Will was what you could call the jealous type. Just a smidge. And by a smidge, it was a lot. He couldn’t help it. Whenever he saw someone making goo-goo eyes at you he felt his heart race in his chest and something take over before he butted in and swooped you away.
He didn’t make a habit of it. It wasn’t like he didn’t trust you, no it was other guys he didn’t trust. Especially not the guy sitting at the bar that was making clear sex eyes at you even though he was sitting right there.
You paid no attention to it, knowing that what you were wearing was hot and that if it got Will turned on then it was sure to pull other people’s heads, men and women alike. “Will, eyes are over here baby,” You coo softly, a light laugh.
Usually you’d be saying that if his eyes were lingering on the cleavage of your shirt or dress, not when he was shooting daggers across the room at some guy that hadn’t even spoken a word to either of you. “C’mon, why are you so worked up?”
His eyes trailed up your hand as you put it over his, following up your bare arm until his eyes found your face. “Because, he won’t stop staring at you like he wants to eat you.” He didn’t hide the annoyance in his voice, the squeeze of his hand the only thing keeping him from going up to the guy and giving him his two cents.
With a sigh you lean forward, looking up at him, “Yeah well he doesn’t get the opportunity to do that now does he?” You raised an eyebrow at him, nodding your head to the exit. You guys had already paid for everything, just nursing the end of the last couple drinks that you’d ordered.
Through clenched teeth he sighed, “No he does not,” In seconds he was out of his seat, his hand tightly in yours as he pulled you out of the restaurant. His lips were on yours by the time you hit the side of the car, moving together the way they always did.
“Wait til we get back to your place,” You gently pushed him back, his eyes falling down over you as he pressed one last kiss to your jaw before rounding the car and getting in the passenger seat.
Will tried his hardest to keep his hands to himself during the drive, putting his hand possessively onto your thigh and keeping it there. The urge to move it higher was strong but he didn’t want to start something that he couldn’t finish until the two of you were upstairs.
The second you heard the door lock you tossed your shoes and bag to the side, just in time for Will to grab your waist and lift you up. Your back pinned to the wall as he pressed into a steamy kiss. He couldn’t help it.
Everything that kept him sane and cool had gone out the window and pure primal instinct took over as he sucked hickies onto any spot he could get his mouth on. “You…” He trailed off, sliding a hand along your thigh, pushing the dress you were wearing up. “Are mine.”
He held onto your hips as he pressed his hips into yours, groaning against your skin. “All mine.” Will’s words faded into the back of your mind as he rolled his hips against yours again, the slight friction only making your legs tighten around him.
“Will please-“ You breathed out, head loling back as his hot kisses crossed your throat, his nose trailing up as he pulled back to look at you.
There was pure lust in his eyes, he couldn’t even see anything through it. He was straining against his pants, hearing your soft gasps sending all of the blood going south, the friction helping immensely.
You put a hand on his cheek, kissing him roughly, “I’m yours. All yours.” At your words he pulled away from the wall, pulling you to the couch, in too much of a hurry to carry this on down the hall.
As soon as your back hit the fabric of the couch, Will was stepping back, his jeans and boxers coming off in one fell sweep as he leaned over you, letting you have the opportunity to pull his shirt off of him.
Once it was off you leaned forward, kissing his chest, before sliding down lower, hands sliding over his hips. “You’re the only one I want.” You mumble, looking up at him through your lashes, his breath hitching the second your hand wraps around him.
You’d sucked him off before but now it felt so, so personal. Like you had something to prove but not to him but for him. That you loved him more than anyone you’d ever known.
One long lick up his length sent chills down his spine, his body instinctively twitching forward. “God…” He breathed out, his eyes falling on you as you gave soft little kitten licks to the tip, smearing the precum around with your spit.
It didn’t take much for him to come undone, the warmth of your mouth as you slowly took him on had him mewling, his hand instantly sliding into your hair, grasping tightly. “You feel so good baby..” He let out a low moan, doing everything in his power to keep himself from fucking into your mouth.
Slowly you slid down to the hilt, your tongue circling as you pulled back up, lowering back down repeatedly. He tugged at your hair, knees almost buckling as you held onto his thighs for balance and leverage as you bobbed your head faster, craving to bring him just to the edge.
“Fuck, you keep going like that I’m gonna cum right now,” He clenched his jaw, feeling himself pulling closer and closer.
You pulled off, looking up at him, “Uh-uh, I want you in me when you do that,” You said low, your voice like honey as he reached down, pulling the panties off of you easily, your dress still sitting up at your hips
No matter how many times he saw you, Will still looked at you with big love filled eyes, even when he was seconds away from fucking your brains out.
“I swear you’re like an angel,” He muttered, leaning his knees against the couch as he lined himself up with you, reaching to grab your hand. “You ready?”
As soon as you nodded he pushed in, feeling you squeeze his hand as your legs parted more and more the farther in he got. As soon as he bottomed out he let go of your hand, bringing his to the side of your face. “Look at you all pretty and laid out for me.” He leaned forward, kissing you before rolling his hips up, smirking at the moan that slipped your mouth.
You reached to try and cover your mouth but Will instantly reached up, shaking his head, “No, I want to hear every little sound my girl makes.” He practically demanded, rocking his hips faster, pulling another moan from you.
“Will-“ His name fell off your tongue easier than anything you’ve ever said before. Your hands went to his shoulders, grasping on tightly, sure enough leaving imprints of your nails in his skin. “God you feel amazing,” Your head leaned back, trying to press any closer to him.
He gripped at your hips, tight enough there would be bruises in the morning, as he fucked into you faster, the moans and whimpers pushing him as far as he wanted. “You’re so beautiful.” His lips attached to your neck as you tried to hold him a scream.
With each movement he was pushing you closer and closer, the inevitable orgasm building up in your stomach, “Shit Will, I’m gonna-“ He shook his head slightly, his movements slowing down.
“Only when I let you.”
Your eyes met his as he pulled a hand, his thumb just ghosting over your clit, the feeling almost enough to send you over the edge.
As your hips bucked you looked up at him, “Will please, I need you,” You begged, holding the eye contact as he circled around you, in time with each movement.
He raised an eyebrow, setting you up to fail as he relentlessly attacked your clit, watching you squirm, bite your lip. Your cheek. Everything to keep your pleasure to yourself. But you couldn’t.
Your mind went black as you clenched so tightly around him, you were surprised he didn’t follow right away but instead his thrust picked up, fucking you through it.
The room spun as he continued to touch you, watching your eyes roll back, your back lift, thighs fighting to not press together.
“Will, please-“
“Oh I’m sorry, is this not what you wanted? To cum so bad?” He looked down at you, not stopping as you left scratches down his back.
He shifted the two of you, his hand going back to rub your swollen clit once you were situated , his dick further inside of you, the change of angle and pace giving nothing but another wave of pleasure to your body.
Your eyes screwed shut, not minding at all that he was using you the way he wanted, only caring that he was pushing your legs so far apart that you knew you’d be sore in the morning.
It only took a couple minutes before the familiar feeling built up in your body as strings of his name fell off your lips. “Go ahead baby, you’re doing so good. My girl taking me so well,” He leaned down, cooing into your ear.
The shiver of his breath went right to the spot between your legs, sending you right over the edge a second time, Will kissing at your neck as he gripped the back of the couch.
He was close himself, the feeling of you around him, the wetness and the sound of your mewls and moans bringing him closer and closer. He pulled back to look down at you, fucking you through your second orgasm as he felt himself getting sloppy.
You looked up at him, letting out a light breath, “Please cum in me,” You asked softly, those four words tying the knot that sent him overboard. with one final thrust he collapsed forward, a loud string of swears slipping from his mouth as he released inside of you.
His hips bucked against yours a couple more times, earning a whine from him before he pulled out, leaning down to kiss you. “I love you.” He said so firmly, with such passion that your heart felt like it grew a thousand times.
“I love you too,” You said back, leaning the rest of the way into the kiss. He grabbed each side of your face, both of your chests heaving and slick with sweat as he reached back to undo the back of your dress.
A light smirk on his face he looked up at you, “I have one last idea if you’re down for it my love,” He cooed, his hands dancing along your back.
Even with the lack of breath you nodded, still craving his touch. “Please,” You muttered, Will instantly leaning to pull the dress clean off of you, lifting it over your head.
“Alright, you remember what to do if it’s too much yeah?” He pressed a firm kiss to the front of your throat, leaving a mark before dipping lower across your collarbone.
Faintly you nodded, breathing out a sigh, “Tap your shoulder twice.” You answered, feeling his hand slide up your thigh. A million and one thoughts were running through your mind, every single one being replaced as Will pressed a finger into you.
A sharp gasp left your lips, back arching into his lips as your hips twitched towards him, still sensitive as he twisted his finger inside of you. “Good girl,” He hummed, sucking clear marks down your chest until his face was aligned with his hand.
His breath hit your skin, him looking up at you as he left more kisses on your inner thigh, inching closer to your pussy. “God Will…” You whined out.
The sound of his name once again leaving your lips had him sliding a second finger in, pumping in and out strategically. Of course he knew how to use his hands, he was a doctor. Past plastic surgeon. He could lead you to another orgasm with his eyes closed.
Will’s tongue swiped along your clit, circling it slowly as he watched you fall apart under his touch. Your hips twitched up, his other hand coming up to push them down, holding you against the cushions as he replaced his fingers with his mouth, devouring every single bit of you.
The mixture of you and him inside you was heaven, his mouth moving quickly. He put your legs over his shoulders, looping his arm around them, using his first two fingers to rub against your clit as his tongue worked across you.
“Fuck, fucking-“ You practically screamed out, your hands falling into his hair, holding tightly. “Will-“ No other words came to mind as you were filled with his touch.
It didn’t take long for your legs to shake, heels crossing. As your third orgasm ripped through you as you wet his face, trying not to grind down on his tongue, his nose bumping your sweet spot as he looked up at you, not stopping until you told him to.
If he could stay between your legs for the rest of his life he would, it was probably his favorite part of the night. Tasting you, being able to bring you into the trembling state with just his tongue.
It was blissful. As he worked you over, openly ready to build you up for a forth time you reached out, tapping his shoulder as your heart hammered in your chest.
He was off of you in seconds, instead leaning up to put a hand on your cheek, “Are you okay?” He asked softly, looking down at your flushed and fucked out face.
Slowly you nodded, “Mhm, jus’ need a minute,” You breathed out, your legs and hips sore. Will stroked a thumb across your cheek before shifting onto the couch.
“How about we call it a night? Come here,” He lightly grabbed your hand, guiding you over to him to lay against his chest. “Rest a little and we can get up to take a shower in a couple minutes,” His hand raked through your hair comfortingly, his eyes never leaving you.
You smiled and nodded, “Okay,” You slightly lifted to look at him, “I love you.”
“I love you, too.”

It was like Will could sense when you’d had a bad day at work. That he had some sort of alarm go off in his head anytime you so much as felt a hint of stress or frustration. It’s what you loved about him. How caring he was. How he always went above and beyond to make sure your day ended better than how it had gone.
Maybe it was the doctor in him, you didn't know. All you knew was that you had struck gold in terms of the perfect guy and for as long as you both lived, you would never even think of anybody else but him.
You always looked forward to going home, more so now that you had someone waiting for you. Someone who loved you and would do anything to make sure you never forgot that. Some days Will wasn’t there because he was on shift, but even on those days he made sure to leave you a little something special to come home to. Something he knew would make you smile when he couldn’t himself.
However you knew he’d be home today. Waiting eagerly to make you feel better after your God awful day at work, one you were wanting to put behind you as quickly as possible.
The whole way up to your shared apartment you were twitching with excitement, trying your hardest to think of what it might be this time. What little thing he’d prepared for you or which item he bought that might make you smile and the second you unlocked the front door you simply dumped your bag on the floor and beelined for the living room.
Will was sitting on the couch, his back to you and the moment he sensed your presence he jumped. Literally. He was on his feet faster than you could blink, looking all embarrassed as he’d lost track of time and hadn’t finished preparing his surprise for you.
“You’re early.” He babbled out, scratching at the back of his head as you furrowed your brow a little, slowly making your way towards him.
“No I’m not.” You replied, rolling your lips a little as you couldn’t help but smile over his minor fluster. You folded your arms, taking another step forwards to feel your legs press against the back of the couch as you craned your neck to try and see what he was hiding behind his back. “Whatcha got there?”
“Nothing.” Will said casually, leaning his body parallel to yours to stop you from peeking, making you huff a little and pout dramatically. “It’s not ready yet.”
“Oh come on, just let me see.” You whined childishly, pouting again as you clasped your hands under your chin and batted your eyelashes at him. He never could say no when you gave him your best puppy dog eyes, something you abused greatly, and you could tell he was about to break. “Please?”
Sighing, Will ran his hand through his hair, mumbling a faint ‘fine’ which in turn enticed a quiet ‘yay’ to escape your lips in a way that made him smile, his heartwarming over just how downright adorable you got in these moments. He stepped aside, offering you a full view of the bouquet of flowers he had been trying to put together, most of which were still scattered across the coffee table and hadn’t made it into the vase yet.
“You got me flowers?” You said softly, your heart all but bursting in your chest as you rounded the couch, eyes never once leaving the colourful array covering the table.
“I was trying to make you one of those mixed bouquet things.” Will replied, gesturing to the mess behind him. “But it turns out that flower arranging is a lot harder than it looks.”
“Oh, Will.” You breathed out, feeling the slight warmth begin to form in your eyes as you subtly wiped at them.
You didn’t care if they were only flowers. Didn’t care that he’d bought you them plenty of times before. It was more the fact that he’d been trying to put together his own bouquet for you, that really got to you. He didn’t have to do that. He could have gotten a florist to do it, picked a premade one or even grabbed a small bunch from a stand on his way home from work.
But he hadn’t.
Instead he’d gone to all this trouble to, not only gather up all your favourite flowers in your favourite colours, you might add, but he’d spent what seemed to be hours trying to arrange them for you himself. And if that wasn’t love, then you didn't know what was.
“Baby?” Will stepped forward, taking your hand in his and drawing your teary attention away from the mess of flowers. He pulled you gently towards him, his free hand cupping the side of your face the second you were close enough. “Are you okay?”
“I’m perfect.” You whispered, voice a little shaky as you leaned into his touch. You turned your head a little, placing a soft kiss against the palm of his hand. “You’re perfect.”
“I take it you’re happy with the flowers?” He asked, a quiet chuckle escaping his lips as he brought you into his arms, allowing you to rest your head on his chest and feel the rhythmic beat of his heart beneath it.
“I’m more than happy.” You sighed contently, and honestly the flowers went forgotten the minute he encapsulated you in his warmth, feeling the touch of his lips atop your head as he kissed you.
You may have loved all the little things he did for you, but pretty much all of the time it was simply Will himself that was capable of making your day one hundred times better than you ever could have asked for.

Impulsive Decisions
Tumblr media
The fire raged on with a ferocity that seemed to devour everything that was in its path. Amidst the chaos, YN Voight stood on the opposite side of the street, her pounding against her chest as the sound of everyone’s cries filled the air. But there was one cry in particular that caught her undivided attention. The wails of a small child out of a second story window were the only one the young woman could focus on during all the commotion around her, fueling her determination as she watched the firemen around her scramble.
Without a moment of hesitation, YNN dashed into the blazes of the inferno, ignoring the calls of her to stop what she was doing and having her senses overwhelmed from the heat and smoke that now surrounded her. The intensity of her surroundings fueled her focus as she navigated the burning structure, each step being coordinated and careful maneuver.  The child’s cries guided YN’s way through the billowing smoke and constant falling debris.
With adrenaline as her only ally through the blazing heat and flames, she found the little boy, trapped in the far corner of his family’s apartment. Fear was etched across his tear-stained face. The Voight girl scooped up the small child, shielding his fragile frame from the danger that surrounded the two of them. As they made their way back out of the fiery blaze, YN passed a few other people that hadn’t quite yet found their way out of the building and continued to guide them out.
When they all finally emerged from the roaring inferno, her heart raced as she cradled the child protectively in her arms close to her chest. Will Halstead, seasoned doctor at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center as well as her boyfriend, and her father, Sergeant Hank Voight, dashed forward with evident concern etched upon their faces.
“My god, YNN!” Will voice cut through the chaos that surrounded them all. His eyes instantly began scanning over her body as well as the small boy’s for any injury that could have come to them as they braved the blazes. Relief flooded his expression as he found the two relatively unscathed.
Hank’s voice bellowed soon after, his authoritative tone laced with worry and anger towards his daughter. “What the hell were you thinking, YN?” He questioned her as Dr. Halstead took the child from her arms to return him to his parents who awaited off to the side. “Running into a fire like that? That was a careless and stupid move on your part?”
“I didn’t do anything that you wouldn’t have done yourself.” The YHC girl said as she looked into her father’s eyes and tried to catch her breath from the adrenaline high she was coming down from.
“Excuse me, Serge, if I may,” Will said as he stepped back up to the two of them, his voice firm but calm. “If it wasn’t for your daughter’s bravery all those people would have burned up in the flames. She saved them. YNN, saved a lot of people today. People who were trapped in their own homes and couldn’t find a way out. It takes a lot of courage to do what she just did. She only did what her father has taught her.”
The gravity of his words hung heavy in the air between the three of them, testament of his girlfriend’s strong will to be an ally to those less fortunate than her. Hank’s expression soften as he looked around them at the dozens of people his daughter helped, including and especially the little boy she came out carrying.
He looked back at YN with with gentle eyes, now that he had thought about everything that had transpired within the last half hour. “Get her checked out, will you?” He asked the Halstead man, in a slight grumble. “With how long you were in the building, the amount of smoke you inhaled isn’t good for anyone.”
As YNN sat in the ambulance, she couldn’t help but feel a storm of emotions swirling within her. Will stood by her side in a silent form of support, his presence a reassurance in the midst of everything going on. She knew her impulsive actions worried not only her father but him as well, but her sole focus had been on saving the boy.
“Thank you,” she said pulling the oxygen mask away from her face slightly. “Not only from saving me from Daddy’s lecture, but for just being here.”
Will smiled and reached out, taking her hand in his. “Babygirl, no matter what you do, I’ll support you. It’s just unfortunate that when dating a Voight, her dangerous and impulsive decisions come with the territory.” He stated with a small chuckle which in turn made the yea eyed girl let out a giggle of her own as she placed the mask back in its spot.

