Shhhh! Keep your voice down and don't be loud. Whumpee is sleeping (or has just fallen asleep).
In Caretaker's arms after being rescued.
In a hospital bed in a recovery ward (or perhaps an ICU) after receiving care and treatment or perhaps emergency surgery.
On a bed in a room in a recovery house. Bonus points for the house are that the house belongs to the Caretaker and the bed BELONGS TO CARETAKER (AND CARETAKER'S BEDROOM)!!!!
In the passenger seat. Sleep on your back in the back seat or sleep in a half-sitting position after the seat is lowered slightly on the driver's side seat. Bonus points Caretaker puts on the jacket or coat to cover Whumpee.
On the sofa in front of the fireplace.
In a wheelchair while taking a leisurely walk.
On the couch on the terrace.
On the Caretaker's lap. Bonus points with the accompaniment of Caretaker's soft voice lulling Whumpee to sleep and caressing Whumpee's hair.
Sleep leaning on the Caretaker's shoulder when sitting side by side. Bonus points when they are in a discussion with the team members and Whumpee suddenly falls asleep exhausted.

Attention Whump Community!
Clogging disability tags is a massive problem that we need to address. Many tags, especially those surrounding permanent injuries, paralysis, vision loss and certain illnesses have become unusable due to being flooded with unrelated things. Yes, that includes your writing. Those tags are not for you. It's isolating, frustrating and depressing to try finding a community and other people who share your issues but all that comes up is whump, fandom shit, gifs, headcanons, etc.
I'm newly paralyzed. I have looked at many tags surrounding paralysis, trying to find support, a community, anything of people struggling with the same thing. Nothing. There's barely anything for us in the general disabilty tags. I am BEGGING you to understand and recognize how AWFUL it is.
So, I have a proposition. A tag you can and should use exclusively for disability content in whump writing. Not any other tag surrounding disability, lest you'll clog it up.
#disabled whumpee
It's tempting to use more specific tags, I get it. Due to being in the whump community myself I know #medical whump is already a tag. You have those tags. Use them. Don't use the disability tags. Don't clog up the few spaces us disabled people have.

the weary feverish whumpee aesthetic™
I love it when a whumpee is so weak that they:
are bedridden, much to their discomfort. They long to leave the bed, but cannot because they are too weak, and their legs shake at the thought of taking even a single step.
can't keep their eyes open. Their eyelids flutter but due to tiredness and too much light, they always close again. However, the whumpee has learned to rely on other senses, and is able to recognize the caretaker's voice or touch among a thousand others.
have to always lie down. They try to sit up, perhaps to eat something, but after a few minutes their head starts spinning and their body starts screaming because of the effort. Much to their chagrin, they have to force themselves back down or else they will likely pass out.
are not hungry. Their body can't handle even plain broth, making them queasy and dizzy. So they continue to refuse food, their only source of livelihood, and this obviously worsens their condition.
are too sensitive to touch. Their skin that seems to boil with fever, the bedsheets that rub down their limbs like sandpaper, the hair that sticks to their sweaty forehead, even the simple touch of the caretaker, a touch that is supposed to comfort them, is too much. They start to hate all these little things.
Please, feel free to add more.

Villain stared at Hero, who stood bleeding all over his expensive doormat. ‘Hey.’ The Hero croaked, swaying to a side. They tried for a charming smile, but there was blood in their teeth. ‘Mind if I…crash here for tonight?’
And then they did crash. Into the fucking floor.

Whumpee won't come out from under the bed, no matter how many times Caretaker whispers to them that they're safe now. Caretaker's real dog comes in the room out of curiosity. Whumpee softens at the sight of the dog because it's a pet like them. They end up befriending the dog and Caretaker walks in one day to see the two curled up at the edge of the bed. As much as Caretaker would prefer Whumpee to sleep at the top of the bed, they have to admit that it's adorable.

Whumpee is dying, nothing can stop it anymore. Instead of a goodbye - when Whumpee closes their eyes for the last time, when they take their final breaths, when their hand in Caretaker's goes limp - Caretaker whispers "good night."

Caretaker dealing with a more angry, combative whumpee. One that has destructive outbursts full of screaming and hyperventilating. All they can see is red. Angry at what whumper did to them. To the point Caretaker has to learn how to physically restrain them from further hurting themselves. Especially when whumpee turn their rage towards caretaker. They let a few swings hit but ultimately have to stop them. Holding their arms away from their body. Repeatedly apologizing as they do so.
Later cradling whumpee in their lap when they've finally exhausted themselves. Head tucked in caretaker's shoulder, hands clutching at their shirt. Begging caretaker to not leave them. 'I'll never leave you, just don't want you hurting yourself or me,' holding them just as tightly. 'You have every right to be angry at them. Whumper should've never laid a hand on you. You didn't deserve any of it.' Their voice was barely higher than a whisper.

