y’all over here saying that Nico would swear a lot? Like???
Maria Di Angelo would wash his mouth out with soap every time he said “damn” or even “stupid”. He’s learnt from his childhood that swearing is bad and should be punished.
Will, on the other hand, grew up with multiple older siblings, so actually, I think Will would have the dirty mouth out of the two.
Toward the end of 1x05, the song Impossible Germany by Wilco plays as Sydney divulges to Carmy how she lost Sheridan Road. This is the first time she opens up to him, or anyone at the restaurant, in a real way. As they strain the Demi together the lyrics, “this is what love is for, to be out of place” resound like a sonnet and it just hit me. It all became clear that something is brewing between them and I’ve been convinced ever since 😌.
My boy doesn’t get enough attention from the fandom which is weird to be honest. Like we normally go wild over every. Single. Clone. Ever. But i haven’t really seen anything for Wilco, like we know more about him than Soup or Toast clones. He actually exists unlike a certain 212th medic (I dont even know where Helix came from but i love him).
We know his rank, his name, his face, and how he dies. That’s it. Like what battalion was he in before Order 66? Did he serve under any known Jedi? Is he batchmates with anyone we know? I personally think he looks young, like fresh off Kamino young.
I dont know if it’s because he’s an antagonist (which i highly doubt) but he’s a scarily competent Captain, who cares about his men, and sticks to his morals. He deserves more recognition and didn’t deserve his death. The batch better drop Rampart back in prison or something I’ll be pissed if he walks.
I recently saw someone share this old ASP interview snippet where she talks about using music in TV and how she tries to make her song choices really say something supplementary or complimentary about what's going on on the screen, so on this current rewatch of mine, I've been trying to pay extra attention to the song choices and why they were made...
I knew this song was in GG - it's on my big beautiful comforting GG spotify playlist haha - but this is the first time I really noticed where it is. They play it in the background the first time Lane is perusing Sophie's music store - before she or we, the viewers, know the drums are her destiny.
"Oh, I sincerely miss those heavy metal bands
I used to go see on the landing in the summer
She fell in love with the drummer
She fell in love with the drummer
She fell in love
Shiny, shiny pants and bleached blond hair
A double kick drum by the river in the summer
She fell in love with the drummer
Another then another
She fell in love
I miss the innocence I've known
Playing KISS covers, beautiful and stoned
Unlock my body and move myself to dance
Moving warm liquid, flowing blowing glass
Classical music blasting masks the ringing in my ears"
I almost teared up because there's something so sweet about kind of reclaiming what feels on its surface like your standard love song where a man is reminiscing about a young, innocent girl falling in love with a musician and framing it to be about that young girl falling in love with HERSELF as the musician and the instrument itself... I imagine grown-up Lane hearing this song come on shuffle in her car and feeling nostalgic and wistful for her early band days and falling in love with music and her big dreams. idk I just felt very charmed by that and wanted to share! :')
This may have already been noticed and pointed out by someone much smarter than me, but I just realized something about The Bad Batch that solidifies my opinion on how amazing it is.
Okay so we all remember this gorgeous clone
This was Captain Wilco, who appeared in the episodes Spoils of War and Ruins of War from season 2.
He met his untimely end at the hands of rat bastard Rampart as follows:
Now get this, the name Wilco comes from the military and radio voice abbreviation for “will comply”. HMM?? The writers of this show sat down and thought, “oh what should we name the clone that will get killed for disobeying orders from a pompous monster?”
How about fucking WILL COMPLY. Like- Bro.
The absolute detail and thought they put. Because not only did his name contradict his actions, it truly symbolizes the clones were so much more than soldiers. Even after Order 66, they were people who knew good from bad and right from wrong, they didn’t live to just follows orders.
So yeah that was my little rant, sorry if someone else had already pointed this out but I had to share. RIP Captain Wilco you were too good for the galaxy and RamFart can rot in hell.
