though i will say i feel like “who would win in a fight” for superheroes is kind of overrated and boring because a lot of times the characters are all extremely competent and maybe if they were like bare-knuckle fighting with no gear character A out of A and B would always win, but they are all adaptable and competent and should be have unique situations influencing how each fight would go down
like do I really care who wins in a fight every time, wonder woman or superman? No (or well I care some but not a ton), I just want to see wonder woman actually able to do things to resolve the issue and treated as just as narratively significant and able to affect the plot, even if the writers don’t say “so wonder woman can beat superman in a straight out fight” -- which is what she did do in the maxwell lord fight
do I care if blue beetle actually has the implicate order annihilator or whichever super powerful gun the scarab promises it has? no because the entire point of his plot is him using his brains and trickery to defeat a very powerful enemy and that he DOESN’T just bust out the biggest easiest guns -- it’s not just “blue beetle beats up everyone” and it would be boringer if it was
do i care which batfam member comes out on top in a fight*? not a ton, I just care that they each are acknowledged as extremely competent individuals and no one is like de-badassed to make someone look better.
so it can be fun to be like “who would win in a fight x or y” but I don’t really take it very seriously. I think a lot of time surrounding situations can give you a convincing argument for one or the other and that’s how it should be
*i mean like. obviously I have opinions but.

Who would win: Dick Grayson vs. Bruce Wayne?
In reality I'm the only one who loses each time they fight... *cries over the heartfelt issue of Dick's funeral that wasn't released*
I feel like the answer is really boring if its Bruce so I'm going to say Dick (and also there are reasons other than "it's boring if it's bruce" for that)
But first like re-reading through some the new teen titans... a major theme is kids versus parents, especially kids surpassing parents and it just feels kind of like a betrayal of that theme if it's like "kids surpassing parents... except Dick, because Batman is Cool"
also like Bruce straight up says he hopes that Dick surpasses him and thats the entire fucking point in some comics (FML did not bookmark them so I can't remember which one... I think one was a justice league one)
anyway for textual evidence rather than just "it'd be narratively compelling"
first of all bruce has been training for a gazillion years or whatever. But dick has been training since he was 8/12 (depending on the earth) and getting a ton of practice in the field that bruce was not getting at that age! Plus he has acrobatic skills he's been working on since he was very young so he has a very strong athletic foundation
in the leadup to dick as batman, we see a lot of setting Dick up as Bruce's equal in terms of his skills* -- both physical and mental. That only really seems to stop when Bruce is coming back and Bruce is like "Dick is doing a great job was batman, better than me even, but tim would be a better batman because reasons**"
*like IDK one was just someone saying he was the equal of batman which I don't feel like that's really good writing wise becasue any asshole can say "okay this character is talented now" it takes skill to actually show it -- but there are things besides that, including what he actually does as Batman, him being portrayed as being able to at the very least last against Slade in a fight and defeat Ra's Al Ghul, things that put them in the same tier
** GOD can you tell im bitter about this plotpoint?

actually the only valid “who would win” discussion is the one my brother just proposed which is “Batman versus the kid from home alone”

who would win: cassandra cain vs dinah lance
unless she can keep her out of punching range, dinah loses to cass*. They're both very good fighters and extremely competent, but Cass has an edge against other non-powered fighters** due to her body-language reading ability and canonically dinah has asked cass for fighting/sparring help, so it is clear that in the realm of hand-to-hand dinah defers to cass in some instances.
*And even then Cass can still avoid things at a range -- the canary cry is a complicated due to the fact that it's not a line like a bullet, its a wave. But also can Cass see when she's taking a breath? I think when she fights slade, black canary intentionally doesn't use her canary cry to avoid the him just trying to hit her on the inhale thing
**black canary has powers but i'm talking specifically about hand to hand here

who would win: superman vs wonder woman
Wonder Woman
even if superman is technically stronger than she is, she has way more training and no kryptonite. when the writers aren't pandering (superman is the best in dc universe cuz superman) they are portrayed as pretty evenly matched. thinking the superman (as controlled by maxwell lord) vs wondy fight in rucka's run -- wonder woman had kryptonite but she didn't get it out, so they would up fighting each other for real without kryptonite and it was treated as fairly evenly matched, some advantage superman/ worry on diana's part due to the fact that she didn't want to hurt superman and superman was like completely letting loose

who would win: cyborg vs blue beetle (jaime reyes)
cyborg is going to win because of how much more experience he has. even though jaime can make objectively very powerful weapons like ... if the scarab is telling the truth, the implicate order matter annihilator ... cyborg also fights very objectively tough people and has very strong technology and good experience
that said
don't pit them against each other 😭
cyborg vs blue beetle: No
cyborg and blue beetle team up (some mentoring on cyborg’s part) Yes

who would win : hawkman vs hawkgirl (carter hall vs kendra saunders)
hawkgirl
okay textually (as in what is present in 2002 hawkman series) hawkman
but i don't like that
when hawkgirl gets away from hawkman, she's portrayed as more competent. in her run on the JLA, she is portrayed as just as good a fighter as hawkman but faster
they also both have 4k+ years of fighting experience, both have alien tech...
she's also more likely to do flat out reckless shit like tie the claw of horus to her broken arm or mace amazo in the face when she has no powers.
physically, she is younger so some advantage her there
but lets be real I just find "the dude always wins against the girl in the dude/girl fight when they have similar powers" like. obscenely boring. so i'll admit that canonically they have answered this question but i hate the answer
