Listen, we've all been through that," Anais spoke up first and received an agreeing 'mhm' from Kara beside her. "I was taken in by human parents when I was a kid and just got my freedom a couple months ago. The government didn't want to let me out because they were afraid I'd hurt someone."
"After I first got to Earth, I went to my junior prom and Scott Klein asked me to dance. I stepped on his foot and I broke three of his toes," Kara shared her embarrassing yet meaningful story. "It's just gonna take some time to get used to having these abilities and...and living in this world."
Mon-El appreciated both women trying to make him feel better and even showing sympathy for him, but he was especially thankful towards Kara considering their respective backgrounds. "I know it's not easy for you to be nice to me, Kara. Where I'm from and all."
"That's not why I've been standoffish. And don't say I haven't been," Kara sighed and dug her hands into her back pockets. "My parents gave me so much. And I was so loved. My dad was a scientist and my mom fought for justice. They were proud, strong people. Good Kryptonians and even better parents. And that's the way I want to remember them."
"And why shouldn't you?"
"Because...they weren't perfect. And no matter how smart they were, or how hard they tried, they couldn't save us."
"Yeah, you never met my parents. They weren't exactly role models," Mon-El shook his head.
"But mine saw the end of the world coming, and didn't do anything about it!"
"Hey, it's not...it's not your parents' fault. It's not even Krypton's fault. Okay, we shared a star, that's all. I promise that I will do as I'm told from now on."
"And I promise not to be a manipulative bitch," Anais raised her hand but then pointed a warning finger at Mon-El. "Don't repeat that."
"Repeat what?" Mon-El blinked with genuine oblivion. He wasn't up to speed with curse words yet. "Anyways, I heard you survived Draaga." Kara nodded. "I once saw him fight on Warworld when I was, uh, guarding the royal family. Draaga took a blade to the right leg. It hit a nerve cluster. He's favored his left ever since."
The new piece of information was enlightening for Kara. "Thank you."
~ 0 ~
A couple hours later, the group got word that J'onn was missing. The only known person who'd seen him was M'gann and since she hadn't shown up for her shift it led Alex to conclude J'onn was taken by M'gann's boss: Sinclair.
"The fightclub was cleared out," Supergirl returned to the DEO very put out from her failed trip. "It's like it was never there."
"And there's no sign of where they went?" Anais curiously asked since she'd once again been planted at a chair instead of the field.
"No," Supergirl crossed her arms and thought about it for a minute.
"Okay, so where are we going to find them now?" Alex leaned against a table, trying not to look so frustrated even if she was.
"I bet that fight club has a list of recurring invitees and I think we may know one invitee in particular," Supergirl's suggestion made Anais jump from her chair.
"I'm coming! It involves no actual fighting therefore no need for super suit!"
She practically led the way to Lena's office. Kara understood her since Anais hadn't come out to the field in weeks now. She'd feel antsy too if she was cooped up (which then led Kara to feel even more sympathy for Mon-El).
"Excuse me, you can't go in there!" Lena's assistant failed to stop Anais and Kara from barging into Lena's office. "I swear I just blinked and they got right past me!" the poor woman did her best to explain to Lena before she was fired.
Lena, for her matter, was quite surprised at the sight.
"Lena, I'm sorry," Kara apologized first and foremost. "We just need to talk to you."
"Not her fault," Anais jerked a thumb at the secretary.
Lena's calm smile was a sight of relief for the two aliens. "Jess, will you make a note downstairs that Kara Danvers and Anais Allen are to be shown in right away whenever possible?"
Jess was surprised but since it meant she wasn't going to be fired she dutifully noted it and hurried out of the office.
"Woah, thanks," Anais beamed.
"So, how can I help?" Lena gestured for them to come sit down.
"We think a friend of mine has gotten involved in something shady," Kara's excuse was met with a light scoff from Lena. "It's an actual friend, we swear. And he's missing."
Lena got serious fast and nodded for her to continue.
"Do you know of a woman named Veronica Sinclair? She caters to people in your, um, your circles. Tight dresses, tattoos like Lisbeth Salander?"
Lena pursed her lips and played with a pen on her desk. "Yeah, I know Roulette. We went to boarding school together. I never liked her."
"We share the sentiment," Anais nodded. "We need to find her. And since her little fight clubs are mobile, we need to know where she's holding the next fight."
Lena seemed at a cross of amusement and impression. "And you assume I'm on the invite list?"
"Your last name is pretty famous," Anais shrugged.
"We wouldn't ask if we had any other option," Kara promised Lena as a last means to get her to talk.
Luckily for them, Lena was a smart, kind woman. "I'm a Luthor, of course I'm invited to her little pop-up. Not that I'm interested in her type of entertainment." She wrote down the location of the next fight club and handed it to Kara.
