I dont trust the word tenderqueer or anyone who uses it.

Theres a lot of talk around the word tenderqueer and i just wanna go on record saying i dont trust you if you use this word one bit. I deeply believe white queers who use their queerness to excuse racism or other problematic behaviour is a huge problem and ive met plenty of these kinds of people, its just that words like this are dangerous as fuck. The meaning is ambiguous enough and not imidiatly recognizable from the word which means you need to google what it means and thats where war starts. The homophobes, specifically alt-right and neo nazi groups on 4chan thrive in such ambiguity because they can turn the meaning around to whatever they want and if theyre loud enough they can become the search result before the people who actually care about this issue.

The meaning has already started shifting from racist white queers to "chronically online" queer people who "have never met a queer parson in real life" and more. This isnt a small issue, this is what i first heard when i looked up what this means. Bashing the online queer spaces with words like these is fucking dangerous, thats where the babygays reside, the not yet out trans folks, the young queer people with anxiety or autism. This is the most vulnerable part of this community and everyone is aching to find a way to attack these people without having done anything wrong, i was there for many years. I wont stand for you bitches once again attacking the most vulnerable people on the internet, the ones we sould be doing everything to protect from people outside our comunity.

This conversation can definately be had without a word like that and this kind of hatespeech. You guys still after all these years dont understand that BEING CRINGE DOESNT MEAN YOURE EVIL. Hating on people who are chronically online is hating on mentally ill people for their mental illness. The racist white queers most likely arent even the chronically online bitches, its the powerful white gays, the ones with money. Theres definatelly racist chronically online queers but they are most likely minors and will grow up and learn. Also they arent influencial, theres no reason for the conversation to be around these people when theres so many white queers with money and power who do the exact same thing and monotize off of it.

I also wanna say that i do support critisiziing specific communities for their inherent racism. Communities like coquette and lana del ray girlies have an inherent love for whiteness, smoking and drug idealization, and proana bullshit. Communities and fanbases can be overwhelmingly white and racist but i wont stand for anyone attacking the baby gays i swear. My point that the word tenderqueer does not need to exist and is extremely dangerous still stands.

Also i am getting huge kalvin garrah flashbacks from the word tenderqueer like you guys took transtrenders mixed it up a lil and were like yea thats the one.

It’s weird being black and not being up to date with AAVE terms. Admittedly, I gave up on keeping track of “new slang” back in high school(early 2010s). I mostly just kept the terms i grew up with.

In the last few years(for me) I noticed that Black Culture has been trendy with the mainstream culture. It was confused at first about all these “new terms/slang” can from since I was out of the loop. “Slay, simp, spill the tea, yass, woke, bussin” are all terms I first from the Gay White Men community. I just assumed that it was Gay/Queer culture. Looking back on it, I notice that Gay White Men(and other non black men) really like using/appropriating AAVE of Black Women. Can’t you guys smooth something original?

And then the maintenance culture incorrectly uses AAVE terms, over use them and then abandoned then when they get bored of them. Acting like the terms were stupid in the first place when you weren’t even using then correctly!! Damn, I’m going to have to research every“new slang” because every time it’s just AAVE stolen and missed used.

God black peoples can’t have shit for ourselves.

I'm researching the "Glass Closet" as a concept and looking for content related to it so I watched a tiktok where someone claimed that it was invented by Riley Snorton and is only applicable to the black community as it refers to their hyper visibility, but Snorton didn't publish his book Nobody's Supposed To Know which discusses the Glass Closet as it applies to the black community until 2014 and the term appears at least as early as Eve Sedgewick's Epistemology of the Closet, published in 1990, which Snorton references.

This person was responding to another tiktoker who used the correct definition of the glass closet, shaming them for not doing their research and not knowing that the term only applies to the black community and should never be used for white people. Shaming them for not knowing something objectively false which can be debunked with five minutes of googling. Several people had commented thanking this person for educating them.

Queer people, what are we doing? What is happening on queer tiktok? Every time I go there I come across something like this.
