All of his suffering pays off in the end because he will be a father to not one baby but two (twins)! <3 I think it would be a bittersweet irony if that happened (sweet for Jade, but bitter for Reader). Although maybe you're so certain it's Floyd's baby since you're still under the impression it was Floyd who fucked you that day in his dorm room. Maybe it's not very bitter after all. >_< and it would be even worse (for Jade) because Floyd's just excited to be an uncle, so he'll dote on you and the babies because he's just so overly affectionate and eager.

But Jade has plans for all of these things. :) uuwaaa moray eel instincts are so strong. orz he allows Azul and Floyd to get close to you, but if they overstay their welcome or linger too long in your proximity he gets so irritable. He's so devoted to you and the babies, so much so that he neglects his own health to focus on you and ensure you're content and happy at all times. You have to remind him to eat and sleep and not overwork himself while he's caring for you because, if not told otherwise, he'll get lost in assisting you. And once you start to show, he demands threatens kindly advises Azul to stop putting you out on the floor for your shifts because too many students stare. >:( Jade has to restrain himself from violence every time a customer breathes near you, and of course you're such a brat about it. "Shock the Heart" theory

jade on his ability:

he can't use it on people highly resistant to magic

he can only use it once on the same person

it doesn't work on overly cautious people

Theory: Jade can actually use his UM more than once.

He says he needs people to have their guard lowered to actually use it, that much is true. If he uses his UM on someone, this person will be on guard next time preventing him from using it again.

Basically same trick won't work twice because they're alert and aware and probably also avoiding eye contact UNLESS jade made it known that he can only use it once. that way he can hopefully catch them by surprise a second time.

But he uses it incredibly sparingly because if word runs that his UM has a wider range, his ploy will be ultimately ruined and his ability reduced in opportunity even further than it already is. Floyd and Azul may be aware, but not necessarily if Jade decided that Azul might abuse this ability increasing the possibility of it becoming known, or Floyd, who if a wildcard, carelessly blabbing about it.

That's why he's always saying it's a shame his ability is so weak; to lower your guard.

You're really good at analyzing the dynamic between characters, so I was wondering if you understand the hype about Moonjou. I can't really see them as romantic. It's mostly platonic to me. So, if you do understand the hype surrounding the ship could you explain it to me? I wanna join the fun.

To be honest I'm not a Moonjou person either (I much prefer Turtle/Moon), but lemme try and give it a shot.

From a surface level understanding, I feel like Kinkajou and Moon help out each other a lot by having them open up more. Kinkajou's affect on Moon is most noticeable though, with Moon being a lot more eager and willing to talk and interact when she's got Kinkajou by her side. Kinkajou is down to do just about anything. Talk, paint, play music, anything. Kinkajou was one of Moon's first ever friends, someone who was a gateway into just how close and personal they could be with the Jade Winglet and each other.

Likewise, Moon helps Kinkajou slowly cope with her trauma. At first, Kinkajou was happy with Moon because she "wasn't like the others". Kinkajou is still deeply upset and traumatized by the NightWings. She's afraid. She saw Moon be quiet, shy, and non-assertive, and deduced that she wasn't like the rest of her tribe. She was safe. She could be around her and not have to worry.

And yet, Kinkajou slowly learns through Moon that she can talk about those issues. Even with the skyfire on, Moon can read Kinkajou well enough to notice when she's bothered or having those repressed memories resurface. Perhaps Moon tries teaching Kinkajou similar grounding techniques like the raindrops. Moon tells Kinkajou that she shouldn't have to repress her worries and anxieties all the time, never spending a second to process her deeply traumatic experience and mourn the friends that she lost. It's healthy to cry. It's okay to be not happy all the time.

I do!! SO many, in fact.

I'll say, one of my fave headcanons is that I LOVE the idea that, since it seems kind of implied seadwellers are not on the surface that often, all the violetbloods essentially live in their own underwater city and they just have a COMPLETELY different world goin' on down there. They're so divorced from surface world shenanigans, they essentially have this whole different culture, interpersonal dynamics, etc. goin' on it's just so far removed from what any of the surface trolls are dealing with LMFAO.

Funny enough, i think a majority of it would just be "first-world problems" kinda stuff.... if you've ever watched "Selling Sunset" I feel like it'd be just like that ASLKDJSA

Thinking of the whole discourse in hotd around who should be queen/king..like going back to even the beginning like Visenya should have been the main monarch or Rhaena daughter of Aenys should have been his successor and then Aerea, Rhaenys, Rhaenyra and on and on for every case and like, on principle I agree. But like each time it bitterly reminds me that even if its progress it's still within the confines of a feudal monarchy that has authority over the masses through their violence and like...it's kind of a a "yeah we get to have female tyrants now, gender-inclusive feodality" cause at the end of it yeah you did replace a bad law by a better one with good opportunities for change but ultimately...it's still firstborn child of an hereditary dynasty taking control and being 99% of the time relatively detached from the intererests of the people they rule & very much incentivized to keep their own power, priviledges & dominion standing.