Soft Caretaker & Tough Whumpee
Caretaker working up the courage to ask Whumpee if they want to have their bandages changed because they're too terrified of their ominous presence.
When Whumpee burns themselves and they don't feel the pain because of their high tolerance and it's Caretaker that freaks out and cries over it
When Caretaker is the one that has the dreadful nightmares of losing Whumpee
"What? Doesn't that hurt...?"
Reassuring Caretaker when they are so certain Whumpee has grown cold and distant after the torturous events
Whumpee that humours themselves using their trauma, and Caretaker growing uncomfortable
"Caretaker, this reminds me of when Whumper tried to brand me so I broke Whumper's wrist. It was hilarious, you should've seen their face."
When Whumpee is over the pain already and just wants to eat something while Caretaker is unable to comprehend how someone is so relaxed
Whumpee that has a revenge plan immediately after being freed and not afraid at all to go after their attacker(s)
Whumpee that slowly begins to act like their Whumper(s) and Caretaker is noticing it
Sitting alone together and Caretaker is too afraid of Whumpee to move a muscle
"I can do it myself." "But both your legs are broken." "I can still walk."
Slapping away needles and Caretaker just accepting that they won't listen
Punching, kicking, etc... when being touched out of reflex and then apologizing
"Yeah, Whumpee is a handful."

Content: PTSD/trauma, begging, recovery.
"Can't we stay up a little longer?" Whumpee whispered as they pulled their knees to their chest. Caretaker frowned at them, though not in a disproving manner. Just concerned. "Please?"
Careful to remain within Whumpee's line of sight, they shuffled towards them and put a hand on their shoulder. "Why don't you wanna go to sleep, Whumpee? You've done this every night since you got home."
They were silent for a moment, as if contemplating their answer. After a moment, however, tears welled in their eyes. "Whumper keeps showing up in my dreams. Telling me t'come home 'n' that they love me 'n' stuff. I just want it to stop, so... I haven't been sleeping."
They sniffled. "Please? Just a little longer?"
"Sure," Caretaker agreed after a slight hesitation. "A little longer, it is."

