[ID: a piece of digital art depicting Luz, Willow, Amity and Vee from the owl house at Luz's quinceñera. The piece takes place outside the owl house at night with the characters all dancing. Willow's dress is blue with yellow and pink flowers as decoration. Luz's outfit is based on the good witch azura with a white and purple colour scheme. Amity wears a pink dress shirt and a dark blue skirt with transparent fabric both on the skirt and acting as the sleeves. Vee wears a yellow dress with white trim on the bottom. Light glyphs float in the air, the dancefloor lights the scene from below, and Hooty extends across the background. End ID]
on today's episode of "pieces I put way too much work into realistically!". Since it's unlikely we'll get a quinceñera for Luz at this stage of the show, I wanted to draw a cute scene of it, which slowly turned into posing and lighting practice
(Small disclaimer: I'm not a part of a culture that does quinceñeras! I hope that there's no glaringly inaccurate details here. As far as I know there isn't hard and fast rules for the dresses or dance floor? so hopefully everything here is plausible. Feel free to let me know if there's any egregious errors here. There's some doodles under the cut that are slightly more detailed, so same goes for those)
Tumblr media
[ID: black and white digital doodles of owl house characters at Luz's quinceñera. The first doodle shows luz, Gus, Hunter and king, and is labeled "Gus, king & hunter = chambelands". The next shows willow, Vee, and Lilith with Luz and is labeled "Lilith, Willow and Vee = damas". There's a doodle of amity where's she's labeled "escort". There's a small full body doodle of Luz in a suit labeled "she gets a costume change!". The last doodle is Luz and hunter dancing together, labeled "Luz + hunter sibling dance". The background is purple. End ID]
#the owl house#toh#luz noceda#EDIT: I FORGOT THE FUCKING TAGS#willow park#amity blight#vee noceda#sigh. i won't tag anyone under the cut#lumity#okay that's good#feel like the id might not be up to scratch? if anyone has any suggestions I'll edit it!#same if the small text proves inaccessible#i know some screen readers pick it up and others don't but that no matter what it's hard for visually impaired people to read#if it proves troublesome i won't do it again#anyway in case you're wondering where eda is (bc realistically she should be here)- i like to think she'd get her own role in the ceremony?#not sure where though because I'm not sure which roles are/can be performed by family vs family friends vs a priest/professional#and thus i don't know what would be fitting for eda#i also know that father/daughter dances are traditional at quinceñeras and I've seen a few suggestions for who luz might dance with#since obviously her father's passed away#while the idea of dell (as her surrogate grampa) or one of her friends dads filling in is sweet#part of me thinks luz would go very non traditional and dance with eda? as a parent figure alternate to her mother?#i don't know if that's like. totally out of whack for a quinceñera/where the line between non-traditional and inaccurate is#since the tradition has obviously evolved a lot over the years and I'm just an outside observer#if anyone has hcs or suggestions feel free to let me know#(tho you'd probably prefer to discuss them with fans who have a bit more knowledge on the subject/are actually latino)#i should do more reading on this I'm just swamped rn (I. should really do some research for art class soon)#uhh i think that's everything i had to add??? yeah m#just reiterating the disclaimer uptop. please tell me if I've been silly or insensitive i do not want to be either

Headcanons: The Owl House
In no particular order:
Luz and Camila took Amity, Hunter, Gus and Willow to Comic Con dressed like characters from Cosmic Frontier. They actually got to meet the creator(s) of Cosmic Frontier, who were very bemused by Gus and Hunter asking a multitude of questions and Gus’ warning about the giraffes. Luz and Amity got to hang out with fans of The Good Witch Azura.
After the Collector installed the new portal door, Jacob Hopkins managed to get out of jail and attempted to sneak into the house. The last anyone heard from Jacob, he was trying to set up an online fundraiser to get home from Mars (when he really was sent to a place called Quinhagak, Alaska.)
Months after Belos fell, Alador and Odalia divorced. Odalia tried to revive their original arms business, but it fell flat. Amity, Edric and Emira never spoke to her again.
Masha learned the truth about Vee and the Demon Realm. In fact, they’re one of the first humans to attend Gus’ Human Student Exchange Program.
Some sketchy ex-Coven Heads (the Potions Head, Terra, & Adrian) and Kikimora attempted to take over the Boiling Isles and replace the vacancy left by Belos. This was quickly thwarted by the B.A.T.T.s C.A.T.T.s and the Hexside squad and a thorough investigation and trial took place. Unsurprisingly, Odalia was also implicated in the plot because of the subpar Abomotons that were used. The plotters and Odalia were banished from the Boiling Isles and sent to Titan Trapper Island to live out their sentence. Kikimora worked out a plea deal and that’s how she was found working with Matt Tholomule to rebuild Bonesborough.