"Thank you. We owe you, big time," Kara tucked the paper into her purse and stood up with Anais.
"Not at all. I know you'll be there for me when the time comes," Lena offered them a genuine, friendly smile.
~ 0 ~
Together with the DEO, J'onn and even M'gann, Supergirl managed to put an end to the fight club with minimal injuries. Mon-El's tip about the Draaga came in handy to put the creature down for a bit. She was even more relieved to see J'onn patch things up with M'gann because it meant J'onn would finally have some peace.
This time Kara was the one to get home to find Anais still awake. Of course Kara wasn't surprised since Anais wanted to know the outcomes of the fight club.
"I would've stayed at the DEO but figured there was no use for me anyways," Anais shrugged at the counter where she was having a drink. "Update: I still can't do the stupid lightning bolt trick. I'm considering opening a stupid breach to find my young adoptive Dad for another training session because it is not going well."
"Arun's still too hard?" Kara assumed since Anais hadn't talked about him in a while.
"He expects too much from me," Anais sighed. "But what happened with Sinclair? Is she done for good now?"
"No," Kara ruefully answered. "Alex says Maggie got the orders to let Sinclair go and there's nothing we can do about it, not even the DEO."
"We'll get her one day," Anais assured. "So how come you're coming back late, then?"
"I…" Kara removed her glasses and set them on the counter, "...stopped by Mon-El's room to talk to him."
"What about?" Anais got up from the stool and went into the cupboards for some more wine.
"I offered to take him under my wing, basically, and show him around the city for real now."
"Yeah, because I totally screwed that up," Anais cringed at the reminder and pulled two glasses from the counter. "And the DEO is going to let you do that?"
"Yup, it's sort of what I did with you in the beginning, remember?"
"How could I forget!"
Kara smiled. "I think it'll do him some good. Plus, I can get him a job at CatCo. Maybe not as a reporter but somewhere there should be good."
"Speaking of," Anais returned to the counter with two glasses of red wine, "Your editor called about that new article you sent in. Apparently he expects your rewrite tomorrow morning."
"Mm," Kara sipped some of her wine. "May have sent him a new one earlier at his e-mail which I got off from James."
"Taking initiative," Anais pointed. "Very good. Look at you, Kara Danvers, having all your crap together. I'm jealous."
Kara chuckled and lowered her glass to the counter. "Well, maybe you can unburden yourself a little bit by telling me what you and Winn are arguing about."
"Ooh, smooth," Anais commended Kara for her easy transition but was still reluctant to go into detail about her disagreement. "But it's nothing, and you shouldn't worry about it."
"I worry when my friends aren't okay. Right now, it looks like you're not okay, so...tell me. Please?"
Anais released a small sigh. "I mean, I just don't want it to be made into a bigger deal than it is...just like Winn made it."
"Well, what is it?"
Anais put her wine glass down and prepared to spill the truth. Who knows, maybe it would be better for her. "CADMUS sent a message for me at the DEO." Kara's confused expression implied she hadn't heard that from anyone at the DEO. "Yeah, Winn caught it and showed it to me instead. Apparently, they want to use me as a fuel for their growing army. Whether or not I want to join them is not really up for debate in their perspective. They made it very clear that they were not above taking me dead."
"Oh my god," Kara said, horrified. "So how does this go to you getting mad at Winn?"
"Because he told me to tell you guys and I said no so instead of nagging me to tell you the truth, he is keeping my suit hostage until I decide to tell you the truth."
"Why wouldn't you want to tell us anything?"
"Because you guys would overreacting and keep me on lock-down like Mon-El!"
"If it was to keep you safe then why wouldn't you?"
"Because I just got my freedom, Kara. I don't want to lose it again." Anais picked up her glass but at first glance she could tell Kara was putting more thought into the situation.
"Maybe Winn's making the right call in keeping you out of the field. The less you're out there, the less chances CADMUS will find you or hurt you."
"No ma'am, not you too," Anais shook her head. "I've spent the better part of my life in seclusion. I'm not doing it again."
Kara was not aiming to argue like Anais and Winn. She would rather find an alternative that would benefit both sides. Making peace was her job, after all.

order 66
Tumblr media
(I really wanted the gif with him holding a toy gun but I can't find it 😕)(Star Wars, I can't think of the word but like back story that wasn't in the films)
You were late home from work so you decided to grab a McDonald's on the way hom. You got your recite with your order number on and you were order 66.  You took a picture of it and under neath you put “"don't want to keep coming here if this happens 😂” And with that you posted it on your account. Your evening was peaceful and you had no paperwork to do so you went to bed early, getting a good nights rest.
