Whyyyy does the Dragon Age fandom insist Circle mages aren't allowed to marry?

This is contradicted by every single game... in DAO Teagan says that mages are permitted to marry, as far as he knows, and your mage Warden can confirm this. In DA2 Sebastian has no issues whatsoever marrying a mage Hawke (and, if the notes on the canceled Exalted March DLC are anything to go by, Bethany). A mage Inquisitor - whether they're a Circle mage or Vashoth/Dalish - can marry Sera/Cullen in DAI.

All of this is prior to/regardless of Leliana's reforms so it's not even a "the Divine changed the rules" thing. For all the Chantry's abuses - Circle mages not wanting to risk falling in love because they could be separated at a whim, babies being taken from their mothers, etc. - this is one thing the series has been pretty consistent on and yet I see it ALL the time in fic and fandom takes.

Hello! Would you give me guidance about worldbuilding, please?

There's a personal project, just for recreative/theraphy purposes, I'd like to do but I'm stuck. I was thinking about making the setting in a world with magic and in ancient times. But I'm really indecisive about its characteristics, I don't know how to start to develop it.

i want to emphasize here that i am 1. just some guy, without special authority and 2. just one guy, with singular and specific interests. i am not the last word on worldbuilding!

but honestly, if it's a personal project & just for fun, don't overthink it. what do you think is cool? put it in! if you're worried about coherence and realism, pull on the logical thread a little bit. not too much, because you can keep going forever, but two to three layers of consequence. for example: these people live on boats on an ocean and rarely come to shore so they have vast farm boats that they demand soil to refill when they do land so some people think they're demanding conquest and fight them off and some people think they're asking for nothing and that they're religious fanatics.

and if there's a specific period in the real world that you're aiming to make yours feel like, pick up a good, recent survey history of the period. it'll give a good idea of what the problems and concerns of the period were, with an idea of how much a country's politics are interconnected with the rest of its region & how technology & other material concerns affect politics.

but i really do mean "don't overthink it!" if you write a throwaway line that has worldbuilding implications and want to dig into the consequences more, that's cool! if you want flying horses and don't want to think about where they're stabled for now, that's also cool!

I spent 20 years taking everything for granted and then I got visual snow

Nothing is still anymore and while I’m grateful I got 20 years of experiencing the world through a “normal” lens, for lack of a better word, I feel some sort of wrath just sitting underneath everything. Why was I cursed with this constant movement that follows me around?

I cannot be comfortable in low light levels and I can no longer go outside without my eyes being sensitive. I recently started noticing some palinopsia happening as well. Vision is such an anchor in experiencing life. That sentence is so stupid to say but it’s 100% true. And my vision is no longer flawless.

These complaints all seem like nothing compared to what other people experience but I just felt the need to rant and express myself.

I recently took a flight and I LOVE flying. But I couldn’t look out at the soft blue sky without seeing light dots dancing around in my field of vision. I could not admire the clouds without some light sensitivity. I now experience the world less clearly. My amp moves when I look at it. My right ear rings constantly. None of this is severe or extreme but it’s enough.

If you are able-bodied and if your world doesn’t vibrate or constantly move when you look at it, you are blessed. I spent 20 years not knowing about VSS and not knowing how lucky I was to just not experience this constant motion. In my teenage years I wallowed in self-pity and I didn’t know how good I had it.

I hope that we find a cure or treatment for VSS one day. Until then, we will get through our daily lives together. For me, knowing I’m not alone helps. But it doesn’t make it go away. Because thanks to VSS, I have learned that it snows in summer, too.

OOOOH GLADION THIS WILL BE GOOD —First Impression: Ow. Really, ow the edge. I ACTUALLY cringed at his reveal. —Impression Now: I still think he was written to be edgy for the sake of edgy. Seriously, we've had several angsty rivals before him and Gladion has the most edge to him. Like they threw everything the writers could think of to throw at him. Don't get me wrong I still liked him as a character but still. ow.

—Favourite Moment: "Get out." yeah that's a literal moment in the game. —Idea for a story: What if it was Gladion who was the secondary protagonist instead of Lillie? I would have loved to hear his perspective in more detail. Plus I want to see more of what he does in Team Skull. —Unpopular opinion: Gladion had more potential as a character than Lillie did, fight me. —Favourite Relationship: I don't think his relationships were as well explored as they could have been, but I did like how he was as a rival to the main character. —Favourite Headcanon: I'm not well versed in the fandom's headcanons, so here's one of mine. He joined Team Skull for the hell of it. Team Skull is not a phase, Lusamine. Really, not everyone needs a deep reason to join the villain team imo.