Halstead Headcanons Pt. 5
A/N: I wanted to write a Halstead Thanksgiving imagine and I also had a headcanon where Halstead sister chokes sitting in my drafts. Since they're both pretty short, I decided to combine them into another installment of Halstead Headcanons.
Enjoy!
Thanksgiving:
You anxiously looked at the forecast for the third time this hour. But, at this point, you knew it was no use. It was currently Monday morning and a snowstorm had hit Chicago late last night. Seeing as your 9 am Monday class was the only class that hadn't been canceled this week, you planned to leave right after class and make the eight-hour drive from Kansas City to Chicago, and planned to get back home around 9 pm at night. You, Will, and Jay had been discussing this possibility of you not coming home since last Thursday when the storm had been forecasted.
You sighed and looked at all you stuff that you had lined up in the hallway of your apartment, right beside your door. You figured maybe they'd be wrong, so maybe you'd be able to leave today...it wouldn't be the first time meteorologists had been wrong.
You dialed Will's number and put your phone on speaker as you started to make your coffee.
"Hey, kiddo," he answered.
"I can't come home. It's supposed to keep snowing and there's accidents everywhere when I get about two hours from home and--"
"Hey, hey, it's okay," Will said.
"But it's not! I wanna come home for Thanksgiving, Will!"
"And you will. Thanksgiving's on Thursday. It's only Monday. You can always make the drive on Wednesday if it clears up."
"But what if it doesn't!"
"Hey, don't think like that. The plows will be out soon and then we'll go from there, okay?"
You sniffled. "Okay."
"Now, get ready for class and me and Jay will keep you updated on the road conditions. Sound good?"
"I guess," you answered.
"If there's one thing I know about Chicago weather is that it's unpredictable, so think positive."
"Yeah. I'm gonna go now. I'll text Jay and tell him I won't be coming home today. He's probably gonna call me in the next thirty minutes, too."
"Good idea. Have a good day, kiddo. And, there's still three days until Thanksgiving, so don't stress."
"Easier said than done."
***
Wednesday, 7 am
Jay stood in the kitchen, pouring himself a cup of coffee. Then, he looked outside. It wasn't snowing as hard, but after one quick look at the traffic and road conditions online, he knew most of the roads were still glare ice. There was no way you could make the drive back.
"Morning," Hailey said. She grabbed a mug from the cupboard. "Roads not looking any better?"
"No. I don't know what to do, Hailey. I don't want her to miss Thanksgiving, but it's not safe for her to drive. I mean, we could try to go there later in the day, but with traffic and everything..."
"We wouldn't get there until the middle of the night," Hailey finished.
Then his phone buzzed. It was a text from Will. There was also a picture attached.
Train tickets? the text read with a picture of train tickets that left at 9:30 am and got into Kansas City around 5 pm.
"Don't tell my brother I said this," Jay began, "but he's a genius." Hailey furrowed her eyebrows and Jay passed her his phone. "The Amtrac is still running."
Hailey smiled. "Nine-thirty, huh? Guess we better start packing."
***
You curled up on your bed. Even though it was only 6 pm, it was dark. And, hey, maybe you'd sleep for over 24 hours and could sleep through Thanksgiving. You and Jay had talked this morning and he told you it still wasn't safe for you to drive home. He said that if he could drive out, he would. But, even he knew it was unsafe to drive long distances in this weather.
You were just about to turn your phone on silent and put it in sleep mode when a call came through. It was from Jay.
"Yeah?" you asked while you held back tears.
"Come to your window. We're outside."
"What? Jay, I think I heard you wrong."
"Just, come look out your window," he repeated.
"You're scaring me. I'm not gonna go look outside without knowing what I'm gonna see. It's dark outside! Is there a serial killer near me? Is that why you want me to look outside? I didn't get an emergency alert or anything!"
"Y/N, nothing's wrong. But, the Amtrac was still running and we rented a car when we got down here and--"
"You're here?!" you exclaimed and jumped out of bed and ran to your window.
You quickly peeked through the blinds and sure enough, there were Jay, Will, and Hailey standing in front of a small, blue rental car, the headlights illuminating them.
Your face lit up. "I'm coming down!"
Then, you hung up your phone and quickly threw on a hoodie over your t-shirt and slipped your feet into your shoes, not caring if the sweatpants you were wearing had a little stain on them.
You ran from the walking gate to the parking lot. "How did you guys...Scratch that! When did you guys think this up?"
Jay pulled you into a hug. "Ugh, missed you, kid. Morning's aren't the same without you trying to steal my coffee."
"You loved it," you joked.
"And, to answer your question," Will started and you gave him a hug, "It was my idea."
"Jay even went so far as to call him a genius," Hailey supplied.
"I told you not to tell him that," Jay muttered.
"Oops, must've been all the drinks I had on the train."
"You didn't even—" Jay cut himself off with a sigh. "Forget it. Happy wife, happy life."
"Glad I wasn't on that train," you muttered.
"Wasn't too bad," Will said. "If you had headphones."
"You're an ass," Jay said.
"Well, this ass was the one who had the idea to get Amtrac tickets."
"So, you're a smart ass then?"
"C'mon you guys," you said, trying your best to stop their bickering. "Grab your stuff. Let's get inside and then we can order from the pub across the street."
"Sounds good to me," Will said. "I gotta try that fried chicken sandwich you're always talking about."
***
"Holy shit," Will said after he took his first bite of the fried chicken sandwich. "You weren't kidding."
"I think this is one of the best things I've ever tasted," Jay agreed.
Then, Hailey quickly reached over and stole the other half of her husband's sandwich.
"Hey!"
"I wanna try it!" Then she took a bite. "You guys are right, this is really good!"
Then, she gave Jay his sandwich back and dipped her five cheese grilled cheese that she'd gotten in her bowl of tomato soup.
"So, what are we doing for Thanksgiving tomorrow?" you asked.
"Shit. I didn't that far ahead," Will said.
"Can't get a turkey now, wouldn't thaw in time," Hailey said. "They'd probably be sold out anyway."
You stood up and started looking through your fridge. "Let's see...I have eggs, bread, milk, a bunch of condiments, wraps..." you continued listing off what you had in your fridge, freezer, and cupboard. "I probably have the stuff for sweet potato casserole, mashed potatoes, broccoli, and we can do sandwiches instead of turkey. Oh! I can also make these apple butter cinnamon rolls I've made a couple times when I have friends over."
"We can probably find rolls somewhere in the morning," Jay supplied. "And maybe some carrots somewhere for cooked carrots."
"I can make spanikopita if I can find the ingredients tomorrow," Hailey said.
"And I'll find the wine aisle tomorrow," Will said.
"Or Trulys. We can always have those," you suggested. "The tropical pack, though."
Will rolled his eyes. "Of course you'd suggest that."
"So, me and Will will go to the store tomorrow morning and you can make the cinnamon rolls. Hails, what do you need for the spanikopita?"
Hailey then told Jay what she needed and he wrote it down on his phone. Then, the four of you continued eating and thinking about everything you needed to do tomorrow.
***
"Morning, sleepy head," Hailey greeted when you woke up the next morning. She was standing at the stove making eggs, a cup of coffee sitting on the counter next to her. "Want some eggs?"
"Oh, you don't have to make me any. I can cook for myself," you answered.
"I know you can cook for yourself. But, I'm already cooking, so if you want some, I can make you some."
"Okay," you answered. "Thank you."
"No problem."
You went back to your room and grabbed the current book that you were reading.
"Here you go," Hailey said a few minutes later and handed you a plate of eggs and toast along with a cup of coffee.
"Thanks, Hails."
"You're welcome. Hey, you mind if I steal a book from you to read?"
You shook your head. "Go right ahead," you answered. "I'd highly recommend The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue."
"Alright, I'll read that one then."
Then, the two of you ate your breakfast and read your books and you had a quiet morning with your sister-in-law before you started cooking.
***
Six hours later, the grilled sandwiches were made and all the sides and the cinnamon rolls and wine were on the counter. There was a Blackhawks game on your tv since none of you watched the game that they played yesterday. And, even though it wasn't the Thanksgiving you had in mind, your brothers and Hailey still made it one to remember.

Choking:
Request from anon on tumblr: Hey can you pls do a story of like the Halstead siblings with y/n Halstead (their sister) and they are at dinner and she starts choking and they like save her and she passes out and worries them
A/N: The age in this one is first grade.
For Jay and Will, grades had always been something important...well, Will a bit more so than Jay. But, they were important nonetheless and they had instilled that in you. Because of this, you were super excited to show Jay your report card after school because you had gotten all As (the A in math could definitely be attributed to your brothers going over subtraction flashcards with you almost every day). So, Will sent a quick text telling him to meet the two of you at Applebees because that's where you wanted to go for dinner. And, if you got all As (or all As and Bs, but you didn't know about the B part, which was between Jay and Will), you got to go wherever you wanted that night for dinner. Tonight, you chose Applebees.
"Will!" you exclaimed when you saw him while waiting for your table. "I got all A's!"
"I heard!" Will said, matching your enthusiasm. "You might be smarter than me!"
You quickly shook your head. "Nuh-uh."
"And what makes you say that, missy?"
"Because you a doctor!"
"Well...you're definitely smarter than Jay."
"Hey!" Jay yelled, faking offense.
"You did mess up that subtraction problem that day," Will reminded him.
"I had been up for over 24 hours!"
They quickly stopped their petty bickering when Jay's name was called for their table.
***
Half an hour later, you were eating your chicken tenders and fries while your brothers ate their food.
You swallowed a big bite and felt it get stuck a bit, so you took a sip of water. It still wouldn't go down and you still had the water in your mouth!
You started to cough and the water spewed out of your mouth.
Jay saw your red face and quickly started hitting your back, trying to get the food to come out.
"Keep coughing, Y/N," Will told you as he stood up and got right next to you.
You did three big coughs and still nothing.
Will crouched down next to you. "Y/N, I'm gonna get this out."
Your head was starting to feel weird, so whatever Will said, you didn't hear him. But, the next thing you knew, you felt hands wrap around your belly and then you felt yourself go forward and then back quickly and then then the big piece of chicken tender came flying out of your mouth and hit the spot in the booth where Will had previously been sitting.
You gasped for air.
"You okay, kiddo?" Jay asked and ran a hand through your hair.
You shook your head and buried your face in his chest.
"I'll go get the bill and order a milkshake for her to go," Will said and stood up.
Jay nodded and just continued to hold you.
"No more chicken and fries!" you told him.
"It's okay," he said. "You don't have to finish them. Will's gonna get you your milkshake and pay and then we're gonna go home. Does that sound okay?"
You nodded.
No more chicken tenders for you!
***
The next day when you came home from school, Jay inspected your lunch box and saw that all you had eaten out of it, was your juice box. It had taken a bit of coaxing last night to get you to drink your milkshake, but they finally got you to drink it by explaining that you didn't have to chew.
He walked into your room to see you grabbing some stuffed animals, presumably bringing them out into the living room to play with.
"Are you feeling okay, kiddo?" Jay asked and crouched down to your height and handed you your stuffed cat.
"Uh huh," you told him, even though your head felt funny.
"You sure? You didn't eat your lunch today."
He put a hand to your forehead. You didn't feel warm.
"Wasn't hungry," you answered.
At that, your stomach growled.
"Well, you're hungry now. How about you come eat your sandwich or Goldfish, alright? Your animals can come with you, too."
At this, you started to cry. You were scared, you felt funny, and you were hungry.
"No!" you wailed. "Just juice! I want juice!"
"Why just juice, Y/N? Why don't you want Goldfish? You love Goldfish."
"Don't want Goldfishies cause they get stuck. Like the chicken nugget!"
"No. They won't," Jay reassured you.
"How you know?"
Jay thought for a second. How could he make a first-grader understand this.
Then, a lightbulb went off in his head.
"C'mere. I gotta show you something," Jay told you.
You followed him out of your room—arms full of stuffed animals—and into the kitchen. He grabbed an empty cardboard toilet paper roll from the recycling bin and set that on the counter. Then, he grabbed a piece of bread from the fridge.
He held up the empty toilet paper roll. "This is like your mouth, okay?" You nodded. He crumpled up the piece of bread. "And pretend this is the chicken nugget you ate last night."
"But that's not a chicken nuggy! That's bread!"
Jay smiled. "I know that. But just pretend. Just like when you pretend you're a princess."
"Okay!"
"When you put a big piece of food in your mouth, like this–" Jay tried his best to shove the piece of bread into the empty roll. "--it gets stuck," he finished. "Then, someone has to help you get it out." With a little effort, Jay managed to squeeze the piece of bread out. "Like this. That's what happened to you last night and then Will had to help you get it out."
"Uh-huh," you agreed.
Jay then proceeded to rip the bread into little pieces. "But, when the food is smaller, it doesn't get stuck. See?" He fed a few pieces of bread through the empty roll and then let them fall out the other side and onto the table. "Then they go into your tummy. You just need to make sure the food is small and chewed up."
"I just gotta bite my chicken nuggies and then they don't get stuck anymore?" you asked with a curious look on your face.
"And chew them good," Jay confirmed.
"Can I have chicken nuggies now? And Goldfishes?"
Jay laughed. In a normal scenario, he wouldn't let you have both chicken nuggets and Goldfish; he'd make you eat your sandwich that was leftover from your lunch. But, seeing as you've barely eaten today, he figured one time wouldn't kill you.
"I think we have some Dino nuggies somewhere."
You gasped excitedly. "You got me the Dino ones?"
"I did. Now, how about you and your animals go sit down and I'll bring them to you, okay?"
You did as Jay suggested and went and sat down, putting your stuffed animals on the other chairs at the table.
And, when Jay told Will about everything and how he convinced you to eat with that demonstration, Will told him that he could be a science teacher. Of course, Jay had laughed and told him no way. You were more than enough. He didn't think he could deal with twenty of you.

I Fell in Love with the Fire Long Ago - Will Halstead Imagine [Chicago Med]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Title: I Fell in Love with the Fire Long Ago
Pairing: Will Halstead X Reader
Based On: Would That I
Word Count: 1,429 words
Warning(s): mention of past relationships
Summary: Will has been through his share of relationships that crumbled apart. He knew better than jumping to the idea of true love. But when he meets (Y/n), he can't seem to stop himself from picturing what his future with them would look like.
Author's Note: This might be my favorite song on this album. It's gorgeous.
WASTELAND, BABY! - HOZIER WRITING CHALLENGE MASTERLIST
------------------
There were few people who would look at Will Halstead's dating history and call him particularly lucky.
He hadn't dated bad people. Quite the opposite. He had dated people who had a drive to help people. People that held goodness in their hearts.
The problem was that he kept getting involved with people in his place of work. Being in the same workplace meant that if the relationship crashed and burned, then it burned badly.
It was a hard pattern to break when so much of his time was spent in the hospital.
That was until he met (Y/n).
Well, it took him a while to properly meet (Y/n). At first, they would just wave and greet each other in the hallway of their apartment complex. It was just politeness.
It took Will far too long to properly introduce himself to them.
They had both gotten back around the same time. They waved at each other. And just as Will went to unlock his door, he turned around to face them.
"I'm Will," he said, pulling (Y/n)'s attention from their apartment door.
There was a pause before (Y/n) truly registered what was happening. "(Y/n)."
"Nice to meet you," he replied. "Properly, I mean."
"You too," they grinned at him. "I'll see you around."
"Yeah," he nodded.
(Y/n) walked into their apartment. Will lingered in the hall for a second, grinning at himself for finally getting over himself.
The two became more friendly after that. Simple greetings turned into small comments about work and the weather and the traffic and whatever other small topic could be discussed in the time that it took each of them to unlock their doors and walk into their apartments.
It was difficult for Will to not be curious. To not want to know more about them.
Their conversations only changed when Will got a few envelopes and a package with (Y/n)'s name on it.
He knew it was kind of late, but he couldn't really help his schedule.
So, he walked across the hall and knocked on (Y/n)'s door.
(Y/n)'s eyebrows furrowed as they saw Will on the other side of the door.
"Hey," he greeted.
"Hi," they replied, still confused about why he was there.
"Um, sorry, I know it's kinda late, but I got some of your mail," he held out his hand.
"Thanks," they took the few pieces of mail from him. They spotted the package with the envelopes and immediately seemed to brighten up. "Holy shit! Sorry."
"It's fine," Will chuckled at their excitement. He thought it was sweet. It made him feel a need to bite back a wide smile that wanted to form. "Can I ask what brought out that reaction?"
"It's a CD that I've been waiting on," they explained. "It's like how people collect vinyl. I know there's a more convenient way to listen to my music, but the CDs are just so nice to have."
"I get it," he promised. "How many have you got?"
"God, who knows," they muttered. "Almost a bookcase full."
He raised an eyebrow. "Must be an interesting collection."
"Yeah, that's the word people use for it," (Y/n) nodded.
After that day, (Y/n) made a promise to introduce Will to as much of their collection as possible. It wasn't very often because of Will's schedule, but the two had managed to make some kind of pattern out of it.
Will got used to their little schedule far faster than he'd care to admit.
He started looking forward to sitting on (Y/n)'s couch, listening to whatever album they had put in. He learned more about music and the history surrounding different albums and artists than he ever would've on his own. But he wasn't complaining. He found comfort in listening to (Y/n) ramble about it.
Over time, he felt something fall from his shoulders.
Some part of his history fading away. Piece by piece until he was a clean slate.
It was one of the best feelings he had ever experienced.
He thought that he would be resigned to holding those feelings in forever. He was too scared of messing up what he already had.
However, sometimes, our feelings get the best of us.
It all started out like a normal night.
Will went over and knocked on the door.
(Y/n) opened the door and immediately welcomed him, asking him about his day and how work had been.
That was another thing. (Y/n) did far more than just rant about their interests. They started every evening by telling Will to talk about his day while they decided on an album.
They were a good listener too. Entirely engaged. It was nice to know that it was just an echo chamber in that apartment. It was... perfect. That was the best word that Will had for it.
That night, (Y/n) almost immediately grabbed an album.
Will barely got sight of the album cover as their moved. AURORA was printed in big letters and there were two people standing very close to each other.
"I think you'll really like this one," (Y/n) said. "Daisy Jones & the Six, have you heard of them?"
"Briefly," Will replied. That was true. He remembered hearing about the hit band with one album. He had heard Daisy's later work. Beyond that, it was a mystery to him.
"Well, I am happy to be your guide into this amazing world of music," (Y/n) almost bounced onto the couch after placing the CD in the stereo on their TV stand.
Will was happy to be guided through the world. (Y/n) was easily one of the most interesting people he had ever listened to.
Throughout most of the night, (Y/n) was excitedly talking about the history of the band, trying to not take too much of his attention from the music itself.
They had just gotten to "More Fun to Miss".
"So, she sounded kind of different on this song," (Y/n) explained. They paused, letting Will listen to the woman's vocals. "A lot of people wanted to know why. If something had changed. Well, this documentary came out and Daisy and Billy told the world that he had kissed her just before she recorded the final take.
"I mean, the world lost its mind for a minute. It was such a weird thing to have this moment confirmed that so many had assumed happened.
"I personally was never really a part of that line of thinking. I felt like too many people focused so much on that that it boiled Daisy down to who she was in correlation to Billy and not who she was as a person."
Will just sat and nodded. He was so drawn in by just (Y/n) talking that he barely noticed when the rambling stopped. He didn't want it to. He wanted to spend hours, days even, just listening to them talk about anything they wanted.
Because then, he could fixate so wholly on them without feeling a need to look away before he looked weird.
"Are you okay," (Y/n) asked after a moment.
Will blinked a few times. "Yeah. Why do you ask?"
"You just look a little... distracted," they replied.
"No, not at all," he shook his head. "I just... I just like listening to you."
"Oh," (Y/n) looked down, grinning a bit to themself.
Will felt ridiculous for how easily he could picture spending every day like this. Coming back here after the end of his shift, sitting next to (Y/n), and relaxing while listening to them talk about... anything, really.
He could see dinners and movies and dates. Introducing (Y/n) to co-workers. Kissing and holding each other and getting gifts.
He couldn't remember picturing a relationship so clearly since he was a teenager in high school, thinking about how he would spend the rest of his life with someone that probably just looked at him for a little too long.
"(Y/n)," he said quietly.
They looked at him.
As soon as they did, he leaned forward and pressed his lips to theirs.
It wasn't until (Y/n) started to kiss him back that his hand came up to cup the back of their head, essentially holding them as close as possible.
The entire moment was so... calm. Every other thought was silenced. The music even seemed to fade away for a little while.
Will leaned away first, smiling at (Y/n) as soon as he did. That moment was so much better than anything his mind had constructed.
Maybe that pattern was a little easier to break than he originally gave it credit for.

