I wanna know if anyone else with BPD (bc I think that's what's causing this) or anyone just mentally ill in general experiences this and if they know what's causing it bc I've yet to figure it out or how to not

I call them pain cycles

I am usually moderately to severely mentally uncomfortable with no known trigger to the point where I literally want to crawl out of my own skull/skin I'm so viscerally uncomfortable mentally

This mental discomfort can manifest as moderate to severe physical discomfort/pain as well

It can make me more snappy and causes me to be far more likely to spiral uncontrollably

It can make me very touch avoidant, even with the people who are usually allowed to touch me during breakdowns/when no one else is allowed to. Occasionally at the same time, I want touch so bad it hurts

Can and frequently does cause worse fatigue/exhaustion than normal

It can also worsen dissociation and identity confusion

Wtf is this, does anyone else go through this? It's not BPD negative splitting I don't think. I know what splits usually feel like, and this isn't it unless it's just some other awful brand of splitting that I didn't know about. Help lmao

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME?????????? and thus was verbal again

Replacing physical buttons and controls with touchscreens also means removing accessibility features. Physical buttons can be textured or have Braille and can be located by touch and don't need to be pressed with a bare finger. Touchscreens usually require precise taps and hand-eye coordination for the same task.

Many point-of-sale machines now are essentially just a smartphone with a card reader attached and the interface. The control layout can change at a moment's notice and there are no physical boundaries between buttons. With a keypad-style machine, the buttons are always in the same place and can be located by touch, especially since the middle button has a raised ridge on it.

Buttons can also be located by touch without activating them, which enables a "locate then press" style of interaction which is not possible on touchscreens, where even light touches will register as presses and the buttons must be located visually rather than by touch.

When elevator or door controls are replaced by touch screens, will existing accessibility features be preserved, or will some people no longer be able to use those controls?

Who is allowed to control the physical world, and who is making that decision?