The next morning you walked into the DEO, with Alex next to you. Kara was waiting for her breakfast you always brought. “"Why did you kill them!?” Winn whispers while walking past you not waiting for your excuse. You excuse your self from Alex and kara's conversation. You run past them trying to catch up to Winn, it wasn't very hard considering he was only going to his desk. “"It wasn't my fault I'm sorry, I never would of done it if I knew” you pleaded, “"hold did you not know?! I thought your brother taught you better than that.” Winn says raising his voice a little. “Don't you dare bring my brother into this, I only reason I know this is because I wanted him to be proud of me instead of belittle my intelligence” you raising your voice causing everyone to turn to you and Winns little spat.
“"Ok, I'm sorry for bringing your brother into this, But you did kill all of the Jedi” “"like, I said earlier, not my fault” both of you now unable to keep the smirks off your face. “"Oh like how emperor palpatine, was the good one and yoda was evil” Winn sasses you with a full on smile on his face “evil green space dude I am” you say in your amazing yoda impression, making both of you laugh. After a couple of minutes you both stop laughing to see the whole DEO still staring at you. Alex walks up to you “"I thought you guys were actually having an argument, not bieng stupid about that terrible film” for a second you just stare at her in shock before you take a step forwards to find supergirl in your way.
“y/n, calm down she's just joking” she says, you take a step back and in your most menacingly tone “"you better be joking or I'm coming for you when you don't have your little superhero to protect you” both of you laughter knowing she could always beat you. “"Hey, y/n, when it comes to game night will you be on my team?” “"Is that your way of asking me out on a date?” You smirk taking a step closer to him “"only if you say yes” “"then yes... and just saying it took you long enough, i was thinking me flirting was too subtle” you say with a chuckle.

Valkyrie - Winn Schott x Reader
Warnings: mild swearing, adorable winn.
Tumblr media
With your wings spread out, you soared through the inky sky, looking out for danger in National City. You had just moved from Parthas to become the apprentice of Winn Schott at CatCo WorldWide media. However you were never originally from Parthas
Your name is Y/n Pond. You're the daughter of The Doctor and Melody Pond aka River Song. You're part timelord and part human and you are 122 years old. Your mother and father travelled back in time to when Gallifrey existed and raised you there, until the high council of Gallifrey captured you, took control of your mind, experimented on you, gave you unlimited power that you never asked for and altered your appearance so that your eyes were rainbow and your hair was purple and gold. Lucky for you, you could camouflage your appearance to look relatively human. They turned you into there personal assassin and if you disobeyed, they would punish you in the worst ways possible. On my 100th birthday your parents found you and broke you out of your prison but you were badly injured and regenerated into a baby. It was then that they decided to go to Earth and try to raise you again, in Parthas. Your powers stuck through your regeneration and you don't think they will ever go away, hence why you have decided to use them for good, to try and wipe away your past. As your favourite comic book character Black Widow would say, I have red in my ledger. Now I need to wipe it out.
As you landed on top of a random roof top, you noticed a brown haired man about to enter a van when a group of, well, you would describe them as incompetent fools with guns and weapons came stumbling round the corner. Oh god this guy is gonna get killed if I don't do something quickly.
As you made your decent to the ground, you could hear the strange and the gang talking to each other with your super hearing.
"Hey bud, that's some fancy looking equipment you got in your van"
"Uh-uh yeah, yes it is, and if you don't mind I'm just gonna take my equipment with wm and out of your hair, yup, uh bye"
Just as one of them was about to shoot the, well, rather cute stranger, you landed inbetween him and the gang and caught the bullet in your hand.
"You know, it ain't nice to shoot at people, now why don't we solve this like civilised people, I will let you guys go as long as you don't attack this man. Its either that, or, well, you get your asses kicked"
"Move out our way bitch, or not only will this guy die, but so will you"
A fairly large bald guy with a snake tattoo around his arm started charging at you, so, obviously you blasted him with an energy blast.
"Okay, it seems you guys are getting your asses kicked"
Now picture the most badass fight scene with energy blasts, knives, guns, elemental manipulation, several types of fighting styles, flight, angel wings and one very awkward guy just gaping at how one person can take down 10 people without breaking a sweat.
"Wow that was a RUSH, " you screamed "now are you okay um"
"Winn, Winn Scott. W-who are you" he confusingly asked. Where have I heard that name before, oh it will come to me at some point.
"I have never actually thought of a super hero name before, how about Valkyrie. You can call me Valkyrie. Now if you excuse me I have a long night and a new job tomorrow, nice to meet you Winn"
And with that you spread my wings and flew off, not without hearing a very loud thank you being shouted.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Okay Y/n, new job, don't mess up, don't mess up don't mess up. That's all you repeated in your head as you stepped of the elevator into CatCo. Well that was until you bumped into someone and dropped your bag.