Happy Halloween! Part two of my Halloween fics is now here! This is another Halloween story that happened to me growing up tricking or treating! Enjoy
“Be careful and remember to say thank you” called Mrs. Halstead while she watched her kiddos run down the sidewalk dressed as a cowboy and a surgeon while carrying their pillow cases.
“Okay” called back Jay while fast walking to keep up with Will.
Approaching the first house of the night, Jay walked up and knocked loudly on the door and stepped back.
The door opened and a nice lady dressed in devil ears holding a bowl of candy opened the door.
“Trick or treat,” smiled Jay.
“Give me something good to eat or smell my feet” added Will while holding out his pillow case.
“My, aren’t you two adorable! Here you go” she beamed while dropping two pieces of candy each into their pillow cases.
“Thank you” exclaimed Jay while flashing his toothless smile.
“Yea, thanks misses”
The boys walked back onto the sidewalk and began their hunt for the next candy rush.
“Let’s go to that house!” stated Will, while dragging his brother in the direction of a house with lights on.
“Kay” replied Jay back
As the boys approached the house, they noticed they could see into the house.
“Remember, I knock!” reminded Jay as they approached the front door.
Sticking his fisted hand out, he tried knocking on what he assumed would be a screen door. However instead of getting a knuckle of screen, he got a knuckle of air and began falling forward into the house.
Quick reflexes, Will dropped his pillowcase and grabbed his brother before he fell face first into the house.
“Woah there buddy” exclaimed a nice old man who came running when he heard the commotion.
Embarrassed, but trying not to let it show, Jay held his pillowcase out and exclaimed, “trick or treat”
“Here’s some candy boys” stated the old man while placing 2 pieces in each bag. “And a little extra for the little guy” he added while dropping a few more pieces in Jay’s bag.
“Thank you” replied Will while dragging his brother away.
*****
“I can’t believe you almost ate shit on Halloween in someone’s house!” Y/N laughed while brewing coffee.
Jay just shook his head, “I remember after that you didn’t even want to go to anymore houses” stated Will.
“Well would you have wanted to, if your ego got bruised at the age of 6?” shot back Jay while getting up to grab mugs for everyone.
“All I got to say is, I’m glad I’m the oldest and you guys weren’t around to witness my horrible Halloweens and mom and dad aren’t around to share them” smugly stated Will while taking a sip of his coffee.
It wasn’t until he said it that an awkward air set in and the mood shifted dramatically.
“I miss them” you stated glumly.
“We all do, but hey at least we are all together for once on Halloween” replied Jay.
“Yea, this is nice,” added Will.
“Happy Halloween” you smiled
“Happy Halloween” repeated your brothers.

Well, This Is Awkward
Summary: Lyla walks in on something she didn’t expect to see.
TW: Making out
Word Count: Somewhere around 543
Note: Hi!  This just randomly popped in my head whilst thinking about Upstead. (I read it after originally posting [if that makes sense 😭] and edited it slightly but yeah anyway) I’m working on some more scenarios, idk if you really care but oh well if you do you know now lol.
Anyway, I hope you like this one! (:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“What did you guys do?”  Will inquired on the other line, Lyla struggling to control her laughter.
He was referring to the prank Lyla and Mia pulled on Dante, and it was pretty funny.
“Just tell me!”  Will whined, Lyla trying to suppress her laughter.
“O-Okay.”  Lyla cleared her throat, taking a sip of her water before speaking, “We might’ve made all of his shirts pink.”
“Lyla!”  Will exclaimed, Lyla bursting into laughter.
Lyla calmed down once again, making her way to the front door, “Hey, at least he won’t look homeless anymore!”
“You have a good point.”  Lyla smiled in pride at herself as Will continued, “How did he react?”
“He was pissed.”  Lyla put her phone between her ear and her shoulder as she opened the door, taking another sip of her water as she stepped inside.
Lyla’s eyes went wide with surprise as she began to choke on her water, shocked at the sight in front of her.
She knew Jay and Hailey had to have had feelings for each other, sure.  What she didn’t expect was to witness a makeout session on the couch in the living room.  No, she was not expecting that at all.
Lyla finally stopped choking, Jay and Hailey looking at her, embarrassment on their faces.
“Well,”  Lyla chuckled nervously, clearing her throat, “This is awkward.”
“What’s awkward?”  Will inquired from the other line.
“Shut up Will.”  Lyla muttered, closing the door behind her.
She made her way across the house before turning around and walking backwards.  She pointed to the stairs, “I’m gonna be in my room if you need me but uh, you guys seem pretty busy.”
“Lyla-”  Jay started, trailing off at the end.
Lyla turned on her heels, running up the stairs, “Bye!”
Jay groaned in embarrassment as Lyla shut her door, making her way to her desk as she tried to get those images out of her head.
“What’s awkward?”  Will asked, curiosity in his voice.
“Can you and I do something tonight?”  Lyla suggested, ignoring the question.
“Sure.  Do you want me to see if Jay-”
“He’s a little busy at the moment.”
     “What- what does that mean?”
Lyla sighed dramatically, “I think I’m gonna be scarred for life.”
     “You’ll be fine.”
Lyla chuckled, “Yeah, I totally didn’t just see my brother and his partner half naked on the couch.”
Will’s eyes widened as he parked his car, “Actually?!”
“No, I’m making it up.”  Lyla replied sarcastically, “At least there’s one thing I can say.”
Will sighed, knowing exactly what Lyla was going to say, “What are you gonna say?”
     “I told you so!”
     “Yeah yeah.  I’m outside.”
“Okay.  I’m going through the back though.”
     “Good idea.”
Lyla rolled her eyes, standing up from her chair and grabbing a hoodie as she hung up the phone.  As she made her way downstairs and to the back door, she got a notification.
She pressed it, snickering as she read the text message from Jay.
     “Don’t tell Will.”
“Too late.”  Lyla hit the send button, pocketing her phone as she made her way outside.
“Finally.”  Lyla thought as she made her way to Will’s car, glad that her brother and his partner were finally more than what Jay described as ‘really good friends.’

oOoOO!! Another writer for Will Halstead, there are not enough of you. Can I get a Will Halstead fic with Prompt 65, please?
65. "You didn't deserve that. You deserve so much better" with Will Halstead Claudia's Debut Season of Heartfirst Writing
Tumblr media
One moment you were standing on your feet at Molly's with a drink in your hand and the next you were on the ground, the drink spilled all over you, with an angry patron yelling at you.
Oh, yeah, that patron happened to be your current romantic partner.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" they yelled. You accidentally bumped into them as you made space at the bar for Will to get a drink. The bump caused their drink to spill, too. "Why can't you just not be clumsy for one fucking second?"
"I'm sorry," you murmur, your lower back throbbing from the fall.
"You're always like this. I'm done with you." And with that, they stalk out of the bar, leaving you sitting on the ground now single.
"Here," Will says, offering you his hand. "Stella says that there are some cloths in the back you can use to dry off. She has a spare shirt she'll get for you."
Taking Will's hand, you get up, place your glass on the bar, and let Will lead you to the back kitchen. You prop yourself up against a kitchen island and let the last minute catch up to you.
Your partner just broke up with you because you bumped into them and you fell. Looking back, they were a giant red flag, but you've been single for so long that you let it all slide for the few good moments you two had together.
"There you go," Will says, handing you a wet towel. Slowly, you start to clean the spilled alcohol off of your chest. "You didn't deserve that. You deserve so much better. You deserve someone who'd make sure you were okay when you fell. You deserve someone who'd help you up and help you get cleaned up. You deserve someone who'd make sure you're okay when you fall instead of breaking up with you. You deserve so much better than that."
"Yeah, well those people aren't lining up to date me right now," you snort.
"I mean, I've been lined up for years, waiting for you," Will mumbles. Despite his low tone, you heard his loud and clear.
"Then why didn't you say anything?" you ask, exasperated. "I gave up ever dating you years ago!"
"What?" Will asks, shocked and confused.
"Yeah, I thought you didn't have any romantic feelings for me."
"Oh, well, I do," Will confirms, a small grin covering his face.
"Man, we're idiots, aren't we?" you ask amongst laughter.
"We'll be idiots together," Will says before pulling you in for a kiss. "Because idiots always find each other in the end."

Will ❛ remind me why we’re friends again? ❜ to Conner (or the other way around if that works better for you). Thanks
Tumblr media
Day 13 of the Advent Writing Challenge!
Connor shrugged his shoulders with a smirk as he threw back his shot of whiskey. This was a conversation Connor and the red-headed doctor had sometimes. Sometimes neither man could believe how far they had come from the feuding trauma fellow and chief resident of the ED. But yet despite everything against them, they became friends. Best friends even. Connor’s smirked dimmed when he looked at Will Halstead. Having a best friend made Connor thought about leaving Chicago all that much harder.
Especially when Connor thought about hard of a time Will had been having with the car accident and Natalie’s amnesia. Was it better just not to tell him? If no one else Will deserved to know that Connor was leaving. With that thought in mind, he patted Will’s shoulder as he threw back his own shot of whiskey. “Hey, buddy, I need to talk to you about something...I’ve already told Goodwin and Latham. But I’m leaving Chicago...”
Will opened his mouth, but before he could utter a word; Connor launched into an explanation. About Ava, his dad, and his need to go. To run because he couldn’t even think about stepping foot in the OR room Ava died in without feel nauseated.
“Where are you going to go?” Will asked when he had finished talking. Connor shrugged at his red-headed friend, “I don’t have a clear idea yet. I have a few offers on the table. But I haven’t looked at them yet. I have time to decide.”
“Dude, I get it. But I’m also going to miss you.”
“Could you imagine saying that four years ago?” Connor asked with a smirk, trying to lighten the heavy mood. The red-head smirked back but it was less so, “No, four years ago I probably would’ve been saying good riddance.”

