Golden Fleece

#my art #cotl #cotl lamb #blood #it was really fun to ponder this one #cause in the game sprite the body on the fleece has the scale-like texture but the hem is sharp like the standard fleece #i felt a 2 tiered piece would work nicely to show both of these contrasting elements #the sprite always makes me think of gold scale mail but i wanted to avoid it looking explicitly like armor #since the fleece gives you stacking atk damage in exchange of taking 2x damage when hit #although tbqh gold armor would be fucking pointless anyways. gold is a very soft metal. which may have been the point but w/e #instead i wanted the shapes to be more reminiscent of wool since like. yknow. the golden fleece #and i wanted it to speak of luxury and power but be rather impractical for movement or protection #i just wanted to do an axe for funsies and by wonderful coincidence remembered the godly axe was gold :] #anyways this pose is brought to you by my stupid ass who spun too hard with my upper body when swinging a bat and felt cool for 1 second #before totally unbalancing myself and falling #the instant after this image lambo eats shit. rest in peace

Burnt out

#initially this was meant to be something else entirely #but i wasn't really liking how it was going so I scrapped the idea and opted out for something a bit more personal #ive been really suffering from burn out for the last few years and just barely keeping my head above water #there are times where i seriously feel like ive failed in every aspect of my career #like if i were good enough i wouldn't have burnt out #i love my job and i love my trade i love every skill ive gain up until this point #but its been hard not to take it personally when all the effort you've put into honing those skills #are abused or exploited #life is difficult enough already and and time is fleeting #taking time for yourself is above all the most important thing you can do to help your work flourish #taking a break isn't failure #its health #we aren't machines despite our industries treating us as such #just waiting and hoping that itll pay off #ive certainly learned my lesson #and im looking forward to brighter horizons #and healthier more respectful ones #ill be okay ive learned how to love my art in my personal time again #but i certainly need to let my mind rest and my body to recover #these tags are lengthy anyways #unionize and dont work for nothing from large companies #be gay do drugs love your friends make art for yourself too #my art #scuttles out of here #i hope these long ass images actually show up in full resolution #i did draw them fucking TOLL as hell

not to make angst out of a fucking gag but also thinking about the silly au rei in the final episode makes me think about how different rei would be if she didn’t have literally the worst dad ever. like, no, she probably wouldn’t have been the upbeat adhd whirlwind in the high school au lmao. but it does just make me think. because while all the pilots lives are incredibly marked by trauma, rei's the only one to have never had access to any sort of normal life. her entire personality and worldview is shaped from being isolated, groomed, and taught to see herself as a tool and not a person. and then i just get so sad that she never had any chance of a normal life where she could discover herself and what she is. she went from being abused and manipulated by gendō (which is made even worse with the implications certain scenes leave about their relationship) to becoming god. she never had any chance of living a normal life. and just like. fuck.

#like when people talk about gendō being a bad dad it’s normally to do with shinji but like. he was an utterly abysmal dad to rei as well. #outside of the implications of csa even. like even outside of that she was isolated confined and used as a tool her whole life #like. it’s not like she can just leave. I mean none of the Eva pilots can just leave because they’re being groomed it’s horrible and awful #But like Rei specifically physically can’t leave. both bc she needs her medication which. Yeas ^_^ talon was turned when he was like 29 but even then he had a youthful/baby face. His default form looks something like dis (im still figuring it out, i dont draw him Young often for character reasons)

he doesn't like that he never gets to age, mostly after experiencing abuse under the assumption that he was even younger than he looks, so he forgoes feeding (the vampiric fountain of youth) so he can look old all the time to feel safer, be taken seriously etc (dis is also why he always looks uncomfortable when i draw him Unwrinkled, he feels unguarded and exposed)

He could just shapeshift to look however he wants when he's fed but it means needing to feed more often, he likes his Aged appearance to feel "Natural" and also well. Punishing himself, because sometimes disordered eating and other behaviors that can and do stem from abuse are just like that

Really helped me build the habit of evaluating whether an item of clothing is practical enough for my day-to-day life.

#thats not to say that ive never bought impractical clothing because i definitely have #but ive always found it to be a super useful step in deciding whether i like a piece of clothing #wearing practical clothing takes away so much of the mental burden of constantly self-assessing yourself throughout your day #i generally dont have to worry about things like flashing someone #or not being able to move my arms thru their full range of motion #or not being able to bend down to lift something #same goes for makeup #i dont have to worry about smudging it and making a mess when i scratch my face or rub my eyes or rest my chin on my hand #anyway i love dressing practically and i think unless youre wearing a costume for a specific event #then dressing in a way that limits your mobility and ability to live comfortably in your body is stupid