Eda and her dad have a better relationship these days, to Gwendolyn’s delight. Dell and Gwendolyn have also doted on King and Hunter. In fact, Eda was the one who introduced Hunter to Dell after Luz mentioned that Hunter wanted to learn how to carve Palismen.
A delegation was sent to Titan Trapper Island, and Bill is no longer the leader there. Tarak was appointed as the new leader and he promised that he and his people will not to go after the last Titan (King). It also helped that The Collector was included in that delegation to seal the deal and promised to build a portal between the two islands if the Titan Trappers behaved...and changed their way of dressing and the name of their island.
Lilith unlocked her harpy form the same way Eda did: with cookies made by Hooty. However, it wasn’t as “smooth” as Eda’s transformation, but with the help from Eda, Gwendolyn, and Camila, she was able to take control of her transformations. Hooty was also temporarily banned from the kitchen. Right after she managed this, Lilith showed off her transformation in front of Flora.
Luz told Eda what Papa Titan told her, and Eda felt honored. Though Eda was a bit offended about the Titan questioning her homemade apple blood recipe.
The Therapy Coven had never been busy after the fall of Belos. Hunter and Raine in particular spent some time with them because of the shared trauma of possession by Belos.
Hunter elected to stay with Darius, though he's always welcome with the Nocedas back in the Human Realm, with the Parks, the Blights (minus Odalia), Eda, and the senior Clawthornes.
Willow introduced Hunter to her dads after Hunter finished gushing about sewing and wolves with Darius and Eberwolf.
Boscha peaked in high school.
The Bat Queen sensed that there was something about Hunter, and Hunter told her about Flapjack’s sacrifice. After that talk, Hunter also became welcome in The Bat Queen’s forest.
Luz and Amity got more “mundane, slice-of-life dates”, both in the human realm and the demon realm.
The Collector visits King from time to time, and the Hexside squad learned to relax around them and teach them about how to approach people and play other games.
There was an attempt to introduce Camila to the food in the Boiling Isles. Suffice to say, she was only able to eat griffin eggs like Luz, though she found the animals there quite fascinating.
Viney and Jerbo eventually became friends again, to Barkus’ relief. (Barkus knew they would become friends, it was a matter of when.)
Principal Bump officially retired as Principal the following year. That was not the end of his love of education because he spent the next year to reach out to Glandus and St. Epiderm about revising their curriculum and offering multiple magic tracks.

God now I want a long distance Huntlow episode where Hunter is starting his apprenticeship with Dell and the whole time Gwendolyn is like “… I know this young man from somewhere” so your A plot is a Karate Kid-style montage of chores that seem like meaningless labor (peel this corn, chop this wood, draw a straight line, etc.) with Hunter contacting Willow who’s the captain of the Emerald Entrails travel team her senior year at Hexside and the two of them are going through their trials parallel to one another but apart and at the end of the episode they meet back up and hold each other and Gwendolyn goes “I KNOW WHERE I KNOW HIM FROM” and pulls out an old painting of Evelyn and Caleb in the exact same pose or something idk

Stepping Stones: Chapter 10
“Do you ever regret teaching Luz to sew?”
Hunter walks over to join Darius at the window, following his gaze down to where Luz is making her way to the house. Despite being a good distance down the road, she’s clearly visible thanks to her neon green shirt, bearing the words GO EMERALD ENTRAILS in lopsided, brilliantly gold letters.
A grin stretches across Hunter’s face. “Not for a moment,” he replies, and Darius sighs deeply.
Luz knocks at the door a moment later, and Hunter pulls it open for her. She throws her arms around him without preamble.
“Hunter! You’re going to be amazing today, I know it!”
“Thanks.” As she pulls back, he adds, “nice shirt.”
Luz twirls. “I thought you’d like it.”
As she spins, Stringbean rises up from her shoulders, slithering through the air to nuzzle Hunter’s cheek. “She’s been so excited all day,” Luz tells him.
“That makes two of us,” Hunter replies, gathering Stringbean into his arms. Over the last three months of taking her to school, he’s come to really love her. It doesn’t make him miss Flapjack any less, and he knows she’s not really his— he doesn’t innately understand her the way he did with Flap, and she isn’t as attuned to him— but she still curls around his shoulders when he’s nervous and shifts into different animals during class to keep him entertained, and she’s flown like the wind during every practice they’ve had. It makes him happy to know she’ll be with him today.