Your hospital shift was nothing short of exhausting.
That day there were three hospitalizations in the ICU due to a terrible accident that happened in the afternoon. Three patients, all of them brain dead. The ward was short-staffed and it was just you and another nurse, Amanda, on that shift so dealing with these three new patients, along with the other ones, was really exhausting.
After closing your locker, you removed the necklace where you hung the ring and slipped it onto the ring finger of your left hand, which you did at the end of each shift. You didn't want to risk losing it during work, you’d never forgive yourself for it so you just carried it around your neck during the shifts. You looked at it for a moment with a smile on your lips thinking back to the day Jay asked you to marry him.
You took your cell phone from the pocket of your uniform and, as you walked towards the exit, bag on your shoulders, you noticed various texts from Jay, the last one dating back to a couple of minutes prior.
From Fiancée 💍, 7:17 pm
Baby we're still dealing with a difficult case, I think I'll be late tonight. Please let me know when you get home. I love you endlessly. Be careful.
From Fiancée 💍, 7:55 pm
Baby? Are you okay?
From Fiancée 💍, 8.21 pm
Should I send a patrol to the hospital? You know I'll do it love.
You chuckled not doubting about that, you knew he would. Jay had always been very protective of you, which you wouldn't admit but loved it madly. You loved he cared about you, so much he’d leave everything and everyone to come to you if you asked him to.
From you, 8.27 pm
I'm sorry love, it's been a hard shift and I just picked up my cell phone. I'm going home now. How are you? When will you finish? You’ll come home soon, right?
You left the hospital and started walking home. It was late spring and the temperatures were finally starting to warm up a bit, allowing you to finally breathe fresh air. You really needed it after a whole day of smelling the hospital and disinfectants.
Your cell phone started ringing following a call.
“Hi baby! You really miss me that much, don’t you?” You begin, bringing your cell phone to your ear, a smile on your lips.
“I always miss you, you know that,” your fiancée answered on the other end of the phone. “Are you walking home?”.
“Yes, it's a beautiful evening and I felt like walking.”
Jay sighed. “Baby you know I don't like the idea of you walking alone in the dark, you could’ve taken a taxi or waited for me to pick you up.”
“Oh come on Jay, what’s gonna happen. I'll be home in twenty minutes,” you retorted “Where are you?”.
“I'm still in the district baby, I have to finish writing a case report and then I'm finally leaving,” you heard some noise in the background but you couldn't figure out what he was doing.
Jay continued to keep you company on the phone, refusing to leave you completely alone even though you'd insisted that he finish work so he'd get back to you soon.
You asked him about his day and he started telling you what he had done as you listened to him carefully, asking him a few questions from time to time when you didn't quite understand something. You bumped into a person and quickly mumbled an apology before walking on, quickly glancing at the man who reassured you not to worry.
“Everything okay baby?” Jay asked.
“Yeah, yeah, I got distracted and bumped into a guy, no big deal. What were you saying?”.
Suddenly an unease feeling went through your body. You tried to let it go, thinking it was just a figment of your imagination.
You clasped your hand around your purse, quickly picking up your pace when you began to hear footsteps behind you.
They were so loud you seemed to hear them only a few feet away from you.
You turned around and stopped in your tracks, looking around for a few seconds before letting out a sigh of relief.
There was no one walking behind you.
Your heart was pounding and anxiety was eating up your stomach and you forgot for a moment you were on the phone with Jay.
Stay calm, you're just tired.
“Baby? You still there?” Jay's voice brought you back to reality. “Oh yeah, sorry, I couldn’t hear you anymore.” You answered. You didn't want to make him worry about your simple and stupid feeling, you knew if you told him you had the impression someone was following you he would’ve rushed to you and acted like the world was about to end.
You were sure it was just the fatigue speaking, but your senses remained alert until you got to your apartment. You took a shower while you waited for Jay to come back home, ordering food since you knew neither of you would feel like cooking.
You were about to lower the blinds in your bedroom window when, glancing outside, you noticed a figure standing on the sidewalk in front of you.
It was too dark for you to make out who it was and for a few moments you stood paralyzed, your eyes fixed on that dark figure, trying to figure out if it was just a hallucination.
The noise of the front door opening and closing made you jump in place, nearly giving you a heart attack.
You took your eyes off that figure for just a second.
Just for a moment.
And it was no longer there.
You ran your hands over your face in frustration, letting out a deep sigh at the same time before walking over to Jay, deciding you were going to ignore it and just needed a good night's sleep.
-
The following days went on quietly and the strange episode that happened a few nights before passed into oblivion. But that was before something else weird made your skin crawl.
“Are you sure you don't want me to drive you to work babe?” Jay asked you as he planted numerous kisses on your lips, making you smile between them. It was morning and you were both in the doorway, your arms around his chest as you both struggled to pull away.
“I'm positive baby, just think about resting okay? I’ll see you tonight.”
He cupped his hands over your face, giving you one last long, sweet kiss on your lips. “I'll have dinner ready for you. You be careful. I love you so much.”
“I love you more.“
The day went on peacefully. You had to work a double shift in the hospital as the nurse on the afternoon shift was sick and had to take over her place.
You loved your job, you really did. There was nothing else you would’ve done in your life but sometimes you couldn't deny how difficult and tiring it was.
“Y/N, sweetie!” You heard the voice of your colleague, Becca, calling you from a patient’s room you'd just passed. You sighed, recognizing the tone she used when she needed something.
You took a few steps back, looking into the room and noticing Becca intent on changing the unconscious patient's dressing.
“Becca I was about to leave, why do you still want to torture me?” You whined and she rolled her eyes. “Please help me change these dressings. Pretty please, I can't wait to leave too.”
She put on the sweetest puppy face she was capable of and for the second time you sighed and rolled your eyes. You ended up disinfecting your hands, putting on a pair of gloves and helping her to change the patient’s dressings.
By the time you finished you were dead tired and couldn't wait to get back to Jay and sleep, you probably would’ve just run away if anyone else had asked you any other favor. For this reason, you practically flew out of the hospital after saying goodbye to your colleagues.
It was particularly cold that evening and you found yourself rubbing your hands on your arms in an attempt to get some warmth. Thank God you took the car that day.
You walked over to your car and grabbed the keys from your bag. Before unlocking it, you noticed an object resting on the windshield, held on it by the wiper. You furrowed your eyebrows when you realized it was a rose.
A black rose.
What the fuck?
There was no card attached to it, just the rose.
Your heartbeat began to accelerate and anxiety took over you. You tried to keep calm and not freak out since there was definitely an explanation why someone had to put a damn black rose on your car.
Maybe they were wrong, maybe it was for another person and they got mixed up with the cars.
Who the hell gives a black rose though?
Your eyes scanned the parking lot around you but you didn't notice anyone suspicious or anyone nearby watching you, before dropping the rose on the asphalt, trying not to think about it. There was definitely a mistake.
The car ride was strange.
You couldn't shake the feeling something was wrong. You kept looking in the rear view mirror to notice if there were any cars following you, you were probably just getting paranoid but you couldn't keep yourself calm.
When you parked in your usual spot once you got back home, that feeling of discomfort hadn't disappeared, on the contrary, it had increased.
The streetlights hadn't been turned on yet and it was dark enough outside so distinguishing objects or people was pretty hard.
After locking the car you were about to enter the apartment building when your gaze fell on the sidewalk in front of you.
You didn't know if it was just your imagination, but you swore there was someone standing, exactly in front of you and, despite the darkness, you were sure they were watching you.
You couldn't figure out who that person was, only that he was a man.
Your breath caught in your chest as you realized it was the same figure you'd spotted a few days earlier from your bedroom window.
The silence was almost deafening, making everything more frightening and suggestive.
Your muscles were paralyzed as your eyes seemed to be glued to that man.
Suddenly he moved and your heart almost stopped beating.
But when you saw him go away, that was the last thing you expected.
He did nothing, just walked away.
You tried to explain what was happening in your mind. Maybe it was just a coincidence, that man was there for another reason and you had nothing to do with it.
You let out a sigh you didn't realize you were holding and quickly entered the apartment building, rushing to your home where you found Jay on the couch watching a show.
That rose left you with a feeling of anxiety that you couldn't get rid of easily, also caused by that figure you saw standing in front of you. You didn't immediately tell Jay, you didn't want to worry him since you already knew how he’d react and he’d worry to death and go crazy about it.
You just wanted to be sure that something’s happening before alarming him.
But, knowing you like the back of his hand, he immediately sensed there was something strange, that something was bothering you. You tried to convince him otherwise, that you were just awfully tired after working a double shift at the hospital.
“Baby, really, I'm fine. I'm just dead tired,” you said for the hundredth time since you'd set foot inside the house.
“Are you sure? You know you can talk to me. Did someone upset you? Did something happen at work?” He kept going, thumb and forefinger under your chin to keep your head up and make you look into his eyes. Your hands slid under his shirt, caressing his chest as you placed your lips on his, trying to distract him.
“No baby, nobody did anything. Seriously, nothing happened,” you muttered against his lips, “I just missed my fiancé like hell.” You bit his bottom lip and he hissed, his breathing suddenly heavy. “Do you want to take a shower with me?”.
“Fuck yeah,” Jay had said before crashing his mouth on yours and kissing your breath away. His tongue explored every corner of your mouth as his lips moved masterfully with yours. His hands went down your body and he bent slightly before reaching your thighs, pressing his fingers against your skin and urging you to jump into his arms.
You wrapped your legs around his waist and your arms around his neck meanwhile he carried you to the bathroom, never letting go of you. As he kicked the door open, you found yourself completely lost in him, the rest of the world vanishing and all negative thoughts forgotten.
However this sensation of bliss was destined to vanish.
In the following days the feeling that was tormenting you didn’t disappear, instead it only got worse.
You started to sense someone was constantly following you and watching you, that every time you walked in the middle of the street there was someone behind you even if every time you turned around there was no one.
After finding that rose on your car, this kept happening and almost every night for two weeks a rose would appear on your windshield.
Jay knew something was wrong, you weren't acting normally anymore.
You were always jumpy, any sudden noise made you almost have a heart attack, even if you were cooking and he suddenly hugged you from behind you’d be scared to death.
Needless to say Jay asked you a million times what was going on, what was it that was bothering you so much but you didn't want to bother him. You didn't want to upset him, make him worry about some stupid feeling of yours, not when his work was already haunting him enough.
Maybe deep down you were hoping whoever was leaving you those roses would stop and eventually leave you alone.
One evening you went out with your friends, on one of your rare days off, to try to keep your mind occupied and to catch up with them since you didn't always have the opportunity because of your hectic job.
Between laughter, jokes, chatting and various cocktails, the evening went on normally and by 1:00 am each one of you went back home. You headed towards your car, parked not far from the bar where you had all met together, calm and happy for the first time in weeks.
However, this feeling of calmness faded the instant your gaze fell on a damn black rose sitting on your windshield, again.
A wave of anger took over you.
You were tired, so damn tired of this little game that whoever it was was playing against you.
Who the hell was this person? What the fuck did they want from you? Why were they targeting you?
Whoever that person was they following you, they knew what you were doing, who you were with, and it scared the shit out of you as well as infuriating you.
You tore all the petals off that rose that would haunt you forever before throwing it angrily on the asphalt and getting into the car. You started it and quickly drove away from there, intending to go home immediately.
You wanted Jay, you wanted your fiancée. You wanted to hug him, feeling safe again in his arms and forget about all that shit that was going on.
As soon as you got home, however, your heart skipped a beat when you saw Jay laying on the sofa, asleep. The TV was on and he had his cell phone resting on his stomach, holding it close in case you called him. A smile was born on your lips and for an instant all negative thoughts flew away as your attention focused on the sleeping figure on the couch.
You leaned towards him, leaving a sweet little kiss on his forehead, also gently stroking his hair with your left hand. He stirred in his sleep and opened his eyes at the same instant, looking around before looking at you, a sigh of relief to see you were back home safe and sound.
“I’m sorry I woke you up baby,” you whispered, kissing his forehead again “Let's go to bed so you can sleep again.”
He mumbled something you couldn’t catch and rubbed his eyes before flashing a smile that nearly made your knees buckle. He nodded and then stood up, stretching his arms before pulling you into a hug. “How are you my love? Did you have fun?”.
The memory of that rose returned to your mind but for some reason, seeing his eyes so red and tired, you decided not to worry him about it and you’d talk to him about it the following morning.
“Mmh,” you muttered nodding your head “I really had fun, we needed this girls night out even though I missed you a lot.”
He chuckled, placing his hands on your face and giving you a kiss on the lips. “I’m glad darling, you deserved it since you’re working so hard lately. And I missed you so much more,” he kissed you again “Come on, let's go to sleep now.”
But that night you couldn't sleep given the thousands of thoughts that were going through your head. You couldn't help but think who would do something like that, what the hell those roses meant. Was there anyone who had it in for you? Did you do something to someone? Maybe an angry patient?
You thought again and again about who could be doing this but none occurred to you. Jay told you about his cases so many times you knew that whoever did this was doing it to torture you, to keep you on your toes, to make you live in fear.
And the fact they were succeeding was infuriating you.
Fear turned into pure terror when, while checking your cell phone, you noticed a text from an unknown number.
So pretty. Can’t wait to meet you.
How did they get your number?
You were so immersed in your thoughts you didn't notice it was morning and that Jay had woken up in the meantime. He literally jumped out of bed when you told him the time after he asked you, realizing he was late. You had the afternoon shift so you didn't have to worry about getting ready for quite a while longer.
“Baby can I talk to you about something?” You had asked him, not being able to hold it in anymore even though you knew you picked up the worst time to do it.
How smart were you for wanting to talk to him about something so delicate as he was hurring to get dressed and going to work? Not much.
“Can you tell me about it later? I'm so sorry, but I'm super late…” he replied frantically as he ran from one part of the room to another looking for the keys. He stopped for a moment in front of you, placing his hands on your face, analyzing your features. “Is it something important though? If…”
You shook his head, placing your hands on his chest and giving him a reassuring smile even if anxiety was making you nauseous. “No, it's not urgent baby. I'll tell you tonight. Now go.”
He smiled at you and made sure to leave you a long, sweet kiss on your lips before saying goodbye and literally flying out of the front door.
It could wait, right?
You tried to keep yourself busy all morning, cleaning every corner of your apartment and keeping your mind from the negative thoughts.
You couldn't deny the slightest noise made you jump, even when you accidentally dropped something on the floor. You hated this feeling, you hated having to be afraid in your own home, you hated whoever was doing this to you, you hated them so fucking much.
You nearly jumped for joy when you realized it was time to get ready for work, the thought that for few hours you'd be safe made you especially happy to go to the hospital.
You took a shower before quickly putting on your uniform and packing your bag. You checked that everything you needed was there, house and car keys and hospital locker keys, a bottle of water, tissues, tampons, some snacks, pepper spray and a small knife. Jay had forced you to carry them around constantly, asserting you could never be too safe and he’d be comfortable with the thought you had something to protect you in case of need, and never as then as then you were grateful to him.
Once you left the apartment, you made sure you locked the door at least three times. The anxiety that had been living with you for weeks was now gripping your stomach, forcing you to constantly look around and keeping you alert to any individual passing by you.
You forcefully clutched your purse to you, walking briskly to your car and unlocking before climbing in and locking yourself inside. You let out a breath you didn't realize you were even holding as your eyes continued to scan the perimeter for any type of threat.
Did you already mention how much you hated this?
“It's okay Y/N, it's okay, just take it easy,” you whispered to yourself, taking a deep breath before putting on your seat belt and starting the car.
As you drove to the hospital you couldn't help but constantly look at the rear view mirror, almost as if you expected someone to be following you but they weren't, there was no car that you repeatedly noticed behind you.
Your cell phone started ringing and you took it from inside your bag, not taking your eyes off the road. Without even looking who it was, imagining for a moment it was Jay, you answered.
“Hello?”.
The smile on your lips instantly disappeared when instead of a voice you started to hear a heavy sigh, almost a pant.
“Hello?”.
You took the phone away from your ear and glanced at the screen, noting that it wasn't Jay, or anyone else you knew, but an unknown ID.
“Who is this?” You continued, hoping whoever it was would answer and maybe you'd recognize the voice. The person on the other end of the phone just kept sighing heavily, making your heart beat so hard you thought you were about to have a heart attack at any moment.
“What the fuck do you want from me?! Leave me alone!” You screamed, in the grip of fear, anxiety and anger that this person was forcing you to suffer. You closed the call and threw the cell phone on the passenger seat, not caring if it had bumped into something or was broken.
Your vision began to blur with tears fearing for your safety. They had your number. They knew where you lived. What kept them from taking you and killing you?
Your hands were shaking on the wheel as you parked at the hospital, palms sweaty. Your heart was still pounding and there wasn't a muscle in your body that didn't shake like your hands.
You took a few minutes to compose yourself, not wanting to cause questions from colleagues about the reason of your emotional state.
You took a few deep breaths and wiped your tears away, constantly telling yourself that everything was fine, that you'd be fine, that no one could hurt you in the hospital.
You never felt the need to have Jay with you like then. God you were stupid, so fucking stupid for not telling him about all of this before, for keeping everything inside you and hoping it’d eventually just go away, for underestimating what was happening. You were being stalked.
You texted him, telling him you'd arrived at the hospital and asking how his day was going, determined to tell him about the person who was stalking you as soon as you got off work.
You never thought you'd say it but you were never as glad you had a hard shift as you were that afternoon. Four patients arrived, one after suffering a stroke, two from a car accident and another after falling from the roof of his house.
The entire shift consisted of you and your colleagues running back and forth across the ward, treating patients, resuscitating them after one of them went into cardiac arrest twice. Your mind was focused on nothing but your patients and in treating them, everything else was left out of the hospital. You wouldn't let whoever was stalking you ruin your job, ever.
At the end of the shift there was no need to say you were dead tired and couldn't wait to go to sleep and although it was only 8:00 pm, the lack of sleep of the night before starting to take a toll on you.
As you placed your stethoscope in the locker and grabbed your bag, you removed your engagement ring from the chain around your neck and putted it on your finger. Your cell phone rang following a text notification and your heart skipped a beat for an instant.
The anxiety, which you managed to not to think about during the afternoon, returned stronger than ever to grip your stomach and for a moment you considered to throw the phone away.
But you thought it’d Jay and when you realized that it was indeed him, you breathed a sigh of relief. He said he'd be late that night because of a particularly difficult case and to let him know when you'd be done and went back home.
You tried to hide your sorrow, not wanting to be alone, especially in that situation.
You quickly typed a text back, asking him what he’d like for dinner, and put your cell phone in your bag. You said goodbye to your colleagues and walked towards the hospital exit.
You took a deep breath, praying to God to go home safe and sound.
Although spring had arrived it was particularly cold that evening due to the wind blowing and you cursed yourself for not bringing a jacket with you.
You walked, actually, almost ran to your car.
Anxiety was eating you alive and your heart was pounding, fear flowing like a river through your veins.
After taking the keys from your bag and unlocked the car, you quickly looked around, a sigh of relief leaving your lips when you saw no one was around you.
But suddenly the keys fell out of your hands as a slimy hand placed over your mouth and an arm around your hips.
Your bag fell to the ground as you began to squirm in an attempt to free yourself from whoever grabbed you.
Adrenaline coursed through your veins as the fear of dying made you fight like never before.
You screamed, your throat burning, even though because of the hand your scream came out muffled.
“Stop fighting it, it had to happen sooner or later, you knew it was going to happen sweetie,” A man's voice came hoarsely to your ears and you suppressed a gag.
You managed to hit his side with your elbow, hard enough to loosen his grip on you and you tried to push him away with all the strength you had in your body.
“You fucking whore!”.
You threw yourself to get the car keys on the asphalt but the man was faster than you and grabbed your arm, pressing his fingers into your skin with such force you were sure they’d leave a mark.
A searing, stinging pain radiated up your face as his fist hit you full-on, knocking you to the ground. You put your hands forward to try to cushion the fall, but it caused you scratches and minor lacerations on both your forearms.
“We're meant to be. I know you want it. I saw it.”
You glanced at him and almost fainted when after few seconds your recognized him.
You had already met him. He was the guy you bumped into two weeks ago.
What the fuck?!
He tried to grab your wrists but before forcing you to get up, you managed to kick him in his genital area, using all the strength you had in your body. A sound of pure pain escaped his mouth and he backed away, leaning forward and gripping the sore area with his hands.
You took advantage of that moment of weakness to get off the asphalt. You weren't going to let him hurt you, not anymore.
You grabbed his black hair in two fists and you didn't care about the damage you would’ve caused him, you didn't care you were a nurse, that you were supposed to be the one to treat people and not hurt them, but you kneed him in his face and the horrible noise his bones made, suggested you most likely broke his nose.
You pushed him to the ground, ignoring the way he grunted in pain and the blood pouring profusely from his nose, kicking him in the stomach with such force that even you were stunned.
You never fought in your entire life, never kicked anyone or punched someone, you hated the idea of hurting people but at that very moment your life was on the line and you had to protect yourself.
The man was laying on the asphalt grunting and muttering some curse word and you took advantage of it. You had to run away, that was your only chance.
You quickly grabbed your car keys and purse off the ground before opening the door and getting in. You locked yourself in before you started fumbling to get the vehicle going.
Your hands were shaking and your vision was still blurry from the punch he had thrown at you.
You gave him a quick look, terrified he’d get up and kill you on the spot.
You didn't know how but you managed to start the car and without even looking back you drove away from that parking lot. You knew you couldn't drive in those conditions but you just wanted to get away from that monster.
You didn't know where to go, you didn't want to go home, the terror of being attacked there would’ve killed you so you went to the place where there was the only person you wanted to see, the only one who could make you feel better, safe.
The journey to the district was awful.
Your body was driving but it was as if you were experiencing everything from the outside, as if your soul had left your body and was looking at you from afar.
You didn't know how you managed to drive and not run over anyone or crash yourself.
Your breathing was still quickening, your chest rose and fell as if you'd run a marathon, your trembling hands struggling to hold onto the steering wheel. Your vision was blurred due to copious tears flowing from your eyes and streaming down your face, not even realizing you were crying desperately.
Your face was in pain and you were sure a huge bruise would appear on your cheek, although you didn't care, grateful you were still alive, that you managed to escape.
When you arrived at the district, you didn’t care about parking your car properly, or to take your bag or lock it after getting off. You just wanted Jay.
A smile appeared on Sergeant Platt's face the moment she saw you walking up the stairs, but when she noticed the way you were running, it immediately disappeared.
“Oh my God Y/N!” she exclaimed as soon as she saw you up close. Your face was streaked with tears, an expression of pure terror and fear contouring your features, your uniform stained with dust. She ran towards you, placing her hands on your arms. “What happened to you?” She took a look at your body looking for any other injury. “Oh dear. It's okay, whatever happened you're safe here.”
You kept breathing hard and your eyes were so full of tears you could barely see her.
“Shh it's okay. Come on, let's go sit down.”
She put her arm around your shoulders as she took your hand with her free one as a sign of support. She led you into one of the break rooms, making you sit on the couch and sitting next to you.
Her hand kept squeezing yours meanwhile the other stroked your back, trying to calm you down.
“Do you want some water?” She asked and you nodded, not being able to speak at the moment. Trudy got up and ran to get a bottle of water.
She handed it to you after opening the cap and it broke her heart to see the way you were shaking. “T-thanks,” you stammered, your chest shaking with sobs. “J-Jay.”
“I'm going to call him right away, don't move from here,” she said, seeing the way you needed him. She got up and ran upstairs, where Intelligence was still busy working on the case.
Everyone turned to the sergeant, who was at the top of the stairs with an expression that did not bode well. “Trudy, did something happen?” Voight asked as soon as he saw her but her gaze fell on Jay, who was standing by the whiteboard, arms folded across his chest.
“Jay… It's Y/N…” She spoke, saying nothing else. “She's downstairs now…”
Jay's eyes widened at the sergeant's words, his eyebrows furrowed in an expression of worry and fear. He knew something was up, by the way Platt looked at him and a wave of anxiety hit him, his mind now focused only on you.
Without even letting her finish the sentence, he quickly moved away from the others, running down the stairs, almost tripping on his feet. Trudy followed him, giving no explanation to the rest of the team who just exchanged a worried look.
“Where's she?” he asked hurriedly and Trudy pointed him to the room you were in.
He burst into the room and breathed a sigh of relief when she saw you sitting on the sofa but immediately worrying when he saw the state you were in. Trudy closed the door behind him, leaving you two alone and not giving any other cops a chance to snoop.
You had your elbows resting on your knees, your hands on your face as your leg bounced up and down almost obsessively.
“Baby!”.
His voice made you snap your head to him and before you knew it, you were rushing into his arms, squeezing yours around his torso with so much force you were almost afraid he’d disappear.
Jay was surprised for a moment but immediately returned that hug, wrapping his arms around your shoulders and hugging you like he never did. He had no idea what had happened, but whatever it was he knew it was serious and that was enough to make his heart race.
“I'm here baby, I'm here. I'm not going anywhere. It's okay,” he whispered, placing a kiss on your head, stroking your hair. You cried in his arms, with relief because he was finally there with you.
His heart sank as he heard you cry like that, feeling helpless like never before. You kept shaking and, without even knowing anything, Jay promised himself whoever had done this to you was a dead person.
“Baby you're making me worry to death. Please talk to me,” his voice coming out desperately. You broke away from his embrace, but still remained very close to him. “Darling, look at me. What happened?”.
His hands rested on your face and inevitably on the bruised cheek. You winched in pain and this didn't escape Jay, who was on the verge of losing his mind by then. “Y/N. Look at me,” he urged and you did as he said, lifting your head and making eye contact with him.
His breath caught in his chest as his gaze fell on the clear purple bruise on your cheek.
“What the fuck? Y/N…” he stammered, an incredulous and horrified look on his face as he looked at you. He took his hand away from your wounded cheek, placing two fingers under your chin and turning your head to inspect it better. “Shit baby… What happened? Who did this to you?”.
His heart was pounding in his chest and as his eyes looked at every single inch of that bruise that lined your cheek, every single cell in his body lit up with rage. Seeing the desperation on your face, the look of pure terror with which you were looking at him, the way your eyes were so full of tears, Jay felt as if he had stabbed and someone had twisted the knife over and over again.
“I-I… H-he…” you stammered meaninglessly, sobbing between words clearly still unable to speak.
“Oh baby come here,” he hugged you again, this time even harder than he had before. “My beautiful princess. It's okay, it's okay, you're safe now do you hear me? You're safe.” He tried to comfort you “I'm here now, I'm here. You’re not alone anymore and I will never let anyone hurt you again. You’re safe with me my love.”
“I-I was…” another sob “So… S-so scared…” you cried into his shirt, wetting it with your tears.
“I know, my baby, I know,” he whispered, placing lots of little kisses on your head. “I'm so sorry. It wasn't supposed to happen, not to you. But you're safe now, I'm here with you, you’re safe with me.” He kept repeating to you.
You both sat on the couch and he continued to hug you indefinitely, holding you and cradling you in his arms until you calmed down. “Sorry,” you muttered, your voice weak as you pulled away from his embrace, gesturing at his tear-stained t-shirt.
“Don’t even say it,” he replied. He raised his hand and stroked your hair, tucking it behind your ears as you kept your gaze on your hands. He was about to continue speaking when his eyes fell on the bruises on your arm, visible outside of your uniform.
His fingers lifted the sleeve to take a better look of the bruises on your skin. He immediately understood they were finger markers, a sign that someone had violently grabbed your arm.
“Oh darling,” he whispered, shattered at the sight of those horrible marks on your beautiful skin “What have they done to you?” His fingers caressed you gently, being careful not to hurt you further.
He was furious, like he had been a few other times in his life, and he still hadn't heard the story.
“Tell me what happened, please.”
You sighed and with still trembling voice, started talking. You told him about everything, about the roses, about the feeling of being followed, about the text, about the call and about the man who attacked you, the fact you already saw him for few seconds weeks prior, how he hit you and how you defended yourself.
“Why the hell didn't you tell me about it sooner?!” Jay snapped, when you finished speaking “This was never going to happen dammit! I would’ve killed that fucking son of a bitch.”
He leapt to his feet, running his hands over his face and pacing around the room. He didn't want to pick on you, it wasn't your fault and he knew it, but he was so damn angry, so angry you had to go through this, that he wasn't there to protect you.
His eyes landed on you noticing how yours quickly filled with tears again at his words and the tone of voice he used. “No, no, no baby, don't cry,” he rushed over to you, kneeling in front of you and wiping away the tears with his thumbs. “I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to blame you. It's not your fault, please don't cry.”
His hands rested on your knees as you looked at him with sad, broken eyes, making his heart break over and over again. “You’re right I should have told you about it…”
“No, baby, don't get this into your head okay? It's not your fault, I’m so sorry for snapping like that I’m just so fucking furious for what that piece of shit did to you. It’s his fault, he hurt you and make you go through all of this. I hate you had to go through this alone and I wasn’t there to help you,” He sighed “I knew something wasn't right, I should have…” Jay stopped his eyes suddenly widening as you looked at him confused.
“Oh my god, that's… That's what you wanted to tell me this morning, isn't it?”. You didn't answer, effectively giving him the answer he needed.
Jay scrambled to his feet again, as if he'd just been given an electric shock. “Fuck!” He tried to keep control but you jumped as he kicked a chair in anger before placing his hands on the table and bowing his head, his back towards you.
“Jay…” you mumbled, standing up and walking towards him. You placed a hand on his back even though he didn't move from that position.
“It's my fault, this…” he choked on his own words “If I had stopped and listened to you this morning… Shit… It shouldn't have happened… I’m so sorry…”
“Hey, hey, no baby,” you interrupted him “Don't be hypocritical and tell me to not blame me and then do the same.”
He turned his head to you and it broke your heart to see his eyes full of tears. “I was late Y/N… I… This happened to you because I didn't stop for five fucking minutes to listen to you!”.
“Jay, listen to me,” you spoke to him softly. You lightly pulled his arm, causing him to straighten his back. You cupped your hands over his face, stroking his cheeks. “It's that crazy bastard's fault okay? Not yours, not mine.”
“If something happened to you… God…”
“No. Let's not do this. No ifs and buts. I'm here and I'm fine, I was scared shitless, I'm still scared shitless, but I'll be fine. You’re here with me and you’re all I need baby. These are just bruises and they'll be gone in a couple days,” you croaked “You should’ve seen how he looked then.”
He sighed before letting out a chuckle though the tears, hugging you for the third time, his hand stroking your hair. “We'll get him okay? And I'll fucking make him pay for what he did to you.”
You and Jay went upstairs, not wanting to let you disappear from his sight for even a second, after reassuring Trudy and telling her what had happened. Needless to say, she threatened to kill the bastard herself if Jay didn't. The way he answered told you that there was no need and that he’d certainly sort it out.
“I'll get you some ice for the bruise,” Kim had offered. The rest of the team didn't take it quite well either and Voight promised you they’d catch the bastard who hurt you. You and Jay had been together for a long time and you were part of the group now, an attack on one of them was an attack on all of them.
“Thank you,” you thanked her with a warm smile, placing the bag of ice on your face. The cold sent a rush of shivers up your spine.
“Come on baby, let's go in the break room,” Jay had said, his hand resting on your lower back. However, your gaze fell on the white board on which various photos and sentences were hung.
At first you didn't notice, but when your eyes saw a particular photo, you did a double take, stopping in your tracks and lowering the hand that was holding the ice.
“Baby? Are you okay?” Jay immediately asked alarmed, then following the direction of your gaze. “Oh. That's the case we're investigating.”
The photo just on the blackboard wasn't clear enough, it was a frame taken from a surveillance video but you could distinguish the features of the man it portrayed.
You stopped breathing for a second and your mind retraced in those brief moments your aggression, still fresh and imprinted in your memory.
“Y/N?” Jay pressed, worried about your reaction as his hand caressed your back.
“It-it… Jay…” you breathed out “It's him…”
“What?!” Jay's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets and everyone in the unit couldn't mask their surprise.
“It was him… H-he attacked me… Oh god…”
Your hands start shaking again and you thanked that Jay was there to hold you or you would’ve probably collapsed on the floor.
Your eyes moved from that frame to the other hanging photos. There were four photos depicting four different women, more or less your age and similar in appearance to yours. Alongside these were other photos portraying instead what were unmistakably the victims’ bodies.
You were in complete shock.
What were the odds that the man stalking you was the same Jay was investigating on?
“C’mon let’s go,” Jay put his arm around your shoulders, leading you to the break room and closing the door behind him.
You weren't even crying. You were just completely shocked.
“Jay… He…” you stammered as if you were having trouble coordinating your thoughts. He put both of his hands on your shoulders.
“Baby, just breathe okay? Do it with me, take a deep breath.”
You shook yourself out of his grip, now in a panic. How could you calm down?
“He was… He would’ve killed me Jay, like… Like those women… Holy shit…” you continued to babble. You couldn't believe it. You understood that bastard was to be locked up somewhere, but you never, ever imagined he was a serial killer, that he’d done that before to those poor women. What if you didn't fight? What if he managed to overpower you?
Jay closed his hands into a fist, pressing his nails into his palms in an attempt to let out even a tiny bit of the anger, rage and fear he was feeling at the moment.
He didn't even want to imagine it, the thought was enough to make him sick. He didn't want to imagine what could happen to you. He run the risk of losing you forever without even realizing it.
Jay couldn't exist in a world where you weren't there. He couldn't even pass the idea of not having you next to him, the pain from this thought alone was unbearable and it was enough to make his heart shatter to pieces. Damn it, he asked you to marry him, you were his fiancée, his soon to be wife, the future mother of his children. You had to start a family together, buy a bigger house to raise your children and you’d live and grow old together, forever.
He couldn't accept some son of a bitch threatened to take you away from him, the most beautiful person he'd ever met, the love of his life, his anchor and his salvation.
“What happened to those women?” You asked, afraid to hear the answer.
“Baby…”
“No Jay, please, just… Just tell me. What happened to them?”.
Jay took a deep breath, knowing that telling you would only make you feel worse. “No, love. Listen to me now,” he walked over to you, placing a hand on your healthy cheek and stroking your skin with his thumb. “Don't torture yourself like this, it won't do you any good to know, please trust me. You were so brave and you managed to knock out that son of a bitch and now you're here with me, safe, so just think about this okay? I beg you. I don't even want to think about what happened to those poor women, I don't want to think something like that could’ve happened to you and I don't want you to think about it either.”
He was right. You didn't want to know, sometimes it was better to live in the unknown.
“I'm so proud of you,” he whispered, kissing your forehead as his fingers wiped away your tears with excruciating delicacy. “I would’ve died if anything had happened to you baby, I love you so, so fucking much. I couldn't have survived without you.”
“I love you so much Jay,” you too replied in a whisper before sharing a soft, sweet kiss, your nerves starting to finally calm down. “What happens now?”.
“You’ll stay here and we’ll continue to work non-stop until we catch that bastard.”
“Are you sure I can stay here?”.
“Is this even a question?” He looked at you as if you were an alien “Yes baby, of course you can. You have stay here. I need to know you're safe or I won't be able to think of anything else and I know nothing can happen to you if you’re here. If you need anything call me and I’ll be here okay? Try to get some rest, and put ice on your cheek.”
You nodded, knowing that even you wouldn't feel safe anywhere else but there in the district.
After sitting on the small sofa in the break room you eventually fell asleep, tired and worn out from the shift, the day's events and the lack of sleep from the previous night.
Jay and the rest of the team worked nonstop to try and locate the suspect whose name was still unknown. After learning you had hit his nose and you had probably broken it, they called the hospitals in the area and within a radius of about 20km – deducing he wouldn’t be so stupid to go to the hospital where you worked – with the hope that he’d go to get treated.
This hope turned out to be a reality when Kevin was told by a hospital just outside the city that there was a patient matching the description who was still there waiting to be treated for his broken nose.
When Jay went into the break room to warn you they'd found a lead, his heart skipping a beat seeing you asleep. Your head was resting on the back of the couch, your arms folded across your abdomen as your chest slowly rose and fell.
A sad smile spread across his face as he approached you with silent steps, his chest tightening at the sight of that horrible bruise on your cheek. As his eyes roamed on your body, he then noticed some scratches on your forearms and his stomach dropped again for the thousand time that night. He’d never forgive himself for not being able to help you, for failing to realize sooner what was happening, allowing someone to hurt you, he was hating himself for not being there to protect you.
He decided not to wake you up and he leaned over you, gently stroking your hair and tucking a strand behind your ear that had fallen in front of your face. He kissed your forehead, taking an extra second to savor the moment, grateful to still being able to do it.
“I love you so much my baby,” he whispered, “Everything will be okay, I promise you.”
After telling Trudy to stay by your side and never leave you alone, he headed towards the hospital where the suspect was supposed to be, his blood boiling with anger, his hands shaking with the frenzy of being able to have that son in his hands.
The stalker, however, after seeing the cops coming, didn't hesitate for a second to run away. Jay chased after him, determined not to let him get away.
“Chicago PD! Stop now!” Jay shouted as he quickly descended the emergency stairs and followed the man, skipping a few steps at a time in an attempt to reach him first. The fact the man was injured went to his advantage as Jay took the opportunity to jump on his back, causing both of them to fall heavily to the ground.
Jay's vision immediately blurred with anger.
He punched him in the face, using all the strength he had in his body to hurt him. “Son of a bitch!” He exclaimed through clenched teeth, punching him again and again. He didn't care about anything, he didn't care about the consequences there could be. He just wanted to see him suffer, to see him writhe in pain and fear, just the way you did.
“You made a fucking mistake tonight,” Jay spat, standing up and grabbing him by the collar of his shirt, lifting him up like a sack of potatoes before slamming him heavily against the wall. The man coughed, letting out sounds of pain even if Jay couldn't care less. “You'll wish you’d never met her when I'm done with you, you worthless piece of shit.”
He hit him in the face with another punch, not caring about the blood splattered on him after each blow.
He didn't even realize he wasn't alone anymore. Voight was there and watched the scene without batting an eyelid. He deserved it, he deserved everything Jay would do to him, not just for you but also for those poor women who weren’t lucky enough to survive. He knew there was no way to stop him, even if he wanted to, especially since you were involved.
Jay hit the man's head against the wall, then pushing him to the ground. He approached him and without any mercy and without even acknowledging the man's suffering, he kicked him in the stomach.
“Fuck…” the man murmured weakly.
“Look at me you son of a bitch!” Jay cursed, grabbing him by the collar of his shirt again and punching him in the face. “You thought it was fucking fun to hurt my fiancée?!”.
Another strong punch.
“Answer me!” He shouted, knowing he’d not receive a response.
Jay had completely lost control.
His mind was only picturing your wounded and tear-stained face, your terrified expression, your eyes full of tears, the bruises on your arm, on your face, the scratches, the way you hugged him so tightly because of the terror you felt, the fear you must have felt in those weeks.
“You thought you’d get away with it huh?! Making my future wife's life a fucking hell?!” He growled again, kicking this time the man’s face. “Making her scared of her own fucking shadow?!”.
Another kick in the stomach.
He was about to kill him and he didn’t give a fuck.
He bent over the man who was then barely breathing. “Did you like putting your useless dirty hands on my girl, huh?” he hissed as his foot stepped on one of the man’s hand with so much force until he heard his screams and his bones cracking.
He didn't move anymore, now unconscious and covered in his own blood.
Voight intervened at that point, not even knowing if he was alive or not. “That's okay Jay, calm down now.” He placed his hands on his shoulders, pulling him away from the unconscious man. Jay was breathing heavily, as if he had just run a marathon, his angry eyes still focused on the bastard lying on the ground.
“Now get away from here. Go out from the emergency exit and drive back to your fiancée, you were always there with her okay? I’m sure she needs you now.” Voight had ordered him but Jay didn't respond at first. “Halstead.”
At that point Jay focused his gaze on his boss and nodded feebly, casting one last glance at the stalker before walking away.
He wiped his face and hands with a handkerchief he had found in the car, trying to ignore the pain in his swelled hand, his knuckles red.
He never regretted what he did.
He had always condemned the brutal ways some cops used, like his own boss did sometimes, but in that moment he didn't stop to think about how he’d not hesitate even a second to do it again and make suffer anyone who’d hurt you.
When it came to you he’d lose his mind, his judgment clouded. You were the most important person in his life, the most precious of treasures, and he’d protect you with his own life if he could, if it meant keep you safe forever. It may have seemed an exaggeration, it may have seemed crazy, but he didn't care, God, he would’ve burn the entire city to the ground if it meant protecting you.
And as he drove to the district, eager to see you again, only one thought ran through his mind: how much he regretted not making that piece of shit suffer more.

