Thinks about Micolash and Laurence’s rivalry that never strays from the confines of academic snark or the occasional jab despite their shared ambition(and possibly also just accompanying a general friendship they could have had since they worked together at some point. this week has been hell so i will instead choose to think of the small joys.

today i made a sick baby laugh. last night my mom asked to make my lunch for work because it “makes me feel like you still need me.” on wednesday, i had pancakes for dinner. on tuesday, i got a 96% on a test i studied so hard for. on monday i survived a work evaluation without having a panic attack, and without needing an energy drink. on sunday, i had an oreo ice cream sandwich from 7/11.

this week has been hell. and i feel like i am wilting away. but at least i am in the position to wilt.

One of my drives went bad and also the fan in my computer which is revving maybe masked the sound of the drive trying to spin. This is 4 TB of work so not great. I had a number of things backed up in dropbox but this drive as the dropbox folder location. The drive was partially working and I was trying to move the dropbox folder but OF COURSE there was an absurd error that I couldn't move it because the files were open elsewhere (they were not). Now the drive isn't working at all and I expect it's probably gone forever.

I make backups lots of different places but it's hard to know how much work is lost forever. The reason I am posting this is because every time I depend on dropbox for something critical, it fails me. The free service is useful for many things but my recommendation is don't pay them every month like I do and then lose time, money and files. Their service simply has too many design flaws.

Meanwhile getting rid of the bad drive didn't stop the revving which must be the fan because the other drive is SSD.

There goes 14 hours of trying to fix things