“Are you nerv—" Luz begins, but quick as lightning, Darius sends a tendril of abomination goo to cover her mouth.
“Ah ah ah! We’ve put a ban on that question in this house.”
Raine smacks Darius’s shoulder, and he reluctantly pulls the abomination back. With an apologetic look at Luz, they explain, “it’s pretty much the only question any of us have been getting all week.”
The school administrations have been in contact with the Isles’ makeshift leadership committee, but clearly not enough, because whoever thought that scheduling the first Flyer Derby game on the same day of the election was a good idea had no idea what they were doing. Hunter has heard Raine say more than once that the house hasn’t felt this tense since it was serving as the headquarters for the rebellion, and on top of that, anyone who comes near it has to ask about it.
“The only thing worse than the waiting,” Hunter tells Luz now, “are the many people asking about how well you’re handling it.”
“Gotcha.” Luz mimes locking her lips and throws away the invisible key. “But for the record,” she adds, “I meant what I said. I really do think you’re going to win today. All of you.”
Eber folds his arms, and since Hunter has been teaching Luz what he’s been learning in Beastkeeping, both of them know what he says.
“Yes, even you, Eber,” Luz replies. “We win when our friends win!”
Eber rolls his eyes. Darius shoves him lightly.
“Speaking of winning,” Hunter says, “we’d better get going.”
Stringbean lifts out of his arms and transforms into a staff, but rather than taking her, Luz lets her fall into Hunter’s hands. Hunter gives her a smile, grateful for any extra practice time he can get, and he takes off with Luz behind him and the others following.
The field at Hexside is already packed when they arrive, but it doesn’t take Hunter long to find the Nocedas in the crowd. They’re seated in the front row, Camila blowing him kisses and Vee waving frantically with one arm, her other hand in Masha’s. Amity sits on Masha’s other side and gives Hunter two thumbs up when she sees him looking at her. In the row behind them, Wynne, Gemini, and Ivy are listening to Eda explain something, and Dell and Gwen are giving him bright smiles and reassuring waves from her other side.
Luz slides off of Stringbean and gives Hunter one last hug. “Good luck!” she says, and races off to sit beside Amity.
Raine kisses Hunter’s head. “You’re going to be great,” they promise.
Eber nods, patting Hunter’s arm and scampering after them. Darius ruffles his hair.
“Make us proud, little prince.”
For a moment, Hunter watches them go, and he feels like he’s already won.
Then he takes a deep breath and makes his way to the side of the field where the rest of the Entrails are waiting, Willow ready with his face paint. She draws the fork of green lightning down the left side of his face with careful fingers, and Hunter prays she can’t feel how his face is heating under her light touch.
She steps back and winks. “Looking good, Hunter.”
Knowing from many unfortunate past experiences not to speak, Hunter gives her a double thumbs-up. Somehow this feels worse.
“All right, team,” Willow says, and they huddle up in a practiced motion at the familiar words.
“I’m sure you’ve heard the rumors about the Saint Epiderm Fire Bees— that they’ve been training since the beginning of the year, that their palismen are some of the fastest recorded in the history of school sports… yeah,” she says to their nods, “you’ve heard it all. But you know what they haven’t heard about us? Viney can make a shield so strong it would stop a wall of actual fire bees. Skara has won a grudgby game and a flyer derby game in the same afternoon. Gus can fly on one foot, with his eyes closed!”
“For a short amount of time,” Gus interjects.
Hunter waves this away. “It still counts.”
“And Hunter can teleport, and make turns so tight he might as well have teleported, and fly so fast that…”
“He might as well be part palisman?” Hunter gives her a tiny, wry smile.
“And,” Willow says, wrapping and arm around him, “he’s always looking out for his team.”
But Hunter can hear the tremor in her voice that she gets when she’s worried she’s said something wrong. The team has been full of nothing but praise for her— but Hunter knows all too well that years of harsh words take years to purge.
He wraps his arm around her waist. “And our captain here, in addition to being an excellent flyer and a summoner of plants I don’t even know the names of, is such an excellent judge of character that she brought together the best flyer derby team the Isles have ever seen!”
The Entrails let out a cheer at this, and Hunter glances at Willow, raising his voice until she gives in and cheers too.
The distant screech of a bell lets them know it’s time to line up, and Hunter steps apart from Willow, trying to ignore the sudden cold that sweeps across his side. He tightens his grip on Stringbean and walks over to his place— only for a movement in the stands to catch his eye. It’s Masha, waving for all they’re worth. When they and Hunter lock eyes, they point at Willow and nod in encouragement.