Tumblr media
The weekends were like a sacred oasis, the only time you and Will really had time to just… be. You could sleep in, go out. Personally the two of you were fond of going for runs in the morning before getting a nice breakfast.
After that was usually just whatever one or the other of you wanted to do, if anything and then you ended up back at home. Today, after going to the fair that was being held in the park, you and Will got home, the latter of you two falling onto the couch.
“I can’t believe you spent $30 on a plushie.” The red haired man shook his head slightly, tucking his hands behind his head as he looked up at you.
In your defense it was a big plushie and you really liked sharks so it was worth it. Teasingly you tossed the big plushie at him, hitting him in the chest. “First of all, his name is Winston. Second of all, I love him,” You pointed at Will as he looked over the grey shark.
With a smile he held his hands up in defeat, “Alright, alright. If you love Winston so do I,” he gave the stuffed animal a tight hug before gently placing it on the back of the couch, holding his arms open to you. “But I love you more so come here.”
His use of tight grabby hands made you laugh, letting your hair fall loose before moving to lay on his. “I’m here, now what,” You teased, poking his side lightly.
He did the same thing back, a smile breaking onto his face when you squirmed. “Now I hold onto you,” Will mumbled, running his hand up your back.
“Why don’t we go lay down in beeed, it’ll be comfier,” you questioned, pressing a soft kiss to his chest. Will hummed faintly, tracing imaginary details across your clothed back.
He glanced down, a smile on his face, “Cause this is comfortable. And you get to be on me,” He shrugged faintly. If there was one thing he loved it was the weight of you on top of him.
Not in a sexual way, but something about having your chest directly on his and feeling your heart against him just made him feel content.
And sure you could do that in bed, could lay on him but that would inevitably end with one of you guys on the other side of the bed since neither of you stayed still while sleeping.
So the couch was his way of making sure you stayed on him. “Fine, you’re lucky you make a good pillow,” You mumble, jokingly annoyed as you placed your head to his chest.
Something about hearing it beat made your face warm, adoring the closeness you had to him. “I like being your pillow,” Will murmured, his eyes closed as he continued to move his hand across your back.
Your own hand went under your chin, tucking into yourself as Will’s other arm lightly went to your side, hand just barely pressing to your side.
His hands on you brought you immense comfort, like the love he had for you was being transferred through his pores and into you. And maybe it was.
If Will Halstead was one thing, it was head over heels in love. And the cuddling at certified nap time was enough proof of that. You didn’t even mind that he fell asleep first. Everytime.
It gave you the opportunity to gaze at him without him realizing and without him making some sort of joke when he caught the look you were giving him.
And Will was peaceful when he slept. His eyelashes flush to his face, a relaxed look and aura coming from his entire body. Everything felt so calm. And the steady heartbeat and breaths of the man you adored always managed to lull you to sleep as well.
Just waiting to wake up later and have dinner together.