A Rope That Could Never Be Removed
Content: Scars, Death Scare, Shitty Teammate, Caretaker x Whumpee (maybe? idk)
@whumperofworlds told me to write this after I came up with some scraps of an idea, so here we are. I'm much better at concepts, ideas and frameworks than I am at actually writing so it's not great, but I hope it's still enjoyable.
~~~~~
Caretaker rushed into the cell, breathing heavily. Looking around frantically, they spotted Whumpee, a crumpled figure in the corner. Dropping to the floor, they cradled Whumpee’s limp, lifeless form in their arms.
“Hey, Whumpee? H-hey. You’re okay. We’ve-we’ve got you.”
Whumpee didn’t respond.
Brushing Whumpee’s ratty hair out of their face, Caretaker desperately tried to spot signs of life. Eyes flitting beneath their lids, a small twitch of their nose, anything. But there was nothing. Panicking, Caretaker shifted, moving the ropes wrapped around Whumpee’s neck to the side, and, far too easily, lifted Whumpee until their ear was against Whumpee’s chest.
“Nonononono. C’mon, c’mon. Please-please be okay. Please.”
There. There. A heartbeat. It was faint, almost imperceptible, but there. Whumpee was alive. Thank fuck. Sighing, Caretaker slumped back with relief, then gently caressed Whumpee’s cheek.
“Hey… Whumpee?”
Whumpee shifted slightly, then whimpered. Their eyes fluttered open, tiredly glancing around before locking onto Caretaker’s face. A tiny, weak smile slowly appeared on their grimy, bruised face. Whumpee tried to speak, but could only manage a sputtering, gravelly cough.
“Shh, shh. It’s okay. You’re okay, baby. Don’t speak, save your voice. We’re-we’re gonna get you out of here.” Caretaker murmured softly to Whumpee, reassuring them.
“Let’s-let’s get these ropes off you.”
As Caretaker struggled with Whumpee’s bonds, Teammate slinked into the cell.
“Hey hey. Whumper’s taken care of, Caretaker. We’re all clear.” they said, peering over Caretaker’s shoulder at Whumpee.
Caretaker had already managed to get the ropes off Whumpee’s neck and ankles, and were working at the bonds around their wrists.
Frowning, Teammate scoffed. “Really? Look at that. No injuries, no nothin’. We went through all this trouble to save someone that didn’t even bother fighting back? Not worth it.”
Caretaker blanched, horrified. “Stop it, Teammate.” As they worked the last of the rope off Whumpee’s wrists, they continued to admonish Teammate. “How could you say something like that? They’ve been through–”
Caretaker trailed off, and Teammate gasped, as the ropes fell off Whumpee’s wrists. As the two finally took a good look at Whumpee, they realised that Whumpee did fight back. The scars proved it.
From the old, smooth, rubbery scars that twined around their ankles to the gnarled, knotted scars that marred their forearms, it was clear Whumpee had fought. They had struggled against their restraints, tugging, pulling, twisting, trying to get the ropes off.
And now, even after they had been removed, everyone would forever be reminded of the horrors Whumpee had gone through. The scars on their ankles and wrists could be concealed, but the thick, silvery, twisted scar that encircled their neck was too visible. A permanent mark of Whumper’s possession.
A rope that could never be removed.
“You came back for me,” Whumpee whispered hoarsely, looking up at Caretaker as they hurriedly tried to untie the ropes that bound them. “You actually came back.”
Caretaker paused. Though the light was dim, Whumpee caught a slight shift in their face. “Did- did you think I wasn’t?”
Whumpee bit their tongue, not wanting to admit the ugly truth to Caretaker, but Caretaker understood nonetheless.
They started working at the rope again, silently. It wasn’t until the last cord fell that they cleared their throat. “Whumpee,” Caretaker said with the softest bit of indigence, “I will always come back for you.”
During the healing process, Whumpee needed many things, both for physical and mental healing. What are they?
Rest. Of course. There is no need to explain anymore. A good rest would restore Whumpee's body and mind after all his stress and suffering.
Calmness. From the environment and the people around Whumpee. Apart from the hospital, an isolation house far from the hustle and bustle of the chaotic city would be a good place to support Whumpee's recovery. Maybe a Caretaker's house would be better.
Medical. Medication is consumed to support healing (antibiotics, vitamins, painkillers, etc.). Medical equipment was used during the treatment and healing period. Professional medical personnel will care for Whumpee until he is completely healed.
Foods high in nutrition. Of course, it's easy to digest. Healthy food usually doesn't taste good, but it's the Caretaker's job to make the food able to whet Whumpee's appetite.
Water. There is no need to ask. Hydration is very important for Whumpee's body as it recovers.
Snack. Taking medicine every day definitely makes Whumpee bored. A little snack will help. The cookies, candy, or chocolate that Whumpee eats after swallowing the bitter medicine will make him smile.
Fresh air and morning sunshine. Many people say that fresh air and morning sunlight are also good medicine for recovery. Taking a breath and basking in the cool of the morning would be great for Whumpee.
Clean clothes. Replace every two times a day.
Bathe. Bathing in the morning and evening makes the body fresh and clean. Maybe at first, Caretaker won't immediately pour water but will wipe Whumpee's body with soapy water.
Straighten hair. Maybe cut it when Whumpee starts to get better. Apart from making it look fresher, Whumpee will also feel comfortable.
Comfort items. Plusies, stuffed animals, pillows, blankets, photos, scent, or anything else that can keep Whumpee calm and comfortable during the recovery period.
A change of scenery during recovery will also be helpful. Occasionally moving Whumpee to the living room, sitting him in the dining room, accompanying him on the terrace, or taking him to sit on the grass in the garden will make Whumpee feel better.
Light and pleasant conversation. Don't expect to be able to interrogate Whumpee during the recovery period if you don't want to be shouted at by Caretaker.
Touch. Whumpee is definitely touch-starved. A holding hand, a caress on the cheek, a stroking of the hair, a light kiss on the forehead, a hug, or a backrest when sitting will be what Whumpee really needs.
Calming sentences. Simple sentences that make Whumpee feel safe, such as "It's okay, you're safe", "I'm here", "no one will hurt you anymore", "I will take care of you", "it was just a dream, it's all over", "just rest, don't think about anything", "go to sleep, I'll be here when you wake up", "you did a good job", "I'm proud of you", "thank you for coming back to me," "I'm happy you are here," "I love you," and others.
Caretaker. There is no need to ask. Caretaker is the "medicine" that Whumpee needs most for his healing.
Newly rescued whumpees where caretaker doesn’t realise how much whumpee has been thru until they see whumpee get excited about normal every day things.
Caretaker being confused that whumpee is so happy to see grass, to sleep in a bed, to eat food that isn’t mouldy.
Whumpees being surprised and slightly apprehensive to all the ‘luxuries’ they are being given, not understanding what they have done to deserve them.
Whumpee doesn’t really understand what is going on, everything is happening so fast and their head is pounding so bad.
“hey, can you hear me? Whumpee?” A voice calls out their name. Whumpee raises their head.
“i-i... don’t... understand....i-i...” Whumpee rasps out, before a coughing fit interrupts him.
“shh, don't force yourself too much. I'll explain everything later, now I'm here and I just wanna help you, ok?”
Whumpee is in so much pain, it's hard to breathe. They’re so weak, they lean onto Caretaker, drowning in their quiet words and soft movements. A tear escapes Whumpee’s eye. It's been so long since they were treated like this, like a human being.
"Caretaker..... " Whumpee manages to say, with a weak, raspy voice.
“Yeah, that's right, I am Caretaker. I am here and I won't let them hurt you anymore..." Caretaker whispers, hugging Whumpee, caressing their dirty, greasy hair.  Whumpee winces in pain and can't help but cry, the happiness and comfort are too much for them to manage.
Whumpee laying in Caretaker's lap, writhing in pain and whimpering.
Caretaker playing with Whumpee's hair in an attempt to keep them calm and comfortable, a pained expression on their face. It hurts to see Whumpee suffering like this, and there is nothing they could do to help them.