He could have asked Luz or Amity or Raine or Eda, all of whom have lived through the mortification of having a crush on one of their closest friends, all of whom know about Hunter’s on Willow since he is, in Luz’s words, “as subtle as Hooty trying to rip himself out of the house”. Gus and Willow are the only people he’s ever made any real effort keeping the secret for— Willow, because the idea of ruining their friendship makes him feel like he’s going to throw up, and Gus because he doesn’t want to make him keep a secret from Willow.
But somehow it felt easier to talk to Masha than someone he knows well, to ask them how they took the leap. Their words flash through his mind now as he looks at them.
“I told her because I needed to say it, and I needed her to hear it, not because I needed to hear anything back. She was so scared of herself, and I wanted her to know how deep my feelings went— and I needed to get them out, because at some point, rejection is actually easier than carrying around feelings that big all the time and not knowing what to do with them.”
And he thinks about these flashes of fear Willow still has, how she cares so deeply about other people that she forgets to ask for anything in return. He thinks about all the risks everyone is taking today— Darius and Raine leaving their futures in the hands of a million strangers, five basilisks at a sporting event filled with people who have been raised from birth to be afraid of them, Willow reaching for her dreams with a team no one would expect to pull anything off— and suddenly, he feels like taking a risk too.
He takes his place in like next to Willow but, before getting into position, leans forward and quickly kisses her cheek. She turns to him, eyes wide, and he thinks she might be blushing but he turns away too quickly to tell if that’s anything more than wishful thinking.
“Good luck, Captain,” he mumbles.
Instinctively, he glances up at Masha to find them grinning. Beside them, Amity applauds him, pointing between her and Luz and nodding emphatically. He’s not entirely sure what that means, but clearly she thinks he’s done something right, so he’ll take it.
And maybe she’s onto something, because suddenly Willow’s hand is in his, their fingers threading together as she squeezes.
“You too, Hunter.”
And then the referee blows their whistle, and they’re off.
Two of the Fire Bees streak towards Gus, clearly thinking that he’ll be the slowest. Hunter hurtles towards them, but it’s too late— a third Fire Bee is here now, behind Gus, grabbing his flag, which— disappears. The real Gus appears behind the two Fire Bees in front of his illusion, holding one of their flags in each hand.
“Better luck next time!” he calls with a wink, ducking under them and streaking for the goal. Hunter takes the opportunity to fly for the third Fire Bee while they’re distracted, but they turn just in time, flinging a wad of abomination goo into his eyes. Crying out, he lets go of Stringbean to wipe them— and topples off of her when the Fire Bee knocks into him, trying to get his flag.
Hunter kicks, screaming, and manages to summon a vine from the ground, calling it to curl around him, place him back onto Stringbean, and wipe his eyes.
Someone claps a hand on his shoulder, and he looks up to see Willow speeding past. “Nice work!” she calls.
Hunter glances behind him at the end of Luz’s staff. “They got my flag!” he calls.
Willow’s face turns grim, and she fixes her eyes on the Fire Bee streaking towards their goalpost. They’re so focused on the goal that they don’t notice as she flicks her fingers, sending a tiny vine to lightly flick their flag off of their staff. Hunter teleports beneath it, grabbing it, and makes his body as small and aerodynamic as he can as he flies like mad for the goalpost across the field.
The Fire Bee closest to it turns and lets out a piercing whistle that cuts straight through Hunter’s ears, slamming the breath from his chest as he careens backwards— and then bounces forwards again, back onto Stringbean. He glances behind him to see a shield of blue light fading to reveal Viney beneath it.
“Keep going!” she yells.
The Fire Bee lunges for her, grabbing her flag— at the same time Skara grabs his.
“Viney’s was our last one!” she cries. “We have to beat him to the goal!”
Hunter puts on a burst of speed without looking back, his heart beating double time in his chest, every one of his muscles clenched so hard they ache. Come on, come on, come on, the thinks, clutching the flag in a clammy hand.
He reaches the goal and slings the flag onto one of the posts, turning back to Skara with a grin— only to see a vine reaching for her from behind. Without thinking, he teleports between it and her, gasping as it wraps around his waist and Skara slams the last flag onto its post.
“And we have a winner!” the referee calls. “The Emerald Entrails take the day!”
Hunter opens his mouth to cheer— but his breath comes out in a sharp exhale instead as the vine tightens around his waist, yanking him off Stringbean. For the second day, he finds himself hurtling to the ground— only this time, it bursts into flowers, and he lets himself fall.