"shit, shit, shit, " you whispered "I am so so sorry"
You looked up and saw Winn. Oh fuck now I remember, he is my new boss.
"Its okay, honestly, on my first day I tripped over nothing, " he chuckled. You both rose from the ground as soon as you had picked up everything from your bag. "I'm Winn and you are?"
"I'm Y/n, Y/n Pond. I'm your new apprentice"
"Oh yes, YES. I was told you were coming today. Welcome to CatCo, if Miss Grant doesn't shout at you atleast once then well, you might be doing your job wrong" he again chuckled and you just stared at each other.
He lead you to your desk which was right next to his and you finally set my bag down. When you turned around, he was still staring. Then his eyes went wide and he gasped. Shit, he knows.
"You, you're, you're her aren't you"
"I-I don't know who you're talking about"
"Follow me" and with that he yanked your hand towards the lift and up to the roof.
You were nervously sweating, no one has ever recognised you before and you were fucking terrified.
As you walked onto the roof he wiped towards and pointed.
"YOUR VALKYRIE" He boomed.
Well I guess that's my identity blown.
"OKAY YES AND YOU CAN NOT TELL ANYONE PLEASE" you yelled back at him.
"Why would I do that, this is amazing, now I know three superheroes, WOOOO" huh, maybe that's why, wait there are more here. That's... Interesting.
"How did you know its me, I mean I am camouflaged to have h/l h/c hair and e/c eyes, not my natural appearance." you questioned.
"Your voice, I recognised it immediately, I would never forget that voice, " he said simply. At this point you were blushing like and idiot. Wait why am I blushing, oh fuck I can't have a crush already. " this is great, I could help you, oh please let me help you, please please please"
You just grinned at him and nodded your head, which caused him to raise his fist. I think this is gonna be a great partnership and an amazing friendship.

Hi darling could I please ask for a prompt with this Coffee shop meetings and Winn Schott in which the reader accidentally tripped him of something like that? Thank you

Your local café wasone of your favourite places. The life that seemed to flow through it was oneof those things that you could watch for hours. Little snapshots of everything thatpeople were up to, bubbles of their stories that you could only imagine at.There was the person hurrying everywhere, their phone close to their ear. Werethey working, or were they on the phone to a loved one in the hospital, assuring them that they could get hold of their favourite drink? You didn’tknow, but part of the fun was making up the rest of their stories.
You found yourselfcaught up in one of these little story moments when you accidentally walkedinto someone. One moment, you were looking in the window of the café as youheaded towards the door, the next you were bouncing back from walking intosomeone. Somehow, you caught yourself. You didn’t fall, but the other persondid. You reached out to stop him from falling, but it was all too fast.
‘I’m so sorry!’ yousaid, one hand jumping to your mouth, the other still grasping at the air wherethe person had been.
The guy groaned, winced slightly, before looking up. He blinked slowly. ‘Don’t worry,’ he saidhastily, looking at the floor as he eased himself up. ‘I – I shouldn’t havebeen looking at my phone.’
‘No, honestly, Iwasn’t looking either,’ you insisted, crouching slightly as if you might beable to stop him falling again.
He chuckled softly, shaking his head. ‘I guess I was – I was just distracted.’
‘The drinks hereare incredible,’ you said, shooting him a small smile. There was something abouthim that intrigued you. You wanted to get to know him better. Not just in theway you knew other people’s stories. You wanted to know the truth. You wantedto make him feel more at ease.
‘They really are,’he agreed, before giving himself a little shake and offering out his hand. ‘Winn.’
The idea to make apun bubbled up inside of you, but after bowling him over you didn’t feel likeit was the best idea. Instead, you shook his hand and introduced yourself.
‘Were you… Were youheading in there?’ He nodded towards the café, kind of shyly.
‘Yeah, you?’
For a moment, youthought he wasn’t going to answer. And then he nodded.
‘Looks a bit busy,’you noted, moving towards the door, feeling that he was following you. ‘Maybewe need to… um… share a table?’ You weren’t sure what made you say it, but assoon as the words were out you were glad for it.
‘I’d like that,’ hesaid, and when you looked back at him there was a bright, almost relieved smileon his face. One that you really hoped you’d be able to see again.

Resolutions
by Raosfire
A public gym is the last place Lena would ever be caught dead, until Sam points out that dead is exactly where she's bound to end up if she keeps working herself into the ground.
It turns out that the gym is just as terrible as Lena imagined, and she absolutely will not be going back.
That is, until she sees a gorgeous blonde on the weight room floor...