When it came to being in control, Will knew exactly where and when it was his turn to take the lead. For example, the hospital, he was your boss after all which meant you had to do whatever he told you and listen to his orders, but when it came to the bedroom? Well, let’s just say that Will knew his place the second he crossed over that threshold.
Will’s back hit the mattress with a soft thud, a deep groan rattling up his chest as he felt the weight of your body as you climbed on top of him, clad his favourite slinky negligee which you could tell was his favourite given how hard he was as he twitched beneath you, feeling the wetness of your arousal coating his skin. He wasn’t used to being the submissive one when it came to sex but there was just something about the way you took control that made him want to roll over and give himself up to you completely.
“I didn’t like the way you ordered me around today.” You said seductively, grabbing his discarded belt from beside him and slowly trailing it across his chest, the coldness of the buckle sending a fierce shiver down his spine.
“Well I am your boss.” Will replied smugly with a grin on his face that you quickly wiped away when you ground yourself against him, spreading more of your wetness along his thick length that lay nestled between your legs, not inside you yet though which you knew was driving him crazy. “Fuck…”
“Keep talking and you’ll only make things worse for yourself.” You whispered into his ear as you leaned forward, trailing your tongue across his skin before tugging hard at his earlobe, eliciting a soft moan from Will as you paired it timely with another painstaking grind of your hips against him.
You pulled back from him, laughing quietly to yourself at the mere state you could put him in. The way he was so twitchy beneath you, his cock practically throbbing against your pussy and you could feel how he kept trying to push his hips up further, desperate to finally feel himself inside you after the day you’d spent teasing him.
He knew the second you cornered him in the stairwell and purposely pushed yourself against him was to make him hard, and it had worked too as he had to take a minute to cool off in the bathroom before he went back to work. And now, because of that, he was in such desperate need to feel you that he almost gave in and started begging, the one thing he knew you wanted from him but he also knew you weren’t going to make things easy for him after he’d ordered you to stand down in treating a patient, and therefore he wasn’t about to give him so easily either.
You grabbed his wrists, bringing his hands above his head where you bound them together with his belt, pulling it extra tight that it had his hips jerk upwards, his hardened cock brushing against your soaking entrance in a way that almost had you roll over for him to completely devour you instead, but you managed to control yourself. After all, this was your payback for today and you’d be damned if you let him have it so quickly.
“Is that too tight?” You asked quickly, not wanting to hurt him accidentally. He shook his head, pulling his hands apart just a little to show you he still had room to move them before you nodded in satisfaction, placing a rough kiss against his lips before you pulled back, rolling your hips once again before your hands slowly started to work their way up your thighs.
You could see the way Will’s eyes darkened, the muscles of his arms straining against the leather that bound his wrists as he watched your hands trail up your own body, gripping the edge material that covered your chest before you yanked it down, freeing your breasts which had Will swear under his breath.
He watched intensely as you began to play with your nipples, his cock throbbing fiercely beneath you as he tried desperately hard to feel you against him. You knew he loved touching you, loved feeling your hot skin beneath his large hands and you knew he loved your breasts most of all, loved feeling the soft mounds under his palms and those hardened buds between his fingers, which is why you could easily tell just how much not being able to touch you was driving him crazy.
“You’re such a fucking tease… I hate you.” Will said breathlessly, the smirk that rose on your face as you continued to caress your breasts almost making him want to break free of his belt and flip you over, but he happened to like this belt and he knew if he did, you’d only make things worse for him next time.
“Well if you hate me so much, I guess I better just get myself off instead as you couldn’t possibly want to do it for me.” You teased, pulling the negligee over your head so you were now fully naked, your hand going immediately to your throbbing clit before the material had even hit the floor.
“I know you mean that as a threat, but fuck baby… The thought of seeing you get yourself off on top of me makes me so fucking hard.” Will groaned, watching the hint of darkness to your own lust filled eyes as you drew gentle circles on your clit, making you moan softly as your knuckles brushed along his cock with each motion.
“As fun as it would be to have you watch me…” You exhaled, arching your back a little as you continued to pleasure yourself before you suddenly stopped, your now wet fingertips walking up his chest and over his chin, pushing open his mouth as they hooked behind his teeth. “I think I’d much rather have you do it for me.”
At that second, as Will was far too preoccupied with tasting you off your fingertips to notice anything else, you grabbed hold of his cock, settling the tip between your folds before you slowly began to sink down onto it, making him bite down on your fingers as low, breathy gasps left his lips as he filled you up completely.
The way you felt around him, the mere tightness of your pussy had him bust free of the belt that bound him, the leather strap hitting the floor with a thud as his hands came to grip your hips, fingers digging deep into your flesh and you lifted your hips, setting a slow pace as you slid back down until he was once again buried deep inside you.
“Couldn’t wait to get your hands on me could you?” You said around a moan as you began to pick up the pace, feeling the warmth of your own arousal as it spread across your inner thighs.
Will didn’t say anything, he literally couldn’t as the moment you started moving faster, his hands slinking around your back to hold your ass as they guided your motions, he became a moaning mess beneath you, unable to do anything but watch you. The way your breasts bounced with each movement had him biting down on his lip, his hips starting to thrust upwards, meeting your pace as you gripped the headboard, riding him in a way that made him want to boss you around at work more often if this was his punishment.
“Fuck… Will… Fuck, I’m gonna come.” You panted, his fingers pushing harder into the flesh of your ass as you felt that pressure deep inside you building, ready to burst with each thrust of his cock against your sweet spot.
“Come for me baby.” Will groaned, angling his hips just right that with one last, well-synced thrust of his cock meeting the grind of your hips, his tip hit hard against that spot deep inside you, causing you to clench tightly around him, as you came hard, your legs tensing around his hips.
“Fuck…” You threw your head back, your body stilling as Will’s hold on you was the only thing keeping you moving as he fucked your through your orgasm, one that was so intense, so pleasure driven that you could see stars and feel the pure heat that coursed through your veins.
The way his name left your lips, so breathy and so sweet sounding pushed him over his own edge, his eyes glued to you, beads of sweat beginning to roll down the valley of your breasts as they rose rapidly with each breath you took. The moment your head tilted forward again and your eyes met Will’s he knew he was done for.
He slammed your ass down hard against him, his warmth releasing inside you as your name left his lips in a deep, raspy groan, your hands landing atop his chests as you began to move your hips again, feeling him throbbing inside you as you milked every last drop from within him. You fell forwards, your bodies sticking together with sweat as you kissed him, his body still twitching beneath you as he came down from his mind blowing orgasm.
You pulled back, staring deep into his eyes as Will’s hand pushed back the hair that stuck to your forehead, threading his fingers through it before pulling you in for another quick kiss, neither of you having much air left in your lungs for anything longer.
“If that’s the punishment I get for ordering you around at work…” Will said breathlessly, a small smile creeping its way up into his face. “…then baby, you can bet that I’ll be doing it a hell of a lot more because that… was fucking incredible.”

Baby Doll Eyes
Tumblr media
For YN there was nothing better than just getting to hang out and enjoy the off time she had with some of her favorite people. So, when her best friend, Will, called her to come over and hang out with him and his brother, she was more than willing to do so. YN and Jay were lounging about on some lawn chairs while Will was working his magic with the grill making, what YN called his most delicious creation, burgers. The three of them threw different stories about work drama and their college days. No stone was left unturned within their conversation.
“Hey Will, do you remember when I drug you out with me that one night during sophomore year and we crashed that frat party in Marty Tonks dorm?” YN asked with a chuckle and a mischievous glint in her eyes as she took a sip of her beer?
The curly-haired man leaned back with a laugh, looking back at her with a grin he said, “Oh god, Jay you would have loved to have been there for that. This girl had everyone’s jaws on the floor. We come in, uninvited, and she just glides over and takes, oh man what was the name of the guy you took that drink from?” The girl questioned shrugged at his question barely able to contain her laughter, so he continued. “Anyway, takes this guy’s drink, downs it and just walks away. He’s confused, I have no idea what in the world is going on and she’s living her best life within a crowd of people we have no association with. The girl had turned the place on its head.”
Jay leans up resting his elbows with an amused look on his face and raised eyebrow. “I find it hard to believe that our little, wonder woman over here would have the confidence, especially back then, to turn a frat house upside down like that. But you’re right, I would have loved to see it all play out like you say it did.”
YN couldn’t hold her laughter anymore as she said, “You totally missed out Jay. I was a totally different person back then. Would I ever do something like that now?” she paused for a moment to feign being in thought. “If I was being absolutely petty, then maybe. But on an everyday occasion like I used to, no. I was a wild child with not a care in the world. I’m fairly sure I was able to convince at least fifteen people at that party to change their majors that night.”
The younger Halstead brother laughed at her confession before taking a sip of his own beer. “That wouldn't be all that surprising, to be honest. From what I can remember after knowing you for so long is that you’ve always had a way with words. A way that Will and I can’t completely comprehend, but you sure are able to convince anybody to do anything without even trying.”
“Oh, YN knows that all she has to do is bat them big YEC eyes at me and I’ll instantly do whatever she wants me to do. I don’t even have to know what that thing is. I’m sold.” Will said with his back towards the other two as he flipped the burgers he had going.
“You’re a sucker for them eyes.” Jay said and leaned back in his chair.
Will nodded and pointed his spatula at his little brother. “So are you though.”
The younger brother raised his eyebrows at the statement. “YN, take this with no offense.” He started and looked over at her then back to his brother. “But you'd have to agree that she’s like a cute baby doll with big eyes that could stare straight into your soul, and I often think she does just that.”
Will and YN busted out with laughter as they heard what Jay had said.
“Are you saying I have creepy baby doll eyes?” she questioned.
Jay shook his head. “No. No. Not what I meant. It’s just, and everybody can agree with me on this, one look from you and we’re all goners. You don’t have to say anything. One look is all it takes.” he defended.
“Hate to say it, YN,” Will started as he began to plate up the burgers. “But little bro is right. You got a way of getting your way without even trying really.”
The YHC haired girl shook her head with a giggle. “Yeah, okay.”
“It’s true.” the two brothers said at the same time. They all let out a bit of laughter.
“Although I would love to continue this debate, even if at the end of it all she will still probably say we’re crazy. Burgers are ready and I'm starving after having to look at these beauties for the last ten minutes.” Will said as he headed back inside. “Let’s eat!”