He brushes his hair out of his eyes and looks up to see Willow lowering her hands and racing towards him. Her arms are open, and Hunter instinctively raises his, intending to catch her in a hug. So he’s completely unprepared when she plants her lips on his.
Hunter kisses her back, wrapping his arms around her, and when they break apart, tears are streaking his cheeks. Willow lets go of him quickly, alarm crossing her face.
“Oh, I’m so sorry— I should have asked, I just thought—“
“No, no— Willow! You’re fine.” He wipes his eyes and beams at her. “I’m just happy.”
Willow’s expression eases into a wide smile, and she kisses the last of his tears away.
“Finally!”
Hunter looks over Willow’s shoulder to see Viney and Skara clutching each other’s hands and grinning, while Gus throws his arms up in exasperation.
“You knew?” Hunter asks.
“Obviously. And frankly, I’m kind of offended neither of you ever told me.”
“I didn’t want to put you in a difficult position,” Hunter and Willow say simultaneously, then laugh.
“What was difficult was watching you two pine after each other,” Skara says, rolling her eyes. “At least that’s over.”
“And more importantly, we won!” Viney shrieks, running for the bed of flowers and pulling Skara with her— and then all of the Entrails are together, tangled in one knot, cheering so loudly Hunter thinks they could be heard from anywhere on the Isles.
The victory party at the old CATTs headquarters starts off buoyant and happy. Hunter walks in holding Willow’s hand and feeling like he’s still flying, his cheeks aching from smiling. People keep clapping him on the shoulder or ruffling his hair and congratulating him— on his win or his incredible girlfriend, he can’t tell. Raine breaks out the waffle maker and makes an enormous batch of them for dinner, and people sit on the floor in little groups to eat, the room filling with overlapping conversations and laughter.
But then the evening wears on, and the laughter fades, the conversations becoming hushed. The Nocedas are the only ones who can stand to keep vigil by the crystal ball and watch the votes be tallied, all of them holding each other’s hands and sitting with tense, perfect posture. Everyone else in the room ignores the coverage completely, all finding something to distract themselves with instead. Masha paints Raine’s nails; Eda teaches Rhee how to play her mandolin; Lilith and Amity organize every book in the house alphabetically by genre; Steve and King board Steve's motorcycle and drive around as Gwen and Dell watch with mild fascination; Willow and Gemini play Hexas Hold ‘Em against Gus and Hooty; Wynne and Ivy go from group to group collecting dishes; Eberwolf shows Viney how he takes his beast form; Alador and Darius tinker with some kind of abomination. Hunter just wanders from group to group, watching one for a bit before drifting away.
When he gets to Darius and Alador, he wonders if he’ll have to break up a fight. They’ve been civil lately, but he wouldn’t put it past them to revert to the incessant bickering that was their normal right after Belos’s death under the stress of the situation.
“You’re going to win,” he hears Alador say with quiet conviction as he approaches. He raises his eyebrows, pleasantly surprised.
“If only I was capable of sharing your delusional optimism,” Darius responds dryly.
“No, I’m serious. You have to. I want to end my marriage to Odalia as soon as someone has the power to do it, and you’re the only person I can trust to do it fast enough.”
Darius looks up from their abomination so quickly Hunter’s neck throbs in sympathy. “You and Odalia are… over?”
Alador snorts. “We should have been over a long time ago. I… being with her was… the wrong choice.”
Darius’s expression softens into something Hunter’s never seen on him before, and he realizes it’s definitely time to stop watching this. He turns around— just in time to catch Luz’s eye as she stands.
“The results are in,” she says, her voice about three octaves higher than usual.
Everyone abandons the pretense of normalcy at once, scrambling to face the crystal ball. Hunter wraps one arm around Luz and feels Willow brush up against his other side, sliding her hand into his.
Being old enough to join a coven, Hunter was also deemed old enough to vote, so he knows how the process worked. All of the candidates were listed on a form, and he was told to fill out the circle next to the five he wanted to rule the Isles. The five candidates with the most votes will be chosen to serve as councilors for the next five years.
“And our first councilor,” Perry Porter says, his voice conveying all the tension currently choking everyone in the room, “is… Alexis Calian!”
Alador nods approvingly. “They quit Blight Industries a few years ago. Good person.”
“Our second councilor is… Arthur Hanover!”
Lilith snorts. “How did he get elected? She has no opinions on anything!”
“That’s probably why people like him,” Luz points out. “They can project.”
“Our third councilor is… Hettie Cutburn!”
No one can speak for a few seconds. When a voice finally cuts through the horror, it’s Masha, but even they know to whisper.
“Who’s that?”
“She was the head of the Healing Coven,” Raine replies, their voice tight.
“At least it’s not Terra?” Eda offers.
“Yet,” Raine mutters.
Darius pinches his nose. “Well, putting the former Coven Heads on trial just became a nightmare.”
“Maybe we can impeach her?” Luz offers.
“What does that mean?”
Luz’s eyes widen. Just a fraction. Then she waves her hand. “We’ll talk later.”
“Our fourth councilor is… Darius Daemonne!”
The horrified silence is shattered by a wave of outright screams. Raine is jumping up and down, Eber is running circles around the room, and Hunter lets go of Luz and Willow to throw his arms around Darius before he can question the impulse. When he pulls back, though Darius is smiling wider than Hunter’s ever seen.
“All right, all right, settle down,” he calls. “We’ve still got one councilor left.”
But as soon as the word Raine passes Perry’s mouth, settle down becomes a foreign concept. If Hunter thought all the Isles could hear the cheers after the Entrails won, well, he’s sure even the Human realm could hear the noise that erupts. Eda dips Raine into a kiss as Lilith lets out a piercing whistle, Luz and Vee and Masha grab each other's hands and jump up and down, and everyone else is hugging and dancing and screaming themselves hoarse. Hunter picks Willow up by the waist and twirls her around, laughing and laughing, and even though he knows there is more work to do and more games to play, when she leans down to kiss him, he can't stop himself from thinking that things are finally falling into place.

Owl House Finale Headcanons
According to Dana in the Post-Hoot, our headcanons can basically be canon at this point because she's not in charge of the story anymore. Okay, challenge accepted!
First of all, the boiling isles is now a democracy. Led by several powerful witches, but they have to be voted in. So Raine would be partly in charge, probably Darius and Eberwolf, maybe Mason, Hettie, Osran, etc, but definitely not the jerks Adrian and Terra.
Second, although Dana said Hunter and Eda don't know about the Caleb, Evelyn and Clawthorne connection, that doesn't sit right with me. So like my fanfic dictates, eventually they might make a deduction, but not a sure conclusion that Hunter is related to the Clawthornes. Even if they don't for sure recognize the fact, they will eventually come to see Hunter as family and he will have Clawthorne as one of his last names (Until he marries Willow).
Third, Alador instantly starts his work on sigil removal gloves. Several people didn't seem to have one in the epilogue, but it seemed like they were celebrating that kid getting his removed. Alador must have gone through many versions of the unbranding glove, and this one wasn't the one to blow up or something...?
Lastly, some Hexside Head-canons!
lots of more students start taking mixed tracks nearly immediately. I mean, we saw it in the epilogue, but I think as one of the final "screw you"s to Belos, lots of students just start practicing other magics.
The Hexsquad are some of the most popular students at the school, for saving the Boiling Isles and everything.
Gus becomes the reinstated president of the Human Appreciation Society. He has a lot more knowledge to share with the group. Many people in the group keep asking to go the human realm, now that they have a working portal. Before they can even think of going however, Gus grills them with pop quizzes and disguise tutorials to help them fit in with the Human Realm and not stand out too much.
Hunter enrolls into Hexside. Like Luz, he doesn't have a normal way of casting magic (seeing as he has a palisman magic implant), so like Luz he takes a bit of everything. He struggles with some offensive magic, (construction, elemental, etc) but he excels at teleportation. He doesn't cast spell circles that much like Luz. Meanwhile, Luz is happy to have someone in the study course as her.
After some time at the Owl House, Eda realizes Hunter has a dream of carving Palismen. She tells her Dad, and thus he shows him the ropes. He becomes an apprentice to Dell.
Hunter takes some time to carve his own Palisman. He most likely waits until after he's nearly completed his first year of Hexside. After carving Waffles, he no longer struggles, and he's twice as powerful as when he had Flapjack (cause twice the palisman magic, ehhh).
Hunter and Willow become an item a few months after defeating Belos.
For Hunter's last and only two years of Hexside, Willow and Him become Grom King and Queen. Willow's biggest fear is him dying and her being unable to save him. Hunter's biggest fear is Belos returning and attacking everyone he cares about. Hunter and Willow have their own version of the Lumity Grom dance. The last Grom Hunter goes to is where Hunter and Willow share their first lip kiss. (If you haven't noticed, I believe their relationship will be taken slowly.)
Hunter graduates with Honours from Hexside, and takes a full time apprenticeship with Dell instead of going to University. Hunter already knows what he wants to do and this is the best way to achieve it.