Learning from the Best
This was originally requested by @ jayxupsteadx on wattpad on @ oneChicago2000 halstead sister imagines book. She asked me to help since I know a lot about hockey (and it's my favorite sport), and I got permission to just write it here. I hope you both like it!
Please remember to reblog and comment! I love hearing your thoughts!
Enjoy!
You don't really remember much about the early days of Jay's career, granted, you were only three at the time he began playing in the NHL and only two at the time he began playing in the AHL. Then, when you were three, your mom was getting sick, so he was home a lot more, but you didn't remember that since you were so young. The stuff you mostly remembered about that time was being in the hospital and one of your brothers taking you to get snacks and ice cream a lot of the time (which, was code for a grown-up conversation between your parents that you didn't need to be there for...but you never knew that).
Now that you were getting older, you were starting to understand that Jay played hockey. Not only that, but you were starting to understand the game itself. You didn't understand the little things like penalties and off-sides and icings and such, but you understood that each team tried to score on the other team to get a goal. And, if there was one thing your big brother, Jay, was good at, it was scoring goals.
Right now, you were sitting at the kitchen table with your brothers and Hailey and were waiting for Jay to come back with some cookies, which he had been telling you about all day. (Will had smacked him upside the head when he let this part of the plan slip because now you wouldn't stop bugging them about said cookies.)
"Hockey sticks?" you asked when Jay set a plate of cookies on the table and you quickly reached for one. "Why?"
"You know how I score a lot of goals, Y/N?" he asked and you began nibbling on your cookie and then nodded your head in response to his question. "Well, there's this game and it's called the All-Star game. So, since I'm really good, I get to play in it in a couple days."
Your eyes immediately started to well with tears. Your birthday is soon! Jay Jay was gonna miss your birthday because he had to play in this stupid game because he scored lots and lots of goals!
"You're gonna miss my birthday! No!"
You jumped up from your chair and started running from the table, but Will had quick enough reflexes and jumped up after you and scooped you up.
You heard Hailey saying something about giving you the other cookie first, but you didn't care.
"Let me go!" you wailed.
"Jay's gonna get another cookie for you. Just, hang on," Will soothed.
"I'm not missing your birthday, kiddo. Just, hang on a second."
You wiped your eyes. "You're not?"
"Nope. Let me get you another cookie, okay?"
You nodded and Will continued to rub your back.
Jay quickly left the room and went to the kitchen and grabbed one of the Mickey Mouse cookies he had bought earlier in the day. Hailey pulled out her phone and began recording.
"Mickey?" you asked and took the cookie from him.
"Uh-huh," Will said.
"And where does Mickey live, Y/N?" Hailey asked.
You furrowed your eyebrows and looked at Will. "His Clubhouse?"
At this, Will laughed. "Close. But, where's Cinderella's Castle?"
"Disney World!"
"And where does Mickey live?"
"His Clubhouse."
Jay laughed. "Good idea, Hails. But I think we have to spell it out for her."
"You can do the honors," Hailey told her husband. "After all, we're only going there because the All-Star Game is in Florida this year."
Last year, Jay had been nominated to go to the All-Star Game. But, since it was your fifth birthday and your first birthday without your mom and dad (your dad had passed six months before from a heart attack that Will said was due to broken heart syndrome from your mom passing), he took the two-game suspension. He didn't go, opting to stay home in Chicago with you, Will, and Hailey instead of going to Vegas to play in the All-Star Game. Jay was fully prepared to do that again this year, but when the news came out that the game was going to be played in Sunrise, Florida, he, Will, and Hailey decided that the perfect birthday gift for you would be going to Disney World for the couple days leading up to the game.
"We're going to Disney World!" Jay told you.
Your jaw dropped in the cutest way ever and you turned to Will. "We're going to Disney World, Will!"
He laughed. "I know! What princesses do you wanna see?"
"Rapunzel! And Moana! And Jasmine and Cinderella and Elsa and Anna! And Goofy and Pluto!"
"How about you finish your cookies though because we have to wake up early tomorrow to go on the plane," Will told you.
"Yes, please! Can we watch movies on the plane?"
"We sure can!"
"Can I wear my Rapunzel dress?"
Jay and Will looked at Hailey. After all, she was the one who did all your packing since Jay had been busy trying to coordinate the timing of going to Disney along with the game and all the press and everything else that came with it.
"It's all packed, don't you worry," Hailey reassured. "Should we eat your cookies on the couch while we watch Tangled?"
You nodded and Will set you down you grabbed your hockey stick cookie to go along with your Mickey Mouse cookie and then all of you made your way to the living room and Jay started to get the movie set up. Periodically throughout the movie, you'd say, "we're going to Disney!" Or "I get to see Rapunzel and Pascal and Flynn Rider!" Hailey, Jay, and Will could only smile at your excitement to go to the most magical place on earth.
***
The first night you were at Disney was pretty uneventful. You had to be up at four in the morning for an early flight, and once you got halfway through Moana, you were asleep with your head leaning against Will. So, when you got to the hotel, the adults decided it was best to just rent a movie on on-demand and let you rest for a little bit or else they'd have one grouchy almost-six-year-old on their hands. After that, they took you to Disney Springs (formerly, and what Jay and Will called it, Downtown Disney) where the four of you got dinner and then shopped around for Mickey ears to wear to Magic Kingdom tomorrow and other souvenirs. (You and Hailey got matching Mickey Ears and you got a fancy caramel apple that Will said he'd cut up for you to eat back at the hotel because you'd make a mess if you tried to eat it off the stick).
Now, it was the day you were finally going to Magic Kingdom! You were wearing your Rapunzel dress and Hailey had put your hair in a braid down your back and had put some decorative flowers in the braid so that you could be just like Rapunzel! You put on your Mickey ears and ate breakfast at the restaurant on the same Disney grounds where your hotel was and then you took the shuttle to Magic Kingdom.
"Where to first, kiddo?" Jay asked once you had gotten through security and into the park. "And, remember, you can't go running off."
"I know! Can we go to Cinderella's castle? Please?"
And that is how you continued the day. You started off at the castle and got some cute family photos (and Jay signed one or two autographs) and then went from there to ride the rides. You were too small for rollercoasters, so everyone did more kid-friendly rides that day.
Later that night, since you were on the Disney grounds, you got access to magic hours, where Magic Kingdom was open until 3 am for those who were staying at hotels located on the Disney grounds. So, Will offered to look after you when you got back to the hotel around 9 that night and Hailey and Jay stayed until you fell asleep and then they left to go ride all the rollercoasters.
Will was okay with this arrangement because the next day, you got a surprise to go to the Bippidy Boppidy Boutique. It was your birthday present because you wouldn't be able to go on your actual birthday because the All-Star Game was on your birthday. Hailey took you there where you got your makeup done and looked like an absolute princess and Will and Jay used this time to go ride Mission Space and Space Mountain.
And, the next day when you had to wake up early and go to a different hotel after eating more Mickey waffles and leaving Disney, you still had some of the silver glitter in your hair. And, Jay reposted a video that Hailey had posted of you at the Bippidy Boppidy Boutique that made all hockey fans gush at your cuteness. Jay hadn't expected it, but that same video would be brought up in an interview later in the day at a presser he had to attend...which was why you had to leave Disney earlier than anyone would have liked.
And for the family skate the day after that (the same day as the skills competition), well, the Halsteads still had a couple of tricks up their sleeves.
***
"Hey, man," Jonathan Toews said and gave Jay a bro hug before they sat down to do pressers the next day. "Y/N like Disney?"
"Absolutely loved it," Jay answered as pulled the mic closer to him so that he'd be set up before the media came in and started asking questions. "She was exhausted by the end of it, though. Slept like a rock."
"Oh, I bet. Ten bucks says that they're gonna ask you about it."
Jay scoffed. "I'm not stupid enough to bet against that. You know they'll ask. They're always nosy as hell."
"Smart man. No wonder you landed a cop."
"Fuck off," Jay laughed.
A minute later, the journalists and reporters started filing in and Jay put on his professional facade.
The first questions were the standard All-Star Game questions: who are you most excited to play with, what skills are you most excited to compete in/watch, etc. Then, there were some contract questions. And then, they asked a couple of players about how they liked the Florida weather. They asked Jay this question and he thought that was the end of that journalist talking, but then he continued.
"There were some pictures going around social media of you at Disney World. Didn't know you had a daughter. We knew you were married but—"
"Hey!" Toews yelled.
At the same time, Jay started to speak. "I don't." He shot a look to Jonathan, a look that he had seen many a time in games. It was a look that meant I got this. "First of all, she's not my daughter, she's my little sister. Which, you would know if you even did an ounce of research before coming in here and bringing up my family. Second of all, if didn't bother to do any research before interviewing me, I guess, I'll tell you myself."
Toews opened his mouth to speak but thought better of it. He didn't need to be on the news for cussing out a journalist, even if it was on behalf of his best friend and his best friend's family.
"Sorry if you guys are on a time crunch. You can blame him because this might get long." Jay knew he might be branded as one of the NHL's newest assholes for that comment, but he didn't care. He looked around the room and everyone was giving him their full attention, even the other players in the room. "I played junior throughout high school. My older brother, Will, did too up until his junior year. He decided he wanted to be a doctor more than he wanted to play hockey professionally, so he quit. I obviously kept going. I got drafted, played in the AHL, and then my mom got sick. She, uh, she died of cancer. My little sister was two at the time my mom was diagnosed and then the next year I started playing in the NHL and my mom was taking a turn for the worst, so I was home a lot more."
Jay took a deep breath because he started to feel himself getting choked up. No way in hell was he going to cry in a front of all these people. Toews gave his shoulder a quick squeeze.
"She passed away that year," Jay continued. "My sister was three. She doesn't really remember our mom. A year later, our dad passed away. Last year was my sister's first birthday without both her parents, and it was during the all-star break. So, I took the suspension so I could be home and she could have a semi-normal birthday. Me and my wife, Hailey, have full guardianship over her, so Hailey takes care of her most of the time I'm on the road. I wanted to be there for her birthday since it would be her first one where I'd be a parent-figure for her, and I wanted her to have a good memory of it.
"Now, I know you're gonna ask why I didn't take the suspension this year because you're a nosy—" Jay cut himself off and took a deep breath. He was going to call the guy a nosy prick but refrained from doing so. "You're nosy and I get it; it's your job to be nosy. But, I didn't take the suspension because we figured we'd take a little trip to Disney World for her birthday since the game's in Florida this year.
"So, no, she's not my daughter; she's my sister. And, you would've known this if you even bothered to do some research or God forbid looked at my social media."
Then, Jay stood up and promptly left the room. He could see the headlines now.
NHL Superstar Jay Halstead Storms out of Press Conference
But, he didn't care. And, he honestly thought he handled that quite well compared to what he could have said. He walked out to the parking lot and to his car. He knew he'd be getting texts from his fellow all-star teammates and opponents along with his teammates on the Blackhawks when they heard the news. Hell, even management might contact him for a statement. He hoped they wouldn't, but right now, he didn't really care. At that moment, Jay just wanted to go back to the hotel and spend the day with his family because he had promised you earlier before he left for the presser that he'd be back in time to go swimming with you at the hotel pool before dinner, and he'd be damned if he broke that promise because he was dealing with calls from everyone.
***
"Alright, how about you go get a drink, kiddo?" Jay suggested after he had launched you off his shoulders for the umpteenth time that afternoon.
"But, I'm not thirsty. I wanna keep playing!" you argued.
"And we know that," Will said, quickly throwing himself into the conversation. "You can keep playing after you get a drink. And, I need one too. How about me and you go to the vending machine?"
"Can I get the blue juice?" you asked excitedly.
"If they have blue Gatorade, yes, you can get it," Will confirmed.
"Okay!" Then, you scrambled out of the pool and over to where Hailey reading her book to start toweling off.
"You have cash on you or something?" Jay asked as the two brothers took their time getting out of the pool.
"Brought my wallet because it has insurance info. If something happens to Y/N when she's swimming, the last thing we need to be worrying about in the hospital is insurance because there is no way we'd remember to run to the room and grab it if we got rushed to the hospital."
Jay shook his head. "You can take the doc out of the hospital, but you can't take the doc out of the man."
"Not sure that's how you say it, but okay."
"Will!" you yelled.
"I'm coming, I'm coming," Will said, louder this time so that you could hear him. He then lowered his voice and turned his attention back to Jay. "Whatever's going on, you need to tell me or Hailey."
"What? How'd you know something's going on?"
"I didn't. You just had that look on your face like when you lost a playoff game. Figured something was off."
"You sneaky son of a--"
"Little ears, Jay!" Hailey yelled to him and Jay quickly shut his mouth.
Then, Will slipped on his slides and dried off and you slipped on your flip-flops and wrapped your towel tighter around you. Will slipped on his shorts and grabbed his wallet and then the two of you left the pool area, not without Will shooting a stern look at Jay.
"Everything okay?" Hailey asked as Jay toweled off and then sat down next to her. "You and Will took your sweet time coming over here."
Jay sighed. He should've known his wife would pick up on something like that; she interrogates criminals in Chicago after all.
"There might be some uh, not-so-flattering headlines about me from that presser today," Jay admitted.
"Not so flattering how?"
"I sort of chewed out a journalist...politely, though."
"How do you politely chew out a journalist, Jay?"
He sighed. "To be fair, he insinuated that I had a secret daughter because of the pictures he saw on social media of us at Disney World...and I kinda launched into our whole history with that. I didn't say Y/N's name, though."
That was one thing he, Will, and Hailey agreed on: they don't mention her name at pressers because there's weirdos in the world. And, when Jay posted things of you, he covered your face with an emoji since he had millions more followers than Hailey and Will had.
Then, Jay explained more in detail about what happened...and how he ultimately stormed out, which would likely be what all the headlines would focus on.
At the end of this, Hailey was smiling.
Jay looked at her with the most confused look on his face. "You're not mad?"
"No I'm not mad," she answered and then leaned closer to him and pushed his wet hair back from his face. "I wish I would've had someone like you growing up. You're a good dad, Jay."
"But I'm not her—"
"You and Will are the only father figures she knows. As far as I'm concerned, you're her dad. Maybe not by name, but in her heart."
Hailey could see the tears welling up in his eyes and he quickly blinked them away. "If that's true, then you're her mom in her heart, too."
"Jay..."
Then, the door to the pool area opened and you bolted inside, holding your blue Gatorade.
"No running!" Jay and Hailey in unison and then looked at each other while Will grabbed your hand to make you walk slower.
"Shit, maybe we're more parents than we thought," Jay laughed.
A few seconds later, you were next to Jay. "Will said you should throw Hailey in the pool next!"
"I was kidding!" Will tried to argue, but it was too late. Jay had already grabbed Hailey and was pulling her over to the edge of the pool, their previous conversation now already forgotten.
***
"What did I just say, missy?" Hailey asked sternly the next morning.
"No jumping on the bed," you said sadly and sat down.
"Exactly. No more jumping on the bed or else you don't get your surprise."
"A surprise! What is it?" you asked and quickly jumped off the bed and ran towards Hailey.
"It's a surprise, silly! I can't tell you."
"Please, Hailey! Please!"
"No can do, kiddo. You're just gonna have to wait until we go to where Jay Jay needs to go today."
"Will said we're just taking pictures, but that's no fun."
"We'll take some pictures, but that's not all we're doing. You'll have fun. I promise."
Then, Will came back in the hotel room since he had been at the gym getting a workout in.
"Will! Hailey said I get a surprise! What is it?" you asked and ran towards him. But, then you crinkled your nose in disgust and backed away. "You're stinky."
"Well, good morning to you, too, Y/N. And, if I tell you about the surprise, it wouldn't be a surprise now, would it?"
"No."
"My brother in the shower?" Will asked.
"Yup," Hailey confirmed.
"Hmm. Surprised you didn't jump in there—"
"Will! Little ears!" Hailey yelled before he could finish. "God, it's a wonder you two haven't corrupted her yet."
"Yeah, yeah," Will sassed. Then, he began pounding on the bathroom door. "Jay! Hurry up! Y/N wants her surprise!"
"Almost done!" Jay yelled back.
A couple minutes later, Jay came out of the bathroom wearing his jeans and one of the custom jerseys that they had made that said J. Halstead on the back and said All-Star Game plus the year outlined by a pair of Mickey ears on the front. The matching jerseys for all four of you were Hailey's idea.
"About time!" Will exclaimed. "Next time, we're getting at least two rooms. Lord knows you can afford it."
Jay rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah."
"You got the skates and helmet?" Will whispered when he passed Jay.
"In my bag in the rental," Jay confirmed.
***
"Toes!" you yelled at Jonathan Toews as you walked into the arena and spotted one of your brother's best friends and teammates.
"Y/N!" he yelled back and then walked up to you. "I heard somebody go to go to Disney World."
"Me! And the princesses did my makeup and hair really pretty!"
"I saw! Jay showed me a picture. Did you ride any rollercoasters?"
You quickly shook your head. "They're scary! And Will said I was too small to go on 'em anyway. He said I might get hurt."
"Well, I'm glad you had fun." He turned his attention to Jay. "Everything's set up. Hubs said he'll lead you to the practice rink." (Hubs being Jonathan Huberdeau who played for the Florida Panthers, which meant that this was his home arena, so he knew where everything was).
"Sounds good, thanks, man. After an hour, maybe two if she needs more time, we'll come back to the regular rink. I just don't want her falling with everyone around and then getting run over."
Toews laughed. "Understandable. Bye, Y/N! Have fun!"
"Bye, Toes!"
Once you got into the arena, you were quickly met by a guy who Jay called Hubs. He said hi to you and then started leading you somewhere. You just held on to Jay's hand and looked around the arena. It looked a little different than the one you normally saw Jay play in, but it was somewhat the same.
A couple of minutes later, you were sitting on a bench in the locker room and Jay set his hockey bag down. "We gonna watch you skate?" you asked.
"Even better," Jay told you.
"I get ice cream?"
"No," Jay laughed. "But maybe later if you're good." He paused. "You know how me, Will, and Hailey can all skate?"
"Uh-huh. But you're the best."
Jay watched Will roll his eyes but ignored him. "Now it's your turn to learn how."
You furrowed your little eyebrows. "But I don't have skates."
Then, Jay pulled a pair of pink hockey skates out of his bag, the perfect size for your little almost-six-year-old feet. "What about these?"
You gasped. "They're pink!"
"They are. Now, let me tie them and put on your helmet, and then we can teach you how to skate, hmm?"
***
Jay held your hand as you walked on the black mats and towards the ice. Will had dug out his medical bag from when he was the team doctor for Blackhawks during that year when Jay was a Blackhawk before your dad died. Then, he got a job in ED at Med so that he wouldn't be traveling all the time. One of them needed to be home consistently to take care of you after all. And, at this time, Jay and Hailey were only dating; they weren't married yet. He knew that you couldn't be too careful when learning how to skate, so despite how stupid he might look, he'd be skating around with a backpack on just in case something happened. And Hailey was behind you filming you and Jay walking towards the ice.
"I'm gonna go on first and then you're gonna grab my hands and I'm gonna help you on so you don't fall, okay?" Jay told you.
You nodded and Will grabbed onto your arm so that you wouldn't fall when Jay let go of your hand since it was your first time in skates.
Jay got on the ice and then spun around to face you. "Hold out your hands, kiddo."
"What- what if I fall?" you asked, starting to get nervous.
"Will's not gonna let go until I have your hands. And, he's got his doctor bag with him."
"Jay won't let you fall, Y/N," Will reassured. "But, if you do fall, I'll fix you right up."
"You promise?"
"I promise."
"Okay..."
Then, you reached your hands out and Jay grabbed them. You took a few choppy steps and then you were on the ice.
"What do I do now?" you asked.
"First, we're gonna move over so Hailey and Will can come on the ice. You just hold onto me, okay?"
You nodded and then Jay started skating backward, taking you with him.
"Can you pick up one foot?" Jay asked.
You shook your head. "What if I fall? I don't wanna fall!"
"You won't fall. And if you start to, I'll pull you right back up."
"You promise?"
"I promise," Jay confirmed.
"Okay..." You tentatively picked up your left foot half an inch off the ice. "I did it!" you exclaimed.
"Good job!" Jay praised while Will hooted and hollered next to him, also skating backward and facing you. "Now try the other foot."
You did so and for the next two laps, Jay skated slowly backward, pulling you with him while you kept picking up and putting down each foot, getting used to the movement. Then, he told you that he was going to let go of your left hand and you were going to do the same thing. It was a little harder, but Jay kept a tight grip on your right hand. When you stumbled a couple of times, he quickly grabbed your left hand and pulled you up, skated a few strides holding both your hands and then only held your right hand once more. You repeated that for another two laps.
Then, Jay slowly came to a stop near the benches and instructed you to hold on to the boards. You did so and then faced him.
"Watch my feet, okay?" Jay instructed.
"Uh-huh."
You continued holding on to the boards and looked down at his feet.
"I want you to pick up one foot and then push side to the side with one skate. Like this." He picked up his left foot off the ice and then pushed side to side on the ice with his right foot. He did that a few times and then switched to having his right foot on the ground and his left skate pushing from side to side.
Then, you did what Jay was doing and did so too many times to count. You started to fall the first couple of times, but Jay grabbed your arm to steady you each time and helped you pull yourself back up all the way using the boards.
"Now I want you to go back and forth," Jay said. "Right skate...left skate...right skate...left skate."
You started doing that as Jay said what skate to pick up. After doing that about five times, Jay was quiet and just kept doing the exercise with you.
Again, you stumbled a few times, but Jay made sure you didn't fall. Once he deemed you were good enough at that, he had Will hold onto your arm as you spun around. Then, Jay grabbed your hands again.
"I'm gonna skate backward and hold your hands and you're gonna do what we were just doing," Jay told you as he grabbed your hands.
Once Will deemed his grip on your arm was no longer needed, he let go.
"Right foot, left foot?" you asked.
"Right foot, left foot. Exactly," Jay confirmed.
Jay started skating as slowly as he possibly could, at what felt like a snail's pace, as you went and started doing what you called right foot left foot.
"I'm doing it!" you beamed.
After doing two laps of that--which took a little under twenty minutes--and many, many stumbles, Jay decided you were ready to skate without him.
Hailey saw the hesitation on your face and came up to whisper in her husband's ear.
"Go skate and fall down. Show her that even the pros fall down sometimes," she told him.
Jay smiled. That was a perfect idea.
"Y/N, I'm gonna have you take Hailey's hand and stand here. Me and Will are gonna race real quick, okay?"
"Okay!" you exclaimed.
Jay dropped one of your hands and Hailey took hold of it. Then, Jay let go of you completely while Will followed him over to the goal line.
"Why are we racing? Y/N looks good enough to skate on her own," Will inquired.
"Hailey suggested it might look good if I fall down so that she sees that even the pros fall. So, when we get to the other goal line, I'll slam on the brakes and purposely fall."
Will smiled and shook his head. "I think your wife's smarter than you, Jay."
"Oh, I know she's smarter than me."
The two got set and then Jay gave Hailey a thumbs up and she counted down from three and then they were off.
True to his word, Jay came to a hard stop at the opposite end of the ice--a routine stop for him and anyone else who played hockey--but then he purposely fell down.
He quickly got up and brushed himself off, but not without Hailey asking if he was okay and you gasping really loud. You didn't think Jay ever fell down when he skated!
"I'm fine!" he shouted back. Then, he skated back over to you and Hailey. "See, Y/N, even the pros fall down. Now, you wanna try skating by yourself? We'll be right here the whole time."
***
After doing one lap by yourself, with many falls, but still being excited that you could skate by yourself, the adults decided it was time to go out to the main rink where everyone else was skating. That way, it didn't look bad that Jay was missing the skate after yesterday's comments and there would be someone to take a picture of all four of you together.
When you got over there, Jay once again tied your skates for you and then helped you onto the ice.
"You ready?" Jay asked.
"Uh-huh," you said.
Then, Jay dropped your hand and you began to skate at a snail's pace. But, despite you not coming at the players or their families very fast, it was like the Red Sea was parting for you: anyone who was able to quickly skated out of the way of your path.
When you reached halfway around the rink you grabbed onto the boards of the benches and yawned.
"Tired?" Jay asked.
You shook your head, but then yawned again.
Then, you heard one of your brother's friends saying your name and looked to see Jonathan Toews skating toward you. He slowly stopped and then stooped down to your height.
"Looks like somebody learned how to skate. Give me five!"
You gave him a high five and then yawned again. Learning to skate was tiring!
"I think little miss ice princess needs a break," Hailey said. "I can take her to get a snack. You boys can stay."
Toews quickly shook his head. "You three stay. I can take Munchkin for a snack."
"You sure?" Jay asked.
"Absolutely. I've missed my favorite god kid."
Yes, that's right. Jonathan Toews was your godparent.
"Wanna go with Toes, kiddo?" Jay asked.
"Yeah!" Toes always bought you the best candy.
"Okay, be good."
Then, Toews took your hand and skated with you to the end of the rink and helped you off.
"Don't get her too hyped up on sugar!" Will yelled, which caused Toews to flip him off (without you seeing of course).
As you got older, you obviously didn't remember everything about this week. You remembered snippets of Disney World and learning to skate and going out for breakfast right before the skills competition since it was your birthday and cheering Jay on at the skills competition and the game and asking Will way too many questions about why a whistle was blown or why a player was doing this or that. But, it wasn't until you got older that you grasped how famous Jay actually was. As it turned out, you had learned how to skate from some of the best in the world. But, as a six-year-old, to you, this was just your brother and your brother's friends hanging out and playing a sport they loved and helping you learn to enjoy pieces of that game and learn to skate along the way. A/N: Sorry I haven't updated in a while! I've been going through a lot of stuff, so it's been hard for me to get motivated to write. But, thank you for reading! And, if you want to be added to my taglist, just let me know and I’ll be happy to add you!