Amity also opts out from University after graduating, instead taking a real apprenticeship with Lillith.
Willow also opts out of University, instead pursuing professional Flyer Derby playing.
Gus graduates early, also with honors, and becomes a TA at the University for Wild Magic. He starts an exchange program with the Human Realm and teaches side courses about the Human Realm and it's historical connection with the Demon Realm.
Other Headcanons.
Not that Gus couldn't be Bisexual, but honestly I thought him Matt wouldn't be a thing. I think blushes equal crushes, and Matt and Gus don't blush around each other. Heck, Matt has shown interest in Celine and the little sister "Roka," and Gus has been blushy around Bria, but not Matt.
As for the couples, I'm not sure if Raeda is married in the epilogue or if they eventually get married. They might just be content with living with each other romantically.
Lumity will wait until Luz is finished University until they get married.
Huntlow will probably wait for the marriage until Hunter is near mid 20's.
Lumity and Huntlow will start having kids around the same time.

The Cancelled S3 Storylines?
Apparently the writers finished writing 2A in summer 2020, and the choice to cut TOH was announced to the crew after Agony of a Witch aired (that I remember for sure from Dana herself). So everything up until 2B was probably the original plan, which fits with how the very first episode of 2B establishes the ending in sight, via the sudden reveal of the narrow deadline ahead; Our first indication of when the Day of Unity is approaching, besides the cryptic ‘soon’ from Agony of a Witch.
This of course means that out of TOH as a whole, Season 2A was probably the closest and most true to Dana’s original vision; Season 1 was great, but as Dana herself explained, it wasn’t until Understanding Willow, halfway through Season 1B, that she felt TOH had finally begun to match that intended vision of hers. And we know there was executive meddling to give Hexside more of a role, even if the writers made it work surprisingly well. And it goes without saying that 2B and beyond was made in response to the show having to end earlier than planned...
Still, this makes me wonder about the originals plans for TOH, particularly Season 3; I don’t think it would’ve been about the Day of Unity’s aftermath, but rather the DOU would’ve happened at the end of S3. We know we would’ve had arcs including;
-The origins of the Owl House
-Hooty’s backstory
-Luz’s quincenera (still possible)
-Steve and Mattholomule’s relationship
We can also guess that we would’ve gotten more development on Alador’s redemption, as well as an arc involving the Looking Glass Graveyard being defended; Gus and Mattholomule are tasked as protectors, Steve implicitly chose to protect the graveyard by giving the map to his little brother (which that arc could’ve explored as part of the aforementioned relationship), as well as Adrian’s desire for the Galdorstones (more on that later this post). Episodes for the other coven heads is a given, and there’s also the beach episode that might just be a joke, but who knows?
Tumblr media
I think there’s a good chance that the episode involving the Owl House’s origins would’ve also delved into Hooty’s backstory (as well as the nature of house demons, which live thousands of years according to Amity and go insane from that), since Dana cited both together as examples of canned arcs; And given Hooty’s association with the Owl House, it makes sense that its history would be an important chapter of his life! He was apparently once a kitten...? And Dell alluded to the tower the Owl House was built from being his own.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this episode would’ve given us lore on the Clawthorne lineage, maybe gone into depth on the Owl mural on the ceiling as some type of family crest; If not outright exploring Wittebro’s connection to the Clawthornes, too! Which could then be an episode that involves Hunter bonding with the blood relatives he was estranged from, as both realize the hidden connection that went back centuries ago...
Tumblr media
Also, I can see Mason, head of the Construction Coven, being involved; Because if we’re talking about the construction of houses and house demons, that just seems topical. Mason and his coven were introduced as early as Covention via a house being built within seconds, so maybe Mason would’ve played an antagonistic role, provided insight on house demons with perhaps one of his own as an ally, make commentary on the Owl House’s architecture, etc. Maybe Dell’s tower had something to do with him, maybe not.
Tumblr media
And then as I mentioned before; Gus and Mattholomule would have to defend the Looking Glass Graveyard from Adrian, who’s gearing up for a rematch and might have a hidden true form. Since we know Steve gave the map to Mattholomule and yet the Emperor’s Coven didn’t find the ruins... The implication is that Steve was already rebelling in small ways and thus lowkey chose to protect the graveyard, even without the Keeper’s blessing. So we could’ve seen Mattholomule show potential distrust with Steve, only for his older brother to clarify their shared goals; And have the episode explore their relationship as a motive for Steve’s rebellion, choosing to give the map to Mattholomule, etc.
And given the theory that Mason is at least one of their dads, perhaps this episode would’ve been his debut; Assuming he can’t appear multiple times of course. It’d also be an interesting bookends to the Looking Glass storyline; It begins with Gus and Mattholomule defending the graveyard from a low-level Construction student, and ends with them facing off against THE head of the Construction Coven itself! Which given its association with physical strength via Bria’s leadership and the power glyphs, seems to be the physically strongest of the covens; A perfect foil to go up against the ‘weak’ Illusions that lack substance.
Gus and Mattholomule could be paralleled via a teamup of Adrian and Mason as well; Illusions combined with Construction, both more than the sum of their own parts! Gus and Matt would definitely notice and appreciate the benefits of mixing magic together, though I’m not so sure about Adrian and Mason. I could see Adrian, since he already DOES recognize and employ illusions with tangible actors, but we don’t know enough about Mason to say. Maybe their dynamic is a bully shoving the nerd into a locker, for lack of a better description.
Tumblr media
That again leaves episodes further fleshing out Alador’s redemption against Odalia; The quincenera; The beach episode; And episodes for the remaining coven heads (Healing, Potions, Oracle). We possibly would’ve seen an arc of Odalia finding a new partner, and still might; It’d probably be an antagonistic Abomination witch, so maybe Hermonculus? He and Odalia are both people Willow would have a grudge on, who personally targeted and tormented her over weak magic, as did Boscha; Willow’s trauma boils down to these three, so Boscha may as well be involved for those thematic reasons... Or maybe Odalia’s partner is the Oracle Head, as his revealed backup.
I’ve also speculated on Hunter having additional one-on-one adventures with other cast members, such King, Eda, and Lilith too; Perhaps the beach episode would’ve had Hunter and King hang out together due to their unique resistance to the boiling water, opening a conversation about their strange identities and similar trauma? Eda and Lilith could be their own episodes, such as Lilith and Hunter recognizing how the system pits people against one another and reconciling to unite against their true foe.
Lilith and/or Eda’s episode could’ve involved the Clawthorne lineage explored via the Owl House’s origins, as I mentioned earlier; Which could connect to the ruins where Eda found the Portal, and the idea of a previous Clawthorne homestead. I also like to think Emira would’ve had a dedicated B-plot with herself as the focus, to pair off with Edric; Probably a hypothetical, additional episode to flesh out Alador’s arc.
Tumblr media
Since Reaching Out addressed Edric’s fear of loneliness and being a screw up by having him make new friends he can show his skills towards, perhaps we would’ve seen Emira explore the burden of taking care of her siblings and wanting to be free for a bit; Not stuck with them forever, left behind as support. Maybe Emira wanting to go off on her own for a bit, only to feel lonely and estranged from her two siblings, could parallel the A-plot; Since it’s likely we would’ve seen more backstory elaborating on Darius’ history with Alador and Odalia, him and Emira could’ve had parallels. And it’d be yet another example of the young generation overcoming the mistakes of the old.
I could also see there being an episode involving the Swampy Toes of the isles, since Gwen alluded to them, as did Lilith in her letter to Hooty during the 2022 charity stream. Swamps kinda give me potion vibes, so wishful thinking but maybe this would’ve had the Potions Head looking for ingredients and introduced them properly. Kikimora would’ve definitely had more exploration, probably involving her family and home in the desert of Palm Stings; We might’ve explored hand demons more, and the Oracle Head by extension as another one of them, a potential idol/rival to Kiki.
Tumblr media
Gwen also mentioned the snowy rib cage, which shots of the isles show snow covering the Titan’s ribs; And we might’ve seen the coven headquarters paid for by pixie dust taxes, alluded to in Wing it like Witches. Perhaps they’re the structure located at the Titan’s crotch that we’ve seen since Season 1... For a while we speculated back in S1 that this city was Bonesborough, so maybe we’d finally get to see it. Then there’s likely more lore on the Bat Queen’s origins, but that might still happen, as well as the Trapper who killed the Boiling Isles; Also still a possibility.
Finally, I bet we would’ve had a lot of Luz focus in Season 3; That it would’ve been her season, with the codes alluding to her. This fits with Season 1 thematically being Eda’s and the code talking of her, and the same applying to Season 2 for King. They’re the main trifecta, so a trio of seasons dedicated to each of them, with it all ending with Luz, would be thematic! Again I speculated on more insight to her life back on earth, her trauma; And possible discussion of Luz being an unreliable narrator and how her RSD distorts her perception of events. Not to mention more Vee screentime and relevance!