Looking for a fanfic!
So it was on Fanfiction.net (I know that for sure), and it was a fic about Will and Jay as kids. And they went on a bike ride and Will stopped at a girl's house to talk to her and Jay wanted to keep biking and Will blew him off and told him to go. So he kept biking and he ended up by the train tracks.
Meanwhile Will goes home and his parents are concerned that Jay isn't with Will. So Pat Halstead and Will go out looking for Jay and find him near the tracks.
If anyone knows the name of the fic, could you send it to me ? I've been looking for it for a hot minute and really want to read it again and actually bookmark it!

The Truth Unfolds
Summary: Lyla learns that whatever happens in the dark, always comes to light.
TW: Angry Jay and Will, some cuss words but not many
Word Count: Around 2.6k
Note: Hi!! I know I haven’t posted in a bit but I didn’t really know what to post so yeahh.  This one was inspired by something that happened to my friend when we were in eighth grade but with a little bit of fiction to it.
Also Derek Shepherd is kinda mentioned but he’s not actually in it so I wouldn’t count this as a Grey’s fic but yeah.
Also also no offence to Dhar Mann, you’ll understand once you read.
Also also also if you haven’t you can read “Well, This Is Awkward” for some context but you don’t have to (it’s on my masterlist if you do want to)
Anyways, I hope you enjoy!! (:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“You got Rameses’ work done right?”  Mia asked Lyla as they exited the gym after the bell had rung.
“Yeah.  I don’t have any make-up work.  You?”
“I have a social studies assignment.”
“You better get that done then because Ms. York doesn’t mess around.”
“I know.  She’s scary as hell.”
“Hey guys.”  Kameron greeted as they walked down the stairs, pushing between the two and walking in the middle, “Who’s scary as hell?”
“Ms. York.  Mia has a social studies assignment that she hasn’t done yet.”
“Dude, if you don’t finish that in Crenshaw’s class you’re screwed.”  Kameron warned just as Terrance caught up to them.
“I can’t believe it’s already the end of the first quarter.”  Terrance commented as the four of them turned the corner.
“Yeah, me neither.”  Lyla replied, “It went by pretty fast.”
“I wonder what exploratory we’re gonna get next.”  Mia wondered, she and Lyla continuing to walk as Kameron and Terrance stopped at their lockers.
“Same.  I kind of want art or life skills.”
“You’ll like art.  It was pretty fun.”  Mia informed, the two of them stopping at their lockers.
“What did you guys do?”  Lyla inquired as she opened her locker and began grabbing what she needed for the next three classes.
“We did a few things, but my favorite was probably when we drew a portrait from a reference picture.”
     “What did you draw?”
     Mia grinned, “Derek Shepherd.”
Lyla rolled her eyes playfully as she closed her locker with her foot, “Of course you did.”
"He's like, so hot."  Mia gushed, Lyla nodding her head in agreement.
“Hey Terrance, what exploratory do you want next quarter?”  Lyla asked as Kameron and Terrance made their way over to the girls, their books for the next few hours in hand.
“I kind of want cooking.”  Terrance replied, the four of them making their way to their homeroom class.
“You’ll like it.”  Lyla stated, “I enjoyed it.”
“Which one do you want?”  Terrance asked Kameron as they entered their first class of the day, which was writing with Mrs. Crenshaw.
“I don’t know.”  Kameron started, then lowered his voice, “Not Crenshaw’s, that’s for sure.”
“I don’t think anyone wants Crenshaws.”  Terrance whispered.  Mrs. Crenshaw was very strict and the majority of the students in their middle school despised her.
“She’s actually not that bad.  I mean, once I started talking to her on a more personal level I actually began to like her.  She’s a really sweet lady.”
“Lyla, that’s because you’re the teacher’s pet.”  Mia jeered, Kameron and Terrance laughing.
     “Hey!  I am not!”
“Mhm.”  They all sat down as the bell rang, knowing Mrs. Crenshaw would get onto them for not being seated.
After a few moments, the principal’s voice came over the intercom, interrupting any conversation that had been going on.
Everyone stood up and recited the pledge of allegiance, sitting down and listening to the morning announcements once finished.
Mrs. Crenshaw scanned the classroom after the announcements ended, looking to see if anyone was missing.
“Good.  Everyone’s here.”  Mrs. Crenshaw said to herself, putting her findings in the computer.  She then looked up, “Who’s eating lunch?”
Most everyone raised their hands, signifying that they were eating a school lunch.
Mrs. Crenshaw quickly counted the hands, then proceeded to put that in the computer as well.
Once finished, she closed her laptop as a student walked up to her desk, a slip of paper in hand.
“Where do you want this?”  The student asked.
“You can put it right here.”  Mrs. Crenshaw said, pointing to a spot on her desk.  Mrs. Crenshaw turned her attention to the rest of the class as the student did as was told and walked back to his seat, “I hope everyone brought back their A.R. test scores with a parent signature, otherwise none of you will be getting free time today.”
A feeling of dread rushed over Lyla as other students walked up to Mrs. Crenshaw’s desk and put their slips in the pile, realizing she had forgotten all about it.
“Lyla, where’s yours?”  Mrs. Crenshaw questioned, seeing as she was the only one who hadn’t moved.
Lyla tried her hardest to think of an answer, Crenshaw staring her down in a way that scared her.
“I, uh, can I look in my locker?”  Lyla requested, hoping Mrs. Crenshaw wouldn’t give her a detention for ‘not being prepared’.
Mrs. Crenshaw sighed, seemingly annoyed, “Yes, go.  But hurry.”
Lyla nodded her head, getting out of her seat and exiting the classroom.
She made her way to her locker, opening it and frantically digging through her backpack in hopes of finding the paper.
She sighed a breath of relief once she found it, only to realize it wasn’t signed.
How could she be so stupid and forget to have Jay, Will, or even Hailey sign it?  Mrs. Crenshaw reminded them for weeks that if everyone brought it back signed they would all get free time.
Her mind began racing as she tried to come up with a solution, because there was no way in hell she’d be the one person to make everyone lose free time.
She knew she couldn’t call one of her brothers to get it signed, because Crenshaw would find out, and she was sure she’d get in trouble.
There had to be a way she could get Jay or Will’s signature on that paper without Jay or Will being there.
That’s when a lightbulb went off in her head.
She grabbed a sharpie from her pocket, made sure no one was looking, and wrote ‘Jay Halstead’ on the slip of paper.
She locked her locker and put the sharpie back in her pocket, quickly making her way back to Crenshaw’s room.
Lyla knew this could go one of two ways: Crenshaw would either realize Lyla had written Jay’s name herself, or she would fall for it.
Crenshaw was a very smart woman, but she made her students write only in cursive, and Lyla signed the paper in print.  Plus, Jay hadn’t signed anything for Lyla this school year, and since it was Crenshaw’s first year at Lyla’s middle school, there was a small chance she had seen Jay’s signature.
Lyla took a deep breath as she opened the door, the eyes of her peers falling on her as she entered.
“I found it.”  Lyla declared, making her way over to her teacher’s desk.
She handed the paper to Crenshaw, mentally crossing her fingers as she looked over the paper.
She felt her heart beating out of her chest, because Crenshaw was not the type of teacher you’d want to mess with.
She was almost as scary as Ms. York, which is saying something, because nobody dared to defy Ms. York.
“Good.”  Mrs. Crenshaw chimed in satisfaction, setting the piece of paper to the side along with the others.
Lyla turned on her heels, letting out a breath she didn’t even know she was holding as she made her way back to her desk, turning to face Mia, who was sitting on her right.
“Did you write the name on there?”  Mia inquired quietly, a grin spreading across her face.
     Lyla smirked, “Yep.”
“Dude!  I can’t believe you got away with that!”
     “Me neither.”
“Okay, what movie are we watching?”  Mrs. Crenshaw wondered as a student made her way over to the computer, logging onto her Disney+.
Lyla and Mia both got up, grabbing a beanbag from across the room, sitting down by Terrance and Kameron as the lights were turned off.
“Hey Lyla,”  Terrance started, a playful look on his face signifying he knew what she had done, “Whatever happens in the dark always comes to light.”
“Oh shut up, Dhar Mann.”  Lyla retorted, the four of them bursting into laughter.
The movie played as their laughter died down, Lyla smiling pridefully to herself as she settled into it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*A few weeks later*
“Ugh, Crenshaw’s narratives are so annoying.”  Mia complained, throwing herself down on Lyla’s bed.
Lyla laughed at seeing how dramatic Mia was being, “You’re not done yet?  I finished last night.”
Mia scoffed, “You really are a nerd, you know that?”
     “It’s better than being dumb.”
     “Hey!”
Lyla put her hands up, “I wasn’t calling you dumb!  I was just saying!”
     “Good.  You’re not wrong, though.”
Lyla put her hands down, taking a seat next to Mia, “What are you writing about?”
Mia smirked, “About the time we turned Dante’s clothes pink.”
Lyla laughed, “You know, that was the night I found out Jay and Hailey were together.”
     “Really?!”
Lyla nodded her head, “Just know those images have yet to get out of my head and it’s been almost a year now.”
Mia laughed, Lyla cringing at the memory.
Lyla spoke up once Mia calmed down, “Speaking of Jay, I wonder when he’s going to be back from parent-teacher conferences.”
“What time did he schedule?”  Mia inquired.
“I’m not sure actually.  Will might’ve gone with him but knowing his schedule he probably got called into work.”
     “Dante went Tuesday.”
“Honestly I’m glad they do parent-teacher conferences on Tuesdays and Thursdays because then we get Friday off.”
“What difference would it make if they did it on Wednesday?”
“I don’t know, but what I do know is that they don’t do it on Wednesdays.”
     “True true.”
Lyla looked at Mia’s bag, “Want me to help you with your narrative?”
“It’s due Monday but sure.”  Mia accepted, getting up and grabbing her bag before sitting back down on Lyla’s bed.
Mia opened her laptop, getting onto Google Docs and opening the paper.
She then gave her laptop to Lyla, the two of them looking over her paper together.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mia put her laptop back in her bag, she and Lyla having finished looking over the paper, Lyla trying to breathe as she was deep in a giggling fit.
“What is so funny?”  Mia inquired, because Lyla had been laughing for three straight minutes now.
Lyla held her stomach, “I-I don’t know!”
Mia giggled in amusement, which made Lyla laugh even harder.
After another two minutes, Lyla finally stopped laughing, trying her hardest to catch her breath.
“Are you good now?”  Mia asked.
“Yeah, I think so.”  Lyla stated, grabbing her water bottle off of her nightstand and taking a few large sips.
Mia sat down next to Lyla as she put her water bottle back on her nightstand, “You think Crenshaw will approve?”
“I think so, but knowing Crenshaw probably not.”  Lyla answered honestly, “I thought it was really good though.”
“Thanks.”  Mia paused for a moment before speaking up, “What did you write yours about?”
Lyla smirked, “I wrote about the time I crashed my bike into Jay’s truck when I was eight.”
Mia’s eyes widened, “You never told me this!”
“Okay so basically I was going a little fast and I tried to avoid the truck and failed.”  Lyla laughed,  “You wanna know the best part?  Jay was more worried about the damn truck then he was about me.”
Mia burst out laughing, Lyla laughing as well despite trying her hardest not to.
The girls jumped, their laughter coming to a halt as the door flew open, Jay standing in the doorway.
And boy, he did not look happy.
“Mia, time to go.”  Jay demanded, seemingly trying his hardest to keep his composure.
Mia got up, grabbing her bag as Lyla gave Jay a look of confusion and a bit of anger.
“Jay, what-”  Jay glared at Lyla angrily, Lyla stopping mid sentence.
Jay moved out of Mia’s way as she rushed out of the room, Jay looking out of the room and watching as she made her way down the stairs.
After a few moments, Lyla and Jay both heard the front door close, and Jay did not spare the lecture.
     “What the fuck Lyla?!”
     “What-”
    “You forged my signature?!”
Lyla’s eyes widened in realization, remembering the day in class that she had actually forgotten about.
     “I-”
“Yeah, you do realize what you did is illegal right?”
     “What, no!”
“If you did that on legal documents or something you could go to jail!  Jail, Lyla!”
     “I didn’t know!”
Jay scoffed, “Of course you didn’t.  Just like you didn’t see my truck when you wrecked your bike into it.”
     “Wait, you heard me?”
“Yeah.”  Jay chuckled, cracking a smile at the memory before going back to being angry, “But that’s not the point!  Why’d you forge my signature?”
“Wait, Lyla did what now?”  Will inquired from the hallway, having overheard their conversation.
Jay whipped his head around, “She forged my signature!”
Will’s demeanor immediately changed to one of anger, “What the hell Lyla!  You could go to jail!”
“I didn’t want to ruin everyone else’s chance of getting free time!  Plus it’s not like it was on a legal document anyway!”
Will sighed, crossing his arms and turning to look at Jay, “What’s her punishment?”
“Considering that she did something illegal and lied to her teacher in the process, I say she should be grounded for a month.”
“A month!  That’s unfair!”  Lyla protested, because in her opinion a month was way too long.
“Wanna make it two?”  Jay questioned, and that made Lyla shut up real quick.
“Exactly.”  He turned back to Will, “And she only gets her phone when walking to and from school, but that’s if we’re not driving her.”
“Yeah.”  Will agreed, “Also we should take away friends and she should go to either the district or Med after school.”
“I like that.  And she can do extra chores including the toilet downstairs.”
Lyla put her head in her hands, regretting her decision more than she had when Jay first mentioned it, because she hated cleaning toilets with a passion.
     “And all of our cars.”
“That’s a good one.  And every time she gives us a problem we can add an extra day.”
“Okay.  I think that’s good enough.”  Will turned his attention to Lyla, “Anything you want to add?”
Lyla lifted her head up, “Nope.”
     “Good.  I didn’t think so.”
Jay held his hand out, “Phone.”
Lyla got up, grabbing her phone and making her way over Jay.
She handed him her phone, which he turned off and put in his pocket.
“Thank you.  You know we’re doing this because we care about you, right?”
     “Sure.”  Lyla muttered sarcastically.
“I’m serious.  Trust me, I care about you more than I do my truck.”
Lyla and Jay cracked a smile, Will looking between the two of them in confusion but not saying anything.
“Do you have any homework?”  Jay asked after a moment, becoming serious again.
     Lyla sighed, “Just math.”
“Okay, then get to it.  Dinner will be done in an hour.”
Jay turned around and left the room, Will still standing in the doorway.
“What class did you do this in?”
     Lyla sighed, “Mrs. Crenshaw’s.”
“Okay.  Then you’re apologizing to her tomorrow.  Got it?”
     “Got it.”
Lyla began to make her way back to her desk as Will spoke up.
“Also, what did Jay’s truck have to do with anything?”
Lyla smirked, turning around to face her older brother, “He overheard Mia and I talking about the time I wrecked my bike into Jay’s GMC.”
Will chuckled, “That was pretty funny.  If you need any help with your math let me know.”
Lyla nodded her head, turning around and going to her desk as Will exited the room, softly shutting her door behind him.
“Dhar Mann was right.”  Lyla muttered to herself as she sat down, knowing that there was no way in hell she’d be forging a signature again.
